honestly i wish i could meet up w online friends but i am so filled w terror that my anxiety would make me so offputting and hateable instantly n then i wouldnt have any friends left HBJJBA,,,,, like,,, i cannot express just how bad my anxiety is between my avpd and never learning how 2 mask my autism i am probably the most naturally unlikeable person in existence n then id have to live w that maybe if i had just figured out how to fix myself first and make myself perfect n palatable then i wouldnt hav fucked it up like every other interaction irl
#i have literally never made a friend irl#and i am being genuine#i am a certified loser#the only friends i ever had were from a young age just . playdated and then we stayed in contact but never really were actual friends#everyone else is just like. why doesnt IT talk.......... or ur so funny..(freak)#like i dont do anything BAD but i . dont know how to hold a lot of conversations#or i say things too bluntly (not mean but just unexpected i guess?)#and it makes people laugh but. at me#not . like in a fun way#i always stuck to the fact i could b funny at least but then i never actually made friends because none of them actually liked me they just#liked how weird n awkward i was & how fun it was to make fun of me w their actual friends#they included me in some things but it was always just 2 watch my reaction#i spent so many years in relationships like that#i always ended up in one no matter where i went#i always just told myself if i just wait eventually someone will come along who i can actually get along w#but then whenever there was someone theyd just. leave eventually#because the only place i had 2 meet people was church like. programs?#youth group n etc#and more recently i think everyone just kinda accepts im the quiet one#so they dont talk to me#n i dont know how to start conversations so i dont talk 2 them#honestly thats why i appreciated that one guy from the youth connections program#he still always talked 2 me and included me but not in a forceful way#he took no as an answer#n he was cool#he was such an open n funky guy i wish i couldve talked to him more#because even tho he did make an effort i was still so awkward n scared i didnt talk much#he was super into helping animals n stuff n everyone made fun of him for that n i felt bad because i think thats the coolest shit#but i never got a chance 2 say it because how shutdown w anxiety i get

I suppose if I want to Make Orion I have to figure out the, like, actual WoL she's helping but also. I am considering "Orion dedicated herself to becoming a mysterious mentor/assistant to the hero and then the 'real' hero just fucking dies and she's left along." Unsure how that would work w the Azem rock tho
#I am also considering- what if Elidibus is that one that saved her from her suicide attempt#bc he wanted a backup Mitron and also figured he could use her and. so on.#so she's at first working for the ascians- or at least for elidibus- in his 'control the opposition' play#but I don't think she like. knows exactly thats whats happening#she thinks its more of a. other ascians are causing trouble but elidibus is secretly helping the heroic side from the shadows#or something like that#maybe a thing of like....elidibus saved her life and gave her a Purpose and that's what she remembers#but hydaelyn did give her a vision- a brief glimpse-of meteion#and what gave her the strength to keep going was wanting to help this other hurting child#but she barely remembers that#like I said. extemely utena#anyways what I am getting at is Orion is very close to Urianger#love the idea of a kid assigned (mostly by herself) the role of Mysterious Anime Maiden actually like#making connections. making friends. letting herself be human#getting stuck as the most awkward third wheel known to man or gods#....none of this tag musing has helped me decide what to do about the Azemlet associated w her#I think if they do stick around they start out very reluctant scumbag ty-#hey what if Orion and Liamaine#the twins cannot be Mysterious Children Who Know Too Much to a woman who changed their diapers#(like once maybe)#so Orion has to slide in here#hmmmmmmmmmmm#Liamaine Leveilleur#Orion Strand#I do think if they are together Liamiane can't start as bad tho. as funny as that would be#or she does and Orion is Forced To Healer#(hmmm I'd wanna do astro for her but if she has to start...she can always switch come heavensward she def would ic)

I've got you - percy jackson
Request: yeah! "percy x fem!reader are on an unofficial quest together just before the big titan war (so set just before last olympian). idk what the quest is but basically reader gets injured during a fight w a bunch of monsters and percy goes a little crazy and does everything he can to protect her and once all the monsters are dead heâs super gentle and sweet w her??" Pairing:Â Â Percy Jackson x reader Summary:Â Â you're busy battling a handful of monsters when for a second it looks as if it might be your last fight. luckily, percy is there Warnings:Â Â fighting, mentions of blood, injuries, swearing, angst Word count:Â Â 1K A/N:Â the show creators need to add grover's song from ep3 to spotify because it's been stuck in my head since wednesday. thanks for your request, enjoy!
gods forbid you're ever on a quiet quest.
you can't wait to get this over with so you can go back to camp and actually get a decent amount of undisturbed sleep.
the other kids at camp are probably spending their afternoon relaxing, or polishing their weapons, or sitting by the lake, or literally anything that's peaceful. not you and percy.
you're busy getting rid of at least half a dozen monsters.
percy's is in the distance, fighting his way through a couple of monsters. he's a blur of movement and you occasionally hear him curse or make a sound.
you know percy can handle himself. but it doesn't stop you from looking over your shoulder every once in a while, to check on him.
the second time you try to catch a glimpse of percy, it's a mistake.
you feel something sharp sink into your side.
with one swing of your sword you decapitate the monster, but not before his fang breaks off, still stuck in your leg.
'oh fuck.' you mutter as you see blood start to gush out of the wound around the fang.
but there's no time to rest. another monster lashes out at you, raking his claws through your shoulder.
you yell out in pain, getting percy's attention.
you drive your sword through the monster just as percy starts running toward you.
'fuck.' you mutter, looking at your leg.
well, that doesn't look good. you know demigods don't live long. but you would have liked some more time with percy. preferably when you don't have to fight monsters.
'y/n!' yells percy, who has nearly reached you.
'percy...' you say as he catches you before you fall to the ground.
'shit, hold on.' says percy. he carefully lowers you to the ground in his arms. there's a panicked look in his eyes as he looks at your leg.
he quickly reaches down and tears off a piece of his shirt.
'percy!' you yell, looking at a monster that's running towards the two of you at full speed.
with one swift motion, percy slices through the monster with his sword, then he drops it and turns back to you.
he pulls you towards him and wraps the piece of his shirt around your thigh, above your wound.
'how many behind me?' he says.
you look over his shoulder, quickly counting the monsters that are making their way to you. it doesn't look good. 'seven.'
'sorry.'
'wait, for what-'
you're cut off as percy pulls the knot tight, sending a sharp pain through your leg.
'fuck! percy!' you curse.
'I said sorry. stay here do not pull that out.' says percy, pointing at the fang that's still stuck in your leg. he presses a quick kiss to your forehead before turning around and charging the monsters.
you knew percy could fight but holy shit.
it's like he moves with unnatural speed as he works his way through the monsters, making sure none of them slip past him to you.
even more so, he makes it look easy. almost god-like.
when you overheard someone from your cabin say that he's the most powerful demigod of your generation, you thought "sure he's a poseidon kid, it makes sense". you hadn't really thought much of it.
to you percy had always been, well, percy.
he always makes you laugh with bad jokes and saves you a spot at the campfire. he'll walk with you to your cabin if it's raining so you wouldn't get soaked. he prefers to sleep with you next to him, claiming it's so he won't get nightmares, but you know it's because he just wants to use you as his pillow.
but as you see him fighting off the monsters, lashing out and stabbing them like it's nothing, you realise what others see when they look at him.
suddenly percy is in front of you again, brushing monster dust off of his shoulder like it's no big deal.
'you okay?' he says, kneeling in front of you. he reaches out to gently cup your face.
you're silent as you look at him.
'y/n?' he says, looking you in your eyes, brows furrowed.
'did I mention I'm like, really really in love with you?' you say.
percy smiles briefly. 'yeah you've mentioned it.' he says. 'how are you feeling?'
'lucky to have you on my side.'
'I meant your leg, y/n.' he says, moving so he can inspect your leg.
'still hurts.'
'that shoulder also looks bad.' says percy. 'listen, I'll pull the fang out and give you nectar but it will still hurt, okay? then we'll look at your shoulder.'
