Love the way we're shown that post-EP7 Pat is constantly sleeping over Pran's. The pictures over Pran's headboard, Pat and Pran's uniforms hanging up next to each other, Pran all cuddled up with Pat's Nong Nao, Pat getting up early to make Pran breakfast in bed. Something something domestic bliss something something I'm throwing myself out the fucking window
Also it is a KNOWN FACT that Pat cannot sleep unless he's cuddling something. Pran has an IRON GRIP on Nong Nao, Pat's usual cuddle object, in the above screencap. THEREFORE (points to a map covered in red string behind a hidden passage in my wall) Pran was most definitely cuddled up in Pat's arms all night.
#bad buddy#patpran#this is the start of ep8#bad buddy meta#<-i will find a better tag for my rewatch lol#im imagining pran printing out the photos and taping them and the post its up over his (their) bed and inflicting critical damage to myself#had to make an important addition to this post#bbrw

The passive stance of a parent who ignores their child (or children) when they come back home is unfortunately something I've long been familiar with, and was expected to accept at an early age. I wonder if things are different now for younger generations of Asians whose parents might be more emotionally responsible and aware. I don't know...
Self-protective qualities that came from their upbringing, but also: bros are never encouraged as much to identify their feelings, including in Pat and Pran's generation. Chewing on this...

i have thoughts about the pjo tv show but they might not be beloved... (long post, mostly just for myself but feel free to read my thoughts) (also lmk your thoughts! im curious if my experiences are universal) (also obv spoilers for ep8)
now i recognize i am watching this show through the lens of a much older person than i was when i read the books. percy is no longer older than me - he is now just a baby to me. and the actors are so young. so that might be the cause of some of my feelings. also i realize that a tv adaption is not going to be identical to the book. but what is tumblr if not a place to vent my frustrations, despite how irrational they may be?
i'll start with the good because there were some things i liked. i thought the actors mostly did a good job. the effects and sets and lighting and design was all very good, visually i think it was great. i like the gods i think theyre mostly well cast. I don't really have many problems with grover.
ok now lets talk about my frustrations. this isn't going to be super organized or logical. first of all, i had a problem with the characterization. most characters were actually not bad, but percy didn't really feel like percy to me. he seemed kinda darker? (whats he gonna be like when its dark!percy time??). like book percy obviously was not happy all the time, but he seemed light and he made jokes and he was a little goofier and i feel like in my mind he smiled more. tv percy kinda just seems sad all the time. and this might be a controversial take, but i feel like they gave some of percy's best traits to annabeth?? like annabeth was the one beefing with ares the most when he showed up. and a lot of the time she'd have a line that seemed so percy like!!! don't get me wrong - i love annabeth and the actress did a really great job! but i feel like she was kinda percy and annabeth at the same time in a way. i missed percy. also hades was different. they made hades fun which is cute but in the first book at least hes supposed to be kinda scary!!! i wasn't scared of hades at all. hades seems like he'd be a fun drinking buddy in this. those aren't the vibes hades should have, at least not at the first meeting.
ok next!!! where is the fun. pjo was such a fun series and i feel like the show has taken on more of a darker outlook! again i realize its a tv show and it was only an 8 ep run so they probably had time constraints, but i miss the fun little scenes that make the books such a fun read! like the "say hello to the poodle" scene ? or the scene where they're telling charon they died in a bathtub? and don't even get me started on the Crusty's bed scene. they just breezed right through that!!!
and thats another thing!!!! in the book they kept figuring things out while they were in the thick of it. which was fine!!! especially for percy - hes brand new to all of this, he has some knowledge but he makes mistakes because he's a kid and he is in a brand new world! and we get to see him and annabeth and grover get out of these tricky situations and figure things out!!! but in the show they know everything basically instantly. like the lotus casino or crustys scheme. i like seeing them make mistakes and fix it!! i don't think i was ever stressed watching this show (good stressed, like suspense stress) which i guess is in part because ive read the books but also because they were never in too terrible a position. and the kronos thing!!! percy knew right away. he was like oh word big pit? must be kronos. he did everything. like that is way too quick for early percy.
