I've legit lost all ability to play DPS tho, somehow. Tank I can sorta play, healers I can definitely play, but DPS? I'm a laughing stock nowadays.

Which isn't the greatest feeling when you're completely sweaty about your own performance, but when you can only make it to the freaking middle of the pack as a Viper, yeah I'm about ready to crawl under a rock and die of shame.

SOUL REAPER ICHIGO - who's slightly butsurelyo becomes depressed after breaking up with you and having second regret but he thinks he did the right thing.

SOUL REAPER ICHIGO - who had not slept, nor really eaten anything since he broke up with you. he just laid in his bed, staring at your empty side of the bed with a frown. he felt awful.. how could he be so careless..?

SOUL REAPER ICHIGO - who's since he had broken up with you, you had been feeling absolutely miserable. you had tried to text him, call him, anything to talk to him- but he was ignoring you and of course you found out he blocked you and now he was just laying in his bed, staring up at the ceiling.

SOUL REAPER ICHIGO - who his own friends tried to get him to open up about his whole relationship about you but he didn't give in at all.

SOUL REAPER ICHIGO - who just continued to lay there, his feelings for you not fading in the slightest. he still felt heartbroken, and the need to talk to you overwhelmed him. maybe he should just give up and try to move on, but he refused to do that. he refused to accept it.. that he did this ... he was one that did it.

SOUL REAPER ICHIGO - when he arrived at school and saw you, he felt an immediate pit in his stomach. you looked well.? which in a way, at least relieved him a little bit.. but still, he had broken up with him a few days prior. he tried to stay away from you as much as possible, but his eyes still ended up always being drawn to you..

SOUL REAPER ICHIGO - who even one of his best friends tried to get you back together ichigo had ranted to chad about the situation, so naturally, chad took on the mission of trying to convince you to go back to ichigo. it wasn't that he was being forced to do it, he just wanted to see his best friend happy again.

chad thought maybe he could help fix things. He approached you, with a gentle and kind expression on his face.

" hey.. could i talk to you for a minute..?" you lifted your head up slowly from the desk and you bit your nervously once you realized it was chad but you nodded

" um.. yeah sure.."

he noticed your reaction, but didn't make much of it as he sat down in the seat next to you. he gave a small sigh and glanced up at you. "listen, I'm probably going to sound real pushy, but.. i'm sure you know how ichigo's been since you two broke up, right?"

you just nodded slowly encouraging him to continue.

" well.. he's absolutely miserable and still really upset over you.” he was devastated when you broke up with him.." chad explained, his kind yet stern gaze still on you.

" okay...? he was the one who broke up with me.." you mumbled quietly but he still heard you.

" right.. sorry- i wanted to ask a favor. could you... at least try to talk to Ichigo? he really misses you.." before you could say anything else the school bell rang which meant it was time to go home. chad stood up from his seat, giving a small sigh as he heard the bell. it was just his luck that the bell had to ring right when he was about to ask that..

" yeah... just... please think about it, alright? ichigo's really not doing well.."

“ .. sure.. i'll think about it..” you said quietly under your breath as you watch chad walk out the classroom door leaving you to be alone in the classroom.

I have zero clue how to write "meet cutes" given I had to ask a friend what a meet cute was lol. Sooo... let's try and get through this together.

Death's meet cute scenario: His presence only comes to be known when your back is exposed to another demon creeping up on you, and when you do notice him, you're quick to question him whether he is a demon or not (following the above prompt) The meet cute is more of tense, sassy start, and the two of you just go back and forth between sarcastic marks like you're each in a competition of eating dry wall. "Of course he would lie, he's a demon." "Then doesn't that mean you would lie too if you were a demon?" Caught the Reaper a little of guard with that one and you're smug about it. "Hmm. I like you. I'm tagging along~!"

And that is how Death unwillingly got a human attached to him.

Strife's meet cute scenario: Now here is a meet cute kind of guy! He ends up coming across you and watches, biding his moment to come in and help, but... wow you're doing really well without his help. Still, he can't help but feel the need to give you a hand, make introductions- and then suddenly you're flung across the battlefield and straight into his towering form. Like an awkward shooting star heading straight for him. No give of a hint or "Look out!" as you both come colliding like two separate forces meeting. And yes you do for a split second meet each other's eyes and his arms are wrapped around you, the two of you splayed out together on the ground.

As the demon comes in to finish you both off, you each take up your respect ranged weapons and fire, the damage killing the demon. You both then look to each other.

"Strife."

"Y/N. Pleased to have met you."

He chuckles, "Likewise."

War's meet cute scenario: A dashing hero on a horse of flames and coal bedrock is your meet cute.

Yes, you had been taken prisoner into the ash lands and made to fight in the pits. War ended up finding your holding pen and breaking you out and together you watched each other's backs and where War saw you prove just how well you could hold your own against several demons by yourself. Even his watcher drawled in his curiosity of how a worthless mouth breather managed to do the things you were capable of.

And upon reclaiming his loyal steed, War hoisted you onto the saddle behind him where you clung onto him and were cutting down demons on the flank. It was just the unique and battle-forged bond you had with each other, able to work off each other's skills and there were a few points you caught the other's eye in the midst of your fights.

Finally dealing with the Chosen and claiming its heart, War offered if there was someplace he could take you in which you said you preferred to remain with him, your hand falling over the giant claw of his gauntlet as your mortal eyes blinked up at him through the biting, ashy haze of the bellowing environment.

Fury's meet cute scenario: There is nothing cute about this first meeting. Fury is a slow af burn much like Death. She's taunting and demeaning, hiding what smidge of impressiveness she has seeing you take on a demon like that. Those ones are pretty powerful and nasty, so seeing you get crafty with your gadgets and skills... it's something. You're a little awkward like humans are or at least odd. You're like an estranged... puppy looking at her the way you are.

When you mention Vulgrim by name she scoffs and you can tell she's rolling her eyes as she then begins to continue on her way, intending to leave you behind... but from the sound of your hurried footsteps, she knows you're tagging along.

