u know wot im gonna talk about attack the block. its a movie made cause the director was fed up of seeing 'hoodie horror' and charecters like Moses[played by John Boyega in his first acting credit], black kids who got involved in bad stuff/expelled from school beeing shorthand for 'pure evil'
he went around interviewing kids to get the language right and meet people like moses. heres the full quote: "We did find some who were quite similar to Moses, whoâd been excluded from school or got involved with bad stuff. And theyâre not monsters. Theyâre very empathic, and when you spend a bit of time with them theyâre normal and sweet, enthusiastic and bright. But theyâve just been cornered a bit by life, and I think that often the way theyâre portrayed doesnât help with that. Culturally, it makes the problem worse, not better." from an artical in the list
its fun its heartbreking its political its alien designs are awsome and it shows people and community with love that are so often treated like shit when portrayed.
#the opening 5 min is a bit tough to get thru now im older like any other movie and it would be treated v differntly [they mug a white woman]#but the later âif we knew you were on our block we wouldnt have mugged youâ is just amazing and makes me homesick#unfortunatly its not on any major straming sites#<- pirates everything anyway#âaw man shes a nurse they dont get paid nothingâ<- so fucking true#always got the two pyromainiaks <- was one of em#damn the sheer love i have for this film is of the charts#attack the block

in my experience i didnât get interested in kingdom hearts by watching or playing anything first. i got interested by watching people post about cute anime children murdering each other and i was like âfascinating. i wonder how this got past the disney censors. letâs find outâ
#kingdom hearts#khposting#of course i stayed for all the genuine heartfelt stuff. but thatâs what got my attention first#media that is clearly supposed to be dark and is dark: meh. ok#media that is supposed to be fun and childish that dips a bit into dark stuff for delicious tonal whiplash every now and then: LETâS GO#âwhy do you only like childrenâs stuffâ eh. cuz i like when stuff can be messed up and real#but when the creators arenât allowed to lean on blood gore and violence as a crutch. i like when theyâre forced to think outside the box#you tell a kids media creator they arenât allowed to kill someone and they go ok. got it. i will create a fate worse than death#now thatâs what iâm talking about!#not saying all adult stuff is uncreative blood gore and violence of course#just saying that itâs always a possibility and it makes me nervous#i like being personally guaranteed in advance that i wouldnât be jumpscared by upsetting things and personal triggers bc iâm v sensitive#i get anxious without that guarantee#it isnât baseless anxiety at all it happens. i have been shown so much awful stuff in one of my film-related classes lately#including one of my own worst personal nightmares#call me cringe idc

I filmed a timelapse of my process for this quick oneđ
Honestly not really happy with how this turned out & Iâll probably redo itđ but I always love making process videos!!
I REALLY HAVE TO TRUST MY PROCESSđđđ these paintings always look AWFULđł until the very end but luckily Iâve painted enough of them to keep pushing through and not give up in tears bahahahahahah
1) I start out just painting the base colors. I have a dirty paint palette I NEVER cleanđ€ but tbh I like it bc every color I want is basically already mixed from a previous painting, and I like having all of the colors kind of blend together. If I need a different color though Iâve never had problems mixing to get exactly what Iâm looking forđ
2) WAIT FOR IT TO DRY (I didnâtâŠyou can see at one point I check the back of the page to make sure I didnât destroy it completely). This paint dries SUPER fastâŠI am just impatient bc the next step is when it all starts to come togetherđ„°:
3) COLORED PENCIL ON TOP!! I always make sure the paint covers almost all of the page except the parts I want to keep really white, because the colored pencil looks awful if it isnât drawn on top of paint. I just sharpen them and go in with the small details, but I also love going crazy with the colors and using them to shade, add highlights, add extra pops of color etc. For example, on Beaâs shirt I used gold, dark blue, dark brown, normal brown, mauve, tan, olive greenâŠI just like to experiment and have fun choosing the colors (esp ones that I think SHOULDNâT work but they DOđ„°)
