What’s your opinion about Tony taking Peter along with him to the airport? Of course he did NOT force him or blackmail him, people are literally making shit up to make Tony look bad (because that’s literally all they have, just words without facts) but just in general what do you think?
The way i see it, this is a good, supposed to be safe mission preparation first mission for him, but people saying he was bad for doing this to peter.
What do you think?
I mean, storyline-wise, it's pretty forced. The MCU high-ups were like, "Spider-Man makes money; let's get him in there!" So. What can you do.
From within, I liked how we were already well past his origin story, and I loved the dynamic between two Nerdy Boys, I thought the thing about Aunt May being young was weird but fine, since I love getting away from tropes and the 'sweet grandma' trope has been beaten to death. I loved Spider-Man as he was written and acted because he was the quintessential silly nerd weirdo who got crazy excited over stuff and nerded out about weaponry and superheroes and everything.
I liked how Tony was explicitly stated to order Peter to stay back and just web them up. I like how both of them were still playing around a little bit; the "Underoos!" thing made it clear Tony wanted Steve to knock it off but never expected a real fight. Even after having Spider-Man take Steve's shield, he still didn't instigate a battle; he just wanted to use Spider-Man as a tool for de-escalation. I was pleasantly surprised, at the time, by Steve being the one to push for a battle, and for his side to end up going WAY too far over and over again, because it proved his imperfections, which I love to see in my superheroes. (I of course abhorred the backtracking in later movies.)
Overall, I thought Tony noticing Peter made sense, since Tony's been leading the Avengers in all but name since the start, no matter what anyone says about Steve, and it makes sense for Tony to be on the lookout for others like himself and the team. It also makes sense that Tony sat on this after learning who Peter was until he found he needed someone to help him get his friends back before the United States government killed them. I wasn't fond of the sudden trip to Germany, but I understood the need for speed and, with the information given about Tony's original plan, I realize he was backed against a wall and making a tough choice.
I loved how, when everything got bad as hell, Tony stopped everything and ran to Peter to order him to stand down and stay out of the fight; I loved how scared he'd been when he'd gotten to Peter's side, because the kid had been in real danger thanks to Steve's team and could have gotten hurt far worse. It is telling to me that Steve was the one to injure Peter, even after learning how young Peter was (there's no way Peter's voice was the voice of an adult, ffs), yet Steve did not ensure Peter was okay. Tony did. Tony was the one to check if the kid was all right and then ensure he stayed out of the increasingly escalating battle.
If the rest of the MCU movies hadn't come out and I hadn't been forced by a bunch of brats on the Internet to endure some of the dumbest bullshit the MCU fandom writes about how sweet angel Steve Rogers did no wrong and evil devil Tony Stark wrought the world asunder, I would actually say that I loved Civil War, for all its faults. Because Steve wanted to be a hero, Tony kept trying to hold everything together, and neither of them did a perfect job but Tony did well and Steve did horribly, and it was about time we got some character depth on Captain America and got to see Tony's merits as a leader, too.
And then. You know. The rest of the movies, and the fandom, and now I want to burn the world to ashes every time someone even mentions MCU Steve Rogers or Civil War to me.

OK, you got me started.
Maybe you didn't know that. Maybe you honestly had no idea that you were saying something that is a direct attack against people who have gone through the exact mental illnesses Tony had and recognize his struggles as their own.
I have PTSD and depression and let me tell you something straight from the start.
Tony Stark does not represent me or anybody like me. Lose this ridiculous idea that Tony Stark has PTSD. He doesn't. He displays zero symptoms of PTSD.
He has anxiety at best, and is probably a narcissist. Yes, his actions and behaviour are very consistent with Covert Narcissism.
His "fear of loss" is the fear of abandonment, of no longer being able to control those around him.
His "my way or the highway" mentality, his inability to listen to or trust others, his paranoia and inability to accept responsibility.
All are massively consistent with narcissism.
...and before the Tony fans shriek, guess what the main cause of narcissism is? Childhood neglect. QUELLE SURPRISE! That said... His daddy being nasty to him does not absolve him being outright abusive to others. That is the excuse real life abusers use btw.
Whatever he has though: let us stop right now blaming mental health for Tony Stark's shitty actions. The idea that "trauma" absolves him is a harmful and dangerous idea which perpetuates negative stereotypes about mental health.
The sheer amount destructive and harmful things Tony does which cause mass death is what prevents him from being "representation" for mental health.
If Tony was anybody else... nobody would be saying he should not take responsibility for things which actively hurt and killed others because *muh trauma*.
Name a time when Tony was in a safe place to heal. I'll wait.
Every time he retired. He retires MULTIPLE times in between moves. Between Iron Man II and Avengers?
2 years.
Between Avengers and Age of Ultron
3 years.
Between AoU and Civil War
1 year
Between CW and IW
2 years
Between CW and Endgame
5 years.
