Ok, no, I actually want to talk about how bad the new discord mobile design is as a user.
If I get a DM on discord, then a little notification icon appears at the top of my discord app alerting me of this. To view the DM, I then have to swipe to open the server list, and then look to the bottom of the screen to see that it's a DM. Upon tapping the messages icon, it opens the messages, and where is the new message? Near the top of the fucking screen.
Compare this to the old layout. The notification appears in the top left, and I swipe to open the server list. I can now not only instantly see that I have a DM (or DMs) because my eyes are already looking at the top of the screen, but I can also see exactly who has messaged me because it shows me their icon. And if more than one person has messaged me, I can not only see that too, but I can also choose whose message I want to read first.
In addition, not only is it significantly more inconvenient to view my DMs, it's also more inconvenient to get back to the server list.
It utterly baffles me that discord would change this design. I have to go through more screens now to see my DMs, and I have to move my eyes from the top, to the bottom, then back to the top of the screen to view them. It is just straight up worse design! What were they thinking???

Trying to look up something and there are only tutorials on how to DISABLE IT! qet54 I need to enable something I am at my fucking edge and will commit acts of heavy bloodshed if if these SEO maggots from HELL don't die. If you see news of a gingered haired girl committing such acts of bloodshed than you'll know it was ya girl Iris. (This is not meant to be taken as a threat)
Anyway, if anyone would be so kind as to inform me as to how you enable the desktop notifications then that'd be very useful.

When I make a haircut appointment at my usual place online the interface forces me to choose whether I want a men's haircut or a woman's haircut. Which is the same "haircut under 25cm" service from the same master for the same price, I just need to hand in a gender as a part of the ritual. So what I usually do is choose a different option every time. Last time it was a male one, this time it was a female one. I have been going for pretty much the same style for the last year or so, but sometimes it's flowers and shopping flavoured, and sometimes it's guns and woodchopping flavoured, I guess.
Anyway, the hair clipper somehow decided to bite into my ear and cause an overdramatic bleeding today, so now I can say that, statistically speaking, the female version of my hairstyle is way more bloody and violent than the male one.

Okay, see this? This really bugs me.
This is not well designed UI. Why would they do that? Why would they put that gem there and bump the shop icon so it covers the notes? This is stupid.

Days since Tumblr updated the sites UI: 0
Tumblr please stop updating the user Interface.
For the love of everything good on this hellsite, Please just leave it alone! I don't want UI changes I want a functional video player.
Like look at this shit.
No not the birds, look closer.
What the fuck is this??! Why dose it look like this? Why did you feel the need to change it?
What happened to me being able to see the original poster, who reblogged it from them, who reblogged that, and the person who reblogged it onto my dash? I liked being able to see how it ended up on my dash with the last two or three people who reblogged it. It was like seeing a note being passed a few rows ahead of you in class.
Now it feels like I'm reading a work email that got forwarded to me from my boss or something. I don't like it.
#tumblr ui#ui update#hellsite#hellsite update#tumblr ui update#please just give us a functional video player. I hate not being able to pause it#idk if you can pause videos on desktop since I mainly use Tumblr on my phone#rant/ramble#this turned into a rant#ranting#shitty video player#bad ui

Saw a post I thought did not need a community label. Knowing that there are different categories, I thought the button to suggest a community label would bring up a selection of categories and possibly a button to mark an improperly placed one. Turns out that button doesn't even have a confirmation prompt, so I contributed to the problem. But tumblr claims it's not a big deal because moderation goes through things manually. Even though I just saw that can't be the case.

The most egregious thing about the "snooze Tumblr live" toggle is that it doesn't automatically reset when the snooze time is up.
My bros, this is not how a snooze button works.

Every time I go car hunting, I am met with some absolutely terrible filter design.
If I want cars with less than 100,000 miles, I need to select all the checkboxes under 100,000?? That's what this implies!
It goes up by 999 miles each time. That's insane! No one needs this. Just do a dropdown that goes up a certain number of miles at a time and says "or less" or a "between [ ] and [ ]" field!

Unhinged UI design. Hovering the names will show a URL in the lower left of the browser window (man I miss the status bar down there...). But although it will show the *specific post URL*, when clicked it will actually take you to their blog instead of the post.
Clicking in the empty space of the header will take you to the post... But the most recent one will take you to the current post, not the one reblogged from. Also the only indication that the blank header area is clickable is a very slight grey tint when you hover over it. It does not produce a URL in the lower left of the browser at all.
(I think that probably means they are doing weird JS onclick() shit instead of making it an actual HTML <a> element? Bad practice right there)
Anyway so if you want to jump back in the chain where there was an addition, you can do that (assuming you discover/remember that clicking an empty space does something), but you can't easily go one step back.
IF they made the URL show up and IF they correct the URLs that do show up to show the place it will actually take you and IF they did something to make it more clear the header space is clickable... AND they came out and said that the lack of easy accessibility to the immediate previous post was to combat the "prev tags" nonsense... then I might be able to accept this.

I do not care for ads being able to buy UI space that cannot be hidden. At least I can scroll past ads, but this stupid taskbar doesn't go away. I had to use my ad blocker to block the sticker because it moved periodically and was incredibly distracting to me as an ADHD person.

I had to toggle like 5 different settings before my 'Following' tab stopped being the 'for you tab'. It was entirely recommended posted and nothing from people I actually follow. Dear social media sites, let me give you some free advice that you're probably already ignoring from your Q and A department. People don't like being forced to engage with things they didn't sign up for. If you give the illusion that you can customize your user experiences by picking which people to follow, which tags to explore, which features to engage with, you don't pull the rug from underneath them before resetting all that and putting random stuff instead.
If I'm searching on Google for dolls and you start giving me search results for cars, I will not suddenly decide herr-de-derr, I want a car instead. Ad company, you just wasted money shoving your search result in my face, and made it so I actively associate your brand with being incredibly irritating.
If I'm on Twitter and I'm reading replies to a message I sent, and the flow gets interrupted with an ad, I will not suddenly decide that your product is more important than my conversation. I will not engage with your ad and I will not remember your product to buy later.
If I'm on Tumblr and follow a bunch of artists, shoving a bunch of random other artists that I can't actually see the people I chose to follow means I may just stop using your site entirely out of frustration because it's not providing the service I expect from it.
Companies, you are not increasing your sales, brand awareness or image by tracking people's every movement, interrupting every activity and forcing me to engage with your message, you will not be brainwashing me into purchasing your goods. You are making me hostile towards you. You are making remember when I am in the grocery store *not* to buy your soda because your soda ad was loud and obnoxious and I couldn't turn it off without shutting down an app. You are creating negative associations with your brands. Not it the hell off.
