The next character I'm redrawing is Cinnamon and Midnight's eccentric aunt named Aunt Brazil, a guinea pig who is equally as strange as their Uncle Weird... well actually, I'm drawing Aunt Brazil for the first time because the only old comic I could find with her was a Halloween 2001 strip where she's seemingly already dead! Did the power of the god David Willson resurrect her? Thanks to VirtualSonic21 for helping me with the Brazilian Portuguese translation.
For more info on Aunt Brazil, check out my upload on Deviant Art.

Marie Louiseâs sister Leopoldine kept her fully supplied with news of her nephew, whom she described as âlife incarnate.â The little Prince [Napoleon II] seems to have been very fond of the future Empress of Brazil. She found this âvery flatteringâ and could have âplayed with him for hours on end.â âYesterday I had a delightful experience,â she wrote on July 31, âfor he called me and I had to go and join him in the garden, where he told me a story of which I did not understand a word, as he had a big croissant in his mouthâ.
(...) The delightful and little-known Leopoldine, the future Empress of Brazil, had also promised her sister to watch over âFranz,â whom she considered âtoo sweet for words,â and to protect him âagainst the spiteful remarks which are already being made about him.â Certain members of the Court chose in fact to regard him simply as âthe Ogreâs son.â âI am always afraid,â wrote Marie Louise, âthat people will forget that it is not his fault that he has such a father. . . .â âI am entirely of your opinion,â replied Leopoldine, âand it makes me choke with anger to hear certain self-important people being as spiteful as they can about him to dear Papa [Emperor Franz I]. Neipperg will be able to give you the details, because I have discussed the subject at length with him; as for myself, one of these days I shall certainly place the child officially under my protection.â She was especially critical of the methods employed by Dietrichstein [Napoleon II's tutor], whom she called âthe abominable Count Moritz.â She would have liked to see much more of her âadorableâ nephewâ âPapaâs darling and mine tooââ but unfortunately âthere are people who will not always allow it, and whose eyes I should like to scratch out.â When the boy, for some reason or other, was prevented from going to play in his little garden, Rainer [Archduke of Austria], faithful to his promise, intervened; and the following monthâ May, 1816â Leopoldine could tell her sister that Francis was âblooming like a roseâ and âtaking the air a great deal, in accordance with Uncle Rainerâs prescriptions.â
Castelot, André (1960). King of Rome: a biography of Napoleon's tragic son (translation by Robert Baldick)

To any friendly Irish people and Brazilian immigrants in Ireland: my cousin's husband bit an officer in self defense and now is facing charges, he's in risk of spending an year in jail (they're putting a lot of fear in them). They have zero support there, they're so vulnerable, we already told them to ask the embassy for help, but does anyone have any legal advice specific to Irish laws? They were just a month from leaving the country and now they're terrified. I'm so fucking worried for the two of them.

Was very lucky to get early tickets to Brazil v Costa Rica some months ago for the Copa America. Very much a pro-Brazil crowd - I've never heard so much Portuguese in my life, and I thought both Brazilian and Costa Rican diasporas were more east-coast based. But boy oh boy did the Ticos fans lap things up by the end (they even olé'd Brazil of all teams - a sight I never thought I'd ever see in my life).
Lots of fun. Aside from the parking nightmare.
#Copa America#Brazil#Costa Rica#SoFi Stadium#technically as a USMNT fan I should be rooting for CRC and I thoroughly enjoyed this chaotic draw and the Ticos' performance#but I also have a grand uncle and grand aunt who live in Brazil so I do have some fondness for them#how did a Vietnamese couple end up in Brazil after fleeing across the Pacific? that's a very long story

DĂa de Muertos
Pairing: Charles Leclerc x Mexican! Reader
Summary: Per Mexican tradition, Y/N makes an altar for her family members that passed away. She added Charlesâs family members as well
Warning: spelling and grammatical errors, death, inaccuracies
A/N: This was the first time I put up an ofrenda and since today is Day of the Dead, itâs fitting
The best thing about dating a Formula 1 driver is the traveling. Y/N joined Charles in all his races, mainly because she is able to work from home as an event planner. So when they were in Mexico City for the Grand Prix, she bought papel picado, sugar skulls, and little dog alebrijes. Now that they are in Brazil, Y/N bought candles, a table cloth, marigolds, and printed out photos to set up the altar.
Y/N made it back to the hotel while Charles was in the track for free practice. She placed the table cloth over the hotel room desk, added the papel picado and marigold before placing the photos in the place card holder. There was one of her aunt that died from cancer, her grandpa that died of old age, Jules, and Hervé. Onces the little altar was set up exactly how she wanted it, she placed the candles near their photos and added the sugar skulls and alebrijes wherever there was an empty space.
