Aah, autocorrect. One of the banes of my life. I know just how much of troll that can be indeed, epseically with a new phone. Theres always something you forget to correct until it happens at the most inoperative time.

Anyhow, to the Bestfriend Au. So what I'm about to tell is some stuff I left out last time since it was mostly incomplete or I was unsure if I was allowed to share it to begin with. My friend is still planning out what happens after Kafka becoms sentient and gain a bipedal form to use thanks to Tiny.

He also wants to thank you for the suggestions you'd left last time as it has made that part a bit easier to figure out a baseline on. Which from what I get makes it easier for him to keep track of things as well.

Anyways. First thing first, its mention before that in the Hoshina clans house, Kafka has his own room that he is chained to. Which while not exactly good is far better than you'd think when compared to how his previous living conditions was in the old Science Department.

There, Kafka basically lived in a special cage like room with reinforced walls, floor, celling and viewing window. He had a single blanket, a small area were a drain was and were he did his business, a simple but once again reinforced small door that would open several times a day to give him his food and water. The room was also mostly dark grey with a single lamp on the celling that was on pretty much most of the day, then dimed during the night.

He was also chained, but like by several more since the scientists wasn't taken any big chances, and Kafka even wore special chackles and chains around his legs too which limited his movements. He was also not allowed to go out of this room unless it was for testing. Not even for a simple walk for some fresh air. The closes he got was when they needed to field test him and then he had be in a special transport cage that was not so much different from the one he usually spend his time in.

With the Hoshina though? His new room was very different. Sure the room had to go through some much needed rebuild to actually house something like Kafka. Not to mention that Soshiro's father was not gonna take any chances either so everything was pretty much reinforced as much as possible.

But he found that basically using a dozen chains was a bit too extreme even for him. And lessened it to five, then slowly over the years to that single chain on the special collar Kafka wears. And thuse he can move pretty much all over the room since the chain is long enough for him to do that too. The man even changed the muzzle Kafka wore, as the family head found some featurs on it thats sole use was to cause Kafka unnecessary pain for no reason whatsoever.

The new room also sports a actually dog bed big enough for Kafka to sleep on and pretty comfy too, toys that Kafka can play with even when muzzled as the head understood that Kafka needed something to occupy his attention when not outside of the room. Along with that special bell Kafka would use to warn of a kaiju attack. And a small sandpit where he can dig as much as he wants as it became clear early on that Kafka for some reasons loves to either play in sand or mud.

Soshiro's father took the lesser of two evils on that front. He'd liked to not need to bath Kafka more than necessary thank you very much. Also, the man allows Kafka several daily walks as well around the house. Or when both Kafka and Soshiro got to meet for the first time, being chained to a tree for a few hours a day to allow the hybrid some much needed exercise. Unless the weather was really poor that is.

The family head was also the one who feed Kafka, and the man made sure to include some treats too when Kafka was behaving well or had earned it through training.

Unlike those in the old Science Department, Soshiro's father wasn't heartless nor saw any reason to not give Kafka such things when the hybrid cleary benefit some form of pet like treatment now and then. Not to mention he found them pretty stupid in basically keeping Kafka jailed up 24/7 and leaving the hybrid with next to nothing to keep it occupied.

Soshiro's father definitely would have more common sense than the Science Department. I wouldn't be surprised if Kafka went insane a few times from lack of movement and stimuli. That isn't healthy for anyone.

To answer some Fanfic Questions...

So, this is my response to @broxklynn‘s post... I decided to make this its own post... So that It can be properly answered.

