In it, Izzy experiments with pixie dust, mixing a lot of things with it to see what comes from it and accidentally creating a virus that eventually takes over Neverland. Both her and Cubby, alongside Flynn and Pip, are the only survivors trying to find a cure.

And she's wordlessly handing off notes to Dave, and Dave doesn't say anything but she knows he's going to keep them in a little drawer and one day, while on a quest to figure out how each drawer fits into the metal guardrails, Dirk will happen upon them. and she sends Jade letters about what Jake will do on his tenth birthday, and she can't see the old woman but she knows she's reading it while Jake, age two, toddles about the pumpkin patch where they're picknicking, and she sends letters to John but he never replies and she knows he doesn't believe her, but maybe one day he will, and maybe he'll leave something for Jane too.

But the flashes she gets of Roxy? Those are for Rose and Rose alone.

How do Jake and June get along?

its... complicated? <;D

They are friends, don't get me wrong, but their friendship is definitely one of the more bumpier ones amongst the group.

There are some aspects of their relationship that are heavily influenced by some plot points of this AU that I dont want to reveal rn, but I can explain some other reasons why its complicated in broader strokes for now (in a bit of yapping under cut) but the short answer is probably that they get along maybe just a little better than Jenny and Ben. xD

As you know, both of their shows are very similar in many aspects, but also different in others and those differences are actually what makes those two clash more often than not.

Despite both being of magical world, and both being chosen as respective guardians of it - their positions in it are different.

Jun, was chosen by Magical Elders, or basically be magic itself, as Te Xuan Zhe, while she was very young. And while she comes from magical line, its clearly that aside of that she is human. Also, her position is not something she can just abandon, not until a suitable replacement can be chosen at least, and that can take decades until she or her brothers (or maybe other relatives) have more descendants. So she more or less has no choice at being Te Xuan Zhe, and while she doesn't necessarily resent the position itself, she really doesn't like all the restrictions that come with it.

Jake, on the other hand, comes from a line of magical creatures. And yes, not everyone can manifest this hidden magical part of them, like his mother, but they are still considered as part of magical community, since they are still aware of it (unlike Jake's dad who is human). So, while Jake awakened his draconic abilities that are inherently part of him now, his position as protector of New York/USA - is not inherent. We saw him train for that position, we saw Hailey being considered for it, we saw him lose it too! And while, yes the Dragon Council apparently has the power to seal someone's dragon side away if they fire them from that position, but it still doesn't inherently change the fact that he is from dragon line.

The reason why I brought up this seemingly not big of a difference between their positions in the magical community - is the freedom of choice that Jake has and Jun lacks. If it comes to it, Jake can resign from his position as American Dragon, but it would not mean that he would stop being a dragon or being a part of the magical community (I mean just look at retired Lao Shi). While Jun on the other hand doesn't really have a choice at being Te Xuan Zhe. Sure, she can probably return the title to her poor aging Ama, Jasmine or even find a way to pass it to Ray Ray, since their whole entangled magic thing - but it doesn't change the fact that she was chosen by The Magical Elders - by the highest magical authority there probably is - to be Te Xuan Zhe. And if she hadn't, she probably would have not access to magic and knowledge about it - she would have essentially been like the rest of their family - their parents and Dennis (before he learned about magic). This freedom of choice is not necessarilly something Jake and Jun discussed directly and openly very often, but it's a thing that is an almost palpable tension current in their interactions.

So, the second point that kinda spirals from their positions is about the authority and power. Jun, is essentially a boss of herself. It might not seem like it, but its kinda true - because she works mostly under her own power, without the Magical Elders directly breathing down her neck. Sure, Ama, Monroe and others help in guiding her, but more often than not she is not working necessarily under any orders, but on her own decisions. (It's actually a lot like Danny operates, but, well, with a lot more assistance than poor Phantom lol) In comparison, Jake, like I said, is essentially hired/chosen into his guardian position by the Dragon Council, and he is mentored by his grandfather and trained in some aspects by the Council. And while, sure, largely he also operates under his own power and makes his own decisions in regards of doing his job, there is also this constant watching from the Council and the threat of beings 'sacked' and have his powers restricted or completely sealed, like I mentioned before. It seems like such a small difference, since essentially they operate the same, but its another thing that kinda comes up in their interactions.

