i know nothing about bnha other than what my bf has told me. didnt endevour leave dabi for dead? like assuming he wasnt strong enough? how do ppl like him.
you've activated blorbo brain I apologize in advance
so Endeavor and his wife Rei had 4 children, Endeavor only got married to Rei specifically and had children because he wanted to create a child with the "perfect quirk" to fulfill his dream of surpassing the number 1 hero, All Might, Endeavor being the number 2 hero. even in universe, this practice is highly controversial for pretty obvious eugenics reasons
Touya/Dabi was his first attempt
Touya was born with a fire quirk, like his father, except it was much stronger than Endeavors. even though he didn't get a child with fire and ice like he wanted, Endeavor was certain that Touya was perfect for fulfilling his dream.
shortly after Touya was born they had a daughter, Fuyumi, who only had ice, and was immediately not up to Endeavors standards, I don't think Endeavor even knew she lived there
then they had Natsuo, who I believe also had ice? idk but same thing with Fuyumi happened here
Touya's flames were very strong, but soon they started to hurt and burn him. most fire users have a natural immunity to fire. Touya however, didn't. he has a much stronger immunity to ice
Touya's entire life revolved around Endeavor and getting his praise. He started training Touya for combat at age 5, specifically showing him to burn hotter. he loved his dad, and in his own words "wanted to make him happy" but when his flames began seriously hurting him, Endeavor concluded he was incapable of fulfilling his dream
so they had their 4th child, Shoto, who was born with the perfect quirk of fire and ice that Endeavor wanted, and Touya, who lived his whole life training for Endeavor, being the center of some...very unhealthy and dangerous attention, was fully replaced with Shoto, who was "perfect"
mentally, Touya already wasn't doing well with the pressure of Endeavors dream, the training, and the burns, but once he realizes he essentially lost all purpose for living, deemed a "failure" his mental state began spiraling further downward. verbally lashing out, burning himself, and pulling out his hair, training in secret because he's still trying to win Endeavors approval, were all very blatant signs this 13 year old needed help, and nobody did anything
it got to a point where in a fit of mania and emotional uncertainty, Touya cries and begs Endeavor to see what he can do with his flames to prove his birth wasn't a mistake, something Endeavor rejects, causing Touya to lashes out and direct that anger at his baby brother, which Endeavor puts a stop to very quick. possibly not in the best way
Touya regrets this, and later asks Endeavor to meet him on Sekoto peak, in the mountains where Touya trains, to see what he's accomplished.
so Touya waits there, and Endeavor never comes. In his unstable emotional and mental state he lashes out with fire, burning himself and igniting a forest fire where Touya burned alive
the only thing authorities found were a damaged jaw bone, concluding that Touya must have died in the fire
Endeavor blames Rei for this
but he didn't die! AFO (the main 100 year old antagonist) finds him, literally burned to a crisp and dying, and takes him back to his weird backup child facility where they reconstruct his body and he lays comatose for 3 years.
when he wakes up, he insists to go home and apologize to his family and show his dad his power
they explain hes been asleep for 3 years, that his family moved on, and that with his quirk being so unpredictable, doesn't have much longer to live
hes 16-17 at this point, and after being denied the ability to go home, breaks out and runs back home anyway
he makes it, walks inside, and finds Endeavor training Shoto the same way he trained him, that even his "death" couldn't break the cycle of abuse, and just snaps.
Touya prays at his own alter, and adopts the name Dabi before fucking off for about a decade
no one knows where he was or what he was doing during this time
then he comes back specifically to ruin Endeavors life and career
so, how do people like Endeavor? easy! he felt kinda bad about all of it once his kids were old enough to fight back and bnha fans love worshipping abusive dudes that do the bare minimum like they're gods

A Few Years Had Passed, the BL Genre has Changed Alot... Yet I Still Love Romantica
But seriously, if you love something, is it necessary to have a reason? xD Can't I love something merely because I want to? Like, you don't need to have a reason to like fried chicken amirite?
Ahem. Anyway. Long post ahead.
First of all, it's merely because of a certain shot.
After seeing this for the first time, I was like "This is going to be one of my faves for sure. I'll enjoy every seconds of it. I believe this is a story that I will never forget. I'll constantly look forward to knowing the two and their story more and more."
Proud to say, this still rings true even now!
I have already listed the reasons why I love them so much, so I won't do it again in this post. But for this time, I'll explain why I still love them even after several years, even after I've transitioned from a teen to an adult which would affect my tastes over time, even after I've seen more BL works... even after knowing that there are things that other BLs managed to pull off better.
Flashbacks to the 2000s which I assume was the golden age of this series, where it was the only "watchable" BL anime back then and Sakurai Takahiro did a phenomenal job in portraying Misaki. Almost all of the fujos in internet would at least have heard of this series, and naturally it was massively beloved that 90% of the fujos would hold it as the no. 1 in their top BL list. However, since it is popular, of course there will be a fraction of people who strongly hate it because of a certain scene. Hence, citing it as the epitome of toxic BL lmao.
But of course, things will constantly change as time passed, just like how it's growing evident that BL is only consumed by cishet women is a huge myth, as queer men themselves have started to voice their love towards the genre as well. And it is also possible for ppl who aren't interested in men to enjoy BL, such as the straight guys, lesbians, and asexuals.
Likewise, BL itself is also evolving - newer ones are more aware about the idea of consent although some may still clueless of how healthy relationships work (relationship is more than just sex!). While this may sound subjective, technically there are more and more quality BL works to consume nowadays. In case you are bored with the slice-of-life BL, there is a plethora of fantasy and horror BL out there to choose, moreso when you're aware of webnovel sites like Syosetu. Isekai BL? They're out there.
And it isn't just from Japan, China and Korea are also capable of producing good BL as well. Even BL is getting praised for the more genuine M/M representation compared to how it's generally done in the West (coughcough performative diversity coughcough).
And it doesn't stop there. The series doesn't even need to have a BL label, the MC can still be gay, and the gay romance can still happen despite the plot not centering around that.
There should be no reason to think that it isn't possible for two men to fall for each other nowadays, the teases shouldn't amount to nothing, which alot of non-BLs were guilty of back then. Well, I'm talking abt series that would tease two male characters together but the creators will allow them to be anything but gay for each other. The only time you'd see them as canon gay is in doujins or fanfics.
Hence, you'd only get canon gay couples from series that have been labelled as BL. Luckily, it's no longer a reasonable thing to do in 2021 onwards.
So, thanks to this new golden era of BL or LGBTQA+ representation, since there are so many quality works to indulge yourself, the Junjou Romantica series is getting outdated. I believe alot of the new generation haven't even heard of it ahahaha. When compared to other BL, I'll admit that Junjou won't even fit to be the best or the worst. I'm not saying that Junjou is bad, but it's simply because there are so many BL works now compared to in 2000s. To the point I bet they would discover Junjou because of sheer luck.
Now, I'll get to the point. Why I still love Romantica through these years? Well, just because there are more and newer BLs, doesn't necessarily mean that it is better. While it's true that there are stuff that other BLs do better such as the plot, the characters, and the art, there's something that Romantica does better than others too, in my opinion. That is, Misaki and Akihiko's dynamic.
I love how Misaki and Akihiko are characters of their own whilst loving each other very much. In many BLs I've seen, the dynamic doesn't feel equal, where the MC is generally too busy to think about the ML most of the time (to those who are unfamiliar, it's referring to the main love interest), whereas the ML serves no other purpose to the story other than being the MC's love interest. In comparison, as the MC, Misaki's POV is always 90% USAGI-SAN USAGI-SAN USAGI-SAN in every chapter although he faces different problems every single time. As for Akihiko, yea he loves Misaki so much but his character arc isn't limited to that. As outdated as the series would be, this aspect of their relationship, will always be timeless to me.