1. How and why did you start to write? Is there some kind of story behind it?

I started writing in general when I was in elementary school... Back when I just had a Platform 9 3/4 journal, not many friends, recess, and a desire to immerse myself in the world of Harry Potter. I enjoyed writing, and even joined the Writer’s Club in High School (but I eventually left to join Anime Club and Divergent Thinking Society). As for writing MCL fanfiction, I began writing Sam’s and Alana’s stories as early as when I first got into the fandom, back in 2013. Alana’s story started out as “A Fresh Start”, had a one shot called “When I Wake”, then turned into “Let The Dawn Be Broken”, and is now “The Melancholy Of Melody Alana Roster”. The final product barely has any hints of the first 3... In fact, Sam’s story, “Fighting Darkness”, has been completely debunked due to what I’ve decided to canonize in “The Melancholy Of Melody Alana Roster”. Writing MCL fanfiction has been a major help in distracting me from the depression that was caused by family issues, severe abuse, Stockholm Syndrome, my mom’s disease and her death, as well as working at several shitty jobs. Writing has helped me escape reality and keep myself sane enough to not be a black hole of hate, anger, and sadness to my friends and boyfriend.

2. What do you struggle the most with your writing?

There are 2 major things I struggle with... 1 is Timing. I often set deadlines for myself that I never meet and it makes me so frustrated that I miss them... There are currently things in my drafts that were meant to be “Holiday Specials” for Valentine’s Day and Halloween 2020 that are still unfinished... It makes me feel like I’m letting my readers down, when its more of me letting myself down... The other thing is Inspiration. Because I hate my job, I often think about Alana’s story in an effort to not be completely consumed by the fact that I do hate my work... Due to that, I often come up with ideas for my story that I think are FANTASTIC for my story... But, by the time I get home, I’m either in too much pain or too tired to write, or I’ve forgotten the ideas...

3. What is your favorite genre to write?

I love writing Romance with a bit of Slice of Life and a hint of Action/Adventure... 

4. Slowburn or “Flame”/PWP?

Slow burn any day.

5. How do you overcome writer’s block?

If I absolutely can’t write... I work on other stuff I need to do... Typically, something around the house, or something online I need to do... I also look for cool stuff to add to wish lists... I’ll occasionally play videogames or read comic books... In an effort to subvert writer’s block, I like having multiple chapters in my drafts at once. If I’m not in the mood to work on one chapter, I can work on a different one.

6. What kind of thing you dislike the most, when reading a fanfiction? (for example: particular plot, grammar mistakes)

One thing that makes me upset (and it makes me madder when I do this) is misspelling... Especially when it looks like its almost blatant... You have autocorrect, USE IT! Or when a fanfic is so awful, yet the author acts like their work is a gift from god... I don’t mind a “bad” fanfiction... Hell, the concept of “My Immortal” is so bad that its hilarious... But Fifty Shades did a lot of damage and E.L. James acts like she’s bigger than Jesus... Seriously, she wrote Twilight fanfiction, changed some minor details and names, people who have no knowledge of BDSM ate it up, and she acts like she’s a “Sex and Relationship Guru”...

7. What’s the biggest issue for you, when writing a Beemoov fanfiction?

The biggest issue for me is finding out when to allow for Beemoov’s writing and placement to take place in my story. I don’t like a lot of the events of UL and LL, so I’m often finding myself in a position where I have to watch video playthroughs and go “Okay, how can I omit this character, but keep this scene?”. I’ve had to do that A LOT with Alexy and Rosalaya.... Although, to a certain extent, I’ll often cut their scenes out altogether. I really hate what Beemoov did to them. They were great characters in HSL, but became utter shit in UL and stayed shit in LL. To make up for Beemoov’s writing style, I’ve created my own characters, added in old characters (like Kentin and Armin), added in bits from the manga (like Viktor, Severina and their fathers), and gone off on my own storyline. The Melancholy Of Melody Alana Roster is close to MCL at times, but often veers off onto its own road.

8. Have you ever created a character based on person in real life? (celebrity, someone that you know, etc)

YES!!! A LOT of characters in my story are based on real people! Alana’s step-father, Nate Films, is closely based on Nathan Fillion. A lot of her family members are based on members of my own family, just changed a bit to fit the story. Lynne Roster, Alana’s mom, is what I had always dreamed my own mom would be... Hell, Alana’s cat, Sylvester, is based on my own childhood cat, Luna.