'alright, make it quick.'
percy nods, then hands you some nectar.
'want me to count down?' he asks.
you nod, reaching out to take one of his hands in yours.
percy wraps his free hand around the fang.
you take a deep breath and nod at percy.
percy looks you in the eye and gives you an encouraging smile. 'sorry in advance. 3... 2... 1!'
with one swift motion he pulls the fang out. blood gushes out of the wound and the pain is unbearable. you close your eyes and feel how percy gently pushes the nectar to you and you take a sip.
it tastes like the drink sally made for you when you visited percy's home for the first time.
you keep your eyes closed as you wait for the pain to go away. you can feel percy rubbing circles on the back of your hand with his thumb, comforting you.
'it's already helping.' says percy softly.
you reach out and wrap your arms around percy.
'it's okay. I've got you.' says percy, holding you close. 'we can sit here for a while, but then we have to keep moving, okay?'
'okay.' you say, feeling percy press a kiss to your forehead.
you're really glad percy's here with you. if it weren't for him, you're not sure you would have made it back to camp in one piece, or at all.

my angel baby (part 4)
alastor w/ angel daughter reader
(notes: alastor joins charlie and vaggie in heaven to convince them about the hazbin hotel. angel reader physically resembles a fawn. )
(requested tags: @insomniacfigure @pooplyface1423 @mo-0-o @thekanrojimitsuri2 @maliciousmace @nevermorekisses @wildfire153)
(thanks to my amazing editor for helping me with this chapter!! @kruncher mwa mwa! /p)
It's been half a month, and you still aren't sure if you really wanna do this.
Sure you have done your research on spells, blessings, everything to protect yourself and maybe even others while venturing into Hell, possibly even in battle if you felt brave enough.
But nonetheless, it was conflicting. Not only were you going to see your father again but you're going to be literally in hell-- the terrible place was always a tempting topic to bring up in a hushed conversation, though few actually dared to do it. It's the worst place to go to after death, everyone on earth hated speaking of it and mentioning it was somewhat like a bad omen, at least from how you've seen others react to it at certain times.
Why bother diving head first into a realm where none of itâs events or residents were any of your business? The souls are in hell for certain specific reasons, so why bother saving a world that was meant to be the end of the line.
Oh but-- Charlie.
Charlie Morningstar's case and evidence sure intrigued you, but was it really worth the risk? Is it worth the sacrifice, the hiding, the possible dying to try to save a bunch of sinners? All of them, more than likely... are very much similar to, if not the same as, your father.
"Maybe..n-.." you breathed out loud, your hand moving away from under your chin as you were stuck in thought sitting at your desk. You were reluctant, of course you'd be.
You looked down at your bag on the floor beside your desk, filled with supplies and necessities for venturing into hell-- you planned it out but-- was it really.. Do these sinners truly deserve to be saved? Helped?
Why, of course they do.
At the very least.. some of them.Â
Those who genuinely want redemption and those who committed sins in which they had no choice before they died or to help others. Those are the ones who should be saved.
And from what you learned in the court trial exactly half a month ago, you could only imagine how many sinners Adam and his fleet of Exorcists slayed that were genuinely hoping for a better chance at this 'second' life.
Besides-- why not save lives? Even if they weren't worth saving, even if you didn't know them personally or at all. Isn't that why you got into heaven anyway? Because you sacrificed yourself for someone you didn't know in the slightest?
You died for that reason, what's so wrong in doing it a second time?
Besides, souls like that one sinner Charlie showed the court, Angel Dust, could be on the path to light and eternal paradise... you could almost feel it in your bones and you bet Emily did too.
Wait, that's right--
Emily!
You could have almost jumped from your seat, Emily was the key to your path to Hell! But how to get to her-- Sera was always around..
Oh-- No, no, this is too good.
Ever since the court day Emily has been getting a bit more distant from Sera, if you could find Emily alone once without any inclination you were seeking her out then you could do it! Convincing shouldn't be too hard, she feels the same way as you do in a certain way.
You've been so caught up in your plan to escape disguised as an exorcist that you couldn't see the answer right in front of you! All those weeks wasted-- the initial plan was bound to fail anyway no matter the amount of preparation since, according to your research, the exorcist angels were scattered everywhere in their HQ like a beehive swarm; like busy bees buzzing with bloodlust. They seemed to all recognize each other and have specific physical attributes that you lacked immensely, even if you were to try and steal a uniform you really couldn't because-- you didn't know where they kept them inside.
You took in a deep breath in and out, 'I'm definitely not coming back unscathed..' you thought 'but.. everyone deserves a second chance, even sinners. And if they really don't deserve it then might as well save them so that they may continue living out their eternal sentences with no easy way out.'
You then looked towards a corner of your desk, grabbing a small and recent photo you took with someone very dear to you. You smiled softly at it before letting out a gentle huff of confidence and then carefully stuffing that photo in your bag for your trip to hell.
You then grabbed your bag, put it over your shoulder, and carefully walked out of your home.
It was currently early night in heaven, the sky as always was filled with stars that glow immensely so that heaven is never in utter darkness. At this time of the evening everyone was home and getting ready for bed, shops closing, people walking home. Thankfully you've hung around Emily long enough to know that when she's bothered by something, she doesn't go to sleep easily till she can fix it, and from what you knew the extermination in hell was still going to happen.Â
Your wings started to gently flap and as quietly as they could they flew you up to the home quarters of Emily and Sera, them owning a taller building than the ordinary 'winner' would have considering their higher statuses.
It wasn't that hard to fly by since there was no need for security or guards, heaven never exactly needed to be protected from the inside.
You made your way around a high up balcony, one that you knew led to Emily's quarters. You noticed the balcony doors closed but light flickered from within; she's in there.
Your feet carefully plopped themselves on the balcony, nervously lifting your hand to knock on it-- still hesitant.
'Do I really want to do this?'Â
It was too late to even ask that now, for your hand already knocked on the glass surface of the balcony door, breath hitched-- you awaited an answer.
...
The sound of pitter pattering steps could be heard from the inside as they neared where you were standing, a figure approached you from behind the glass.
Emily!
You smiled and waved at her awkwardly as she looked at you with a mix of shock, joy, and exhaustion. She opened the door to you with anticipation.
"______! How are you!... wait-- what are you doing here? It's late, you should be at home.."
"Look Emily," you said breathlessly due to your anxiety. "There's no easy way to say this but I need a huge favor from you.. bigger than anything I could ever ask for and will ever ask for. Not only that but- I'm sure you'll believe in my cause.."
She hummed in thought, eyes narrowed at you in an attempt to see if she should listen to her head or heart. "I'm listening..."
You then nodded towards the inside of her room, silently asking if you could go inside so no prying ears could hear you, even if it's unlikely. She read the words in your expression as she nodded and welcomed you in, closing the door behind her carefully.
You started whispering, "I need you to teleport me into hell."
Emily's breathing scuffled a bit, absolutely shocked from your request. "Hell??.. but why?.. ______ you nor I have ever been to hell!.. you could get really hurt or worse die..!" she whisper-yelled in concern to one of her best friends.
"Well-- we aren't sure if they can truly kill angels but I've practiced a few spells to try to defend myself. You know I'm a lot faster with my wings and if I find Charlie I'm sure she'll keep me from getting hurt!.."
"Charlie?.." she asked, now fully remembering what happened on that fateful court day "Wait, you want to go to hell to see Charlie?"
You nodded, "I have to, it's the only way I can survive there. Besides, I need to help her.. you know that what Adam and Sera are letting happen is unjust and inhumane.. you and I both know and agree about this and you can help me by sending me down there."
"but.. _____ I--"
"Emily, the extermination is going to happen in less than a month now.. there's no time left to leave this in the air."
