Hello I’m new to reading about Elvis and I’m reading Baby Let’s Play House for the first time and I was wondering if you could talk more about his relationships with some underage girls. I know you said nothing sexual went on with Arlen Cogan but there are several other girls in the book who were fourteen when they got with Elvis like Sandy Ferra who he met after Priscilla. I guess I just want to know why he was so drawn to that age when he could date women his own age? Wasn’t he worried about being caught?

hello and thank you for the ask!! as for baby let’s play house there are some great stories in there but please take into account that Alanna Nash has an agenda, so much so that she uses several people who have fabricated their stories, such as Byron Raphael who never actually worked for Elvis

as for your question “why was he so drawn to that age”; this is an extremely heavy topic and something that has no right answer because we simply don’t know for sure outside of speculation

so I just wanna say a quick disclaimer that i’ve said before: I obviously didn’t know Elvis, only Elvis know why he did the things he did, and all we can do speculate based on the sources we have

firstly I want to just show all the girls that have reportedly had a relationship with Elvis while they were 14 (all of which, which the exception of Priscilla, have said that nothing sexual occurred besides general affection and kissing)

I think it’s important to note these girls are the outliers and Elvis normally sought out women who fell into an appropriate age range

Now there has been tons of speculation as to why this age seems to be reoccurring when looking at girls who have been linked to Elvis but in my opinion the most plausible reason is what was said by Joe Esposito

In his book “Good Rockin Tonight”, Esposito says :

“Elvis demanded absolute control in his relationships. That’s why he preferred young, unworldly women. Maybe he was retaliating unconsciously for the rejections he had suffered from girls before he became a star”

now when I first read this I was shook because I think it explains a lot:

In Elaine Dundy’s “Elvis and Gladys” book she tells a story about how when Elvis was younger in school, that other children would write “Elvis likes (name of a girl)” as a way to embarrass the girl because the worst possible thing was to be liked by Elvis as he wasn’t popular and a loner throughout most of his school years. Therefore he didn’t have many, if any, relationships during his formative years and was ultimately rejected by most girls

Reeca Smith, who was briefly involved with Elvis in 1974, recently said in the Amazon prime documentary that when she asked Elvis why he wanted to be with her he said that she reminded him of his childhood, which based on the quote from Joe, I interpreted that as she reminded him of the kind of girl he never got to be with and by being with her he would be able to revert back to a simpler time before fame when girls didn’t expect so much out of him and when girls didn’t see him as a “star”

I think this also shows why Elvis would never pursue a s*xual relationship with these girls because he wanted to be free from the pressures of s*x and was more interested in a relationship where he could recieve the affection, friendship and companionship that he craved, with again, no pressure of having to “perform” so to speak

The quote by Joe can also explain why Elvis felt the need to have entourage and be surrounded by so many people and again it ties into Elvis not have any friends in his formative years; it was like he was making up for what he never had

So he didn’t have many friends in school and mostly kept to himself, and he missed out on many years of dating because of it, and so when he became famous I believe he was finally in a position to get what he never had and he took advantage of it

I’m definitely no psychologist so I hope this made sense 😭and I would really love to know what you guys think and if you have any thoughts on why he pursed relationships like those

Cant stop thinking about how apparently Season 7 is going to be Ezran’s season and the slow and steady build up to a breaking point for him.

Ezran is in a weird delicate balance, walking across the tightrope of being a child and being a king. We see both sides equally, we see Ezran’s barely clinging childlike mannerisms and we also see him command and lead both with love and with force.

And he is equally regarded in this manner by the people around him, some addressing him more as a child then king and others more king then child.

“Who is this child?” “Such childish dreams.” “You deserve time to do kid things” “the whining child king.” vs “He is a King!” “Because you know-you’re the King.” “That is what King Ezran decided.” “I serve the true King.”

That is already a lot to try and balance, his wants versus his duty as a king but now that balance is being tested.

The weight of everything is starting to crash down. His stressful rule as a king in a time of insurrection and war, his own people pushing back against his ideals and attempts at progress, his citizens and home decimated by a dragon, his father’s murderer being freed by his own brother, and now the releasing of an ancient evil.

No one told him his father was dead, too worried to tell a child horrible news, and no one had told him the plan to bring Runaan back, hardly giving him a second thought.

The more I think about it the more my brain drifts to this section from the season 2 novelization:

“No. No, no no!!” Ezran shouted. He didn’t care if he sounded like a two-year old.

“Ezran. It’s going to be okay,” Rayla started to say.

