“Do you think I can take them for a few hours? I won’t lose them I promise! Maybe I can show them around the megaplex! I’m sure they would like to see the daycare.”

Is SOOOO gentle with the baby like- more gentle than necessary.

He’s also really really slow in whatever he does with them and speaks really quiet

He starts singing to the baby if they begin to cry, he’s really just a dad

“What is that tiny thing? A baby? Oh.”

She doesn’t really want to touch it has first but If the baby smiles at her you can forget about taking your child home with you.

From that moment on she’s holding it wherever she goes and DEFINITELY uses a baby carrier- like the ones that go on your chest and hold the baby like a reverse backpack

She’s gonna stand in the mirror with the baby in her little pouch and admire herself AND the baby

“We are the best. We are awesome. Everyone LOVES us.”

“We’re good enough.”

If the baby starts to cry she’ll just awkwardly pat it on the head and hand it one of her stuffed plushies. All she knows is that sometimes she cries too if she feels bad about herself, so if the baby is crying that must be why “Don’t be sad baby, I feel sad sometimes too because I think I’m not good enough, but that’s just not true! Me and you are definitely good enough so there’s no reason to cry.”

If she has any merch in her room she’s gonna dress the baby in it.

This chicken LOVES babies and you can’t convince me otherwise. She doesn’t even have to have permission she’s just rushing up and taking it the moment she sees it.

She really likes to make them laugh, it’s like the best thing ever

She feels bad because people tell her she can’t sing, because when she does it messes when the other animatronics, but she tries really hard to sing softly to the baby if it starts crying

She also likes to try and help the baby walk (that is if it’s old enough to try)

“Cmon! One foot right there! The other one goes there! You got it!”

You have to be careful though because the moment you look away she’s gonna try and feed your child pizza.

Please for the love of god you not hand this robot a baby.

He doesn’t know what to do with it.

The next thing you know he’s gonna have it by the ankle dangling it upside down and poking it in the stomach

What is it? He doesn’t know. He knows that they turn into bigger kids eventually but he has no idea that they need to be treated with care

If you do take the time to explain to him that he needs to be gentle he will try his best

“So this tiny squishy thing is a kid but like….new?”

he eventually does calm down and begin to treat it gently

And actually ends up spending time with the baby because the baby isn’t scared of him ❤️

He just wants to be loved ❤️❤️❤️

Sunnydrop

This robot is used to being around a lot of kids, and some young ones too! But he’s never been around a person so young

AND HE LOVES IT.

This boy drops EVERYTHING he’s doing just to hold it

He’s super gentle and very careful when he takes the baby and will hold it like it’s his favorite thing ever

You do have to watch him close though because he will attempt to offer the child soda and arts n crafts supplies

“It’s so cute! I’ve never seen a child so tiny before! D-do you think they like me? I hope they like me!”

He WILL start sobbing if the baby smiles at him

Gently takes the baby’s hand and puts some paint on it and stamps the baby’s hand print on a piece of paper

It makes him happy :))

Moondrop

He is surprisingly gentle with the baby

Even though he does seem scary, he still cares about the children’s safety.

Swaddles the child so they don’t accidentally hurt themselves in their sleep

Doesn’t let any of the other children touch the baby because he doesn’t want them to make it sick or accidentally hurt it

Instead of watching the other kids during nap time he will just hold the baby during nap time instead

Always complains about how annoying the baby is but WILL NOT let it go or put it down

“It cries to much. I don’t know what it wants.”

What happens after you ask for the baby back:

“No. It’s happier here with me. It needs to sleep in order to be healthy, only I can do that.”

He will OBLITERATE anyone who tries to hurt this child or take it away from him.

It’s his baby now, but he’ll die before he admits it.

Just little pieces of PR art that I adore looking at over and over again.  We’re starting off strong here with Dan Mora’s early version of Billy. Soft, vulnerable, squishy, fluffy Billy. With his adorable glasses, and too big shirt and eyes that were always beautifully done, but especially here in this one panel.

From Power Rangers: Pink, here we have a shot of Kimberly going rogue lone wolf, much like her boyfriend, with her hair down and unmade. I am still unsure whether or not this jacket is entirely her own doing or she stole it off of Tommy, but I always appreciate how well it fits in this setting, as opposed to her usual wardrobe.

Early days Tommy by Kyle Higgins, when he was still undoubtedly native in appearance and not terribly white washed in any glaringly obvious way. His clothes were always nice in this version, but his eyes and hair and skin tone were *chef’s kiss* ALWAYS.

This bit from our early introductions to the Coinless Universe. Now, while it’s a bit more grunge and dark than I would appreciate at any other time, this panel managed to give me two hits of the warm fuzzies in one go: Zack encouraging Billy and Bulk calling Zack ‘SIR’. It’s a little thing, but oh how sweet it is~

Not entirely one of my favorite alternative covers for GGPR, but I always like the more...meta...pieces. Plus LOOK AT TRINI’S GLASSES.

When you simultaneously feel so great for Billy sticking up for himself to teach Bulk a lesson he needs to learn, and yet, also feel a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bad for the punk(s) in question. Just a smidge, but *pokes Bulk* honey no.

For now, for now, for now, my favorite picture of Skull in the GGPR series and, possibly, MM and PR, as a whole. The moment you realize HE FUCKING KNOWS he’s being used, but he’s a good guy who knows Kim needs this. He’ll let it play out, even though he doesn’t like it. Squeeze that unicorn Skull, you’ve earned it baby boy.

Mother Hen Bulk is best Bulk. This is his first appearance, and I will love forever ALL of this panel.