Sometimes I switch between the paint and the colored pencil bc the paint can be used to kind of âeraseâ any mistakes, but I canât go too crazy or add a lot of water to it because I use the cheapest paper known to man and it gets destroyed SO EASILY đ« all of the fanart Iâve drawn is in âŹ1 notebooks
#this is himi gouache crayola colored pencils btw#on printing paper (or worse idkâŠ)#in case you wanted to try and replicateđ honestly for thinfs like this unless youâre a professional#I feel like the cheap stuff is fine#also do you guys like the timelapse?#or should I do like my normal ones where I film tiny parts up close and stitch them all together?#idk I just wanted to show how awful my paintings look until the very end so I chose this wayđ#but I still donât like it that muchâŠ#oh well this is fanart Iâll just do the next panel and keep trying to improve đ€đ«¶#hope you guys enjoyed this though!!!!! Iâm not the best explainer#but if you have any questions or just want to talk about art !!!!!!#hogwarts legacy#hogwarts legacy fanart#hphl#hogwarts legacy oc#hogwarts legacy mc#leo babbit#leo x bea#Bea#i feel like this is unclear and I missed somethingâŠđ„Č

Anyone who has seen how russia treats its prisoners isn't shocked at the treatment of the terror attack suspects. It's is a common pattern: torture someone then film their "confession". Similar things are done to Russian political prisoners, foreign nationals, Ukrainian prisoners of war, Ukrainian civilians..... with other variations, sometimes not filmed, sometimes even worse torture, sometimes sexual violence...
#russia#then there are those ppl who say why concerned about terrorists#um....#civilized country?#torture#how systematic it is#similar patterns#we know awful things r done to Ukrainians#without cameras#i cant imagine#smersh does a lot of confessions#and its done to ppl in prison#regular prisoners#film to blackmail them#rape them and film it and blackmail them and they do things for them so they dont get into lower prison caste...#i have been looking at these hr abuses#the worst of things#how ppl suffering#something must be done to stop horrors#theyre showing it before the world and does it care#nazi like#how it suppresses citizens like#if u feel like want to protest... and u know what goes on in those prisons...

my opinion on the Blake lively situation
#okay so I never HATED Blake lively#but I did have a feeling about her#so Iâd always like purposely not interact or view any interview or anything of hers that came up on my feed#I DONâT like Ryan Reynolds and never have#I just find him a try hard and annoying#and I did not like the couple of Blake and Ryan#they just seemed soooo pick me#so yeah I tried to just ignore the whole downfall of Blake lively thatâs been happening#bc sometimes I just donât care to comment or learn about celeb drama#BUTTTT ofc i got sucked into it#and not Blake tryna have a Margot Robbie in Barbie moment đđ#âbring your girlfriends and wear florals!1!1â GIRL MARGOT NEVER TOLD ANYONE TO WEAR PINK TO BARBIE IT WAS A NATURAL THING#not to mention I didnât even realise this movie was about domestic violence as Iâve never read the book#and it was NOT being marketed as one thanks to Blake and Ryan#also why did Ryan have to get involve#ALSO this morning I saw the interview from 2016 where Blake is being rude to the interview#and oh my god itâs awful like SHE FIRSTLY FAT SHAMES HER OFF THE BAT NO HESITATION#then proceeds to ignore the poor interviewer#like doesnât give her eye contact AT ALL#which I felt so bad for the interview bc Iâve BEEN THERE#this is why Iâd hate to be a celeb interview bc imagine getting treated like a third rate individual by these big headed LOSERS who think#theyâre better than you just bc theyâre famous#I could NOT#anyways also Blake tried to have a whole feminist moment when the interviewer asked her about the clothes she wears in the movie#âwould anyone ask the men about the clothesâ#UM BITCH YES??? COSTUMES??? IN FILM?? IS A THING ???#also can I just say Blake has always had the worst hair ever and the fact she has a hair care line is insane bc SHE IS KNOWN TO HAVE BAD HAI#and I never thought her fashion was good like even when people were simping over her met gala outfits I NEVER EVER SAW THE VISION#anyways yeah lol#the interviewer thing triggered me lowkey like HOW RUDEEEE

To this day I don't understand how Ghostbusters Frozen Empire had the budget to hire all of these absolutely incredible actors, a surprisingly excellent cinematographer, a SFX team that's second to none, AND a phenomenal composer (HE WROTE THE 2005 PRIDE AND PREJUDICE SOUNDTRACK FOR FUCK'S SAKE)- and yet STILL couldn't manage to hire even semi-decent writers (this also applies to Ghostbusters Afterlife actually)