That is a total of 13 years. Tony had 13 years of relative peace and quiet in which to get some self care and healing.
Compare that to Bucky who is confirmed as having PTSD and gets the sum total of 2 years to recover from 70 years of torture abuse, brain damage, trauma guilt and self-hatred. With NO support network. Unlike Tony, who had various people to support him. And Bucky has to contend with a fuckton of victim-blaming that Tony never did.
You literally just ignored the first part of OP's post, in which they noted that people constantly ignore Wanda's and Bruce's parts in Ultron.
These are excuses designed to absolve Tony of his responsibility for Ultron. Wanda did not mind control him: she gave him a vision.A vision he did not have to act opon. He chose to.
Tony was acting of his own free will and with his own agency the entire time. So was Bruce. This is why people blame Tony.
Unlike say,,,, hmmm I dunno Bucky who was literally mind controlled and had the very capacity for free choice and agency taken away from him, who was literally forced and tortured into doing things.... Tony was making a choice
(But isn't it WEIRD how people- usually Tony Fans) still insist on blaming an actual mind control and torture victim for his actions on the ground that "his body did it" - whilst trying to absolve the guy who was not mind controlled and had full bodily autonomy because "muh good intentions" and "muh trauma"
Yes, that's called victim-blaming.
You ignored how OP pointed out that the illegal arms dealing was Stane's actions, not Tony's, and that Tony shut it down as soon as he learned of it, saying "there are lines we don't cross.
Except... that's not what happened. Tony ran the company for 17 years as an adult. In all that time you're telling me he didn't notice his own stock going missing? He didn't notice the protests against his weapons being used on civilians in places like Sokovia?
The fact that it was only when he realized they were being used on *American soldiers* that he considered the line to have been crossed speaks volumes about Tony.
If he took drugs that were stopping him from doing his job as a CEO that is on him, not anybody else. Just like if somebody took drugs and decided to drive a car, you would not blame the car or the drugs.
Would Wanda not have attacked Tony's mind, then?
Since Tony was alreasdy planning to build Ultron even before he met Wanda, this bascailly makes no difference, but carry on.
Would Nick Fury and Black Widow have suddenly left him alone? Would he not have been dying from palladium poisoning?
How are Nick Fury and Natasha responsible for the stupid and reckless things Tony did when he thought he was dying. Did they make him do them? No. Thought not.
Would he have been able to suddenly change the route his company was taking without his friends turning their backs on him (which they did at first) and Stane trying to kill him?
Actually, yes. He's was the CEO, for goodness sake. He was also a grown-ass 38-year-old man, not a little kid.
You know he could in that capacity just fire Stane right? Right? As soon as he had evidence for his activities he could fire him on the spot? That's what CEOs can do? He could fire the whole Board of Directors if he wanted to.
But even if! Even if he went to therapy! Do you think therapy is a magical cure-all? Do you think people who go to therapy for PTSD suddenly don't have panic attacks anymore? That they don't get triggered, or fall back into their personal hells, or have days where they regress to who they'd been before therapy because healing isn't a straight line?
OK. Let;s talk about PTSD triggers.
People who are triggered may go into "fight or flight" mode. They may freeze. They may lash out. They may start having flashbacks. They may become depressed. They may become withdrawn.
What they do not do is take a highly dangerous object and use it to build abother hightly dangerous object despite warnings that it might be dangerous.
What they do not do is attack helpless unarmed people for 10 minutes with multiple weapons, pinning them against walls and attempting to blow their heads off.
What they do not do is ignore clear evidence for **years** of theft in their company, and ignore evidece their stock is falling into the wrong hands.
Nothing *repeat* NOTHING Tony does in the movies can be put down to him just being triggered. Blaming PTSD for Tony's violent and deliberately reckless actions is vile.
Honestly, shame on you for talking about therapy as if it's the cure-all for the world, as if every single problem life throws at people becomes butterflies and rainbows the instant a person talks to a professional about it all. As if Tony was The Main Problem of the MCU, and his capital sin was in not booking an appointment with a psychologist.
No, SHAME ON YOU.
People already think mental illness is an excuse for bad behaviour and Tony Stans are making this far worse with using conditions like mine as an excuse for everything Tony does.
Whether it be sexually harassing women
Building a murderbot
grooming and blackmailing a teenager,
or trying to murder an abuse victim in cold blood because he was upset about his disgusting daddy being killed.
How many people here, in real life, have mocked and derided Tony Stark as a character because he's a cis straight rich white man?
Let me tell you this right now.
Nobody would make excuses for Tony's actions the way they do if he was not a rich white male.
Just like in real life Tony can get away with things that anybody else would be thrown in jail for because he has money and connections.
Do you really think that poor people can get away with murder like Tony on the ground of abuse or trauma? No. They can't. They also can't get support or therapy. THEY will be persecuted and prosecuted, even for things they were driven to by desperation.
