Because I already went on a rant on Twitter: Regarding some comments I'm seeing about Amir (Warframe 1999) and his lines/personality:
I knew some people would complain about how bubbly he is and thinking of him as a child or less of an adult than the rest of the Hex. It is very clear he's written in a (assuming, no need to clarify from DE because it already resonates) AuADHD code.
As someone in the spectrum it is extremely hurting to see people making said assumptions. I am used to be seen and dismissed from important conversations just because I have a bubbly personality (and I'm read as a woman, but that's another topic) and clear autistic traits.
The fact someone behaves in a certain way doesn't mean people have the right to reduce them to a child. Again, it is extremely damaging, rude and plain ignorant. You don't know how my mind works. You don't know the complexity of it all. I don't know everything and I give people the benefit of the doubt and I try to be as nice as possible in the healthiest way for everyone involved with me.
That doesn't mean I'm naive or have a less complex thought process than you.
So, yeah, I am begging people who are making these kind of assumptions to stop infantilizing people in the spectrum. Not sure if the right word is ableist, in *MY* specific case I don't consider it a disability, but for sure it is rude as fuck in my opinion.
Oh and also my Drifter is going to bang him 💅
I am keeping my expectations realistic about what we will get in game, but there will be nasty in my sketchbook. Cope with it.
Yet again, in a more jokinly/positive tone, DE passively calling me out *again*, this time with the Volt 'tysm. I projected my gender (before I realized my identity) in my tenno, then forgot about their hair color and tinted mine purple before my break with the game, and now this.
Me Volt/Amir

Hot take: Leandros is even more autistic than all the other Space Marines and he's bonded with Titus and really only wants the best for him. (Source: my interactions with my friends) Unfortunately, he is not the best judge of what is best for Titus. He's also clearly a competent Astartes if he was made chaplain.
I'm fine with this explanation. Titus got more of the ADHD part of the auADHD cocktail inherent in all Astartes, which explains why he is how he is. That is usually a good trait to have in a captain, so they make shit happen. But for a chaplain, you need that lawful autism for maximum effect. (I mean, just memorising that much of the codex is going to be wild).

Autistic Anime Girls Group 1 Match 30
Tumblr media
SUBMISSION PROPAGANDA:
Clara -
"- auADHD (coded) icon - (for example, struggles to read social cues, has hyperactivity, struggles to pick up social norms, has poor concentration, has special interests, verbally stims, infodumps etc...)
- is immensely adorable - exemplifies the relatable autistic/auADHD/ADHD experience of being deemed annoying, alienated, taken advantage of and discredited by your peers
- is a subversion of the 'neurodivergent-coded comic relief character' trope through the story still treating her with respect. for example... the protagonist condemns how others treat her. Clara condemns how others treat her
- she is befriended by the protagonist because he genuinely enjoys her company and likes her as a person. she becomes one of the three main characters and has the arcs, development and plot relevance that goes along with this. she is treated as a potential love interest all whilst retaining the auADHD traits that usually exclude female characters from this role in media
- she has sentient slippers
- irrespective of any flaws that can be argued Clara has as autistic (and/or ADHD) representation, it is genuinely healing to see a character with a culmination of traits many people are bullied for be explicitly presented as underserving of said bullying AND have the very traits that are often the subject of neurotypical ire be a part of why she is loved both in-universe and out
-lastly, and most importantly, Clara and her family do flashmob choreographed musical numbers."
Nagi -
"Nagi has a special interest in a game called EleStra (which she has managed to get two of her friends into) and talks in a more unusual, verbose way. She's very perceptive of people's emotions to the point that she refuses to talk to her teammate because he was faking his cheery façade. Said perceptiveness also manifested into a special ability- to dive into people's minds and see their thoughts. I also just really like her and she's just like me for real."