That was about the dumbest thing anyone could possibly say, Ezran thought. Nothing was ever going to be okay again.

Just the moment Ezran fully reverts to being a small kid again, when he stops caring that he is acting like a child because he is a child because he is mad because its all hitting him at once and it isn’t fair.

I want to see how he takes it all

i’ve been trying to play the complete opposite of what i normally would but i’m actually enjoying it a lot! i just cleaned my mods folder too it was A CHORE

the dad erik is a construction worker and he’s into all the outdoorsy stuff. he goes fishing a lot. he has the goofball trait and tries to be “the cool dad.” because in my head the parents were in the grunge/alternative scene when they were younger

the mom vivienne is a freelance writer and to make things easier for me she has the family oriented/neat traits because erik is a slob and makes the house dirty as fuck and i feel bad cuz she is ALWAYS cleaning up after him but their marriage is going great and they never fight so ? she seems happy to do it i guess lmao

they have a teenage daughter named bristol that’s super angsty and has the live fast aspiration from hsy so she sneaks out and gets into trouble at school a lot. she has a crush on her best friend marjane who’s been having a stay over at the house for a sims week so i’m like 👀 waiting to see if any autonomous romance will happen with them BUT bristol also has a crush on another girl from school so idk which one i want her to go to prom with and it’s stressing me out!!!

Realised I hadn't posted about the baby here yet

This is Mabel! A young former stray who was very frightened of everything when I first brought her home (relatable) but she's settling in really well and is a very sweet and playful little thing

Lissa and Viren could barely sleep when Soren was a baby because he constantly wanted to do something. Like he had to tire himself out if they wanted to sleep or get a babysitter but unfortunately for them, Soren never seemed to tire himself out and he hated almost everyone. Baby Soren did throw things and cry his lungs out if Lissa and Viren left him with someone he didn't like. He ended being known as a very difficult baby very quickly. The only person who didn't think so was Kpp'Ar.

Kpp'Ar did not care if Soren threw things and cried every time he was left alone with someone he didn't like. He was just a baby, a pretty aggressive baby, but still a baby. So Kpp'Ar sorta become the default babysitter because Soren liked him and because Kpp'Ar didn't care if Soren decided to throw things and start throwing a fit. Thing is, Soren is the most sweetest and easily put down to sleep baby with Kpp'Ar. To Kpp'Ar, Soren is just a sweet little baby and people are just very dramatic because they don't know how babies work. To everyone else, Soren is a pos and literally no one wants to be the unfortunate soul that has to take Kpp'Ars duty as babysitter if he's busy.

Soren was still all over the place with Kpp'Ar, Kpp'Ar was just able to find ways to get Soren to tire himself out. He never says how he does it but he does it almost every single day. Kpp'Ar just manages to handle baby Soren in a way that made Soren be the sweetest little guy to ever exist. Everyone else made Soren want to commit various crimes.

what's your sims play style?

I usually do legacy play throughs where I start with one sim and then build their life to the point they will have at least one child even if it is adoption (but if there is multiple kids I will pick one that I will plan to switch to basically to carry on the legacy).

My goals and plans vary depending on the sim but I usually keep them connected to their family still. When I move them out I will move most of the family's funds with them, creating and carrying over generational wealth even if I don't have them live lavish.

Eventually when old age starts to creep up on the parents I will sell off all their stuff and move them in with their kid (and their family if they have one at that point) until they die. The urns/gravestones travel with the next generation and I never release spirits to the netherworld so they hang out in the house at night usually even if they break things constantly. Sometimes they stop showing up after moving them though I don't know what triggers that because it doesn't happen every time.

It varies what sort of stories and backgrounds I imagine for my sims, but that is my general play style. Sometimes I will create new sims with the intention of paring them up with my legacy sims as well. But I usually just move them straight into the house and give them their own room while they get to know the sim I want them to kiss kiss fall in love with.

Before I had to reset my computer to fix something and forgot to back up my game files (again. The second time I have done this in three years because I suck lol) my last legacy playthrough was on the 16th generation. So I keep it going without an end basically.

Maybe it is boring but I like making my sims have healthy relationships, economic security, and nice lives even if they have more complicated traits. If I have any intentional fuckery it is because I have made someone be a total sleeze every once in a while for funsies. There was one time I accidentally created condensed human suffering in my sim though but idk if anyone wants to hear some random sim rambling that much lol.

Oh I also usually turn off aging or keep it on long life span for early adulthood to give them more time to work on their skills and career before I switch things to speed it up.