It was late, but sleep was the last thing on her mind. She simply laid on the bed, starring at the ceiling above, letting flashbacks and thoughts consume her while her wristwatch on the nightstand ticked.

A gift.

She wished she could cry this out but she felt heavy. Heavy and—-

The doorbell rang and her breathing stopped. She waited, holding her breath for a few moments.

The ringing of her doorbell invaded the otherwise quiet apartment once more. She sighed, feeling the echoes of her thumping heartbeat.

The doorbell rang again, accompanied by knocking this time. 

Letting out a shuddering breath, she jumped out of her bed and grabbed her housecoat, slipping in it as she padded towards the door. Looking through the peephole, she shut her eyes and sighed. 

She saw this coming.

Putting the chain-link on, she unlocked the door, allowing the light from the building corridor to flood in from the tiny gap.

“Hello (Y/N).” He stood tall, dark eyes staring down at her from the gap “I’m here just to talk.” 

His voice gave away nothing. Always quiet, polite and to the point. But she could not trust that now– could not trust him anymore– now that she knew.

“John, I saw nothing—”

“There won’t be a chain-link holding your door then.” He cut her off, only to sigh and soften his voice “I promise I just want to talk.”

“How do I trust that?” She felt bile rising to her throat as she spoke, struggling to keep her voice steady.

John leaned closer, making her flinch step away.

“Because if I wanted anything other than to just talk,  this chain-link or door, or any door, can do nothing to stop me.” His tone did not change, nor did his voice raise.

He was calm as ever and she knew that there was no lie in his words. Feeling cornered and stripped of any other option, she unlocked the chain-link, letting the tiny but sturdy chain hang against the door as it opened wide in a smooth motion.

John stepped into her home in silence before gently closing the door shut. Her hold on her phone tightened instinctively. Although it was in her pocket, she prayed that he took no notice of that.

He loomed over her, dressed like any other man she would pass by. A plain white shirt, a pair of denims and a leather jacket. No one could picture him killing a man with a pencil. But she saw him do that two nights ago, and it would never be the same between them.

She had spent the last two days, terrified and paranoid. It was only a matter of time before he came for her, and there he stood, looming over her– the grim reaper dressed as a civilian. But even if his deep, brooding eyes pinned her down without giving away an ounce of his thoughts, she could at least try to evade her demise.

“John, I will forget everything I saw. I promise, I will not report you, not spill anything about it—”

“It doesn’t matter.” 

She flinched when he switched on the lights, illuminating the room. Under the light, she realised, he looked slightly less ominous. More human. His eyes remained brooding but she thought she saw it soften slightly. 

No, it had to be the lighting.

He sighed, looking away for a moment before meeting her eyes again. “I did not want you to find out like this.” 

No, if he could, she would have never found out what he did for a living.

“But now that you know, I want to come clean. So that we can start anew.”

(Y/N) gulped. Starting anew was out of question. After whatever she had witnessed, she wanted to do nothing with John, no matter how much it would pain her. Maybe love was not for her. 

“John…I thought it wasan understood fact that…” she trailed of, licking her lips as a frown settled on his face.

“What?”

“That—you know after what I saw and—I don’t think we shouldseeeachotheragain.” she hurried through words, scrambled through thoughts all the while trying not to shake under his gaze.

He sligthlty titled his head. His eyes gleamed under the lighting in a way that distinctly reminded her of the carnage he was capable of. 

“No.”

There was no question mark, or even uncertainty. He was declaring, not questioning. And that made her hold tighten over her phone.

“John I—”

“I know you’re scared right now.” he contemplated aloud “I understand. But we are still, very much one–together.” His voice lowered, but there was a sharpness to it.

Like he was waiting. Waiting to pounce.

She gulped, feeling beads of sweat appearing on her nose and above her lips. She waited with bated breath. But he only gazed down at her for a long moment, until she looked away, unable to look into his eyes any longer. The longer she looked, the more it remind her of…of the night.

“I will get going for now. Get some rest, Love.” He spoke after a long, tense pause.

And for the first time since his visit she felt she could breath in relief. She heard the sound of opening of her apartment door–

“I will see you tomorrow, at the cafe around the corner.” he declared, making her look at him.

He was clearly not done with her.

“Also…There is no use of calling the police. It won’t make any difference.” His gaze dropped to her pocket where she held the phone.

Her throat was suddenly parched as she met his unreadable gaze before he gently shut the door behind him.

i started another rook and i really didn't intend to make them so "i want that twink obliterated" but uh my hand slipped XD

this is björn ingellvar* (they/he, but sadly the game doesn't let you use mixed pronouns so i just use they/them in game) which just means bear and i realize they're not terribly bear like in appearance, but i think i'll rp it in personality more (ill be honest i liked the sound of it mostly and it had a meaning i can work with). Ingellvar was hard to pair with (i did consider making them a grey warden but i didn't vibe with thorne just yet and the mournwatch aspirational armor is kinda neat) Anyway they're a mourn watch warrior and so far a little more diplomatic/charismatic than my crow rogue rook. I had sort of thought to either romance bellara or emmerich this time round, but now i'm considering neve (trying to make myself make different choices! still an elf but eh). it's weird b/c when i started my other rook i didn't like any of the voices other than erika ishii's for them and this time i gravitated to one of the masc ones instead. so funny how characters shape themselves a bit, it's like oh this came together this way and now this voice is the one that is right. *various DA reddit threads suggested that nevarra is partially prussian inspired which does track with emmerich being an old german name. I spent several hours pouring through old german names which do also have a lot of cross pollination with various scandinavian names on several name etymology websites. Technically the german variant would be bjoern but whatever.