Judicial wasn’t something that appeared by himself, friends and others called him it and said the name fit him, he didn’t understand completely why he was being called such a name, nor did he understand, (he is like a judge, and goes by justice and law stuff grrr) and I guess he’s judicial, even if he was apart of his old team they called him that because he did things and acted like a judge but never really realized, he was still nice to them but if they did something wrong like damn… but Orchid surely cannot be Judicial for that long yeah, things often change, for the best, and for the worst, nothing ever stays the same.
He has to run away and hide of his past eventually of course! so, that’s what he does, he left everything he had, everything he made and built all behind, he soon changed a lot about himself and made sure he got rid of the people from his past even if it was hard and he didn’t want to, but even if he tried to get rid of some people he just simply couldn’t get rid of them, even if he was held at gun point,
But soon this man somehow ended up being in a taskforce he thought he’d never even be in, he didn’t understand how but he did soon realize why after he heard a lot about the captain and how Laswell knew him well, and he heard from the whispers around base how captain price picked up a new stray, they talked as if it was so normal, either way he was placed into work so quickly, not that he cared, a lot. It was better than orchid sitting in absolute silence, in his dark room, having old memories replaying in his head, sounds replaying, some he wanted to try and at least remember but honestly? He couldn’t.
But during one of the missions, the team and him were walking throughout the forest, the wilderness of all things for said mission yeah, but when they were walking through flowers, orchids. He started screaming and panicking, his screams were filled with terror and they didn’t know what was going on with him, with orchid, he has a heavy phobia of bugs, and there were bugs on the flowers, and on him, the others couldn’t see it of course but orchid could. And he tweaked the fuck out completely, afterwards they started calling him orchid, because all they seen was orchid, screaming and being terrified of the orchid flowers, and every single time he tried telling them it was the stupid damn bugs, they were just “Yeah totally uh-huh, yeah we hear you.” And so every time they bring it up (they even go as far as pretending there is a flying bug near him or coming at him) and it tweaks him the fuck out completely, and mind you, he’s a grown man rounding up to his late 20s to early 30s. He’s just, special. (Literally he literally had AuADHD because I say so!!! *I like giving my persona characters traits of myself*)

Obviously the art style WILL NOT STAY THE SAME BECAUSE EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRAW IT CHANGES BUT IM UPDATING THE ART SO PLS WISJEJD
He still doesn’t know what he’s doing but he’s making friends, new friends, meeting new people, he does suffer from a lot of issues and mental health stuff but he’s trying his hardest to work on himself, and well if you read the tags (OK SOME I PUT BC I NEED PEOPLE TO SEE THIS) and look at the last one you see very well what I have in store for him (who knows I might change the outcome for roach and him, but yeah it says he is a love interest, but I might plan to kill him off so Orchid continues to suffer and be alone, Makarov is involved in this a lot.)
I also tried the texts somewhat faded but not too faded so you are able to read what it says, I might make a docs abt him soon but I like drawing and talking abt lore for him when I do so, since it’s more fun but I will definitely do more stuff that includes my stardew valley farmer oc and this oc of mine (I’m getting good with the mark)
And also he was like young when he loses his spouse because it was like years ago so when he joins the 141 he’s like, in his late 20s to early 30s and this is basically getting into his backstory, also he has sessions where he has to basically talk to Laswell about Makarov and everything he knows abt him because, (listen even if he’s apart of the team he still has to because it’s Makarov? It’d be weird to hold out information of knowing him) but he still knew Makarov nonetheless, having him talk and tell them stuff abt Makarov, but not almost everything, some of it is just too personal for him to share with the team.

Adafsfsgs I'd been thinking lately how my AuADHD ass is literally addiction resistant, and how I've been getting super into a couple gacha games and just how *easy* it's felt to avoid spending money.
Like damn here's these games I literally want to play daily to keep up with but my brain still won't always do that. Literally holding myself to the daily check in schedule in Star Rail is how I established some sort of mental routine to get me out of a depression.
I've been kinda wondering if it's just the ADHD or what that makes me such a happy free-to-player when I like the game, so this is super interesting.