I am going to compare him to Bucky Barnes, fandom's favourite punchbag again because it illustrates this well.
One is working- class from a poor immigrant background who never had the power to say "no" or refuse to do what the high-ups told him. He was conscripted into into the army: if he refused to join up he'd have been imprisoned or worse.
He gets captured, experimented on, tortured, mutilated it, has his "brain put into a blender" and is forced to kill against his will?
What is the reaction? "He's still to blame. He chose to join up, he chose to go on that mission.... he could have escaped, he could have said no...."
Or "his body did it" as is the favourite excuse of Tony fans who want to entirely ignore the fact he had no control, autonomy or choice.
The other is a rich, priveleged guy with inherited money who had the best of everything. He is fully able to tell the government to go screw themselves, to refuse to do what he is told, and to buy his way out of any trouble he might get into.
He *chooses* to to drug himself into oblivion and drink himself silly when there are other options available. He chooses to do reckless things. He chooses to ignore the problems in his company. He chooses to go along with it because alternative is too hard.
He chooses to break multiple laws because his girlfriend is kidnapped. He chooses to mess with a highly dangerous supernatural artefact because he fears loss. He chooses to ignore advice, and people die. Over and over and over again because of his reckless actions and bad choices.
The reaction? "Its not his fault, he was manipulated" "its not his fault, he meant well!" "its not his fault, he's just trying to protect the people he loved"/
Its not about shaming: it is just a simple fact that rich white people can and do get away with the most henious things imaginable because of who they are. If Tony was poor like Bucky or black or Asian he would not be able to.
everyone always focuses on Sokovia and Ultron and Tony's involvement but no one ever thinks about how Bruce was also involved completely because they're both scientists. no one thinks about Wanda purposefully going in and digging in Tony's head, amplifying his PTSD and putting visions of all his friends dead in his head with the intent of making Tony create Ultron
Everyone always focuses on blaming Tony for the bomb that killed Wanda's parents but no one thinks about Tony being so shit faced he couldn't see straight at that time bec he was so deep in self-medicating his trauma that he could not even run his company and that it was Obidiah Stane that was the one in charge of the company and illegally selling the weapons that killed her parents
Everyone focuses on Tony selling weapons in the first movie but no one thinks about how it was Howard Starks company and that Tony was groomed from birth to run it and that he had tried multiple times to make something else of the company but was constantly shut down with guilt tripping until he was kidnapped and he forced the manufacturing to end
Everyone focuses on Tony being "conceited" and "arrogant" and not "caring about anyone but himself" but no one thinks about how every single action he makes in his movies are about protecting the people he loves and cares for. His biggest fear is his friends- not himself- dying. he goes into every battle he's in fully prepared to die and does make the sacrifice play many many times
everyone always focuses on what Tony did wrong, but no one thinks about how much he has grown and how he spends every single waking moment trying to be a better and better man who cares so deeply about everyone and is trying to protect everyone the only way he knows how- and that is with the brain and intellect that had been the only thing about Tony that was ever praised about

Avengers Politics Rant
I know its so stupid to rant about a fictional series and its fictional politics but I am getting frustrated and need to vent.
Backstory: I am rewatching Marvel Studios movies again. Currently I am on Civil War. I've never watched the movie before this because everytime I've tried, I got so pissed off at the politics in the world. So far I've watched the movies before that in chronical order.
So what do I mean about politics? Well the government in simple terms. I am aware that this is a heavily United States focused movie but I feel as though this WAS set in the United States, it would be terribly different.
Before I get into this I wanna make it clear: I am aware this is a FICTIONAL world. They are fictional characters and I know they arent the real deal. This rant is simply to get the annoyance off my chest. I am most likely going to follow up with my own character/OC because what is the point of rewatching the entire movie franchise without having that in mind.
If there are beings that are more powerful than you and you went into government to be in control, then of course you try and control them. But if they are beings out of your control and you could potentially die, then you would want to have something of similar strength.
In the Iron Man movies, they wanted Iron Man to give his suit to use as weapons. We see time and time again, the military being fine with harming civilians. Even in real life, the military sacrificing few to save many makes little people bat an eye until their families speak out. But if those victims have no families, or if their families do not care, then there is no care for the people sacrificed for the greater good.
It made sense to me that Captain America didn't want to sign the Accords for more than the reasons he said. He went to war for his country. The civilians sacrificed for that war and many others made him get used to the "you cant save everyone" mentality because you can't in war.
Next: What are they gonna do if Wanda was more like how she was in Multiverse of Madness (except the madness. Just purely power level). They literally could do nothing. It would've been a losing battle. Like they were so lucky that they had no powerful beings.
This isnt an insult to favs but power-ranking here:
Iron-Man: He got guilt-tripped beforehand. He is a flawed being and was already damaged a bit cause of Potts (I havent finished Civil War yet). He didn't have his suit and without it, he is just a rich guy with human flesh.
