notes: as an atiny on tumblr.com, i feel like it's a rite of passage to read moc. it's one of the best written works i have had the privilege of reading. it's gripping, it's heartbreaking, it's filled with yearning and love, and has you hoping that the characters survive this ordeal. san i love you most you can tell by the masterlist alone that she has crafted a whole space pirate universe intricately and with the utmost care. she deals with the trauma of the characters so so well and i cant lie ive cried a lot reading it jdhdksjddj, it's the fic that made me start reading ateez ff, i mean, i started reading before even knowing ateez and i had to have a separate tab open to remember who was who. that alone can tell you how much of a work of art this is. omg, im blabbering, but please read this.

my notes: im not too sure how i came across this work, i think it was an endless scroll of me trying to find something to read, but nevertheless, this story. i have not finished it yet (a great and utter pity) but from what ive read so far. im actually very concerned on how much ive read of this in one night 😨, i think the plot is so so unique, i love a strong mc who does not take any shit whatsoever, i love gaslighting demon!ateez 🙂‍↕️. i had to stare at the wall several times while reading,, felt like jim in the office truly. UGH it's just so good??? i can't recommend enough!! PLEASE READ.

my notes: i first discovered this fic on ao3 and somehow found out lauren had a tumblr blog but i digress – i found this one night and was so excited that i found something so so unique and different and i am pretty sure i didn't sleep until 4am reading everything omg . it's truly so funny and i adore the main character more than anything, the snide remarks truly encompass and make you feel their emotions? cult leader hongjoong is something else... without spoiling hfjdjf. i beg lauren often for a spoiler because it's just that good. please read.

my notes: tokki already knows all of this but,,, i started this a month or so ago? and i read the first chapter and i legit lost my mind,,, in the calmest way possible... the first chapter is gripping and it sets a environment that i very much would love to live in??? it's just so so well written, and the reader is very much my type NDFAKKJ ANYWAY... it's told from the pov of wooyoung and i love it??? so MUCH?? please read ok bye

If enough people report, the fanfiction site admins will finally listen and take down the plagiarised book, instead of the plagiarism claim being buried.

I hope this issue gets resolved quickly and I hope you have a better day.

UPDATE! Based on this and that and also this.

Thank you, anon. I appreciate your words, but as I stated in one of my previous posts, Wattpad reports are finicky. I believe at this point, we're at day thirteen of dealing with this plagiarizer and day four of it being public and yet despite it all, the plagiarizer has still yet to budge.

So, I thought I'd give another update and give the information we discovered in our findings. As to what we know is copied and from who. Keep in mind, one of these four copies stories has already been taken down and done with. I'll specify which in a moment.

Before I proceed, if you happen to be one of the original writers mentioned in this post and you want your portion removed from this post for whatever reason, let me know. I do not want to upset anyone, except the plagiarizer. At this point in time, I care little for their feelings on the matter when they've had plenty of time to make things right.

The plagiarizer: Kristynaka1

FIRST.

Obviously, the first story that was discovered was mine, with all the information linked in the posts at the very top. I was made aware of this by the inbox from a kind reader. Ever since then, I've been dealing with this plagiarizer.

My mutuals and I found it weird that somehow, the plagiarizer had relatively good grammar with few mistakes in the story. Yet every little note or message they sent, had many spelling mistakes and was sometimes difficult to read. It was inconsistent and strange, and we couldn't make sense of it until we had a theory which some readers in the comments here have already suggested. We theorize that the plagiarizer began to use AI.

Of course, we can't prove this but how else would a user who can't format and type proper messages be able to write whole paragraphs that are actually legible and understandable?

ChatGPT was available to the public sometime in 2022. Before 2022, many of their "stories" were copy and pastes from Tumblr. After 2022, there were differences in the copied stories that made it harder to find the original story and connect it to the original writer. Differences in writing that I doubt the plagiarizer wrote themselves if we go by their messages like:

So yeah. Onto the evidence.

SECOND.

After a few days, one of my mutuals began to suggest searching for the origins of other stories as they doubted any of the posts belonged to the plagiarizer. Low and behold, we found three others. The first of which belonged to @monst and their post. Just by comparing the first paragraph was enough to confirm that.

I won't go into too much detail as the links pretty much say all you need when you actually look at the evidence.

THIRD.

Not even an hour later, we found the second copied story from that oneshot book. Thankfully, there were only two stories there, so there aren't any more copied parts from that series they claim is theirs. The original is @ppsycho and their post. This one again looks like a direct copy, even the image is the same.