9. How do you feel about your own characters? Do you think of them as your babies or have rather love-hate relationship with them? (And, do you have favorite one?)

I love most of my characters. I do hate 3 in particular... But, you’re supposed to hate, or at least not respect, them... That’s why I poured my hatred into them... Those 3 are Carol, Kai and Azrael. Carol has aspects of my abuser in her. You’ll see more of her when I finally post the HSL related chapters... And understand what I mean... Kai is based on one of my real life cousins that I’ve not been happy with for years (the one who my bf has deemed “the family failure”). You mainly see him in the Cousin Mels chapters, and in the Christmas Special... Azrael is the one who is seen the most in the UL chapters, and she is a main adversary for Alana. She is the one who broke her the most, the one who ended Alana’s relationship with Nathaniel, the one who truly traumatized her. As for ones I love... The one I love the most is Alana... I know, she’s a reflection of me, so that’s kind of vain... But, she’s a part of me. When I do finish her story and am at the point where I need to say “Goodbye”, it will hurt....

10. Enemies-to-lovers or friends/bestfriends-to lovers?

Definitely friends/best friends to lovers. I also like toying with what happens when best friends turn to lovers, but circumstance parts them and one moves on...

11. Is it easy for you to get inside your character’s head? Can you empathize with them? Is there’s some similarities between you and your main character?

It is VERY easy for me to get into Alana’s head... Like I said in #9, she is a reflection of me. She looks and acts like how I’d like to in a lot of situations... Her life is more interesting, traumatized, and more well off than mine... But, she is still me in major ways...

12. Who has been the biggest supporter of your writing?

Definitely my boyfriend. He doesn’t really understand the game itself... But, he likes how happy it makes me and he respects how much of my heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears that I’ve poured into writing my story. He loves listening to me read passages from it to him while I’m working. He gives me advice and his opinion is highly valued... My family knows I’m writing a large story, and have seen some of the images that I’ve gotten commissioned, but they don’t really know or care about the game. They do respect the fact that I am writing. They love the fact that I’m slightly following in my mom’s footsteps in that regard (she wrote 3 books and several poems). My online friends have been very supportive as well! I’m constantly updating them on what I’ve worked on each day in my Discord Server and the words of encouragement always help.

13. How do you handle criticism?

Not well. Due to the abuse and family issues mentioned in #1, for a good amount of my life, I’ve gotten nothing but harsh criticism... So, now that I’m away from all that, at 26 years old, I’m just now getting to a point where I’m starting to take it better... But, I’ve got a long way to go.

14. Do you like giving your characters trauma? Why/why not?

I hate sounding like a sadist... But, I’m going to anyway, so fuck it... Yes. I have done awful things to Alana over the years. In A Fresh Start, she got sexually assaulted and ostracized. In When I Wake, she gets into a car crash, put into a coma, and in her dream state murdered by Francis in front of Nathaniel. In Let The Dawn Be Broken, the plan was for her to end a war. In “The Melancholy of Melody Alana Roster”, her childhood cat dies, her mom gets sick, she gets abused by Carol, her best friends get ripped away from her for a bit, she gets sent to a country halfway around the world alone, she gets assaulted and ultimately turned into a weapon of mass destruction.... I’ve even thought of killing her mom off at one point... But decided against it...

Now, granted, A Fresh Start and Let The Dawn Be Broken never saw completion, but happy endings were planned for them...

I do this, all while giving Alana happy endings in each story because “If Alana can go through utter hell and make it through, then so can I.”... I know, I’m “god” in that regard and I can control how Alana’s life is.... But, the fact that in my writing, she ends up standing tall, happy, with everything she wants, after everything she goes through does make me feel better.... 