Though Y/N wasnât in Mexico anymore, there are Mexican restaurants in Brazil and she ordered her auntâs and grandpaâs favorite food plus pan de muerto to have it delivered to the hotel. There was a knock on the door and when Y/N opened it, expecting to see a hotel employee with Mexican food, she saw her boyfriend.
âMuñeco, i thought you would still be in the track.â Y/N said, charles leaned in and kissed Y/N on the cheek before walking into their hotel room.
âWe finished, whatâs all this?â Charles asked, pointing to the table.
âRight. Well, today is day of the dead and usually Iâm in my apartment to make this ofrenda but now Iâm dating you so I brought the ofrenda with me.â Y/N explained but Charles looked confused. âUm, itâs an altar, itâs a way to honor my dead relatives and welcome their spirits to our home. I usually go all out but this is a hotel room and I donât want the fire alarm to go off.â Y/N explained and Charles looked closer at the ofrenda and saw a picture of Jules and another one of his father.
âYou put them up?â Charles asked in a whisper, he felt his eyes getting teary, picking up the photo of him and his dad.
âI know you miss them a lot, everything you are doing in formula 1 in for them, I thought it would be nice to add them to the ofrenda. I know this isnât really your tradition but itâs mine and I want to share it with you.â Y/N said softly, Charles looked at her and kissed her forehead.
âThank you, Mon ange, that is very sweet of you, really.â Charles said.
âUm, itâs tradition to add their favorite food on the altar. I ordered some Mexican for my aunt and grandpa, what did Jules and your dad like to eat?â Y/N asked.
âI Donât think we could get it here but they likedâŠâ Charles told Y/N their favorite foods.
âIâm sure we could order it from somewhere.â Y/N said. There was a knock and Y/N opened the door, it was the food she ordered. She got the food and gave the man a tip before walking back to Charles. âWe also have this bread thatâs called pan de muerto, we place it on the ofrenda too.â
âIâm sure they would enjoy the bread.â Charles said smiling. He opened the bag to help Y/N place the bread on the table. âSo when we were is Mexico and you told me you were shopping, you were preparing for this?â
âOf course! Iâm still Mexican, Muñeco, my tradition wonât change because Iâm in another country.â Y/N said and Charles chuckled. Y/N placed the food in front of her auntâs and grandpaâs picture.
âMaybe next year you can put up the ofrenda in my place.â Charles said.
âYou mean that?â Y/N asked.
âI do, we havenât been dating long but I feel very happy with you, happier than I have been in a long time.â Charles said before he kissed Y/N softly.
âI feel happy with you too. Oh, do you want some bread? Itâs really good.â Y/N said, grabbing a loaf (?) and offering it to charles.
âSure.â Charles said, tearing off of a piece of bread to taste. He hummed in content. âThis is really good, do they sell this a lot on Mexico for day of the dead?â
âYes they do, Mexican bread is the best.â Y/N said,
âI Can tell. Iâm going to send a picture of the altar to my mom, is that okay?â Charles asked.
âYeah, itâs okay.â Y/N said and Charles took a picture of the altar, making sure Pascale could clearly see his dad and Jules. He sent it to his mom and got a response in 2 minutes.
âMy mom said itâs very sweet and considerate of you to add my dad and Jules.â Charles said.
âI May not have met them but I know how much they mean to you, I couldnât leave them out.â Y/N said, looking down all shy. Charles brought his his finger under her chin to make her look at him,
âI love you so much, thank you for this.â Charles said before kissing her deeply.
âDonât mention it.â Y/N said as soon as they separated from the kiss. They hugged each other. âI think we should watch Coco.â Charles laughed at her suggestion. âWell how else are you supposed to get the day of the dead?â
âFine, letâs see if you can connect you phone to the hotel TV.â Charles said.
And thatâs how they spent DĂa de Muertos, watching Coco on Disney plus and eating pan de muerto.
The End
Hope yâall liked it!

my little cousins (four and two) speak italian and spanish fluently, but understand Portuguese and german pretty much perfectly as well, and speak it in small words or phrases here and there. what this leads to is the four year old sometimes randomly going "oh mein gött!" when she's surprised and oh my god everytime i just burst out laughing becvause it ALWAYS catches me off guard and I ALWAYS think of the little german boy memeđ
#explanation for why they speak all these languages:#my uncle (my moms brother and their father) is spanish obviously as we all are so thats his main language and why she speaks that one#my aunt (who he married) however was born in italian switzerland but her family is all from Brazil#other than her dad who has ties to Germany#my aunt is so fucking cool and impressive she speaks SIX languages#spanish english german italian french and portuguese#my uncle now speaks italian fluently but with a thick spanish accent lol

Blue Birthday
pairing: charles leclerc x reader
summary: charles accidentally missed your birthday
a/n: thanks for the request 𫶠i hope you like it! my requests will be fully open again soon
masterlist
âââââââ
You met Charles through your Uncle Ayrtonâs foundation. You were at an event with your Aunt Viviane before the Brazilian GP and Charles was a volunteer.