autistic rwby hcs
ive been seeing a lot of autistic rwby hcs so here's some of my own :)) it's very unorganized so good luck (totally was not projecting throughout all of this)
RUBY - the autistic silly ever i love her sm. we already see in the show, even the manga she's crazy obsessed with weapons so I'll take that as either her special interest or hyperfixation. i like to hc that when she was little she rambled abt weapons to mainly yang, but when she went to beacon she began talking abt them more to blake. sometimes even weiss would listen (but again, mainly blake). ALSO ruby cannot understand social cues for her LIFE (me fr). This is a common trait many autistic people share. Overall, she has trouble communicating and interacting with others in v1. In one of the first few episodes (ep 2 i think) she seems to oppose the idea of making new friends when Yang brings it up. This could hint at a small disliking for change (that she eventually learns can be a good thing). when she was younger i like to imagine that ruby wouldn't really have a sense of fear, and would often get herself into dangerous situations that yang or summer had to pull her out of. impulsive ruby perhaps. probably a clumsy little kid too. now these are just hcs so i hc ruby as a leg bouncer. i think she'd stim the most out of all of rwby and just can't keep still no matter what (maybe AuADHD ruby rose idk just an idea). I think ruby would enjoy hand-flapping when she's excited, and she's usually bouncing on her toes or swaying on her feet bc shes so restless. chewing her nails too when she's anxious. I like the idea that ruby would sit down and rock herself when she's distressed (again, totally not projecting). hc that ruby would also despise eye contact. also i think ruby would absolutely hate the texture of eggs, idk why. ruby also has meltdowns from time to time, but they increase in numbers the closer they get to v9 and worsen. ALSO ALSO ALSO ruby has trouble controlling her volume, incorrect pitch tone and speed. basically ruby is very autistic to me :D
WEISS - weiss is a trickier one tbh but I CAN SEE IT. ok so yknow that one time in v2 (or 3 idk) where weiss wont shut up abt the vytal festival and remnant world history n stuff. and that other time she starts talking to ruby abt vale's communication tower and the history behind it. i know she's probably just invested in that stuff bc shes weiss and she was also from another country (atlas), but STILL. i think she would hyperfixate on that stuff. she would like to just compile the weirdest most random facts ever abt the world around her and just start spouting them out at everybody bc it makes her so happy. this makes people think she's a know-it-all though, so :( which also leads into my hc that weiss was forced to mask her autism for a LONG time in Schnee Manor. her father thought she had some "illness" and took the ableist route (sounds familiar). i think this would lead to weiss being insecure abt her autism and having that sinking feeling of needing to be "fixed". dw, weiss begins to embrace and accept her autism the more time she spends with rwby :) also, even if weiss is pretty sarcastic herself i think she had trouble understanding sarcasm back at beacon. she got a little better at deciphering it over the next few volumes but ultimately she has trouble sussing it out sometimes. i also think that weiss would bounce her leg when she's nervous, probably twirl her pencil. her voice gets noticeably higher in the show when she's excited (like when she met with Winter), so i hc that she squeals when shes super happy. she would enjoy organizing as well. maybe she'd even use singing as a vocal stim. at first, i think weiss would've hated being touched, but then she shifts to be absolutely touch-starved. (she likes yang and ruby's hugs the best bc the deep pressure calms her) and also we all know weiss probably sucked at making friends if she ever had the opportunity. she probably also is crazy good at spotting even the smallest details and observations and stuff. ive also considered bpd weiss but y'all arent ready for that discussion
BLAKE - now i'll be honest: i haven't actually thought abt autistic blake a lot. the thought kinda just skimmed my mind im sorry ;w; but we all know blake would hyperfixate on her books. a bunch. ngl she'd probably be that one person in the fandom writing a whole lot of fanfics idk why. maybe she had a small hyperfixation for wildlife and nature when she was little. i can see her being one of those kids who enjoyed playing in the grass and collecting bugs in Menagerie. in the show (beacon arc) we do know that blake is more reserved and it takes a while for her to trust, and its probably bc of her past relationship with adam but shhhhh. BUT at the beginning of v1 we do notice that blake prefers to be alone, and this is different from the whole 'running away bc she thinks she's endangering everyone else' thing. like, at the beginning of v1 she's implied to be mildly annoyed at yang's attempts to befriend her, and she immediately walks away from ruby the first time they met. many autistic people prefer to be alone and blake may have been one of those people. again, just my hcs. i think blake would've had a slightly similar case to weiss, masking her autism around adam. (but less extreme and she stopped masking earlier than weiss.) ghira and kali probably got her diagnosed at a young age, so blake's always been aware of her autism and overall, she doesn't have a big problem with it. i think (mainly post v9) blake would sometimes purr or like yknow hum to soothe herself. i can also see her organizing and rearranging stuff. she would also run her fingers and twirl her hair a bunch. i also think blake would be the most affected from loud noises, and she owns a pair of modified cat-ear headphones for this. blake's social battery is drained pretty easily too.
YANG - haven't thought of her that much either ;w; but i think her special interest would be motorcycles or smth like that. similar to blake, maybe she was obsessed with nature at some point, like bugs and birds. i think yang would also find comfort in deep pressure. probably owns a heavy-weighted blanket (she and ruby would cuddle up underneath it when they were both overwhelmed as kids). yang probably bounces her leg too when she's nervous, maybe taps her fingers on the desk or chews her pencil. i think yang would also struggle with managing her emotions and has several methods to calm herself down. oh and yeah i think yang would've been diagnosed at a young age. she doesn't really know whats "wrong" with her at first, but comes to accept her autism pretty easily after that. when she was little i think she had a rough time making friends. she was always too loud and couldn't control her volume. taiyang has always made an effort to understand yang's autism and tries to help her in any way he can (yang gets a little annoyed by it). oh no yang is a hard one too uhhhh lemme think. yang would've loved certain sweet, flowery smells and fluffy textures as a kid, and often went to them seeking comfort. maybe scented pillow or smth. i think she would've also been those kids to carry around a comfort object like a stuffed animal everywhere (ruby does this too). probably one of those kiddos to also get hurt a lot, so summer would have to patch her up almost every day after school. yang learns to be more careful and watchful of her steps later on. i feel like yang would also be kinda picky abt what clothes and fabric she wears bc of the texture.
my brain juices are dead so those are my autistic rwby hcs. uhm yay bye help this took hours for some reason even though nobody is gonna see this lol

Autistic headcanons make me uncomfortable. I'm the auadhd bitch ever, but I dislike autistic headcanons. Wow the character that's single is autistic because autistic people don't have sex? Oh wow this guy has a hobby so he's autistic and now that's his only personality trait. Ob hey this girl is awkward she's autistic too. Don't even get me started on characters that are way more obviously adhd but no they're autistic actually.
I know this is stupid, I never tell people their headcanons are invalid, but it’s very obviously a trend.

