part of my problem with the radiation infection storyline in ravagers is that the story is basically trying to grab you by the shoulders and scream "look!!!! rose is trying to save people!!!! maybe shes not so bad after all 😇" but if you actually look at her motivations and what shes doing, its all for entirely selfish reasons and it feels ridiculous to even pretend that maybe shes not the bad guy in this story because shes telling her partner not to murder thousands of people because the heroes will find out about it. not to mention that it suddenly retroactively pretends she used to have been cartoonishly evil this whole time even though from what we have specifically seen in the new52 shes really just deathstroke lite, not "let a bunch of children die in a burning building" evil. it was like they were simultaneously setting up a halfassed redemption arc and a halfassed villain arc at the same time only for it to not even matter in the last issue because deathstroke just kinda shows up and kills everyone then its over

most otome gamers (and i think joseimuke a bit too?) will talk about the MC (main character) and their various LIs (love interests), shoujosei readers who've been in the scene a long time use similar terminology

capital R Romance capital N Novel fans (like think pulpy books with shirtless men on the cover u see in the corner of the dollar store) have a BUNCH of different standards like i used to see H and h (hero and heroine respectively) and nowadays i mostly see MMC and FMC (male main character and female main character) for straight romances and sometimes for gay ones we get like fmc1 and fmc2 type situation, its rare but ive also seen the occasional nbmc here and there

ive been noticing with like korean webnovels and manhwa marketed towards women, the terms FL (female lead) and ML (male lead) are everywhere, sometimes i see second male lead too? i dont know how that would be abbreviated tho....

the japanese live action drama adaptations of shoujosei manga also use the same FL ML style terms, which is interesting compared to the source manga communities who usually use the MC LI terminology instead. watching tv shows is hard for me so i dont know but maybe drama fans use FL ML in general

and speaking of leads, older writing about north american romcom movies used "leading man" and "leading lady" all the time. sometimes you'll also hear me specifically use it to talk about romance media to someone who is not interested in romance media LOL im using language that most laymen understand please have patience with me

but it is my favourite thing when i see one groups terms in another group, like when i see someone say FL in an oldschool shoujo discussion board. hee hee i know u came from the drama adaptations and i love you for it!!! we use different words but we're all here for the love of the game (the game is sparkly stories about fictional characters kissing)

Has anybody ever like. Asked Yuri Lowenthal why he pronounces Japanese words so. Emphatically? Like on paper it's cool that he pronounces things correctly and it does annoy me when dubs pronounce jp words either wrong or with heavy American accents but like. Lowenthal stands out as the ONLY va to my knowledge that does that consistently with that much emphasis throughout his whole career. I'm just curious whether he does it on purpose or it's just a habit for him or like what man. Has anybody ever asked him in an interview or something about it????

i wanted to try out lightly stylizing dunmeshi characters by drawing their different body types in my headcanons!

some notes:

marcille is very stick-like with GIANT ears. theres no real reason for this, except i wanted to make her look like a noodle.

falin is very soft and squish AND strong, and could DEFINITELY crush marcille in one go. in my mind, a lot of that muscle mass came from being a chimera

laios is built like a wrestler, so i wanted to make him rectangle shaped compared to his sister's pear shape. the easiest to draw by far, but his hair was a pain

kabru's armor and demeanor makes him look very round and approachable, but underneath all that hes on the pointier side. i wanted to give him a bit of a dexterous look. he's still a sword swinger, but his fighting style seems a lot more agile than laios... at least when it comes to humans!

they're all trans in my headcanon. kabru doesnt have top surgery scars because he had a small chest to begin with. marcille also has a small chest, but that's not at all unusual for elves.

laios already got top surgery but even after that his chest is still larger than both kabru and marcille, lol. its all muscle, although i didnt draw it. there's a running gag about how he just donated it all to his sister, but with the way that dungeon revivals work who knows if its a joke or reality