"______.. are you even sure you'll survive a second down there? how do you even know you need to be there, if you really want to help you can try and stay up here where it's safe--"
You let out a quick sigh of fear, afraid that she's getting cold feet "C'mon.. even with your influence Adam won't stop and neither has Sera ordered him to pause for even a moment.. Besides, if they need to have sinners show their improvement and actually redeem themselves.. they need someone who actually has been in heaven and knows how to get there.Â
They need a role-model, an example, and I'm willing to help and sacrifice myself a second time to at least give other people a second chance at 'living'.
This time, you shut Emily up, she's speechless-- you truly took her breath away with how determined you were. You were right to some extent, help from a 'winner' for sinners, become just like them as a teacher and be an example could genuinely make much improvement and possibly open the case once more.Â
She softly smiled at you, a small amount of pride swelling in her chest, pride that she has for you and hope that she has in your mission.
"Well.. I'll take you there but not without one thing--" she stepped closer to you and folded three fingers of her right hand, then crossed you with them in an all too familiar pattern. Right shoulder, left shoulder, forehead, chest. The sign of the Cross. A sudden glow shined from you for a split second as if a star bursted around you,
"A protection spell. To protect you from the strongest blow that encounters itself towards you, it only works once but it's the strongest spell I know that can be an extra safety net for you down there.. meanwhile I'll try my best to convince Sera to think differently about the genocides.."
"Oh.. thank you Ems!.." you hugged her and she hugged back tightly, both of you guys brimming in a flurry of hope, determination, and anxiety. "I won't let you down.. I promise when I come back, and I will, Adam won't need to kill anymore people with his exorcists anymore.."
"Just-- be careful, _____. You're one of a kind, no one helps and brightens things up like you do.." she backed away from the hug only to hold your hands and smile at you, conflicted but convinced by you.
"Promise. I'll be back before you know it."
"Pinky.. promise?" she took out her pinky finger for you to hold onto, to reassure her that she's making the right decision. Helping you.. she doesn't want to lose you by sending you down your death sentence.
"Hehe.. pinky promise." you took out your own pinky finger to wrap it around hers, another spark lighting up around your wrapped fingers as if sealing the deal.
"Good.. once again are you sure you're prepared??.." she couldn't help but ask-- she didn't want to lose her best friend..
"I'm ready to face what I have to face, ready as I'll ever be." you let out a shaky sigh, betraying you slightly.
Emily let out a shaky sigh of her own before stepping back and slowly summoning a portal, it starting from a little glow in the air to slowly trying to mass itself into your height and size so you may go through with ease. It was difficult since it was mostly Sera or Adam opening them with constant ease and she never really had to until now, unfortunately though.. it was starting to make noise.
You hold your bag as tightly as you could, double checking if all the zippers are closed before preparing yourself for the even growing yellow portal.
"I don't know exactly where the Hazbin Hotel is so-- be... be careful _____.."
You looked at her and nodded with confidence, a look of strength emitting from your face.Â
There was shuffling from the hallway outside Emily's room, "Emily? What are you doing at this time of the night?" Sera could be heard from afar, her voice loudly echoing across and even through the closed doors.Â
Emily sped through her magic as she used as much of her mental strength as she could to open up the portal, it shouldn't be that hard but-- she never had to do this, she never thought she would do this. She was only in charge of keeping you happy-- but if this were to make you happy, then she's obliged to do so.
The portal was finally big enough for you to enter through, both of you hearing loud oncoming steps coming from outside the halls and in a quick motion you waved at Emily with a smile, her doing the same thing before finally-- you jumped into hell.
Right as you disappeared into the yellow and gold void, she let herself go from holding it open and right as Sera was opening the door, without even knocking mind you, the portal disappeared from thin air and all that was left was Emily standing in the middle.
"What are you even doing?.." asked Sera looking puzzled.
Emily chuckled nervously, shrugging her shoulders "Practicing for next show's fireworks..? heh.."
â----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You on the other hand-- were being slammed against a hard metal surface that smelled like rotten flesh and food, dried blood, and other stinky items. Hitting your head against it causes you to groan in pain and slowly hold your head, the smell beside you slowly making you feel a bit sick.
Your halo, clattering to the ground, its glow still present on it.. confirming your status to still be an angel.Â
"Fuck.." you mumbled, rubbing the back of your head while picking yourself up from the ground. Looking at your surroundings you were in a sort of alley, the metal surface being a large dumpster. Your wings flapped a bit to stretch them out from the hit you took.Â
You look at your halo and feel a huge sigh of relief get out of your mouth, despite knowing that only becoming a fallen could only happen if the court officially banishes you from heaven from all you knew it still felt good to know you're still the same you. Besides, you didn't know if a winner has ever become sinner before so.. that at least helped your mind keep itself from flipping over.
God..but your surroundings?
It reeked.
You peeked a bit in the dumpster out of curiosity but the intensity of the smell made you wanna puke so your nose begged you to move away. Now looking at the exit out of the alley you first picked up your halo to then place it above your head, floating above you right after letting it go. Picking up your bag once again to hold it tightly near you so no one would steal it.. being as cautious as you could.
Slowly peeking out of the alley you noticed a humble little town with colors of red, shades of pink, and filled with a few sharp toothed people. Everyone walked around casually and happily, like how normal humans would. Despite how huge the place is there seems to be a lack of crowds.. as if half of the town is missing.
Huh, this place reminded you of a sunny day in New Orleans when you were alive. Is this.. really hell? You haven't come across any people jumping out to kill you or anyone else randomly but a few explosions from far away still made you jerk from fear.
You carefully stepped out of the alley, feeling especially out of place the moment you started walking out. People with various shades of gray skin, everyone with blacked out eyes, sharp teeth, and all still dressed in clothes from around the time you died, maybe a bit of more older fashions but still.. reminded you of back home on earth just slightly.
Each step you took was a new question that you gave yourself.. where were you? is this a level or part of hell? does hell look this way all the time? is the Hazbin Hotel of walking distance? is Emily okay? why does the air smell weird? is your dad Alastor around? is it obvious im not from here-- oh of course it is you have a fucking halo damn it.
'Everyone looks almost normal," you thought 'Maybe I can try to find someone to help m--'
"Oh!.." you bumped into someone, someone small. You looked down to see a fairly normal looking child with eyes entirely blacked out, no pupils to be seen. Geez.. you couldn't lie but they creeped you out a bit.
"Hello there.. sorry I didn't see you.." you spoke to the kid despite how weary you were, giving it an apologetic smile while waving a little towards them in a very awkward manner.
They spoke nothing but instead flashed you a large sharp toothed smile that made your blood curl a bit, what made it worse was what it did next.
"It's okay missy! I like your wings!" Normally you'd smile more and make small talk but-- then the kid took out a cut off hand from behind their back and started chomping it on it as if it was corn on the cob. With your skin crawling and your face as white as a sheet from the shock, the kid then proceeded to run off nibbling on the bleeding hand.
You stood there frozen, your stomach begging to release anything you ate before you came upon here. You slowly turned your head to the right, your peripheral vision noticing a large wooden sign.
'Welcome to Cannibal Town!'
'Well that.. really explains it.' you took a few deep breaths as you tried to control yourself and your upcoming panic as to not alert other cannibals of your fear.. but you could've sworn they could probably smell it off of you.
Would they eat you? Are they going to eat you?.. but some have been looking at you walking by-- are they getting ready to pounce on you, bite off your flesh and--
You stopped in your tracks, noticing how further you are in the town from all your overthinking. You looked up to see that you are at the front steps of a small stage?.. gazebo..? you couldn't remember how hard your heart was pounding.
All of a sudden you felt an incredibly sharp pain on your wing, one that made you shriek aloud and everyone suddenly stopped and stared at you. You turned to see an old lady with a cane looking very similar to other residents around you-- BITE your wing?? what the actual living fuck??
The old woman seemed to grin and licking the golden blood from the bite she got from your wings, fortunately for you she only bit and didn't actually get a chunk of your wing off instead.. either way it fucking stung the way a large wasp sting would.
"Angel wings.. not bad at all-- OUCH!!" The old lady then let out a shriek herself, being hit by the end of a sun umbrella this time and whoever was holding it was shooing her away from you.
