Okay late night Halloween post let’s go. What are the xmen dressed up as?

Professor x- he’s doctor who and he turns his wheelchair into a tardis

Magneto- he refuses to dress up- okay but only because Charles and his kids asked… and now he’s captain Jack harness… at least it’s a low key costume

Quicksilver- he goes as the flash, he thinks he’s funny

Scarlet witch- she drags her whole family into doing a “monster mash” costume, she’s a witch, vision is frankensteins monster, Tommy’s a mummy, Billy’s a vampire, and Viv is a sheet ghost

Kitty- she’s a pirate, she usually does it as a duo costume with Kurt but this year he was really set on mandalorian. Lockheed gets to be her parrot

Emma- cruela Devil. Idk why it just fits her.

Scott and Jean- Barbie and Ken, need I say more?

Bobby- tried to be a sexy firefighter but got self conscious last minute despite the fact he wears booty shorts to work. He instead went with a shirt saying “this is my Halloween costume”- this excludes math teacher era Bobby who wore a dumb pun likely consisting of a pumpkin costume with π on the front. Haha get it pumpkin pie? He’s so lame the kids love him.

Jubilee- draculara from monster high, g1 of course, shogo gets to be a cute little bat.

Ororo- the iconic Aubrey Hepburn look from breakfast at Tiffany’s

Kurt- he’s the mandalorian, whatever bamf he catches and wrangles into a costume first gets to be baby yoda, they’re fine with it once they get an unhealthy amount of candy as compensation. Kurt’s having too much fun.

Rouge and gambit- they do a couples costume, probably something slightly cringe like cop and prisoner (remys the prisoner, rouges the cop) but only because Barbie and Ken were already taken.

Logan- he didn’t wanna dress up. Jubilee gets him a Freddy Krueger costume anyway. He may or may not wear it.

Laura and gabby- Laura wasn’t going to do anything but gabby begged her, they’re going as stitch characters… no not lilo and stitch or Nani and lilo. Gabby is stitch and Laura is Nina. Don’t tell gabby it doesn’t make sense as a duo fit, she’s having too much fun trick or treating.

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 68 (A House Fire with No Fire on Spooky Party Day?!)

While Heather and Conrad got ready for guests to arrive, Malcolm sent a few pictures of Ash dressed in his bunny costume. Going trick or treating in the building today, he reported. Heather smiled.

Glad you're all having fun, she wrote back. Civility with her son's father could be nice.

Focused on the party, Heather was determined to redeem herself after her botched attempt to throw a Spooky Day party back in high school. This time, she made sure to note it was a costume party, and all her guests confirmed they'd show up dressed accordingly!

Her youngest sister, Hazel, arrived early with her fiancee, Nicola. They were staying the night in the upstairs guestroom, excited for a short getaway on the coast before their upcoming wedding.

"The decorations look great!" Hazel gushed. "Spooky record player!"

"Does anyone smell fire?" Nicola sniffed the air. "I hate fire."

"I don't smell anything," said Conrad. The only thing he smelled was his spinach and cheese omelet.

They went about the afternoon and finished setting up for the party. Conrad left for a short walk with Gord, and the fire Nicola smelled finally materialized in the bedroom! Heather, Hazel, and Nicola ran toward the flame, screaming incoherently, until Heather finally grabbed an extinguisher and put out the blaze.

From the delayed fire, they suffered damage to a bathroom countertop, mirror, Heather and Conrad's bed, and a bedside table. A cluster of wall hangings also burned, but considering how long the flames had burned invisibly, they were grateful the damage hadn't been any worse!

(I assume the lack of a visible fire for so long was a glitch, but I'm also at a loss as to how it started. They lost a decor hairdryer in the blaze, but it doesn't even plug in. Sorry for walls down in the second shot when the fire finally showed up, but I was kinda flabbergasted!

