So....I did a thing...

Just to be clear, this is my first fanart that ever did while using digital media (I did draw on paper a sketch of it, but most of it I did in an illustrator using my mouse).

It is showing? Totally. Did I tried my best? Well, I tried... Did it make me admire actual fanartist even more? Oh, definitely, there is no question in that...

The impact of @kuttithevangu's When the Angels Left the Old Country has gone deeper than any of us could have predicted: for the first time in my life, I have drawn (or, well... attempted to draw) fanart

(The words in the middle are y'did nefesh, AKA friend of the soul, AKA the line that reduces me to a state of hopelessly soft feelings every time I remember it. Paired with this particular drawing because @matt-in-the-hat mentioned that the word y'did, when written in Hebrew, looks like the words yad-yad, or hand-hand. And friends walk hand in hand.)

With gratitude to the denizens of the WTALTOC Discord server for encouraging me to try drawing something for... the first time in a very long time! Even if the best I could manage were stick figures.

Nibor's White Honey fic is the most compelling WIP in my reading list right now. (White Honey - Nibor - Wiedźmin | The Witcher - All Media Types [Archive of Our Own]) It's not light reading-- Jaskier's fighting depression and substance abuse, and Geralt's struggling to be the support he needs-- but it's full of all these painfully real moments that keep me coming back. I've been wanting to learn some art skills, and on one of my rereads of the fic, this scene stuck out as inspo. Please don't judge the quality of the fic based on the quality of the art! "He feels useful, even if he's not working hard. The agony in his soul withers a bit, and he can breathe."