Black Widow: She, despite being trained to be an assassin, is still only human. Without her toys, she just has martial arts. Yes that is still powerful but she won't fight a government official if it won't benefit her. (She is one of my favorites next to Hawkeye)
Falcon/Wanda: They are new to the team. Wanda got broken a bit from the fail bomb threat (though I think she did fine). Falcon is just simply new and a soilder.
War Machine: Also a solider. He is known to be difficult when it comes to jobs going away from the government.
Vision: He was born just the other day so I am not surprised he didn't do anything.
So I am not horribly surprised that they didn't do anything when the Secretary said that but the fact the Secretary was that confident that none of them were bout to jump that table was just surprising.
If I was a politician and there was super beings that could take on more than 100 to their one, I would not try and contain them. Especially since there has been instances of them being 'contained' and breaking out easily.
Anyways thats just the rant.

"it was awkward to see colin flirt and behave like a rake" "he gave me the ick" yes ! that is the fucking point!! congratulations! you have the media literacy skills of a fucking monkey because my 4-year old niece could understand it better than you do.
we are supposed to find colin cringey and annoying and get the ick because that is not who he is. he is not anthony, or simon, or even benedict. colin (apart from gregory) is the sweetest of all bridgerton brothers (i'm going by book canon) and his most identifiable character trait is the fact that he values an emotional connection above everything. he runs away to the continent because he wants to feel that emotional connection. he has meaningless sex in brothels because that is the example he has seen growing up, that is the norm. he tries so hard to fit into the norm. he goes out drinking, adopts an entirely new personality, learns flirtations because that is how he thinks he will fit in. he's got armour on, as violet said. he puts everyone's needs above his own, he stops rambling on and boring his family with details of his trip because he knows no one cares. he doesn't talk to anthony or benedict about his heartaches because he knows they still, somewhere in their heart of hearts, view him as the annoying younger brother. he's so devastated by his closest friend not responding to him that he adopts a new personality in the hopes that it might mask the hurt better. he runs after penelope in episode one because he is so attuned to her emotions that he knows she's hurting, and tries to comfort her even when she's spiraling and lashes out. he must have been hurt by her words in the "good night mr bridgerton" scene but he puts it aside to genuinely apologise to her when literally no one else in that family would do that. colin, instead of brooding over his own feelings, goes and corners penelope in her family's garden and apologises to her, disregarding his own hurt at being cruelly dismissed by his close friend.
penelope asking colin to kiss her is not a mark of how "pathetic" she is. she has written and shamed herself in a manner that is almost entirely unsalvageable. she is at her lowest point, and then portia comes in and reminds her of how undesirable she is, and she sinks even lower. she asks colin to kiss her because she sees it as a final act, after which she can quietly wave goodbye to her dreams of ever getting married and leaving her mother's home. colin kisses her because he is also keenly aware of how she's feeling. he knows how hurt she is, he wants to do anything to alleviate that. be it cracking a joke, or kissing her. he is gentle, because he wants it to be something she can dream of when she's by herself. penelope, at this moment, has no hope for herself, and their kiss is an act of letting go for her. no, it's not a pity kiss, no he did not like her after her glow up, he has always loved her. him being struck dumb is a reaction to her physical transformation, nothing more. he does not flirt with her in that ballroom scene, he only approaches her when she's in distress. he's not flirting with her. i can assure you penelope could wear the frumpiest most neon yellow gown of all time and colin would still go "<333 my pen" for her.
colin jumps to catch the balloon's ropes because he sees that penelope is in danger, he does not give a shit about anyone else lmao. he feels temporary relief when he sees eloise run to safety, but the moment he sees penelope in immediate danger, he rushes to take action. afterwards, when he sees that she's being comforted by debling (all my homies hate debling, even if he is aro/ace coded i do NOT claim him) he does not approach her. it would be easy for him to do so, but he does not, because he respects her boundaries. colin bridgerton is the only man in the ton who respects women (the featherington sons-in-laws are too pretty to have a thought) he calls out fife and his friends for treating women like objects and calls them cavalier. the only way he would have been more explicit about his demisexuality was if he tap danced on the club table (entertaining thought, luke newton please)
colin also rapidly takes action, something which no one in the show has done so far. simon would have died instead of accepting his feelings for daphne, daphne would have been content with a loveless marriage forever instead of asking for help. kate would have pushed edwina down the aisle and gone off to india instead of confronting her own feelings, and anthony would have married edwina if she hadn't been brave enough for the three of them to run from the altar and ruin herself. penelope stood on the sidelines for years and loved him quietly because she had no hope of him loving her back. colin, the moment he is assured of his feelings, runs to penelope, almost kisses her in the middle of a ballroom. when he hears that debling is about to propose, he goes to the ball, just to dissuade penelope one more time. he cuts into their dance because he's desperate. when he runs after her carriage, he asks her if she has been proposed to, because he would not have touched her otherwise. he confesses his feelings to her only when he knows that she hasn't gotten engaged to debling, and when she says "but we are friends" he moves away. nothing more. he would have let her go, if she did not return his feelings.
