Chaos! I think I remember you saying you’re from the South? Are you safe from the storms that’s coming through?
My beloved anon 🖤✨
Why yes, I live in the South! Chaos is safe for now just a lot of rainfall. Some parts of our connecting interstate was ruined by flooding so that’s insane. People don’t understand just how powerful water can be. 👀
Just waiting on what Milton gonna do. 👩🏽💻
#thanks for the check in#everyone be safe#if local authorities are warning you to evacuate don’t be dumb#chaos is okay#so much love#thanks anon!#thanks for the ask!

18z hurricane regional models are showing sub-910hPa peaks for Milton. If a storm even half that intense were to land north of Tampa Bay, it would represent essentially the worst-case scenario for a US hurricane landfall, with the potential for destruction of infrastructure comparable to or exceeding storms like Helene, Ian, Harvey, and Katrina.
#local and county authorities should be making mass evacuation plans right now#property damage may be unavoidable but lives can be saved with proper communication

tonight (eating takeout direct from the container, in a huge sweater and socks at my kitchen island, with a single rose in a wine bottle instead of a vase) I fear I was written by a man depicting Sad Single Early 30s Woman in cinema (except I’m not sad, I’m gearing up to edit my manuscript before one of my favorite authors reads it)
#Sana things#and the author thing is bc of a book auction donating the help families evacuate Gaza#a big fan of my artistic passion and my American guilt/dollars coinciding#pls send me good vibes tho bc im in a bidding war and might bankrupt myself for this

my friends who are NOT anime watchers are making me rewatch attack on titan which I'd stopped watching after the first season finished airing - holy shit that was almost ten years ago - even though I was fully on the hype train, but you gotta understand, I was literally 15 at the time. anyways im rewatching it and 1) what a slog. the rhythm is downright atrocious during the missions and when it wants to "subtly" hammer a point the dialogues are embarrassing. entire episodes consisting of the same convo repeated almost verbatim by three different characters. holy shit. and also 2) yikes. not worrying at all to have a main character whose single defining characteristic is his undying will to exterminate monstrous human-shaped beings that may or may not be a tool in the hands of a minority of mysterious powerful individuals to control The People, which are stupid and self-serving by the way, leaving only the army as the only ethically viable faction. as I said, yikes. where is this going.
#still tackling s1 this is going to be long#incredibly ive managed to avoid most big spoilers#also im only aware of the external controversy surrounding the author so no clue about any internal ones.#im still not over mikasa threatening to kill a guy because he was blocking an evacuation girl just shove him or smth#and especially not over her almost killing another guy because he was about to leave from a failing mission#attack on titan

Thought I would share this here. Image is a clickable link that will take you to the account that posted it! ID has now been corrected, and is in alt text. It is also below, please excuse the redundancy:
—
Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee (EWOC) tweeted: “No one can make you stay in an unsafe worksite. Close up and walk out with your coworkers until management or nature fixes the problem. Contact us for help.”
EWOC quoted their own tweet and added, “If your boss won’t let you evacuate: Convince as many coworkers as you can to all leave together & contact us right away. You have the right to organize & leave an unsafe worksite. If they’re not bluffing & still try to fire you after the storm, we’ll help you fight it.”
Attached to the OP is a meme of a skeleton marching away, titled “Just walk out - you can leave!” It lists, “wildfire smoke, hurricane, flooding, no heat, powers out, no water, tornado warning, AC broke, weird fumes.” Bottom text reads, “Climate sucks… hit da bricks!” Overlaid is the meme’s author, “@/organizeworkers.”
End ID.

if there is one thing i do not fuck around with it is hurricane misinformation/fear-mongering <3 that's what being a born-and-raised gulf coast floridian who developed OCD after the 2004 hurricane season gets ya, baybee
#and you may think im joking but im not... i genuinely am like. at this point 90% sure that was what kicked off my OCD lol#my first obsessions/compulsions were all weather-related <333 shout-out to frances and jeanne for mentally scarring me :D#txt#just v frustrating to see soooo many ppl screaming even at inland ppl to evacuate. like. bitch Where? WHY? if u dont live here & have never#experienced this then please be quiet lol. local authorities are actively telling ppl to hunker down if they safely can in most places#bc the people who ACTUALLY NEED TO EVACUATE cannot get gas. or hotels. or move anywhere on the highways. like it's so bad#pls just let us handle this..... u can be concerned and it's very much needed bc this storm is going to be devastating for us but like.#stop fucking fear-mongering when u have zero experience or knowledge in any of this lol