early thoughts on warrior: it feels a lot more underpowered than rogue from the outset. The weapon type swapping is a lot more awkward- rogue just uses r2 on controller to swap between knives and bow which feels really natural and fluid (and how a lot of other modern rpgs work, so you expect it). The war/mage use the d-pad to swap and it's just not as good of a feel (tho it is an interesting choice? the warrior swaps between sword & board and two handed, and mage swaps between staff and knife w/orb). i was def a bit like oh am i screwed, do i not get a ranged attack? but you sort of do (i think it would have been fine if war had arrows but i can see why they wanted to make it different) I like the idea of the captain america shield throw, but having to charge it up feels kind of bad (esp coming from the rogue where you just shoot your bow until you run out of arrows). Would have been better to have the shield throw just do something like that. (started towards the mourn watch tree and the shield throw is feeling better but wish it was better out of the gate you know?)

blocking is also a lot more important to the war kit and i'm bad at it (didn't really need to do it on rogue, just dodge quickly a lot) so we'll see if i can even stick to this. i don't want to block things except with my head, game. warrior also doesn't feel especially tanky per se, idk. doing this one on adventurer mode again but might turn it down (tbh rogue felt so op at the end there, i prob could have turned up the difficulty and been okay. maybe another future rogue rook if i'm ever feeling like a challenge ). i'm intrigued by the specializations (esp reaper i think) and i do think it'll get more fun as i unlock more skillz, but out of the gate a little clunky (i also started a mage rook and they also feel a bit weak compared to rogue. might like war more than mage for once??).

playing this a second time and knowing everything you can actually spot the Varric CLUES early. There's a point where you're talking to solas in that first fade convo and he actually cuts himself off from saying that varric is dead, like you get the TINIEST hint of the "de" before solas elongates it into it a "is good at his own half truths".

also in conversations with harding her palpable sadness hits harder and her dialogue makes a lot more sense. When neve comes into the recovery room to talk to you the first time (i think it's whoever was injured?), she doesn't even look at varric and talks over him a teeny bit too. It's really subtle, they did a good job of laying clues you wouldn't catch unless you knew (at least for me, idk maybe yall were onto them sooner lol)

Got to be Sejanus. By far who his name is based off of and who is is just…perfect.

Copied straight from the Wikipedia page, the very first paragraph;

“Lucius Aelius Sejanus (c. 20 BC – 18 October AD 31), commonly known as Sejanus (/sɪˈdʒeɪnəs/),[1] was a Roman soldier, friend, and confidant of the Roman Emperor Tiberius. Of the Equites class by birth, Sejanus rose to power as prefect of the Praetorian Guard (the Roman imperial bodyguard), of which he was commander from AD 14 until his execution for treason in AD 31.”

Like ok come on now Suzanne at least make me have something more to interpret!!

What’s interesting about him though is the fact that he is district born, and as we see in Katniss, Gale, Primrose, Madge, Mayfair, Carine (Katniss’ mom), Rue, Delly, and any non career district, district kids typically have fairly normal names or names related to their districts (Reaper the farming name from D11, Coral & Mizzen, sea & ship names from d4). While their names still have something to do with their character, they make more sense with district kids and are less obvious (will explain later).

However, with Sejanus, he was born in district two. His parents were from district two. Strabo even can be related to Strabo’s character but that’s for later.

Sure, it can be argued that district two is a career district, but Katniss & Coriolanus’ accounts together hint that this process took decades to be sure of and to really benefit from. District two would be a bit better off after the first revolution, but not much.

I just find it funny it’s so clear with Sejanus what he was always meant to be.

Strabo’s name is a bit more a stretch, but Strabo was an Ancient Greek geographer. He was mostly known for being, and I quote;

“historian whose Geography is the only extant work covering the whole range of peoples and countries known to both Greeks and Romans during the reign of Augustus (27 BCE–14 CE)”

He specialized in geography. District two is full of mountains (that Ma loves), and he literally moved his whole family. As I said, a bit of a stretch, but still there’s SOMETHING there.

Even the family’s last name, Plinth, means a heavy base supporting a statue or vase. Every part of Sejanus’ name includes some type of support, and it’s so apparent with just one google search. I love it, and we know so much about his character so it’s easier to make these inferences than it will be with the Ring Twins or Remus Dolittle, yet I will. This answer might have to be two parts lol.

Now onto other characters that we know just a bit better: Tigris, Persephone, Iphigenia, Vipsania, Arachne, and saving last for last, Coriolanus.

Firstly; Tigris! Tigris was the easternmost river out of two that defined Mesopotamia, one of (or maybe the) the earliest civilizations/cultures, dating back to 14,000 BC as the time period when people originally started settling. Because I’m not here to give a history lesson I’m not gonna explain the importance of a river to a civilization, but I went through 6th grade geography and suffice to say she was important as hell.

Tigris was believed to have been created by the God Enki, the Sumerian god of knowledge, crafts, and creation among other things. Tigris is continually proven to be resourceful, creative, and gives very much DIY girlie vibes, which sound a lot like Enki.

As I said before, the Mesopotamian region was one of the first civilizations. Many have theorized that mankind as we know it wouldn’t exist without Mesopotamia, and what would Mesopotamia not exist without? Tigris.

Tigris provided opportunities for the Mesopotamian region (Coriolanus) to grow, get stronger, become innovative, and provided for them. If that doesn’t scream Tigris I don’t know what does.

Now, Persephone! My favorite capital names are the ones from Greek mythology (I am a Percy Jackson fan page) or ancient mythology, because it’s less work to find connecting factors. Honestly I had no clue who Sejanus was, I just googled his name, and my mom is a Shakespeare fan which is how I know Coriolanus.

Anywho, for y’all who are normal, Persephone was the daughter of the farming/harvest goddess who was kidnapped by the death god. All versions of this myth agree on that. Some say that it was part of a deal with Zeus that Hades (the death god) knew about, but Demeter (farming/harvest goddess) didn’t. Of course these are definitely a very simple and quick way to describe Hades & Demeter, but it gets my point across.

The funny thing is, we don’t know much about Persephone in canon. I don’t know if Suzanne did this on purpose like she clearly did with Sejanus, but I find it interesting that whenever Persephone Price is brought up, so is cannibalism.

