here's something that i read today and liked: Atzi. lesbian lizard girl scraping by with little pick-pocketing and buglary. oh, and she's about to wind up in a time loop

something i found really refreshing about this story is how chipper the main character is. is that the word? she's not the brightest, or the luckiest, but she's not only willing to try anyway, but believe she deserves to succeed. it's weird reading about a protagonist who's simultaneously so opinionated yet manages to be so endearing

she's just downright cute! the story goes out of its way to say "lizard" and not "kobold", but like. you can't listen to this girl's internal narration and not immediately pick up on the vibe.

(she's also pretty horny, too - i swear every other woman she encounters has her swooning, but i mean. same.)

the main character is a thief, and i think it's a pretty big point to its credit that first proper "job" she undertakes had me on the edge of my seat as she sneaks around

really interested in seeing where the story goes from here, i've got my eye on it

Atzi is the last person who should be stuck in a timeloop. But a timeloop means pretty women to seduce! Wealth to spend! Magic power to steal! This lizard may be easily distracted, talentless, and lonely, but she's still a looper. A shame she must contend with selfish gods warring, mad mages casting apocalyptic spells, skeletons, demons, and a hole in the sky. The world destroyed, again and again, when all she wants to know… is why her crush killed her.

Valentines gifts headcanons 2

Ocelo hates valentines. Solely because they’re a hater. In truth, they buy themselves matching shirts with Xochi, something along the lines of ‘if found wreaking havoc, please return to wife’ and ‘wife’.

Xochi gets flowers. Duh. But she also makes flower gifts. Those things where you cover them in resin to preserve them forever? Yeah, she does that. Ocelo has a bracelet, and she even made matching ones for the cubs, on collars.

Dezi is very over the top for Valentines. Flowers, teddy bear, chocolate. He also gets things for everyone, though those are a lot tamer. For Marino, he’s getting everything. Blue forget me not’s, a teddy bear holding a personalized message, something stupid and teenager in a relationship mushy, and sea salt chocolates because fuck damnit those things are good

Marino makes sea salt. He gives that to people in different forms, depending on how much he likes you. Dezi gets it in homemade chocolates, Aurelio and the others get it in a giant jar to use for cooking, I like the idea he just has this weird rivalry with Xochi, so she gets the bits he fucks up

Atzi didn’t like Valentines, cause it was just ‘give cards to your classmates’. But, then she saw how much Xio likes it, and she will tolerate it. So, she just gets them chocolate.

Toast, stop making me want to start another book!! I already have like five books that i‘ve started reading. I can’t take anymore!!

anyways, please don’t stop posting about the sun bearer trials. hopefully that will keep my enthusiasm for that book high enough to actually read it once i‘ve finished the pile of half-read books on my nightstand.

I love the Sunbearer trials and I love even more that I make you wanna read it! It’s written by Aiden Thomas and takes place in a mythical world where gods and demigods walk freely among mortals. The main character is a 17 year old trans boy named Theo, the son of Quetzal. The second book will be coming out in September <33.

YES !!!!! i first read the final empire i think that’s what book 1 is called help my memory is weak + the well of ascension i think three years ago (to this day they’re two of my favorite books ever) and then picked up the hero of ages and decided i didn’t like it halfway through 😭 rn i’m FINALLY finishing it because it’s a goal of mine to read as much of the cosmere as i can (<- has only finished 5 cosmere books so far)

Trinkets pt2

Ocelo’s is a dumb looking jaguar head they drew in art class with the twins. It’s stupid, and they love it. They even got Xochi to make a flower chain to make it into a keychain. They put it on their school bag.

Xochi’s is a tiny notebook. She writes down ideas for dresses and stuff inside. There’s flower stickers on the outside.

Dezi’s is a tiny anatomical heart made of clay. He made it in an art class with his mom, and has also asked Xochi to make it into a keychain.

Marino’s is just a bag of shells. Anything he thinks is a pretty shell, he picks up, puts in the bag. He gives them out, to little kids who look sad, fast food workers, just people he sees on the train that remind him of that shell. Every competitor has one, Dezi has a whole box because he gets any that are pink.

Atzi’s is a pen. It’s in the shape of a lightning bolt. It’s just a normal pen, but she put clay around it to make it look like a lightning bolt. She refuses to use any other pen.