FOURTH.

This is the one that was already deleted, thankfully. So there is not many good screenshots I can present, except one before it was gone. So the original writer is @mint-yooxgi and their post.

Here is the only screenshot I have of the wattpad version, just to showcase that it did in fact exist, and it was copied.

So yeah, that's everything for now. If you check out the plagiarizer's profile and recognize the other stories I did not name, please let me know. We thought we found one of them on Quotev, but it wasn't.

I think I'll leave this off with something I typed last night in a chat:

In whatever way this ends, know that it will end badly for the plagiarizer. They can choose to ignore, but that won't make everything go away. People will remember, I will remember. If they go radio silent and try to forget everything but keep the stories up, comments will still be there. If they try to delete the comments, new comments will just be made. The comments will serve as warnings to others that might stumble across their account, and it will immediately make them click off the account or story because no one wants to read a plagiarized story. The account we see now will just be empty of real readers, so it will remain a miserable little place where each comment will serve as a reminder as to why plagiarism is bad.

Even if they do decide to delete and make another account yet again, whether they decide to copy the same stories they did before or pick entirely new writers to prey upon, it doesn't matter. Readers will either recognize them from before or new readers will notice the plagiarism taking place. It doesn't matter what they do. They will be found and dealt with in some way, shape, or form.

I hope those two or so years of small internet fame were worth it while they lasted.

“And the return on my stocks-” your date was droning on, and you dip your head to take a sip of your water to cover your yawn.

You have no idea why you continue to try to date in this city. In your personal experience, there were only three outcomes from such excursions.

One was the scenario you currently find yourself in; a boring, pretentious date who just wanted to talk about money, politics, his most recent car purchase. Too full of themselves to even ask a single question about you without having to volunteer anything on your own.

The second was the overly eager, handsy types that were a little too interested in you, but for all the wrong reasons. Your last date had asked what color panties you’d worn ‘for him’ as the waitress tried not to drop the salad into your lap.

And of course, there was the third. The dates that started well, they seemed very interested in you as well as being interesting themselves. Enough to make you let down your guard, but not enough to have you escaping out a bathroom window.

Yet this third category was pure chaos for you, and not in a fun way. Between finding out the guy has a girlfriend by the approach of a second date, or they turn into the complete opposite of what they represented during the date….

At least the first two were up front about what they were. Dating has just become boring, annoying, lame.

Between your work life draining you six days a week, and little to no social life, it was soul sucking when you had to listen to some suit drone on about the cost of his designer socks.

So here you found yourself, struggling through another boring meal, smiling and nodding along with a bombardment of information you will forget the moment you walk out the door.

Sighing, you look up at the night sky, wondering if there is more to life than this monotony.

Declining the shared cab with your date, you bid him goodbye and decided to take the long route to your apartment.

The park was quiet, the surrounding trees muffling the busy sounds of the city behind you.

Stopping to appreciate the plush green grass, you slip off your shoes to leave the path and let your bare feet sink into the cool blades.

There was a small clearing with a beautiful tree that you’d always longed to read a book under, if only you could find the time.

The urge to just go sit underneath it right this very moment hits you hard and before you realize it, your legs are moving on their own.

“It won’t hurt anything if I just take a moment…” you find yourself saying, blinking lazily as the sunlight cuts through the leaves over your head.

“So pretty…” you hum before it suddenly hits you.

Sunlight? It was night time….

The sound of rushing water plays in your ears as you spin around, shoes still dangling off your fingers. “What the f-” you whisper under your breath, taking in the terrain around you.

“We’re not in Kansas anymore…” you hum mindlessly as your brain tries to process where you are. For some reason, you can hear your granny’s cackle in your mind as you let out a weary sigh.

“Stumbled across a faery ring, did ya?”

“Oh Gran…” you sigh, shaking your head.

Folklore and fairytales, but she’d always warned you.

“It’s a dream, I just fell asleep in the park.” You shrug, not really believing it as you turn to look up at the midday sky, and the lush green plains that appeared to end in a rocky drop off in the distance.

“Well…this is better than my stuffy date.” you snort, marching along the mossy earth to the edge of a wide stream. Rocks jutted out on either side, and the pleasant trickle of water sounds like music to your ears.

A few moments pass before you hear the tinkling laughter of what sounds like children, eyes widening as three creatures leap across the stream.

