The Muses: Orana

A former slave, Orana is rescued by Garrett Hawke's clan while they were tracking her then-mistress Hadriana. The crew later helping to train and mold her into a talented duelist. While a traumatic past leads her to be more cautious around strangers, Orana is at her core a nurturer, and fiercely driven to succeed as Inquisitor after surviving the Conclave in order to protect and mend a war-torn Thedas for those she loves.

Since I've been seeing chatter on Wonder Woman's depiction in the DCAU a lot lately, here's my Top 9 WW Villains in the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated series!

#9 - Doctor Cyber She's sadly nothing more than a glorified cameo, and the most we see of her is actually a training hologram. She looks great, though, and I applaud the show for using an underutilized but very cool WW villain in any capacity.

#8 - Medusa Like Cyber, Medusa is pretty much a cameo. But unlike Medusa, she gets some spotlight in a decently memorable scene. I do love the idea of her hanging out with Circe in the Underworld, though.

#7 - Angle Man Another cameo villain, but even though he's almost exclusively seen in group shots, Angle Man at least had a voice line AND got an action figure!

#6 - Hades The God of the Underworld is given three episodes as the big bad, but it just doesn't make sense. Hades is almost never a villain in the comics, and now we have this show to blame for everyone thinking he's one of the top tier WW villains. He should have been Ares.

#5 - Cheetah Ugh, where to even begin. This portrayal of Cheetah has largely contributed to the overall idea that Cheetah isn't worthy of being WW's archenemy. Because the show does nothing with her. And instead of using her cool comic backstory, they steal Batman villain Orca's.

#4 - Ares He's only given one episode and it's almost entirely about Hawk and Dove, so... it's not great. But I'm a sucker for handsome blonde Ares, so I'm glad they kept that aspect. He definitely should have been given Hades's role.

#3 - Circe She's fabulous in the show, but the main problem is... Diana barely interacts with her at all! And instead of seeing a great WW vs. Circe episode, we get Batman saving the day YET AGAIN. Circe and her fans deserve better.

#2 - Aresia An "evil Wonder Woman" is a cool idea that HAS been done in the comics, but the show decides to create the new character Aresia. While I wish they had adapted a different character with similar motives (Dalma, Orana, Clea), Aresia is actually pretty fascinating.

#1 - Giganta The writers seemed to love Giganta even if they didn't love having her interact with Diana. She's fun and flirty unlike her main comic version, but she still manages to have some really attention-grabbing action sequences. She also looks great!

Caitir Aldwir - Elven mage. Faction - Veil Jumpers. Romance - Lucanis. I am still developing her character and backstory. She exists in the same timeline as Adrian Hawke who has been lost in the fade for like 10 years when Veilguard starts and who she is going to find in the Crossroads in a currently plotted out but not started canon divergent fic. There is a significant canon divergence in this world too, but it's a spoiler so that's just say someone isn't dead and hope that people get what I am hinting at.

Specific dynamics and such that's currently in my head and long fic WIPs I am working on:

I am currently working on a WIP where Adrian gets found by Caitir at the crossroads after he's been in fade for like a decade.

Currently world building for a post game Fenders in Tevinter canon divergence thing. This will take place in the same universe as my Campfire Snippets and the general idea is that after eventually getting together Anders and Fenris break up after the chantry explosion and don't see or here from each other until years later when they accidentally meet again (somewhere around the time of the end of Dark Fortress but with some slight changes) in a small town on the southern boarder of Tevinter.

Currently rewriting veilguard cutsceens to fit Storm better before starting on his canon divergent rewrite of the game.

🌑Shadow Warlock- Orana🌑

In short, “The girl played with the darkness and climbed towards its ruler.”

📕Backstory: Orana grew up in a very strict family and since childhood she dreamed of wings like the Aasimars from legends and of freedom. When she became a teenager her parents forced her to marry the duke's drinking son to pay off their debt. Orana was furious but could not do anything with her parents or their decision. She got married and almost killed her hubby on her wedding night. She escaped, disguised as a maid, but her flight did not give her freedom - assassins were sent after her. Then Orana plunged into the lands cursed by darkness, where it was so dark that even the murderers would not risk following her. She studied shadow magic for some time in an effort to shackle the minds of her relatives and make them forget about her, and naively believed that her meager knowledge would be enough to withstand the darkness of the cursed lands. She was naive undoubtedly, but ultimately her plan was partially successful; some of the killers who dared to follow her were devoured by hungry shadows. She herself was without any light and her skills were barely enough to “avert her eyes” from the hungry shadows. Amazingly, the dark curse had almost no effect on her.