idk whether i should be flattered or offended at people misunderstanding this season because on one hand it is offensive, but on the other hand, it means only smart people get polin. seriously. your minds have been rotted by insta-love and enemies to lovers that you can't even appreciate the innate beauty of friends to lovers. being friends with someone and then holding all those feelings for them. the trepidation of possible rejection. the fulfillment of being loved by the person who knows you the best of them all. the privilege of loving someone whose feelings you know better than your own. love is gentle and kind and yes it is a violent, uprooting force but above all, love does not hurt anyone. it does not hurt you. i could love someone quietly for years and it wouldn't bother me if their feelings were requited or not because my feelings are none of their business and i consider it a privilege to love and be loved by them, even if it is not in the way i would want it to be. polin are privileged in the highest sense. they know each other better than anyone else, they know how to love each other better than anyone else. to think they are rushed or they dont deserve each other is a disservice to both of them. they would be miserable with anyone else.
in other matters, if i see one more person talking smack about luke or nicola behind the safety of their screens i will personally get a bazooka.
#bridgerton#polin#bridgerton season 3#colin bridgerton#penelope featherington#colin x penelope#colin my beautiful boy i will avenge you from these dumb people#penelope my sweet girl you are a dumbass but i am rooting for you and the love of your life#also anyone else see that complex female characters on this show are much better written when there's a woman running it?#hmmmm jess brownell you have my respect...for now#long rant but uhhh i am writing a fanfic where i erase the mistakes of cvd (the ghastly man)#the only good thing you did was the casting and i doubt you had a hand in it at ALL#luke newton and nicola coughlan the ACTORS that you are

This is why it is so annoying that Hank Pym was snapped. Its almost like they knew that actually.... Hank was the one who *could have* solved Time Travel. In fact he did: he invented the freaking Quantum Tunnel. He was an expert in quantam physics far surpassing Stark.
If *he* had not been Snapped, they could easily have just gone to him and he would not have placed conditions on helping everyone. There would have been no 5-year-gap either as Scott would have come back from the Quantam Realm sooner.
It might only have been a few weeks with Pym.
But no, sadly the MCU writers are so madly in love with Tony Stark that they could not have Hank Pym, who is as anti-Stark as it gets being the one to save the day.
I agree with everything else though: the ony really consistent with with Stark is that he wanted to glory and fame of being a superhero without any of the responsibility or drawbacks.
Like having to dedicate large amounts of time and money to to the job, or sacrifices. He wanted to be the part-time superhero on his own terms, even if those terms means sacrificing the good of the entire world.
The one thing about Endgame I can’t get past, the one thing that first WandaVision and moreso The Falcon & the Winter Soldier made brutally, abundantly clear, isn’t even Steve’s super shitty ending, it’s that the Avengers made things infinitely worse by reversing the Blip.
It’d be one thing if they’d made the Blip never take place, or restored everyone one millisecond after they disappeared — things they absolutely could have done, by the way — but they didn’t. They brought them all back five years later. It’s insane. It’s sociopathic.
First of all, a lot of people didn’t disappear that day. They died. People who got hit by suddenly driverless cars, people who went down on pilotless airplanes, people skydiving when the instructor disappeared, people whose doctors crumbled to dust mid-surgery, babies who wasted away in their cribs because their parents got Snapped. None of those people got restored in the Reverse Snap. They just stayed dead.
Second of all, everyone got brought back right where they’d disappeared. Which is fine in theory. Except isn’t it pretty lucky no one was sitting in that chair when Monica got restored? And also that apparently no one had moved that chair in five years? So what if you were on a plane that’s no longer in the air? What if you were on a boat that’s no longer in the middle of the ocean? What if you were skydiving and now there’s no parachute? What if you were on the top floor of a building that’s since been demolished? What if you were in your car in the middle of the freaking freeway? That’s thousands more deaths, conservatively.
But forget about all those dead people for a sec. TFatWS makes it explicit that the world is in complete chaos because of the Reverse Snap. People are displaced, families have been torn apart, people are angry and scared and no one knows what to do. It’s so clear that if the Avengers weren’t going to undo the Snap completely — if they weren’t going to undo it at the moment it happened — then they shouldn’t have undone it at all. That it would have been kinder, better to have let the Snapped stay Snapped. Not just for the sake of the people left, but for the people who disappeared.
Imagine the absolute hell of materializing five years in the future to find someone else living in your house, someone else married to your spouse. To find out your baby died or your mom or your partner. And by the way you have no credit, you have no money, no job history, no possessions, nothing. But good luck trying to rebuild your life and all! Aren't you glad we brought you back? You're welcome!