Honestly? I hate this art style, it is WAY too shiny for me. BUT--Drakkon looks both awesome and stupid at the same time. What is there not to love?

As far as I can tell, this unnamed Mastodon Sentry in Ranger Slayer was a one-off little guy; certainly he was not Adam. However, my eye always get drawn to that cute little circle on the white of his chest, with the little house and little heart and I WANT this to be someone we know. Like, a character that was supposed to be a Ranger before Drakkon fucked everything up, a background character that was never a Ranger and got roped into this; something. (So until they say otherwise, little Mastodon, I dub you World of the Coinless Devin de Valle.)

Merfolk Toad Headcanons

-So, Mortimer is technically a natural abomination. Deepwater Merfolk and Freshwater Merfolk are two completely different sizes (a mouse next to a wolf) and live in vastly different areas that the only plausible way our dude could even EXIST is if humans kidnapped a female freshwater and artificially impregnated her using a deepwater's batter. So yeah. Technically an abomination that could never occur in the wild.

-Our guy is very shy around other merfolk and massively aggressive towards humans to the point he'll try and drown any who venture into his territory (rocky underwater outcrops in the epipelagic zone).

-He hates humans and isn't very trusting of other merfolk, mainly because so many judge him for his heritage and the fact that 'he isn't natural', so this leads to year after year of our boy getting rejected during courting season by other merfolk even when he presents them with beautiful jewelry and handmade accessories.

-So now, at 29, he's an aggressive loner who'd most likely start crying if you rubbed his cheeks and called him sweet names. He's never known a single kind touch in his life and would wrap around said kind soul like a snake and shove his face into their hands for more luvins'

-Because deepwater merfolk are so fucking FAST so is Mortimer, and I mean he's a fast motherfucker. One blink and he's gone, thanks to his big ol' tail fluke and arm fins that allow him to slice through water.

-He rests on his stomach with his arms folded under him like a cat with the most annoyed 'touch me and you die' look on his face.

-Heavily insecure about his coloration as green and sharp features aren't exactly attractive to the females around him, so people who compliment his coloration and looks are immediately his favorite people.

-Is known to punt humans out of the water, to punt them off of docks when they litter, and will haul up arms full of trash, turn into his human form, and run onto the beach and start pelting people with their garbage until they leave. He's an asshole and rightfully so.

-Would definitely make the best papa, he loves to volunteer himself as a babysitter for other merfolk because he's just so dad-like and has such strong dad instincts that if he can't find a mate and have his own young then he'll just use those dad-urges and take care of other merfolk children.

-Alright @softimaginescity you're gonna love this. Despite looking like his muscles are all hard and jacked as shit, he's surprisingly soft and a lil squishy on his sides and chest. This is because of his deepwater paternal side, because at such deep depths you don't find a lot of warmth besides thermal vents, so all deepwater merfolk have evolved layers of fat + large sizes (the biggest ever seen being 50 feet long and 6,000 pounds, meanwhile Mort here is 10 feet long and 260).

-He's hella active, he's hella fit, he's just softer than he looks and would be awesome to cuddle. Speaking of cuddles-

-He'd hold his s/o with how sea otters hold their young. By letting them lay on his chest and belly while he floats on his back, arms wrapped around them as he hums them to sleep.

-Also, like some deepwater folks he has two antennae with bioluminescent bulbs on the ends and they move with his expressions and it's HILARIOUS to watch him get spooked and have those antennae shoot straight up like a cat's tail.

I'm more of a fantasy than sci-fi person, but consider my interest piqued. Why should I watch farscape?

Okay, the thing is, every Farscape fan’s pitch on Why You, Yes You, Should Watch Farscape ends up sounding very similar, and that’s because Farscape is a black hole that sucks you in and does things to your brain, and after you’ve watched it you are never, ever the same, which incidentally is basically the plot of Farscape.

I would summarize the basic plot for you, but that’s work, and luckily, the show’s credits sequence includes a handy summary that I will provide instead of doing that work: “My name is John Crichton, an astronaut. A radiation wave hit, and I got shot through a wormhole. Now I’m lost in some distant part of the universe on a ship, a living ship, full of strange alien life forms. Help me. Listen, please. Is there anybody out there who can hear me? I’m being hunted by an insane military commander. Doing everything I can. I’m just looking for a way home.“

So let me break down that monologue into its component reasons you should watch Farscape.

1) Some of the strange alien life forms are Muppets.

Farscape a co-production with the Jim Henson Company, and while there are many aliens played by humans in make-up, there are also a considerable number (including two of the regular crew) who are Muppets. By which I do not mean Kermit. I mean really gorgeous, elaborate works of art.

Also, even a lot of the humans-in-makeup aliens just look cool, and incredibly weird. Here’s an alien who appears in a single episode of season 1:

Not that there aren’t, you know, occasional Star Trek-style “these guys are just humans with weird hair,” or whatever, but in general, the aliens on Farscape look really alien. And that’s more than an aesthetic choice; it’s Farscape’s driving narrative principle. The aliens look alien, they act alien, they have alien values.

You know how a lot of sci-fi shows will have a stand-in for “fuck,” like Battlestar Galactica has “frak”? Well, Farscape has “frell.” And also “dren.” And yotz, hezmana, mivonks, loomas, tralk, snurch, eema, drannit, dench, biznak, arn, drad, fahrbot, narl. Some of those are swear words, but some of them are just words, never explicitly translated, that the alien characters will pepper into their speech, because, well, why should translator microbes be able to completely translate all the nuances of an alien culture? You’ll pick it up from context. One time, in passing, a character mentions that he’s familiar with the concept of suicide, but there’s no word for it in his language. I cannot emphasize to you enough how fleeting this moment is; the episode is not about suicide, we’re not having a great exchange of cultural ideas—at the time, the characters are running down a corridor in a crisis, as they are about 70 percent of the time—it’s just that the subject got brought up, and this character needed to talk around the fact that he literally didn’t have a word, in that moment. Things like that happen all the time, on Farscape.