"Shoo! Shoo! Susan!! Run off now! We don't bite new otherworldly guests like that!" The voice shouted before the old woman scurried off just as fast as she came.Â
You whimpered a bit as your bitten and slightly bleeding wing leaned towards your hands, your palms and fingers then gently caressing them as an attempt to soothe the pain with tears brimming and silently sliding down your eyes.
"Oh I'm so sorry about that sweetheart, that old hag has no manners." The same voice, a woman's voice, called out to you. Her appearance also looks similar to everyone else, the only difference is her large hat decorated with elaborate feathers and adorned with a small skull.Â
"Let me see that dear.." she leaned in with her hand reaching towards your wing but of course you flinched away from her, absolutely not trusting her in the slightest form your first terrible experience and the many words of others before you.
You looked at her with fear you've never felt before, fear that you haven't felt since your death. You quickly backed away, your injured wing cowering towards your hands and chest.
'Holy.. fuck..'
"The names Rosie, sweetheart, what's a pretty little thing like you walking around here with no sense of danger?"
â------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alastor held you in his arms as your nine year old self was fiddling with a toy in your hands after a long day of being taken care of by one of Alastor's lady friends. The man was coming out of work from hosting his famous radio show as he usually always did and now was entering his home after a tiring day from work and honestly he wasn't up for taking care of you right now. If anything he should've probably let you stay with the woman forever and he wouldn't have to be dealing with baby troubles..
Yet everyday you somehow always gave him a reason to keep you despite his almost heartless nature.
He walked in his home and closed the door behind him, locking it as well. Walking over to the sofa he turned on a nearby lamp before setting you down on the cushions and let you be in your own world while he then went to go eat something himself. You didn't have to since the woman that babysat fed you quite well and you liked what she gave so there was no need for you to be overfed.
Alastor went to prepare a meal for himself, not saying much to you in the process since all he wanted was to eat and sleep so better to just fill one of the boxes on that checklist as soon as possible. So while you were still distracted he quickly made himself a meal and started eating so he wouldn't starve before bed.
You were playing with your toy the nice lady gave you, mumbling small nonsense here and there while playing around. Until you decided to speak up loudly from afar,
"Papa, can I ask something?" you talked as you kept yourself entertained with your toy.
Alastor sighed a bit "Yes dear, what is it?" exhaustion evident on his voice that contracted to his permanent smile, be it small or big.
"Is it true that when you found me, my mama and papa didn't want me because I was an ugly and loud cry-baby?"
Alastor almost spit out his food, inevitably starting choking on it. Saving himself from dying of choking by drinking his drink he set with his food and calmed down. "W.. Why do you think that sweetheart? Who told you such an untrue lie!.."Â
In truth, he didn't actually know why you were abandoned in that alley. All he found when he picked you up was you wrapped around in baby blankets in a basket and a note with a date on it, most likely your date of birth, but other than that he never knew why you ended up there and why. He simply just took you in and called you his own.
"The boys in the playground I played with said their mamas and papas knew you, and knew you found me. They then started saying I dress too girly and that my real mama and papa left me because I was ugly and a loud cry baby and that's why I don't have a mama and papa." Your little voice seemed to shake a bit but obviously tried your best to hide it away even at this young of an age.
But your father could see and hear right through you.Â
Alastor sighed before taking one last spoonful of his food before leaving his meal there to walk towards you, settling himself on the same sofa you both always make the best of memories, this being one of them.
"Well darling, those boys obviously have parents who don't educate them! And are as dull as a doorknob if they say all that foolish nonsense.. you do have a mama and papa!"
You looked at him incredibly confused, since when did you have a mother?
He noticed this and laughed a bit at your expression "Silly, I'm your mama and papa! I do both jobs! I make you food, I have clothes for you, I give you a home, I get you ready for school, I talk to you all the time because you're mine!" He spoke cheerily, as if stating a very well known fact "Their eyes also must not be working also since I think I got the prettiest daughter in all of New Orleans if I do say so myself!" he pinched your cheek playfully, making you giggle.Â
He continued on "Yes, you did indeed cry a lot as a small tiny baby but do you think I would've kept you if you were an enormous crybaby? Of course not! Which is why I still have you here with me." Alastor-- "And you dress too girly??.. why, but of course you'll dress the way you do.. you're my little girl! how will my little dove be able to shine in her natural beauty if she doesn't wear the most marvelous pieces of wardrobe I can get her!" He then continued to pinch both your cheeks at the same time, some of your cute baby fat still present on your face despite being a year behind in heading towards the double digits.Â
You giggled and laughed loudly, smiling.. just the way you should always be.
Yes he was too tired for this, he was downright exhausted, but hey-- if he can keep an unfaltering smile despite feeling this then of course he can keep up with you even if he's not in the mood. You're the only person who he doesn't like to see in pain, in tears--Â
It's his job to do this, for what is he if he leaves you wilting by yourself with no 'light' of your own to guide you.
Certainly, he wouldn't even deserve to be called your father.
"Oh and dear?"
"Yes papa!"
"What are the boys' names? And their parents? I must have a little chat with them soon!..."
Oh, Alastor.

please more step brother smut with felix. it was amazing !:)
thatâs so kind of you to say, thank you <3
here you go đ
felix catton! stepbrother x reader
warnings: smut, face-fucking, slight size kink, semi public
summary : felix is stressed out during exam season and needs relief
felix and you were like royalty at oxford. itâs not like felixâs family lineage isnât royal anyways. they were always surrounded by a small crowd. some might even call them admirers. it wasnât hard to love them, always kind and friendly, charming everyone with their beautiful looks.
when someone was looking for felix, you werenât far either. this was felixâs way to protect and show his love for you. you two werenât siblings by blood, but that didnât stop felix from taking care of his baby sister.
sometimes gossip was heard about your close proximity to felix. you would admit that your relationship is definitely closer than most normal stepsiblings might be but your love fell so deep for each other you wouldnât have it any other way.
lately though, felix grew a little more distant. you knew that the exams were getting to him, he was always so determined. you would only see him when at night he would sneak you into his dorm, pulling a blanket over you while holding you close and softly stroking your hair while you would cling onto him placing your head on his chest. you missed him, more than you would admit. his heart broke knowing he had less time for you, he yearned for your touch, your giggle and your adorable smile when you sat in his lap during break. but he couldnât have any distractions from studying.
when you woke up the bed was empty. this was your breaking point. felix would normally wake you up to give you a little kiss goodbye or at least leave a note. there was none of this today. you bursted out in tears and started sobbing uncontrollably. when you calmed down a bit, you got ready to face felix to pour out your heart. putting on makeup was no use to your red and puffy eyes from crying.
you made your way to the library, which was almost empty since it was still very early in the morning. you found felix sitting in the back, surrounded by books writing down notes.
he looked up âgood morning baby, did you have a good-â he stopped, his initial reaction was that he was happy to see you but his eyebrows furrowed when he saw your distressed expression. he knew he had to make time for you now, so he wordlessly scooted his chair back and opened his arms for you to sit on his lap. you took a seat there and clung to him tightly, which he returned.
âlix, you were gone this morning, and I was all alone, I donât even see you that often anymore, I- I just miss you so muchâ you sniff slightly as big tears fall from your eyes.
âshhhh, I know sweetheart, I hate it too, but you know how it is, Iâm just very stressed right nowâ he pulls you close rubbing you back softly cooing quietly for you to calm down a bit, takes your face in his hands as he wipes away your tears with his thumb. he hates seeing his girl like this, it upset him deeply.
felix took your chin between his fingers to tilt you head upwards to slowly capture your lips. this wasnât new to you two, he kissed you often, also in public, he knew it made you feel safe.
âlix? would it be okay for me to try something to relieve your stress a bit?â your big eyes looked up at him with a small smile as you relaxed a bit.
