210k words. The 50 female-focused "blip" years Lucifer's finale conveniently left out, also several post-S6 chapters. Heavy angst surrounding family and spiritual trauma but aims to be cathartic by acknowledging pain. All that said, more humor and Deckerstar than you'd probably expect, given the CW tags.

Rebound to You

12k words. Feel-good, funny, sexy AU where Lucifer is still the Devil, but he and Chloe didn't meet as in canon. Instead, they meet a couple of years later, after Lucifer has naturally gotten a phone and Chloe has divorced Dan and is now resorting to dating apps to meet people. Features a fun gimmick of Tinder-like chat logs (used sparingly, I promise).

Something More & Pump It Up

11k words when read together. These two canon compliant fics won't seem like they go together at first, but I promise they do (thematically). Both are pre-canon and about the subtle ways in which Lucifer and Chloe are an amusingly great match. They just haven't met (yet) to know it! The first story is sweet and about Jed and Chloe's relationship; basically a character study of Chloe as told from Jed's POV. The second is a bit of a sex farce about Lucifer watching Hot Tub High School after settling in L.A., but it's also porn with plot or at least a character study.

Not to Mii

10k words. Lucifer sticks around at the end of S3's "The Last Heartbreak." One thing leads to another, and you get strip Mario Kart. I promise it works.

The Fine Line Between Desire and Fear

10k words. Feel-good and silly post-5A divergence featuring a haunted mansion on Halloween. Almost solely Deckerstar-focused but also imagines a future where Michael is trying to redeem himself and earn Ella's affection; the only problem is that he's afraid...of a lot, actually. The irony!

Sweet and Sour

10k words. A comical Michael/Ella fic based on the 5A trailer. Turned out to be rather in-character for many aspects of Michael, so it holds up, I think.

Now That's What I Call Big Devil Energy! Series: Big Devil Energy & Satan's Got a Heart On

9k words when read together. Funny, sweet chaos. Lucifer being a completely over-the-top Devil in love.

What made you fall in love with Gallavich?

I started watching Shameless because my sister was binging it on Netflix and I thought it looked interesting. Gallavich took me by surprise because at first, they were not on my radar. I knew Ian was involved in a popular gay ship but they weren’t the reason I started watching. My interest for them started picking up during S3 when they began to further develop Mickey’s character. And then I watched S4 and suddenly Mickey was my favorite character on the show and the Gallavich brainrot became strong lol. At the time, they were also one of the most developed gay ships I knew about.

How long have you been a fan?

I started binging the show when S7 was first originally airing. So…*looks it up* since 2016. Damn. I believe 7x08 was the first episode I watched live. I saw the border scene in real time and it broke me lol. As much as I complain about seasons 10 and 11, it is still amazing to me that there was a time where I didn’t think Gallavich would be endgame and now they’re canonically married.

Favourite Gallavich moment/scene?

The wedding scene. Just all of it. It was so validating to see Ian and Mickey get married after all the shit the show threw at them lol.

Favourite Shameless character apart from Ian and Mickey?

Fiona!!! I think she was a beautifully complex character and Gallavich was the only reason I kept watching after she was gone lol. Her absence was still highly noticed though imo.

I also think Lip is one of the better-written characters but my feelings on him as a person are complicated lmao.

Favourite type of Gallavich fics?

When it comes to Gallavich specifically I really dig canon divergence and full on AU’s. With how long their canon history is, there’s so many different twists and outcomes that could have changed how things went for them, and I find ideas like that very fun to explore. They’re also one of the few ships I have where I think they can fit really well in most popular AU settings.

I am an angst lover though, so angst with a happy ending is my ultimate favorite trope. Not just with Gallavich but with fic in general. I’ll occasionally read and enjoy a fluffy one-shot but when it comes to multi-chapters, there usually has to be some angst for me to be fully engaged lmao.

Favourite Gallavich quote?

For Mickey: “Ian, what you and I have makes me free.”

For Ian: “I wanna be where you are, Mickey.”

I think both of those quotes just sums up what the other means to them so well.

Okay, disclaimer: This is not an x reader. I’m sorry! I just really liked this 5 +1 idea but I couldn’t figure out how to make it work and I really really really just have baby boy on the brain. I will be adding the main three Bridgerton boys to the request list as well, but only for the show. Below the cut will be the summary and more info! Thank you so much for reading!

Masterlist

This fic takes place in the show timeline, not the books, since I am only two books in and also wanted to use the Marina plot. However this is an AU where Penelope is not in love with Colin. Takes place basically when S3 will be, during the marriage season following Kate and Anthony’s wedding.  This will actually be 14 parts. I cranked out a prologue and all six moments for Colin and intend to write the OC POV but it will take a while since I only got this out today bc it’s the holiday and therefore I did not have class.

Summary: After his heartbreak over Marina Thompson and a wonderful trip abroad, Colin Bridgerton is finally starting to get his feet back under him. And when a new lady debuts on the marriage market, he may be ready to give love another chance.

Warnings: One mention of parental death. Spoilers for Bridgerton on Netflix. But other than that, none. Fluffy fluff and just softness all around. I am a Benedict girly at heart (maybe. I say that, but I may be converted) but I do want to offer some love for this sweet boy.

Prologue:

“Have you all heard the news?”

“Oh no.” Benedict groaned when Riley took his seat with the brothers at White’s. “I do not care about whatever gossip you have heard about the debutantes.”

“Not even that there is a new one?” Riley joked. “Present by one of your acquaintances from what I’ve heard. Sir Henry Granville and his wife’s new ward.” Benedict raised his eyebrow. 