and then this is just me being nitpicky but i don't like how they changed things. like the luke betrayal reveal? where was the scorpion. that was so iconic and they just completely scrapped it! i thought it made luke's character kinda scary! like this guy fully just summoned a scorpion to kill percy. instead in the show hes like swinging at percy and percy manages to hurt him. i'm not scared of this luke. young percy, away from the sea, manages to hurt him? little annabeth scares him off? he runs away? ok big man try showing up again we won't be scared. idk it frustrates me.
one more thing before i wrap up the longest (and only) post i've made in ages. Sally Jackson using Medusa's head to turn gabe to stone was SO iconic. and what a great way for her to show us and the world and the gods how powerful she is. like she went from being sally jackson, mother and protector of percy (who was already pretty sick) to Sally Jackson, Capable of Basically Murder in a Super Cool Way!!!!!! i loved that. but in the show they just have gabe snooping and accidentally getting turned to stone? if i had never read the books and was watching this show with no knowledge of the books, i'd think it was just kinda a lazy way to wrap up a loose end. kinda felt like they took sally's power away (i know she divorced him but it doesn't really have the same gravitas).
ok i do have other thoughts but this is so long already and its bedtime. is it weird that i'm worried the younger cast might come across this? they probably won't care what i have to say but incase they do come across my super long post and read it (i would if i was 15 and starred in a show with a built in fanbase), i hope they take it with the biggest grain of salt. bc at the end of the day people like the show, its profitable (i assume), and i'm just a cranky old lady who doesn't like change. most of the changes i understand why they did it and i respect it. i'm just venting here. and you know what? if they release a second season (and third and fourth and fifth) i will be watching.
i guess i just wish they maybe had more episodes, or longer episodes, so they didn't have to rush it as much as (i felt) they did. overall it made people happy so who cares. have a good night tumblr.

bad buddy fandom getting-to-know-you meme! (created by @fiercynn)
tagged by beloveds @nobodynobodyno & @cornflowershade & @solana-ceae thank you for tagging me this was so much fun! 🌹💖
note: i consider "fanworks" to pretty much everything people create related to a fandom, including but not limited to meta/analysis/discussion, gifs, fanvids/edits/fancams, filk, fanart, fanfic, fan food, fan crafts, etc. please include this note with the meme unless you have a different definition!
name and whatever you want to share about yourself
im vi! i'm queer, 23, born & living in India, but brought up in south-east asia!
when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom?
i saw the show as it aired but i joined the fandom (and tumblr) around ep3!
favorite ship(s)
PatPran (duh!), but also InkPa because they're such a good pair like how Pa is a badass but around Ink she just melts and gigges (both the jundapat siblings are the same skskks)
favorite character(s)
Pran. he is me, i am him. he is a feral, musky scented hoe and i love him.
favorite episode(s)
episode 4! first we got ink and pa projecting her crush pn pat! then we saw pran AND A LOT OF PINING AND JEALOUSY. my boy had gotten his hopes up and then absolutely shattered. we got "only i can have these super cute dimples" & "if you were ink, would you like me?" and that absolutely heartbreaking last scene <3
favorite scene(s)
i mean there's the obvious ep5 4/4 fight followed by the best kiss in cinematic history. but also pat in the music shop discovering that he likes pran. and pat shouting his love to pran in the architecture faculty. and pat and pran's scene in the corridor with the guitar. and inkpa hotpot date and the photography room scene. the entire episode 8 & 11 (im cheating ik). i will keep on listing all the scenes if i don't stop.
one thing you would change about the show if you could
i wish there was just one discussion about wai being a dick to pran in ep8/9. like i wouldn't change what happened but like after all the dust had settled and all the friends were ok with patpran, i hope there was a discussion or even a mention of that wai apologised to pran somewhere behind the scenes and pran mentioned this to pat. (and i'm not sure if os2 counts but i would most def change ep3 of the crossover where they are just getting lost and screaming each others' names again and again sksksks)
what are your some of your favorite fanworks made by other people
this is very unfair ok i love them all but here are a few
i'll just link all the fics here & the post i made about it some time back! (special mention to a soft boy in soft sweaters by @dimplesandfierceeyes)

cute detail in bad buddy ep8
i was just rewatching episode 8 of the series for the 8th in the past 30 days like a normal person i found a cute detail i had missed the first 7 times!