Their giggles sound like delicate windchimes as they call to a fourth figure, a low voice calling out what can only be obscenities, though none you’ve ever heard before.

“Not so funny when it’s you, eh?!” a childlike voice rings out as the laughter trails off, leaving the soft sounds of the stream behind as you study the now still being.

At first you only take in his form, the lean figure seemingly sulking at the edge of the water.

He…the creature definitely looks as if it’s a male at first glance. The sound of the voice as well is deep and rich enough to be considered masculine.

You finally take a look around the little area he’d brought you to. It appears to be within the trunk of a massive tree, and you’re in a sheltered area deep within the trunk. It’s quite cozy and you just hum happily as you tease your fingers over his chest, tweaking one of his nipples.

“I can’t leave now, you claimed me, yadda yadda.” you toss out, shrugging a shoulder as he blinks at you.

“Yet you-” he just stares at you in disbelief. “Why would you…?”

You let out a sigh, looking at him with a simple smile.

“Well, I suppose my life back home is pretty boring and tiring. And well…” you rake your gaze over his gorgeous form.

“I’m just a sucker for fairy dick?”

His laughter delights you as he pulls you tight against him.

“Pixie. I’m a pixie.” he tells you, pressing a kiss to your forehead.

“I thought pixies were like…” you hold your finger and thumb about two inches apart and he looks at you sheepishly.

“Well…so you see ... .funny story…” he says, blushing.

Raising an eyebrow, you settle your chin on his chest as you await his answer.

“I normally am about that.” He takes your fingers and kisses them.

“A trick was played on me and well…” he shrugs, motioning to himself.

“Human sized pixie.”

“Well…that’s going to be an interesting dynamic when you change back…”

“Perhaps it’s a trick I don’t wish to fix.” He whispers, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.

“Is that even possible?” you ask him, curious. You should be concerned, thinking about what your life is going to be like now.

Yet somehow, you just can’t find it within yourself to plan everything out like you did before.

“I suppose we’ll find out, love.” he hums, tracing his fingers along your back.

“Felix.” you murmur, smiling in delight as his pretty lips curl up to flash that sharp fang once more.

Life has suddenly become exciting, dangerously fun and not knowing what is coming next thrills you more than you ever expected.

You hadn’t seen Chris in a while, the man had said he would be back soon but a few days had passed and still, not a word. You don’t worry though, because Chris always comes back. You stand up, rushing to the door to find your dark-haired boyfriend standing on the other side with a lazy smile on his lips. “Miss me?” He says as if he wasn’t late and that he hadn’t made you stay up nearly all night wondering where he was.

“Where were you?” You whine, letting him into the house and immediately being wrapped up in his arms, a reassuring hug helping you relax and ease any worries you had. “I thought you died.”

“Ah, so dramatic,” he teases as he presses a kiss to your forehead before pulling away, showing that smirk that always seems to cause you to blush slightly. No matter what, you always blush. “C’mon, I didn’t have service to call you but everything is ready.” You want to ask more but from the way that Chris shakes his head, you should have known he wasn’t going to tell you anything more.

He does this, a lot. He would prepare something and good luck getting anything else out of him other than that he was taking you somewhere and that’s it. Road trips, that was his thing. Road trips out to the middle of nowhere, a cabin in the woods, camping or just a late night drive, it always depended on his thoughts and mood. If he wanted to see a view and it wasn’t too far to drive, it was a late-night drive with snacks and a blanket for you to use so you could sleep on the way back. If he wanted to see the stars and just spend time out in nature, he’s got a tent and everything you’ll need for a weekend in the woods. The cabin was when he just wanted to escape with you, no one but you. Chris used it when he found himself overwhelmed by everything around him and while he would never admit any of that, you figured that out fairly quickly.

Chris can be very complex to some people but for you, he was easy to read because you’re the first person in a long time he has allowed to see deeper underneath the surface. He’s not the guy who managed to finish high school because he dropped out, he’s not someone who works a fancy job but he makes enough to support the lifestyle he lives, he doesn’t drive the flashiest car or own anything that screams that he has money but he gives you everything that he could possibly afford and works hard to make sure you are never embarrassed by him.

Not that you would ever be embarrassed but it’s something he quietly fears.

Chris is rough around the surface, he doesn’t care about what anyone says, honestly, he doesn’t care about anyone at all but when it comes to you – he cares more than he’ll openly admit. He knows your parents have said things because he looks like trouble and while Chris usually would show people just how much trouble he can cause – he tries his best to please your parents. He’s respectful, he’s quiet and he always helps where he can. He can’t change his nature, who he is, but he tries to show a softer side for you and those around you so that you never have to worry about the future.

