Studying Scandinavian history is downright painful sometimes. Excuse me, sir, I don't want to read about your weird opinions on racial superiority, I just want to read about Denmark and Sweden kicking each other around like footballs.
#history#history humor#honestly i'd argue indigenous american history is worse#because it sucks enough finding so many shitty opinions#and it's worse when those shitty opinions are the ONLY contemporary records we have#it's like yes i am well aware that it is not in debate that the aztecs and the maya practiced blood sacrifices#but you people also practice a ritual where you eat your god and regularly terrorized jerusalem in his name#and then you proceeded to destroy multiple civilizations because jeebus#you are not innocent in this#stop painting the aztecs and the maya as the weird ones in this situation#everyone sucks here#anyways scandinavian history is fun mostly because once the viking age ends it's basically a free-for-all between denmark and sweden#with all the rest of northern europe getting caught up in their weird drama by extension#yes this is the reason why the nordics are my favorite hetalia characters#i don't care that they're not canonically related the history books basically read like game of thrones-esque family dramas#it's a lot funnier than it really ought to be

Fuck I reached 30 tags I guess that got us rambling
For full context I guess read those first cuz I'm not putting all that here again
We got started on mythology and bitch were not close to being done
What I was about to put in another tag was:
I'm interested but I'm not gonna read scientific papers on mythology sorry Africa and Oceania...
European is just the easiest to come by and most relatable mythology. Being. A filthy European.
Although I'd love to hear more shit about mythologies that are more exotic to us
And no. I don't mean japanese. That's barely exotic at this point.
No I'm not reading journey to the west again either.
I could go on for so long honestly I fucking love mythology with a passion I wish I had more energy and patience to get deeper into it
But yeah no I'm not sitting down reading research papers or ancient texts that aged horribly for hundreds of hours
At least not with these mental illnesses I'm not
i made a character uquiz. i 100% promise you that you will get a character you know AND like
#THERES SO MANY COOL RESULTS AND YOU GIMME NICK CAGE#MOTHERFUCK-#i hate this#theres literally morgan le fay in there#AND MEDEA#listen who the fuck even knows who medea is#i do#thats the fuck who#and i did not get her#BUT NICOLAS CAGE#OKAY BITCH#I HAVE NEVER PLANNED A PERFECT MURDER BEFORE BUT OH IT IS ON NOW#PREPARE TO FACE THE WRATH OF A WOMAN THAT LOVES EVIL MYTHICAL (and historical) WOMEN#i will drain your blood into a tub and take a nice bath in it#i will string you up on the high gates of babylon#i will throw you into the depths of irkalla and judge you to eternal death#you will long for the pain of tartarus#nothing heracles has endured will hold a candle to your suffering#(ah shit referenced greek mythology twice already? fuck im getting out of practice...)#i will show you why we fancy the name of Nemesis#...okay listen greek and mesopotamian mythology are just the most interesting ones.#greek is the most popular so just easy to come by greek mythology content#and mesopotamian is just the oldest mythology that we have decemt records of as far as im aware#i like other stuff too but its harder to find stuff about it#and tbh chinese and japanese would be the next easiest but i just cant connect with them as well#(despite being a fucking weeb)#celtic is hard to get started on and so is nordic and slavic#then native american inca aztec etc are hard to relate for us again. somehow just doesnt click#indian is kinda neat. should get more into that#a lot of stuff from africa oceania etc is neat but near impossible to come by without actively looking

Aztec Pantheon in RoR -story-
The reunion started and the four brothers knew it was a complete nonsense to be there. Quetzalcoatl said he would be there, but, he wasn't seen any place near. Tezcatlipoca exhaled, it was nothing common for him to disappear and break the laws of Zeus. Still, that rebellious attitude made him very proud of his brother. They were like enemies most of the time, bickering for the bare minimun situation. Troubling each other with stupid things and mocking the actions of one and another. But, that was something Tezca couldn't control. He was like that. Huitzilopochtli sat next to him, looking for his brother too. "Strange", he said to himself, crossing his arms behind his head while the other gods took a seat too. All this Ragnarok thing was a total mess. In the end, Zeus was just trying to make Bruhnilde upset. Everyone could sense the cool and tense air around the room. It was a power play and that old man was such a nasty one. None of the brothers was selected to be part of the fighters list. Xipe Totec was furious, because he knew he was that powerful. Even though he gave humans a place to live and take care of each others, they paid him doing the opposite. But the truth was, he wanted to show off his skills, to teach humans how powerful he was. He was even more upset when some low-ranked gods laughed at him. Xipe was losing his cool easily this time, it was a shame. Tezca comforted him and just sighed "See, my brother, this ridiculous play is going to end soon and we'll be able to punish those idiots as we wish. Don't hurry." a cold, black smoke came from his nose. He loved the smell. He was lying to himself perhaps, because it was truly a matter of favoritism from that old man the fact they weren't listed. Them, some of the most feared and badass gods around the world were too much for such fragile humans. The meeting was over and there were no signs from his brother. Now that was weird. Tezca left his brothers and started to walk through the hall, then, a few miles later turned right and started looking for his almost twin. Even his black smoky mirror couldn't show him where he was. He cursed and sighed, just when he was about to leave, the gentle and deep voice of his brother came to his ears: "You see, I really want to help them. Bruhnilde, I think you're a brilliant person and this is a noble action for them. Humans can grow and be better. Destroying them again won't change anything... Perhaps there might be another way..." Quetza spoke, his eyes reflecting the warm light from outdoors and his fangs showing a bit from the corner of his mouth. The valkyrie understood him. It was a deal. "What the hell...?" Tezca sensed something like a pressure on his chest. This changed the whole Ragnarok thing into something serious. His brother was surely strong but naive, really naive and kind. Betraying Zeus wasn't that good honestly...
Andddd this is the begin of the story!! What do you think? After adding the goddeses, I'll do the scond part for this!
Girls, hope you like it! @praisethesuuun @nicasdreamer @itz-hellenz @rlvdnt

