Ok so in one day three drivers have made a mockery of the F1 rules and their stupidity.

Please note I know I’m about to talk about three drivers that already get a ton of hate and this is not why I’m doing this. I personal love all three so don’t make this something it isn’t.

Yuki Tsunoda - being 100m from the line, about to set a time which would put him through, red flag cancels the lap. Seriously, can we not tweek this so any driver beyond the incident and in the last half of the final sector (provided that is not where the incident is), get to complete their lap?

Lando Norris - using his allocated tyres for SQ3 in Q3 and still being in a position to score points in both races. Is that what you intended FIA? How did you not see that as a possibility?

Then when journalists point out that there is nothing in the rules to stop the two above drivers battling for 9th place on wet tyres in dry conditions. That right there is the winner on “interpretation of the rule book”. You can tell Ross Brawn has stepped down as he would 1000% have picked that up, as he would have exploited that rule as well back in the day.

Charles LeClerc - here is the age old problem, you hit a wall in Q3 and still mange to keep pole. We know ultimately the only person it really hurt was his teammate and it wasn’t on purpose, but as stated above. What stops a team exploiting that rule as well?

I hope someone at the FIA is sitting there dumbfounded right now. Improve the sport they say, make it fairer. Ha. As long as you have that concentration of the worlds most competitive people in the same space, they are going to deconstruct your rules to their advantage every single day of the week.

Ted's Baku Sprint Race Notebook: Once again admiring the Baku Hilton, joking that the sprint quali abbreviations were like Singapore Airlines flight numbers (he looked them up, they are), picking and blowing on a dandelion, giving more love to the artist's music he Dad danced to yesterday, the cameraman running off to follow George Russell, Ted doing a brief televised recruitment drive for Ferrari, interviewing Albon and Zhou out of the blue... and chatting about whatever happened in the Sprint Race.