When it comes to less magical aspects tho, their families play a role in how they interact too. We all know that Jake has a little sister - Hailey, who seems like a perfect youngest child and often is shown to trying to one-up her older brother in the eyes of their parents. And we all know that while Jake and Hailey love and care for each other, the both clearly have sibling issues (like rivalry and feeling of inadequacy) between them. Jun, on the other hand, is a middle child, with a bossy teenaged older brother Dennis, and a chaos gremlin of younger brother Ray Ray. Jun constantly sqwabbles with Dennis (a little less after he learned about magic) and as Ray Ray's older sister, she constantly have to keep him in check. With those close relationships its no wonder that sometimes interactions between Jun and Jake can descend into similar sqabbles - it really doesn't help that Jake and Dennis have a few similarities, and that Jake has just a tiny bit of similar chaos gremlin energy that Ray Ray has; and that Jun is fiercely independant and very self-sufficient, which would remind Jake about how Hailey can be.

And when it comes to their parents, well, there is one super obvious glaring difference. Jake's mother always knew about magical side of the world, presumably that while she did not awaken her own dragon abilities she still possessed some inherant magic - and she had always been a stauch supporter of Jake's position as American Dragon (does not mean she was necessarilly happy about Jake being in danger, but since he awakened as dragon, there probably was little she could do), while Jake's father finally learned about it in the finale and accepted it and his family. Jun's parents on the other hand... are still very much oblivious, and very much human. And while its clear that they both love their kids, its inevitable that there would be some sort of distance between them, especially after all three kids learned about magic. And I feel like for Jun, being a middle child is not easy in general, but while also being a magical protector and staying close to her parents is probably twice as hard. Though, I guess to balance it out, Jake and Hailey are not really that good at getting along, at least compared to Jun, Ray Ray and Dennis, who got a lot closer ever since Dennis learned about magic.

But in conclusion: not only Jake gets a freedom of choice and the open support from his family, while Jun is literally caught in her position, and still prohibited from revealing about magic to her parents.

And I know it sounds a bit bleak for Jun when I put it all like this. I know it seems as a very solid ground for a relationship where Jun resents Jake and etc. but BUT!!!!! Those plot points that I mentioned before come in play, and it changes that relationship dynamic a bit, and while SURE there are some resentment from Jun about Jake, its not as strong, due to those PLOT POINTS THAT I CANT REVEAL BECAUSEEE AAARRRHH SPOILERS

it would be much more fun to reveal in stories ;)

But, so yeah, their relationship is just kinda really complicated??? It's the best I could give you rn. TTwTT

Phoenix and Hangman as Friends-In-Law

AU where Phoenix is with Javy and Jake with Bradley. Phoenix still pretends she doesn't like Jake that much and only deals with him on accounts of being her best friend's husband and her husband's best friend. They are not friends, only friends-in-law.

Both Coyote and Rooster have retired from active duty and have civilian jobs for the Navy, more family friendly 9 to 5s so they can take care of their respective kids.

Phoenix is climbing the ladder Ice-fast, racking up promotions and being highly regarded by everyone.

Hangman is on a very Maverick-like path: he is an unbelievable pilot, but an absolute nuisance that talks back to just about every admiral and pulls insane stunts in the air.

Since they are friends-in-law, Phoenix becomes, in spite of herself, his guardian angel, trying her best to keep him in the cockpit and not have him stripped of his wings. She knows he is a talented pilot, but will never admit it to his face.

Every once in a while Bradley would get a phone call at a weird time of the day and he knows he is in for a forty minute screaming rant from his best friend about YOU KNOW WHAT THAT DAMN HUSBAND OF YOURS DID THIS TIME?!, to which he would patiently listen to whilst starting to bake Phoenix's favourite cake. A couple of hours later he will arrive at the Trace-Machado household where an amused and resigned Coyote is waiting for him and whatever delicious dish he has brought to make sure Phoenix doesn't make a widower out of him.