Since it's Sunday and the topic of the this day is always centered around dating, sexuality/gender preferences, etc., here's some thoughts about this guy:
Dating/getting romantically involved with Proton is a really complicated process. There's definitely an allure and curiosity that comes with him because of his status in the underground, and his unique, attractive features. It's understandable why people are drawn to Proton.
Keeping him as healthy company requires understanding that he is mentally ill and physically disabled.
There are a lot of things that he can and cannot do, depending on the day and whether or not his Fragmentation Syndrome is flaring up. Physical touch and activity can be extremely painful for him on low functioning days. He needs to be able to trust that his partner is going to be patient and help him.
Mentally, Proton has many traits of AuADHD, and has experienced a lot of physical and mental trauma related to racism, prejudice, food insecurity, poverty, violence and assault. His coping mechanisms aren't exactly the healthiest. He's prone to lashing out and getting defensive, both verbally and physically, if he feels as though he is unsafe, or someone is getting combative.
Anybody who Proton would consider a partner, needs to understand these things, and be willing to create safe and comfortable boundaries for both parties in order to have a fulfilling relationship with the guy.
In terms of where he lands on the gender/sexuality spectrum? It's something that Proton is still unpacking. He grew up with a lot of toxic and misogynistic beliefs that he has had to unlearn. Someone on the outside looking in would probably classify Proton as pansexual, but he hasn't come to that conclusion yet. He just uses the word 'queer'. He's attracted to people with queer lifestyles. Gender expression is also complicated to him; unlearning gender roles and stereotypes for clothing, behavior and appearance is an ongoing task. Interestingly enough, he has had an easier time expressing himself since his accident. Something about a near-death experiences forced him to live a little more authentically. He uses He/Him pronouns, but, They/Them would probably apply to him in the future once he feels more secure in being "different," so to speak.
In terms of building for the future? He's very unlikely to want to start a family. He's actually unable to reproduce because of Fragmentation Syndrome, for starters, but he already has a difficult enough time taking care of himself to begin with. And he doesn't take to children at all. Sure, he interacts with younger characters from time to time, but, he has no paternal drive. He's also unlikely to pursue potential partners if they have their own children already.
All in all, it takes work with Proton, like it does with anybody else. But there's some specifics that needed to be invested in for someone to achieve a long-term dynamic with the guy.
HOOK UPS THOUGH? That's easy. Just don't expect him to call you back unless he really liked you.

Today I was able to piece together a few things. There absolutely ARE ways to interface with Lusamine in a positive way, and get her to like you, or at least be neutral about you:
She respects people who are very invested in their passions, work and objectives, and those who are even a bit maddened for them; she views this as a good trait, and believes that there is such thing as a healthy level of obsession.
It's easier for her to communicate with people who are somewhere on the AuADHD spectrum, especially if they are as blunt and straightforward as her. Clear and forward communication about intentions is the best way to achieve something with Lusamine; she will not drop hints or beat around the bush, so to speak, and will not feed into someone who isn't capable of being upfront.
Strong problem solving skills and the ability to concede when they are incorrect (or to be able to speak up and advocate for themselves when they are correct) is a major plus.
A shared intrigue in her special interests doesn't hurt.
Left-brained dominant people are easier for Lusamine to conduct conversation with. She is logical and takes questions literally; abstract and artistic thought challenges her at times, but someone who is more right-brain oriented could still get along with her if they are able to frame those lofty thoughts and intentions in a more direct way.
She is low-to-no empathy and pretty mechanical with verbalizing. What she says is what she means. Approaching her with high emotions or while experiencing mental instability isn't ideal. Lusamine is not a reactionary woman, and if you go into a conversation with her with the intention of antagonizing, with the goal of getting a strong, emotional reaction, you are not going to get that. If anything, she is going to utilize this to her advantage, and instead get that from you.