Because he wants that. A future. With you.

A hand is offered, a smile on his face that gives him a youthful expression in comparison to the frown he wears whenever you aren’t around, and you quickly take his hand to follow him to the car. He held your bag in his other hand and didn’t let you go until he reached for the door handle. “Where are we going?” You ask as he opens the door for you, in an attempt to get something more out of him but silence is all that you’re met with. Pouting and petty, you get into the car and fold your arms over your chest. “Fine. Don’t tell me.”

He only chuckles, amused by your cute pout and faux anger, as Chris places your bag in the back seat before climbing into the car. Connecting his phone to the Bluetooth device and passing it to you, he begins the trip into the unknown with some soft tunes chosen by his designated road trip partner and unofficial car jockey. “Get some sleep,” he says after driving for a short while, “I’ll wake you when we get there.”

He looks at you, curled up and comfortable in the front seat with his hoodie as a blanket; sometimes, Chris can’t really believe how he managed to catch you, how he managed to be the one that stole your heart and love, but he’s happy. You really changed his life in so many ways that you don’t even realise it and he can’t imagine what life would be like without you anymore. “Hey,” he chuckles when you scrunch up your nose and shake your head, not wanting to be woken up. “C’mon baby girl.” He doesn’t even allow you to wake up, just picking you up while you protest slightly and carries you inside.

As he walks, you slightly wake up but you don’t really know where you are right now, your brain not at all registering anything because it’s far too early and Chris doesn’t allow you to wake up enough to notice the decor either. Placing you in the bed, he closes the door before climbing in next to you, wrapping you up in his arms and pulling you close. It’s in his warm arms that you are dragged back to sleep and it’s in his warm arms that you wake up to the sun peeking in through the window a few hours later. “Chris,” you speak slowly, brain still trying to wake up and he only hums, letting you know that he’s awake. “Are we at the cabin?” You faintly manage to see the trees outside through the white mesh curtains.

“Mm,” he responds, before rolling onto his back. “I just needed some time.” You move so that you are cuddled back into his side and he chuckles. “It’s okay baby girl, I’ve just had something on my mind and being here with you helps that.”

You wonder what he means but even as you look up at him, Chris just smiles and moves slightly so he can kiss you softly. A kiss to distract your thoughts, to keep you from worrying and it works, the kiss manages to pull you in, keep you from asking more questions as Chris quickly manages to roll you onto your back and hover over you. He pulls away though, resting his weight on his forearms as he looks down at you and brushes some hair off your forehead and you can see the adoration in his eyes. You’ve been catching him looking at you like that a lot lately, as if you are the sun and the moon. Everything that is good in the world, Chris finds that in you.

“You’re beautiful.” He says suddenly and you blush without meaning to which makes him lean in and kiss your cheeks. “I love you.” Ah, what a way to have your heart race.

“Why are you being so loving?” You don’t mind it, in fact, him showering you in love like this is something you always appreciate because it’s rare. It’s not like Chris doesn’t show you every single day that he loves you but this form of love - words to reassure rather than the every day actions that have become a normal part of your day - always takes you by surprise.

Raising an eyebrow, Chris pulls away, “what can’t I give you my love and affection?” He slowly moves away and you whine, pulling him back and wrapping your legs around him to keep him from leaving. “You were just complaining before.”

“No, I’m sorry, give me more.” You pout until Chris relents and kisses you.

It feels like hours pass before are apart but it’s only a matter of moments before Chris finally pulls away completely to get out of the bed, rolling his neck to the side so it’ll crack and indicating with his head for you to get up. You take a little longer so he goes on ahead, suddenly quiet, which isn’t unusual for him so you don’t notice the way he starts to chew the inside of his cheek or how he’s looking around the cabin as if trying to find something out of place as he makes his exit.

He’s been preparing for this for a while, this road trip, he’s been making arrangements for it to be perfect and he’s sure something will go wrong but even if everything went terribly wrong - as long as one thing went right, he’ll take it.

“You coming?” He calls out, noticing that you never actually followed him when he finally reaches the kitchen. “Or are you going to trust me to cook?” He looks in the fridge, searching for something, before closing it when he hears your feet rushing down the hallway.

“Don’t! I love you but please… don’t.”