I've grown to love them so much, that I'll get happy from merely seeing them. Yea I do understand that others will get disappointed of the slow and repetitive plot, the bad art, not to mention after waiting for months for the update, spending money to get it... but all I think when looking at new acts is "OMG it's my babies I miss them so much T-T".
So yea, that's it. I don't ask much, I just want to see Misaki and Akihiko, and nothing more.

Yule Ball: Part III - Professor Snape x Reader [Smut]
Synopsis: You and Professor Snape sort out a poorly written examination in his classroom, but somebody sees. With your reputations at stake, only magic can save you now... and a little of something else too, at a time most inopportune.Ā
Notes: Sorry this is three days late, but I wanted to edit it to perfection, since itās been a year since the last part! Enjoy, I love all of you so much. Happy holidays x
@fandom-puffā (sorry I know there are so many more ppl who asked to be tagged but I lost track!)Ā
Part One
Part TwoĀ
Part Four
The soft bubbling in his classroom late at night was comforting to Severus. He found it helped him think... and grade test scores, as per what he was currently preoccupied with. The moon is full outside, shining through what little window Snape had left uncovered. He ignores the squawk of Hagrid's distant Hippogriff (that thing takes pleasure in ensuring he never got any peace and quiet as of ten o clock at night) and gets back to the paper. He scowls. Ā
"What is it with these twits?" he murmurs to himself, using his wand to mark a large "fail" on Ron Weasley's test, flopping it onto the pile of Fred and George's equally dismal efforts. Just then, he flips to one with your neat, flowery handwriting on it, and stops.
Well, what's the problem? Just mark it as you would any other student. Besides, this will be nice and quick. (y/n) always gets a perfect score on my examinations.
Beginning to read though, he finds himself beginning to frown. Wrong... another one wrong... He looks up at the ceiling, and clenches his jaw. Of course. Why should he expect any less, when you'd been all over him for the past month?
----
The next afternoon, youāre wiling away potions by watching your quill spin in its inkwell. Wandless magic, along with perfecting the art of apparition, is something youād been trying your hand at for years, and the fruits of your labor are just starting to manifest now.
āMiss (y/l/n).ā
Your attention moves up to Professor Snape, at the head of the potions room.
This your last class of the day, before a much needed weekend rest. You're supposed to get the test grades back this afternoon, and you have to say you're excited-- you studied long and hard for it, attempting to make Snape proud of a little more than your talents of bewitchment.
"Miss (y/l/n). May I see you after class?"
You smile to yourself. "Of course, sir." You expect he'll reward you, calling you his good girl, telling you all about how much you deserve him tonight. Snape was rarely pleased with anything, but you're sure he'd find exception in your astounding work.
After class had finished on the note of homework and groaning, you stay in your seat, assuring your friends youād catch up later. Once the rest of the unassuming students had filed out, you move to get up and join him by his desk, but he strides over before you can, thwacking the test down in front of you.
"Whatā¦ is this?"
You look down at it, and give him a charming smile. "The best damn exam you'll ever grade."
Snape makes a noise halfway between a laugh and a groan, sarcasm dripping as he says, "I insist you take a second look."
You frown, and look down at your work, flipping through. As you do, you become more and more frustrated. "But-- but I knew this one! This is... this was clearly draught of the living death..."
"Was it?" Snape asks patiently, staring at you with his arms folded, "I pray you never need to brew it, then."
You huff, glaring up at him. "Do you know, I studied for hours for this--"
"Don't lie to me," he hisses, "I know what you're doing. Fail the exam, get called up to see me when everyone else is safely in their dormitories and get the punishment of a lifetime.ā He leans in, glowering. āI know how your mind works."
You balk. "You actually think I'd sacrifice my grades in potions to have sex with you?! You have more of an ego than I thought, professor!"
Snape sputters. It does sound quite far fetched the way you put it, but...
"Perhaps your exams are a little too hard," you raise your eyebrows, and push the test away from you.
"Perhaps. Perhaps I was mistaken as well..." He holds his frown. "I want a perfect grade next time, do you understand me?"
"Oh, perfectly. It's just I've been so preoccupied with extra activities, like the frog choir, that whole tri-wizard competition-- I mean the tournaments are bloody thrilling! They'll be leaving soon, anyway, with all the visitors. Also McGonagall's lessons..."
"There's nothing Professor McGonagall can do that I can't do twice as ruthlessly."
"Yes. I know," you smirk.
āDo not let it happen again. My class takes precedenceā¦ you should know that by now.ā Snape waits, and when you don't get up to leave, sighs. "That will be all, Miss (y/l/n)."
āWill it?ā
He turns back at your teasing tone, and already feels a headache coming on. He fell right into your trapā¦ which wasnāt even a trap in the first place. He brought this on himself, truly. Perhaps he should just forget how to feel guilty. After all, how many times had this happened?
"I'm not wearing anything beneath my robes."
Snape gives a tight lipped smile. "I was never foolish enough to believe you were."
"Proved it a bit difficult in class..." you begin to shrug the robes off, "Malfoy was hanging over my shoulder the whole time, it's a bloody miracle he didn't get an eyeful.ā
"Perhaps he did," Snape muses, "We'll never know." You watch him closely, parting your legs. He still looks hesitant, even after all these times.
"We don't have to if you don't want to," you bite your lip, starting to undo the robe, "But Professorā¦ I want to."
He puts a hand on yours to stop you, and you look up in surprise. Maybe this is really where he would take a stand... you were wondering when he would.
But he smacks your hand away, giving you that look. "Don't touch." He turns you around, and slots himself behind you, dark hair falling against your cheek. "That's. My. Job."
You grin, and he slowly opens your robes, admiring how your tie falls between your breasts, perfectly centered.
"This will have to come off," he murmurs, taking the tie with the tip of his fingers, then stops. "Unless..."
"What?" you breathe.
He hums thoughtfully, eyes narrowing. "Perhaps I ought to make sure you receive what you deserve. It was an abysmal examination score, after all..."
A thrill runs through you. "What do you mean?"
"This is the third time we've done this, and somehow I doubt it will be the last. You believe I'd let you get off without a punishment for your dangerous behavior?"
"I believe you'd let me get off.ā
"Silence." Though he maintains most of his stern expression, you can sense his impulse to smirk. He takes the tie off, and ties it around your wrists behind your back, laying your back on his desk. He then begins to slowly tug the robes off, and groans when he sees your breasts bare to him in full. You moan, stretching your arms, and bite your lip, blinking up at him.
"You don't deserve what you have in mind," he whispers, "You deserve my lips on you, teasing you, bringing you close until I deny you what you need. That is what you get when you don't take my class seriously."
You whimper, rubbing your thighs together. "But Professor... please, I haven't touched myself all week."
He narrows his eyes. "Why? Preparing for something, were we?"
You avert eye contact, blushing. "I..."
"Go on."
"I expected a good grade. I thought you would reward me, daddy."
Snape inhales sharply at the name, and you see his hips start to slightly shift to rub against the desk. "Well, we both saw how that turned out. Knickers, off."
Just as you're reaching down, you both hear someone mutter an 'alohamora.' The door swings open on you and Snape. There, a boy your age stands, eyes a fraction wider.
"Krum," you breathe. He seems caught, and slowly backs away. Snape's eyes widen slightly, and you pull your robes back on. Before you can run after the visiting student though, your professor grabs your arm, tugging you back.
"He'll tell Karkarov," you protest desperately.
"He will," Snape nods, "Let him. There is little he can prove. It will just seem like dirty sportsmanship for the Durmstrang visitors to try and smear the reputation of one of Hogwarts' best teachers.ā
Still... it was unnerving.
---
The next day, you're far more on edge than usual. A meeting had been called, as Snape had relayed to you, and youāre both so sure itās aboutā¦ that.