Because more than anything else, Farscape is a show about culture shock. John Crichton is this straight, white Southern guy, at the top of his game—he’s an astronaut! he’s incredibly high status!—and then he ends up on the other side of the galaxy, where none of his cultural markers of privilege hold any meaning, where he doesn’t know the rules, where he literally can’t even open the doors. And he has to unlearn the idea that humanity is central, that he is the norm.

2) John Crichton, an astronaut, is pretty great.

A show that’s about a straight white guy with high status having to learn that he’s not the center of the universe could easily be centered around a really insufferable person, but one of the subtle things that makes Farscape so wonderful is that Crichton is, for the most part, pretty excellent. He has a lot of presumptions to unlearn because almost anyone in his cultural position would, but he’s also just a stand-up guy: compassionate, intelligent, open-minded, decent, forgiving, brave, hopeful.

And the galaxy tries to kick a whole lot of that out of him. It doesn’t succeed, mostly, but if Farscape is about anything other than culture shock, it’s about the lasting effects of trauma. How you can go through a wormhole one person, and experience things that turn you into someone you don’t recognize.

That’s kind of grim-sounding, but ultimately, what I’m trying to say is that Farscape is almost fanatically devoted to character work. Crichton is not the only character who sounds like he should be one thing and ends up being another. All of the characters—all of them, all of them, even the annoying ones—are complicated wonders. And you don’t have to wonder whether the events of the episode you’re watching are going to matter. They will. Everything that happens to the characters leaves a mark. Everything leaves them forever changed. Whether it’s mentioned explicitly or not—and often enough, it’s not explicit—the characters remember what has happened to them.

3) The living ship houses a lot of excellent women, among them the ship itself.

Ah, the women of Farscape, thou art the loves of my fucking life.

There’s Aeryn Sun, former Peacekeeper (that’s the military that the “insane military commander” hails from) now fugitive, currently learning the meaning of the word “compassion” (literally). She will break your fingers and also your heart. John/Aeryn is the main canon romantic ship.

There’s Pa’u Zhoto Zhaan, a priestess of the ninth level, current pacifist, former anarchist. Sorry, leading anarchist. She orgasms in bright light! (Oh my god, Farscape.)

There’s Chiana, my fucking bestie, a teenage(ish? ages in Farscape are weird) fugitive on the run from a repressive authoritarian state. Chiana is like a seductress con artist grifter thief who mostly just wants to survive so that she can have fun, damn it. Characters on Farscape do not really discuss sexualities (sex, yes, sexualities, no) and it would be fair to say that several of them do not fall along human sexuality lines generally, but I’m gonna go ahead and say that Chiana is canonically not straight.

Then there’s Moya, the ship herself, and it’s hard to get a straight read on Moya’s personality, since she mostly can’t speak. But she definitely has opinions, and things and people she cares about. And she moves the plot, though that gets into spoiler territory.

Past first season, further excellent women show up: Jool (controversial, but I like her), Sikozu (I once saw a Tumblr meme where someone had marked down that Sikozu would lose her shit when someone pronounced “gif” wrong, and that’s absolutely correct, and it’s why I love her), and Noranti (who is incredibly weird, and incredibly hard to summarize, but man, you gotta love her willingness to just show up and do her thing). Plus, there’s a recurring female villain, Grayza, who I could write probably multiple essays about. (I don’t know how you will feel about Grayza, as not everyone loves her, but I think she’s fucking fascinating, especially because she’s not actually the only recurring female villain. We also get Ahkna!)

(Side note: I should mention, here, that the cast of Farscape is really, really white. There is one cast member of color, Lani Tupu, but he pretty much represents the entirety of even, like, incidental diversity in casting for the series.)

Anyway, Farscape is full of awesome women, and also awesome and unexpected men, and it really enjoys playing with audience expectations of gender roles, generally. Literal entire books have been written about the way that Farscape fucks around with sex, sexuality, and gender. It’s a little weird because it was the late 90s/early 2000s, and sometimes that does come through, but Farscape’s guiding principle was always to try not to present American culture of the time as the norm, so like. It is not.

(An aside on Farscape and sex: Literally every character on Farscape has sexual tension with every other character. If you are a shipper, this is a Good Show, because no matter who you ship, there will not only be subtext, you will get a Moment of some kind. Multiple characters kiss the Muppet. Farscape is dedicated to getting into the nitty-gritty of the galaxy—I like to think of it as showing the guts of the universe—so a lot of the show is kind of squishy. They live on a biomechanoid ship, instead of androids there are “bioloids,” there’s a lot of focus on strange alien biologies, and lots of weird glowing fluids and things. I think the sex thing is kind of part and parcel of the larger biology focus: Farscape is really fascinated with how we all eat and evolve and live and die and, well, fuck. Which is in turn, kind of part of its focus on making everything really alien.)

4) Other stuff you should know.

Farscape as a whole is excellent, but it was kind of the product of creative anarchy—an Australian/American coproduction (oh yeah, everyone except Crichton speaks with an Australian accent) that was also partnered with the Henson company, whose showrunners were based in America but whose actual production all took place in Australia, and who was just constantly trying new things. So individual episodes can vary wildly in quality. It really takes off in the back half of season one, but no season is without a few off episodes.