See, Nero Price, Persephone dad and Coriolanus was the main example that Coriolanus used to show how bad things were during the war. Coriolanus and Tigris saw him one snowy evening sawing off the leg of a maid with a large knife, wrapping it in the skirt from her waist, and going on his way. It makes Coriolanus question if he could ever be seen as edible, which is kinda funny to me lowkey, but the whole scene is on page 31-32.

Persephone. She is literally torn between the harvest (farmers food & stuff) and the underworld, the realm of the dead. Part of her myth is she stays there for 3 months and in the realm of the living for the other 9 because she ATE 3,pomegranate seeds. She ate something she wasn’t supposed to. Let me also mention, in different versions of the myth she wanted to leave or didn’t. When Festus and Persephone are getting close, Coriolanus questions if Persephone ever knew what was on her plate.

Now Iphigenia!! If y’all didn’t remember Persephone, I doubt yall will remember Iphigenia, as I only did combing the list of names Coriolanus had for interesting ones and finding her. She’s a very minor character- we don’t know much about her hobbies or likes and dislikes or her personality. But I’ll get to TBOSAS Iphigenia in a second.

I’m sure of y’all at least know the Trojan war. If anyone studied it specifically, you probably know Agamemnon. Here’s the paragraph explaining the story from Wikipedia;

“In the story, Agamemnon offends the goddess Artemis on his way to the Trojan War by hunting and killing one of Artemis' sacred stags. She retaliates by preventing the Greek troops from reaching Troy unless Agamemnon kills his eldest daughter, Iphigenia, at Aulis as a human sacrifice. In some versions, Iphigenia dies at Aulis, and in others, Artemis rescues her.”

You’re probably wondering, “wow, what could such a minor character have to do with that tale?”

When I say we get very little from her, I mean it. I don’t mean we get very little from her in the same way as I do when talking about Festus, or any other classmates. We know she doesn’t know if district 5 girl’s (her tribute’s) name is Sol or Sal (it’s Sol).

There’s one piece of information on her that stands out though. I’m going to paraphrase Coriolanus on page 252 when I say this- “her father oversaw food stuff in Panem, but she always looked almost malnourished. Clemensia had once said it was the only revenge she could take on her father but didn’t give any other details,”

boy oh boy. Because of this one, small little paragraph, Iphigenia has always interested me. When Clemensia doesn’t give any other details, she means it. NO details appear afterwards and Iphigenia is maybe mentioned once ever again. Trust me, I know. Every time I reread TBOSAS I look for different things, which is part of the reason I reread it sm.

We never know why Iphigenia takes revenge. We never know anything about her relationship with her father. There are so many possibilities (abuse, Iphigenia the rebel, etc), and considering her namesake’s issues with her father it’s just crazy the amount of detail Suzanne put into such a minor character.

Next, Vipsania- there’s actually not much I can say about her, I just thought it was a funny coincidence this is what came up when I googled her;

“Vipsania Agrippina (/ˌæɡrəˈpaɪnə, -ˈpiː-/; 36 BC – 20 AD) was the first wife of the Emperor Tiberius.”

Two things- first, recognize what emperor she married? Yep! Tiberius- aka the emperor Sejanus was a friend and confident of. I think Suzanne might’ve gone down a Tiberius rabbit hole, because her last is familiar as well- Professor Agrippina. She was the gym teacher, and Sejanus’ mentor. This little circle of names and relations is just funny to me is all, although there’s not much on VA in history or much to say about Vipsania.

Arachne!!! Gosh I love her. Well, I love how plain the connection is between her character in TBOSAS and her character in mythology. Really she’s pretty disrespectful and a jerk in both lol.

In Greek mythology, Arachne is a woman-turned spider, the first spider. Arachne believed she could win a weaving competition against Athena, goddess of crafts, because of how beautiful her work was and how much everyone complimented her.

Athena, hearing this hubris, disguised herself as an old woman and told Arachne not to boast like that. Arachne then challenged Athena, and told the old woman the only reason Athena hadn’t gone against her herself was she was too scared.

Of course Athena then revealed herself, and they battled. Athena’s weaver thing showed the Greek gods doing good stuff, Arachne’s showed the gods in their most unfavorable aspects. Due to this disrespect, and in some versions because it was better (tho I personally don’t believe that), Athena turned Arachne into a spider so she could weave forever.

The pride?? The taunting until it becomes serious?? The permanent change?? The rage that prompted the act?? Arachne as Arachne is the most perfect name on here, because who else would she be?? Another great one of Suzanne’s names. Genius.

Before we get to the last name, Coriolanus himself, let me point out I have no district people on here. Let this show just how interesting Strabo & Sejanus’ names are.

Finally!! The last one!! Coriolanus.

Coriolanus is actually quite disappointing compared to Sejanus or Arachne, but there’s still something here so I’m going to paste the Wikipedia on Coriolanus, the man Shakespeare based his play after & what happened in the play.

“Coriolanus is the name given to a Roman general after his military feats against the Volscians at Corioli. Following his success he seeks to be consul, but his disdain for the plebeians and the mutual hostility of the tribunes lead to his banishment from Rome. In exile, he presents himself to the Volscians, then leads them against Rome. After he relents and agrees to a peace with Rome, he is killed by his previous Volscian allies”

Now, unlike many of these other characters, Coriolanus’ relationship to his namesake mirrors his relationship to another character (Lucy Gray) more than his personality.

Coriolanus wants to be with Lucy Gray, but eventually due to his hatred of the districts and love of the capital, he ends up turning against her. He starts out wanting to help her, yet his own disgust only ends up hurting him.

Coriolanus is eventually killed by his former allies, what he’s created. That’s what happens in the original hunger games series. When Coin does the faked bomb drop, everyone he worked so hard to make love him turn against him quickly. He revolutionized the capital and they turned against him.

He almost changed his own feelings about district people and it ended up almost taking his life and career.

Help I forgot there was another part to the question 😭. Anywho if I was gonna write some, I’d probably just use random names or if I had a really good and accurate name (or totally opposite name) from mythology or a poem or something I’d use that and make it correspond to the character.