You lay on your bed, flicking your wand about as a feather dances atop you. It floats up, down, with each unspoken leviosa of your wand, and finally, you let it fall against your chest. You would much rather be practicing your apparatingāit was a little harder, and would take your mind off the possibility of your getting expelled.
You try and push the thoughts of Snape out of your head, and replace them with where you want to apparate. Focusā¦ focusā¦
In Dumbledoreās office, Snape takes his seat alongside McGonagall, Dumbledore, Sprout, Flitwick, Karkaroff, and Maxime. Pursing his lips and narrowing his eyes, he doesnāt say a word.
āWell. Let us bring to attention why this meeting has been called,ā McGonagall begins, and Dumbledore nods.
āQuite right, Minerva. There has been an incident.ā
In your dorm, you concentrate hard on apparating to the library. If you could onlyā¦ focusā¦
āA special thank you to Karkaroff, for one his boys, Victor Krum, bringing this situation to our attention,ā Dumbledore goes on. āIt is a matter we here at Hogwarts, take very seriously.ā
Snape is about to open his mouth, when he feels something under the table, directly in front of his legs.
You glance around, confused. Where had you ended up?
āA matter, I might say, that could even have serious repercussions if not looked into further.ā
āMon Dieu,ā Maxime tuts, āWhat has happened, Albus?ā
Oh, shit. Oh, shit! Your subconscious had won out. You had been thinking of Severus too much when trying to apparate, and had apparated to the meeting.
Snape could not, for the life of him, figure out what had just materialized between his legs. Pretending to drop a vial from his sleeve, he reached down to checkā¦ and the two of you came face to face.
Snapeās eyes widen, then he narrows them into slits. The glare is threatening in every way it could be, and you cower back a little.
I didnāt mean to, you try to mouth, but heās already sat up again. His boot comes up, and lays to rest on your stomach, keeping you far away from him, yet close enough so the others canāt feel you. If anyone else was to check under the table, itās not like you have an invisibility cloakāyouād both be dead meat.
āWhat, might I inquire, would this matter be?ā Severus asks, in the most level voice he can manage. He was absolutely furious that you were where you were. Had you no shame? He was about to lose his job over this! You were simply taunting fate, at this point.
āIām very glad you asked, Severus,ā Karkaroff interjected with sinister glint in his eyes, āFor this matter concerns you.ā
Between his legs under the table, you try to apparate back. Onlyā¦ you didnāt apparate with your wand on you. Damn wandless magic! Now you couldnāt get back.
āWhat have I got to do with anything, pray tell, Igor?ā Snape is doing a rather good job of sounding unimpressed, bored even. You start to squirm, listening to his deep voice. It still does things to you, even in a situation like this. Especially in a situation like this.
āIt is a matter of something Krum saw, Severus,ā Dumbledore says slowly, āSomething troubling indeed.ā
Under the table, desire starts to creep up on you. You had been given a very rare, very exciting opportunity here. You could get back at Snape for grading your test badly, and have a little fun along the wayā¦ two can play at that game.
āYou see, we have learned that it involves one of our students here at Hogwarts,ā Minerva says sternly, āNamely, Miss (y/l/n) of (y/house) house.ā You hesitate, then take the chance to unlatch him.
āMiss (y/l/n)?ā Snape quirks a brow, āA model student.ā
āSeems like such a lovely girl. Tres jolie,ā Maxime comments.
Snape begins to frown, feeling your hands on his breeches. You werenāt. You wouldnātā¦
āYes, well thereās no doubt about that,ā Flitwick says, āBut the news we have heard of her is nothing short of shocking! Nothing we would expect from a young lady of her stature.ā You take Snape out of his pants, half hard, and close your mouth softly around his tip. He tries to swat you off, but you dodge him.
āNo doubt,ā Minerva agrees.
āSurelyā¦ā Snape swallows, shifting his hips, āWhatever she has doneā¦ can be forgiven?ā Ohā¦.
āWhy would you be so quick to forgive her, Severus?ā Minerva asks, āWe havenāt even learned of the situation.ā
āI only wish to reprimand students when reprimandation is wholeheartedly deserved,ā Snape clenches his jaw, giving you a good whack with his knee, āOtherwise, such punishment would subsequently lose its value.ā
āWell. With that I agree,ā Sprout speaks up, āBut this, from what weāve been led to believe, is a very serious issue!ā
āOut with it, then,ā Snape annunciates in that menacing tone, āWhat exactly has she done, and how exactlyā¦ does it involve me?ā His hand grabs you by the hair under the table, and tightens. If youāre going to play with him like this, then he will remain in control.
āWhy donāt we simply ask the boy himself?ā Karkaroff smirks, and with a whisk of his wand and the utterance of Dumbledoreās secret password, the doors open. Victor Krum comes in, rigid as if he had been trained for battle. He gives a swift bow, and stands before them.
āTell us what you saw, Victor,ā Minerva encourages. Krum looks to everyone, brow furrowed. Snape guides your head, gritting his teeth. Heās already close, and he can faintly hear you moaning like a whore.
āWait for a moment,ā Filius says, holding up a finger, āI hear something strange.ā
Snape coughs, trying to overpower the sounds of him getting his dick sucked by a slutty little student. āMust be Hagridās Hippogrif,ā he grumbles, āThe infernal thing does not know how to quiet down.ā
āBuckbeak only caws at night,ā Filius frowns, āThis sounds much closer.ā
Snape begins to sweat. This was it. If you didnāt quiet down your sounds of pleasure from under the table, you would both be found out, and that would be that. Disgraced, humiliated, cast out--
Igor clears his throat in irritation, and attention is once again collectively returned to Krum. Snape relaxes a little bit, this being the only time heās ever praised his old death eater friend for interrupting something.
You smirk under the table, quieting your moaning down a little as Snape slams you back into him, your lips sliding down even further over his cock with each thrust into your mouth. It feels so good to be used, especially in such a dangerous situationāyouād never been so wet in your life, and you start to rub yourself, gasping softly and gagging on his large cock.
Snape curses you out in his mind. Youāre a troublemaker, more than a troublemaker, and absolutely disobedient little girl. What he wouldnāt do to slam you down over a desk right at this very moment and teach you a real lesson.
āGo on,ā Minerva encourages Krum gently, āWhat you say will never leave this room.ā
āUnless required,ā Flitwick sniffs, straightening his tie.
āOh, Merlin,ā Snape grunts, crumpling forward a little. Heās on the edge, heās about to comeā¦ Everyone turns to him, their stares burning.
āSomething to say, Severus?ā Karkaroff jabs, sneering.
Snapeās eyelids flutter, and he white knuckles the table as his orgasm hits him. You moan under the table, feeling it on your tongue, and you come as well, biting back a whine. Fuck, youāre hit little whoreā¦ oh, yeahā¦
āSeverus?ā Minerva prods, frowning. Snape clenches his jaw, regaining his foothold on the conversation.
āOnly a reminder that I am very busy and do not have all day. Consider this an encouragement, Mr. Krum, to spit it out,ā he growls, then his lips tug up ever so slightly. āThough not everyone present in this room must take that advice.ā
You hold back a giggle, and swallow dutifully.
Through the confused stares of the heads of houses, Krum finally speaks. Snape holds his breath, and you listen carefully, nerves buzzing. At least you went out with a bang.
āI was walking past Professor Snapeās classroom,ā Krum begins, staring at the dark Slytherin head of house, āAndā¦ā Everyone seems to lean forward. āAnd spotted (y/n)ā¦ā
āYes?ā Sprout murmurs. Snape worries the inside of his lip. This was it. Perhaps he could apparate as smoothly as you had, out of this room. Though he could never match your impeccable timing, surely.
āāI spotted (y/n) stealing lacewing flies from Professor Snapeās personal storage.ā
Snape nearly drops his jaw. Everyone at the table looks terribly scandalized, and he counts his blessings that it is not for the reason they should.