It is extraordinarily funny, and I really think I haven’t stressed that enough. It’s one of the shows I want to quote the most in my daily life, but almost all of its humor is really context-dependent, and if you just wander around going, “Hey Stark? What’s black and white, and black and white, and black and white?” people look at you really funny.

It’s very conversant with pop culture generally (although obviously sci-fi  specifically, and Star Trek most specifically of all) and really enjoys deconstructing tropes, often to the effect of, “Well, Crichton really does not know what to do here, does he?” but sometimes just to be interesting.

There are also a lot of themes about science, and its uses and misuses.

The whole thing is fucking epic, and if you get invested at all, will take you on an emotional ride.

This show is weird. I know that that’s probably come across by now, but I think it’s worth reiterating as its own point: Farscape is so weird. Like, proudly, unabashedly, trying its hardest, weird. An amazing kind of weird.

If you’re into fantasy, you should know that there’s a recurring villain who’s just a wizard. Like, they don’t bother to explain it any more than that, he’s just a fucking wizard.

In summary: You should watch Farscape because it is a weird, wild, emotional, epic romance/drama/action/allegory full of Muppets and leather and one-liners and emotional gut punches and love, and if you let it, it will worm its way into you and never let go, which, now that I think of it, is another Farscape plot.

I LOVED how tactile all the reunions were! I love it when fictional characters hug it makes me happy

I found it extremely funny that the final boss straight up tells the characters ‘hey, there’s literally no point to fighting me, you’ll gain nothing except closure I guess’ like that’s VERY on the nose and meta for a final boss

The game does have some real ending fatigue though, I don’t think we needed the epilogue

I did like the final boss though - up until that point, I had become so good at using my Dream Team of Rean, Elliot, Machias and Jusis (or Nuke-sis, as I call him, for his insane levels of arts damage output) that everything had got kinda dull for me. But final boss was actually a challenge, I had to think rather than just using the strategy that had worked on everything else

Which was Rean delays, Elliot heals/deals arts damage, Jusis drops arts nukes, and Machias does miscellaneous support/uses his link ability to keep Jusis’s EP topped up

Oh yeah I had them linked through pretty much the whole game and they hated it and it was super funny

So OH MAN, in their linked victory battle ending screen thing, Jusis goes ‘not bad, you actually held your own for once’

And it’s a little muffled, so the first time I heard it I swear I thought Machias responded with ‘you know what you can hold? Your damn top!’ and I dropped my controller. Had to go out of my way to win another battle with a link attack because no, no way-

Anyway, characters!

Rean: Immediately upon starting up the game I found Ride Along Estelle in my DLC inventory and equipped it in the hopes that it would inspire Rean to be a better protagonist. It... kinda worked? I don’t hate him anymore, and I was pretty hyped to learn he was Osbourne’s son

And then Lloyd showed up immediately afterwards and I was like ‘oh wait here’s a protagonist I actually LOVE, nvm bye Rean lol’

Alisa: I literally never use Alisa unless the game makes me lol she was there and I don’t hate her but also I cannot remember a single interesting thing she did. Even during her one bit of plot relevance she was overshadowed by Angelica it’s hilarious that the marketing makes her out to be the deteuragonist 

Elliot: A GOOD BOY who served me incredibly well with his off the charts healing crafts, I can’t believe I started CS1 not liking him much and thinking him useless. I love the little dance he does in his idle animation

Laura: I still like Laura, I wish she was more plot relevant. I don’t feel strongly about her, but she’s always a welcome addition to any scene

Machias: Unpopular opinion probably but I really like him, even if his outfit in this game was awful. So are his alt outfits. Fashion disaster. I bought him contact lenses from a shady highway business man because he looks better without glasses. I made him ludicrously bulky, if he’d just had some kind of taunt craft to protect Jusis (squishy mage) with he’d be a perfect tank

I’m a fan of him in a ‘this is my trash son’ kind of way lol

Emma: Uhhh kinda boring which is impressive since she’s actually important and pseudo-related to Vita and all. Btw I guessed she was a witch in chapter goddamn three of CS1 after reading the folklore book, and I find it extremely wild that it’s either a dragged out, foregone conclusion if you have read the book, OR witches even existing is completely out of nowhere if you haven’t

Jusis: My favourite, because I’m basic. But like, he’s seriously the most interesting of the guys, and I made him Rean’s best friend (only one I got to rank 7 with lol). And his bonding event in Bareahard was so gooood!

I find it incredibly funny that he insists he and Machias aren’t friends because 1. Yes you are and 2. Do you even have any other non-Rean friends, guy? You literally never hang out with anyone else unless it’s plot related

Still low key ship it. Enjoy that Rean does too, apparently. Still reeling over their Trial Chest’s quote

His second S-Craft is ridiculous looking

Fie: Most interesting girl, love how she just doesn’t get flustered ever, funniest character, best girl in the game, what the HELL was that outfit

Gaius: I keep forgetting Gaius exists lol. I don’t dislike him, but he’s not very interesting to me. He’s Zin, or Noel

Millium: Man do I want to know more about Millium. Her whole thing about learning to cry... so sad and SO fascinating. What is the deal with her and Altina?!?

Sara: I hated Sara at the start of CS1. Now I adore her. God she’s just the best. Please let her interact with Schera please please please Falcom

Towa: Cutest! She’s so cute and I still love her and I did her final event even though she is TOO GOOD for Rean! She got to be a captain! I love her!

