“Y/n! I’m so sorry, baby! I know I’m late!” Boyfriend!Chan frantically spoke as he greeted you at the cafe you both had agreed to meet at for lunch. He was late again for the sixth time this week and you couldn’t help but feel a little upset. You were about to get up from your table to leave before you saw Chan running through the cafe doors. “Sorry, I was going to leave the studio earlier but then I got this idea for this new song! And I-” “Chan.” You interrupted him, your voice quiet and serious. “I’ve been waiting for almost two hours.” “You have? Shit. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to take so long,” Chan slowly sat down across from you. “You could’ve at least texted me.” “I know. I’m sorry. I just got so excited and into the music that I forgot,” he spoke as he nervously played with his hands across the table. “I know,” you sighed “I know how excited and happy you get when you write music, but this is the sixth time this week. I would just appreciate it if next time you let me know.” You carefully took Chan’s hands into yours. “I will. I promise. I don’t like it when you’re mad at me,” he looked down sheepishly. You laughed lightly, “I’m not mad at you, silly. I could never be mad at you.” You gently swept a stray piece of wavy blonde hair out of his face, and cupped his soft cheek with your hand. He happily nuzzled his face closer to your palm, his eyes closing peacefully. He looked like a cute little puppy and you couldn’t help but fall deeper in love with him. “I love you too much to be mad at you, Channie.” You leaned across the table and gave him a soft kiss on the lips. “I love you too, y/n” he grinned. “Now, tell me more about this new song!” You spoke, causing him to perk up immediately. His eyes sparkled as he smiled widely at you.

you and chan had been friends basically since you were babies

your parents were friends way before either of you were born, so naturally you two had many play dates together

once middle school rolled around, you still hung out some but not nearly as much as you did when you were younger

each of you started to develop your own personalities and form your own friend groups

by the time high school approached, you barely spoke to each other

you were busy focusing on your schoolwork and he was busy focusing on his social life

there’s nothing wrong with that, you just were trying your hardest to get into one of the best universities in the country so you didn’t have much time for a social life

there were a few times when chan would come sit with you in the library during lunch

you preferred to eat there because it was quieter and you could focus on your work

it was very rare that he’d sit with you, though

typically only when he came in alone to print a paper

you hated when he came in with his friends

they would be so loud, disturbing everyone in the room

you would pull out your headphones to hopefully blast out the noise with music

looking up at the group of boys you’d notice chan looking at you

he’d give you a soft smile, as if to say sorry for his friends

that was basically the extent of your interactions throughout high school

of course there were the combined family dinners your parents forced you both to attend, but you didn’t really talk much

in all honesty, you didn’t have much in common that you knew of

you didn’t talk enough to know if you had anything in common

you didn’t mind sitting across from him at the table though

even if you didn’t have anything to talk about, his face wasn’t that bad to look at

however, you felt weird thinking of him like that

you’d literally known each other since you were babies

so you just kept those feelings to yourself

soon enough graduation came and everyone had to announce where they were going to university

you didn’t even have to wait to find out what school chan was going to because your parents rushed into your bedroom one night excited to tell you that you two would be attending the same university

both your parents and his kind of got out of hand with the whole idea of their kids going to the same school

they planned a joint graduation party for you two

it was held in chan’s backyard and the whole place was decked out in the colors of your university

of course your entire family came and a few of your close friends

but the majority of the guests were chan’s friends

which basically meant the whole school was there

once the party was over and you were helping clean up, your parents told you and chan that they found a perfect apartment near your university that they’d already decided to rent for you both to live in

“what? i already told one of my friends that i’d look for an apartment with him!” chan said

it almost made you feel kind of bad

you didn’t want him to have to feel like he had to live with you

you weren’t dumb, college was where boys brought girls back to their apartments and you didn’t want to get in the way of that

people would probably think you’re dating or something if they knew you were living together

“yeah, i was just planning on getting a place for myself so..” you said

but both of your parents refused to accept either of your pleas

and within the next two months, you were moved in together

the place was nice

there was a large entry room with your and chan’s bedrooms on either side

this led into the living room which was attached to the kitchen

at first it was kind of awkward because you hadn’t really spoken since middle school

it took a little while but eventually you started reminiscing about stories from when you were younger together and started to get somewhat close again

not close enough to tell each other everything, though

one night you couldn’t sleep so you went into the kitchen and sat on one of the bar stools, spooning ice cream into your mouth

you heard the front door slam shut, causing you to jump

chan walked into the kitchen and grabbed himself a water, about to exit and make his way to his room

“hey” you said

he stopped and turned around, leaning up against the wall, “hey. what are you doing still up? don’t you have an early class tomorrow?”