āAllow meā¦ to explain,ā he says, fixing himself discreetly under the table. āI had given (y/n) an assignment outside of class protocol, brewing a specially modified batch of polyjuice potion for extra credit. I have been tutoring her as somewhat of an apprentice.ā He looks up at Krum with a curious sort of respect. āIā¦ appreciate your diligence in reporting what would typically be an unforgivable offense against my private collection of ingredients, Mr. Krum. However, in this particular caseā¦ no further action is required, at the bidding, of course, of Headmaster Dumbledore.ā
Dumbledore opens his hands. āYour explanation is quite sufficient, Severus. I see no further need to pursue any consequence toward Miss (y/l/n), if her intentions were warranted and academic.ā
You sigh in relief under the table, and Snape smirks. Karkaroff is fuming, thinking the matter would absolutely ruin him. The potions master lifts his chin.
āWill that be all, then?ā
āYes.ā
āGood,ā he growls, and rises. He gets out a small vial, and hands it to you under the table, as the others talk amongst themselves.
āDrink,ā he mutters, and you do. Before your eyes, you begin to turn invisible. His potion-brewing abilities never fail to astound you. Flitwick and Sprout spot the slight elevation in the tablecloth as you get out and follow Snape. They frown at one another, and check for an open window anywhere in the office.
You follow Snape to his classroom, and this time, he locks the door.
āYou are lucky he said what he did, you little harlot.ā
You smirk, the small vial already wearing off. āHe knows Hermione. Hermione knows me. Itās only natural heād cover for me.ā
āAnd what you did back under the table?!ā he continues, cape billowing as he paces. You grimace a little, waiting for that. He just sighs, glancing at you. āWill be the reason for my nightly shut-ins.ā
You saunter over, kissing his cheek. āI knew youād thank me.ā He doesnāt look up.
āHardly. Detention for the remainder of the school year.ā
āBut sir!ā You slowly start to realize what that means. āAh. Yes, sir.ā
He canāt help but smile to himself as you leave for your dormitory, admiring your uniform on the way out. Perhaps he hadnāt taken such leave of his senses when he had found you that night at the Yule Ball, as he had so forced himself to believe. Perhaps, instead, he had come to them.

š„ any dishonored thing of ur choosing -deathoftheoutsider
wah okay!! i will talk a bit about the outsider and void then..i dont really wanna frame it as a Hot Take bc i have no interest in starting shit or whatever like ill interact with whatever i want to in this fandom and ignore the rest and everyone else is free to do the same but.
I do not think The Outsider is aĀ ācharacterā in the conventional sense, much less that it does his character or the allegory he wields any justice to be shipped with anyone in the series (at least without seriously considering the implications and framing it in a way that completes the allegory. more on this later)
the outsider and his void are an allegory for Otherness; iām namely gonna frame it as queerness and neurodiversity, but really anything could fit as long as itās about you feeling seen as a marginalized and othered person. he is written to represent this allegory, not to be a person with a satisfying narrative arc or dimensions. this is why some people feel that he lacks depth-- heās not supposed to have depth compared to others in the series, heās mostly a vehicle for what he represents, and is supposed to be easy to identify with or recognize.
he was born to a life of hardship, suffered at the hands of the rich and powerful, was ignored, cast out, etc. etc. a familiar story. poor, queer, nd, really whatever you wanna frame it as. he was a nobody outcast. in comes the envisioned, they pick him to serve as their martyr and idol without his permission. he then had his name cut away and forgotten, and was thrust onto a pedestal to spend the rest of eternity being worshipped by other outcasts who had suffered at the same hands he had. he has something greatlyĀ in common with those who worship him, including the very people who stripped his mortality from him in the first place, but because of this shared hardship (and nothing else), his own autonomous personhood was disregarded completely in favor of The Community needing someone Just Like Them to idolize. if this sounds familiar, thatās because it should!!
his humanity was taken from him, and in his place, an idol was created. his human body is frozen in stone in the center of the void-- retired. out of commission. no longer needed. he was immortalized, transcended. this is traditionally desired, although dishonored is trying to convince you that it is not actually desirable. in the age of internet content creation, you can be immortalized without even being present, without knowing about it. you become what you can do for other people, and what you cannot. people fall in love with an idea of you, the idea of you being like them, and other people come to hate you deeply without even knowing you. people came to hate the outsider more deeply than he ever had been when he was human-- he wasnāt seenĀ when he was human. a pedestal only helps you to be seen. the outsider had the choice made for him to achieve immortality in exchange for the simple joys of being un-known.
he spends all of doto trying to convey this idea to billie through the hollows:
"There is freedom in being hated. There is license in being cast out. Some learn this lesson a little too well."Ā "These people lay their thoughts, their petty wants, their murderous desires in front of me to witness. I cannot turn away." "We carry what was done to us through the rest of our endless days. No one asked if we wanted it." (i like this one. he speaks for the community-- this is a shared experience, one everyone can recognize. however, as a Queer Figure, he never asked for this. he never asked to be immortalized. i like the double meaning here)
not to mention, the entire extent of the outsiderās Sole ability and influence on the real world is toĀ āchooseā people and give them untold power over others. this is a fun ironic twist on what marginalized groups endure from powerful people, (dishonored is largely about power imbalances and socioeconomic hierarchies) but itās also fun to think about in the context of the role model/fan framing-- so many worshippers give their lives to beĀ āchosenā by him. itās easily framed as an exaggeration of otherwise very real power imbalances and often the flagrant breaching of boundaries existing between creators and fans.
and on the subject of the VOID...ohht he void.....
the void should be a havenĀ for queer folks. for nd folks. itās wanted by so many to be a safe space, it should be, itās the Other World! itās renounced by the abbey, crusaded against, even. but it isnāt. itās just this limitless, eons-old horizon that hungers and starves for something to fill it. if the outsider is the lament of queer idolatry, the void is the lament of queer Hunger. it is roaming, and restless. it does not belong to the outsider; the outsider cannot survive without it. itās the desire to belong, not a place of belonging.
the void craves this idol, this outsider-- i, for one, have often experienced hunger for a truly moral and just role model, someone to make the world Right, and i know this is another shared feeling. those who worship the outsider, who drive themselves mad trying to see him or be chosen by him, are suffering from this idol hunger. you see this in a lot of queer and nd kids and young adults. i grew up just having my life and interests like, punctuated by different fixations on different people that i didnāt know at all, only fell in love with the idea of. it happens a lot.
thereās a couple more doto quotes that really highlight this for me:
"They carve my mark into the old bones bleached by the sun. They carve my mark into their skin. They learn true hunger in the Void." "All these charms, these runes and fetid offerings on shrines made for me, will be nothing more than objects worn of meaning. Bones and dead things, thrown into the dirt."