Everything was so easy with him, he made every effort to make sure you knew how much he loves and appreciates you. Charles didnât even force you to move to Monaco, but as soon as you told him you were moving there for the foundation, he cleared space for you.
You never celebrated things for yourself, but Charles made sure that you knew how special you were to him, so maybe thatâs why the situation you found yourself in hurt so much.
âMon amour, I have to go to Maranello for a few days. Ferrari emergency, will you be okay?â Charles asks, and you canât say no to him. The look he gives you tells you that he genuinely wouldnât go if you objected.
âIâll be okay Charles,â you tell him, following him to the bedroom to help him pack up. âDrive safe, mĂŽr,â you kiss him before he leaves. Charles didnât tell you how long he would be gone, so there was a small bit of hope in you that he would be back home for your birthday.
The few days passed until it was the night before your birthday. You spent the day working at the foundation, eagerly awaiting Charlesâs return that evening.
âIâm sorry, I have to stay a couple more days. I miss you,â Charles says over the phone as you make dinner.
âItâs okay, I know you tried,â you canât help but to hide your disappointment for the rest of the phone call. Yet again, you crawl into an empty bed. When midnight strikes you canât fall asleep, but that doesnât matter much when your phone rings.
âHappy birthday! Weâre sorry we couldnât fly over from Brazil,â your father says on the video call. Your smile hides the sting.
âThank you, Papi. It is just another day,â the words feel fake. You used to believe that, but the man who isnât here changed your view.
âNonsense. It is your day. I am giving you the day off, treat yourself to a spa day and a nice lunch,â your aunt tells you.
âThank you, I wonât do any work, promise,â you yawn, wiped from the day.
You wake up late, immediately checking your phone for a message from Charles. Unfortunately for you, it feels like everyone but Charles messaged you. Hell, even Carlos texted you. Maybe he is just waiting to call you later.
The spa is wonderful, and takes up most of your afternoon. Despite the air of relaxation, you can help but to check you phone for a message from Charles, even a silly instagram reel would suffice.
Heidi invites you to a birthday dinner with Carmen, Kelly, and Lily.
âHow has your birthday been so far? I just know Charles gave you the most thoughtful gift,â Heidi says as you sip on wine. You mask your grimace with a smile.
âIt has been very lovely. I was able to sleep in late then I enjoyed a long afternoon at the spa. Very relaxing,â you tell them, leaving Charles out of it. The dinner is long, and you do enjoy it, but as time goes on, your heart hurts more.
Heidi pulls you to the side before you get to your car, well, Charlesâs car.
âCharles forgot, didnât he?â She asks, not giving you time to respond. âListen, the teams have a way of occupying our guys so much that they donât realize what day it is when they get called in. It isnât an excuse, but keep that in mind,â
âThanks, I needed to hear that. And thank you again for organizing the dinner,â you pull Heidi into a hug.
During the drive home, you can feel tears pricking in your eyes. When you get home all that awaits you is a text from Charles saying that he is stuck in meetings and to not wait up for him, that he will call in the morning.
You lay in bed, finally letting the tears fall. You are mad at Charles, Ferrari, the world. There is nothing you wish for more in this moment to be back home in Brazil. You donât answer your fatherâs phone call, knowing he will ask how your birthday was, and you cannot lie to him. Instead, you fall asleep, still in the dress you wore to dinner, wondering if you would ever really be the number one priority to Charles.
meanwhile in MaranelloâŠ
Charles and Carlos leave the meeting, nearing Midnight. Carlos drives them to the nearby apartment they are staying in for the duration of time Ferrari needs them.
âHow was Y/nâs birthday today? Did she enjoy your gift,â Carlos asks, thinking to the many thoughtful gifts heâs received from Charles.
âFuck. That was today?â Charles panics, looking at his phone calendar.
âCharles, you didnât?â Carlos feels his heart drop for his teammate.
âI did. I got so caught up here. I need to call her,â Charles immediately calls you, but you donât pick up. âShe didnât answer, sheâs probably asleep,â Charles can feel the tears in his eyes. He feels awful.