âsure princess, Iâd love that but what do you want t-â his words got stuck in his throat when you slowly dropped to your knees, already trying to fumble at his belt, opening it.
felix was almost shocked at your plan but obviously wasnât appalled by your idea. none of you cared that you were in public, people wouldnât come by until later in the day. your nimble fingers pulled the zipper of his pants down slowly, your lips parting and mouth salivating in anticipation.
he caressed your cheek with his thumb looking down at you with soft but hungry eyes, signaling that you could do whatever you felt comfortable with. as you continue undressing his pants his fingers were back at your face, his thumb brushing over your wet bottom lip and pushed his digit past your lips and into your mouth, and you sucked greedily.
you slowly pulled his already hardening cock from his underwear, giving his tip soft kitten licks to which he threw back his head in pleasure, brushing your hair, slightly buckling his hips towards your mouth
âyou can use my mouth lix, I can handle it, I promiseâ lapping at his slit and batting your eyelashes up at him innocently.
âyouâre gonna be the death of me, dollâ he groans at your invitation and didn't waste a second to shove his cock into your mouth, pushing your head down his impressive length.
gurgling and gagging you looked up at him for reassurance that your were doing fine, he slowly started moving his hips, fucking your mouth.
âsuch a good doll, doing so good fâmeâ he praised in a deep voice. your doe eyes just looked at him, tears escaping them as he kept diving himself into you thrusting in and out of your mouth quickly and desperately as you moaned around him.
he shifted his hips forward so you could take him further down your throat âsuch a tiny mouth, taking all of me hm?â he grinned proudly his other hand cupping your jaw and holding your mouth open for him as you choked around him, saliva escaping your mouth.
âyou can take it, hm? my good little angelâ he grunts looking down at your face tears just streaming down your face now. you hummed happily, the vibrations sending a shock through him that made him twitch and ram his hips forward into your mouth harshly.
âgonna come in your mouth okay doll? youâre gonna be a good girl and swallow it all right?â taking out his dick for you to answer and traced your glossy lips with his tip, your tongue darted out to flick over it and relish in his salty taste as you looked up giving him affirmative nods.
his thrusts became more frantic, feeling close, he lets out a long, gutteral moan, holding your head there as he thrust his hips up feeling your nose press against his pelvis, cumming down your throat.
âI know itâs a lot, be strong,â he groaned as he continued to spout cum, it was so much you thought you might bloat but swallowed all as he pulled off, you were coughing at bit.
you looked wrecked but smiled up at him proudly as he leaned down to kiss your lips softly taking your face in his big hands to admire you.
âwhat would I do without my favorite girl?â

Get Gone (pt.2 to âTeddy Bearâ)
Alexia Putellas x Reader
Summary: Alexia had crossed another line, and you couldnât let it be like this anymore.
Angst, no comfort ig
TW: none
Word count: 1,185
Your eyes flickered around the restaurant you were patiently waiting in for the past 30 minutes.
The situation is easy to guess, you were waiting for Alexia, since she herself proposed a date today to you a week ago. Yet she wasnât showing up. Sweat painted your hands, you wanted to finally catch a glimpse of her blonde hair somewhere in the crowd of waiters and other clients, you tried texting her, perhaps she got stuck in traffic or something else happened to her?
You hoped it was only something of innocent natureâŚAlexia wouldnât stand you up after all, right?
More time passed and passed, but to no avail Alexia hadnât appeared in the restaurant. Tears were begging to be let out of your eyes, it was hard keeping yourself in check and not crying a river right there in public but you at least managed to get back to your car before breaking down in tears.
You went back home, your sadness slowly morphed into anger towards Alexis, lately youâve been wondering if this relationship even had any chance of salvation. She didnât return till late in the evening. You were sitting in the living room, your arms crossed as you saw her drop her bag down on the floor. Not even a âsorryâ, âheyâ or âhow are you was dropped, let alone one single look at you. You wanted to scream at her, make a mess of the apartment, claw at her skin pull your hair anything..but sheâd just turn a blind eye to it anyway, itâs as if you were invisible, when you were around her she treated you like mist, she just didnât care.
âWhy?â You then spoke up, your cheeks got a reddish tint to them, as well as your eyes which were letting tears fall. You cried silently, just looking at her as she turned around to face you as if she had no clue what you meant by âwhyâ
âWhat are you talking about?â Alexiaâs brow furrowed, her gaze said it all, she was looking at you as if you were some mad woman that should be institutionalised for her over-sensitivity. âWhy donât you love me anymore?â You choked out the question you had wanted to ask her for the past few months.
âY/n-â Alexia begun with a tired voice, âNoâ you cut in âDonât âY/nâ me, you know itâs the truthâ And she probably did, Alexia stood in place, her eyes diverted from yours.
âI wanted this to work, I really did, and we had our happy years didnât we? But you changed Alexia, you donât give a shit about me anymore.â Your voice broke here and there, a thousand words and sentences were running through your brain, so fast it made you feel like it was frying.
âI thought about this so many times, thought about all the things I wanted to say to youâŚbut now I canât, thereâs so many of them I canât keep up, you had done me so bad, so many times..so many times I forgave you quietly, but I canât do it anymoreâ
âWhat the hell do you mean?â She barked at you, âSo youâre gonna break up with me? Because of some dumb things I did? God youâre impossible-â The blonde shook her head âStop it! For fuckâs sake stop it! Thatâs why Iâve been holding back, cause you always do this, Iâm always the bad guy whilst youâre a martyr.â Your hands clutched your head âAnd dumb things? You cal treating me as if I didnât exist dumb things? You stood me up, and the best part is this wasnât the first timeâ It was clear Alexia was trying to come up with some cheeky answer, one thatâd shut you up, but to no avail.
âThis is the endâ you said now more quietly, âIâm leaving, donât contact me againâ with that you made your way to your now past shared bedroom. Another minute spent in this goddamn place was going to drive you mad, so swiftly you grabbed your clothes and other belongings, not caring to fold them, just to get them into your bags. Alexia soon stormed in after you. âThis is fucking crazy!â She yelled, âYou canât do this to me!â Her arms were swaying around, she was mad, furious even.
âYou did much worse to meâ you muttered âYou donât deserve to be mad at me Alexiaâ
As you grabbed your now packed bags you looked at her for the last time together, âGoodbyeâ and that was it, the end.
A few weeks had passed now, you bought yourself a flat since you sold your old one before moving in with Alexia. You recall breathing the fresh air, the wind blowing through your hair when you left Alexia, the world around you felt different, alone and freeing. Later a part of you was screaming at you that you chose the wrong option, but you couldnât get back with Alexia, not after everything.
Years of a good relationship, and then years of a ruin that was your âloveâ. There was no denying that a small percentage of you, still loved her, but you couldnât be with her if all you were going to get was a one-sided romance.
Alexia messaged you, one message that read âmeet me at the pier, you know which one. 7pm, Iâll be there.â
You sighed internally, you were gonna give her one last chance to speak to you, whatever it is she wanted, all you knew was that there was no getting back ever again.
It was dark already, the sky turning into a deep navy blue transcending into black. As you walked down the wooden pier, some happy moments from your time together came flooding back. You knew this had to be the pier she wanted to see you at, and as you walked further down you could make out a womanâs figure in the distance, as you got closer you quickly recognised it was indeed Alexia.
She was leaning against the pierâs fence, looking into the deep blue sea, you stood next to her, glancing into the water as well
âWhat is it that you wanted to talk about?â You then asked, not looking back at her, and you could feel that she wasnât observing you either. âCanât we make this right?â She said after a minute âAlexiaâŚâ you sighed, âI told youâ
âI can change, Y/nâ she was still pleading for you to change your mind. âIâm sorry, but I just canât believe you, weâre done, and thatâs it. If we get back together either you or me are still gonna get hurtâ You knew well that it was definitely you who was going to get hurtâŚbut you werenât here to talk about it, all you had wanted was to deliver the message clearly.