āThey learn true hunger in the Void.ā is something that i wanna touch on real quick. people can spend their lives obsessing over the idea of what they think the void will cure for them, will fix in their lives, only to find out that itās just a hollow manifestation of the emptiness theyāve felt all their lives. itās not the needs met, but the need itself. you have to makeĀ the home, it doesnāt already exist and you canāt fucking run to it. it is heartbreaking, frustrating, one of the bleakest messages iāve ever encountered in a game, but iāve never felt more seen. by submitting to these ideas, the idea of a perfect unhuman human and the idea of a perfect otherworldly home, you are surrendering your humanity. youāre not only being transformed by the powers gained (if they are gained), youāre essentially dissolving with hunger after never having these needs met. you see so many people in these games whittling themselves down to nothing but base need. empty apartments occupied only by shrines, sometimes containing their corpses. journals of people dedicating their lives to the worship of the outsider, always ending darkly.Ā "I will find this empty place. Somehow the key to open the Void will fall into my hands. In time, I will learn the secret and he will call to me as he called to her."
not to mention The New Envisioned-- prolonged exposure to the void will always, without fail, turn a human into silver void stone. these creatures can no longer interact with or acknowledge the mortal world. they have surrendered themselves to hunger, and cannot be saved. this is celebrated by the cult, honored by them, even. i honestly like....i pity them, and i hate them, and i recognize that iāve been those people, lmao. when i was at my worst as a teenager, i wasnt so much a person as i was just a shell full of hunger and heartbreak. my personality was defined by who i was a fan of. i think i definitely was Less Human then. the cult of the outsider is a universal experience!!
dishonored, at its core, is a celebration of humanity. it asks you to celebrate human emotion and weakness despite greed and bigotry. the powers are not to be wanted, they are to be ignored, refused. it is human to hunger, but it is Queer and Divergent to make hunger your lifeās meaning, to need to learn the secret, find the key, be chosen and loved and cherished, to be made whole by some perfect thing. to find your humanity in something un-human. dishonored sees all that, mourns it with you, and then asks you to find humanity in each other !! love the spine of your lover, the blood draining down the docks, the pause to stretch languidly in the sun of a work day.
and finally...on the topic of outsider shipping....i dont think that, in his god form, it does him much justice to be shipped with anyone. heās not much of a person, just a projection of his former self and a vehicle for his allegory as discussed-- im sure he could be shipped like this, but it just isnāt satisfying to me in any way. however, letās talk a bit about his lethal and nonlethal ending. DOTO asks you to make a choice. is it better to give him an abrupt and merciful ending, after deciding that the fury heās endured at the hands of othersā famine is too much trauma for any mortal to live with? or will you decide that itās only fair to give him a chance to live the life he never got to, to return his humanity that was taken without his consent? if you choose to free him from the void, i think you can very very easily make the argument that he can be shipped with corvo, or anyone else that can easily be shipped w/ ppl. heās finally free to live his life as a queer man, can explore the simple and complex joys of being human with other people, navigate the hills and valleys he never got to before. corvoās just a nice pick bc 1) experienced human/inexperienced human is good, 2) they know each other, but they donāt. this is a good setup. 3) corvo is an older queer man and uhh you cant convince me otherwise lol! and older queer/younger queer is a self indulgence for me. also corvo is just nice. i think he would enjoy helping the outsider navigate his new humanity.
just some thoughts i have running through my head all hours of the day :) this is really long cuz its a combination of a lot of infodumps from discord lmfao

THE POSITIVE & NEGATIVE; Mun & Muse - Meme.
fill out & repost ā„ This meme definitely favors canons more, but I hope OCās still can make it somehow work with their own lore, and lilā fandom of friends & mutuals. Multi-Muses pick the muse you are the most invested in atm. tagged by: stolen from @dansiere tagging:Ā @ghiassan, @deathsreflection, @altuspavus, @windrunnerrs (velanna), @hopewrought, @willbeshot, @seahaloed (iron bull), @asterfedā (noctis), @ anyone who wants to steal it! also multis feel free to choose a different character
My muse is: Ā canon / oc / au / canon-divergent / fandomless / complicated (iām open to roleplaying with non-dragon age characters, and have AUs for other fandoms)
Is your character popular in the fandom? YES / NO. solas is both wildly popular and wildly hated. heās been more consistently popular than the controversial women in the series, like sera or vivienne, who have only recently begun to get to the point where their tags are less vitriolic (although iām sure itās still out there), but thereās still a sizable hatedom that canāt have his name breathed in their vicinity w/o them talking abt how much they hate him. even if youāre currently cosplaying him!
Is your character considered hotā¢ in the fandom? Ā YES / NO / IDK. again, you have ppl who are super into him and ppl who think heās ugly. my personal opinion is that i think heās weirdly pretty, and wish ppl would commit more to his unconventional features rather than try to chisel him into sb more traditionally attractive and that ppl who donāt find him attractive would maybe chill w/ calling him ugly. find him unattractive by all means, but lets embrace the fact that inquisition let their love interests have skin flaws etc and accept that some wonāt be our cups of tea.
Is your character considered strong in the fandom? Ā YES / NO / IDK. its hard to deny at this point tbh.
Are they underrated? Ā YES / NO / IDK. frustrating as the hate in the tags he has enough fans that i couldnt say heās underrated w/ a straight face.
Were they relevant for the main story? Ā YESĀ / NO. heās the reason the game starts with a bang and not the inevitable dissolution of the conclave b/c the sides are disparate.
Were they relevant for the main character? YES / NO / THEYāRE THE PROTAG. regardless of solasā relationship with the inquisitor, there are parallels and contrasts in their stories and he also is the reason they survive inquisition.
Are they widely known in their world? YES / NO. fenāharel is well-known and revered, if feared, among the dalish, yet at the same time heās not remembered for a lot besides locking the gods away-- and the context of that decision has also been lost. as solas heās relatively unknown until inquisition and especially trespasser.
Howās their reputation? Ā GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL. again, polarising!! he has loyal agents and people are willing to speak well of him despite everything, including his enemies sometimes (depending mostly on the inquisitor).Ā
How strictly do you follow canon? Ā ā generally i try to have a canon basis for my interpretation, even if i interpret the text differently than the author.
SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals. Ā āĀ solas is an immortal who is simultaneously jaded and very much invested in the small moments of life. far from being weary of the day-to-day lives of ordinary people, it is systems and orders he is most tired of. he walks an interesting line that feels far less misanthropic than other immortal characters iāve experienced, yet still heās quite cynical. as a character who has fought against religious based tyranny before, but in a completely different era, he is in a unique position where what he sees around him is both horrifyingly familiar and yet completely new. it allows an exploration of the wrongs of thedasā society from an outsiderās perspective. his motivations are complex and multifaceted, often condemnable and yet also understandable. his character arc in inquisition (if befriended, or regardless in the case of my solas) takes him from a dispassionate, disconnected antagonist to someone deeply invested in the people of thedas, deeply conflicted and actively hoping he will be proven wrong again. i think his story is a testament to human (or elven, or dwarven, or-) connection and how even when we resist we canāt resist creating bonds with the people in our lives. i personally see this bond going beyond the inquisitor hence why i play low-approval solas as conflicted as high-approval, if not when it comes to the inquisitor.
Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?). Ā āĀ solas is selfish and motivated solely by revenge, heās clinging to a past that clearly no longer exists, if you ignore all the people from it who are still alive. heās totally unaware of all his flaws and never owns up to any mistakes ever. no, i havenāt listened to a single word solas has said in my life why do you ask. heās also critical of my faves which means heās #cancelled, there is clearly no validity to what heās saying. ksjdf no but in all seriousness i think a lot of reasons ppl donāt find solas interesting are just... weird readings of his character that sometimes have no basis in the text of inquisition, but also there are plenty of perfectly valid reasons to not find him interesting. usually those ppl donāt like... talk abt how much they donāt find him interesting constantly tho. they just chill and arenāt invested in this particular villain. for one thing i think the game missed out on opportunities for exploring how someone who may not have even had a body at the beginning of his existence would feel about gender and sexuality, so making him presumably straight and cis was a boring choice. i also think that the dragon age games being very protagonist-centric hurts solasā character, thereās no real reason why the inquisitor is the only one who can throw his plans into question but making the player the center of the universe means heās not allowed to change due to the effects of other companions or NPCs. thank god this is rp and i do what i want.
