azkaban was the worst thing sirius had ever experienced. he spent most the first six months of it staring at the wall of his cell. he wasted to close his eyes, wished for the cool oblivion of sleep, but it was a double edged knife. with sleep came dreams, and with dreams came james, and lily, and remus' horrified face. he vaguely registers someone moving into the cell opposite him, but he assumed it was a random death eater. he didn't really care, to be honest.

until one day a voice came from the cell. "You didn't do it, did you?" sirius could have cried. finally someone who didn't think he was just another indoctrinated member of the House of Black. someone believed him.

at first, they'd described universe where sirius had had remus and barty had had evan and they'd grown old together. but gradually, without any acknowledgement from either of them, the scenarios had turned to sirius and barty. buying a flat together. adopting a dog.

it wasn't perfect, but it was as close as azkaban could get.

sirius would still have times, though, where it was too hard. where he'd face the wall for days or weeks at a time and wait until he could face the world again. it was still better, though, because he could turn around and barty would be there.

except, one time, he'd been out of it foe a couple weeks, time and sound warping around him, when he returned to some semblance of himself, barty was gone. dead, a visitor had told him, of an illness.

all sirius had left were the thousands of worlds they'd imagined together. and that was how he lived for the rest of his stay in azkaban, stuck in his imagination, until he saw peter in the newspaper and his life reshaped around the one sole purpose: revenge.

he'd only realised barty was still alive after it was too late. after barty had been lost, and sirius had only to mourn the year or so they could have had together, the year or they'd wasted.

the thing is that i know bnha is a shounen and a lot of shounens are generic hero stuff - which doesn't make it any less entertaining, (and most animes/mangas i like are shounens, i mean look at my url lmao), but in reality it's not amazing writing and it has a lot of stereotypes.

but even then what drives a lot of ppl to bnha is the characters. even if the story has been done a lot of times, bnha manages to have multiple interesting characters. midoriya, uraraka, iida, todoroki, shinsou, kirishima, all might, heck even side characters who don't appear much are able to shine and have fans, no matter how small their community is! and apparently bnha did have some interesting ideas with stain and the league of villains denouncing the flaws of hero society! midoriya himself was failed by hero society, for being quirkless and for being forced to be a hero by taking on a lot of self-destructive powers!

and it's so frustrating bc bnha doesn't do shit with these ideas. bnha still favors the hero society and the privileged dumbfucks in it - read: b*kugou and end*avor. no one gets any real justice here.
