Tumblr media Tumblr media

Hey is there a specific tequila that's really good in strawberry margaritas? or does it even matter? I've just been told to stick to the clear ones. thanks!
For strawberry margaritas I would also probably stick to a blanco/silver one but you can easily get away with doing a reposado, but you'd have to find a repo that hasn't reached the point of aging where you get into a real sickening caramel sweetness (and some reposados they add agave nectar to them to make them sweeter i.e. shit like Clase Azul, but clase azul is mega expensive sipping tequila anyways so you shouldn't have to worry about that). Probably a 3-4 month aged repo would be fine -- if you find a tequila that has an age statement like that on the bottle those are best. Lately I've been liking stuff like the 3 Amigos Organic Blanco (the organic one. Not the OG one but the organic one) and Espolòn blanco. Milagro is another great one. If you go with a reposado the Milagro reposado is a good one for Strawberry Margaritas in particular.
If I had to choose one overall it'd be La Gritona though. But because I work at a certain National Wine and Spirits Store Chain That I Shant Name At The Moment I also frequently use El Padrino blanco. For like everything mixing tequila-wise. I'm unfortunately a pretty big El Padrino shill for people who don't like a lot of agave vegetalness in their blanco tequila (even though it's supposed to have that, that's how normal tequila tastes). Legado is another one from that chain that is pretty good for mixing and does taste like a normal tequila with a nice balance of that vegetal agave and the agave sweetness notes.
So to sum up:
Stick mainly to blanco/silver tequila, but if you want, use a younger reposado.
La Gritona, 3 Amigos Organic Blanco, Espolòn, Milagro are the best one's I'd suggest for a really quality margarita.
If You Are At The Certain Store That Sells These, try El Padrino and Legado as well, El Padrino if you want something smoother.
You generally shouldn't have to spend more than $35 for a good blanco tequila imo also. Just a heads up.

Tequila: From Agave to Iconic Branding
Tequila, a spirit deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of Mexico, has transformed over the years into a global phenomenon. From its humble beginnings in the agave fields of Jalisco to its current status as a staple in bars worldwide, tequila has not only captured the hearts of drinkers but also carved out a significant niche in the world of branding. The journey of tequila branding is a fascinating blend of tradition, innovation, and storytelling that resonates with consumers across the globe.
The Origins of Tequila
Tequila's roots can be traced back to the Aztecs, who first discovered the fermentation process using the sap of the agave plant. However, it was the Spanish conquistadors who began distilling agave, creating a precursor to what we now know as tequila. This spirit is legally required to be produced in certain regions of Mexico, primarily in the state of Jalisco, and must be made from the blue agave plant.
The production process of tequila is a meticulous craft that involves several key stages:
Harvesting: The jimadores (agave farmers) skillfully harvest the mature blue agave plants by hand, a labor-intensive process that requires expertise passed down through generations.
Cooking: The hearts of the agave, or piñas, are cooked to convert their complex carbohydrates into fermentable sugars. This step is crucial in developing tequila's signature flavor profile.
Fermentation: The cooked agave is mashed and mixed with water, then fermented with yeast. This process transforms the sugars into alcohol and plays a significant role in defining the taste and aroma of the final product.
Distillation: The fermented liquid is distilled, typically twice, to increase its alcohol content and purity. The result is a clear spirit known as blanco or silver tequila.
Aging: While some tequilas are bottled immediately, others are aged in oak barrels to develop more complex flavors. The aging process gives rise to varieties such as reposado (aged 2 months to a year), añejo (aged 1 to 3 years), and extra añejo (aged over 3 years).
The Evolution of Tequila Branding
As tequila evolved from a local specialty to a global sensation, the importance of branding became increasingly evident. Today, tequila branding is a sophisticated endeavor that combines heritage, storytelling, and marketing strategies to create a unique identity for each brand.
Authenticity and Tradition
One of the most compelling aspects of tequila branding is its emphasis on authenticity and tradition. Many brands highlight their deep roots in Mexican culture and craftsmanship to connect with consumers seeking genuine experiences. By showcasing traditional production methods and family histories, brands like Herradura and Patrón successfully convey a sense of authenticity that resonates with drinkers worldwide.
Innovation and Modernity
While tradition plays a significant role, innovation is equally crucial in tequila branding. Brands continually experiment with new flavors, aging techniques, and packaging designs to stand out in a crowded market. For instance, Clase Azul is renowned for its distinctive hand-painted ceramic bottles, which have become collectors' items in their own right. This fusion of creativity and craftsmanship exemplifies how tequila brands are pushing the boundaries of what the spirit can represent.
Celebrity Endorsements and Partnerships
In recent years, celebrity endorsements have become a powerful tool in tequila branding. High-profile figures like George Clooney (Casamigos), Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Teremana), and Kendall Jenner (818 Tequila) have launched their own tequila brands, leveraging their star power to reach new audiences. These endorsements not only boost brand visibility but also add a layer of prestige and exclusivity to the products.
Cultural Representation and Storytelling
Tequila branding often emphasizes cultural representation and storytelling, highlighting the rich heritage and artistry of Mexico. Brands like Espolòn and Don Julio incorporate vibrant imagery and narratives into their marketing campaigns, celebrating Mexican traditions and folklore. This approach fosters a deeper connection with consumers, who appreciate the cultural significance and artistry behind each bottle.
Sustainability and Ethical Practices
With growing awareness of environmental and social issues, many tequila brands are adopting sustainable and ethical practices. This includes organic farming, fair trade certifications, and eco-friendly packaging. Brands like Tequila 1921 and Siete Leguas emphasize their commitment to sustainability, appealing to conscious consumers who prioritize ethical considerations in their purchasing decisions.
Tequila in the Global Market
Tequila's rise in popularity has been nothing short of meteoric. Once primarily consumed in Mexico and parts of the United States, the spirit is now enjoyed in over 120 countries worldwide. This global expansion is driven by several factors:
Cultural Influence: The growing appreciation for Mexican cuisine and culture has fueled interest in tequila as a quintessential part of the dining experience.
Mixology and Cocktails: Tequila's versatility makes it a favorite among mixologists, who create innovative cocktails that highlight its unique flavor profiles. Classics like the Margarita and Paloma continue to be popular choices.
Premiumization: The trend towards premium and luxury spirits has elevated tequila to new heights, with consumers willing to pay for high-quality, artisanal products.
Conclusion
Tequila branding is a dynamic fusion of tradition, innovation, and cultural storytelling. From its origins in the agave fields of Mexico to its status as a global icon, tequila has captivated the world with its rich heritage and vibrant flavors. As brands continue to innovate and connect with consumers on a personal level, tequila's journey as a symbol of celebration and authenticity is set to endure for generations to come.