What inspired you to rp your muse? Ā āĀ i have a history degree so when the inquisition companions were being teased, solas describing bias in primary sources from the memories heās seen got me interested in him. but my first playthrough i didnāt actually take him with me all too often, i think my main party was dorian-blackwall-varric. i liked him, and i think he or dorian were my first friends in skyhold, but my initial interest was in other characters. between his dialogue that appealed to the historian in me tho and how his spirit opinions sort of turned everything iād felt about spirits in the last two games on its head, i started vibing with him more the farther i went in. like merrill set me up for the āspirits are peopleā thing and solas hit it out of the park. then temple of mythal happened, and i did bring solas with me there. i found his dialogue fascinating and also suspicious, iād just finished masked empire like the day before da:i came out so i definitely thought solas was an ancient elf in the same vein as felassan. it was after temple of mythal that i actually decided to make his blog, although like as one idk linchpin to cement my status as solas trash... i was hit BAD by the banter bug on my first playthrough, probably got like a dozen banters total. but then at some point late in the game i took solas to the forbidden oasis and he wouldnāt stop talking to people, and i really loved his banter with the rest of my party at the time.
What keeps your inspiration going? Ā āĀ replaying inquisition, new DA content when the bioware gods deign to grant us a lifeline, but the biggest thing is my rp partners. i wouldnāt be here if it werenāt for the people i write with, new and old. my activity of late hasnāt been the best, work and the summer heat has really been sapping me of energy, and does even during years when we arenāt going through a pandemic. but itās the thought of my rp partners and love of solas that keeps me coming back.
Some more personal questions for the mun.
Give your mutuals some insight about the way you are in some matters, which could lead them to get more comfortable with you or perhaps not.
Do you think you give your character justice? Ā YES / NO / I SINCERELY HOPE I DO? i have my doubts sometimes, but i think i do ok.
Do you frequently write headcanons? Ā YES / NO / SORT OF? there is no headcanon too small for me.
Do you sometimes write drabbles? Ā YES / NO. but not lately * gestures to the low activity * iāve been in this cycle where i get anxious abt late replies, so prioritise them, then burn myself out and canāt write the fics i want. iāve had two iāve been DYING to write tho i just... need to find the space in my brain to let myself.
Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day? YES / NO. i mean it depends on the day. if i work closing shifts at my store it gets very quiet and boring around 8:30 so i spent the next 90 minutes thinking about character stuff.
Are you confident in your portrayal? Ā YES / NO / SORT OF?Ā
Are you confident in your writing? Ā YES / NO / SOMETIMES.Ā
Are you a sensitive person? Ā YES / NO / SORTA.
Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal? Ā āĀ iām going to sayĀ ānoā because like, i donāt ask for criticism. this is a hobby based on my interpretation of a character, if you think i write solas too soft then youāre welcome to think that, but iām happy with the balance iāve struck with his internal versus external behaviour and how he changes based upon who heās speaking to. if you think iām erasing straight people by making solas pan then ksjdfs. ok.
Do you like questions, which help you explore your character? Ā ā Ā yes!!! even if they retread ground already trodden, a) my interpretation may have adjusted since the last time i played or b) a reminder is nice. if itās new stuff then itās fun to think about.
If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why? Ā ā Ā itād depend on why they disagree. if they just disagree on a subjective opinion about what i took from a certain line, then theyāre welcome to their opinion but i donāt necessarily care to hear it. if it is unintentionally hurtful then i would like to know. although rather than a comment iād rather a non-anonymous message.
If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it? Ā ā Ā same as the above.
If someone really hates your character, how do you take it? Ā āĀ if theyāre vocal about it i typically just unfollow / softblock if i was following in the first place. people can feel how they want about solas, but iāve found over the years that if people really hate solas ooc it can often bleed into their ic interactions. itās really weird seeing your character being brought up repeatedly in threads with others specifically to dunk on, for no reason other than i guess solas is living rent free in their heads, so at least we have that in common. but anyway unfollowing is just the best choice to avoid getting kinda pressed if iām having a bad day.
Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors? Ā ā Ā roleplay is the wild west of writing, so i think itād depend on what the error was. coming at me likeĀ āyou shouldnāt start a sentence with a prepositionā would get a laugh, but i donāt edit my replies much if at all and mistakes will 100% happen. pointing out typos is chill so long as you do it politely.
Do you think you are easy going as a mun? Ā āĀ it depends! iāve learned that being too easy going actually just means iām subjecting myself to negative emotions to please people. so iāve gotten less easy going as the years go by. how does one defineĀ āeasy goingā anyway? does asking that question mean i am objectively not easy going? the longer this thought goes on the more the answer seems to beĀ āprobably not,ā but i like to think it could be a lot worse.

I have seen some fics of Five going to high school (and often falling in love with a 13 y/o oc girl which icks me tf out bc thatās an old man, guys) to socialize which gave me the idea of Five befriending old people who are also physically old. For example, Hannah, the German lady in her 80s who poisoned nazis when she was a child. Then thereās Joan who spent his life fighting to achieve his goals despite having to deal with near-constant racism. Just. Five getting along with all these old ppl
youāre RIGHT and consider: Klaus decides itās a good idea to take Five along to his weekly ladies over fifty stitchĀ ān bitch and is surprised and delightedĀ to find that Five actually genuinely gets along with all of them
there is, of course, Hannah who poisoned Nazis and her and five trade poisoning methods the way other people might trade coveted family recipes. Hannah declares Five to be aĀ ānice young manā and the fact that she is in her 80s or 90s means that she is absolutely allowed to get away with it
Fiona is a 60something butch lesbian who proudly displays her mugshots along the walls of her house for everyone to gaze upon in awe when itās her turn to host. Her wife, Mandy, always makes snickerdoodle cookies and fondly talks about the time her andĀ āFeeā got arrested because Fee kicked a cop in the balls or something.Ā
Doris was an army nurse during her youth and can curse well enough to make a sailor blush and has the bawdiest sense of humor to match. She spends most of her time knitting baby socks and hats to donate and volunteers at a community center where she sneaks food to any hungry teens who have all adopted her as their odd aunt.
Nada immigrated in her teens with her parents and has had to deal with Islamophobia her entire life. She wears a khimÄr that she knitted herself and laughs when Five genuinely offers to kill any assholes who harass her. Instead, she starts teaching him Arabic since her own grandchildren unfortunately do not speak it
Edith was trans before anybody even knew what that meant and she teaches Five patterns for interesting dresses and fancy sweaters since Five expresses some interest in diversifying his wardrobe (Five personally stands by the fact that skirts and dresses are the best because!! if you lift up front you have INSTANT POCKET/BAG which was very useful in the apocalypse!! of course now his family protest about him flashing underwear or whatever. Edith just introduces him to wearing leggings under and calls it a day)
Kathy killed her first husband and everyone knows it even if she was never convicted. She spends her days volunteering at centers for domestic violence and working with abused women and children. She tells Klaus and Five quite plainly that if Reginald were still alive she would kill him, and they laugh but they absolutely believe her. Five sincerely tells her he would kill her husband if he were still alive as well, and Kathy grins and winks and says she beat him to that one
and all the others. Sally who worked customer service her whole life and lived to tell the tale. Ruby who was widowed young and raised four kids by herself. Alice who is deaf and signs slowly because her parents thought she needed speech therapy to appear normal more than she needed an actual way to communicate. Becca was a teen during the civil rights movement and witnessed schools being desegregated, and is quick to remind everyone that it wasnāt as long ago as they think - she remembers the white kids jeering and the protests like it was yesterday. Susanās husband died in the Vietnam war and she is very quiet when she finds out that he was in Klausās unit.Ā
A rotating cast of women with vibrant and brilliant and unique lives who parade through. Some are fixtures, some come when theyāre able which isnāt often, some only pop in on the rare occasion when the planets align.
āGo get the salsa dip, Five.ā Kathy orders.
āWhy do I always have to fetch everything.ā Five complains, even as he stands up.
āBecause you can teleport.ā Kathy says with a shrug,Ā āIf I could teleport then it would be me going to get the salsa, wouldnāt it?ā
Five goes and gets the damn salsa.
One time a new woman is very confused and asks about Klaus and Fiveās presence at the Womenās 50 and over knitting club (āItās the stitchĀ ān bitch,ā Klaus mutters under his breath and is ignored) and everyone just kind of shrugs.Ā
āWomen and nonbinary old person support and knitting group?ā Edith suggests but everyone agrees that thatās a bit of a mouthful.