Projecting my own AuADHD traits onto Dandelion:
Oftentimes when he's super absorbed in his work or reading or going down a rabbit hole he'll completely forget to eat or drink and ends up staying awake until like 3-4am. Geralt has, after his initial concerns, gotten used to this and will just pull him away from what he's doing to shove food and water at him or manhandle him into very firm cuddling to make him sleep

AuADHD Traits in Dirk Gently - S1E3 - Rogue Walls Enthusiasts
Hold on thight, this is a much longer one!
S1E1: Horizons
S1E2: Lost and Found
- Farah looks around the “room” she was stuck in previously and looks around intently, then says: “Take me to the house” in a very serious tone. Dirk then looks at Todd and does a thumbs up very enthusiastically while smiling really widely, meanwhile Todd and Farah look very defeated - he has a hard time “reading the room” and reacting “appropriately” due to the misread of tone/situations
 - “I spoke to the police!” (in a tone indicating enthusiasm and importance), “What did they say?”, “...go away.” - trouble with intonation/expressing himself in a way that implies something else.
- “I gave the bad guys my number” “You gave them your number?” “In self defense!” - same as before, his tone indicates purpose to Farah and Todd, and then he explains what he meant and they’re confused. In the same scene, Rimmer’s number is saved as “bad gun man”, which is both funny but also very relatable, because of the hard time we have remembering things, it’s very common for us to save numbers as name + where we know the person from to facilitate identification
*- Farah says in a very stressed out tone, “Everything I own is there [Spring’s mansion], my clothes, my gun-”, giving examples of why it’s important to her to go back there. Dirk immediately replies: “You look good” smiling and in a reassuring tone, misreading Farah’s concern to be about her appearance (more obvious) VS what she means subtextually (her life is in the mansion)
- When Todd freaks out unexpectedly, Dirk gets very startled and looks from Todd to the way Farah went back and forth about four times very quickly - unexpected changes can be very confusing / hard to process
*-  Right after that, Dirk and Todd have the following dialogue: “Wait a moment!” / “What?” / “Are you… mad at me?” - it’s incredibly hard to read other’s emotions, especially when in relation to us. Dirk takes a moment to check in to clear things up because he isn’t sure where Todd stands about him.
Then, when Todd answers “Yes– No– I don’t know. I don’t know what I am at you”, Dirk reacts very positively, saying “Good” and patting Todd’s shoulder, immediately running away to Farah after “resolving” the situation and taking Todd’s confusion to be best than a very certain “I’m mad at you” - It can be reassuring to be told someone isn’t angry at us when reading other’s tone and intentions/reactions is so hard, especially from someone who means a lot to us.
Not a Dirk scene, but something I find important to mention. In between Dirk scenes, we get to see a conversation between Col. Riggins and Friedkin where Riggins says: “Blackwing had one mission: to seek out, codify and collect individuals with sensory perceptive abilities beyond the normal human range”. Meanwhile, Dirk repeatedly states throughout the show and especially to B.W. agents that “This isn’t how it works, this isn’t how I work!” and they never ever take him seriously, believing themselves to know better than the subjects do about themselves and their abilities.
With that in mind, I draw an important parallel between how Black Wing works and how the ableist medical community works, specially in the timeframe where Dirk would have been in when he was in being held by them - With blackwing being created in 1988, the general belief that Dirk is in his 30s, and Dirk being one of the original subjects, that places his captivity in the 80s-00s, being there from about age 5 until 12 years old and getting out in 2000, because with the show happening in 2016, and when Riggins confronts him at the Ridgley Dirk says: It’s been 16 years, that’s a general timeline.
TRIGGER WARNING FOR FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH: ABLEISM, THERAPY TO “CURE” US
xxxxxx
All of this to say that the way Black Wing is shown to operate both in S1 and S2, with tests, general subhuman conditions, “exposure” therapy, electric shocks, cruel testing and impossible standards, I see a very big connection with how some facilities and programs conduct behavioral “therapy” towards autistics, now too but even more so in the timeframe Dirk was a subject originally. The similarities, albeit in a very sci-fi esque aesthetic so to speak, are clear between black wing’s “program” and ABA “therapies”/Experiments/”Research”.
xxxxxx
Continuing on, Farah and Dirk going to the Spring mansion:
- Dirk doesn’t swing his arms when he’s walking, very common in autistic people and neurodivergent people in general because of our commonly comorbid lack of motor skills + different center of balance from neurotypicals which means we don’t usually need to move our arms when walking to “balance out” our leg movements because we also tend to walk differently.
*- “You’ve never met him” / “Yes, he seems like someone I’ve never met” - Very funny line but also very relatable when you realize Dirk constantly makes “small talk” by stating the obvious.