Orana did not dare to go beyond the cursed area and spent some time there, studying the shadows and their victims from the outside and even deceiving several assassins and taking their things. She slowly began to understand how this chaotic world of shadows worked. But the shadows also began to penetrate her body and consciousness, poisoning her. Dark magic beckoned her and she was unable to stop, finishing off shadow after shadow and collecting their robes. One day she found a lonely shadow that did not attack anyone and hardly moved at all. Without hesitation, Orana tried to finish her off, but she sank to the ground without strength, under the monstrous pressure of the darkness in her heart that had accumulated over all this time. And the shadow, which had a strange narrow cut of “eyes” in the halo of absolute nothing, did not even move… This shadow turned out to be the perverted spirit of this place, which once itself took the shadow into its possession. He became curious; intelligent beings could rarely get into the very center of the shadow, where he meditated, increasing his power. And even more so, very few tried to kill him. He saw in the barely alive girl the potential to increase his own influence and the opportunity to spread his influence beyond the borders of his domain. Moreover, the heart of the girl in front of him was already half swallowed by the shadow, but she was still conscious, albeit barely. He offered her a deal. He will “remake” her human essence so that she does not die and can cultivate shadow magic in herself and use it, and in return she will carry and sow shadows in other places, revealing the dark essence of people and allowing human vices to bloom. Orana didn’t think long, because shadow magic could make her wishes come true and she didn’t care that shadow magic is considered “evil”, because “good” magic has never helped her in her entire life… After accepting the contract, the Spirit of Shadows “remade” her body and initiated her into some of the secrets of magic that draws power from the shadows.

✒Character: Lives one day at a time, vindictive, sharp-tongued and rarely considers other people's opinions. Indulges any of his vices and whims, however, even being a twisted version of his former self, he still keeps his word. She enjoys bringing people together in conflicts and revealing the true essence of “ideal” people, because the quieter the pool, the more devils there are inside. He does not like “naive good-natured people” and tries to reveal their darkest thoughts with double effort, because he is afraid that these people can remind her of who she was and try to bring her back to the "light side".

🌀Skills: Major specialist in manipulation, intrigue and deception. He lies like he breathes. She feeds (both morally and physically) from human negativity and often provokes it herself. Doesn't shy away from dirty methods achieves everything not by force but by cunning and charm. In battle he uses magic that feeds on shadows.

✨Features: She originally had black hair and scarlet eyes, but after her body was “reforged,” her hair turned white and her eyes became two pools with a dull scarlet sparkle of her former color in the center. There's her contract stamp on her stomach, where she draws energy for her magic. She did get her wings, but not the way she wanted. She cannot fly, and her wings are made of shadow and can envelop those she touches.

Тогда Орана сунулась в проклятые тьмой земли, туда, где было настолько темно, что даже убийцы не рискнули бы за ней последовать. Она некоторое время изучала теневую магию в стремлении сковать разум родственников и заставить их забыть о ней и наивно полагала, что её скудных знаний хватит, чтобы противостоять тьме проклятых земель. Потакает любым своим порокам и прихотям, однако даже будучи извращённой версией себя прежней, всё ещё держит своё слово. Ей доставляет удовольствие сталкивать людей в конфликтах и раскрывать истинную сущность "идеальных" людей, ведь чем тише омут, тем больше внутри чертей. Rae - (He/they) This one is a collaboration with my best friend, we play psychically linked twin Davati/Half-Elves, Rae is a ranger and his twin Ren is a rogue. The two are basically polar opposites with Ren being the impulsive, hot headed one and Rae being the level headed one. Tragic backstory includes: abandoned at birth, raised in slavery, psychically linked twin tried to kill himself

Orana - (She/her) Just your average lesbian pirate (halfling swashbuckler), she once cut a man’s dick off. Tragic backstory includes: abandoned at birth, raised by pirates is that a bad thing?, love of her life lied to her and used her.

Nasra “Natalia” - (She/her) Aasimar bard, former circus performer (she was an aerial dancer), lies about her entire life, truth comes out with trust and/or alcohol. Tragic backstory includes: dead parents, dead everyone, doesn’t trust people.

I need help building a character! Above are the dice that I’m planning on using for this character and below is a small summary of what I have so far.

Background: Pirate

Backstory: “I don’t remember much before the captain found me, I was young, that much I remember, don’t remember a family, but the captain took care of that, he and the crew they became my new family, we had each other’s backs. I know we weren’t the most orthodox family, but they were all I had. I grew up on the seas and I grew up on ale, but what do you expect from a pirate? I don’t remember much about my time on land, but I do remember her. We docked in some small town and went to the nearest pub for a pint and as soon as we walked in I couldn’t take my eyes off her, she was as beautiful as the night stars, and that’s not a compliment I give lightly. I wanted to stay, I wanted her to come, but my ship needed me and she had a family to take care of. I promised that I would come back, I knew that I had to, I left her with a ring, my favorite ring, I wish I could say it was a family heirloom... I would’ve given her anything to make her happy I would’ve pulled the moon from the sky just to see her smile.”