Ouroboros Ouroboros meaning and origin The ouroboros symbol, often depicted as a snake eating its tail to form a circle, is one of the oldest and most recurring motifs in the mythology and iconography of various cultures around the world. Next, I will tell you about some of the most notable origins and meanings of ouroboros in different cultures: Ancient Egypt: One of the first known records of the ouroboros comes from ancient Egypt, where it was associated with the serpent Uraeus, a protective deity represented as a cobra. Ouroboros was related to the cycle of life, death and renewal, and was often found in amulets and funerary jewelry. It was also linked to the idea of eternity and the unity of time. Ancient Greece: In Greek mythology, the ouroboros is sometimes associated with the serpent Ladon, who guarded the Garden of the Hesperides and is often depicted as a serpent eating its own tail. This symbol is related to the idea of constant regeneration and the infinite cycle of nature. India: In Hindu tradition, the ouroboros is found in the image of the Ouroboros Ananta Shesha, the cosmic serpent that supports the god Vishnu as he floats in the cosmic ocean. This snake represents eternal time and the infinite cycle of creation and destruction in the universe. Alchemy: During the Middle Ages and Renaissance, the ouroboros became an important symbol in alchemy. It represented the union of opposites, such as the masculine principle (the Sun) and the feminine principle (the Moon), and symbolized transmutation and the search for the philosopher's stone, which conferred immortality. Other cultures: The ouroboros also appears in Chinese mythology, where it is known as the "Jade Dragon." Additionally, it is found in Mesoamerican cultures such as the Aztec, where it is associated with the feathered serpent Quetzalcoatl. The general meaning of the ouroboros is the idea of an eternal cycle, renewal, the unity of opposites and eternity. It is also interpreted as a symbol of self-reflection and self-transcendence, where the individual seeks understanding and wisdom by exploring their own limitations and potentials. Overall, the paradox of the ouroboros challenges our conventional understanding of time, renewal, and the relationship between opposites. It invites contemplation and reflection on the interconnectedness of all things and the complex nature of existence. The paradox inherent in the symbol has made it a powerful and enduring motif in various cultures and philosophical traditions. In summary, the ouroboros is an ancient and universal symbol that has evolved throughout human history and culture, representing profound concepts related to the cyclical nature of life and the pursuit of wisdom and transcendence. His legacy endures to this day as a reminder of the richness and depth of human symbolic thought.

Omg I know hoyo is colorist as shit, and i’m obviously not defending their skin tone choices, but can we talk about some of the other cool details?? In the new teaser they talk about this Tournament thing while they toss around a small ball, and from what I can tell it’s a reference to a 3500 year old mayan sport called pokolpok (or tlachtli in aztec).
It’s said to be football’s precedent for being one of the oldest team sports recorded. It got spread throughout the entire precolumbian mesoamerica, around every culture in the region. The mayan played this sport because it was like a play on the history of their universe: Two twin gods descended to hell to play this game against demons, their purpose was to collect bones to create a new human race. Said twins won and with the bones Mayans were created.
I don’t know if that story will have any relevance to the Natlan archon quest, but I think it’s especially cool because it reminded me of the constant topic we have in the game around twins. Idk smth smth about the twins and the theory that Teyvat is hell and the archons are demons smth smth
I think references like these are extremely cool and it’s important to remember that skin color is not the only form of representation (Again, i’m not defending hoyo).
#i didn’t think i’d see such thing be represented in the game#i got really excited when i picked up the reference#im excited to see more of natlan#hopefully something is done about the skin tones though#genshin impact#natlan