- “Isn’t that… Interesting”, Says Spring’s lawyer, to which Dirk promptly replies: “I get that a lot” - I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told the exact same thing or similar stuff, whether neurotypicals consciously realize this or not they seem to pick up very quickly we’re not like them on a very fundamental basis and WILL give backhanded compliments such as saying we’re interesting or quirky or anything like that. It took me a WHILE to realize this is what was happening and that they usually never mean it in a positive way.
*- When Spring’s lawyer gives Farah the letter saying that Spring instructed him to only give it to Farah when in the presence of someone named Dirk Gently, he says “Well it’s lucky I’m here then!” in a very chipper tone.
Then, when Farah is having a breakdown and tell him she didn’t think he was still in the room, he says “Why would I leave the room? All of the good stuff is happening in here!”, and only THEN does he pay closer attention to how Farah is and asks “Were you and Patrick… close?” - He has a really hard time “reading the room” as I’ve said, and specially in relation to things that he considers more “obvious” like the case he’s working on.
AND THEN, when Farah says she is a bunch of negative things, Dirk goes, tentatively, “No, no, listen, you’re only SOME of those things” and she reacts by letting out a scream and sitting down forcefully, and he becomes even more unsure of how to act, starts trembling and pats Farah’s shoulder and then pokes it, gives up and sits down next to her. - It’s very hard to comfort people when you have a hard time reading other’s emotions, and I think that although Dirk didn’t do a very good job on comforting Farah he did try his best in a confusing situation to him, and ended up helping her nonetheless, taking us to:
*- “I don’t know anything, ever. It’s really quite relaxing. It’s how I work, I..follow fate around. It’s how I found you.” - there is a LOT of freedom in accepting you’ll most likely never have the in’s and out’s of reading others and that you can really only try your best in navigating life without having all the pieces other’s seem to have access to.
- When Farah opens the envelope Spring left her Dirk YOINKS it from her, then when he reads the “You” says “This doesn’t look like you, he’s got the hair all wrong!” - very funny moment and also shows two traits: impulsivity and literal thinking.
*- When they’re trying to follow the map, he nervously follows Farah around in the most autistic way of walking ever, it’s so relatable it’s comical honestly, the slight tip toeing, swinging side to side, just !!! he’s just like us fr
*- Farah starts analyzing the wall and he goes on a rant trying to figure out what she’s doing, interpreting the way she’s acting very literally, “It’s a wall.. Did he enjoy walls? Did ever mention a LOVE for walls-” and immediately SCREAMS and jumps backwards when Farah makes a loud noise by breaking the fake wall down with the iron, trembling the whole time - sound seems to be one of his most intense sensory triggers.
*- “How… did you do that?” / “With my hand!” - He’s SO literal I love him
*- “Dirk? I’m starting to think you’re actually a pretty good detective” - his face goes, rapidly: happy, proud, he shakes his head, aloof, uncaring.   Dirk frequently schools his expressions out, trying to make the “correct” face in regards to the situation at hand, which shows two different things: he has a hard time figuring out right away which one is the “correct” expression AND he has been conditioned to think his initial reactions are always wrong/unnaceptable.
*- When Todd reaches Amanda after running to her house, he says “Dirk doesn’t know anything. In fact, the amount of things he doesn’t know are stupefying” - slightly ableist although it makes sense within context where Dirk knows a lot of things about “random” or seemingly (to others) unimportant stuff but has a hard time with “simple” (to others) concepts/things
- Autistic funny AND sarcastisc moment when Dirk goes “Oh.. is that why you’re here?” when Todd states that this is MY apartment.
- Amanda says, “I don’t go out much”, and Dirk says: “Me neither!” - it’s common for us to not really go out that much because going out can be very overwhelming in many many ways
- When he and Todd have the discussion on the hallway, he’s very direct and vulnerable with Todd, even if he doesn’t know him THAT well, saying “I want your help”, for example, instead of just hinting at it or dancing around the subject just because it’s a hard one - we’re often direct with our intentions/feelings
- As he goes downstairs after convincing Todd to help him and to get the everbulb from his car, he does a little celebration by jumping a bit and pumping his fists, which isn’t NECESSARILY a stim but could be read as one! - stim: from “stimulation”, when we do repetitive things based on the major five senses to express happiness and also regulate our emotions, like jumping or singing for example.
- When confronted by Riggins and Friedkin he has a ‘slight’ meltdown and after getting tackled holds onto the stairwell’s bars, shaking. - I do know it’s a common reaction given the situation but also fits pretty well with mine and other autistic people’s experience in regards to what our specific reactions to overwhelming situations can look like.
As always thank you for reading and let me know if you want to be tagged in future posts/When I make the masterpost after finishing all of the episodes! I took a long time from E2 to this one because I changed jobs and had a really hard time adapting but am now more stable and have a bit more of free time!