15. Are you proud of yourself? When you look at first piece you wrote and compare it to the latest one?

Yes. If you look at A Fresh Start, you can tell it was written by someone fresh out of High School. There’s no real depth to it. Let The Dawn Be Broken isn’t much better... But, The Melancholy of Melody Alana Roster has become my magnum opus. It is the largest piece I have EVER written, and will probably remain the largest piece I write. I am very proud of what I have created... And when its last word is written, and I am ready to get it made for it’s place on my shelf, I will feel very bittersweet about it... That being said, my original plan for a sequel involving Nathaniel’s and Alana’s daughter, Aurora, has been discarded. I don’t believe Aurora could ever have as much of my heart that her parents do...

And there you have it! Some insight into my world, writing, and history!

it was 1994, the year where the triwaizard tournament was reinstated. fours wizards were chosen to be apart of the triwizard tournament. those four just happened to be, fleur delacour, viktor krum, harry potter and cedric diggory.

prior the triwizard competition, the yule ball was to be held on christmas day. all four wizards were required to bring dates with them as they were to share the first dance of the night together. it was december 23rd and yet denay was awaiting to be asked by cedric diggory to be his companion for the night. cedric had been her first love since third year when they stumbled across in herbology. 

denay was late for the first day of class and was partnered with none other than cedric himself. hufflepuffs were notorious for excelling in herbology and he helped denay excel in herboloby as well.

throughout third year, the pair would often be spotted in the library studying together or chatting amongst themselves. it took denay, days, weeks, months to realized that she was slowly falling in love with cedric. afraid that he didn't share the mutual feeling, she never mentioned it to him and she allowed for their friendship to grow. 

when denay was told that cedric had put his name for the tournament she was devastated. she had known from previous tournaments that many wizards never came out alive from the tasks. 

cedric although was very confident in that he would be fine, and would return as the triwizard champion.

Three friends are in a bar celebrating one of their birthday and there Reader meets Sam.

Chapter 2

You had a horrible week at work, specially a horrible friday. But here you were in a bar club trying to enjoy yourself since it was your bestfriend birthday. She really loved to dance so she wanted to go to a club where she could dance.

Your friends were having a great time while you failed at not thinking in all that bothered you that week, your boss, your clients, your co-workers... You decided it was time for another drink so you went to the bar for something strong. You sat on a stool while you waited for the barman to prepare your drink. You looked at your friends having fun dancing and laughing, you were angry with yourself for being so annoyed. You really liked your job but sometimes it was very difficult, specially when your boss wanted to piss you off or your clients were too demanding... 