As for more minor characters - still think Angie’s great, just wish she wasn’t kinda creepy about her love of girls, deeply dislike that the game ship teases her and GEORGE, who I still otherwise find inoffensive but also, you know, male, Alfin is great, Toval is great too and I still can’t get over him being Toby, stop teasing Claire with Rean let there be one woman who isn’t into him please, oh good Sharon’s here and they don’t do that with her and she’s awesome also can’t believe I used to not like her, more Olivier always please, same with Mueller, Celine is Morgana from P5 except better in every conceivable way, Crow :(, all the Ouroboros lot are great as always, and Elise is easily my least favourite character in this franchise and can get in the sun for all I care 

I read a transcript of the drama CD and hey Rean’s dad can also get in the sun for saying that his adopted son isn’t good enough to marry his biological daughter like where do you even start-

Aurelia Le Guin is just Edelgard Fire Emblem, right? And Bardias is Claude? Except I guess this game came first, so like, other way around

Man I loved flying around on the Courageous. Also I FINALLY got a map, all I wanted in CS1 was to see a map of the country 

However, Act 1 was definitely my favourite part - the sequence where the kids have to sneak through the railway lines under the bridge to get to Garrelia is one of my favourite parts of this entire series. I kind of wanted the whole game to just be this group of teenagers trying to lay low and survive a civil war while also travelling and helping out from place to place

Why is there a snowboarding minigame. I mean, I loved it, but... why is it there?

I still really miss the old battle orbment designs from Sky. The ARCUSs just aren’t as cool :(

Hot take. What about IDW Rodimus discovering that Human liaison ALSO doodles when bored. But not in a traditional sense. Wood burning. Like they have a stash of wood in their habsuite and burn designs into it when they need to relax

Rodimus didn't mean to pry into your privacy, but your door was just open and he was gonna ask you to hang out anyway, so there was no harm in inviting himself in right? Even though you weren't in your habsuite he could still wait for you, and he's the ship's captain so no room should really be off limits to the captain, right?

Besides it's not like he's gonna go rummaging through your drawers, he might fiddle with some stuff you have lying around if you take too long coming back, like the lamp or that little squishy seal toy laying on your desk. Or that big pen looking thing beside your bed. Definitely the big pen beside your bed.

He mass displaces and goes straight for the pen to flick in and out while he waits for you but stops as soon as he sees a piece of wood beside it. 

"Whoa!" He gasps.

The wood has a floral design on it. He looks back to the pen and notices it's not actually a typical pen and that it has a cord coming out of it.

You walk into the room, paperwork in hand that you got from Magnus and gasp at the sight of Rodimus sitting on your bed, "Rodimus? God you scared me, I wasn't expecting anyone to be in here!"

"Yeah yeah sorry, let myself in." He says without looking at you before holding up the wood, "Hey  did you do this?"

You freeze in nervousness, you don't really appreciate people going through your things,but especially people going through your art without an invitation, "Uhhh, yeah?" you hesitate.

"Dude that's so cool!"

"What?" you let out in confusion.

"To think that you can just... make art on wood like this, that's awesome!" 

"Oh, um, well... thank you."

"How do you do it?"

"Oh well wood burning-"

"Burning? You burnt this in?! That's even more amazing! You gotta show me!" He says standing up, "Can I see? I wanna see how it's done!"

"Oh um, I guess I can make something before I start this stack of work Magnus gave me. Alright." You say setting the papers down on  your desk.

You walk over and plug your burning tool in. Rodimus's optics follow you, shining as brightly as his smile as he watches you open a drawer and pick out a piece of birch to draw on. You begin drawing a little cat on it. You hear him whisper "cool" to himself as you burn the design into the wood. 

After you're done you hand him the wood, "Here! You can keep it and display it in your room." You say with a smile.

"Really? Thanks!" He says taking it from your hands, "You wouldn't mind if I came by and watched you wood burn again sometime would you?"

"Not at all. I can even teach you how to wood burn if you'd like."

"Oh hell yeah, I'd love that!" He smiles, pats your head and gives you a Rodimus star, "You've just earned yourself the title of Captain's favorite!" He says with a wink.

Oh sweet! Had a huge crush on 2012 karai too she was awesome :P also the brief time when she hung out with splinter and the turtles and there was a moment when mikey called her their sister during battle i think, that made me so soft 🥺 tbh she and Leo's relationship weirded me out bc they're adopted siblings obvs they didn't know but the writers did, not a big fan of their decision. can u rate the tmnt reincarnations next? like in general, i want to catch up with tmnt but idk where to start :)

I think everyone who watched tmnt 2012 had a gay awakening when Karai appeared 

I love those episodes where she bonds with the turtles and Splinter. One time, when Mikey hummed the theme song, she giggled. It was a parallel to when they traveled back in time and the same exact thing happened. Mikey hummed the song and baby Karai giggled. I like the subtle dynamic between Mikey and Karai, it gives me the warm-fuzzies. 

And yeah, the writers were pretty damn weird about that. 

But now it’s time for the big. bad TMNT overall ratings!

I can talk about every single little thing in each series, including art style correlating to tone, but I’m going to give a run down of what I enjoy the most. The ratings are going to be a bit different, as I’m rating them by ‘version to watch/rewatch first’

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987)

The very first thing I ever said when I watched this was ‘hehe turgle’ because of how small and squishy they looked! The art style is really cute and gives a very warm vibe. It reminds me of when I used to watch Gilligan’s Island when I was a kid, a bunch of goofy characters in potentially life-threatening situations. For me, it’s a show to watch for shits and giggles, rather than a serious plot. I don’t really think this is the best starting point. I prefer going from a dark series to a lighter one, so I’d watch this one maybe after a different reboot. Also, I adore the 80′s Shredder, he’s fun to watch and to make fun of.