You know, I never considered I could have Autism bc it's so much different from ADHD and I never saw any major traits in my behavior, but somehow I relate often to autistic experiences even tho those are very specific?
Tbh maybe I have both, and recently i saw ppl saying that both neurotypes often don't mix in equal proportion, so it's realistic to have like, mostly ADHD with a bit sprinkle of Autism on top.
I'm gonna laugh if this the case, this would explain why I feel like I have some unknown and severe type of ADHD bc how often those advises designed to help ADHD ppl just don't work on me.
So i wonder if there any resources how to deal with AuADHD?

Hey Karlach, I'm a Scorpio with a Libra moon and Ascendant Leo. My good traits include my open mindedness, creativity, my readiness to laugh, I would say I'm funny also, my self-confidence, as well as the ability to inspire it in others, and my intelligence. Some bad traits include my laziness, my bluntness, my lack of ability to formulate my words in a way so it doesn't hurt others, my occasional love of bad fortune for others, lack of planning and general apathy. I love being dramatic for the sake of bring dramatic, and also like these things called video games and writing poetry. I like writing in general, and world building. I'm bisexual but lean mostly guys, and I also look very androgynous. I also tend to be more dominant and loud. I'm diagnosed with depression, ADHD, and autism. Some people I like are you, Astarion, Gale, Wyll, Shadowheart, Lae'zel is a bit iffy, and also Aradin if you remember him. Love you girlie
Karlach smashes her fist on a table, and screams. "ZEVLOR
Ok, now that I'm calm, I think you and zevlor would make such a lovely couple. He'd thrive next to you and you'd thrive next to him.
I believe you two could bring out the best out of each other.
Zevlor has failed his people multiple times, sometimes accidentally and sometimes volountarily, but one thing that doesn't change is the guilt that plagues him.. you positivity, your capability to inspire, your confidence would push him to be a better person. He'd definitely try and incite you out of the laziness, whether he suggests to join you, body double you or just gives you moral support. "You can do it, love".
He doesn't mind blunt people cause he knows he needs a reality check way more than what he likes to admit, nevertheless he accepts you just the way you are, lack of drive included.
He might not directly cause drama himself, but around him there's always something happening. It's like he's a magnet for drama.
If you are with him while drama starts to unfold he'd stay next to you, his voice low as he shares his opinion on the situation, while if you are not with him when it happens, he makes sure to tell you everything he found as soon as he steps past the front door of your house.
He'd be very endeared by videogames, in fact he's the one asking you to teach him, rather than the other way, and he'd love spending hours playing with you, even though you always beat him.
He loves poetry, though in elturel he didn't have much time for it, but if you write him a poem, he's definitely gonna keep it always with him, like a good luck charm.
He's understanding about your auADHD and your depression, in fact he makes sure he always has a sensory toy with him, that you have safe foods at home, that the clothes, towels, bed sheets are always of materials that won't trigger you, like HE'S GONNA GO ALL THE WAY TO MAKE SURE YOU CONSIDER YOUR HOUSE A SAFE SPACE.

“i'm just annoyed because you'd think they'd listen to someone who lives with autism - i know what i'm talking about!!”
Any medical papers online (BMJ) whose extracts might show the likelihood of siblings both being autistic / on the spectrum?
You could then write siting research stats and approach the head teacher in advance of getting a referral/diagnosis?
not sure, tbh. my husband's younger sister is autistic, and we used that in our daughter's diagnosis because it's generally accepted as genetic/hereditary, and girls are hard to get diagnosed because the diagnostic criteria is male-based.
ironically my son exhibits more 'classic traits' than she does, but i think he masks, based on what he's seen her do. i actually think he's auADHD, but fuck me, he's such a smart little git. i watched him name every country in asia on seterra correctly in less than 3 minutes on his first attempt... he got south america in on his first try in 20 seconds. i know a special interest when i see one.