(whoever came up with the Phoebe/Melody plot goated tho)
#it's time for my actual dislike for these films purely from a critical standpoint to come out again lmao#I might write an essay about why frozen empire ended up being a perfect mess#kind of terrible but with characters so good and so well played I obsessed over them for months lmao#god I love these characters so much. and Checkmatch plot ilysm#but I genuinely dislike these two films in about 80% of aspects otherwise lmao#again maybe I should write an essay on this#why the script was fucking shite but the film still sort of slayed in a weird sort of way#I'm sorry to bring negativity here but I feel like a bit of an imposter sometimes in this fandom as someone who actually didn't like-#-the films đ#not that I didn't enjoy them to a degree they're just ...#not great objectively#like I said terrible terrible awful script and these characters deserved so much better#and also from a franchise perspective...#okay I'll shut up now anyhow#I was thinking about this today anyways#HOW could they not hire good writers đ#such good everything else....#cass thinks ab stuff#ghostbusters#ghostbusters frozen empire#ghostbusters afterlife

Read an exclusive excerpt of "Chapter 5: The Mysterious Cal and Lily" from Tangled Vines: A Complete Investigation of the Vatore Disappearances, the bestselling phenomenon sweeping Sim Nation!
The advent of the Roaring '20s put a new city on the map. Prohibition was in full swing across the nation (though often loosely and selectively enforced), but citizens were more eager than ever to revel in excess. Producers of alcoholic beverages (including the Vatore family itself, having swiftly resumed business operations despite the loss of its future inheritors) transitioned to an outward emphasis on medical spirits while moving recreational production underground. Equally clandestine speakeasys began cropping up by the dozens, but one city's winding sidewalks, grimy storefronts, and labyrinthine system of underground tunnels made it particularly well-suited to hosting these secret locales. Soon enough, San Myshuno was the pinnacle of glitz, glamor, and elegant debauchery. All who attended a party wanted to be seen. Curiously, though, two of the names most often uncovered in tabloid archives, Cal and Lily, seemed to fully avoid the increasingly ubiquitous flash of the camera. While other frequenters of the speakeasy circuit often found their grainy black and white faces in print, providing endless fodder for the burgeoning gossip rag industry, this pair remained elusive, which of course sold even more papers. Fellow partygoers pitched first-hand accounts to the highest bidders, and readers clung onto every salacious word. Lily and Cal were always observed to arrive together, but she would soon make a beeline for the gramophone while he settled in at the bar. Nearly every report calls Lily an exquisite beauty with an almost supernatural ability for drawing men into her orbit. In some instances, partygoers describe a herd of suitors nearly erupting into fisticuffs as they competed for her attention. It is impossible to say how many of these accounts are exaggerated or even fabricated. Nevertheless, it is clear she was quite the force. At the end of the night, she would leave with her chosen companion, stupefied by his stroke of good luck, on her arm. Meanwhile, Cal would watch listlessly from a distance, nursing a glass of whiskey he was never observed to actually drink. The relationship between the two was unclear, as was his reason for accompanying her, as he seemed to have little interest in the raucousness surrounding him. He rarely engaged with other guests or even Lily herself, though there is at least one report of an argument in which he seemed with little success to be dissuading her from leaving with yet another man. One cannot help but draw parallels to a certain set of siblings with suspiciously similar names. Despite being younger, Caleb Vatore was always said to be protective over his sister Lilith's interests, even if she rarely heeded his advice. Digging into the newspaper archives at Myshuno Meadows Library unearths several more disturbing accounts. Increasingly, there were whispers that the men Lily seduced completely vanished from San Myshuno society after coming into contact with her. While there was a small spike in unsolved murder cases at the time, a concrete connection between the victims and the