“Alright. I’m listening.”

“Apparently her father was Sir Granville’s cousin, passed away last year. Bad heart.” Riley explained. “And her mother died of consumption when she was young. So they took her in. Her parents had been rearing her for the marriage mart. And now that the grieving period has ended…”

“The girl’s father passed away last year and now she’s being pushed into the marriage mart?” Benedict asked. “That doesn’t sound like the Granville’s.”

“The girl has already pushed her debut back quite a bit. I believe she is twenty.” Riley waved their shock away. “She can’t wait forever.”

“Kate was twenty-two.” Benedict pointed out. 

“Do not patronize me, Bridgerton, I know your brother did not exactly propose.”

“Anthony loves Kate. As do we, so watch your tongue.” Colin snapped. 

“Alright. Alright. The point still stands that twenty is older than average for a debut. Just as twenty-nine is a tad old for a proposal.” Benedict rolled his eyes. That was a no. He was grateful to Granville, but he did not think he could be a member of his family and not let something slip. Colin was the one who actually mustered up a response. 

“Thank you for the information, Riley. If our mother ever runs out of gossip with which to entertain us, we will know just where to go.

Cassidy (OC) POV: Word Count 382

“So.” Lucy smiled at Cassidy as they settled into the parlor. “It is time to discuss your desires before we go to tonight’s ball.”

“What do you mean?”

“I must know what men to steer you towards and away from.” Lucy explained. “So, I suppose my first question is this- do you desire a love match, or would you be content with a marriage of convenience, of friendship.”

“I- I would like to marry for love. If I can.” She admitted. “But why does that matter?”

“There are men who have no interest in such a match, and therefore they are not worth our time. And, of course, some men who can not give you that.” Cassidy nodded in understanding. They had revealed the nature of their marriage to her, not wanting any secrets between them. She had offered more acceptance and grace than they had expected. She was a sweet girl. “So, what sort of man do you wish to marry?” Cassidy tilted her head in thought. 

“That’s a complicated question.”

“I suppose it is.” Lucy laughed. “Then what do you wish to avoid? What is an absolute requirement?”

“Well…he has to love music. Or at the very least like it.” Cassidy stated. “I’ve always imagined myself playing the piano for my husband on quiet nights.” Lucy smiled softly. “And I want him to enjoy being outside. And travel.” She sat up. “I must marry a man who enjoys travel and will take me with him.” Lucy laughed. 

“You seem to know what you want more than you thought.” She observed. “What about his humor?” She asked lightly. “Do you want him to be impertinent and joke like you? Or would you prefer a serious man to balance you out?” 

“Maybe not quite as impertinent.” Cassidy admitted. “But he must be willing to indulge me.” Lucy nodded sagely. 

“It is very important for a husband to indulge his wife.” She agreed. “How else would I have gotten you that beautiful gown for the night?” She giggled. “So. A traveler, who likes music, and nature. And who has a sense of humor that may occasionally offend some of the more stately members of the ‘ton.” Already, a list was forming in her mind. “I believe we can find a man like that.”

Despite a strike-filled quarter in the Western world, I still found very little anime suitable to my tastes. I must accept that, like how Vtubees and Holothingies dominate the conversations these days, that the industry has moved on without me! (not that I really care…). But boy, is it hard to write a season preview when it’s the norm for shows to have a screwed-up production schedule to the point where they spillover into the following cour (here’s looking at you, Zombie show…)

Why am I watching so much stuff instead of doing something productive with my time?

*record scratch* "Wait, it's been how long since Origins?!"

Hey guys, you ever remember that Miraculous Ladybug keeps insisting it's been less than a year since the show began?

I don't know if that reference has been made yet in Season 4, but it CERTAINLY was made in S3, when they were in the Museum with Alya showing off the painting app and pondering about how Miraculous heroes had been around for thousands of years.

So, let's but this timeline into perspective, yeah?

We have one (1) Christmas special, which is set completely apart from the rest of the show (On Netflix at least, it's its own seperate listing) so just like the New York and Shanghai Specials, it's not canon and not part of the canon timeline.

Each season so far had 26 episodes each, so we're going to assume Season 4 will be the same way, giving the show 104 episodes, not including the non-canon specials, and of course, we would need to subtract all the AU episodes from this order, but I'm too lazy to do that math and track them all down. Let's just say take away 2 episodes, Chat Blanc and Ephemeral or whatever it's called, haven't seen it yet.

We now have 102 episodes (probably less) that are set in the canon timeline.

And all of these 102 episodes take place over the span of "a few months". Since there's (usually) one Akuma per episode, lets simplify that down to 1 episode = 1 day, because while most episodes take place over the course of more than a single day, the show INSISTS that it's "only been a few months" and even doing 1 episode is 2 days (204 days or around 7 months) means they'd already be nearing the end of the school year, which they're clearly not.

Anyways. Accepting that each episode is ""one day"" means the show takes place over the span of around 4 months, maybe a little bit longer to account for the multi-day spanning episodes.

Which really brings Adrien's entitlement into the spot light, doesn't it?

They've only been Miraculous wielder's for a few months, total, including the time since the new heroes joined the roster AND since Marinette became Guardian.

So. Let's split that the natural way, and say Marinette and Adrien were the sole heroes for around 2 months before Marinette met Fu and brought Alya in as the first Temporary Hero in "The Sapotis".

One Temporary Hero quickly became two, then three, then four, and beyond, until Team Miraculous was a proper, fully-rostered Super Team, which from the episodes I haven't even seen yet, they're STILL adding new heroes to!

