i like when people give atsushi cat-like traits like purring or having sharper-than-average canines and i think we should take it a step further and just keep adding onto it. atsushi should chuff. he scratches on walls and his desk until there's obvious nail marks digging into the wood. he rubs against the others to mark them as his territory. there has to be a meeting held because he won't stop shedding and there's white hair everywhere so a good portion of the agency's budget goes into getting everyone lint rollers. he freaks people out at night because of his tapetum lucidum. and he does all of this subconsciously so if you tell him he does any of these things he'd be absolutely mortified

Atsushi can understand cats, and offhandedly telling Fukuzawa that the stray cats he feeds are very thankful to him.

He's surprised and worried when Fukuzawa tears up, afraid he said something wrong but Fukuzawa just looks at him and says thank you in the most sincere voice he can.

From than on Atsushi happily tells him whenever the cats want to pass on a message. They adore Fukuzawa and he adores them back.

atsushi's entire gag of going "i'm a tiger, not a cat" is fun to me outside of the obvious reason of "tigers are just big cats" because i enjoy seeing people interpret it in various ways in fics and other works. i think my favorite is the idea that he doesn't like being called a cat because it feels dehumanizing to be treated like an animal rather than a person; it feels real enough to fit his character. realistically though i know it's probably because atsushi is a teenager and just being a cat sounds lame as fuck to him

usually atsushi is at the office early (orphanage habits go brr) and he'll pick up coffee (hot chocolate for both of them usually becuz they dont like bitter things but atsushi lies and says its coffee becuz dazai likes to lie and say he drinks coffee black) and breakfast for dazai too- (in the morning when dazai's only coming in late like 10-20 minutes, when he goes to get a snack when dazai's coming in late a few hours - he can tell when dazai is heading to the office via smell) but the few times he's made it on time (so not late but also not early) dazai's figured it out and awkwardly made his way to the office just before so he can buy atsushi coffee (hot chocolate) and breakfast and he kinda loiters like a sad puppy waiting for it's owner to come back until atsushi shows up, on time ofc, and gives it to him and before atsushi can even say thank u he bolts