Now Traveling: Lake Havasu City, AZ
Was I just there? Maybe. Is there always a good reason to go back? Hell yeah. This time we skipped The Hot Air Balloons and skipped it for some cowboys, I mean rodeo.
Tumblr media
Thursday:
If you are wondering when you should judge your leave by time, judge it by sunrise so the sun is at your back as you are driving to your destination. I use an app called Weatherbug to help me determine sunrise time. While we are talking about tech, another good app to have is Gas Buddy so that you can find a gas station wherever you are at (or going). We left about 7 AM, and the weather on the way was eerily pretty. We stopped at College Street Brewery for lunch for mac n cheese, pastrami, and good beer. We met with a window contractor, no trip is complete without some work right? We watched some movies on Amazon Prime. At Javelina's cantina we had nachos and margaritas.
Friday:
I brought breakfast for myself, to try and behave a little bit. I warmed up the dice for Farkle, I really need to have my own dice that I bring up because the bets for the game are up to $5 a person per game. We went back to College Street Brewery for lunch, this place is much easier to get in during the week. We stopped by Walmart for some supplies. Stopped by another glass company place. We have a list back at my grandma's house for local places to eat, and we decided to make one for the lake. Because we did that, we had a new place (for me at least) to go to-Bogie's and Stogies at The Refuge. Food was pretty good. We came back and played Farkle. Before bed, we got a few more movies in.
Saturday:
Today was the first day of the Delbert Days Rodeo in Lake Havasu! I got ready to go in my full cowboy attire. There was so much to do there! Good local food trucks, kids stuff, professional rodeo men and women. I was not prepared for how hot it was, and I got burnt pretty good. We had Angelina's Italian Kitchen for dinner, good as always. A movie and bed, it was a long day in that heat!
Sunday:
So the rodeo does go on for 2 days, but since Superbowl is so close-we thought it might be good to have an in house day to catch the games for the squares we do for the superbowl party. We set up lunch at Azul Agave. Our local friends showed us the progress on the custom home they are building, it is crazy how much construction is happening everywhere! We gassed up, can you believe it is under $3 a gallon out there? We did more farkle, watched some football. We ordered pizza from Red Baron Pizza and it was amazing as always. We started to get ready, got one more movie in, and headed to bed.
Monday:
We headed out around 6:30 AM, AZ time (which is an hour ahead of Cali), and made it home with two stops-one at a rest stop and Wendy's, by 10:15 AM. Pretty good timing. Frosty's are so much better on the road. The first day back is always a little rough for adjustment, but its usually better by the second day back.
Good trip, the timing could not have been better. Back to work and back to reality. There is a wash rag bunny at the condo that always caught my eye, and I think I might have figured out how to make it at home! Keep an eye out for that post, and when in havasu-have fun!

 Cuando salgo a buscarte
esquivo vergazos
detenciones policiales
uno que otro susto
Tú ya lo sospechabas
Por la sangre seca en mi playera:
Crecer en carencias
junto a tanto loco salvaje
No es cosa fácil
Tiene su chiste
La gente desarrolla cosas
Trastornos, supra-instintos
Un olfato de venado
atento siempre a todo peligro
Cruzar el barrio
a veces es un escape
a veces una búsqueda
y una señal
Implica riesgos
no tengas miedo
y crikosos vendiendo skates robadas
portando fierros
Sintiéndose viriles
Cómo en una película de Western
los muy estúpidos
Cómo cuando en las calles amenazan sonrientes
con desaparecer a nuestrxs amigxs
A veces siento
que esto de ser poeta
durante el fin de los tiempos
Esto de vivir x amor
cuando este escasea
De sobrevivir el Verano
y no tener fuerzas restantes
para el Invierno
No es ningún juego
pero es lo que hay
La gente perdió las esperanzas
Yo ya ni salgo a buscar
trabajo
Solo por ti salgo al barrio
Porque siempre te estoy pensando
Necesito verte
Salgo sin dinero
Enfermo y delirando
“Carnal, ¿No traes lumbre?”
A veces implica rolar porro
con el loquito del vecindario
El que a veces parece peligroso
y a veces no tanto
Aunque a veces me espinen tus rosales
y me entren ganas de llorar
Por ti salgo a la guerra
Sin dudarlo
Aunque antes me escondía
Creando huelgas desde mi cama
Hoy salgo
Cargo mis palabras cuál fusil
La ausencia de luz me cubre
Espero al eclipse termine
Y salgo esquivando vergazos