“couldn’t sleep” you responded

he hummed in response and nodded his head

just as he was about to turn to leave you asked, “where were you? it’s pretty late”

you didn’t want to seem nosy

you were just genuinely curious

he’d been staying out pretty late these past few nights and his mom made you promise to look out for him

“i was on a date” he said, kind of awkwardly, fiddling with this water bottle

“oh” you said

you know your voice sounded like you were disappointed

it’s not that you were upset that he went on a date

you were happy for him

but something deep down stung a little bit

“i hope it went well” you continued, quickly putting the ice cream back into the freezer and your spoon in the sink

you glided past him and made your way to your room

before you shut your door, you chimed out a “goodnight” then tried to go to sleep yet again

chan was left standing in the kitchen, wondering what just happened

he sighed and made his way to his room, as well

why did you hurry to your room?

he ran his hands through his hair, trying to get rid of his thoughts and got ready for bed

the days following, you couldn’t help but see chan differently

you’d catch yourself watching him as he made his breakfast

taking peeks at him doing his homework at the dining table

as much as you wanted to deny it, you think your school girl crush from waaay long ago was coming back

living with him showed you a different side of him

like how he would get some of your favorite snacks when he would take a quick trip to the store

and sometimes if you fell asleep on the couch while up late studying, you’d wake up with a blanket over you

small things like that which made you look at him differently than you did before

but there’s no way you’d ever tell him that

he’s a hot shot with all the girls, he wouldn’t bat an eye at you

his childhood best friend and now roommate

one night a few weeks later, you knew chan would be out on a date with the same person

(you assumed they were his significant other, they were hanging out all the time)

you decided to go out to get some take out to eat away your feelings for him

you were walking into the apartment, fumbling with your keys and of course the huge bag of food that was just about to fall out of your arms

before the bag fell, you felt someone grab it from you

you looked up to see chan standing with a smile on his face

flustered you said, “oh hey, i uh..i thought you had a date tonight?”

he laughed and made his way to the kitchen to set down the take out

“yeah, i did, but i don’t think things are going to work out”

“oh,” you said. “i’m sorry”

there was a slightly awkward silence for a moment

you looked down at your shoes not knowing exactly what to say

“i have a bunch of food, if you want to join me. i definitely got more than i can eat by myself” you said to him whilst messing with the top of the bag

about an hour later, you two were sitting at the dining room table laughing about how you were as kids and eating happily

your laughter died down and at that point you were just picking at your food, already full

“you know i used to have the hugest crush on you” chan said out of the blue

your head shot up, looking at him spinning his chopsticks in his hand

you didn’t know what to say, so you just stayed silent

waiting for him to continue

“maybe that’s why i kind of ran away from you, i guess. i was nervous” he chuckled slightly

you gave him a confused look

why would he be nervous of you?

“hey, don’t give me that look! you were so focused on school and i just thought you were so intelligent and amazing..i was intimidated”

you were shocked, “intimidated? by me?? that’s the funniest thing i’ve heard in a while”

he laughed, “seriously, though, i really did like you”

there was a moment of silence before you said, “did?”

“huh?” he responded

you looked back down at your food, his gaze making you nervous

“you said that you did like me..so..not anymore?”

the was another moment of silence

“honestly…i don’t think i ever stopped” he said

you could feel your face heating up

“really?” you asked, looking up at him

“yeah, i was just going out with that person to distract me from having to live with you, i think. it’s hard walking around here, always seeing you and you not knowing how i feel”

your face began to heat up even more

“well,” you said. “can this be considered our first date then?”

chan laughed, “of course, but only if you let me take you out for a second date”

“i think there will be plenty more” you said

It would be about how he feels bc he doesn’t want to fight and he’s tired but he’s trying really hard and he appreciates you so much even when you guys do argue

He would want everything to be solved though he wouldn’t leave anything unsaid for you to just find out in a song or something hes not that kind of guy

He’d let you know how he feels and if he didn’t know how to tell you, then he’d made the song and show it to you but i dont think he’d use that kind of song in a stray kids album anyway

Basically he loves you to the universe and bacK

but definitely struggles with balancing work life and social life

you’re gonna have to convince him some days to stop working for his own health

but you’d definitely have to compromise with him on some things with his work

like if he has to pull an all-nighter

you might be passed out on the chair next to him

but just to tease him sometimes you give him a lil smooch on his cheek while you’re around the members and they all just either go “ooooooouuuuu” or “Ewwwwww” while he turns a little red

i really think he’s a loving peck kiss kind of guy and just peppers you everywhere with kisses

but when it’s intense

like say it’s been a while since you’ve seen each other and he’s feelin a lil hornay u know