- Hey Darling! - a random guy suddenly spoke to you. - Can I invite you for a drink? You looked at him, he was young, may be younger than you, he was quite handsome but you weren't into younger boys. - Hi, no thank you, I've just ordered one. - you answered trying to not sound unpolite.  At that time the barman gave you your drink. You took it thanking him and went to your friends, but the random guy took your hand. - Come on, why don't you come with me?  - You better let me go. - that made you angry. You don't like being touched, specially that way. - Why? We could have a little fun. Seriously, you were not in the mood for that kind of things.  - Look, - you begin getting rid of his hand. - I had a shitty week and I'm flattered you want to hang out with me but, really, I'm not in the mood. - Well, I can help you with that. - he took you from your waist and moved you closer to him. You tried to get away from him but his grip was firm. When he tried to kiss you you could only do one thing, so you did it, you spilled your drink on his face, making him getting away and cursing you. He moved his arms trying to reach and to hit you but because the alcohol got in to his eyes he couldn't see you. His friends suddenly appeared laughing and took him to the bathroom.  You went to the bar once again to leave your empty vase and ask for another drink. When you reached it, the barman had already prepare your drink. You looked at him surprised. - It's on the house. - he said with an smile. - Nice move. - Thanks. He was getting on my nerve. You looked at him with interest, he was older, he had some wrinkles in his forehead, at the corner of his eyes, at first sight you didn't find him attractive but he got your interest. You notice that in his neck there was a tattoo but you couldn't see it clearly. Now you were curious.  He noticed your stare and he chuckle.  - Do you like what you see? - he asked.  - Yes, - for a moment you imagine yourself biting that neck and when you realised you answered without thinking you tried to correct. - I mean hm I'm curious about your tattoo. "For God Sake, Y/N, what are you thinking about? It must be the alcohol...." He chuckle once again and he opened the collar of his shirt, to easily show you his tattoo. "Damn, that collarbone". You really wanted to bite that neck. - If you are good maybe I'l show my other tattoos. - he said teasing you at seeing your face. - What? - that time it was you who chuckled. - Does this really works? - More often that you can imagine. - he winked to you with an smile. You liked his smile.- I think they are waiting for you. - he said looking behind you.You turned around and saw your friends doing some signs to you to go with them. - Well, hum.... - your turned to the barman for to say goodbye but you realise you didn't know his name and you hope he told you. - Sam. - Well, Sam, thanks for the drink. - you checked on him one last time. - Have a good night. Btw, it's Y/N. - Enjoy your night Y/N. When you reach your friends you couldn't help but look him back, hoping he will look your way. But he wasn't, he was doing his job. - What took your so long? - your friend complained - Anyway you missed how... They told you a funny story that just happened but you weren't really listening so you just pretend to laugh.  You danced with your friends but you couldn't help to look one time or another to the bar to see Sam. You wished for crossing his gaze but he was working and he had to attend some customers. You wanted to go there and talk with him. "Damn! What is wrong with you, Y/N? You just met him.. you've drink too much..." Actually it was true, you've just met him, you exchange a few words and you were already fantasizing about him. You didn't find him attrative, at least at the first sight, but there was something that draw you to him. He had some mysterious aura around him. "Damn! Stop it, you are not a teenager!" No, you weren't, you were a grown up woman. And you knew, it wasn't "Love" it was something else. "Ok, you are horny, alcohol makes you horny and he makes you horny..." First step, to admit it. Knowing that, you dediced that tonight you will get into his pants. First, you needed an excuse to go to him, of course, another drink. But.. It was dangerous, you already got 2 drinks and you knew a third one could be disastrous, you didn't want to lose control... specially not in front of him. Asking for a soft drink wasn't an option, he might think you were too... soft and he looked rough, really... rough... sex... "Please, Y/N, focus..." You took so long to decide what to do that one of your friends got you another drink without noticing it. You looked at the bar to see him but, damn! He wasn't there! Where was he? You looked around the bar but you couldn't see him. Was his shift over and went home? - What's wrong with you, Y/N? Are you not enjoying this? - asked your birthday friend when she saw your long face. - Are you still thinking about work? - No, no, it's ok, just a little tired. - you tried to excuse yourself. - I think I'm going to take some fresh air. I'll be right back. You opened the exit door wanting fresh air but the first thing to fill your lungs was smoke. You hated cigarrette smoke, specially when you were drunk, you were ready to throw up when you realise that the focus of that smoke was Sam. He was giving your back so he didn't see you. - Hey! - you said for him to notice you. - Hey! - he turned surprise.  - Taking a break?  - Yup. - he answered while he threw the cigarette. - You don't look good. - Nope.. I think I've drank too much. - you looked at your drink. - I should stop drinking right now, but my friend just bought it for me... Do you want a sip? - I'm not allowed to drink at work. - Oh yes, of course, sorry... You felt stupid. Silence. That made you more stupid. - I should go inside...  - Of course.... - you were disappointed. You had a heavy feeling on your chest. He was keeping his distance, wasn't he? "Oh wait! Maybe he is not into you after all you met him an hour ago, what makes you think that.... Stop! I know where this is going, stop that selfdestroying way of thinkng. You better go inside too and enjoy the night with your friends, after all is one of your bestfriend birthday." At 5AM in the morning you were in the front door of the bar club rubbing your bestfriend back while she was throwing up all the alcohol she drank earlier. Your other friend went home earlier since her boyfriend was waiting for her. You two were the last customers to leave the bar. - Is everything allright? - you heard a voice behind you. You turned to see Sam lighting up a cigarrette. - She drank too much and she is not feeling well. - you explain. - Do you need a ride? Your face lit up. - Do you mind? We are waiting for a taxi from like half an hour ago... and it doesn't look like it will show  - I don't mind. I'm going for the car, wait for me here. In less than 5 minutes Sam was in front of you with his old 4x4. He helped you to get your friend on the back seat and you sat with her. - Did you have fun? - he asked while he drove. - Yes, the place is very nice. And except for that accident the night was perfect. I bet from the other side of the bar the view is pretty diferent. He chuckle. - The view is quite interesting, I dare say. You reached your friend house and while you let your friend in her bed Sam was waiting for you  to get you home smoking. - I think he likes you. - your friend said suddenly while she curled herself in her bed.- Why do you said that? - you asked surprised. - He was staring at you all night. - That doesn't means anything... - That means a lot, go for it, he is hot. You needed to do something, and fast, because you were getting near your house and you couldn't keep giving him wrong indications without being suspicious. Your imagination was in wild mode but you couldn't do this or that... he might think you were a perv. Maybe you were. And it was time to show the world.... He suddenly stoped the car and looked at you a little annoyed. - Are you going to tell me your add... But he couldn't finish his question, you took him by surprise, joining your lips to his. He tried to get away from you but you didn't let him. Sauce Bad