This is embarrassing, but a lot of the names from crimson rivers, a hunger games/marauders au stuck with me! Nothing specific, but anything that wasn’t a marauders character always made me go “huh! I like that!”

In conclusion though, Suzanne is a genius. As I said, I might have to reblog this later with more names if I ever think of any. This is probably my most researched answer, due to all the mythology and Wikipedia searches I had to do, so sorry that it took longer! Usually I just remember things and explain them lol.

I love that in Veilguard we got to finally be in Tevinter, Antiva and Rivain!! I've been dreaming about visiting these places since DA2 came out.

I LOVE the character creator!!! I used to have wild daydreams that one day in DA I get to change my OC's height or MAYBE make them thin or fat??? but I never actually thought it would happen.

I am eternally grateful that Veilguard gave me Lucanis and Spite. they're definitely the type of characters that I love (two people / entities forced to share one life and figure out their differences), and they're much more than just a trope I like! I found so much depth, so many things to analyze in these two characters. to me, they are the perfect duo I can fangirl over :D

I love how much lore we got and that we finally got lots of answers about the evanuris and the titans! and they did it in a way that we still have more, new questions, and we got glimpses of mysteries we haven't been aware of before!

AND SOMETIMES some of the main quests (like Weisshaupt) felt a lot like ME3 but in the DA world in a good way. it was exciting, dynamic, i was yelling at blight tendrils and dragons and it was epic! it did feel like I was running around on Tuchanka, dodging reaper lasers while being chased by brutes, trying to summon a huge thresher maw that might kill me along with the reapers :'D

lucanis and spite yessss. lucanis fascinated me immediately bc, again, went in knowing nothing and i was like. my guy. u have wings. why do you have wings? they are badass purple wings and all but uh. why? and then more and more info and i was kinda biting my tongue a few times like oh no is separating them gonna be the end goal here... but it wasn't! it was totally the opposite! instead of forcing them apart, rook ends up caught between them and helping them take the first step to seeing each other more clearly; after that encouraged first step, the rest is on them, and they really, really manage it. and eventually everyone seems to fully accept that they have spite as a member of the team and i could cry 😭 it is So cathartic and So wholesome

honestly, yeah! like the gameplay is SO exciting! i love the mechanics of it, i feel like it's so organic to play (after the initial figuring shit out period ofc) and it felt really involved. like i wasn't just grinding my way through repetitive battles, i was actually caring about what was happening on my screen and having fun with the battles and sometimes even seeking them out just bc i was enjoying them

biggest mood, honestly :') veilguard gave us another chance to explore this world, and another character to do it through! i love this game so much, i love rook and how they have these core traits but also manage to feel so entirely unique, even between playthroughs. like my second rook feels really, really different from my first, but it's not like i'm having to supplant the differences mentally like "okay well she wouldn't say any of this but ig this one is fine" kinda stuff. i actually feel p able to play everyone in character c:

I love learning that games for a console that was discontinued in 2013 are still leagues out of my price range. And that if I only had the next version up of said console I could have paid like $30 and had a Pokémon game. Now I want to figure out how to get an R4 card without getting scammed, because I could care less about having an OG physical card but I am also… not the most technically inclined. At least not when it comes to video games, for whatever reason. I just wanna play the game.

Undertale. Don’t know why I started drawing it again but here we go. I started thinking of my original phase because of all this, and I was weirdly, unironically obsessed with Nice Cream Guy X Burgerpants back then??? The underpaid service workers ship. The capitalism pals.

Also thinking of my original, childhood Undertale phase, I decided to redraw my old self-inserts. Classic. In the time when I didn’t have social media and was watching Tumblr ask blogs on YouTube to get my fandom fix. I wholeheartedly believe younger me would have both loved Tumblr and also have gotten bullied off the platform. Thank god I was never brave enough to make an account.

Anyways, from what I can remember, both of these characters were 14 at the oldest. I was young enough to think that was mature. The cat was a super smart scientist who worked at Grillbys and was also a part of the Royal Gaurd, somehow? Normal undertale timeline. Was either related to or friends with Burgerpants? The only reason I hesitate to say they were related is because I know they weren’t father/daughter or brother/sister and those were practically the only two relationships I thought were allowed back then. Liked Temmie a lot. Maybe had a Sans ship thing????? The fox… I mean I know they started off as just a redesign of the cat to make her more original but. Uh. After finding a blurb in an old sketchbook from that time: she is a creation of Ink and Error (????) and was raised by them, tried to kill “their Chara” (????? I thought they were created by the void crew??? Where’d Chara come from?) and won but also died, where their dust “traveled the multiverse” (How?) till it fucking possesses a body created by Gaster and Sans in a little AU (????????) but this AU breaks and becomes the Void (HUH??) and is AGAIN raised there until she is 11 with the goal of killing “their Chara” (girl I thought you did that already). She finds her way back home (Ah, void #1) eventually and is a “Multiverse traveling reaper.” Also she likes Underfell Sans. I give younger me 10/10 for creativity, but a C for continuity because????????? Either I thought I’d remember the extra details or I thought it was obvious somehow? At least the cat I can just justify as just a person who needs to work multiple jobs. We are missing data for the fox I swear. Lost to time, smh.

Steamworld Heist 2

It’s kind of crazy to me how many of the SteamWorld games there are now. Most indie titles never get beyond the first one, maybe a sequel if they did particularly well. But SteamWorld? This is the sixth game set in that universe and as far as I can tell they all build upon each other to expand the lore and history of it. With this game I’ve now played and reviewed almost every game in the series, the only one I haven’t being SteamWorld Build (which is the fifth game) but I do intend to get around to that.

For a long time now Captain Quincy Leeway has lived in his mothers shadow. She slew a terrible beast named the Kracken and became the ‘The Krakenbane’ before she eventually left the shard, and Quincy, behind. Captain Quincy has never been able to live up to the legend of his mother, but now perhaps there’s a chance. There’s something happening to the clean water, a vital resource for Steambots, and it’s causing them to rust. It’s up to Captain Quincy and his crew to get to the bottom of it. In SteamWorld Heist 2 you play as Quincy Leeway, though that's not entirely accurate. You actually play as both Captain Quincy and the misfit crew you gather through the game. The crew go on missions while the Captain runs the ship, accepts the jobs and generally is in charge.