homestuck au tip: humanstuck AUs can be made 500% more interesting by including the exiles, midnight crew, felt, etc as guardians/mentors. and i know the common route to go with this is have karkat raised by jack but i think we can go even further with it. what if jake was the "grandson" of lord english after being kidnapped from his island as a young boy and was since raised by the felt? what if PM was the one assigned to deliver jade's mail and somehow found out this mail was going to a 7 year old stranded by herself on an island and decided to try and help her? there's a lot you can do with them

i always liked the implication that guardians in homestuck inherit some of their classpect powers, so i leaned onto it in tb as well (with minimal spoilers, g!dave appearing at the right time to assist dirk with entering the medium, g!dirk creating sawtooth, squarewave and g!hal to help out dave in the future, post-scratch guardians kinda falling apart once g!jake is gone (LOSING HOPE U GET ME AHAHAHA *sobs*))

its the same with g!rose. she appears to have a lot of knowledge about the game the kids will play, and uses it accordingly to guide her kid - roxy - and prepare her for it. its not a good thing. her sources are... dubious. she laser focuses so much on the process of making sure everything goes according to her visions, she loses the thread of what she was really supposed to do - be a good guardian to roxy. she assumes all those bad things have to happen to roxy, because thats what her visions show her. roxys suffering is simply ineventable, and it all has to happen to make the session go as its supposed to go.

i think by now its blatantly obvious that mom in turnabout will mirror bro in the og comic. i once answered an ask that inquired if striders will get the rooftop scene, and i said itll be two other characters that get it in tb!au. yep, its gonna be lalondes in this one, fellas

This is also probably a good moment to finally expand more on what the au is about (which is why I added in Mar'i and Jake's there too) since I'm showing them now and also because I've been taking a long while already to make the post about it lol😅

(It's a no capes au btw, meaning everyone's just a normal human here and weren't superheroes in the past)

After tragically losing both Talia and Bruce, Damian is mainly surviving with Dick and Kory, plus the kiddos Mar'i and Jake.

After a very long while of doing just fine, they one day get completely seperated from eachother after getting attacked by a random group of greedy bandits. Damian got stuck with Mar'i and Jake on his side while Dick and Kory were only left with eachother, plus Alfred the cat who they carry around all the time in their backpack.

After seeing that there's no way to really get around and go back to eachother and also noticing that they have to continue running from the large group of bandits who are still after them, Dick quickly hands Damian a map and tells him to travel to the place that's marked on it, telling him that they'll all meet up there and reunite with eachother again. Damian promises to do just that and becomes Mar'i and Jake's new guardian while the three of them are on their own, protecting them both from any kind of danger that's thrown their way no matter what, while staying determined to return to Dick and Kory once again.

After three months later of already moving forward to get to their far destination, Damian, Mar'i, and Jake were resting at a small cabin in the woods for a night until the morning. During that night, Jon later happened to be walking around near their hide out all alone since he was lost. Damian spotted him and wasn't planning on taking any risks by just letting him wander around, in case he was actually someone who was just looking to attack and steal stuff if he found him and his little Nephew and Niece, so he sneakily knocked Jon out and tied him up in the cabin.

Once Jon woke up, Damian and Mar'i both pretended to be cannibals to scare him so that they could get their needed answers out of him to see if he was really just another bad person as expected. Because of this, Jon was terrified and just told them whatever they wanted to know, promising that he wasn't there for any trouble. With this, they saw that he was just a harmless kid just trying to survive like them, so they finally dropped the act and let him know that they were just actually faking it. Jon immediately became even more upsetted by all of this after being told that.

While Damian and Mar'i were distracted talking to eachother about what they were gonna do with him, Jon sneakily got loose from his ties and quickly surprised punched Damian in the gut in anger. Jon quickly stopped though once Mar'i immediately got in the middle of the fight and shoved him away from Damian, yelling "No!" In fear, making him feel a little bad for getting rough in front of the 8 year old girl. Then he soon started to hear Jake crying loudly too and began to feel even more bad for not realizing that there was a baby in the room as well.

That was when Jon got (an angry) explanation from Damian about why they did what they did to him, which was only for their safety. He began to start understanding the reasons behind it after that, but still felt pretty upset about the way it was done.

After some calming down, and for Jake too after being rudely awakened, Jon explains to Damian and Mar'i that he had gotten separated from his group earlier after getting chased down by some herd filled with the undead and is just trying to find his way back to his camp now, but is completely lost.

