I had no expectations when I watched this asadora because I read some bad reviews and saw the low ratings when it was still airing. BUT, I surprisingly really liked Mai Agare! I cried with a big smile on my face when I watched the last episode, the ending was really satisfying for me ♡

Honestly, some asadoras are like a chore to complete, but for me Mai Agare was very light and easy to watch. of course there were times when I didn't like the heroine's decisions, but when I followed her journey until the end, I could see the point of the story why it was made that way.

WHAT I DON’T LIKE:

1. the first half and second half are like different stories, too different. it's a shame because the scene where the heroine learns to become a pilot is very well made, but it just stopped in the second half. I’m sure there will be many viewers who will drop this asadora here, but luckily all the differences will be one complete story when you watch this until the last episode.

2. seems like they ran out of funds in the second half because it was maximized in the flight scenes. they used the same place continuously and it really felt like in a studio. however, Mai Agare is still much better than Hiyokko in this regard.

3. like other asadoras, they will bring up a little more problems in the last 20 episodes, but fortunately it is finished well.

4. the bond between family relationships is quite good, but it still feels like there is a wall between them.

WHAT I LIKE:

1. although the heroine has some flaws in her character, I quite like her because she is always considerate about other people’s feelings, values teamwork highly, she is always able to see the good in people and passionate about whatever she does.

2. her family relationships. not the best, but I like how all her family members are willing to learn to help. although theres love-hate relationship with heroine's older brother, everything ends well.

3. her father is a hard worker and really loves his family, this is one of things that is quite rare in other asadora.

4. i really like when the heroine is learning to be a pilot at aviation school. the scenes here changed my perspective on pilots and the world of aviation.

5. i like the relationship between the heroine and the instructor during aviation school. how the instructor is shown as a tough character, turns out to be warm and well-intentioned.

6. teamwork! especially when the heroine is in the college club and aviation school. i really like the friendship between the heroine and her friends.

7. hero (ml). yes, he has flaws and seems gloomy, but he is one of the best heroes. the thing I like the most because he is always gentle to the heroine.

8. the relationship between heroine and hero. i like how their relationship is two-way, discussing with each other every time they make a decision, compromising with each other's work, working together to take care of their daughter, and trying to always make time for each other while still giving space for themselves.

9. glad in the last few episodes the heroine begins to explore her initial dream, which is in the world of aviation. I like how she begins to explore again not as a cure for regret, but as an addition to the various chosen dreams that she has done and perfects them all.

10. i like how this story ends! for me Mai Agare is an asadora that ended very beautifully. I am really satisfied with the ending. the thing I’m most happy about is that all of the heroine's friends came to witness how the heroine fulfills her dream. the final scene is so beautiful and heartwarming.

Overall, even though this asadora has some bad reviews, i would still recommend you to watch Mai Agare! i remind you, if you want to be satisfied watching this, you have to watch it until the very last episode! the last 3 episodes are like keys that must be used to unlock in order to perfect the heroine's journey!♡

The rumbling car vrrrrrrmed to a long, slow stop. Barely had the tires stopped spinning, though, before a series of brightly-colored figures jumped out, resplendent in their swishing capes and eyewatering colors, dragging a number of containers behind them.

"Alright!" Mion Sonozaki shouted, sweeping her arm out as the impromptu cloak of her beach towel whooshed dramatically. It was a deep crimson, matching her Chinese style two-piece swimsuit. A pair of goggles perched like aviator's lenses on her forehead. "Hinamizawa Club, ho!"

"YEAH!" her coterie all shouted, punching the air. Keiichi, Shion, Rena, Satoshi, Satoko, Rika, and Hanyuu were all similarly attired, although Rena had her fluffy white towel wrapped around her waist like an impromptu skirt.

Mion, never one to be outdone, twirled before striking another dramatic pose and thrusting her finger out, aiming for the tranquil waters spreading to the edge of the horizon.