How to help the people in Spain
As you may have seen online, Spain is going through a flash flood since October 29. It's mainly affected the Community of Valencia but also some parts of the south-west and the cold drop is now moving to the north-east.
95 bodies have been found at the time I'm writing this (edit: 205 now), there's still people missing and entire towns are isolated as they don't have electricity and their roads have been destroyed. A lot of people don't have tap water or any means to cook. If you're wondering why people didn't evacuate beforehand, it's because authorities didn't care enough to warn people so technically everyone had to go to work and school. Though politicians should be held accountable, the most important thing at the moment is to help those in need. So here's some ways you can help both people and animals that have been affected.
NGOs and fundraisers
MOST NEEDED AT THE MOMENT: You can donate to Valencia's food bank by making a transfer to this bank account: ES86 2100 2806 6402 0009 8998.
Horta Sud is a county in Valencia that has been the most affected by the floodings. People are leaving their houses because they're scared of the infrastructure getting damaged and even walking by foot to Valencia capital to get food. You can help those families via this gofundme.
Hambre Cero is a Spanish non-profit that was founded after the earthquakes in Indonesia. They will be giving food to those who need it. Here's different ways you can donate.
This gofundme is joining efforts with the town hall of Valencia to help people who have lost their homes.
Una copa por Valencia ("a drink to Valencia") is a campaign organized by Spanish influencer David Aliagas. The idea behind it is to donate the amount of money you would spend on drinks on a night out. He'll be joining effort with local non-profits. You can help here.
Here's a thread of artists that are accepting commissions in exchange for donations for Valencia.
Spanish Kpop fans are organizing a collective fundraiser.
EDIT: took Cáritas and Spanish Red Cross out of this post after this tiktok made by a volunteer went viral and a lot of people posted their experiences working for these NGOs. Apparently they're not distributing food. Instead they're telling people not to send more food and send money instead so they can keep part of it.
Help people directly
Help Sara, Steven and Bruno rebuild their home in Valencia.
Help this high school teacher buy a new car to get back to work.
Raúl was about to open his barbershop on October 31 but it was destroyed by the flood. Please help him get his dream back.
Help the neighbours of Aldaia (Valencia) rebuild their homes.
This artist has been affected by the floods and lost their car. They've opened emergency commissions.
You can help rebuild the town of Letur (Albacete) by donating to this gofundme that's directly coordinated with the town hall.
Rebeca is a seamstress. Her studio was both her workplace and a place were came together for a sewing club in the afternoons. It was destroyed by the flood. You can help her rebuild it here
Animal shelters
Refugio Minipow was home to 50 rabbits and guinea pigs. Thankfully, the owners were able to move all the animals to their homes and those of their neighbors, though the shelter itself has been destroyed right after recent renovations. There's different ways to donate here.
El Refugio de María a dog shelter in Sueca (Valencia), is completely flooded, leaving the dogs visibly distressed, as shown here. You can donate to PayPal [email protected]
Modepran is a dog shelter in Campanar (Valencia) where infrastructure damage has left some dogs without a proper sleeping area. You can donate through PayPal here.
Gatos Campo de Gibraltar is a cat shelter in Los Barrios (Cádiz). need of assistance for relocating cats to new homes and rebuilding damaged facilities. You can donate to their PayPal [email protected]
Protectora San Antón is an animal shelter for cats and dogs in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz). The entire place is flooded and the animals don't have a comfortable place to sleep in. Cats can't even walk on the ground. You can donate to their PayPal [email protected]
I'll be adding more as I find them. Thank you everyone for your help.
Edit: adding this because I keep seeing people on Twitter and Tiktok say it makes no sense to give money to people in a "first world" country. I need you people to understand that living in a western country doesn't equal politicians caring about you.
This whole thing started because politicians weren't doing their job and they're still not doing it. People (literal civilians, not firefighters or policemen) are literally pulling bodies from under cars and putting them inside the trunks so children in the affected areas don't see them. There's underground parkings still flooded by water and we don't know how many people may be inside them.
France offered to send us 200 firemen and the Ministry of Interior literally REFUSED. Some of these French firemen came on their own anyway. But that's what our politicians are doing. Negating help and pointing fingers at each other so they don't seem guilty.