âY/n..â she mumbled, âIâm sorry Alexiaâ you simply stated, âHave a good night.â You pushed yourself off the fence, walking off, towards the parking lot to your car. As you walked, you hadnât looked back at Alexia.
You were better off not being together.

A Not-So-Disastrous Romance (Book 1) Chapter Five
Kusuo Saiki x Reader
Chapter Five: Ramen Shops
Summary: Saiki goes to a ramen shop (he is dragged there by a bunch of bothers)
âWe still arenât there yet?â asked Kaidou.
He, Nendou, (Y/N), and Saiki were heading to a ramen shop that Nendou had heard about. Saiki had gotten roped in as usual. He wanted to get coffee jelly with (Y/N), but he instead was stuck with Nendou and Kaidou, too. He thought it couldnât get worse than being with two of his bothers and missing out on coffee jelly, but he was proved wrong. (The world hated him and wanted to prove everything could always be worse).
âOh, Saiki? Whatâre you doing here?â
There stood Teruhashi, glowing and sparkling as usual.
           âOh!â squeaked Kaidou.
           âT-Teruhashi!â stammered Nendou.
The boys blushed profusely as they looked at the perfect pretty girl.
           (Y/N) gave a friendly wave.
âWhatâre you guys doing out together?â asked Teruhashi.
âWell, Nendou said he knows a good ramen shop, so heâs taking us there,â said Kaidou, rushing through the sentences nervously.
âThatâs right! Weâre headed there to pig ouâI mean, eat!â said Nendou.
âItâs our first time checking it out,â added (Y/N).
âOh, ramen, huh?â remarked Teruhashi. She glanced over at Saiki. âIf you donât mind, can I come with you? Am I being a bit pushy?â She winked cutely.
           âW-Well, I donât mind!â squeaked Kaidou.
âItâd be great if you came!â said Nendou.
âThe more the merrier!â chirped (Y/N).
           Seriously? You, too? Saiki sighed.
This is the perfect chance to get Saiki to say âOh, wowâ and stop paying so much attention to (L/N)! Sure, theyâre not ugly, but Iâm the person he should be paying attention to! Iâm the perfect pretty girl! thought Teruhashi as they walked through the streets, gaining attention from passersby.
âIs the shop this way?â she asked angelically, completely at odds with her aggressively competitive thoughts.
âAh, yes,â said Nendou rather formally.
(Y/N) was laughing at their friendsâ sudden transformations (excepting Saiki, of course).
At least theyâre enjoying themself. Saiki supposed one person enjoying themself was better than none, and although heâd rather be the one enjoying himself, he preferred when (Y/N) was happy. It was what they always should be.
âWhy, I didnât expect you to eat ramen, Teruhashi,â said Nendou, a strangely gentlemanlike face on his face.
Saiki was glad Nendouâs strange face could distract him from his own new thoughts.
Teruhashi giggled. âSay, Kaidou.â She turned to the suddenly shy boy.
           âY-Yes?!â he squeaked nervously.
âWhy do you always have bandages on your hands?â asked Teruhashi.
âOh, I do it so my powers wonât go out of control!â stammered Kaidou.
âPowersâŚ?â questioned Teruhashi. âSorry, I canât quite understand what youâre saying.â
âWell, it just got like this! I donât even know why!â Kaidou began unwinding his bandages while blushing heavily. âIâll take them off!â
(Y/N) caught the gauze, rolled it up, and put it in their pocket. âHeâs probably gonna regret that once sheâs gone,â they whispered to Saiki.
So they notice that people act odd around Teruhashi. That means they probably are being genuinely nice to Teruhashi, not just being affected like everyone else. (Y/N)âs just a nice person. Saiki wasnât surprised by that thought. (Y/N) was a genuinely good person. It was a reason he liked to be around them. Tolerated them. Put up with them. It all meant the same thing. (it did not).
Theyâre so excited! But thatâs just natural since they can have a meal with me, the prettiest girl in the world! thought Teruhashi. So why are they acting so calm?! Kunio Kunio! Why arenât you saying âOh, wowâ? That should always be your reaction when you see me! And (L/N) (Wrong Name)! You donât act differently at all! And Saiki always pays attention to you, even when Iâm the perfect pretty girl! What could you possibly have that you donât?!
Yare yare. (Y/N) doesnât bring attention to me or try to make me act differently. Saiki could just be himself.
What makes so that a cool, mysterious guy like him that has a gaze who could look right through you⌠Teruhashi became lost in her fantasy.
           Saiki made a face.
(Y/N) laughed. âThatâs the most youâve ever changed your expression!â
Saiki schooled his expression. They were unfortunately quite observant, still.
Oh, no! I take it all back! Even in her own mind, Teruhashi couldnât allow herself to obsess over a boy. It all had to be about making him obsess over her. At any rate, Iâll use my charm to make him look at me instead of them and say âOh, wowâ today for sure!
Iâm attracting her attention. Saiki hadnât gotten away from her at all.
âAh, we have arrived,â said Nendou. He pointed at a small restaurant. âThis is the ramen shop.â
âWow, Iâm hungry,â chirped Teruhashi. âOh, wow.â She turned blank uncomfortably.
âWhoaâŚâ muttered (Y/N), making a face as they looked at the rundown shop.
âI heard their ramen is crazy good,â said Nendou. âA relative of one of my friendsâ dog walkers said so. Itâll be fine.â
âSo itâs a rumorâŚâ said (Y/N). Thatâs never good.
âHey, donât be stupid!â cried Kaidou. âThereâs no way Teruhashi woulg go in a place like that! You donât want to eat in a nasty restaurant like this, right, Teruhashi?!â
âW-Well, Iâm okay with it,â said Teruhashi blankly and begrudgingly.
âA-Are you sure youâre okay with it?!â asked Kaidou.
âYeah, Iâm fine with it,â lied Teruhashi.
(Y/N) leaned over to Saiki and whispered, âDo you want to pretend weâre not hungry and go to CafĂŠ Mami after this?â
âYes, but letâs go along with this for now,â said Saiki, but he was happy to acquiesce to (Y/N)âs idea. Sweet treats with someone heâŚfine, someone he enjoyed being around, sounded nice. Hopefully, this will dampen Teruhashiâs interest in me if she gets disgusted by where she thinks I hang out.
(Y/N) grinned (slightly devilishly). âYouâre enjoying this.â
Saiki just looked at them. Yare yare. Too observant.
âWell, a little bad luck builds character in people,â chirped (Y/N). âBesidesâŚI trust you, Saiki. Youâre not exactly going to revel in somebody being miserable. Anyways.â They waved their hand. âTeruhashi will probably head home afterwards and get offered some fancy food to make up for this. The others will be fine.â They turned away.
           Saiki blinked. Huh.
The group walked into the shop. It was even grosser inside and completely empty.
âWhat is this place?! This is beyond terrible!â said Kaidou. He looked at Teruhashi. âHey, seriously, you donât have to push yourself.â
âIâll be fine,â lied Teruhashi expertly, âWhatâs important is the taste.â She smiled angelically.
They all sat down at a table.
âManager!â called Nendou. âFive ramens, please!â
âOh, no, thank you,â said (Y/N).
âOh, youâre not going to eat here?â asked Teruhashi.
âI had a snack earlier today!â lied (Y/N), smiling brightly. âPlus, I forgot to bring money with me, and I donât want to bother anyone today!â
If they can lie this well, maybe I should worry about not being able to read their thoughts. Immediately after, Saiki dismissed that worry. (Y/N) had a good heart and was earnest as far as he knew. He could trust them.
Not that that mattered in any way. It was just a thought.
âOh, alright, pinky, next time, then!â said Nendou.
Thatâs how easy it is?! Maybe I should lie about having to leave⌠considered Teruhashi.
           Yes, please.
No! I am the perfect pretty girl, not an average girl! I will persevere!
The manager walked out. âAlright, four ramens coming up then.â He was extremely sweaty, balding, and unhealthily overweight. After fixing their dishes, he walked back over. âHere ya go.â He set the bowls down.