Just like in the original SteamWorld Heist this is a turn based tactical shooter, at least when in a mission, which is a majority of the game. At the games start you only have two crewmates (and Captain Quincy), but as you play you’ll hire in more crew, quite a bit more. Each crewmate comes with their own innate skill which can be enhanced later in the game.

While on missions your crew can perform two actions. These actions are used to move, attack, reload (assuming the weapon requires it) or use an ability. If a crewmate attacks, regardless of it being melee or ranged, then their turn immediately ends.  Something to note is that also like in the original game the shots of both you and your opponents  ricochet off of surfaces and cover (unless the weapon says otherwise or is melee). This can be used to great advantage to hit enemies behind cover or perhaps strike an item in the environment that could be useful.

Each crewmate has a job while on missions, the job is essentially their class and determines what base skills they have. As the crewman completes missions as that job they’ll gain XP which unlocks more skills until the job max’s out at fifth level. You can change a crewmate's job by switching what weapon they’re equipped with. However, changing a crewmate's job doesn’t transfer XP or levels. So you may wonder why bother doing it at all, what’s the benefit? The benefit is that some skills unlocked within that job apply to any other job they also take on. There are some that don’t automatically transfer but even those can be carried over with the use of cogs. As you play your crew will gain cogs, which are utilised to purchase skills in a job that the crewmate has previously been. This system allows you to essentially create a build that works to take advantage of a specific crewmate’s innate skills. There are six job types each relating to a weapon type. Reapers use SMG’s (usually), Boomers concentrate on all forms of explosive firearm, Flankers focus on shotguns, Brawlers are entirely melee, Engineers use pistols and Snipers unsurprisingly utilise sniper rifles.  I could go into detail about each class but a lot of the fun is experimenting and seeing what tactics you can come up with.

Once a crewmate has been on a mission both them and their equipment is exhausted and cannot be used until you have rested at one of the many bars you can find in the world.

Resting will also recover any crewmate that has been destroyed while on a mission. If a crewmate is destroyed on a mission they’ll receive fifty percent of the XP they would have gained (assuming the mission is completed).  Completing missions doesn’t just give your crew XP, it also gains you reputation in the area and bounty points. This reputation will allow you to access better gear to purchase and if you max out the reputation in an area you can gain an extra bonus, though you’ll have to find it. The reputation given at the end of a mission is affected by if all your crew survived and if you completed the bonus objective (if there is one). Bounty points are one I struggle to understand how to get them. I’m not sure if I missed the tutorial on how they are gained but I honestly am not sure. What I can say though is that I still gained them at the end of missions so even not knowing how to gain them didn’t stop me from doing so. These bounty points are a currency that you can use once you rest allowing you to trade them in for items or resources.

The two main resources in this game are Gallons and Fragments. Gallons are the main currency used for purchasing weapons, items and hiring crewmates. Fragments are used specifically for upgrades be that to your submarine or the crew.

Unlike in the previous game SteamWorld Heist 2 has ship to ship combat, the weapons fire automatically so you simply need to focus on maneuvering. This added mechanic allows you to explore the world and there is quite a bit to explore. I recommend downloading the optional texture pack if your system can take it, it really makes the world map stand out.

Something I really liked about this game was the range of choices when it came to picking the difficulty, it even included a customiser which I thought was very considerate. You can even change the difficulty as you play if you found you had bitten off more than you could chew. I wish more games allowed for that.

I really enjoyed my time with this game, then again I haven’t found a SteamWorld game yet that I’ve been disappointed by. I can definitely say this is a much longer experience than the original though.

Help me pick a Phys Melee DPS for Lleidspaer

In FFXIV, I'm playing as Lleidspaer Grymhaswyn (from my fic series). Obviously the Lleidspaer from the game canon is different than in the fic canon, but most of the fanfic character was informed by my decisions in the game, so there's a lot of bleed back and forth between the two.

As a strategist/tactician, Lleidspaer is a Scholar main. Tactical skills are also in Machinist, so that's my phys ranged for her. Of the tanking options, Gunbreaker is the least bulky and/or traditionally armored, plus it shares some aesthetic with Machinist. Red Mage is the spellblade duelist archetype that fits Lleidspaer perfectly.

That leaves phys melee DPS. In the early game, I went with Rogue as opposed to Lancer and Pugilist, because Rogue as covert operative fit Lleidspaer well enough. Lancer was too stereotypically knight-like, and Pugilist was too much a rough-and-tumble brawler for the archetype I was going for. However, those three have long since upgraded to Ninja, Dragoon, and Monk; I also have Samurai, Reaper, and Viper.

Since I plan on leveling one of each role throughout Endwalker and Dawntrail, I need to choose one. Ninja and Viper use accessories of Aiming, which feels a bit redundant to me with Machinist, so I'd rather pick something else, although Viper is tempting in some ways (more on pros and cons below).

Criteria I am considering are: Does it use accessories of Slaying? Do I like the way it plays on controller up to level 70? Does it fit the sort of vibe I have in mind for the character?

Now, onto the pros and cons for each of the options:

NINJA: This is what I've been using up through the end of Shadowbringers. I'm not totally into the whole Ninja aesthetic; I still use rogue/pirate-based glamours, but the moveset doesn't fully mesh with it. I'm not into the whole Ninja/Samurai thing, and that's a substantial detractor. On the other hand, I think I'm pretty good with the job mechanics up through Level 80 -- although I do find the mudra to be a bit annoying. Also, as mentioned, it uses accessories of Aiming.

DRAGOON: It's all about jumping and dragons, neither of which are extremely synchronous with Lleidspaer's character -- but it's fairly inoffensive too, all things considered. Spear-based combat is fine. Classes of Maiming tend to have the heaviest armor options of Melee DPS, which is a small downside. Also, Lleidspaer has basically no (positive) emotional connection to Ishgard at all. Mechanically, I've got a pretty good hang of the class up to level 70 and I like how it plays.