im talking about this scene where pat wakes up the morning after their meal together when pran accidentally causes pat's phone to fall when he panicked on thinking pat was taking a selfie of them kissing and pran leaves all these cute notes to cheer pat up all over the house. in between all of that i only now realized i had missed something!
this scene when pat enters the bathroom to brush his teeth and finds his toothbrush with the paste all ready to be brushed on it! i get leaving notes everywhere and making him breakfast and everything but to go to the extent of keeping toothpaste out for pat not only shows pran's attention to detail but also just how much thought and effort he put into making pat feel better and cheering him up. i love that boy and his precious heart so much i could cry. nobody speak on pran unless it is to praise/understand/cherish him. im sorry but im feeling extra protective today.

WANDAVISION DEEP DIVE part 2
(Wandavision entries: [1][2][3])
(AAA entries: ep1 [1][2][3][4] ep2 [1][2][3][4] ep3 [1][2][3] ep4 [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][+1] ep5 [1][2][3][4][5] ep6 [1][2][3] ep7 [1][2][3][4][5][6] ep8 [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] ep9 [1][2])
In which I continue looking through Agatha scenes in Wandavision, I want to get to AAA nowwwwww but I can't stop taking screenshots. I forgot how good this show is
We are on episode 6 and it's naughty couture time! (so much for less screenshotting)
Oh wow, these three together, very cute and not painful in any way! Also not foreshadowing or anything.
I'm not clear on this point, did Ralph have ANY free will or was Agatha just puppeteering him at all times? Because he totally sounds like Agatha doing a half-assed Quicksilver impression. You want to know about Wanda's trauma, don't you Fietro???
Bit much there, buddy. That's right. Too much ham. Off you go.
yep, that's Agatha's manipulative ass alright. and she almost got away with it too.
Episode 7, where Agatha can't wait to get her paws on those little boys and do horrible villainous things to them (like making them snacks and watch cartoons. And some light trauma)
That's why Billy's her favorite, he's such a mama's boy.
the exact faces the three of them will make when auntie Agatha tries to ghost-mom the twins
babies are delicious
why is she being such an ASSHOLE TO WANDA OH MY GOD. psychological torture for days and days and days
IMMEDIATELY tries to bond with Billy. she's also prodding for his powers but there's genuine kindness there too
Billy genuinely likes Agatha though, that's the thing. despite everything, even in the future he instinctively trusts her and seeks her out. in a way they kind of adopt each other
why does her voice get so tender goddamnit Hahn. you know Agatha is thinking about Nicky and having so many feels
this whole dynamic really hits differently now, doesn't it?
her body language with Monica is so threatening, she's containing herself but you can see she wants to KILL
At this point Monica and SWORD are approaching and there's no much time left, so Agatha takes another big risk and openly approaches Wanda - or actually, not *much* more openly. She goes from over-the-top neighbor to over-the-top witch, the same trick she always uses, except she never went against someone as scary powerful as Wanda. She is truly gambling here, and you can tell by how rigid her body language is. She's projecting strength more than feeling it, and I think she's using señor Scratchy both as a prop for her villain persona (hilarious. that's a cuddly bunny, you idiot!) and also as moral strength, she's holding him like a shield.
^^Agatha when she's purposely being a clown and fucking with people
^^the real Agatha, razor-focused, serious, and, more often than not, cruel.
Episode 8. We now know that Evanora hates Agatha because she was born with succubus powers - born different, born evil, queer analogies abound. Jac Schaeffer says that Agatha has never been loved by her mother or really by anyone before she met Rio, so let's just sit on that.
Here we have a very young Agatha, still a teenager, already up to mischief. Interesting that Evanora does not mention her killing anyone quite yet, Agatha's crimes are about seeking knowledge, something she'll keep doing all her life. She's already a self-fulfilled prophecy, she's being bad and going against her coven because her coven calls her bad and pushes her away. This is supposedly her family, her sisters, her community. She committed a bloodless crime, and they're about to execute her for it.