Next up is the one I watched on Youtube (but since I didn’t know how VPN’s worked so most of the videos were blocked except for Fast Forward and Back to the Sewer)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003) 

This one made me go ‘hehe turgle’ less, but still quite a bit. (They’re so short what). I think out of all the series, this is the one I’d start with. The plot is well organised (with a few bumps but what story doesn’t?), some well thought out character development and many, many interesting side characters! Bishop, Leatherhead, Baxter Stockman, these characters were so neat in this series. This show I feel was the darkest, and I guess 4kids agreed as some episodes were banned from airing when they first came out and I think there’s one that never finished production as it was too graphic and violent’. The voices in this series are so recognizable. Like here, read this is Mikey’s voice: “See what I made ya do there?” Anyone who knows the voices can easily imagine them. The animation is very clean and there’s some epic shots in there as well. The soundtrack is implanted in my memory and when I rewatched it, I had to pause and think for about five minutes when I got swept in a wave of nostalgia at a few familiar notes. And despite what everyone says about Back to the Sewer, the theme for that season was a bop. I think this is the best place to start if you like dark shows and all the episodes are on Youtube (In Canada because it’s blocked everywhere else).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012)

This show in terms of tone slides right in between the 2003 and 1987. There’s so many light-hearted episodes and jokes mixed in with some real scary shit. This one was the first version that made them seem like actual 15 year olds, rather than early 20′s. This is also the show with the most accuracy in terms of ninjistu. I adore the animation and art style and there’s so much going on in this show, there’s no way I’d be able to unpack even half of it. April really developed in this show, she became a Kunoichi and got a badass weapon and she trained. She didn’t become a ninjistu master overnight and that was so important to the character. I love the designs of Shredder’s henchmen in this show, Dogpound/Razar, Fishface and Tiger Claw. Beebop and Rocksteady were a huge highlight in every episode they were. It was nice to see them be shown as actual people before they got mutated, along with their clashing personalities that eventually made them into a great team. Also I can’t stop thinking about ‘I will crush your head like the blueberries,’ I love that line. Cute, fun but with a very serious and real edge, neat characters and designs. A really great show! This would also be a great starter, but the episodes are harder to find for free (unless you have Hulu)

Now for the series I am currently obsessed with and am BOUNCING for excitement for the new episodes this month,

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Oh oh oh I love this version SO much!!! This how has so much expectation subversion and is really different from the rest. A lot of people were (and still are for some reason???) complaining about this version. ‘Oh no Raph is leader, they’re all different sizes, why are they all Party dudes, etc etc.’ I think that a lot of this is based on the idea that the makers did this as more of ‘change for surprise’ when really, it’s a well thought-out decision. Raph is bigger because it helps him reign in his strength since he could easily hurt others and he’s older, so he assumes the leader position not just by default, but because he’s the one who’s the most grounded. Donnie is a softshell so he relies more on technology to protect himself, Mikey is the perfect balance of funny and annoying, Leo isn’t leader to explore a different aspect of his character. I’m not going to talk anymore about the characters as that is for another time. The art style and animation is AMAZING LIKE WOW. It’s so dynamic and bright and creative! The opening has me speechless alone! This series is still airing and has a lot of potential, with Shredder and Kraang replaced by Baron Draxum (voiced by JOHN CENA, like not a joke, he’s voiced by the wrestler) as the main antagonist. I think this is also a good starting point as it’s fresh and has around 30 episodes, so it’s faster to watch compared to the 100-200 episodes of the other series.

@that-girl-at-the-corner has great talents for aesthetics and edits. Also another greatly talented writer, who graced the fandom with some damn good pieces of writing for Sorina. @wishingforatypewriter A great writer! A GREAT WRITER! In my opinion probably the greatest blessing to the AkiSako fans, because they write them so excellently. Has written a few pieces of MarYu fanfic for me, which I still sob over to this day because it’s just so perfect. Has a Next Gen and quite some stories about it! It’s a really interesting take on Next Gen with some great characters and worth a check-out !

when people ask him “comics or novels” he literally cannot decide. he’ll read stephen king’s “it” but then a second later he’s reading a fuckin archie comic or garfield comic

he actually loves sci fi films more than horror!

horror movies tend to freak him out because hes more psychologically affected by them (bc of his trauma), so he’d rather avoid that and go with something like sci fi

this is canon but- he loves to paint his nails! one time he painted each nail with the bi flag. it actually took a lot of precision but it was worth it

sal loves small dogs. he also loves rottweilers and chihuahuas bc they look so silly and cute with those big bulging eyes and that waggy tail

he thinks bunnies are AWESOME and one time larry put one on his head and he felt like an angel was above him

so like… if he has fries and chicken strips. if he starts on the fries, he finishes the fries. he doesn’t switch back and forth

he also loves sweets but only if they’re small

also going back to the stim thing- ash stims as well so she and sal share stim toys!!! things like squishies or weighted stuff or spinner rings or chewie jewelery, they’ll share those with each other

okay but one day he’s in art class just goofing off with larry

and larry puts glitter in his own hair as like a joke

but sal is just FASCINATED

and so he practically pours the entire tub of glitter on his hair

and he gets in so much trouble for it but he’s like “no miss listen i am a goddess. this is who i am. i am a teen figuring my life out”

and for the rest of the day he doesn’t bother to get any of it out so he walks around the school with a terribly large amount of glitter in his hair

larry cries of laughter whenever he sees him

ash thinks he’s a QUEEN and insists that he comes over and lets her fiddle with his hair and actually make it v pretty and sparkly

so he accepts!!!!!