The ramen smelled terrible and was spilling from cracks in the bowls. All in all, it looked uneatable. (Y/N) became even more glad that they made up an excuse. Their companions, who had not done anything to avoid this, all had rather nauseated faces.
Teruhashi began to eat the ramen robotically. Clearly, she was forcing herself through this. Kaidou and Nendou watched in shock (neither saw that she was making herself do it).
âI-I donât think you should eat it,â stuttered Kaidou warningly.
           Teruhashi blinked.
(Y/N) nodded. âThat might be unsafe.â Sure, they were fine with some things not going Teruhashiâs way; it was something people had to learn to deal with in life (even perfect pretty girls). However, (Y/N) wasnât mean. They wouldnât willingly endanger someoneâs health.
âHey, pops! Even pigs wouldnât eat this stuff!â yelled Nendou.
âShut up! Then beat it!â shouted the manager.
Quickly, the teenagers cleared out of the disgusting restaurant. As they walked away, poor Teruhashi clutched her stomach. Nendou and Kaidou tended to her sympathetically.
The perfect girl, huh? HmmâŚIf she can go that far in order to play the perfect girl, maybe she already is perfect. Saikiâs eyes trailed over to (Y/N). Well, perfect for eight billion people. Other people are better for me.
           To spend time with, anyway.
(Y/N) looked at Saiki. âStill want to go get coffee jelly?â
âYes.â Saiki didnât even need to think about that answer.
âThen what are we waiting for? Letâs go!â Grinning, (Y/N) grabbed his wrist and pulled him behind them as they ran into an alley that led to another street. They left Nendou, Kaidou, and Teruhashi far behind.
The perfect person. To hang out with. To just be with.
Saiki was glad to smell CafĂŠ Mamiâs sweet treats baking as his thoughts spiraled.
Finally, the pair stopped outside CafÊ Mami. (Y/N) was panting but laughing. Saiki just watched them, slightly amused in his own way.
âLetâs go in! Iâm starving,â said (Y/N).
In response, Saiki nodded. They grabbed a table in a corner so that anyone passing by wouldnât notice them. (Y/N) knew heâd prefer the privacy. They ordered and quickly received coffee jelly. They both sighed contentedly as they took their first bite.
After a time, (Y/N) looked up at Saiki. âSo, what was that whole thing with Teruhashi earlier?â When they got no response, they sighed. âCome on, I know something was going on. You clearly didnât like the look of that restaurant, and you admitted to testing her in a way. So, what was it all about?â
âShe brings attention to me when she hangs around. I think she wants me to say âOh, wowâ since I donât.â Saiki ensured his explanation was phrased as a theory. Otherwise, he risked outing himself as a psychic. (Y/N) was pretty happy-go-lucky but could make a connection from observations pretty easily. Saiki had to be careful. They showed common sense at all the wrong times.
âSo itâs the Teruhashi version of interest in a guy?â (Y/N) laughed. âI guess people always want what they canât have.â Somehow, that statement made their heart clench, and they almost frowned but focused on Saiki again.
Once again, their insight is correct. I want normalcy, something I canât have. And I want⌠Saiki watched as (Y/N) happily continued to eat their coffee jelly. He felt comfortable and normal with them. He felt like he could be himself without fear of judgement (minus psychic abilities). Youâre the only one I can admit is my friend, (Y/N).

So Iâve come with a request. A very reluctant friends to lovers w Steve! Maybe Reader has never understood why all the girls love Steve and has always been just a good friend to him until one day. Something just clicks and heâs suddenly seen in a different light all together.

âI think Iâm going to be single forever,â you sighed as you sat down across from Steve, happy to see that heâd already ordered your favorite coffee. He raised an eyebrow in greeting as you reached over and squeezed his hand.
âYour date went that well?â he grabbed his own coffee and took a long sip as you shrugged.
âHe wasnât the worst,â you rested your cheek in your hand, âuntil he dropped me off at home and asked me to suck him off before I got out of his car. So, putting it lightly, I wonât be seeing him ever again.â
âIâm sorry, honey,â he gave you a small smile as you just shrugged. If he was being completely honest, he wasnât that sorry. Sorry that you had to go through that but not sorry that it didnât work out. He loathed the idea of you going out with anyone else, âyou didnât deserve that.â
âThanks,â at least you always had Steve. You hoped that one day you would find a man as good as him. He was everything to you, and you hoped he knew that as well, âone day itâll work out with someone. Until then, I guess I have to keep kissing the frogs.â
He made a small sound and nodded in agreement. It was then that you noticed the girl behind the counter watched the two of you - Steve - with a wistful look on her face. Your lips drew in a thin line as you tried to hide your eye roll. It wasnât that uncommon; girls often stared at him wherever you went.Â
âWhat?â he nudged your foot under the table and shot you a coy smile, âwhatâs that look for?â
âNothingâŚâ
âLiar.â
âFine,â you leaned in closer so only he could hear you, âthat girl behind the counter is practically drooling over you.â
âOh,â he laughed softly before leaning back in his seat and crossing his arms over his chest, âwhatâs so bad about that, huh? Are you jealous?â
That made you scoff slightly as you waved your hand at him. That was definitely not the word youâd use. He was your best friend after all, âas if. Thatâs not quite the word I would use. Annoyed? Bemused? Those are more accurate.â
âVery funny,â this time it was his turn to roll his eyes at you. You stuck your tongue out at him, âwould you want to do tonight?â
âI dunno,â to be honest, you were still a little down after your disastrous date, âwhatever you want to do is fine, Stevie.â
âNope,â he stood up and reached for your hand. Motioning for you to follow him, âthatâs not what I asked - what do you want to do? You know Iâm just happy to spend time with you.â
âWell thatâs just the thing, Harrington,â you slipped your hand into his, âIâm just happy to spend time with you.â
And you meant it. Everything was a million times better with him.Â
âYeah,â he smiled softly at you, making your heart almost melt, âIâll pick tonight then and you pick next time. Deal?â
âDeal!â
âââ シ ・ďžâ: *.â˝ .* :âďž. âââ
The two of you were taking a walk around the park to kill some before your dinner reservations, hot chocolates in hand. Steve had surprised you with it since youâd been whining about how much you wanted before meeting up. You were reminded again just how amazing and wonderful your best friend was.Â
âItâs pretty out,â you mused as you lightly kicked a big pile of golden and orange leaves. It was almost winter, and you were taking advantage of the weather before it got too cold to do anything for a few months.
âIt is,â he agreed, but he wasnât looking at any of the nature surrounding you. He was looking right at you, âit really is.â
Before you could say anything else, you heard a small scream coming from near the playground. The two of you looked at each other before rushing towards the sound. When you reached the jungle gym, you found a young girl sitting at the bottom of the slide, crying as she held her leg.Â
You looked around but didnât see any adults nearby. Steve didnât waste a moment before handing you his cup and going over to the small girl. A couple of other kids were still running around and playing, but a few stopped to watch him.