The fire actually looks like it started in the bedroom - I thought bathroom at first, so we could blame the Scare Seeker lot trait which was on when the fire began! Also yes I bought a bassinet in anticipation before they lost the baby and it's just sitting there waiting. Didn't burn!)

They managed to replace the damaged furniture, clean up, and get changed into their costumes before guests arrived. Conrad had time to finish the spooky cookies, and Heather handed out candy to a few trick or treaters. One in particular made her smile.

"What planet are you from, Master Yoda?"

"Everyone knows Yoda's home planet has never been confirmed," scoffed the masked child. Impressed, Heather gave her extra candy.

Just like in high school, Heather painted herself blue to dress as a Twi'lek, determined this time to get at least one picture of herself for all the effort. She was all dressed up and prepping some last minute treats in the kitchen when Conrad the Sexy Mailman walked in.

"Say, there, sexy alien lady. Did you have any mail you need delivered?" He shook his hips in his tight bicycle shorts, and Heather nearly abandoned the stove to drag him to the bedroom.

"Don't tempt me. This blue paint will get everywhere."

Instead, they posed for a couple photos to send back to Malcolm.

Heather carved pumpkins as guests arrived, while Conrad challenged one of his coworkers to a game of chess. They'd invited all Heather's siblings, but Kris and Holly were busy with their newborn daughter, Tetra, and couldn't make it.

But Uncle Karl arrived in a gladiator suit with his husband Mortimer. "They send their love and asked us to bring home some spooky cookies and candy!"

Heather's high school friend, Dylan, arrived with her husband Gavin, and Heather greeted them with a smile. Gavin's rented spacesuit made for an awkward hug, and Dylan showed up in the same Twi'lek costume and blue body paint as Heather. "I'm so glad you could make it. And you got my text!"

"I don't know why you were afraid to wear such a revealing costume by yourself. You look great! But I have come all the way from the planet Ryloth to join you here on Simlandia for the evening's festivities. I look forward to observing human behaviour in such a strange environment."

Heather laughed. "How's life with two kids under four?"

"Way harder than life with just Pearl," said Gavin. "Whenever Darrell cries, she starts crying, too. Thank goodness her mom agreed to watch the kids tonight. If Dylan and I don't let our hair down a little, we might go insane."

"He's exaggerating...kinda. We love them, but we're happy to get out of the apartment for a while," said Dylan, sipping her Spooky Day-themed 'blood' cocktail.

River and Cass showed up with her mother Bella Goth, and Everett danced the night away with Spencer. Even Heather's parents, Daisy and Neal, stayed until late.

Taking a break from dancing to Latin Pop tunes blasting from the Grimophone, Everett joined Heather outside. She was carving a pumpkin and enjoying the temperate evening, and Heather's costume nearly knocked him over with nostalgia. "You still look incredible in blue paint. Hope you got some pictures this time."

"This was a much more successful Spooky Day party than my first attempt, thank you very much."

"You and Conrad are great hosts."

They caught one another up on their sons and laughed together in the moonlight, but after everything they'd been through, and where they were in their lives now, their high school kiss under the stars was a distant memory.

"It's funny, you and Malcolm both dressed up as pirates this year. And Malcolm Landgraab as a pirate is just...there's this old story about a pirate queen who cursed the Landgraabs," she said.

(I put Malcolm in a pirate costume on purpose, Everett just appreciates giving me symbolism with Heather's two past loves dressed in the same costume that happens to remind her of the curse she fears will harm her son!)

"I'm not a fan of Malcolm Landgraab, but I trust in the Watcher far too much to put any stock in curses."

Heather shook off the conversation. A priest couldn't talk to her about curses or raising the dead. For the first time in her life, she couldn't talk to her best friend. She glanced through the kitchen window, where Conrad was chatting with Bella Goth. These days, he was the person she could tell everything.

Before he stood to head back inside, Everett smiled. "It's nice to know you know how to throw a costume party, after all," he teased. Heather laughed to herself.