mysterious Lily cannot be made. In one story, which admittedly reads like a hallucinatory drug trip, Lily is described as a succubus with glowing red eyes and sharp blood-stained teeth. This account was clearly dismissed, for its revelations were never entertained further. All at once, the champagne and glitter dissolved into a more sober era, and these socialites vanished from public life just as swiftly. In isolation, similarities between Cal and Lily and the disappeared Vatore siblings may seem like mere coincidences. In truth, it cannot even be proven that they existed. No official records matching either individual have been discovered. One could argue that they were works of fiction concocted to boost sales or composites drawn from several individuals. However, considered alongside the evidence to be presented in later chapters, the theory that this duo and the Vatores are one and the same becomes too tantalizingly probable to dismiss.
#ts4#sims 4#sims 4 story#ts4 story#simblr#story: hzid#lilith vatore#caleb vatore#oops i dropped something#thanks to the magic of storytelling i've obtained the footage#anyway i've decided lilith only kills men (on purpose anyway)#she doesn't count the accidents#also i realized while writing this that it was very subconsciously inspired by this kind of obscure british film called bright young things#(which is itself based on the novel vile bodies by evelyn waugh)#i remember it mainly being about vapid awful people in a downward spiral of increasingly debauched behavior#(in other words highly recommended)#but specifically there's a reporter character played by james mcavoy who picks up intel at parties#and then feverishly dictates his reports by phone in the middle of the night to ensure they make the morning edition#that's exactly what i'm picturing here#it's like the '20s version of celebrities being papped#anyway if you read everything under the cut and then also made it this far you're a real one#gonna cool it on the lore for now and hold onto the more interesting bits a while longer

So I watched the Directorâs Cut versions of Rebel Moon Part One & Two, respectively renamed Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness, exactly one week ago, the day they were released.
As a person who generally doesnât enjoy the idea of watching films that are over 2.5 hours, really isnât a fan of gore, and thinks sex scenes are uncomfortable and unnecessary 95% of the time, I was rather apprehensive, to say the least, since those three things are precisely what the two movies promised. Still, I managed to watch them on the same day even though the fact it was hot outside and consequently almost 30°C in my room probably didnât help me not to feel unwell for a good portion of my viewing experience :â)
However, thereâs a fourth thing the new version of the films promised, and this, on the contrary, is exactly what I love and probably what kept me going: more lore. I wonât go into too much detail so as not to spoil major plot points here, but I think Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness kept all their promises.
Some characters get a proper introduction (notably Aris and Nemesis), or more screen time so we understand them and what they do (mostly the Priests, Hawkshaws, and Jimmy), or a better, more satisfying, sometimes more emotional ending. We also get completely new scenes and characters, and that too greatly helps the narrative, whether itâs by adding more backstory, taking the time to explain someoneâs motivations more clearly, revealing how some people reacted to certain events, or detailing how something works.
Also, some of the âmistakesâ viewers complained about, for example the spaceship being powered with coal or somebody not missing any teeth after we clearly see them get knocked out, are fixed in the Directorâs Cut. It turns out those things were not illogical, they were just censored for the PG-13 versionâŠ
As for the sex scenes, while they werenât indispensable, I have to admit they do serve a purpose. The two âmainâ ones have a character in common, so we can see how different that person feels and acts with each of their two partners. The scenes need to exist together because theyâre only really interesting when you compare them, but thatâs how they tell a story. Never in my life had I been so happy to see someone successfully remove a bra, haha! Thereâs also, of course, the one that involves tentacles, which wasâthankfullyâmilder than I thought it would be, and another unexpected one that happens off-screen but was a rather nice and cute surprise, in my opinion.