sal also loves little kids and is super good with them. sometimes kids get scared of his mask, but it’s easy for him to reassure them

when soda is born, sal declares he’s going to be her favorite uncle

and he’s right!

larry’s not jealous though cause yeah, sal is pretty great

and honestly? sal is super protective of soda. he shields her from seeing or hearing any bad things

i also headcanon sal’s voice is a bit like kurt cobain’s- so he kind of sings like him too? but doesn’t scream or anything. his singing voice very soft like kurt’s in the beginning of lithium

sal doesn’t really like to sing though. in front of people, at least

he loves music box versions of songs, they’re just so relaxing and they help him fall asleep a lot of the time

also when he sleeps it’s usually on his back, so gizmo lays on his stomach through the night. sal doesn’t move a lot during his sleep

he has sleepwalked though, to larry’s place

and larry woke up and saw sal (this is after he first saw him without his mask) and he saw him without his glass eye For The First Time

larry TRIES not to wake him up but pretty much fails and sal kind of has a panic attack

he’s like “that- i- i’m sorry- my eye-” and covers it but larry pulls his hand down back to his side and is like “it’s ok you look super cool without it”

prom is honestly one of the best nights of sal’s life

he’s got his hair up in a bun and wears a rainbow-striped t-shirt with a high-waisted black skirt and a long-sleeved black shirt underneath the t-shirt and tall dark leather boots

his nails are painted blue, red, purple, orange to represent him, larry, ash and todd (tho his nails on his thumbs are painted black)

because he secretly loves dancing when no one is around, he just kind of rocks it at prom and his friends are blown away bc… holy shit?? sal fisher can Dance????

but he’s more playful with it

he and larry scream the lyrics to the songs that play

they all end up ditching the prom and going outside to the back of the school and just kinda goof off

larry and ash share a cigarette and todd drives all of them out beyond city limits to an open field

they just kinda lay down in the grass there and stargaze for nearly the entire night

they talk about stupid stuff and serious stuff

honestly sal just goes back to his apartment very later and happy cries

cause again, he gets so emotional over happy stuff

My Thoughts During: TMNT (2007)

So I haven’t watched this movie in a good long while, so let’s see if it’s as good as I remember it being! (Also I think the last time I watched it was when I was like…15? 16? My taste in movies has improved significantly since then. Also, I apologize for the excessive lols.)

·       So Leo mentioned Donnie being the one to keep things together and Splinter lectured Donnie on being there for his family, so was Donnie supposed to take over as leader while Leo was gone? IDK why but I always thought of Raph as the second in command (of course I don’t know a lot about TMNT, especially the stuff before 2007).

·       You know, I just realized how deep the whole “this home has become like an empty shell” line is. From my understanding, the shell of a turtle is basically like their spine and ribs on the outside forming a protective barrier, and all the squishy internal organs are inside. After the turtle dies and all the squishy stuff decays away, you’ll be left with an empty shell. A reminder that there was once life there, but now it’s just…empty. Freaking deep.

·       “I was born careful” Proceeds to break something, lol

·       “Friends you choose, but never your family” Freaking foreshadowing his relationship with his siblings (if they’re biologically related IDK) and the parallels with the turtles sibling relationships, stuff that went right over 11 year old me’s head.

·       “If you’re here to kill me could you make it fast?” Lol, mood

·       Why are all the monsters converging on New York? Is it because of the stars? I’m guessing it’s because of the stars.

·       RIP this poor guy getting beat up by Raph again, lol

·       Ah yes, the familiar Raph and Leo arguments, classic

·       Also, Casey’s expression when Raph is yelling about the whole “following the rule book thing”, he looks so confused, like he’s thinking “Dude, you haven’t been following that rule book either, why you going off on Leo about that?”

·       “So it’s like Hailey’s Comet, only monsters come out of it.” People always underestimate Mikey, it’s their mistake

·       Lol, the entire Raph vs. Little Monster fight. I love it

·       I’m honestly surprised the ribbons on those little dagger things Leo throws are blue, lol

·       Lol, the fact that Leo just starts lecturing this random guy and the fact that Raph is just like “he’s lecturing me!”

·       Lol, sassy Leo, you got to love it when Leo just starts taunting his opponents.

·       The whole argument between Raph and Leo is so emotional, like every little thing that’s built up from over the years, from Leo being gone longer than expected, and him suddenly returning just comes to a head. I love it while at the same time screaming at them to stop fighting

·       You know, something’s got to be said about how when Leo thinks he’s fighting some random stranger, he beats Raph, but when he knows he’s fighting his brother, he loses.

·       That moment when Raph realizes he let his anger get the better of him and nearly really hurts his brother, plus the Leo’s look of barely recognizing his brother, leading to him running off. What a freaking emotional moment. When Raph runs off you can hear him breathing heavy, like he’s struggling to breathe. He’s terrified of what he could do.

·       Also, RIP Leo’s swords

·       Poor Raph, he’s blaming himself and probably hating himself for what happened to Leo

·       Once Leo is captured, Raph steps up as leader, so why didn’t that happen when Leo went away for training? IDK

·       Somebody FINALLY got Casey some armor, bless

·       I love the fight outside of Winters Tower

·       “That would be the swirling vortex to another world, I presume.” Sassy Donatello, got to love him

·       Raph being gentle with Leo because he still regrets what happened and really does love his brothers even if he can’t always show it

·       “Winters!” “Looks more like fall” I THINK I KNOW WHERE MY LOVE OF PUNS CAME FROM, LOL

·       Also, Donnie’s reaction to Mikey’s pun is hilarious, that’s like how my siblings were when I started making puns all the time. (We’re not going to talk about how they forgot to make Donnie’s mouth move when he was talking to Mikey then, lol)

·       “I hate to see brothers fight like this.” LOOKS AT RAPH AND LEO (but mostly Raph) DONNIE JUST CASUALLY CALLING HIS BROTHERS OUT

·       Donnie slamming his staff on a guy’s toes and then saying temper temper, give me more sassy Donnie please

·       Leo arming up with a case full of swords, lol

·       “The thing about you immortal stone guys is that you’re immortal and…made out of stone…I sound like Mikey.” Lol

1. Baby things. I don't carry a normal purse with me, I always bring a fully equipped maternity bag with everything my daughter needs, diapers, baby wipes, cream, water, food, fresh clothes in case she gets dirty, toys, among many other things.