So, by this math, Adrien and Marinette were a Super Duo for 2 months, and for the next 2 months until "current time", it's been another 2 months.

unless the show is going to insist that all the new heroes debued within the span of a week (I wouldn't put it past them), then at this point Adrien and Marinette worked "alone together" for a shorter time than they've had a team at their disposal.

By the show's own insistance that the show takes place over "only a few months" they're just... Destroying any credibility they're trying to leverage with the show's timeline vs the shows RUNTIME.

The show is banking on it's viewers thinking of Adrien and Marinette's partnership as a years-long partnership, instead of "they only worked together for a few weeks before new people came in", and thus they're shooting themselves in the foot for the sake of the status quo.

They have Adrien throwing temper tantrums, destroying people's homes, trying to murder Alya, *refusing* to show up to fights, and lambasting Marinette for "replacing" him.... When they only worked together for 2 months tops before new people heroes came in and more than that, heroes that actually cared about their responsibilites as heroes and the fact that it is a sacred duty, not a right.

Adrien was already not showing up to fights before now; he was already sabotaging fights before now. He was already instigating akuma attacks before now. but now, the show wants you to still be on his side and support him as he deliberately endangers literally every single person in Paris by REFUSING to show up to fights and DELIBERATELY trying to get someone akumatized so he can harass Marinette in the suit some more.

TL;DR: by Miraculous Ladybug Canon's own insistance, the show only takes places over 4-ish months, and thus Adrien is deliberately endangering people because he feels like he's getting replaced even though they only worked together alone for a few weeks, during which he constantly goofed off, endangered people, and proved unreliable, and is now deliberately going out of his way to endanger people and start the magical terrorist attacks, just so he can spend time harassing his partner and still proving over and over again he's a reliability more than a hero.

July 1: 2x25 Bread and Circuses

Today, the Classic ep, Bread and Circuses aka Star Trek: Ancient Rome AU.

Literally all of the bridge is just standing around, watching Kirk, watching Spock.

Another missing ship hmm? The S.S. Beagle. With a crew of 47--that’s small. And surprise surprise, the Captain is someone ELSE that Kirk knows. Does he know everyone in the galaxy? Truly excellent at networking.

Feels like it’s been a while since Spock called him “Jim.” Possibly because this was written early in the season, when he still did that a lot?

Another Merchant Marine, or equivalent. Interesting.

He was kicked out of the Academy in his 5th year. How many years is the Academy? I always assumed 4 but maybe it’s longer if you count like extra trainings and stuff.

Kirk is so in love with Spock talking about the planet. His face has gone all soft again.

Excellent roads--the first clue it’s Rome. (The big televised gladiator fights is the second clue.)

“I believe they called it ‘video.’“ If there’s no TV in the 23rd century, what is their entertainment? Netflix?

“We’re beaming down”--dramatic shot--dun dun dun.

Yeaaaah triumvirate!! They’re really going hard with this dynamic at this point in the series and I’m here for it.

I feel like this is the first time they’ve called the Non-Interference Directive the Prime Directive but I could be wrong. It’s certainly the first time they’ve spelled it all out.

“Behold! I am the Arch Angel Gabriel!”

“We come from another...province.” That’s a very convincing delivery. Especially paired with those outfits.

You can tell this guy’s important because he’s the only one wearing cut offs.

“We have many beliefs.” I feel like McCoy is a Southern Baptist.

Flavius: “I know killing is evil. But maybe just this one time? As a treat?”

“That’s our ship, somewhere... at sea. Yeah, our ship at sea. Not in space. That would be wacky.”

This episode is LITERALLY  “Rome AU.”

I love Spock looking through those “Elite” magazines. Doing a little research.

"Captain, I thought you might find this interesting." Hands him a magazine with a buff man on the cover. Yeah, Kirk is definitely canonically bisexual.

And he likes that car, too.

Why do all of Kirk’s friends and/or heroes lose and it and become tyrannical? At this point, it’s becoming a distressing pattern.

The SPACE ACADEMY? Damn why didn’t they keep that name?

“My dear Mr. Spock.”

And Spock’s like “You got me there, that was an example of Logic.”

Oooh, nice knit hat. Spock needs more beanies.

The son/sun pun is inspired honestly and it makes the Enterprise crew look so silly like "So you heard the words of the sun, you crackpot?" whereas he means, "I heard the words of the Son," which makes so much more sense on its face.

This Spock and Bones banter is also inspired. “Doctor, you are stealing my word, please stop.” “Medical man are trained in logic.” “I had no idea they were trained.”

Flavius is a really good character. I feel like I really understand all the sides to him: the warrior who can’t quite untrain himself from the killing instinct, even after he’s converted to Christianity and vowed to be a pacifist who loves mankind.

The triumivrate would have had so much fun together in college. If Jim they were all the same age, knew each other then, and Jim weren’t a stick in the mud at that time. “He’s sick, he’s about to double over!” “I am? Oh, yeah, I am! So sick!”

Spock immediately grabs the sword. That’s that Vulcan Warrior instinct. He does love old weaponry.

I’m considering the possibility that Merrickus is another ex-boyfriend. The vibes aren’t as strong as with that guy from A Private Little War, but there was a charged sort of look between them just then.

“He knows who and what we are.” Aliens. You’re aliens.

Oh, you want 50 Vulcans? Fifty Vulcan pacifists for the arena? A rollicking good time.

“Beam... come ashore.” Kirk’s very good at the Prime Directive.