If the MCU ended with Endgame and no one ever had to think about the ramifications, then fine. Whatever. It’s a happy ending. What a cool final battle!
But it didn’t end there. And as such, it’s not a happy ending. It’s deranged. The Avengers are villains.
And it’s just so weird that no one in-universe seems to acknowledge this. That what the Avengers did was bad. That all this chaos, all this suffering, is entirely their fault.
“Yeah, things suck, but I sure do hope Captain America 1.0 is having fun on the moon! Man, we all miss Iron Man!”
W H A T
I don’t know how to deal with that. I don’t know how we, as an audience, are supposed to reconcile with that. I don’t know how they think they can make that decision seem heroic when every subsequent movie and show just makes it retroactively worse.

You know what annoys me most about Endgame (well a lot of things do), but most of all?
The way that it completely ignores what Natasha did. How crucial her actions were to the ultimate victory. Instead they tried to make Endgame into Iron Man 4, and pretend Tony saved everyone singlehandedly. Yet the truth is the plan to reverse the snap would *never have worked* without Natasha's sacrifice.
They had to have all of the stones to snap everybody back- and they also had to have all the Stones to snap Thanos away. Even one missing, and not only would the Snapped have stayed dead, but Thanos would have won a second time.
In truth, it was Natasha who saved the universe and Natasha who ensured ultimate victory against Thanos. Anybody could have snapped Thanos away (it didn't have to be Tony), but few could have paid the ultimate price for the Soul Stone.
In fact: let's talk about the Soul Stone. It was the most difficult and costly of all the Stones to obtain. I read that some theories that the souls of the Snapped were contained in the Stone, and so it was the key to bringing everyne back.
Meaning that Stone was also the one which allowed Thanos and his army to be Snapped away.
So again, it all comes back to Natasha, and her choice on Vormir.
Yet she didn't even get a funeral. The movie just completely ignores her to give Tony all the credit and all the fuss when he actually did very little.
And had to be emotionally blackmailed and tricked to do even that. Natasha was willing every step of the way.

This is pure headcanon.
There's nothing in Avengers 1 or the Hulk movies which suggests Bruce "can control" himself as Hulk, or is in any way conscious or aware of what he does when he Hulks out.
In fact, Age of Ultron even has a scene which establishes that Natasha is the only person who can calm Hulk down with her lullaby, otherwise he is uncontrollable.
youtube
The reason Hulk when on a rampage in AoU was explicitly because Natasha wasn't there to calm him down- that is what the Avengers were relying on.
In Thor Ragnorok, for example, when Thor finds Hulk on a distant planet what is the first thing Hulk does? Attack him. Try to kill him.
Hulk doesn't remember Thor *at all*, despite having worked with him twice at that point.
When he turns back into Banner, he has no idea how much time has passed or how he got to be where he was. And how does he get turned back to Banner? Thor shows him a recording of Natasha.
but they decided "uh no she just showed him his fear this is the same if he had a nightmare (imagine how fun it would be in new york if hulk raged like this after every nightmare that bruce had) this is all completely on stark🙄" like ????
We "decided this" because this is exactly what happened. Not only are we explicitly shown that Tony was already planning to build an AI around the world, but he was acting of his own free will and agency every step of the way.
Tony also knew that the Mind Stone was dangerous. He knew it had mind-bending properties because he's seen Loki use it on his friends a few years earlier. Yet he still chose to take it.
That's why he's blamed- because he is to blame. He is responsible for actions he *chose* to perform. If Tony fans don't like that and chose to make excuses or bad faith comparisons with Hulk, well... that's on them.
The evidence is clear and no amount of crying that he has PTSD or some shit (he doesn't) changes that. In fact... lots of MCU characters have PTSD, but we don't see anybody else using that as a justification for their actions.
we don't blame bruce (rightfully) for what happened in johannesburg, but when it comes to tony he's the only one to blame for "creating the killer-bot".
I don't blame Bruce, but its funny- because Tony fans routinely hold Bucky Barnes responsible for what he did under mind control. There's clearly some crazy double standards going on here.
Tony fans will frequently dismiss Bucky's mind control and torture as if it doesn't count, even though multiple MCU sources tell us he had no control over his actions as The Winter Soldier. Even though we're shown that more than one.
They will still resort to the flimsy excuse of "his body did it therefore his is guilty"- without realizing that on the same basis Tony and Bruce can be held culpable for thier actions too.