"We're gonna conquer this bea-yotch!" she shouted, her outflung arm pointing rock-steady towards the sandy beach. "No club in the history of Japan is gonna rock a beach as hard as we're gonna rock this one today!"

"WHOO!" the other club members cheered.

The driver's window of the car behind them rolled down, and Kasai leaned out slightly.

"I will be back around sunset, Mion-san." he told her, before leaning back in and rolling up the window. The car drove off, and Mion straightened up, rubbing her hands together and turning back to her club.

"Alright, safety check!" she said. "Kei-chan, umbrellas?"

"Check!" he said, and would have saluted if not for the two huge beach umbrellas he was cradling like a rifle against his shoulder.

"Shion, snacks and goodies?"

"Check!" her sister chimed, kicking one foot up onto the large plastic cooler full of frozen meats, condiments, and other food.

"Rena, water toys?"

"Check, check, and check!" Rena giggled, holding up a net bag full of bright plastic and foam shapes.

"Satoshi-kun, lotion and aloe vera?"

"Ch-check!" he stammered, exhibiting his own net bag full of plastic bottles.

"Satoko-chan, watermelon?"

"Heh." Satoko grinned toothily, baring her sole sharp fang, and hefted the round fruit in her arms. "Check, and ready for suikawari!"

"Rika-chan, bokken and blindfold?"

"Check, and ready for smashing!" Rika chirped, holding up her wooden sword and strip of cloth proudly.

"Hanyuu-chan, sunglasses?"

"I-I've got one for everyone!" Hanyuu cried, displaying the old fishing-tackle box that had been emptied out for use as a carrier.

"Alright!" Mion laughed, and swung around to point at the beach. "Let's partyyyyyy!"

Fan translations are also often more interested in explaining cultural context that an official translation may leave out in favour of making a digestible commercial product. The fan translation of Stop! Hibari-Kun that I read painstakingly explained every stupid reference to a commercial that was on television that month or an aviation disaster that was in the newspaper. Without those explanations extremely topical gag manga would be borderline unreadable.

with how much manga is published in Japan, i don't think the translation publishing industry without fan translations to serve as a vetting process. there are 40+ volume manga that ran for decades that you've never heard of because they never got translated. the well is unfathomably deep. but if something gets a fan translation and becomes popular that way, it can be a sure bet to license

these companies put out interest surveys and they definitely check these websites for what's popular. the industry wouldn't function without fan translations

Steak: Medium rare, I like it juicy :3

Milk: Whole cow milk baby.

Alcohol: I like a variety of beers (pretty much anything but IPA or a domestic), occasionally I like a glass of red wine, not my favourite, Martel VS cognac is my straight Spirit of choice and I have a laundry-list of cocktails but my faves are Aviation, Last Word and Blood & Sand.

Warm drink: pretty much anything. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate. I especially enjoy a chai latte.

I noticed this wasn't something I posted before, but now I am. Welcome to one of my stories

Aloha found it strange that Army hasn’t been contacting him. They’re boyfriends, aren't they? It happened a few weeks ago when Army said he was busy whenever Aloha wanted to do something with him. Heck, he even cancelled one of his parties just for him! What Aloha couldn’t understand was why Army wasn’t accepting his affections and small kisses. Rather things seemed to be awkward now! He felt like Army was rather hiding something from him, and the thought always threw him off. There was no way Army was hiding something from him, right?

That’s right.

Because he trusts Army, and Aloha believed he was just overreacting. After all, they’re been together for almost a year! Aloha wanted to do something sweet for Army, so here he was walking around Arowana Mall. It was one of his favorites seeing how close it was to the beach before he went off to the Reef seeing he couldn’t find the perfect gift.

A few minutes of looking through the stores is where he found it. Army complained once about his pajamas becoming too stiff, so Aloha thought of getting him a new pair, with a few other things. Happy with what he got, he was about to leave the Reef until he saw Army. Didn’t Army say he was busy today?

Oh well. What mattered is Aloha’s happy to see him and he was about to walk over to him until he saw another inkling near Army. One he knew all too well.