MONK: Lleidspaer might be a Lominsan through and through, but she does have connections to Ala Mhigo. Her dad was a Lominsan Sea Wolf, and her mom was an Ala Mhigan Hellsguard. I picture Lleidspaer as more of a dex build -- a fencer with a rapier and offhand pistol -- so although the hamon holyfist "let's beat each other up until we're bruised!" school of pugilism isn't very lore-compliant for Lleidspaer, I can see her being an effective acrobatic fighter like Ty Lee from ATLA. Mechanically, on the other hand, I'm not sure I'm the best at Monk. The basics are ok, but the whole Perfect Balance -> Solar and Lunar Qadi is less easy for me to remember.

SAMURAI: Man, I'm probably going to be harsher on Samurai than I should, but I hated the Job Quests. Yeah, let's put a moral lesson that violent revolution against a corrupt status quo is bad, in the "violent revolutions" expansion! Anyways, I never had a ninja/samurai fan phase, so it falls flat in some places (like having all the attack names in Japanese -- I never remember what does what). I do like that it uses swords. Mechanically, though, it's hard to get all the skills to layout elegantly on controller. Maybe I'd be good at Samurai if I found a better controller layout.

REAPER: Ughhhhh. Reaper is creative but it's also not my style at all -- and, more importantly, not Lleidspaer's. Lleidspaer's approach to magic is usually more of the arcanima or alchemical variety, not the binding-voidsent-to-your-will variety. Anyways, scythes don't fit for Lleidspaer, and the generally-heavier Maiming armor doesn't either. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the way the combos work for Reaper.

VIPER: This one unlocks at Level 80, meaning I wouldn't have to level grind for it. Aesthetically, it's pretty perfect -- it's roguish, and it uses swords! But, like Ninja, it uses accessories of Aiming. On top of that, I'm not sure I like how it plays on controller. There's so few actions, and the same two buttons just keep transforming. It doesn't seem difficult necessarily, but I don't know -- after all, I'm still just the level it starts at. But for now I don't really enjoy playing it.

...I was going to attach a poll where I asked followers to help me decide, BUT I can't see more than one or two people reading this long rant and being invested enough, PLUS by typing it all out I think I've talked myself into using Monk, SO I guess I'm going to see how quickly I can powerlevel Monk to Level 80 in order to start Endwalker.

on the note of attaining bankai (and hopefully my bleach knowledge isn’t too shotty..): i think this is one of the things that irked me about bleach. we spend time hyping up ichigo for his feat of “attaining” this power in what? 3 days? (even if we’re talking true bankai…still not in that 10yr range by a long shot)…and all of the captains attaining such a special power over a longer period of time….and then we get even more ppl added to the list of having bankai (ikkaku, renji, rukia, etc)….zaraki bankai being added really adds the cherry on top to the dumbing down of or at least un-uniqueness of the power…i really would’ve been content with him only having shikai

Yeah, just posted a meta on this, but I agree with this as well. It probably irks me the most out of all the other bankai. Like yes, it would make more sense for Ikkaku to get it after he stops rigidly adhering to the Squad 11 code and metaphorically comes out of the closet, but we kind of needed the bankai for the closet metaphor in the first place, so I'll forgive that. Renji actually makes complete sense to me, like yeah he hasn't been a vice captain for 10 years, but he has had "beat Byakuya Kuchiki in a fight" as his life goal for at least that long, so I can see him having spent something close to the requisite time on it, and it dovetails very nicely with his character development.

Rukia...well, she's been a soul reaper as long as Renji has? She spent several weeks with a magic wishing ball inside of her and with a tremendously powerful guy who wanted his friends to be safe? I dunno, that's the only mechanical explanation I can think of as to why she got it so quickly. But at least it works on an emotional level, it means a lot to us, the reader, who cares about Rukia, to see her attain that level of power. And it's symbolic of her transformation from the sort of directionless, depressed, lonely person she was at the start of the story to the trusted lieutenant, confident fighter, and beloved sister that she is now.

And yeah, maybe all of those have mechanical issues at least as bad as Zaraki's. But the thing that grinds my gears (as I mentioned in the post below) is the narrative angle. The Ikkaku, Renji, and Rukia bankais all have emotional punch and make narrative sense, they further each character's arc, and you feel different about them afterwards.

Hi ^^ since the William content craving is at an all time high, would you mind sharing any of your thoughts, expectations, theories or whatever comes to your mind about William? I'd be curious to know what other William fans have to say about him :3 If you feel like it, thank you in advance!

Hi! Oh the William contenet craving is very much at an all time high! You get me talking about William and I could go on for hours! As for the question itself, I've always had one theory about William having a bigger role to play near the end of the story.

I swear I'm trying not to be William bias with this but I've always felt he might, reluctantly, team up with the Phantomhive's to stop the Undertaker because part of me thinks he might be the only one who could win in a fight against him? From all we've seen so far, Undertaker is a force to be reckoned with but William also has a great advantage with his scythe being long range if he wanted it to be. Other then Season 2 (which I know, isn't canon) and a little bit of Book of Circus when he confronts Sebastian outside the tents, we've never really seem him fight. We don't know really what he's capable of.

The most recent example I can think of is his most recent appearnce when he gave a smack down to the Bizzare Doll and sort of showed off how strong he has the ability to be because really, we know nothing about William. I mean, sure, we know nothing about the other reaper's as well but we've at least seen what they're capable of. We haven't really seen that with William. He's around enough to make you remember him but he's absent enough that it's hard to get a good grasp on him too.

Part of me, for years now, always had it in my head that during the climax of Black Butler (which Yana's getting ready for, WHICH I AM NOT) that he'll play a lot bigger roll. Maybe that's just be hoping because he's my favourtie character, but I feel like he's the trump card. He's strong, he's got the reach with his scythe, he's fast, he's a combination of Sebastian, Grell and Ronald when it came to their fight with the Undertaker during Book of the Atlantic. Maybe he's not a good fighter, maybe he's the weakest of the reapers but we don't really know that because we've never seen him do much outside of Book of Circus or pop up here and there with Grell or to save Ronald (or both of them).