āBut theyāre too young?ā The new woman asks again, helplessly.
āActually Klaus fought with my husband in the Vietnam war.ā Susan interjects cheerfully before Klaus can start his theatrics, passing the oatmeal raisin cookies to Hannah who is cackling delightedly,Ā āAnd Five assassinated President Kennedy, I think.ā
āAllegedlyĀ assassinated President Kennedy.ā Five corrects with a flourish of his knitting needles as Kathy nods in approval.Ā
āOh.ā The new woman says, faintly.Ā āOh, I think I need to sit down.ā
āDonāt worry, dear.ā Sally comforts,Ā āItās only that family which doesnāt make sense. You can probably count on the rest of the world to be at least a little bit sensible.ā
āI find it offensive that no one here thinks Iām not too young to be here.ā Becca interjects and that sets everyone off laughing and falling over themselves to assure her that sheās as pretty as a picture and fresh as a daisy
iām having a lot of fun with this as you might be able to tell. Just. Five and Klaus joining in old people things because Five IS old and Klaus fought in the vietnam war so you bet your ass he is demanding the senior citizen discount at restaurants
i feel like Agnes should join the group after her romantic tour of bird sanctuaries with Hazel. Hazel himself is not sure how to feel about Klaus and Five being in the same knitting club as his girlfriend but Agnes is clearly having fun and she makes homemade doughnuts for meetings which means the club isnāt letting go of her voluntarily anyway
AND THEN YEAH i always loved the concept of Klaus meeting up with some of the guys from his old unit and all of them just being kind of likeĀ āah klaus you fucker i never actually took you seriously about the time travel shit i just thought you were on some serious drugsā and immediately just adopt klaus back into the fold
and i mean five is also a soldier in a low of ways so i feel like he would also really fit in with their gallows humor and serious knowledge of weapons. Of course, both Klaus and Five also look young enough to be their grandchildren so they also highkey just straight up adopt them and are fully willing to loom ominously at anyone who bothers them
the hargreeves go to pride and Klaus is likeĀ āoh Iām meeting up with some friends as well :)ā and the others assume theyāre like. party friends he made or ex boyfriends or something and then this big gang of old war vets materialize from the crowd decked out in rainbows bc they do this every year - originally in honor of Klaus and Dave but now klaus is again so Time To Party B)
FiveĀ āvolunteersā in a nursing home and all the staff think heās adorable and precocious but actually he complains about technology and reminisces about the great depression and beats the occupants at checkers as he and his opponent trade stories about which joint and bones they can feel storms coming in
just AGE APPROPRIATE FRIENDS
#ask me#stelte23#you - i like you#i agree that five should not be paired with any teen ever#where's that one gif of the vampire dude being like 'people are like what's what young thing doing with that thousands of years old vampire'#with his 80 yr old gf#far tua long#tua#the umbrella academy#five hargreeves#number five#klaus hargreeves#i had too much fun with this as you can probably tell#klaus is technically only 30 including his year away#but the club handwaves that away#he's the only one they made an exception for#can i admit that the 'ladies over 50 stitch and bitch' is actually a concept from a different drabble i wrote in class today#bc of something my prof said#so i guess that drabble is a prequel to this yelling bc that's pre five being persuaded to go

hey, i hope this is not too syscourse-y to ask (if it is feel free to ignore), but how do you not let syscourse get to you? i have most things related to it blacklisted but every once in a while i will come across posts where ppl talk about "being plural", being "a system" etc. in That Way and i ignore it every time but i have a hard time regrouping afterwards and keeping straight what is what even though i know what they discuss is different from what i have.
This probably won't be syscourse specific, since I sorta disengaged from online discoursing before I was diagnosed, but hopefully this will still be helpful.
I block tags, blogs, etc liberally
I feel like people act like it's some huge thing for you to block a blog when like...most of the time they don't even know you've blocked them. If I see something I don't like, I block the blog. I don't want someone I've seen have stupid takes in the past to add one to my posts, so I block in advance. Hell, you don't have to "be in the community" for anything if you don't want to. I've done whole social media purges where I unfollowed dozens of blogs of smth I was into because it was bringing me more stress than it was worth, and I just talked about that stuff with my small group of friends. Just because you don't engage with X on social media doesn't make you any less of a "real" X or whatever.
Consider why you're engaging in discourse
"Engaging," in this context, means anything from scrolling tags you know you'll find things that upset you, visiting blogs you know have takes you don't like, picking fights with people online, posting things you know will cause controversy just because you want someone to argue with you, etc. Is it because you're bored? Is it because you have aggression you want to get out? Is it because you don't feel secure in your opinion until you debate it with someone? Is it because you want to show that you have The Right Opinion? What need isn't being met that you're trying to fill by arguing with people online? There are other ways to fill that need.
Remember you don't have to get everyone to agree with you
Let me frame this with a little humblebrag: public speaking is something I am very good at. I have been paid to facilitate conversation around stuff like racism, mental health, etc. And this is to say, according to third parties, I am good enough at "discourse LARPing" that people are willing to pay me money for it. And yet, even when I use my most even tone and most eloquent arguments and provide direct sources etc etc etc, there are still people who will vehemently "no u." Online even more so, because since there isn't a face and a name along with a blog (usually,) people get more combative and more argumentative. At some point, you just have to give up and hope that some day later on, they'll reflect on what you said and possibly change their minds on their own. But they might not. But that's okay.
Know when it's appropriate to discourse
One of the worst experiences on Tumblr dot bad have been when you're venting about something, and someone you don't even know comes in with an "um, actually-", especially when it's something you already know. Sometimes ppl just gotta vent, and you have to respect that and let them.
Get a hobby
No seriously. I know it's a common like. Insult or whatever, but seriously. Find something else you're passionate about. Not to sound old beyond my age, but being on the internet too much is bad for you. Find something else to do so that Tumblr (or wherever else you're seeing these things u don't agree with) doesn't take up so much of your time.
Volunteer IRL for something you're passionate about
I used to be involved in soooo much discourse online, and then I started volunteering, then working, in IRL social justice spaces. Not only did this show me what parts of discourse were 100% online issues and thus...not really relevant at all IRL (and IMO not worth getting worked up about) but it also cemented in me the opinions that I REALLY care about, and strengthened them.
This last point I think is most important. Online discourse doesn't. Really ultimately change much. It's wayyy more stress than it's worth. When's the last time you felt accomplished or happy doing online discourse? For me, I don't think I ever did. I did it to get mad. But when you've actually organized that protest or finished that speaking engagement or whatever? You feel accomplished and happy, and like you've changed something. You get more positive feedback than negative, usually.
A lot of nonprofits you can just sign up to volunteer for, and a lot even give you training. Or just go to a protest and socialize and you'll find someone who has connections to something. I got my position at a nonprofit because I got confused about what time to arrive to their community center and just. Sat in on a meeting and then they asked if I was coming back next week. A lot of nonprofits are super open to new members, and are MUCH more forgiving than online discoursers. If you make a mistake you get gentle correction or helpful education instead of shaming. You don't even have to do it regularly if you don't like. Just stay away from the big corporate-y ones like Peace Corps or Americorps and stuff.