Haha Spock said it was “interesting,” not “fascinating.” McCoy stole his word so now he needs a new word.

Classic Bones and Spock philosophical debate.

“My word is my vessel, my oath, my crew.” I love him your honor.

His two dear friends! Don’t threaten them!

They really think they can threaten Jim into doing the wrong thing. Never! He’s too good!

Honestly, it’s not really the Prime Directive (which they have broken before) that stops him from just annihilating a whole city with his ship...it’s that that would be immoral in and of itself. He’s not obliterating a society lol. That’s not an option.

Uhura is very interested in Scotty and his plans.

I love the whole concept of Roman Gladiator Television. The fake-ass background and the sound stage. “Empire TV.” The fake applause, boos, and catcalls. It’s the kind of thing you’d expect to see in fanfic tbh.

“Two highly aggressive barbarians.” Aka Spock and McCoy looking confused.

Good thing Spock definitely trained with Vulcan swords for fun when he was a small child.

The pro consul  is obviously in love with Kirk. Who wouldn’t be?

I don’t know if I believe these not-so-ancient Romans are so strong or so smart. This is pretty standard threats and kidnapping. Also Merrick can cry me a river about how hard this all is and how sad he was to see his men die. He’s the First Citizen ! It worked out well for him. Except that he appears to be the pro consul’s bitch.

That was a real missed opportunity for “I’m a doctor, not a gladiator.”

Spock only knocks the guy out when he needs to get rid of him to help Bones!!

Okay, that Spock and Bones scene is one of THE BEST in the entire series. Between anyone! The tension. The emotion. The complex friendship. ...The way Bones 100% knows Spock has a thing for Kirk and there’s pretty much no other way to read that exchange. “You wouldn’t know what to do with a warm, decent feeling” and then Spock’s like ‘ah, got you there,’ eyebrow raise, ‘Really, Doctor?” and then Bones is IMMEDIATELY like oh, right, you’re in love with Jim, forgot about that.” Have they discussed this or is it just that obvious? How does Spock know that McCoy knows??

In other news, a gratuitous Kirk kissing scene. They’re not even trying to come up with a pretext for this at this point.

This TV Execution is about to be pre-empted...by Scotty.

“What did they do to you, Captain?” Spock is so worried!! This would be a good time to call him ‘Jim’ but he used up his quota earlier. And Kirk doesn’t want to explain. “They threw me a few curves. A few blonde curves.”

Flavius was killed?????????? NOOOOOOO.

...And Uhura finishes up the ep by explaining the pun. Honestly, I get that Spock wouldn’t get “they’re Christian actually” as the explanation for all this and I’m going to give Kirk a pass also because I headcanon him as Jewish but McCoy, who is almost 100% certainly some kinda Christian AND was the most interested in this ‘sun worshiper’ confusion should really have put that one together on his own.

So overall, a good episode! I’ve seen it quite a few times, I think, and it doesn’t disappoint. I enjoy the concept of ‘parallel Earth but what if MORE ROME,’ I think the son/sun pun confusion is nifty, and it’s an awesome triumvirate episode that really shows off Kirk’s leadership skills. So no complaints!

Next is Assignment: Earth, which is a complete cheat of an episode because it’s a back door pilot to a show that doesn’t exist, but it does have Spock holding a cat in the beginning, so I guess I’ll muddle through it. Then...starting S3 off with Spock’s Brain. A rough couple of weeks ahead. But the reward is The Enterprise Incident.

THEATRE:HOME - 2:150 (thanks pandemic)

I usually separate out docs and fiction, but I watched almost no documentaries this year (with the exception of Dick Johnston). Reality is real enough. 

TV Series

01 - BoJack Horseman (final season) - Pretty damned poignant finish to the show, replete with actual consequences for our reformed bad boy protagonist (which is more than you can say for most antiheroes of Peak TV).

02 - *Hello Ladies - I enjoy the pure awkwardness of seeing Stephen Merchant try to perform being a Regular Person, but ultimately this show tips him too far towards a nasty, Ricky Gervais-lite sort of persona. Perhaps he was always best as a cameo appearance, or lip synching with wild eyes while Chrissy Teigen giggles?

03 - Olive Kittredge - a rough watch by times. I read the book as well, later in the year. Frances Mcdormand was the best, possibly the only, casting option for the flinty lead. One episode tips into thriller territory, which is a shock. 

04 - *The Wire S3, S4, S5 - lockdown culture! It was interesting to rewatch this, then a few months later go through an enormous, culture-level reappraisal of cop-centred narratives. 

05 - Forever - a Maya Rudolph/Fred Armisen joint that coasts on the charm of its leads. The premise is OK, but I wasn’t left wanting any more at the end. 

06 - *Catastrophe - a rewatch when my partner decided he wanted to see it, too!

07 - Red Oak - resolutely “OK” steaming dramedy, relied heavily on some pretty obvious cues to get across its 1980s setting. 

08 - Little Fires Everywhere - gulped this one down while in 14-day isolation, delicious! Every 90s suburban mom had that SUV, but not all of them had the requisite **secrets**

09 - The Great - fun historical comedy/drama! Costumes: lush. Actors: amusing. Race-blind casting: refreshing!

10 - The Crown S4 - this is the season everyone lost their everloving shit for, since it’s finally recent enough history that a fair chunk of the viewing audience is liable to recall it happening. 

11 - Ted Lasso - we resisted this one for a while (thought I did enjoy the ad campaign for NBC sports (!!) that it was based on). My view is that its best point was the comfort that the men on the show have (or develop, throughout the season) with the acknowledgement and sharing of their own feelings. Masculinity redux. 