Anyway, before I ramble even more, my biggest theory for William is that he'll become way more important later on and be a key in assisting to defeat the Undertaker. I feel like he's got hidden strength that we've not experienced yet and he's had it up to here with the Undertaker causing such distrubances, he'll eventually step in when the time is right to join the Phantomhives just so he can finally get some work done without being bothered all the time.

HE JUST FEELS TOO IMPORTANT AND UNIMPORTANT AT THE SAME TIME and that leaves me with many questions. I know we'll probably never get the answers about who he is/was, what his past is or why he chose to do what he did but having him as part of the "heros" would make me so, SO, happy.

Sorry for the delay in getting this out, I have been having some fun delving into a new AU for Warhammer 40k, Female Primarchs and the mayhem they would bring, and binging Fallout New Vegas with some mods in it.

Side Note: Lakelurks are assholes and I will make them all into sushi if one more hits me.

That said, I read this and I immediately pictured Peggy, Hella, and several others being introduced to the Rap Legend that is Eminem, the Chief would have a migraine by the end of the first few hours of hearing about his songs and them quoting said songs lol.

As for the idea of the MBCC branching off and making music videos featuring the sinners, it is certainly in the realm of possibility given Deren's reality bending powers, along with the potential resources of some of the wealthier sinners (Chelsea, Cabernet, Eirene etc), along with the talents of the more technically talented sinners, such as Summer, it would be rather simple for them to do so.

It would also be interesting to see some of the Sinners lend their voices or ideas to the lyrics and such for the songs, a real surprise being the potential for the Grim Reaper herself, Nox, lending her voice and the voices of those within her to the song.

Somehow, I feel this idea would work in a very amusing way if the Chief and Nightingale were unaware of just what it was the Sinners were up to, until they see one of the videos as an ad lol.

Additionally, I feel that the Sinners would enjoy a rather diverse range of music, with some like Chameleon and Eirene enjoying classical such as Bethoven and Mozart, while others, such as Mr. Fox and maybe Demon or Langley might enjoy older style music such as Frank Sinatra, at least those are my takes on the matter.

Although, now I am curious, which genres of music do you feel the Sinners and Staff of the MBCC would enjoy?

Also, and this is due in no small part to my renewed fascination with the setting, how do you feel the MBCC would react to being shown the world of Fallout, or how a crossover between the 2 worlds would go with Fallout being set on another landmass opposite to Dis and Eastia?

Warhammer 40,000: Black Templars Changes for June 20, 2024

I originally was keeping Templars in the Additional Factions post I've been preparing, but after seeing all the Space Marine changes I feel they need more attention.

The former kings of the Space Marine factions, the Templars are still doing well for themselves. Still, there are two things that fans would probably like addressed for them. The first is they're underrepresented at top tables. The second is that they're almost always taken as an Ironstorm list. Still, as long as the faction is performing this well, it's unlikely we'll see their detachment adjusted before the Codex drops.

Just as expected, the Balance Dataslate only includes the changes to Impulsors and Repulsors that Space Marines are getting. Similarly, they've received no new errata. The FAQ though includes the first confirmed rule that works when a unit is in Strat Reserves. The other two FAQs are pretty simple clarifications.

The only points changes they're getting is increasing the costs of the Reaper and Valliant to match the Lancer. I'm honestly a bit surprised here, but apparently GW still isn't happy with how well Templar vehicles operate in Ironstorm. Maybe they think Templars will need a little tap to not spring back up too much with the top armies coming down.

But this is honestly only the first part of their changes. Since Templars still draw heavily from Codex Space Marines, the changes to that Codex have significant effects on them. The first is that Templars must now take their Chapter specific vehicles. No more trying to fit additional Datasheets in or using a cheaper Space Marine variant when points get tight. They also can't take Psykers, but no true disciple of Sigismund puts Psykers in their lists.

Many of the changes to Ironstorm feel targeted at them though. As I mentioned in my post on Codex Space Marines, using Master of Machine War to rush Templar vehicles into melta range was fun, fluffy, and powerful. That's now limited to one vehicle per turn. Other changes to the Detachment don't help either.

This doesn't mean Templars are in a bad place. They still have two more powerful detachments to pull from, and some Templar players have even had some luck with Gladius. They'll probably still struggle to reach top tables a little, but their win rate isn't likely to slide much. Hopefully with the hits to the top factions, they'll at least be no worse off.

Have any of the Overwatch Agents been harmed by Talon? Canonically since the fall? I could only imagine any unexecuted agents would end up in Moira's laboratory for testing.

I also wonder how everyone would react to that if that were the case.

I mean technically Reaper counts for this? Cause it's heavily implied that he would have survived Zurich without Moira's intervention and if Moira didn't interfere we don't really know if he would have still joined Talon.

Other then that I do think old Overwatch agents would have been killed by Talon at this point. Reaper got the location of old Overwatch agents for a reason and it's confirmed that they are being hunted down, so it's wishful thinking to believe that no one has died. We also do know how some characters reacted to old Overwatch Agents are being hunted, Ana left Jack to go protect them or at least warn them, Jack is concerned but he's so focused on finding out the truth that he can't get distracted, Winston initiated the Recall.

I do think other characters are aware of this, specifically Cassidy, Angela and Tracer, as Cassidy has probably been victim to this hunt at this point, Angela could probably figure it out on her own and Lena was in close range to Winston and was the one to immediately answer the Recall. Other then that I think others would be horrified, the more heroic characters probably wanting to go help them, but as of now they are currently busy with Null Sector and they can't.

As for other Overwatch Agents being experimented on by Moira... honestly I don't know how likely that is, maybe not Overwatch agents but ex-Blackwatch Agents are defenitly being experimented on. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if there were more Talon Troops like the Sniper, Assassin and Heavy Assault enemies in Retribution.