Damian, remembering he has a map on him and thinking back on how Mar'i and him haven't had much food to eat for days, decides to make a deal with Jon. He tells him that if they help him out, he has to give them some food to take back with them in the end in return. Jon, desperate to get back home and feeling delighted at being offered some help, promises them plenty to eat, so they make a deal. This was the start of their adventure together. (Damian didn't let Jon know about the map though and instead lied to him that he's an expert on traveling in the area, so that he wouldn't reject the deal and also so that he wouldn't think of taking the map from them and just run off with it either)

Along the way, the boys begin to later become good friends (with growing crushes on eachother and later become boyfriends too) and a found family type of thing also starts to grow between Mar'i and Jake with Jon over time too (he becomes like a new Uncle to them).

And after finally getting Jon back home in the end like promised, Jon wants to return the favor by helping Damian out in his own big goal too, just like how he helped him out so much during their little journey together. So the four of them venture out later to look for Dick and Kory like a team.

Phew! Glad that's finally done lol. I really can't wait to see what kind of stuff you decide to draw for the au and am very excited to see them whenever they're ready!!!✨:D (I also have way more stuff about the au, like what happens much later on and also how things started too, but that would just make the post too long lmao)

Heyo! Quick question: Do the HoMies have a common place to meet up/chill/sleep between missions, or they just bust into any of the members' canon houses?

That's a question which kept invading my brain since I discovered your stuff. I'm especially curious on how you'll tackle June being unable to leave Orchid Bay because of her role of protecting her town.

Not really? 😅 They indeed most likely will crash in each other's towns/bases/homes, after a mission/team-up or just to hang out!

Jun is indeed a complicated situation, with her canonically being unable to leave Orchid Bay, but actually in HoM, there is a ... 'development' that allows her to temporarily leave it for a brief time! ;) It's going to be partially covered in Act 2, and more in depth in flashbacks, which I'm actually very excited about, because its one of the more important parts of this AU!

But honestly, besides Jun, others are also very location bound (even if they are not restricted by a magical barrier lol), so each of them would prefer to stay on their own territory for various reasons.

Danny is in or always close by to Amity, because it has a stable portal to the Ghost Zone. Jake is more or less required to stay on East Coast/New York because he is a guardian of one of the most central magical communities on the American Continent (the other major being Orchid Bay aka West Coast).

Kim, Zak, Jenny and Ben all have their solid homebases in their respective towns (or his parents/Saturday's mansion/lab house?? in Zak's case), but they travel a lot for work. Kim and Zak are more Earth bound, while Jenny and Ben also take trips to outer space. But each of them have a place where they can recuperate.

The only vagabond out of the lot is Rex (he is like a total opposite of home bound Jun lol), by circumstances and choice, so he often crashes in one of the other HoMies places, when he doesnt travel.

While I enjoy the AUs where heroes all live/work/chill out together in one complex (remember all those times of 2012 Avengers-live-in-Avenger-tower-domestic-shennanigans?? good times lol), I don't really want HoM AU to be like that, I guess. <;D

I really liked your Pesterquest analysis about Mspa Reader! I'm not the biggest into analyzing stuff because i tend to forget a lot of stuff but I always found so shitty how he just left the kids to be doomed in their planet.

Like unless the Trolls are able to detroy and kill the Condesce, like almost al of them are insta-dead because they tried to rebel, Sollux may be the only one left alive but is hocked into a machine, Ghost Aradia continues to be dead even if they win

Dave and Rose are stuck with their abusive parents until probably adulthood (or maybe early if they leave), Jade is stuck on an island because i'm pretty sure Bec was loosing his powers? Dirk and Roxy are stucked on doomed planet alone with like, Candy Dave as company, so are Jane and Jake now that I think about it if the Condesce attacks (cant remember if that gets resolved in the routes or not) Callie is dead dead. So yeh, it always felt like there's a lot of loose cables about the whole thing (like maybe they'll do something about it?) sorry for the long ask lol

IM SO SORRY FOR GETTING THIS ASK LOST

but yeah that was a thing for me too. like dave's route constantly teased dave being able to move out but then completely went back on it. jade's route insisting that the peace of the night won't last. sollux telling you you haven't solved any problems. it's like. it's fucked. it's a really fucked timeline.

and that's why i've been writing and coding my own version of the timeline!!!!!

my au!!!! my beautiful wonderful au!!! where dave leaves his abusive guardian and jade moves in with john and the trolls like. tell you about the institutional problems and you work with them to try and make their lives good even under the oppression theyre facing. it's complicated!!! clamplicated even!!!!