2. My phone, I always make sure I have it fully charged when I'm out in case of an emergency or if I need to Google something, take a picture and whatnot.

3. My wallet, I always carry some money with me in case I remember something I might need from the store or if I see something cute for my daughter.

4. A notebook and a pen, I always carry it in case I need to note something down like a phone number, a date of an appointment or just a reference in general.

5. A book, I usually always carry something to read with me, usually it's a manga volume but it can also be just a regular romance novel, a book of short horror stories or a fun magazine, in case I find a good spot I can sit and relax a little :)

5 things you'll find in my room :

1. Toys, lots of TOYS, I have baby things all over my apartment and my room is no exception, also my daughter's crib stays in my room because I still can't seem to sleep without her (I get anxiety when she's not close to me) so I have many of her little squishy, fluffy toys in my room.

2. Manga, I have all of my manga in my room, I plan on moving it to the living room but for now it stays in my bedroomroom very neatly organized, it's very precious, all the stories that I own mean something important to me so it's sort of my treasure.

3. Some of my figurines, I have many of them and they're a little bit all over the house.

4. Candles, I have a little obsession with candles, especially scented ones so I enjoy my collection of cute, colorful, yummy scented candles.

5. Mystic books, I have a few books about mystical beings like dragons, mermaids, fairies, elves, among others, I love it very much, I've always been into magical things, I have a wild imagination and love to day dream.

5 of my favorite things :

1. My daughter, my daughter is definitely my number one, she's the person I love the most in the whole universe. I thought I knew all about love before but when she was born I felt something like I had never felt before, I look at her and I just genuinely, selflessly love her and want her to be happy and safe, I would die one thousand deaths for my daughter, she's everything to me. ♥🐥

2. My fiancé, he's the best person I know, I love him with my whole heart, he's always so selfless, caring, patient, constantly making sure we're alright, he's hard-working, intelligent, sensitive and unlike anyone I've ever met, he's also my best friend and the best father for our daughter, even when we disagree we never fight, he never raises his voice or loses his temper, I could go on and on about how grateful I am to him but I'll stop here. ♥

3. Nature, I love nature, I love taking long walks by the river or just lay down on the grass, listen to the rain and thunder, the wind, how colorful flowers are, everything about it is very poetic and soothing for some reason.

4. Anime/manga, I love reading manga and watching anime, it's always very entertaining, I enjoy the different art styles and I can always relate to the characters to some extent, I enjoy the different stories and morals behind it, it's something I've always really enjoyed since I was a child, it makes me happy.

5. Music, music is a huge part of my life, I'm always playing some sort of music throughout the day, even if it's just soft background music, or nursery rhymes for my daughter, music has always been a safe escape from everything and reality itself when I need it, it's funny how sometimes lyrics can speak for us, all the things we can't say.

5 things I'm into right now :

1. I'm currently rereading Death Note and I find myself falling in love with it all over again, I also plan on rewatching the anime with my fiancé soon, it's always been one of my absolute favorites alongside Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul : re.

2. My fiancé is ethnically South Asian and his native language is Bengali (he's also fluent in Urdu and Hindi which is pretty similar). We're both fluent in quite a few languages which is pretty awesome but in my case I only know European languages while he knows both South Asian and European (he's pretty awesome) so even though I already know the basics I've recently started really investing more of my time in trying to learn Bengali so I can one day surprise him by being able to hold a conversation, not to mention I love Bengali and Hindi music. 😁

3. The Arcana, I recently downloaded this game called The Arcana because I was searching for something interesting to play on my phone and it came up so I thought "Why not?" I've only been playing it for around 3 days but it seems pretty entertaining thus far and I love the art and mystery in it, it also has a very mystic vibe to it.

4. The Death Note original soundtrack, Death Note is wonderful in general and not only have I been obsessing over it all over again but also the music in it, it's just beautiful, I play it a lot around the house all day lately.

5. Fruit, I know this sounds weird but I've been eating a lot of fruit lately, probably because it's been extremely hot and fruit is fresh and juicy, I'm not sure but I've been definitely eating a lot of it, it's my favorite thing to eat at the moment.

5 things on my to-do list :

1. I'm currently organizing my daughter's birthday party, it's her first birthday and I'm a little obsessed with it, I'm a perfectionist and I want to make sure everything goes well, it's in less than a month and I've already got it all planned out so I'm pretty optimistic.

2. I've been wanting to watch an anime called Kakegurui, I've got my eyes on it for a good while so hopefully I'll start it soon!

3. Going to Europa-Park, we're planning on going a few days following my daughter's birthday and I'm super excited about it.

4. Take care of my mom's dog, my mom is going for a small trip this weekend and I'm supposed to take care of her dog so I'll have an extra baby in my home this weekend. 😁

5. Take care of the house, my usual domestic chores, do laundry, cook, keep the house clean, take care of my daughter, make sure she's safe, that's about it. 💛