Though she'd worn the same costume as she did back in high school, she was such a different person now. ->

You hummed to yourself while you made dinner, wearing nothing but a tank top and some low sweatpants. Today was a good day, so you were smiling like an idiot while the frying pan was sizzling.

Not often did you get breaks from Overwatch, but when you did, it was always a good time where you could just stay home and do whatever you wanted.

It just kind of sucked that you couldn't spend that time with your boyfriend, who didn't get to take the day off.

But then again, it was always nice to get a break from that cowboy sometimes.

Speaking of, you heard the door click open and the spur of his boots clink on the ground.

"Cole, baby, is that you?" you asked over the sizzling food.

"Yup. Just me, pumpkin, don't worry." He sounded tired.

"How was your day?"

You saw him turn the corner and gasped as he was covered in scratches and bruises that were covered up to their best ability.

"Oh my god, what happened?" you asked, rushing over to him.

"Oh this? It's nuthin'. Don't worry about me, m'kay?" He pressed a kiss to your forehead and took a seat at the dining room table.

"Dammit, Cassidy, I hate when you come home looking like this."

"You've come home worse." he chuckled.

"Yeah, but I can deal with it. I don't like you all hurt."

"I'm fine." he reassured you, watching you cook. "It's just little stuff, that's all. Hurts like hell, but I'm fine."

You sighed. "You better be."

"You know what would help though?"

You cocked an eyebrow when you saw him smirk. "What?"

"Warm dinner. A nice shower. And some cuddle time with my honey."

You smiled. "That does sound nice."

He stood up and walked over to you semi-weakly, but managed to wrap his arms around you, rubbing his thumbs lightly over your waist.

"Smells good." he said.

"Thanks."

"Mhm." He kissed your head and leaned his chin there, just watching you cook. "How was your day off?"

"Relaxing. But I missed you."

"Course you did."

"Shut up." you giggled, plating both of your food.

As you two ate, he told you all about his day fighting dozens of different people and winning, but leaving with pain like no other. How Torb had to swoop in and help, trying to carry Cassidy's fat ass.

You laughed with him and he couldn't help but blush at you.

"All right. Wanna take that shower?" You took both of the empty plates and put them in the sink for later.

"Yes please." he sighed.

You pressed a kiss to his jaw and led him to the shower.

You helped wash all the dry blood off of his body and even washed his hair, which he nearly melted due to the way your nails dug into his scalp.

After the shower though, he wanted to spoil you and carried you to your bed, pressing kisses all over your face.

"St-Stop!" you giggled. "Be careful, Cole, you're still recovering."

"Eh, I'm fine." He kissed you on the lips and looked at you with loving eyes. "If anything, this is making me feel better."

You cupped his face and gave him a kiss on the nose before scratching his beard. "God, you're so pretty." you told him.

He laid next to you and held you in his arms. "You're so pretty."

"Good job today." You kissed him one last time, but he was already out like a light.

A Babys Space Halloween

After leaving Navarro behind to begin to look for the child's people ( even if you didnt want to give him up). you had been traveling with din since tattooine. he trusted you to look after the child and be able to fight..... even if he didn't quite like it. but thats not the point. 

it was nearing the time of year at your home planet where Halloween is taking place, pumpkins being painted or cut into jack-o-lanterns to glow in the dark of night. children and adults dressing up as characters or just dressing up in general. a time of candy and fun. it was something you missed the most of your home. and looking at your small son you wanted him to partake in this tradition as well, for as long as you had him for. and you knew you had the perfect costume for the little one. you just had to convince your riduur to let you carve pumpkins and have them on the crest for a little bit.

as you walked up behind your riduur in the cockpit he turned around to look at you through his visor. you tilted your head and gave him a sweet smile that usually ended with you getting your way. “ My dear husband, I know you are not one to follow traditions outside of your own for holidays, ( excluding the times he's tried like for Christmas). But on my home planet around this time we have a day called Halloween. I wanna know if I can bring it on the crest?” You rested a hand on his pauldron.

he tilted his head more at to look at your face and tilt his head, even though you knew what he looked like he still found comfort in wearing his bucket so you never pressured him into removing it. He sighed “ and what are apart of these tradtions of yours” you squealed in excitement and rattled off the list of things you needed.