My grandmother Naifa al-Sawada was born in June 1932. A beautiful girl with blue eyes, she was the only daughter to her parents. They were originally from Gaza but moved to nearby Bir al-Saba, where Naifa’s father Rizq worked as a merchant. She did well at school and in 1947 obtained the necessary certificate from the British – then the rulers of Palestine – to attend university. She did not do so, however. Her father was fearful about what could happen to her at a time when war in Palestine appeared imminent. At a young age, she married my grandfather Salman al-Nawaty and went to live in Gaza. Between 1947 and 1949, Zionist forces expelled approximately 800,000 Palestinians from their homes. Among those directly affected by the Nakba – Arabic for catastrophe – were Naifa’s own parents, who fled their home in Bir al-Saba for Gaza. Having witnessed the Nakba, Naifa encouraged her own children to defend Palestine. Naifa gave birth to four girls and six boys.Like so many mothers in Gaza, she experienced great loss. Her son Moataz went missing while traveling to Jerusalem in 1982. It is still not known what happened to him. Another son Moheeb, a journalist, left Palestine for Norway in 2007. Three years later he traveled to Syria. In January 2011, he went missing. The Syrian authorities subsequently confirmed to the Norwegian diplomatic service that he was imprisoned. But he has not been allowed to contact his family. We do not know his current whereabouts or even if he is alive or dead. My grandmother witnessed the first intifada from 1987 and 1993. On the streets around her, youngsters with stones and slingshots rose up against armed Israeli soldiers in tanks and military jeeps. During that time, her son Moheeb – the aforementioned journalist – was held for more than a year without charge or trial. That infamous practice is called administrative detention. My grandmother lived close to al-Shifa, Gaza’s largest hospital. She took great care of arranging everything in her home with her delicate hands. She used those same hands to comb her hair into braids. She memorized the Quran and took great interest in the education of her children and grandchildren. On 21 March this year, Israeli troops broke into my grandmother’s home. The soldiers displayed immense brutality. They ordered the women in our family to evacuate on foot and arrested the men. They would not allow the women to take my grandmother, who had Alzheimer’s disease, with them. The soldiers claimed that my grandmother would be safe. That was a lie. The invasion of my grandmother’s house took place amid Israel’s siege on al-Shifa hospital. My grandmother’s house was destroyed during that siege and she was killed. Her remains were found days after the Israeli troops eventually withdrew from the hospital earlier this month. She was killed – alone – in the same house where she had lived since 1955. We do not know if she suffered or if she died quickly. We do know that she was older than Israel’s merciless occupation.

Dear My friends and Supporters❤️✌️,
I want to begin by expressing my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you🥹❤️. Your kindness and generosity have allowed me to reach my initial goal of 3,000€, which will help me continue my education and indeed it has helped me to pay my tuition fees for my university registration THANK YOU FROM MY DEEP OF MY HEART😭🙏. Words can hardly capture the impact this has had on me, and I am forever grateful.
,But Today At This Moment, I come to you with a matter of life-or death request that is even closer to my heart🙏🥹🤍. While I am pursuing a brighter future, my family remains in Gaza, facing the ongoing challenges and dangers from bombing and killing😭 that have become part of their daily lives. The weight of knowing they are still there, while I am working to secure my future, is a heavy burden to carry.
I humbly ask for your support once more🙏🙏😭— I know i’m asking too much 🥹not for myself this time, but for my family. I want nothing more than to bring them to safety, away from the uncertainty and hardships they endure. I dream of a day when they, too, can live in peace with me, without fear or struggle, please, please 🙏Do Not stop sharing or reblogging🙏🥹
Your contributions will go directly toward helping me reunite with them and provide them with the safe and secure life that every family deserves😢. Please know that any support you offer, whether it be through donations or simply sharing this campaign, brings me closer to this goal.
I am not asking for me—I am asking for my family, who are waiting for the same chance I’ve been given. I hope you can find it in your hearts to help us one more time. Thank you for continuing to believe in our journey, and for not forgetting those still in need, With heartfelt appreciation to each one of you 🥹❤️

