Hope you don't feel pressure to try to make Ear canon in any AU! I love cute kid OCs and seeing what characters could be like as parents as much as anyone else but I know some people can get overly insistent that artists give their characters kids as soon as the idea comes up. That being said I do have to admit what little you've shared about how they'd be as parents sounds very heartwarming. I'm a sucker for when someone is determined to make sure a kid has it better than they did when they were young like Machete would be, and how that can sometimes help to heal pains from their own childhood. Vasco would be wonderful too of course! He may have had a better childhood but I'm sure there are things he struggled with or wished could've been different. All fun ideas, but if Ear remains as just an idea that is absolutely okay!

Aw it's okay. A tiny bit pressured but in an encouraging/inspiring way, I don't think I'm going to lose sleep over it.

It would be really interesting to see how parenthood would alter their relationship and self-image, it could potentially expand their character into unexpected directions. Ear seems like a likable pup, they'd be a fun character to develope.

On the other hand I'm fond of their dynamic as is, I think they're happy that way. It's still typical that couples are expected to want to have children and start a family, it's seen as the norm and the next logical step after getting married. I like the idea of them feeling content and complete in their relationship even if it's just the two of them, and showing that the absence of offspring doesn't make their union any less valid and committed.

People really do everything they can to avoid having children and to bar children from public places and then wonder why the world seems dull and pointless.

People try to hold onto their own youth, but that just means they stagnate in immaturity. The real way to regain that child-like wonder is to see the world through the eyes of an actual child, and you do that by helping new children to experience the world.

Sure they have. When they're old enough that Spice and Golden feel they can be trusted to venture outside (as in, the wider world beyond the kingdom gates/spice tribe outskirts) without supervision, they run into all sorts of trouble. Monsters, bandits, rivals and enemies of their parents and their peoples... People and things that either don't know better (not everyone knows who the Soul Jam wielders are, believe it or not, much less their children) or don't care (maybe they went after the kids on purpose, even). It's never a problem, though; the kids are tough and they've been trained for things like this. They can handle themselves. So long as they don't go out TOO far and come home on time and (mostly) unharmed, they're free to explore as they wish.

And again, really... You'd be surprised at who goes after these little goobers. Doesn't matter who they are, doesn't matter who their parents are. Doesn't matter that their dad was a damn Beast with who knows how many gallons of blood on his hands. Like I said, not everyone knows and not everyone cares. Plenty of foolhardy assholes in the world who think they're better than God, and won't listen when told otherwise. (Not until the truth is beaten into them, anyway.)

Besides the ones I've listed, there's... one more. One more person who thinks- no, actually, he KNOWS he can take out those damn kids. He can take out their parents, too. He can take out whoever he damn wants, and what's anyone going to do about it? Huh? HUH?!

If you're wondering who this is... I don't wanna spoil it just yet lol. It's a big story arc that I can't wait to flesh out. But I will say he's got something to do with whatever's going on in Beast-Yeast...

It's Bill and Paul headcanon time!

Featuring the Jon Matteson family tree!

Bill is quite a bit older than Paul, being 43 in TGWDLM, while Paul is 31. For Paul to be Richie's uncle, he'd need a sibling (most likely a sister, considering the different last names) who's also a fair bit older. If Paul's sister (Richie, Trevor and Daniel's mother) was 12 years older than him, that would make her 27 at the time of having the twins, which is a very fair age to start a family.

My sister and I have named her Joan Lipschitz, after Jon. And that should have you all caught up on our Jon Matteson family tree.

NOW! Bill and Joan went to school together at Sycamore, and they were in the same, fairly big (8–9 people) friend group. The two of them as a pair weren't super frickin close or anything, but in the company of others from the group, they did visit each other's houses sometimes.

The first time Bill met Paul, Bill was 16 and Paul was 4, and Bill + a few friends were hanging out at the Matthews' house. Bill hung out at Joan's a few more times, meeting her baby brother maybe 10–15 times in total throughout high school.

Bill and Joan weren't close enough to keep in close touch once they graduated, but they were (and are) still friendly with each other. Eg. if they run into each other at the supermarket, they'll stop in the middle of the aisle and spend fifteen minutes catching up, much to Alice, Trevor, Richie and Daniel's dismay. (The first time Bill met Trevor and Richie, probably under exactly those circumstances, he was like "Wow, they look almost exactly like how I remember your little brother!". Matthews genes are STRONG).

Anyway, skip forward a few years, Bill's 36 and Paul's 24, and Paul starts working at the CCRP technical department. Bill was immediately like, "Huh, I feel like I recognize you." (Again, 'cause the genes in that family are fucking strong; Joan basically looks like a female version of Paul). Paul's like, "Huh. I don't recognize you." and then he leaves it at that.

A day or two later, it finally clicks for Bill, and in the middle of their noon coffee break, Bill just goes, "OH MY, PAUL MATTHEWS AS IN JOAN MATTHEWS' BABY BROTHER?"

And that was the true beginning of their friendship, thank you very much.

My mom briefly kinda blamed me for my nephew allegedly getting food poisoning when he got home (because I wasn't browbeaten into babysitting my nephew by my sister) but now we just deduced that my sister is probably lying about the whole thing to manipulate us into feeling bad whenever we put our foot down with her but its also shitty to think my mom firstly blames me for my sister being a shitty mom and not picking up her slack instead of the shitty mom

Auntie Audrey babysitting her Nephew, @lovelylivelyv 's Jack Nephalem! Too good-natured children of the darkness interacting! I love the idea of WIR-Verse Audrey meeting and babysitting her Cousin's son and them having an Aunt and Nephew relationship, where Audrey's the sensible one to his more impulsive chaotic nature but is playful and mischievious enough she'll go along with his schemes sometimes. And he brings her out of her shell and gets her to have fun, enjoy life, and that one can be proud to be a toon/ink monster. But most of all, I loved the idea of Jack drawing pictures (like his family members) and Audrey complimenting him on them. I kinda based Jack's drawings on spooky kid drawings, but there's still a blursed sweetness to it.

Bonus: I hid some of Audrey's memories in here that Audrey let Jack use: Cup, Crayons, Paper Airplane, Milk Carton, Baseball, and Hotdog.