âIâll call Fred, you start packing. Drive back tonight,â Carlos tells him as he parks the car. Both waste no time. Charles is packed to leave within five minutes, and Carlos left no room for negotiation.
Charles drives all night, making it back to the Monaco apartment just after 4:30 in the morning.
He walks into your bedroom quietly, not wanting to disturb your sleep. His heart breaks at the sight of you clutching his pillow, still in the dress from the night before. Charles is quick to carefully strip the dress off of you, and put his t-shirt on you. After getting you under the covers, he slides in beside you, holding you close. Even if you are upset with him, he is even more upset with himself.
When your alarm goes off in the morning, you feel the familiar warmth beside you and your heart melts a little. Charles groans, wiping his eyes as you quickly turn off the alarm. You realize what him being here means, he drove all night.
âCharles, go back to sleep,â you whisper, carefully getting out of bed.
âBut I missed your birthday,â he groggily says, fighting the sleep that is trying to pull him under.
âI know, we will talk about it when I get back from work, okay? Get some sleep, you mustâve driven all night,â you tell him gently, silently getting ready for the day.
When Charles wakes up, he spends the day cleaning, restocking the fridge, and picking up the gifts he bought you months ago. He even makes your favorite dinner and his momâs tiramisu. Carlos called while he was cooking to ask how things were going and to wish Charles luck.
âCharles? You didnât need to do all this,â you tell him when you get home, the delicious smells from the kitchen leading you to him.
âI did, mon amour. I feel awful,â Charles wraps his arms around you, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
âI know, and Ferrari isnât an excuse for what you did, but maybe you can make it up to me,â you offer a small smile.
âI have a whole night planned. Let me make it up to you,â Charles takes off your jacket for you, instructing you to sit at the dinner table. Your face lights up at the meal sitting in front of you, the candles burning, a perfect dinner date.
âMĂŽr, you didnât have to do all this,â you tell him when he sits beside you, serving you before you have the chance to do so for yourself.
âI was going to cook for you regardless. I will always treat you like the queen you are,â Charles smiles. You make small talk over the meal, avoiding the elephant in the room. You want to stay mad at him, but you canât. You love him so much, and heâs made so much effort into making it up to you. Honestly, you forgave him as soon as you woke up and saw him, but you might as well milk it.
âOkay, I have a few gifts for you, but come into the bedroom first,â he tells you when you finish the dessert together. You follow him to your room where new matching silk pajamas wait on your bed, fuzzy blankets, and some snacks.
âCuddles and a movie?â you ask with a small smile.
âOf course. While you change, Iâll go get your gifts,â Charles says, stepping out of the room. He returns a couple moments later with three boxes. You carefully open them in the order he gives them to you. The first is a white hoodie with his racing number and your uncleâs racing number stitched on the left arm, subtle but thoughtful.
âI thought that you might want something cozy for race days, especially the colder ones. There is one in red and one in black in the closet,â Charles smiles as you hold the softest hoodie known to man.
âThanks, mĂŽr, I love it,â you smile, setting it to the side. You open the second box, it is a signed photo of your uncle and parents together, it mustâve been right before he crashed. You look a Charles a little teary-eyed.
âAh, I shouldâve saved that for last. There is someone who collects a lot of memorabilia and I reached out to see if he was willing to sell anything of your Uncleâs. When I told him it was for you, he gave it for free. Said you deserved it. Truthfully, I was going to give it to your dad for Christmas, but I thought youâd want a piece of your family here,â Charles rubs his neck shyly. You let the tears fall down your cheek as you look at the trio.
âThank you,â you choke back a sob, flinging your arms around Charles as he holds you tightly.
âOne last present,â Charles smiles, handing you a small box once youâve composed yourself. There is a set of keys and you look confused at him. âThose arenât your keys, itâs more symbolic. Your Ferrari Roma will be delivered next week,â he tells you, worried you are about to freak out.
âYou bought me a car?â
âWell, even though Iâm fine with you taking the keys to my cars, I know you donât always feel comfortable doing so. So, I got you a car,â Charles smiles, watching you process it.
âWow, thank you. Iâll, um, put these away. Put your pajamas on so we can watch a movie,â you carefully pick up the hoodie and picture. Charles doesnât hesitate to put on the comfy pajamas and get in bed with you. He puts on your favorite movie and holds you close.
âI really am so sorry I missed your birthday,â Charles says as your head rests against his chest.
âI know. Iâm happy you are here now though. Thank you for coming home last night and making it up to me. I love you,â you turn your head so you can look at him.
âThere is nowhere else Iâd rather be. I love you too,â he kisses you sweetly, happy he didnât ruin everything.