She denies, Evanora calls her out. Agatha is already refining her greatest skill: deception.
Can she control it? Did they ever try to teach her? And why is she talking about her powers now? She is not being executed for stealing at all, is she? And she knows it. (Also I LOVE that when Agatha is at her lowest she resorts to beg. Her survival instincts are stronger than anything, even her pride, she is self-centered to her very core. That's the only way she could ever survive.)
Evanora starts chanting "mors monstrum innaturale", death to the unnatural monster. And, I'm sorry, that's incredibly fucked up. It gets more fucked up the more I think about it.
"Watch this, Lisa. You can actually pinpoint the second when her heart rips in half."
The coven in an excess of prudence must have decided to kill Agatha in a joint effort, just in case her powers are too much for one witch or two. They thought they would destroy the so called evil with their moral superiority, they actually had no idea of what Agatha was capable of, and by her shocked expression, neither did she - she was never allowed to explore her abilities, not to such an extent anyway.
That's the same expression again, completely focused and merciless. I know I'm repeating myself but the real Agatha is anything but bombastic. Her emotions are subtle but formidable.
When I first watched this scene 3 years ago I came to the conclusion that Agatha was conning the Salemites in order to kill them. She was absolutely not. She is shell-shocked at what happened.
Hahn is very deliberately making understated choices here. No evil cackling, no gloating, just contempt and bitterness.
And I'm running out of space again but it was worth it, this scene was so interesting to analyze. Hopefully part 3 will be the last one for Wandavision
go to part 3

#also - green is pa's colour! they are steeped in/surrounded by green
sorry to highjack your post like this @ranchthoughts but your tag got me thinking....
there's a lot of blue around wai, esp in the first few screenshots. we all know blue is pat's colour/the engineering gang's colour so i can't help but think how this might signify the obstacle that wai still has to overcome that is his feelings for the "enemy" as pa is related to pat and that makes her the enemy's blood. but at the same time it also showcases how deep wai's feelings for pa run as he is completely surrounded by the enemy colour as well. in fact, in ep8 he is even wearing it, meaning he is willing to take it on and be part of the enemy's family just for the love of his life. i just think that's beautiful
what are your thoughts on this as the bad buddy colour expert @dribs-and-drabbles?

OKAY BUT ALSO I won’t be coherent for another 24hrs but???? My boy????? My darling?????? My shining light Pran??????? He’s SO SCARED he’s been scared of his relationship with Pat for SO LONG and yet he keeps trying to reach out to Pat. He scared to hold hands he’s scared to see pictures posted he’s scared to see Pat in his shirt
But here he is, reaching out, running to him, struggling to express himself with words because he cares about Pat more than anything else, more than his fear. It’s much more subtle but it’s just as fierce and just as strong and I’m so PROUD of him, he’s fighting for what he wants, whether it’s against his friends or family or himself 😭😭😭
#bad buddy#bad buddy ep8#*hollering from the rooftop* PRAN I LOVE YOUUUUUU#HES SO GOOD YOU GUYS I COULD TYPE ESSAYS#I WILL TYPE ESSAYS EVENTUALLY IM JUST#H I M#HES SO GOOD#HES FIGHTING FOR PAT SO HARD#HE CARES SO MUCH#IM SO PROUD OF HIM

On coming out: Bad Buddy edition
I bet most of us had some difficult conversations at some point in our lives. It’s just part of the human experience. But coming out is such a specific thing, something that isn’t a one time conversation for us either. It’s not an easy conversation to have and a lot of the time it IS painful to come out.
Once you come out, it’s not over with one conversation. You seem to find yourself coming out multiple times in your life to different people.