Hi! Just wanna raise some awareness here because South America is on fucking fire and I need to see more people talking about this.
Source: RSOE EDIS x
Im just going to talk about the ones i'm closest to, but if you know about these fires, feel free to add in the reblogs!
Chile
In Chile there's (up to Feb 5) 160 wild fires, of which 40 are still trying to be controlled by authorities. The president, Gabriel Boric, has declared State of Emergency in the whole country, and theres a Red Alert Code in most part of the country.
Isla de Chiloé, Southern Chile (900 km away from Santiago de Chile)
This is a (recently controlled) fire that lasted a week, but many neighborhoods were burnt to the ground.
The whole South is in red alert for constant sudden fires that spread quickly due to the lack of rain and the elevated temperatues in the zone. Just today, two fires had to be controlled in the main land next to this island, and more are being reported in the Los Lagos region. This is added to the "controlled" intentional fires that farmers make to clean their fields of old crops along the Central-South parts of the country, mostly surrunding the main route, Ruta 5, that connects the whole country, thus making it hard to see and breathe because of the smoke. (flashnews, most of them get out of control quickly.)
Valparaiso/Viña del Mar, Central Chile (100 km away from Santiago de Chile)
A fire that started on Friday 2nd and grew exponentially because of the wind and the dry, hot climate. More than 100 people are dead, with 70 unrecognized bodies and other 400 that have dissapeared. At least 30000 people that have lost everything to the fire.
There's massive evacuations from this and the neighboring city, Viña Del Mar.
This is said to be the second most deadly fire in the century, surpased by Australia in 2009.
45000+ hectares that include land and neighborhoods have been burnt down.
I could go on about this one, so more info here and here
Argentina
Parque Los Alerces (Esquel), Chubut
The fire strarted on the 25th January, and the climate has made it hard to contain. 3000 hectares of native forest have been burnt to teh ground. It is now growing in the direction of the nearest city, Esquel. Theres been evacuations between yesterday and today (4 and 5th Febuary)
Parque Nahuel Huapi (Bariloche), Río Negro
The reason why im writing this. The city woke up today covered in smoke after a wildfire developed yesterday during the night. The reason? A fireplace that was not turned off in a place where people cannot disembark and can only be reached via boats.
As of now, there's not much information about the fire but hopefully the firefighters will be able to contain it before it reaches Tronador Mountain, where an ancient glaciar is.
...which leads me to the other point i wanted to talk about.
Firefighters
They volunteer to do this job.
In Argentina and Chile, firefighting is not rewarded with a salary, and most of the times they dont even have full firehouses to stay in. These people are at their houses, ready to jump into action and run to the station the second the alarm goes off.
They are neighbors, people that risk their lives and run into danger willingly, just because they want to help the community.
I felt the need to give a shout-out to these people and say:
Don't be a fucking dick, don't start fires in the woods unless it's an approved place, and if you do, TURN IT OFF.
Pour abundant water on it, and do not stop when you don't see any more flames.
Keep pouring water until the ashes don't burn/feel like room temperature in your hand if you put it 10 cm away from it, and even then, pour some more just to be sure.
No heat and no smoke mean a safely extinguished fire.
Save lives and forests.
#dont even get me started on the denial of climate change from my president#didnt wanna get political here#argentina#chile#argieposting#argieblr#soff speaks#wildfires

