#bad days are allowed

Something that bugs me about a lot of writing advice is the assumption that writing is linear and therefore a writer’s skill will improve and improve and improve.

This is not true.

There are days when the words don’t come, when the “great writing tip” that saved a previous work becomes claustrophobic in a current work, when everything seems more difficult than it used to even though nothing on the outside has changed.

Yes, some of this is higher expectations as we improve or try more ambitious works.

And some of it is just being a writer who, like everyone else, has good days and bad days.

It’s okay.

Writing is an art.

And art isn’t linear.

silly little headcanon: Maui doesn't need to sleep all that often because he's a demigod, but because he was born human he still occasionally feels tired and sleeps anyway. Sometimes while he sleeps, he actually finds it more comforting to shapeshift into an animal and sleep that way; he's a big guy who takes up a lot of space, so sometimes it feels nice to just. turn into a little animal and curl up in a little ball to sleep.

Sometimes when Moana loses track of him on a voyage, when she isn't sure she saw him take off and leave, she ends up finding him in the cargo hold, shapeshifted into a little pig, curled up and sleeping besides Pua. She'll never tell him she found him like that, of course. She needs her blackmail and cameras haven't been invented yet, and also it's so stupid cute to see this all powerful demigod just curled up into this tiny little thing snoring away.

He even finds himself doing it on Motunui, even though he'd definitely be offered a place to stay if he wanted one. Sometimes villagers will just happen across a "weird looking lizard" just baking out in the sun, fast asleep. Sometimes they see a massive hawk nesting on the roof of Moana's fale. Maybe sometimes he even shifts in his sleep to some animal that doesn't even make sense for where he touched down to rest. Maybe one day he wakes up to a huge crowd surrounding him on the beach, Moana included, because oops, he transformed into a whale in his sleep, and a bunch of poor confused fishermen thought he was some poor old regular whale that beached itself by mistake.

Something about using his powers at rest. For comfort, rather than for power and aggresion.

is that Mettaton grows to love this show. This cast!!! Sweet Cap'n Cakes as musical accompaniment, Elnina and Lanino as supporting cast, the Mikes and Shuttah and Ramb behind the scenes, the shadowguys and pippins and zappers all working as crew!!! He loves TV! He loves being on TV!!! He wants to keep this show running!!

Which means his crush on Tenna... Shouldn’t go anywhere. It's one thing for coworkers to have a fling, but he KNOWWWWS he's in deeper than that. He knows he's got it BAD bad. He overloaded his circuits to the idea of Tenna laying his head in Mettaton's lap and letting Mettaton rest a palm on the warm plastic of his casing. He COULD NOT be cool about this. So he's just! Going insane!!!

I feel like Light would actually not be that much better off if he'd ignored L tbh. Yeah, sometimes it's wiser to back down from a fight and fly under the radar, but that only really applies when your enemy does not have massive amounts of power, the ability to gain ground against you at an astronomical rate, the obsessive fixation of a man with nothing else to do and all the time in the world, and the dedication of someone whose entire life is the game. L is simply not the type of enemy you want to leave to his own devices.

I have all of these extended thoughts on my head about the amazing way themes and character relationships are handled in Iruma-kun and the inclusion of queerness and the handling of the coming of age narrative in this shonen manga/anime

And every time all that comes out when I'm reccing it is "You should watch/read it"

I hate how Aang is just never allowed to feel bitter about having his culture colonized. Like he apparently shouldn't feel so upset about colonizers that destroy his people's temples and replace it with pipes and smog. He apparently shouldn't feel angry when he learns that they build weapons of mass destruction for the Fire Nation

And then they try to make him out to be an "airbender purist" in Korra and like....he literally wouldn't be like that

"Aang is a bad father because he only paid attention to his one kid that was an airbender" his culture literally involves venturing out to other nations, and he befriends so many people and learn their cultures through these exchanges

If Aang is excited to share his culture, he is literally going to share it with his entire family, whether they are an airbender or not. He is literally excited to show Katara and Sokka how to play airbending games.

And he would want to do the same with the Southern Water Tribe because that's his wife and brother-in-law's homeland. He would take his children to travel around the world with him because that's what his people do