Having a supportive inner circle doesn’t cancel out the anxiety of having to share this monumental and very vulnerable part of yourself with people who are supposed to be there for you and love you unconditionally. Even this unconditional love doesn’t guarantee a smooth coming out with no hurt parties. Because the people who love us can hurt us the most. Just being asked why we never bothered to tell that person before.. it hurts. Because they inadvertently shift the focus on themselves. As if your identity is something that affects their lives more than it does yours. And I get it. We have these ideas about people in our heads and suddenly being met with the truth that you might not have considered… it can shake you. It can challenge your core beliefs and some people seem to question why they never noticed, why they never thought about this as an option. Some people really question themselves and who they are and they’re suddenly met with the thought that they might not be as open minded as they thought they were. And that’s valid. However, coming out is not the time to have this inner freakout. Yes, it can trigger an introspection but at the time someone comes out to you, you just don’t make it about yourself.
Coming out is always about the person who is coming out. No one should ever take the power from your hands. Because to find the courage to come out is difficult. It can sometimes take years just to be able to say it out loud, just to yourself. Because you know what this means for your life. And it’s scary. It’s scary because you know life will change. You might lose people close to your heart for not accepting your true self.
Yes, times are changing, but until every single person has a safe space to come out in, until society accepts us the way we are... no one should dictate what a coming out should or shouldn’t be. Or how it should happen.
Two major things to never do to someone who considers coming out or who is about to come out:
1. pressure them to do so
2. out them yourself
So with all this in mind, let’s look at Bad Buddy EP8. Throughout this whole episode we’ve seen Pran struggle with the idea of people finding out about his relationship with Pat. With good reason. Take a step back and just think about the ramifications of coming out as a gay man - what both Pran and Pat would have to live through. Sure they’d find people rooting for them, but if the society as whole is against them it’s a hard thing to do, especially so young and freshly in a relationship. A relationship that should not even be happening according to their parents.
Pran’s internal struggle doesn’t come from him not accepting himself as a gay man or being ashamed of Pat or their relationship. No, Pran is simply a traumatised young man whose parents have gone above and beyond just to make sure he doesn’t get close to Pat.
To live through such a traumatic event and yet still allow himself to chase the happiness that he finds in Pat’s presence... that’s brave. He might not be ready to tell the whole world, but by the end of the episode he sure seems like he would be okay telling his close circle - his friend. People he trust. Those he literally would do anything for. He considers the possibility, he’s warming up to the thought of people knowing. He might have even started thinking about how he would tell his friends...
... only for his best friend to betray him and out him to a theatre full of people. His peers, his friend... his partner’s friend.
Just before the curtain falls the conversation Pran and Pat are having is echoing around, which means that someone messed with the audio and distributed it all through the theatre for everyone to hear.
As the curtain falls you can see people are shocked, some are amused, some are just surprised to see what’s happening. And then there is Wai. The look on his face is so full of malice and ill-intent, it made the hair at the back of my neck stand. It’s obviously his doing. Not just judging by the look on his face but because he is suddenly in the sound booth (when he actually dropped the play citing scheduling conflicts as a reason earlier in EP7). Even if he personally didn’t push the buttons to switch the output of the microphones, he sure was the one who told the other sound guy to do so.
Why did he do it? Did he have a reason? Saying he had a reason would give room for excusing his actions. Which frankly are... inexcusable.
He betrayed the trust of his best friend, someone who has been helping him since the beginning of the show. He took the burden of acquiring funding for the bus stop on his shoulders, when he wasn’t even the one who helped destroy it in the first place. Pran decided to help Wai and take over his responsibilities in the production team for the play even though Pran explicitly stated at the beginning of this whole thing, back in EP7, that he does not want to get involved in any other school activities. Yet when Wai came to him, with his little sob story about losing a scholarship if he doesn’t attend rugby practices... when his participation in the play wasn’t really mandatory (if it was mandatory for other architecture students to help, Safe Louis and Pran would have been involved from the get go... but they were not) Pran never hesitated to step up and help Wai.
He found out about Pran’s relationship, listened to Pran talk about secret relationships (basically pouring his heart out and giving a vague reasoning as to why this relationship is kept a secret in the first place) and yet he still decided to act out over something that does not really concern him.
Yes, he has some beef with Pat and his friends - mainly Pat’s friends. But that should not influence his decision making when this whole stunt could hurt his best friend more than his little feud with the engineering squad hurts him.