This is super messy I wrote it at work between breaks LMAO I'll probably revisit later, but LMK if this is helpful or u have any other questions or smth

bio. info
letās try and make this short n sweet
so like. yāknow when a faerie steals a human baby and replaces it with itās own, weaker, inferior baby? benjy is the human baby in this case
except they werenāt faeries
dorothea and fawley were two...somewhat, in love, folks--who had really wanted to have a child of their own. when they did, finally, have their child--he was very sickly and small and neither of them wanted their child to be weak goddammit
so they did a switcharoo, like...switched at birth except iāve never ever seen switched at birth, and ran off with this extremely rich familyās newborn baby instead!
dorothea and fawley were part of a circus, and thus, lil benjy was raised in a circus !! how cute.
needless to say he was raised in a very nontraditional setting, like, homeboy was homeschooled bc they were literally always travelling, around the country and once or twice out of country.
despite that, he never doubted that his circus family didnāt love him or anything like ?? yeah he never called hisĀ āparentsā mom or dad, but thatās bc it was like...everyone was his parent.
dorothea and fawley told benjy that his name will never define him, and he could be anyone or anything he wants to be.
this caused a tiny benjy to be CONSTANTLY changing his name. like, almost everyday heād just declare a new name and everybody in the circus would call him that specific name. even when he did acts, heād go by a different name every single time
this carried onto adulthood and benjy still doesnāt tell people his real name very often. sometimes theyāre sort of normal names n other times theyāre fucking bizarre.
when he was seven he declared his name wasĀ āsockā for an entire month.
grew up doing a buncha odd lil jobs and roles in the circus, from being a lil handyman like fawley to being a magicianās assistant like dorothea. tāwas a lil tiny animal tamer (before the circus stopped using animals in their acts because we donāt stan circuses like that no we do NOT) at some point but reeeaaally liked tightrope walking and things as such
also tried his hand at fire-throwing/etc. etc. but the like eighteen (minor!) burn scars across his body will tell u that it was not for him and he gave it up to pursue knife throwing tricks and juggling
wasnāt rly ever around ppl his own age, also never had a smartphone before he was like eighteen or so--heās not old fashioned but he can definitely be behind on the times
also grew up listening to primarily older rock/folk music/whatever the fuck music his family created/his own music
that being said benjy is good w a guitar but bitch cannot sing. he sounds like a dying frog.
he also did a bunch of petty theft but thatās bc some of the other folk in the circus did it and he was like huh. looks like fun. bc benjy is thoroughly an idiot but more on that later. so he got some shit on his record but he got them sealed when he turned 18, like, asap
but. benjy is a dumbass. he committed ANOTHER petty crime, because the boy has addictive qualities, and he left some dna evidence bc boyās got some mf hair
surprisingly, it wasnāt through his records that they found him via his dnaĀ but, rather, his real parents who did a whole ass dna kit thing for fun one day
this came as a shock to everybody involved, honestly, though tbh ? benjy didnāt care that much that he had parents who werenāt the circus, but thatās bc of his entire upbringing.
either way his birth parents wanted to like. yāknow. meet their delinquent biological son and when they did they were likeĀ āwoah woah woah wtf ur in a circusā and he was like haha yeah
n that was...sort of it, for a while. benjy was 18, had his GED, n wasnāt planning on going to college at all.
the circus was still traveling, the world was all right, etc. etc, benjy maintained contact with his bio parents bc it was Polite to do
and then the circus burned down! somebody did a flaming knife trick when they werenāt supposed to and, long story short--the entire circus went up in flames. there were no victims, no worries, but their entire livelihood was gone and they were all effectively displaced.
when his Rich Biological Parents found out about benjyās newfound predicament that he 100% was not responsible for whatsoever, they were like . . . . listen. weāve got a Reputation to uphold, but weāll send you to college.
heās been here since he was like, 21, so heās a junior i think ??
heās majoring in political science but itās like technically his first year as the major bc his freshmen yr he wanted to do anthropology and then he switched to mathematics and homeboy was nvr satisfied but now he thinks he wants to do smth w social welfare so heās doing political science w theatre and public affairs as minors
personality
heās got. a big personality
heās got this sort of energy that attracts others but they donāt really know why bc holy shit benjy can be annoying
heās just super intense ?? like the boy does not know how to calm down, heās constantly moving around and being dramatic and sometimes whiny
pouts more than a person should averagely pouts
i wouldnāt call him a liar because he can be, very very blunt, and doesnāt know how to beat around the bush, but he likes telling half-truths simply to either confuse others or to just b a lil bitch tbh
heās got big dumbass energy like okay heās smart he just doesnāt apply himself very often and he just. does dumb things
gets into fights bc heās a dumbass. like. he will purposely provoke ppl he doesnāt like, n when heās drunk heāll do it to literally anybody esp ppl he likes
also just. doesnāt know when to stop talking. can find ways to ramble about nothing, asks questions w the intent of being annoying, etc. etc.
his ~parents~ didnāt rly believe in modern medicine n they were just likeĀ āan apple a day keeps the doctor away!ā so heās got this obsession w apples. literally is always chewing on an apple or a toothpick or anything he can get his hands on. heās like a teething toddler, essentially
probably the dumbass who plays wonderwall at a party tbh
okay but fun fact! heās super nimble and just. cat-like, from all his yrs of practicing n performing tightrope walking. if he falls over itās because he wants to fall over and if he falls over itās bc he wants ATTENTION
he loves. being the center of attention? but heās also content with being in the background if it makes sense. he just wants to be doing something, anything
anyways he doesnāt take shit seriously at all like, i donāt think heās ever had a serious conversation in his life ?
big slut for parties. he loves partying, he nvr knew he loved partying until he went to ucla but he loves it
heās got an addictive personality so like okay. heās not Addicted Addicted to anything specific (besides nicotine) but he definitely has no problem with drinking n doing drugs Often.
i mean heās reckless too he never knows when to stop, feels like heās tryn to be the Superior boy but heās not and heās probably overcompensating nowadays to deal w the guilt of accidentally burning down his entire life
drives cars too fast, drinks too much, has no problem getting into heavier drugs
also okay on a lighter note the boy used to be addicted to cigarettes bc he started fairly young but hoo boy heās now on that juul game
literally he always has a juul on him. spends all his money on juuls
he works as a florist n a gardener for extra cash even tho his bio parents send him money, just bc its one of the only things that really calm him down tbh ??
also i meant it when i said he doesnt tell ppl his real name, like, ever. at least his first name bc he loves his last name but ? u probably dont know him as benjamin or even benjy, just smth stupid like marcellus the magnificent or booboo the fool hahahsdfgh
did i mention he casually juggles bc i genuinely cannot remember lmao
uuuhh thereās more iām sure but !! i have a really bad memory!
i also dunno if im keeping his fc but we will SEE
heās basically like....still a five yr old child
OH okay so i remembered smth else
heās essentially a nomad which means he hates being rooted to ucla so heās usually off drivinā around the coast bc heās bored goddammit but he always comes back bc heās a loyal dog
speaking of loyal dogs. heās got commitment issues. but not commitment issues? itās sort of like. he gets really interested in things/people, kind of focuses all his energy on that thing or person, and then one day wakes up and is just. terribly bored. tends to drop ppl like that, esp relationships, and he doesnāt think much of it bc itās Normal for him
but believe it or not, if u call him in the middle of the night he WILL show up, or if u wrong him instead of him wronging u, heāll still b endlessly loyal
like heās shitty but heās got a heart ?
also like i said. he is chaotically bi. both chaotic and bisexual and also the two combined.
heās chaotic neutral in general
wanted connections ?? possibly ??
frat bros - [hulk hogan voice] brother. he needs them
general friends ! - if u dont hate him then u just. love him, man. no inbetween
exes - heās probably got...a few of these, because his attention span lasts like a max of two weeks
hookups - they also dont tend to last very long just bc of how he is as a person, but yāknow. they good while they last
ex-hookups, specifically
ex-friends - bc heās an idiot
if u really want to u can bring in a circus pal but firstly idk how theyād afford school but honestly. we can work smth out. hmu [kissy face]
roommate - do they hate each other ?? who knows
bad influence - they only egg on benjyās dumbass behavior
good influence - probably forces him to study for once, or take care of his dumb ass
idk what to call it but like. ppl who HE eggs on to be bad, is generally toxic to the other person
anything else u want [another kissy face]