And, yes, aside from giving us more blood and more sex, we also get⊠more wheat! I really donât mind, though. In fact, this is probably an unpopular opinion, but Iâd watch one hour of the cast (actually) harvesting crops in slow motion over just one minute of heads exploding any day :â)
While theyâre still not perfect, I think Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness are improved versions of A Child of Fire and The Scargiver. I still like Part Two better than Part One, but overall, as promised, we get more information about the world, the characters, and their stories in the Directorâs Cut. Sometimes, itâs just a new line of dialog or a short interaction thatâs added here and there, but it really does a service to the films and makes them, although theyâre much longer (especially the first one), feel more coherent, more compelling, and less rushed.
At the end of the day, I think what I most appreciate about Rebel Moon is still that it was brought to life with a lot of care and passion. The two art books, Wolf: Ex Nihilo: Cosmology & Technology and Wurm: Ex Materia: Heroes & Monsters, confirm how painstakingly made and well-thought-out everything was, and I will always love and respect this about this project.
#so yeah the main problem I have with the r-rated versions is that... theyâre r-rated#aside from that they made me go 'ooooh okay' or 'why didnât we see that before?' several times#too bad they removed the names of the locations this time though because that helps me memorize them#that and the explanation/summary at the beginning#rebel moon#chalice of blood#curse of forgiveness#a child of fire#the scargiver#zack snyder#in interviews and the art books everyone says heâs a great person to be and work with#so many people in the film industry are accused of being awful behind-the-scenes so thatâs nice to know not everyone is secretly a monster#that makes me like and want to support his work even more

This is my formal plea to literally everyone that you STOP going out and buying tickets to Disney remakes and sequels. As someone who holds that studio very close to my heart for the magic they used to create, it genuinely blows my mind how they're still finding immense financial success with shitty reincarnations of their preexisting IP. Do people not understand? Hate alone will do nothing! The top people at Disney are suffocating their artists with corporate greed! The executives and the shareholders do not give a SHIT if people on letterboxd hate their movie. If it's making money in the box office, they will continue making garbage because it WORKS! Please get a fucking grip and support other animation studios or literally any new IP that Disney actually decides to take a chance on, because money speaks, and it's the only language these current money hungry cowards at Disney seem to understand! I know for a damn FACT Walt has been turning in his grave for the past ten to fifteen years and it makes the prior Disney obsessed child in me SICK!!!
#disney#moana 2#snow white remake#literally fuck this shit I hate this greedy ass company so damn much#firing their fucking 2d animation team bc they're unionized#hiring diverse cast just for the tokenization and then leaving them to deal with the backlash#leaving artistic decisions until the last fucking moment and changing things at the flip of a coin when shit gets rocky#i would actually rather pull out my own nail than watch the new snow white movie#I know it makes me sound insane#but there is something so innately evil about taking the most classic film in your company's history and bastardizing it#everything about it looks shit#the casting for the evil queen is awful the cgi looks shit the costuming is an eyesore the girlboss storyline is going to being grating#like genuinely I love the original snow white so deeply just as a work of art it is such a beautiful and important movie in cinema#and it's the last one I thought they would dare mess with and here we are#like just actually fuck them. luigi if you need another name...bob iger might be an option...#that is a joke please don't put me on a watchlist fbi#but seriously like go watch something else literally anything else#starve them of their precious profits until they make some good shit again#until they let creativity flourish like Walt once did#go watch the wild robot or something of that nature if u need a good animated film#disney is not the animation powerhouse anymore i fear
