jeff is sleeping with steve "the hair" harrington's girlfriend, and he's been bragging about it to the band ever since she started flirting with him. eddie usually writes the lyrics for their songs, but in between their actual songs the guys with goof around with a bit that's been going on for the last couple rehearsals. at first its gareth on the drums providing a background track to jeff's recounting of his latest encounter, muttering "stevie doesn't know". it's silly and a catchy beat so the joke keeps coming up during their rehearsals, to the point that they almost have half a song, though the lyrics keep changing depending on what jeff and steve's gf got up to the night before.

and like, its good fun. eddie definitely gets into it when they're just riffing off. and he definitely got no emotional stake in the situation... its not like eddie's had the hots for harrington since '84 when they shared 3rd period english. or the fact that steve's actually a pretty chill dude, a fact he knows because they're kinda sorta friends...

no, eddie's not worried about his friend finding out about his girlfriend's indiscretions. especially not because, he knows what steve gets up to in eddie's van. he can barely hold back his laughter when jeff implies that steve would care what theyre doing when steve is the one sneaking into eddie's trailer.

still he can't help but shouting along with his friends, when they start goofing off. plus he really enjoys seeing his bandmates shocked reactions when the king throws himself at eddie after catching them playing their most recent edition of stevie doesnt know, high pitched feedback ringing throughout the garage when steve pulls eddie into an absolute filthy kiss

stevie doesn't really mind the song, but he loves to sit in on rehearsals much to eddie's delight. steve looks so pretty as he's perched on the hood of eddie's van, his eyes undressing eddie as he slings an arm around his "girlfriend"