THIS SO SO MUCH.
And there could be a reason for people doing this!
In my previous reblog about this I mentioned severe untreated OCD... and this ties in with that, it could also be part of being Neurodivergent, a form of Synesthesia, or extreme sensitive according to Google.
You know how kids have attachments to their toys and stuffed animals and think they have feelings and if they throw them or hit them they instantly feel bad? Sometimes that extends to adulthood for various reasons. I attribute feelings to my stuffed animals and I treat them with care and respect because I actually believe/feel they have feelings. My rational mind KNOWS they are objects, but my emotions feel otherwise, hence why I treat them the way I do: I brush them out, give them lukewarm baths, make sure any tear or wear is fixed, etc.
One could argue that anyone who cares about their stuff and wants to extend the life of that stuff will do this right? Yes, but when someone attributes feelings and human traits to things this takes on a whole new meaning. You're actually caring for "someone", even it's not a someONE but a someTHING.
Why does this happen? Usually it's a comfort thing due to trauma, but it can come with mental illness or mental disorders that make it hard for the person to connecto to other humans.
In my case it's due to the BPD, possible AuADHD, and the OCD, the BPD and possible AuADHD make me overly sensitive to everything around me and I can't connect to people that easily even though I love having friends; so for ages I connected to my stuffed animals and they were my friends. And the OCD only makes that reaction and attitude worse because of the intrusive thoughts. Through therapy I've learned that yes, stuffies are object but that I also can love them with all my heart and that's okay. What's not okay is to obsess over them as if they were real people and to learn to create connections with other humans. I also have two forms of synesthesia, grapheme-colour and ordinal linguistic personification, the latter making this personification of my stuffies even more pronounced.
Okay enough about me; sorry, I just needed to put myself as an example so I could more or less explain how these things work.
As you can see, this is a natural phenomenon in children that can extend towards adulthood.
How does this affect fandom and how characters are view you may ask? Simple.
PEOPLE ARE ATTRIBUTING HUMAN/PERSONAL TRAITS TO CHARACTERS, WHICH AREN'T HUMAN (NOT HUMANS AS A SPECIES, BUT HUMANS AS IN IRL HUMAN BEINGS) AND ARE OBJECTS LIKE DOLLS.
General Fandom spaces are full of people who use them as a coping mechanisms and community hubs to meet people. A TON of us are ND or have trauma or mental problems that make it hard for us to connect to others so we resort to fictional characters and the fandoms that follow them for that. Sadly due to how common drama is in fandom so so many of us end up not having a circle of friends, irl or online, with whom to discuss our interests, effectively isolating us a little in our fandoms. What do we resort to then? THE CHARACTERS THEMSELVES.
When mental health problems go unchecked and someone is what we call chronically online, or has problems connecting to real humans and spends most of their time logged into the net and not really having conversations and interactions, stuff like Personification can be exacerbated to the point where we are now; where people can't see the difference between a real human and a character.
AND THIS IS VERY SAD. What does it say about us as a society when the last two generations have gone through this and the two new ones are doubling down on it?? What does it say about how we connect to the people around us?? What does it say about how we as a society and species manage trauma and mental health?!
And that's where purity culture and antis enter: THEY SEE PEOPLE DOING PERSONIFICATION AND THEY TAKE THAT TO PUSH THEIR WEIRD PURITY AGENDA ONTO THEM, TRYING TO FORCE FANDOMS TO BE AS "NOBLE" AND "GOOD PEOPLE" AS THEY THINK THEY ARE. And these are mostly conservative people who are ticked off by what they deem "too different". The way intrusive thoughts, kinks, dark thoughts, etc is treated currently is APPALLING, "this speaks more about you as a person!" really?! Honey, NO. People are allowed to explore the darkest deepest confines of their inner selves IN A SAFE AND NOT RISKY MANNER THROUGH IMAGINATION. Who are you to stop them from doing that? Do you actually think everyone who is like this is a serial killer or rapist?! Do you know how rare those truly are? And do you actually know how incredibly "normal" real rapists appear? Ask me, I'll tell you how "normal" they look.
In truth, treating fandoms and character this way protects nobody and puts nobody in their places but EFFECTIVELY MAKES IT DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE TO KNOW REALITY FROM FICTION AND OPENS THE DOOR FOR MORE ABUSERS TO CONTINUE ABUSIVE UNCHECKED. Plus it makes mentally ill people way more vulnerable to manipulation...
I'm sorry I rambled, I hope it makes sense, but... I just wanted to put this out there, see if anyone agrees and what others think of it. I feel that this explains at least in some part what's been happening to Fandom in the last like 15-20 years...
I really think everyone needs to truly internalize this:
Fictional characters are objects.
They are not people. You cannot "objectify" them, because they have no personhood to be deprived of. They have no humanity to be erased. You cannot "disrespect" them, because they are not real.

basically, I’ve been ‘diagnosed’ as having many traits associated with those who have ASD by my therapist and have been waiting the majority of the year to have an assessment. this has been heavy for me to bare alone. I’ve gotten a lot of diagnoses within this year that it’s been hard for me to deal with. Bad migraines, IBS, PCOS, possible AuADHD.. I don’t even know. I’ve often felt alone and it’s been hard. Mostly because if I talk to my family members about autism or possibly having it, I’m seen as delusional and that I’m making a problem for myself. My mother says I’m going to be sectioned but that I’m evil. My grandmother doesn’t believe in autism as she can ‘cure it’ or that it was brought into the family from an outside influence. It’s already hard for me having my father’s last name and not my mother’s family’s as they use that as a badge to idek pick on me if I say something they don’t like or to be one of them if I do something good. Idek. I don’t understand all this familial politics bc I just want to live my life and I’m fed up of it all. I can’t tell no one I’m possibly autistic. My grandmother is disappointed I have PCOS and might not have a grandchild. I just feel dead.