12 - Moonbase 8 - Goodnatured in a way that makes you certain they will be crushed. 

13 - The Good Lord Bird - Ethan Hawke is really aging into the character actor we always hoped he would be! 

14 - Hollywood - frothy wish-fulfillment alternate history. I think the show would have been improved immeasurably by skipping the final episode.

1. Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahah.

Okay, so the WIP at the top of my priority list right now is the second chapter of my kastle secret santa fic,  (my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand), and I also REALLY want to write something for SethKate. I think it’s probably going to be the post-Amaru fic featuring self-care by way of a mani-pedi (as opposed to the post-Amaru fic with the predominantly platonic shower sharing). It also might be the very cracky sequel to what's best, House Hunters: Culebra Properties Edition.

So basically, other than that Kastle fic, we’ll see what comes next ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)

I really love this moment from holding on (and not letting go):

Especially in moments of calm, moments of silence, he’ll find her staring down at her hands, curling them to fists and opening them back up, over and over and over again.

Like she’s proving to herself that she can.

Just like, I’m a really big fan of sneaking in little moments that reference to the big things that my characters may or may not actually be talking about or thinking about in a certain scene. Especially in this fic, like, it’s not long after Matanzas, so Kate has Some Shit (TM) that she’s still working through, and this is just one of those moments that it’s not the priority, even if it’s still A Thing.

9. Are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? Pantser or plotter? Do you wish you were the other?

I like to think of myself as a “longshot” writer. I’ve tried many a time to write drabbles, but like, it’s too hard for me to write short fic. I really like to write one-shots, but they tend to be on the longer side. I’m also definitely a pantser, with a little bit of plotter on the side. Once I know what I’m writing for a fic, I’ll know what’s going to happen from beginning to end (more or less), but I don’t sit down and start my writing process (which I talk about here) by outlining or planning things out or anything. The closest I get is in some of my much longer fics, I’ll write like “the scene where this thing happens” or “the plot twist where X figures out the thing” or “X is an idiot and then feels happen”, just to make sure that I’m writing in the order my brain plans.

16. Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?)

I think the newest thing with my writing has been writing in SethKate. I also tend to naturally gravitate to writing from the female POV of the ships I write for (Karen and Kate), so when I’m writing, I tend to push myself to write from the male perspective, which can be challenging when you have characters like Seth and Frank. 

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

I really, really enjoy infusing those often unwritten “what the fuck is this shit” thoughts in the narration. One of my absolute least favorite tropes EVER is intentional miscommunication, so making sure that perspective never happens, and it’s understood that people aren’t going to let this miscommunication happen is very important to me. (See: what's best, and how Kate doesn’t let Seth get away with trying to avoid talking to her about what he thought he heard when she was on the phone with Scoot and decided to spiral instead)

I also really, really enjoy playing in the sandbox that is Kate and Seth’s relationship post Matanzas. I’ve read and love a LOT of fics that take place post S1 and S2, but I just haven’t connected with that on a writer side. I just love the place Kate and Seth get to after 3x10 (I feel like they’re on a more even dynamic than they are during the Mexican Honeymoon, and I just don’t feel comfortable writing that) and I feel like that’s why all but maybe only 2 or 3 of my FDTD WIPs are Post S3, and those other ones are either serious AUs or the one that I plan to take place in 2x10.

And I also love taking my favorite shows and figuring out how to make them crossover. It’s like a puzzle and sitting them together and having that, “Holy fucking shit this is going to be SO fucking good.” moment is just THE BEST.

21. What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)

I mean, I’d fucking LOVE to have the Punisher/FDTD crossovers to be Netflix shows. And also the Punisher/Fringe crossover. I think they’d be SO much fun as shows.

Okay, doing @yossariandawn‘s questions because they were so good I didn’t wanna miss out. :P

1. Set two fictional couples you love on a double date, and tell me how would that play out? One word answers are acceptable if you prefer. Hmm... Well, I always wanted to do a crossover fic of fdtd and twd because I shipped both sethkate and bethyl. I could totally see Kate and Beth being best buds right away because they’re so similar and are pretty close in age. I wasn’t ever sure Seth and Daryl would get along too well because Daryl is a little standoffish with people he doesn’t know. :P Seth would not be having any fun and would probably make an idiot of himself, but what else is new. The double date might devolve into a fistfight between the two lbr. XD

2. Do you like candles? If so, what’s your favorite candle scent? I had this mocha coffee scented candle with coffee beans glued to the bottom half that I LOVE. I don’t remember where I bought it but I’ve been wanting to get more like it for almost 2 decades. lol I’ve never burned it. I wish someone could see inside my brain and write the Fireman Seth au of my dreams. lol I just don’t know what to do with it myself tbh. Alternatively, my culebra seth fic. Life in Lockdown

How is everyone doing? Life seems to be stuck on pause with the current situation we are facing now. It must have been really tough for most of us, and I just hope you guys find the strength to get through this crisis and make all these restrictions as bearable and productive as possible.

Anyway, I decided to update this blog because I wanted to document my 27th birthday two days ago. Nothing grand happened. It just felt different though. I couldn’t be with my family or friends due to the extended enhanced community quarantine, but that didn’t make my day any less special. I received tons of birthday greetings, mostly from people I don't know and am not even close to—my parents are the ones responsible for this because they like to publicly post their greetings with my photos and videos on their timeline—and some throwback photos from friends. My family also sang "Happy Birthday" to me through video/voice calls. Asis did all the food preparation. He cooked spaghetti and tuna spring rolls for me, and we had the cake and a bucket of chicken delivered. And that's pretty much it. A virtual celebration with my loved ones.

