when lenore dove comes to me now, she’s not angry or dying (…). she’s grown older with me, her face etched with fine lines, her hair touched with gray. like she’s been living her life beside me as the years passed, instead of lying in her grave. still so rare and radiant.
prints + merch + commission info pinned to profile :)

the boy with the fire starter created the sparks for the girl on fire.
Suzanne Collin’s just said fuck you to everyone who’s ever critiqued the Hunger Games as being a “teen girl saves the day” story. She said oh, Mockingjay didn’t make it clear enough? Here’s a book about how people have been rebelling for decades only to have their efforts suppressed and propagandized. Rebellion takes time and it takes failure and Katniss may have been the spark that ignited the wildfire but she did so standing atop the doused flames of everyone who came before her.

Haymitch is so careless with food consumption during his games in comparison to Katniss. YET HAYMITCH BEING CARELESS WITH FOOD IS WHAT KILLS LENORE DOVE !!!

I cannot wait to get my hands on this book RAWRRRRRR
gotta love Suzanne Collins' dedication to dropping a banger every few years, re-traumatizing a whole generation and disappearing back into the abyss without a single word

Why are people in this fandom acting like many of the new things in sotr were always planned? The QNA at the end makes it pretty obvious many things came later esp the Louella "sweetheart." thing. You can admit it guys. I can almost guarantee you that Haymitch's characterization would be a little different in the trilogy if this is what she's always had in mind

coriolanus & his hatred for birds against the world. if it flew, he was hating. doves, geese, pigeons, jabberjays, mockingjays, mockingbirds, imagine how triggering it must have been for him to see that goddamn pin on katniss when he crowned her, and then BAM! every capitol citizen is copying it & wearing mockingjay shit lmfao. ik he was fighting those inner demons when cinna pulled out that last dress, he didn't even try to hide that death from katniss.
oh, & katniss saying that rue & prim remind her of little birds abt to take flight? well, we all know what happened to them...& wiress who was the canary in the mines? surprised he didn't have a stroke from all those war flashbacks.

[Plutarch] sighs when he mentions the tools that were abolished and incapacitated in the past, ones deemed fated to destroy humanity because of their ability to replicate any scenario using any person. “And in mere seconds!” He snaps his fingers to emphasize their speed. “I guess it was the right thing to do, given our natures. We almost wiped ourselves out even without them, so you can imagine. But oh, the possibilities!”
shout out to suzanne collins for, in the middle of Everything Else she was doing in sotr, dropping a paragraph that’s just “btw fuck ai”

Haymitch being the victor of the games with twice as many tributes and bringing home twice as many victors 24 years later is pure poetry

I actually don't think Collins is writing her books out of contempt for her readers.

I love how Sunrise on the Reaping highlights how Haymitch and Effie never would've worked as a couple. Yes, Effie is kind to Haymitch in a way that no one else in the Capitol is. She joins him in the arena launch room so he wouldn't be there by himself. She's with him in many moments simply so he won't be alone, just to be a kind presence.
But she also fully buys into the Capitol propaganda. She tell Haymitch, a victor who has just gone through unbelievable trauma, who watched multiple friends be killed brutally by the Capitol, that the Games are necessary. That what the Capitol is doing is needed. That putting him in that arena was for the greater good.
Despite how much they've been shipped over the years (and even despite how I like them as a ship too), I'm glad Suzanne stood her ground on this. There are certain things you shouldn't compromise on when it come to having a partner, and a difference like this is important.

Thinking about how the Capitol changed the footage to avoid showing Woodbine running and getting shot. And them changing the footage to avoid showing Louella getting thrown from the chariot and dying. The way they try so hard to convince everyone that there is no escape from their control, even in death, only for Katniss to show them up by giving herself and Peeta berries that would allow them to die together.