“Ouch,” he laughs and shrugs, not really caring too much because he knows that he can’t cook and would ruin, absolutely ruin everything if he tried. “I’ll get the fire started.” He kisses your forehead before taking his leave and running his fingers through his hair as he looks over his shoulder at you.

Any second now.

Or… longer…

“Baby girl?” He calls out when the fire is going and he hasn’t heard anything from you while doing it. “You okay?” He walks into the kitchen and realises why you’ve been so quiet. “Shit.” That’s the only word that leaves his lips as he rushes to your side and pulls you up and over to the sink, “why didn’t you say something? What happened?”

Silence.

“Hey,” he runs your hand under the sink, a light sting pulling you out of your thoughts, “what happened?”

“Yes.”

“What?”

“I’m sorry, I don’t know where it went after I dropped it but yes.”

It takes him a moment to realise what you are talking about because he’s worried about your bleeding hand but it finally clicks and his eyes widen. “Fuck. Really?” You nod, tears welling up and you can’t really figure out if its from the pain or happiness. Chris is about to kiss you until he remembers that you’re bleeding. “Ah, right… let’s get you cleaned up first then I’ll look for it when I clean up the mess.”

“You put it in the eggs?” You said and he nods, slightly embarrassed.

“You always make pancakes whenever we’re here so I thought it was… yknow…” He’s regretting everything right now - he wanted to make this special, memorable, and he hated every minute of the cheesy proposal but he doesn’t regret your smile that’s on your face. “What?”

“You’re cute.” Chris rolls his eyes and inspects the wound before leaving to get the first aid kit. “Hey, I was talking to you!” You shout after him but don’t dare move and risk getting blood everywhere. “When did you become so cute, baby?” He doesn’t answer so you keep asking, keep annoying him until he’s bandaging your hand. “I thought you would have passed me a ring and said ‘here’ when you finally decided to pop the question.”

He snorts and nods slightly as he confirms this, “I was gonna but when I explained it to Changbin, he told me I was an idiot.”

“Was Changbin the one who came up with this?”

“No. That was me but… it wasn’t meant to go like this. You were meant to see it and not be holding glass in your hand when doing so.”

You scoff, the teasing accusatory tone making you poke your tongue at him. “Well, next time, don’t surprise me in places where breakable or sharp objects happen to be.” Chris groans as he finishes securing the bandage and cleans up the first aid kit. He’s happy you accepted, he’s happy that you want to spend the rest of your life with him too but… he could have done it all without you getting injured. “Stop pouting,” you lift your good hand to touch his cheek and he stops what he’s doing to take the moment to enjoy your touch. “It’s just a small cut and wouldn’t it be a fun little story to tell when people ask how you proposed.”

“Can’t you just lie and say that you only dropped the eggs instead of the glass?”

Shaking your head, you giggle, “that’s the whole beauty of the proposal. I nearly lost the ring because I was in such shock.” You don’t notice Chris’ expression as you laugh, hand over your mouth as he stands up and goes to tidy everything up. His silence, however normal it is, is unsettling in this particular moment. “Why aren’t you finding it amusing? It’s funny.”

“You did.”

“Huh?”

“Baby girl, you did lose the ring.” You jump up, rushing past him in a whirlwind and muttering ‘no’ under your breath as you look for the pretty diamond ring amongst the shatter glass. “It’s okay, it’s probably under the fridge or something.” He doesn’t sound too upset by it even if he knows that was a lot of his recent paychecks to buy. Chris just looks at the mess on the ground, the mixture of eggs and glass, and you gingerly trying to search through it with your good hand. “Get off the ground, you’ll get injured even more and I’d rather not spend our first day as an engaged couple taking you to the ER.”

Now it’s your turn to pout as he pulls you off the ground. “But, but…”

“I’ll find it.” He reassures you before brushing your hair off your forehead and sends you to the living area. “Go, sit down, I’ll clean up and find it then put it on your finger.”

It took some time, more time than Chris thought it would to clean up the combination of egg and glass but he did it eventually and he managed to find the ring, thankfully, even though he had to give it a good clean since it was covered in egg. Walking into the living area where you were curled up on the couch watching TV, Chris got down on one knee and takes your hand, instantly stealing your attention.

“Let me do this properly and please, don’t drop it this time.” He teases as slides the ring onto your finger. “Will you marry me?”

Even though he already had his answer, he needs to hear it again, he needs to hear that you want to spend the rest of your lives together while you have the ring on your finger. “Yes.” You smile, pulling him close and kissing him, “nothing would make me happier.”