Playing - Asis and I have been playing Path Of Exile for a month already. This game is keeping us up late! The game is like the Diablo one I used to play when I was a kid. This is a free online-only action RPG game. So addictive!

Reading - I've been reading a lot actually. Wattpad stories, Twitter AUs, I still have an unfinished book: We Are Okay by Nina LaCour, and I'm planning on starting another story on Wattpad and Twitter.

Writing - This blog update. I'm kinda in the mood to blog since I can't do much because we've had a lousy internet connection for almost two months now.

Watching - None as of the moment. Well, I do have tons of unfinished Netflix/Kdrama series. It's like I've acquired a habit of not finishing a series, especially Korean ones when they're 2-4 episodes away from being done. And sometimes, I watch anime movies whenever I feel like it. The last one I saw was Castle in the Sky (1986) and I gave it 9/10 stars. By the way, here's my "to-watch-series" list: How to Get Away with Murder 6, Pose 2, This Is Us S3-S6, The King: Eternal Monarch.

Listening - My "Deliquesce" playlist on Spotify. Currently playing: Same Room – JP Saxe.

Wanting - The taste of real coffee! But most cafes, or businesses for that matter, are closed due to the ECQ.

Needing - A vacation! It's summer and I need a change of scenery. Staying at home for so long feels like time has slowed down. Oftentimes, I've lost track of what day of the week it is. I'm guessing it's the same for most of us, hmm? But we've got to stay at home. We need to work together to help stop the spread of the disease.

Wishing - For this COVID-19 pandemic to end. Wishing and praying they find the vaccine for this virus.

Hoping - For fewer work tasks next week and for the internet to be fixed.

Missing - My family and shooting film.

Good Things in 2019

@theputterer and @the-strongest-stars tagged me in the awesome annual end-of-year Good Things meme! I’ve done this in 2018 & 2017 and always think it’s a fun exercise of both reflection and looking forward.

Oh boy, though, my first thought was, what even happened in 2019? (Looking at a calendar helped! It reminded me of a few things I forgot)

It’s been a Rough Year, friends. Between OCD and basically travelling almost every weekend in the latter half of 2019, I am very much ready for a new year and hopefully a new slate.

But this is about the positives!

Personal

Played a lot of Dungeons and Dragons! I am now officially in two campaigns. This year, I endeavored to recruit more women to play, including the wonderful @allatariel. I play both my beloved cleric, Maritsa (who I’ve been playing her years now) and my new character, Noara, a ranger elf with a red panda familiar (yeah, my DM let me do that for funsies, so I could get an animal sidekick but also still try out the Horizon Walker subclass). 

Speaking of red pandas, I accomplished my LIFE GOAL of meeting a red panda face-to-face. I got to feed Harriet at the Cincinnati Zoo for 30 minutes. She was adorable. 

Completed all my dental work and had a clean bill of dental health two cleanings in a row! 

Attended DC’s Around the World Embassy Day event, always fun

Attended Star Wars night at a local library, where I got to participate in a short demo/lesson on how to fence with a lightsaber!

Attended 50th Anniversary Celebration of Apollo 11 / landing on the moon (dude they projected the rocket on the Washington Monument and it looked so cool)

Returned to the NY Ren Faire and upgraded my ren faire garb

Celebrated at THREE friends’ weddings and got to catch up with old friends I hadn’t seen in awhile

Ate ice cream at the Ben & Jerry’s Factory in Vermont

Went to NYCC for the third year in a row. Got to wear 2 costumes this year: a 1920s flapper interpretation of an occamy and my Endor!Leia costume (repeat of 2017). Learned the True Pain of sewing. Created feather shawl for my occamy costume. Learned the True Pain of crafting.

Celebrated one year anniversary with hubbie down where we got married: visited the museum we got married in and actually got a chance to enjoy the exhibits, went to our favorite brunch place down there, got to check out Fleet Week and tour an aircraft carrier and uh... I think it was a missile cruiser? 

Went up to PSU for a women’s hockey game for sister’s birthday (made embarrassing HAPPY BIRTHDAY sign for the cameras); also it was an absolutely wonderful fall drive on the way up there

Got to see The Rise of Skywalker in IMAX at the Smithsonian Air & Space Center with the awesome @allatariel! (thank goodness we had each other to get through that movie lol) also got to reuse my Endor!Leia costume. I did my own braids for the first time ever! (usually my talented sister does them) They looked like braids done by a n00b, but I didn’t care because they were passable and I did them myself and that was a Big Thing for Perfectionist Me (to not just... say screw it and undo it and just. give up. but to just let them be as is)

Worked hard at therapy and self care

Got a Sleep Number bed and holy shit let me tell you. i can actually sleep now.

OH! I almost forgot!!! Started playing Assassin’s Creed! I’ve only ever really played the LEGO Star Wars and Harry Potter video games so like. This was big for me. 

Writing

Finally finished Learning Curve. TBH I was a bit shocked that this was in fact the only fic I published in 2019. What a travesty.

However! I have been writing

@allatariel & I sat down, overanalyzed You’ve Got Mail, and drafted up the outline for my in-universe AU, something I’ve been dreaming of starting for years. Have about 4300 words so far.