Why was Rider with Army? He wasn’t too sure what was going on, seeing the two chuckle. That was, until they shared a kiss together making Aloha drop the bag he was holding.

How could Army do this to him? Aloha didn’t want to believe it, but there Army was, hands locking with Rider’s as they shared another kiss. Why? Why did Army lied to him, telling Aloha he loved him yet here he was, with Rider of all inklings? Was all of that a lie when Army told him he loved him?

As much as Aloha wanted to make a scene, demanding to know what Army was doing, he just couldn’t move there. Instead, he turned the other way and fled the scene.

It was the next day when Designer Headphones first caught it when every S4 team were together. Aloha acting strange, rather his smiles seemed a bit forced. Designer Headphones wanted to question him, but decided to go to his two boyfriends for his question.

“Does Aloha seem a little down?” Is what Designer Headphones asked Snorkel, catching the two’s attention. “He did seem a little off yesterday. I’m worried ‘bout him Desy. He’s my best friend after all.” Snorkel replied, the two thinking before Aviators spoke up. “He seems to be avoiding Army a bit. Aren’t those two together?” Aviators said, getting Snorkel’s full attention. “I swear if that curry addict idiot did something to him, I’ll-“

“Hey Snorkel~ Hey Designer and Aviators~ How are you three doing~?”

Designer Headphones was startled by Aloha who suddenly appeared out of nowhere, a small smile on his face as Aviators and Snorkel looked over. “We’re doing good Aloha” Aviators replied, looking over to the other two. Designer Headphones was right, that smile on Aloha’s face looked forced. As if something had happened. “How about you, man~? Have you made plans for the party you wanted to throw?” Snorkel said, getting a look of surprise from Aloha before it disappeared. Aloha had completely forgotten about that. “Oh not yet~ I do want it to be the best one ever, though I’m actually stopping by Glasses and Goggles’s house later today!” It wasn’t a full lie as he was going to visit the two, but he did completely forget about making plans!

Cod, what was he going to do? He couldn’t even tell his best friend what happened yesterday and he was sure they’re suspicious!

Before anyone else could speak up, Aloha excused himself before heading off to find Goggles.

“Now I’m actually worried about him” Snorkel put his hands on his hips as he watched his best friend talk to Goggles, “I wonder if something happened to him.” Aviators and Designer Headphones wondered about that two, seeing Army had left soon after Aloha left to talk with Goggles and leaving with him.

“Sorry if I wanted to hang~” Aloha smiled, Goggles smiling back. “It’s no problem Aloha! It’s always fun when you’re around, right Glasses~?” Glasses look at Goggles before giving his answer. “Yeah? Though what made you want to hang out with us?” Glasses couldn’t help but ask, making Aloha quiet a bit before giving his answer. “Hm~? I haven’t hung out with you two properly before~”

Glasses couldn’t help but to notice how strange Aloha was acting. He was sure Goggles didn’t notice, but he sure did. Was Aloha hiding something? Soon, they made it to the house Goggles and Glasses shared with each other, Aloha humming.

“I didn’t know you two live together~” Aloha hummed, making Glasses flush. “That’s because we’re-“

“GOGGLES!” Glasses’s face was a shade of blue now, as he started to cover his face. “Ah~? Don’t tell me you’re hiding something from everyone~?” Aloha has a mischievous look on his face before putting his phone down on the coffee table. “Oh yeah! Do you mind if I talk to you alone, Goggles?” Aloha asked as Goggles. “Sure! You said you wanted to talk about something! Glasses can you stay in the living room?” Goggles said before dragging Aloha off to another room.

Glasses couldn’t help but to wonder what Aloha wanted to talk with Goggles, but if it was for private reasons, then he shouldn’t pry. He wondered why Aloha left his phone here and why wasn’t he near Army. Weren’t they together? That was when he saw it.

It was the text Glasses saw on Aloha’s phone while Goggles was talking to him in another room.

From Army: It’s over between us.