I really don't understand people who claim that the vision wanda showed tony didn't affect him in any way...AFTER WE SAW HOW THE SAME MIND TRICK AFFECTED BRUCE AND HOW HARD IT FUCKED HIS MIND
like they seriously saw bruce "I'm-always-angry-but-I-can-totally-control-it-and-keep-the-big-guy-inside" banner goes on a rampage because of the same spell she used on tony (and also, even when hulk comes out, he is not just a stupid monster, he UNDERSTANDS where his enemies are and where are his allies and where are the people he should not hurt. he would never attack a city full of innocent people. and yet we see him losing his mind and doesn't recognize either civilians or an ally in tony)
but they decided "uh no she just showed him his fear this is the same if he had a nightmare (imagine how fun it would be in new york if hulk raged like this after every nightmare that bruce had) this is all completely on stark🙄" like ????
we don't blame bruce (rightfully) for what happened in johannesburg, but when it comes to tony he's the only one to blame for "creating the killer-bot". I mean since wanda is responsible for what happened in Johannesburg I think it's fair to hold her at least half responsible for Ultron.
sorry for rant, but this thought has been with me for a long time and I really wanted to express it to someone. and thanks for all these posts, they are one of the few things that help me stay sane in this brain dead fandom istg
You basically said my whole thought process with the whole thing! He’s definitely not the only one at fault for what happened and I stand by it! He took responsibility for it but so should Wanda she played a bigger hand in it to make it evil with the mind stone of course! I totally agree with everything you said I don’t think I need to add anything else.

You know what I've never really thought about in depth or really just acknowledge at all
Is that my favourite hero as a child was Hawkeye. I fucking love him
Ever since I was little and I watches Earth's Mightiest Hero's (if you've seen that you are a real one) and I loved him
It really annoys me when he gets shit from the fandom for being the useless Avenger because the MCU didn't give him any of his awesome backstory or powers. The make him seem powerless he isn't as completely useless as they make him out to be. He isn't just some guy with a bow.
He has acute sense and pin point vision. He is expert acrobat (from his time in the circus which the didn't reference at all in the MCU) and is a military trained combatant - like Bucky and Steve. He is also a master assassin (which the touched on in the beginning of Endgame and Hawkeye)
Give my boy the respect he deserves! Like I didn't even realised how much I loved him until I remembered that year when I asked my parents to buy me a NERF bow and "arrows" for my birthday one year
How had I forgotten he was my favourite?
My poor purple boy.

Not to fanfic shame anyone but I lowkey wanna know why you would connect magneto to the mcu let it be known that Erik was holocaust survivor and say that his children were apart of a neo-nazi organization only to have him be team iron man and have the fic be anti cap when Tony was the reason his children joined the org in the first place and cap was the one defending his children and helping his daughter.

Kinda ironic that Tommy is a speedster, but is constantly left behind by the people around him (even by Marvel Comics itself)
Like, everyone around him has lifes of their own, his biological parents live separately and it seems like neither of them want Tommy to be actively in their lives.
Even though he calls Wanda "mom" or Billy "brother," neither of them are really family to him, Wanda has her life and her problems, she doesn't act like a mother to him, not even like a mentor, their relationship is good enough but it's not deep.
And even though Billy was the one who supported the theory that the two of them are Wanda's reincarnated twins, after revealing the truth, he has his own things to focus on, Billy has loving biological parents and two real brothers, plus the best boyfriend in the universe, he even goes to space and gets married.
The best thing that Tommy had was the Young Avengers, and I adore them, but I also can't deny that Kate used him to later stay with Eli, and later she uses him again when she is angry at Noh-Varr, and after Children's Crusade when the Young Avengers split up, what Tommy wanted most was for them to stay together.
And what happens when a new Young Avengers line-up begins to form? Tommy is "kidnapped" 💀 My dude is literally left out of the whole adventure that he wanted the most, and he didn't really form any bond with any of the new members other than David.
I ask a sincere question, what friends does Tommy have? Lmaooo, seriously 😭 because David was the only one from what I remember and after they date for a while they break up off the page.
Tommy has never had a stable enough relationship, and everyone he knows has friends or other superhero teams more important than him, Tommy has only been in the Young Avengers and his appearances are so few and short that it's almost as if he's not there.
And since Marvel hates giving my boy time we literally never have a clue what's going on in his head, but let me doubt that after being labeled as the "sociopath" problem boy with no feelings, it literally won't affect him at all 💀 That facade he puts up is literally a defense mechanism, we've seen his real opinions a few times and he's not like that, he does care about his friends, he may not think about things much but when his life is lonely and the world is too slow I think it is impossible to ignore, idk.
I know it's a lot of text but I'm on the path to read all the comics in which Tommy appears, bc I never thought he would interest me so much but he became my favorite character and now I can't stand how Marvel always gives him leftovers.
And maybe what I said doesn't bother him as a character, or in the future my opinion will be proven wrong, but if Marvel never shows us anything about him, all I have to deduce what's going on in his life is the miserable information they give us.

Do you know what part of the MCU makes me really mad?
Listen to this quote:
“I have an equation. In the eight years since Mr. Stark announced himself as Iron Man, the number of known enhanced persons has grown exponentially. And during the same period, the number of potentially world-ending events has risen at a commensurate rate. There may be a causality. Our very strength invites challenge. Challenge incites conflict. And conflict… breeds catastrophe. Oversight… oversight is not an idea that can be dismissed out of hand.”