Last summer I signed up for an online dating app. This particular app has a strong affiliation with bees. On this app the female is to make the first move when a match is made.

So one day as I was looking through all the many suitors in my area and came across a handsome blonde. For the sake of the story let's call him Brad. Brad seemed to have the usual profile, you know the one with all the fitness pictures. The only thing he was missing was the picture if him holding a fish. Anyway Brade seemed decent enough so I liked his profile. Almost instantly we matched and I sent him a "hey, how's it going?" message. Brad responded instantly and the conversation flowed from there.

The text were fairly normal. We'd talk about our interests and hobbies. I did notice that Brad had a difficult time with autocorrect and his responses didn't always make sense. For example one day I told him about my job and he responded with "that's sauce bad". Now I didn't want to make him feel embarrassed by the type so I did what any other girl would do. I took a screen shot and sent it to my bestfriend. We had a good laugh and sauce bad became part of our everyday vocabulary.

About a week had passed and Brad insisted we meet for coffee. At the time I had two jobs and not a lot of freetime. He decided he would bring me a coffee during my lunch break at work. I decided that would be ok since I had my own office and in the event he was nuts, we'd be in a public place.

Brad takes my order and arrives at my office. He looks very similar to his profile and seems just as nice as he did over text. We share an awkward hug and I ask him to sit. He does so and hands me my drink. Steeped tea, two milks from Tim Horton's. I see that he has also brought a drink for himself but the cip was from McDonald's. I ask if he had to go to two separate locations. He's response was the first red flag.

He told me that the McDonald's cup was of a coffee he'd gotten the other day and had left it in his car. He just decided to drink it cold...

I tried to move on with the conversation and asked him what he did for a living. He told me that he had a serious motor cycle accident the year before and had pretty bad brain damage so he was focusing on recovering. In this moment my stomach dropped and I realized that his typos were not due to autocorrect but rather drain trauma. I felt guilty for laughing at the sauce bad situation.

Brad then moved on and told me what he was looking for in a partner. He told me he was recently divorced and his ex wife had broke his heart. Brad is my age, which at the time was 23. So he has a brain injury and a divorce that he now won't stop talking about.

I sensed the conversation was looping in a never ending story of why his wife left him so I decided to end it. I thanked him for the tea and talked him to my door. He smiled and walked out of sight.

An hour had passed and I received a message from Brad ask about the next time we were going to meet up. I knew there was not going to be a next time and didn't want to lead him on. I told him I didn't feel a connection and that there wouldn't be another coffee date. He pleaded with me to give him a second chance or at least be his friend. At this point the desperation was apparent and I told him I had enough friends and wasn't looking for more. He continued to come up with ways we could form a platonic relationship until I unmatched him.