Just under the wire, I did manage to start my NatGeo AU, which I’ve been dreaming of since my honeymoon in Nov 2018

Started editing/revising my original young adult fantasy novel

Poked a little at my epic fantasy pirate travel novel idea

Books

I read exactly one book, Among the Red Stars, which I enjoyed. It’s about women fighter pilots in Russia in WW2. Inspired by real people.

Music

Saw Panic at the Disco! in concert. I went along with my sister. Not like a huge fan, but they put on a pretty fun show!

Saw Waitress on Broadway!! OH MY GOD. And Sara Bareilles was starring in it. Amazing. I freaking love her music (”How does she know / what a heart sounds like?” gahhh). She was so good, and the show was so good. I literally cried all the way through it just because I was so happy to be there, but also because of the content. Man.

Saw Sara Bareilles again, in concert, in Philly. I love her so much.

Television

Finished Critical Role Campaign 1! Oh man, what a ride. Gosh, I love that show. I really need to catch up in C2 now. I’ve started it but I’m only on episode 26 or 27.

I’m not sure whether I finished The Clone Wars in 2018 or 2019. I think it was early 2019. This show was amazing and this was the character development that Anakin Skywalker needed. I love Ahsoka Tano. I cannot wait for the last season.  

Finished Rebels!!! AGAIN, what a ride!!! I still love Ahsoka Tano. I also love Hera Syndulla and Sabine Wren. Sabine’s Darksaber arc was fantastic.

The Mandalorian OMG BABY YODA!!! Yes, I have succumbed to the adorableness of Baby Yoda. Most adorable SW character forever. But also just an enjoyable story in general. This, this is how you craft a story. still NOT over the darksaber omg. 

The Good Place is continuing to be good. Not as crazy about season 4, but I’m so glad they decided to limit the seasons.

Got my sister to watch Rebels!! And then even a few episodes of The Clone Wars!!! Mwahaha >) 

Finally got around to watching The Great British Bake Off, what a sweet show!

OMG I ALMOST FORGOT Anne With an E!!! Gosh what a wonderful wholesome delightful show. No I haven’t watched S3 yet because I am Lawful Good to a fault and just patiently waiting for it to come on Netflix

Film

So, I woefully neglected to mention The Aeronauts in this post about my favorite movies in the 2010s and that was a Mistake. Because I really enjoyed this one

But otherwise probably check out that list. Because I don’t go to the movies that often, actually, and anything I really loved from 2019 is most definitely listed there.

Be more supportive in helping my friend run Book Club so that it can actually meet more regularly HA, oops. Book Club died, but kind of in favor of being able to start a second D&D campaign. At least that’s the trade off I’m looking at. I had some OCD-related glasses issues this year that inhibited reading a lot.

Try to read at least one book for myself outside of Book Club lol WELL the one book I read this year was not part of Book Club sooo

Goals for 2020

Writing

I’m not going to make this a completion goal, but instead...

...I’d like to just focus on creating a regular writing schedule/habit. Whatever the project, I just want to make sure I carve out significant time each week just to write. I don’t want to set a specific goal like “x hours a week” for now, but I want to make sure that I am writing each week.

To achieve that (because what are goals without maps):

If the words don’t immediately jump onto the page, then I’m going to try outlining or summarizing. I’m going to let go of overthinking how sentences are phrased, and just pretend I’m describing the story idea to a friend.

That blank page is staring at me and I’m just going to fill it with words no matter what I might think of them!

And I’m going to let everything else expand from there. And see how that works.

Look into the idea of perhaps forming or joining a writer’s group for original writing oh gosh that is so scary

Could I be curious for a hot second? I swear I saw in a post you did the other day that you haven’t read ACD canon? This is absolutely not a judgement ask or anything but I’m always curious to find out how/why people resist reading the original works of modern adaptations. Is it just not your cup of tea or did you watch Sherlock for the actors? etc. I’m one of those who when they love something, it quickly becomes an obsession and have to read every book, article, Twitter post there is about the thing before I’m satisfied..

Also could I add in, what do you think of Tiny Little Houses - I Hate That You’re Happy for Johnlock Playlist?..

OOOF I dunno how or when I got this and totally missed it, but I totally apologize because this is a quick-response ask. Tumblr’s been... hiding new stuff from me lately, and it’s kinda frustrating :|

ANYWAY: Firstly, I’m gonna mention that I’m putting the JLPL suggestion on a separate ask that is now behind a SLEW of Playlist submissions (I dunno why it’s suddenly popular again, LOL) so keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks LOL.

Secondly, no offense taken at all to the boldness of your ask; I’ve actually been asked this quite often and honestly I DON’T have a good reason.

So yeah, honestly? These are good questions, and fun ones to reply to. Ah, I actually have my besties to thank for me getting into Sherlock. Believe it or not, I didn’t really know much about Ben until I saw Sherlock; my first recollection of seeing his face was as Khan in Into Darkness, and I loved that movie (I know I’m among a small few who do love ST:ID; I KNOW the problems with it, I just REALLY like everyone’s acting in it), and I knew of Martin, actually, which is why I agreed to watch the show. So yeah, I went to visit my friends one weekend, and on the Sunday night before I left (it was a holiday weekend, so I always leave on the Monday), we pulled up Netflix and put it on. I WAS FASCINATED. I LOVED IT. We only got through the first season, so when I got home, I torrented that bitch and watch all of S1 and S2 in one sitting the following weekend. And I already had a Tumblr at that time, so I just... lurked blogs, and then I started getting really into it. 