Basically, it’s saying that the Avengers are causing the earth to keep having these near apocalyptic events. I mean nice theory, but it doesn’t hold up at all.
Correlation does not equal causation. In this case, I would argue that the opposite is true. The existence of these world-ending threats caused the Avengers to exist. In the movie side of marvel, most superheroes aren’t mutants. To the mutants, well just because somebody is a mutant doesn’t mean they are going to fight bad guys. Most mutants were probably happy minding their own business until the fabric of the universe started collapsing.
Non-mutant superheroes, on the other hand, are even more ridiculous. Each of them was a response to a pre-existing world-ending threat. Hydra can now use the tesseract, create Captain America. The ten-rings are killing and kidnapping people, here comes Ironman. Hydra is still trying to take over the world, well here is Wanda and Quicksilver.
Superheroes existence isn’t causing all these crazy-ass threats, all these crazy ass threats are creating superheroes.
Because when evil takes over, people show up to fight back. That’s what we as humans do. And preventing access to human rights for enhanced individuals isn’t going to solve shit.

One claim I often see Tony fans making is that Steve was being selfish for not "considering children born during the Snap" in the team's desire to bring everybody back.
This is obviously a form of emotional blackmail After all- how could *anybody* want to erase *billions* of children?
Well, this claim is wrong for a number of reasons
1: There is no evidence of large-scale births or an increasing birth rate during the Snap. Tony fans often say that there must have been millions and milions of children born during the Snap, but this makes no sense because, as a general rule humans do not simply "get over" losing their entire family an "move on".
Even losing one child can be an emotional blow that person never recovers from. Clint Barton lost all 3 of his children, and we know he did not simply "move on" and start a new family.
People do not simply recover from such things in a few years and create new families. It almost never happens.
Furthermore, population dynamics come to play: some planets lost as much as 3/4 of their population due to Thanos pre-Snap genocides.
Even for those who lost "only" half though this would mean half of all birthing females and existing children snapped.
Fewer birthing females means..... a lower birth rate. Also take account of things like infertility and the fact that some women who lost thier children would have been beyond childbearing age: notable case - Queen Ramonda.
Even assuming people were interested in relationships and reproduction (and most were not) the birth rate during the Snap would have been expontentially lower then it was before.
Real life disasters and catastrophes also reveal that it takes a long time for the population to recover. The Black Death killed 1/3 to 1/2 of the population of Europe in the Middle Ages- and it took something along the lines of 3 to 4 centuries for the population to reach the level that it had been before the plague struck.
Literally: it can take HUNDREDS of years for the population to recover. The idea that the world would have returned to normal after only 5 years is ludicrous.
2: The children killed by the Snap.
Half of the human race were snapped. This would have included children. Potentially hundeds of millions of children were killed by the Snap. This is far more than the number who who have been born during the Snap.
There's another issue however: many children would have died after the Snap.
Sick children whose parents or doctors were snapped and were unable to get the medical treatment they needed
Young children whose parents were snapped would have died within a few days if nobody found them.
Children in poorer countries would have been the first to succumb to things like famines and food shortages caused by the Snap.
However, children in rich countries would have followed. Food shortages and the breakdown of intractructure would have caused problems witht the availability of food and medical supplies. Diseases would have become more common without the medicines to keep them in check, and poor sanitation.
In other words, potentiallly hundreds of millions more children would have died after the Snap in addition to those who had been Snappped.
None of those children would have been bought back by Bruce's Snap in Endgame. They would have stayed dead. All because of Tony's selfish insistence that he "didn't change anything from the last 5 years".
So, no matter how Tony fans want to try and twist things: Tony Stark was quite prepared to sacrifice *hundreds of millions* if not billions of children for the sake of his desire to preserve his personal paradise.
He did not, in fact, "save everybody" at all. He saved only those bought back after the Snap and ... not really even them as they had to contend with years of social and economic problems.
You know what the most interesting irony of it all is though? Tony fucked over all those people for nothing. Pepper was already pregnant before the Snap, so reversing it would not have erased Morgan anyway.

No one wants to talk about how horrendously the MCU has been treating and characterizing Wanda Maximoff since Civil War. And that is largely because the majority of MCU fans are Tony stans and/or have never even read a Wiki page for the 616 or 1610, let alone a comic book.

Thinking about Abigail crying and begging John not to go after Micah, Charles questioning if revenge is what Arthur would have really wanted for them, Sadie second guessing if going after bounties is the right thing for John because of how much he has at stake, John still making it rain bullets on Micah even after Dutch had shot him first.
Did the revenge really make John feel better, after putting everything he'd worked for on the line? Does he know deep down that it wasn't what Arthur would have wanted? I think about it a lot
