Random thought I had to day in my college class.What if goose and carole never died and gay marriage was legalized earlier so maverick and ice got married in the 90s. The four of them never wanted Bradley to join the navy because of how smart he is. Because they saw how many baseball scholarships he was being offered. Along with the number of academic scholarships he was Offered. So the four of them sit him down. And flat out asked him. Are you doing this because you want to follow in your uncles and your father’s footsteps or are you doing this for yourself. Bradley flat out told them I’m doing this for myself. This is something I’ve always wanted. I have loved the navy ever since my first flight with uncle maverick. I want to do something for my country. So yes, I do want to follow in footsteps of the three most important men in my life.With that answer the four of them excepted it. A couple of years later when Bradley graduated top of his top gun class. Ice told him welcome to the only club your father and godfather will never be in. Of course maverick had to remind ice that he is the most decorated captain in the navy history. Goose and Carole would just laugh.

Camera turns to Maverick who’s struggling to breathe on the floor due to his abundant laughter.

Had some kind of idea where Goose and Carole don't meet when he's in the Academy. She doesn't move to Annapolis and meet him, instead she studies English at the University of Texas. Goose's life goes as normal, he becomes a RIO, meets Mav and starts his flight training, ending up in Corpus Christi. This is where Carole's family lives, and after she graduates, is celebrating. She gets very drunk and ends up in a bar where a blond guy with a pornstache and aviators is playing her favourite song on the piano, this is obviously Goose. They have a drunken hook up and she wakes up to see him gone and only knowing his callsign.

A few weeks later, she doesn't get her period and finds herself having weird cravings and feeling sick a lot. Her sister tells her to take a pregnancy test, she rolls her eyes but does one anyway and find out that she's pregnant. She doesn't know how to find Goose, she only knows his callsign after all, so becomes a single mother.

Goose's life goes mostly the same. He still ends up at Top Gun, even gets together with Slider, and still goes through the accident on Hop 31. He does survive, but the story ends up on the news. Carole, reading the newspaper, sees a story about a RIO called Goose getting into an accident and connects the dots.

She writes to him, invites him to Corpus Christi if he wants to figure out if he has a son. The Top Gun guys are sceptical but go. Carole doesn't bring Bradley straight away, she says to Goose she wants him to do a paternity test because she knows her baby boy is sensitive and doesn't want to mess up his happy life if she can help it.

Yet again, the Top Gun guys are sceptical again but Goose goes ahead. It can't hurt even if he isn't Bradley dad, right?

Carole gets the results and invites them over for dinner to get the results. But when they arrive, he's playing outside and Goose know that he's his son. He can't quite say why, but he just knows. The paternity test proves he's his son.

This is wear I run out of ideas. I do like this, I'm imagining some angst later on with Goose enjoying life as a dad but then gets called back to active duty, Carole getting pissed because he can just go as he pleases but she's always been there, maybe her regreting bringing him into Bradley's life and Slider eventually talking to her. I don't know

Out of all the '86 flyboys who became like uncles to little Bradley, it wasn't Mav, it wasn't Slider, it wasn't even Wolf or Wood- who taught him his first swear word, it was Ice He'd done it with his nieces and nephews and little cousins before, so why would Bradley be any different? Of course, he figured one of the others would have beat him to it, but the shocked and speechless look on Maverick's face told him otherwise.

When no one had been looking, he'd quietly beckoned Bradley over with a "Hey, baby Goose, com'ere." When Bradley's little voice had proudly chirped "fuck" over the dinner table, Maverick had immediately choked on his food and dropped his fork while Carole immediately burst out in laughter so contagious, Ice couldn't help but catch on. Mav's pale face and shocked expression only making the situation funnier.

"Carol, I swear- I didn't- I never-" Maverick rushed to defend himself.

"Oh honey, I know. And I know I didn't, which means," Carol turned on Ice then, and damn. He didn't think of that. He figured Maverick would've already pulled the stunt. "Mr. Goody two-shoes, Thomas 'Iceman' Kazansky, is the first person to teach my son a swear word." Carol cackled while pointing and accusing finger at him.

"Ice-" Maverick implored in disbelief.

"Well, I figured-" Ice gestured over to Maverick while struggling to conceal his grin.

The conversation turned from their to all three adult coaching little Bradley on how, yes- that is a word, and no, it's not a very nice one that should ever be used, all while desperately trying to suppress their laughter.

However it was Ice who would suffer the unforseen consequences of his little prank, as over the years, neither Maverick nor Bradley- now proudly Rooster, would ever let him forget that it was Admiral Thomas "Iceman" Kazansky, Commander of the Pacific Fleet who had taught him his first swear word.

Bradley looks out through the window in front of him, sat upright in the bed, back against the headboard as he watches the sunrise. The two of you had booked a small cabin on the beach for a few weeks, just while you got your feet here in Miramar. Bradley’s grasp held you closer, he drew his eyes away from the growing horizon and down to where you were sat in his lap. Your head was dipped as you allowed your little baby boy to have his breakfast; eyes closed while he nursed gently on your swollen nipple. Bradley’s heart swelled with love as your tired eyes looked back at him, rocking gently to soothe your new son. He offered a small, loving smile as he leant to kiss your forehead.

He could get used to this.