Long-short, this blog was created just before S3, so I could start interacting with other fandom people, and try my hand at meta (which I partook in extensively on the regular until everyone left). The name “inevitably-johnlocked” actually came about because I was a platonic bromance shipper when I first saw the show, until I got REALLY into it, and started educating myself and interacting with very lovely queer people, who in turn gave me the gift of self discovery. I was, rightfully so, inevitably destined to be a Johnlocker :) I laugh to myself about that all the time. It’s not even funny, but I have a few little easter eggs all over the place on my blog / posts that if you know small things about me, they’re rather amusing to weird people like me.

BUT ANYWAY, that wasn’t your question, LOL. With regards to ACD canon, truth is exactly this: I just never got around to it. I’ve no reason to NOT read them, I’m just a literal garbage human who eats fanfiction like Skittles. I haven’t read anything OTHER than fanfiction in literal YEARS. I think the last book I bought was the Inkheart Trilogy (WHICH BY THE WAY THERE NEEDS TO BE A JOHNLOCK AU FOR, where John is either the writer or the Silver Tongue [or both], his kid is Meggie, Mary has died / left him, and Sherlock is either his creation or we’ll go really meta and he IS the ACD character, and that’s how he meets John Watson, but I digress. I think about this a lot), which I love dearly. But I just haven’t really taken a break from reading fanfics since like... twenty... fourteen? Yeah, that’s when S3 came out. And then, yeah, I just read downloaded books now on my phone, and I just... never got around to downloading the ACD canon books. I know exactly where to get them, but I guess I’m just SO immersed in the BBC canon that I do like you do, except with EVERYTHING BBC canon, LOL. Except S4, LOL, that can go burn in the dumpster.

(as an aside, my consumption and adoration and obsession of fanfics works in everyone’s favour, really: I get content, you guys get more and more stuff to read that has my good-for-nothing-seal-of-approval, and because of the kind of neuroticism I do have, everything is meticulous and evolves with the fandom)

So yeah, TL;DR: I’m lazy. That simple. And I know it would probably be better for me to read them so that I can answer stuff with certainty, but I’ll be blatantly honest: I LOVE being a middle person to the interactions between y’all, and when you guys impart your knowledge onto me about stuff. It helps keep my blog interactive, and honestly, that’s fun :)

4. are there any shows you wish could just be cancelled already? – My number one answer is Grey’s Anatomy. I officially gave up watching back in S10; but even now, it’s not remotely like it used to be, and should have ended years ago. ABC just won’t admit it because it pulls in money. And Ellen needs a steady paycheck.

5. what’s your comfort show? – I feel like I have a lot of them, particularly sitcoms like Full House and Boy Meets World, because they’re the kind of stupid funny I need when I want to watch something without effort. But actually, Sex and the City is another one; it’s a show you can just throw on.

7. have you ever been inspired to start a new show based on gifs or memes it has produced? — Many times. That’s actually how I got into Castle, mid S3.

Mini story ahead: My mom watched The Punisher before me, and one night I happened to catch her watching an episode. I looked over right as Billy and Dinah were making out against the wall, said to myself, “is that Ben Barnes..!?” and made a note to put it on my list. Forgot about it, then finally watched it at the end of last year. It’s happened with some other things as well, but that’s the easiest one for me to remember because it’s so recent.

17. have you ever written fanfiction for a TV show? – Yes, and you know this ;) The first time I ever wrote anything for a TV show, and wrote with a partner, was when we wrote White Collar AU together.

18. have you ever drawn fanart for a show? – Nope. I would love to try someday, though.

21. Netflix, Hulu, or Prime originals? – Netflix. I’ve never seen a Hulu original before, and I’m… blanking on the Prime originals I’ve tried, right now.

22. if you could be a guest star on any show, which one would it be? – Oh man. I think I’d sell at least a piece of my soul to be on the same set as Tatiana Maslany. If only to breathe the same air. But I think I’d love to guest on a sitcom most of all. What’s better than getting paid for laughing?

26. favourite TV show theme song? – I love, love the Westworld main theme, but the entire score is phenomenal.

27. which actor do you think deserves an Emmy for their work on TV? – There are so many people whose work I enjoy, that of course I’m going to feel they deserve it, but it’s all subjective. That Keri Russell never won for The Americans truly is a crime to me. And I wanted to throw awards in Ben Barnes’ general direction for those tears he shed in 2x10 of Westworld. Not to mention the tears he made me cry with S2 of The Punisher. There’s more, but I’ll stop there.

34. what are your top 5 shows right now? – I’m not even watching anything current? Just reminds me that I need to get started on Nancy Drew.

41. if you could change 1 detail about any show, what would you change and why? – This is hard, because so many little things have annoyed me over time. I feel like I’ve now forgotten them all. I need to think on that.

44. if you could replace any actor on TV in playing their role, who would you like to play and why? – Well, if you want me to be 100% honest, I’d have to say I’d replace Teresa Palmer as Diana Bishop (A Discovery of Witches). She has the look, but that’s about it, for me. Don’t get me wrong, I like her, but there’s something missing in her performance. As for who I’d replace her with, I really don’t know–maybe someone unknown? But as sad as I am to say it, because I do love TV Matthew & Diana, I can’t help wishing they’d gone in another direction.

49. who are your favourite couples on TV? – I feel like I don’t even have couples anymore… Castle & Beckett (Castle), Lois & Clark (Smallville), Sutton & Richard (The Bold Type) are all very, very special to me for different reasons. I have special places in my heart for Jack & Kate (Lost), Carrie & Big (Sex and the City), and Niles & Daphne (Frasier), too. I’m all about the romance.