Yes, he might be pissed that Pran lied to him for months about his involved with Pat. I totally get being hurt that your friend has lied to you on multiple occasions. Yet Pran’s lies never put Wai in harms way.
Yes, he might have been overcome by emotions because of the whole Pa thing (I’ll get into it in another post).
But... those are still not reasons to out someone against their will.
Wai either does not understand or just doesn’t care about the fallout from outing Pran like this. Wai might not know about their families feud, might not know the complicated history between Pran and Pat and what it took to admit they had feelings for each other, what it took to overcome these obstacles and find solace, acceptance and unconditional love in each others arms. But what Wai knows is that Pran’s mother is abusive. He knows she is controlling. He knows his mother uprooted this boy’s whole life just because he was involved in music (or so he was told by Pran). Wai doesn’t know how his parents would react once they’ll find out about their son being in a relationship with a man.
Even with all this in mind, his judgement is clouded by emotions and he decides to take matters into his own hands. He seems to have planned this. He outs his best friend to a group of people. Something that would sure spread through the grapevines and could even reach Pran’s mother. He also outs another person in the process.
But frankly, it seems that Wai does not care.
Because to Wai, Pran right now is the villain in his own personal story... for lying. He prioritises his own feelings above his friends safety. Betrays his trust.
Recovering from such a thing is hard. Being stripped of the choice and the power over how, when and to whom he comes out. It’s traumatising.
And because of that, I can never excuse, forgive or forget Wai’s actions. And neither should Pran if he decides so himself.
Sincerely,
Someone who has been outed by their close friend against their will.

Interesting to see what their friend groups are supportive of and where they draw the line.
In the episode 2, we see Pran's friends openly supportive of Pran even after he suggests that his secret admirer may be a man. What's more, they encourage him to pursue it and delight in teasing him. Note, this teasing doesn't come across as hostile or mean in its nature. It's easy to imagine them teasing any friend about their crush, regardless of gender, in the same way.
In direct contrast, we have Pat's friends. While the group is initially elated over the developments of Pat's love life, that excitement abruptly fades when Pat reveals that the "girl across the hall" turned out to be a guy. There's no room for further discussion. No encouragement or assurances of acceptance. The thought of Pat pursuing a man isn't even something his friends conceptualize. They drop it and act like it never happened. End of story.
While Pran's friends were supportive of him pursuing a man, there's clearly an exception to that acceptance. Given their conflict with the guys from Engineering throughout the entire series, it's easy to see that Pran's friends would consider THOSE guys off limits. This restriction is so obvious to everyone in the friend group, it needs no saying. If Pran wants to pursue a man, that's fine. Pursuing a guy from engineering, however, would be the ultimate betrayal. For Pran's friends, it all comes down to this ridiculous feud between the 2 faculties. As we see in episode 6, if Pran isn't WITH the group then he's AGAINST the group. Just imploring his friends not to fight with Pat while at camp is already an offense which throws his loyalty into doubt. It's clear that even pursuing a friendship with someone from Engineering is off the table.
In episode 8, Pat's friends finally figure out that he's hitting on someone in Architecture. Given their behavior in episode 2, it's not surprising that they assume this person is a girl. & in spite of expectations, they're ecstatic and encouraging! Perhaps it's just me, but there also seemed to be an edge to their excitement. They seemed TOO delighted by the idea of Pat "scoring" a girl from Architecture. It's almost like they view this as a win against the Architecture guys they usually compete with? Of course, given their previous actions, it wouldn't surprise me if they had this possessive view of women but those are thoughts for another post. Their reactions here make it clear that while Pat being with a man makes them uncomfortable, they're okay with crossing faculty lines as long as the person Pat is crossing the divide for is NOT a guy.
While we've yet to see everyone's full reactions to the relationship reveal at the end of episode 8, it's safe to say that the fallout will be ugly. In sum, I expect that Pat's friend group will have a tougher time reconciling the idea of Pat being with a guy whereas Pran's friend group will struggle more to accept that Pran has crossed faculty lines to date someone from Engineering.