What im trying to decide is what happened to the girl she left behind and also details about the girl she left behind (name, race, class, etc). My ideas for what happened to the girl are as follows:

Okay, so she’s a lesbian pirate and when her ship docked at one point she fell in love but had to leave cause her ship needed her, when she returned she was heartbroken,

1. She thought Orana was dead, and moved on

2. She got amnesia and forgot that Orana existed

3. She was playing Orana and never actually cared about her

4. She’s dead

Okay, this is set to be posted for 7:15 Friday evening, just because I want to see how much I guessed for our D&D game

A little backstory, in case any of you are interested or following along at home, last session. Our characters went to sleep in some weird otherdimensional space and woke up and things... were just fine. Things were exactly as they always had been. 

Whisper woke up in her friend Sin’s bed, because she had never left the circus. Why would she want to, when these people were already her family? What greater adventures could she have than the ones she was already having?

So here are my predictions for the other character’s Turn Left scenarios:

1.) Frank and Oriana are dead. The party never formed so Orana and Frank had to save themselves from the hill giants, probably made it just fine through the underdark and into the dragon’s cave... where they were probably defeated very quickly.The last thing Oriana remembers is succumbing to the cold  (this isn’t much of a prediction, this was pretty much confirmed but i’m including it anyway). 

2.) Thia is living in her sister’s castle. I’m thinking it’s the “Thia has always been a noblewoman” scenario, and that she and Chealyn grew up together and have a great relationship. 3.) I am betting here that Adoraor is still an assassin; either he had a change of heart and decided not to leave, or they blackmailed him into staying or something. Whatever it is, I’m thinking he’s sent after the thunderstick, since the last two chuckleheads that got sent after it failed.

4.) I don’t know much about Isao’s backstory to speculate, but I’ve been thinking he was part of some black ops/spy bullshit, since that’s usually where shady shit and military shit intersect. He's probably still doing whatever that entailed, though why that would cause him to run into us? Who knows. Maybe he's spying on Chealyn. God knows she's got enough shady shit to warrent it.

5.) I'm betting Twiggy is living in his worst nightmare: being a semi-successful elf merchant. His family found him and only let him keep travelling if he sold things like a good scion of... whatever his clan’s name is idk. 

Shade of course is exempt from this supposition, as he did not enter the weird other world/dream realm/whatever. Toss up as to whether he’ll come in and/or whether he’ll be the one to drag us out. 

I guess we’ll see.

7. Favorite DA:O backstory?

female city elf! Probably bc Tabris was the first warden i finished the game with. Also - I like the idea that that's were Duncan would go given his own backstory. Plus, I like the drama of you're out saving the world and you can go in and out of Denerim but there's the looming threat of the Alienage being locked with no explanation. Then the added tension of finding out what Loghain did to the elves right before the Landsmeet. Also also - a lot of the sketchier side quests make more sense to me like I can't see a Cousland or an Aeducan working with Slim Couldry but Tabris? Course.

49. Something you do in EVERY DA playthrough, no matter what?

I've played my canon worldstate a few times through and tend to make all the same choices haha off the top of my head, a few things I've always done no matter what though ... 1) Free Cyrion during Unrest in the Alienage, 2) hire Orana in DA2, 3) take Vivienne to the Winter Palace

MAIN CHARACTERS IN WONDER WOMAN AND THIER NATIONALITY.

Dr. Poison -Spanish Artemis -Black/American Orana- Chinese-Singaporean Diana Prince- Israeli The rest of them are all white/American/European/other white nationality... THIS REALLY SUCKS BECAUSE THIS IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT MOVIE TO YOUNG GIRLS. Boys have Ironman, Spiderman, Batman, AquaMan, The Flash, Arrow, Superman, fucking AntMan, do I really need to go on? And so far girls have "evil" villians like Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman,Then on the good side you have Black Widow, Wanda Maximoff, and I think that may be it for Marvel and DC movies. Please take note, none of those women are the main villian/hero in those movies, they don't get to wear anything that isn't designed for sex appeal, most get no real backstory besides 5 min. tops of the entire freaking movie. WONDER WOMAN IS OUR MOVIE. WE FINALLY GET TO SEE NOT ONE BUT MULTIPLE BAD ASS FEMALES KICK ADS AND FIGHT FOR JUSTICE AND BE THE MAIN ONE TO DO THE WORLD SAVING. AND THERE ARE FOUR POC IN THE MAIN CAST OF LIKE 12-15 PEOPLE. AND ONLY ONE OF THEM IS DARKER THAN A BROWN PAPER BAG. THIS IS WHY LITTLE KIDS THAT AREN'T WHITE GET BULLIED AND THINK THEY'RE UGLY WHEN THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN WHO SHOULDN'T BE THINKING ABOUT THE COLOR OF THIER SKIN OR THE SHAPE OF THEIR FEATURES OR THEIR HAIR, THEY SHOULD BE PLAYING HAPPY AND CAREFREE.