Din walked down the ramp to go gather materials needed for the ship and for you to decorate the hull of the crest. He promised to get back in three hours, which left you and the child to your own devices for a while. you looked at the child “ my little trouble maker do you want to help me with something?” He’s at your leg try to crawl up your pant leg. “I’ll take that as a yes”

You grabbed the youngling and grabbed some of the scrap pieces Din kept around the ship for emergency repairs. “Time to get to work on this costume”

A few hours later din is walking back to the ship with some pumpkin-like plants and he sees you have placed your lights back up in the Hull of the ship but these ones are purple, where you keep them he doesn't know. but he knows he hears you in the sleep area and has missed you and the child.

"hold on little one, I know he is back but you need to wait. One last finishing touch and you can show your Buir your little costume."

a few babbles can be heard from the kid as he responds to you

but a few moments later you came out from the area shielding the child from his view, you can almost feel your husband raise his eyebrow under the helmet.

you just gave him a small smile and dramatically spread your arms comically wide and said

"may I present to you the best bounty hunter in this parsec" The room door slides open

din felt his heart fill with warmth at the sight of the kid dressed like him..

grogu waddled up to his father and raised his arms

"alright cryika what next?" both of your boys look at you

" time to eat candy, stay up wayyyyyy to late and watch holo vids"

"thats it?"

'normally we would go door to door for candy, but i dont think you would be down to do that"

"alright.... which candy first"

the rest of the night was spent watching holovids and eating too mant sweets and cookies

These are both deductions, but both involve different things, so I wanted to talk about them. We're gonna work backwards to get an idea of how these deductions were made.

With the first one, rogha had a baseline of his friend and his friend broke the baseline - that is the main way that rogha was able to deduce that his friend's baby had been born.

To make that deduction, the baseline must have been that rogha's friend is an active Twitter user - it is uncommon for him to not be active on Twitter for a day. So, when he was, rogha could have asked: what could cause him to be occupied enough to not be on Twitter? If he is normally active on Twitter daily, then normal, daily activities like work/school/etc. would not be the cause. So *something* not typical happened to rogha's friend that day - something that took up a significant portion (if not all) of the day.

This is where knowledge about his friend helps - his friend has a heavily pregnant wife, who could go into labor at any time, so his wife going into labor is a likely reason for his friend to not be on Twitter.

Of course, a different *something* could have come up, so there was some risk involved in this deduction, but rogha turned out to be right.

With the second one, baselines are not really involved. Instead, rogha is relying on an understanding of the culture & typical behavior of where he and his friend live. In their environment/culture, "pumpkin" is a very popular Halloween costume for infants (and toddlers) - so it is easy and readily available to buy (Note: I know from my experience how popular a costume "pumpkin" is and has been for several decades in the U.S., so for the purposes of this post I'm assuming this is the United States).

Of course, just because the costume is popular does not mean every couple with a baby dresses their baby up as a pumpkin - there are outliers. But is rogha's friend likely to be an outlier? This requires rogha to have knowledge of his friend and what other sorts of costumes are possible. One possible costume route is what I'll call the nerd route - while pumpkin is a popular costume in general, for nerdier people, dressing up as a character from a piece of media for Halloween may be the preferred choice over a more "popular" or "standard" Halloween costume (think pumpkins, cats, witches).

For a young couple and baby, a nerd costume example would be doing Han Solo, Leia, and Baby Yoda. Rogha must know enough about his friend to know that his friend is not a "nerdy Halloween" type of guy (or his wife wouldn't be interested in that at least), so he is more likely to go the standard, popular route - thus, fat baby pumpkin is a likely choice. Again, there's a risk in this deduction, but rogha came to the "most likely" conclusion both times and ended up being spot on.