TMA COMMISSIONS FOR GAZA
What is TMA Commissions For Gaza?
You can get small TMA commissions (a little drawing or short fanfic) in exchange for donating to 1 of 10 Gofundme's of Palestinians in Gaza (starting May 17th)
There are about 60 artists signed up already who have volunteered to work for free for this to happen. Until May 16th, you can join too!
The project is fanmade and has no connection to Rusty Quill
Our carrd: https://magnusforgaza.carrd.co/ Everything else under the cut ↓
How can I commission?
Here's a detailed How To Commission guide.
In a nutshell: 1: Donate to one of the 10 gofundme's. (any amount) 2: Fill out the commission form and describe what art you want! 3: And now we wait. We don't know how many commissions each artist will take on so please be patient💚
Guidelines for artists:
Here's a post with guidelines for artists and authors.
Here's the post that explains the process from sign up to sending the commission to the person who requested it.
Where does the money go?
We, the organizers and artists of TMA commissions for Gaza, gain no money from this. We ask participants to donate to 1 of these 10 Gofundme's by Gazans who are trying to survive and evacuate Gaza. 5 of these Gofundmes are on the Operation Olive Branch list and the other 5 are friends and family of one of our organizers. The funds are needed for expenses such as medical care, food and first and foremost to pay for crossing the border to Egypt.
Why only 10 Gofundme's?
We hope to be more effective when focusing on just a small number of Gofundme's and not for example the whole Operation Olive Branch list. Providing a smaller number of places to donate to may also help donators to not get overwhelmed by the amount of people who need their help. If you have any questions, send us a message here on Tumblr!

URGENT – campaign 2/3 complete
(this campaign has been directly verified by el-shab-hussein)
news reports say that the rafah crossing might re-open soon with the palestinian authority managing it. its being discussed in talks right now how to push this forward. fahed @fahedshehab-new said hes heard news it may be sometime this month.
the problem is they havent raised enough money to register all of their family members to evacuate to egypt. fahed reached out to me asking me to help boost his campaign so they can get enough money in time because this could be the only chance for his family to escape this genocide. we dont know exactly when the rafah border will open or how long it will be open for. its really important that they complete their campaign– can you imagine being in situation where you might have to decide which of your own family members should have to stay behind to live in unbearable conditions- possibly to their deaths? no one should have to make that decision
they also have raised €33,355 out of a goal of €50,000, which is about 2/3rds of the way complete already. weve seen a lot of fundraisers get their goals met through tumblr recently (thank you everyone for participating) and i really think we can also get this one to 50k.
please donate, and if you cant share this with someone who can
€33,355 raised of €50,000

Interactive Fiction Community Raffle for Palestine!
Over 50 authors and artists from the Interactive Fiction community here on tumblr have come together to offer an array of prizes for a focused donation drive! We are aiming to raise as much money as possible for five families who are currently trying to evacuate Gaza. These fundraisers have been vetted by @/el-shab-hussein and @/nabulsi (thank you for your hard work!)
RULES:
You MUST donate a minimum of €5/$5 USD to one of these five fundraisers to qualify for a ticket. These are the currencies the GFMs are in (3 in euro, 2 in USD). We chose this amount because it is the minimum GFM allows and we are hoping to encourage as many donations as possible. Please be mindful that GFM does not show the conversion rate if you're donating outside your currency.
Donating once to all five GFMs will get you five tickets. And for each extra 5 you donate, you will get an extra ticket. (ie donating 10 to one GFM gets you 2 tickets, 15 gets you 3, etc.)
There are two tiers we will be pulling prizes from: one tier for writing, and one tier for art. When you submit your proof of donation, you will be asked to specify which tier you want your ticket to go towards. If you are submitting for more than one ticket, you will specify the tiers for each ticket-- you can spread them out between both tiers or put them all towards one.
You will be required to share a receipt/proof of donation via uploading a picture through google forms. We will not be handling any money. You are donating directly to the GFMs, and then showing us proof that you have done so. Please include the GFM and the amount you've donated in the screenshot you upload. We are only taking donations starting from June 7th onward.
We plan to raffle off all possible prizes using a random generator. Once the drive concludes on the 21st, we'll take a few days to gather up & organize the tickets and draw names, and then we will be in touch with winners both on tumblr and via email.
You can find the full list of contributors and prizes here.
Please understand that these prizes are pulled blind and assigned at random. You cannot pick or choose which writer/IF or artist you get. It is completely randomized. You get what you get-- even if you aren't familiar with the writer or their game. Artists and authors also have the right to refuse your request at their discretion. Please be respectful and remember that our main goal and focus here is fundraising for these families.
Abdullah Mohammed and his family
Mohammed Bardaweel and his family
Bilal Salah's family
Suad and her family
Firas Salem and his family
We encourage you to share these families and their fundraisers here and elsewhere. We're hoping by focusing our efforts we can really make a big impact for all of them.
