#Repost @richard.beland ・・・ U2s All That You Can’t Leave Behind. Released October 30, 2000. Happy 20th Anniversary. This album contains one of U2s most uplifting songs to see them perform live. Walk On. These days, with everything that’s going on and really, all that’s at stake, songs like this are not only fitting, they’re needed. Walk On concludes with lyrics describing a "litany of ambitions and achievements" that are expendable, with lines such as "You've got to leave it behind / All that you fashion / All that you make / All that you build / All that you break". Bono described this section as: "a mantra, really, a bonfire of vanities, and you can throw anything you want on the fire. Whatever you want more than love, it has to go." The album's title was derived from the song's lyrics "The only baggage you can bring is all that you can't leave behind." U2 at Slane Castle, Ireland on the Elevation Tour. September 1. 2001. I spent the day after the show walking around Dublin visiting every used record store I could locate... in pursuit of the subway poster (swipe). I was told only 100 were made and as a memorabilia collector, I wanted one. Alas, my persistence paid off and I carried it (it’s at least 5” tall) back to Canada where it now adorns a wall in my basement. ⚡️ ⭐️ 📷 : Richard Beland #ATYCLB #ATYCLB20 #allthatyoucantleavebehind #theedge #bono #u2 #slanecastle #slane https://www.instagram.com/p/CILnQ2ajPbv/?igshid=7fonjgmz4g0a

#Repost @antoncorbijn4real ・・・ This week @u2 release the deluxe vinyl boxset of their wonderful record ‘All That You Can’t Leave Behind’, 20th anniversary kind of celebration. As an added extra is a record size book I put together of photographs of that period with some, as usual, indecipherable writing by yours truly. Busy period for my books as it turns out. @u2 #ATYCLB #dublin #paris #eze #summer-of-2000 @gavin_friday #shaughnmcgrath @maverickmgmtinc https://www.instagram.com/p/CGzzY4IDIh8/?igshid=rjqug547n1qe

Fic asks! 2, 3, 21, 23!
OMG another one! Eeeeee!
2. Least favorite fic you wrote this year—
I tried (and failed) to write a 5+1 WIP at the beginning of the year, but eventually abandoned it. I kind of liked it, but I’m bad at WIPs and the stress of not working on it all the time got to me. I'm not really meant for WIPs—I'm impressed by people who can do them, though!
3. Favorite line/scene you wrote this year—
I’m going to say it’s from The Hidden Riches of Secret Places, with Luke and Din walking through a snowy Chandrila night. Words are exchanged beneath a streetlight, and I have such a vivid image of this in my head that I wish I could draw better. I’ve always wanted fanart, and fanart of that scene—even if I draw it myself—would be wonderful.
I answered #21 here!
23. Fics you wanted to write but didn’t—
I would love to have finished All That You Can’t Leave Behind, the WIP where Luke answers a call through the Force and finds a Force-wielding Mandalorian and his child, but I lost my job/got a new job, which was very distracting, and then the Met Gala Fic showed up and said, “No, me first.” I fully intend to finish ATYCLB; Chapter 8 is about half-done, but until I finish Met Gala, I can’t work on anything else. I hate my brain. 😵💫
Thank yoouuuuuuu!

Oct. 15, 2000: Curb Your Enthusiasm premieres
In Oct. 2000, one of the funniest TV shows in history (still to this day) premiered. Larry David, the co-creator of Seinfeld, followed up his 1999 HBO special with a mockumentary-style meta comedy in which he plays an exaggerated version of himself. Being on HBO he could be even less likable and more cringe-worthy than anything on Seinfeld. Every episode is LOL funny and even the recent season which ran earlier this year is some of the sharpest humor on TV. In 2013, I actually wrote a spec script for Curb and it ended up winning the Grand Prize for Television Spec Script at the Hollywood Screenplay Contest! One day I hope Larry David reads it...and makes an episode about how I made a spec script and got it to him! Happy 20th CYE!
Oct. 20, 1995: Mallrats opens

In Oct. 1995, The Smashing Pumpkins’ Magnum Opus was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2015. Happy 25 MCATIS!
Oct. 30, 2000: All That You Can’t Leave Behind released
In Oct. 2000, U2′s 10th studio album was released. When arguing about U2′s greatest album it always comes down to The Joshua Tree vs Achtung Baby. But whatever the feeling is about what’s #1, pretty much everyone agrees the third greatest album by the band is this one! After the band’s 1997 album Pop received a very mixed reaction, this was the band coming back in a big way, returning to their late 80s rock sound. It was an album I picked up while I was in college and listened to quite frequently in the next few years. I even saw the band in June 2001 on their Elevation Tour. Expect my review of the upcoming 20th anniversary edition soon. Happy 20th ATYCLB!
