What a beautiful performance. I love Neruda, I love this song too!
youtube
I knew B & E had performed "Your Blue Room" as kind of a space-tribute to Stephen Hawking, but I'd never seen the bit where Edge recites "Poetry" by Pablo Neruda. I wish this had been the most important event of 2016.

I agree!
I really don’t understand the flack that U2 get sometimes, considering they’ve won 22 grammy awards (more than any other band/artist), have sold well over 150 million albums - and are among the all-time best selling musical artists, are the most popular alternative rock band of all time, were inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame during their FIRST YEAR of eligibility (Seriously - do you know how rare that is?)…
have a frontman who writes earnest lyrics that revolve around personal, relatable themes and sociopolitical concerns - never failing to deliver passionate, soaring vocal performances and actually connects with and cares about his audience, and above all of that…
they’re great humanitarians - as a band and individuals - leveraging their fame to not only campaign for human rights but also promote several philanthropic causes - including the ONE/DATA campaigns, Amnesty International, (PRODUCT)RED, The Edge’s MUSIC RISING and other groups that advocate on behalf of world poverty, hunger, medical aid and children.
You know what? Fuck the haters, in this case. U2 are certifiably awesome.

Hello, wow, it's been a while- but I just saw the 2024's mix of Do They Know It's Christmas and can we talk about the cute detail of Bono biting his finger even years later??