âHey sweetheart,â he dropped to his knees so he was on her level, his voice soft and gentle, âwhat happened?â
âI fell off the slide and hurt my leg,â she looked at him with big, wide eyes, cheeks wet with tears, âit hurts really bad.â
âCan I take a look at it?â your heart melted at how gentle and tender he was. Steve just had such a way with everyone - but kids especially. It definitely made you feel some kind of way. The girl nodded immediately, her dark curls bobbing as he looked at her leg. He made a few sounds before reaching up and wiping away some of her tears, âthe good news is that I think youâll be just fine. The even better news is that youâre super brave for how well you handled this.â
âPromise?â she asked and Steve held out his pinkie to her.Â
âPinky promise,â he grinned as she laughed softly at him, âdid you come here with your parents?â
âYeah,â she looked around, âthey were going for a walk and said theyâd be back soon. I was just playing with the other kids.â
âMaybe we should go and find them, huh?â he ruffled her hair and she nodded, slowly attempting to stand up. Steve held up his hand in order to help steady her and she gladly took it, âwhatâs your name?â
âLucy,â she reached for his hand and started to slowly walk. Her knee was skinned, as it often happened with kids, but otherwise she was unscathed. She paused and looked up at her savior, âwhatâs your name?â
âSteve,â he told her and she looked over at you. Steve followed her gaze and smiled at you before offering her your name. Lucy grinned and waved her small hand eagerly at you.Â
âIs she your girlfriend?â she loudly whispered to him, making you laugh softly as you pretended not to hear, âsheâs really pretty.â
âSheâs my best friend,â there was something about the way he said it that made your heart feel a little bit of a pang. It just didnât sound quiteâŚright. But you werenât going to question that just yet, âsheâs really nice too. Câmon kiddo, letâs go and find your parents.â
âOkay,â Lucy started to pull his hand and marched in the direction of where her parents would be. Steve followed diligently behind her, shooting you a wink as you trailed after the two of them. Yeah⌠this was definitely making you feel something.Â
âââ シ ・ďžâ: *.â˝ .* :âďž. âââ
Over the next couple of weeks it was like something had shifted in the way you viewed Steve. Not that youâd ever had anything but love for him, but it was starting to feel a littleâŚdifferent. It felt like you were seeing him in this new, honeyed golden light.Â
It was like you were noticing so many things about him for the first time, despite the fact that he hadnât changed a single thing about himself. You noticed how he always held the door open for others, how he helped anyone that needed, when heâd let people in line go in front of him, when heâd pay for someone elseâs coffee just to make their day. The way that people, especially women, always looked at him in wonder, suddenly made sense. He was justâŚeverything. And youâd been so oblivious the whole time.Â
âWhatâs wrong?â You were at the grocery store with Steve, but youâd stopped mid aisle when you saw him helping some with getting a few things off a high shelf. He turned back to you and gently tugged on your sleeve, âare you okay? Youâre being weird.â
âYouâre being weird,â your face was practically burning at having been caught daydreaming about your best friend. He snorted in amusement, âsorry, just thinking.â
âMust be something important,â he gently tugged you along, back over to the car, âif itâs got you so distracted.â
âItâsâŚâ you. But you werenât about to admit that just that so randomly in the middle of the grocery store on a Saturday afternoon. Maybe youâd never admit it. You werenât completely sure yet, ânothing. ItâsâŚnothing at all.â
âYou sure?â he looked concerned for a moment, giving your hand a small squeeze.Â
âPositive,â you really liked the feeling of his hand in yours. Youâd never noticed just how much, âjust been feeling a littleâŚoff lately I think.â
He tutted softly, stopping to look at you fully. He reached up and took your face in his hands, looking to make sure there wasnât anything heâd missed. Steve gently turned your head from side to side and hummed softly, âjust as I thought.â
âWhat?â your lips pulled into a pout as you wondered what he could possibly say, âSteve.â
âYouâre a horrible liar,â he concluded as you scoffed, reluctantly pulling his hands away from your face. He was getting too close to unnerving you and making you spill your guts out. You werenât ready to. Ugh. He laughed softly before wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you for a hug, âbut I love you regardless.â
Part of you was convinced that he knew exactly what was going on in your mind and he was doing this to torture you, âlove you too.â
This was going to be a whole situation. You just knew it.
âââ シ ・ďžâ: *.â˝ .* :âďž. âââ
Tonight was the night you were finally getting to see the movie youâd been thinking about for months. You werenât sure if Steve actually wanted to see it, but he was a good sport for being willing to go with you. In true Steve fashion, heâd even paid for the tickets and all the snacks youâd both wanted.Â
âIâll get all this stuff if you can grab the popcorn,â he took the stuff without even waiting for an answer. He shot you a quick wink, âthanks.â
You smiled at him, watching as the cashier watched him go as she got your bag of popcorn together. He really did women longing after him left and right; you could understand why. He was good looking and an almost golden retriever of a human being.Â
âYour boyfriend is very sweet,â the woman had a big smile on her face as you raised an eyebrow in confusion. What boyfriend was she talking about? You looked around to see if there was anyone else remaining in the theater lobby. The only person you spotted was Steve.
âI donâtâŚâ
âAnd so handsome too,â her voice sounded almost dreamy as she looked between the two of you. You made a small sound before taking the bag of popcorn that she slid across the counter and slowly made your way back to Steve.Â
âEverything alright?â he asked softly as the two of you started to walk towards the designated theater, âyou lookâŚworried.â
âNothingâs wrong,â you promised with a stiff smile as he opened the door and ushered you in. You were surprised he managed it all considering his arms were full of drinks and snacks and you were only carrying the popcorn, âthanks, Stevie.â
He hummed in content as you picked out a pair of seats away from others near the top. You settled in and made yourself comfortable, finding yourself leaning into Steveâs warm body. He smiled as he put his arm around you, causing goosebumps to raise on your skin.Â
Youâd been wanting to see this movie since youâd heard about it months ago. Youâd even picked out the perfect evening to go, when the theater wouldnât be too crowded and you could enjoy the experience. ButâŚyou couldnât focus on it at all; your mind kept drifting back to Steve. There was something in the way that lady had spoken about him that got to you.Â
Steve who had always been there for you. Steve that had been your best friend since the day he met you almost five years ago. Steve that would do - and has done - anything for you.Â
And thatâs when it hit you. He wasnât just your best friend, he was your everything. When you put the pieces together it made sense why people often thought you were together. Now you just had to figure out what to do with your revelation.Â
âââ シ ・ďžâ: *.â˝ .* :âďž. âââ
You hadnât taken much of the movie in and Steve had noticed. Though it wasnât hard to pick up on the fact that you were distracted when you werenât responding to a single comment or question from Steve.Â
The two of you walked back to his car in relative silence, a small distance that felt far too great between your bodies. Before you could open the passenger side door, Steve leaned against it and softly shook his head, âwhatâs going on? Are you sure youâre-â
âIâm in love with you.â
Well. That hadnât entirely gone to plan. Not that you were sure you even had a plan. It just short ofâŚhappened.Â
âWhat?â he laughed nervously, raking a hand through his hair. He was pretty sure that heâd heard you correctly, but also didnât want to flatter himself. Not yet anyway.Â
âIâŚI think I just realized during the movie,â your entire face felt way too hot, especially with the cool winter breeze that was surrounding you, âand it justâŚcaught me off guard.â
âOff guard?â
âIâŚI think Iâve always known I just neverâŚrealized,â you whispered, turning your face down towards the ground, studying the laces of his sneakers. Steve wasnât quite sure how you felt about the revelation, âbut now I know. Iâm sorry.â
âW-what? Why are you sorry?â you looked up at him, his big brown eyes all soft. You opened and closed your mouth a few times, unsure if he was serious or not.Â
âBecause. I think Iâve just ruined our entire friendship,â you threw your hands up in exasperation, âbecause itâs going to be weird now that I know Iâm in love with you and you donât feel the same way.â
âWhoa,â he reached for your hands and gently wrapped his long, slender fingers around your wrists, âwho said I didnât feel the same?â
âBut you donâtâŚI,â you stopped for a moment and thought about it. Oh. Oh. Steve beamed as he watched you come to yet another huge realization, âyou love me?â
âDuh,â he teased in that gentle tone you loved so much, âtook you way too long to catch up.â
âHow long?â how long had you been blind?
âAbout five years.â
âBut we metâŚfive years ago.â
âI know,â this time he flashed you a shy smile as your expression softened. Heâd been there this entire time but you had been so blind to him. Everything youâd been searching for and wanting had always been, quite literally, right in front of your face.Â
âSteve,â you looked down at your hands, were still safely and warmly developed in his, âSteve.â
He brought one of your hands to his lips and pressed a kiss to your knuckles. You warmed at the touch and it took everything in your power not to jump on him then and there and kiss him silly. He must have been thinking the same thing, âIâve waited a long time to ask you this, but umm, can I kiss you?â
âYeah,â you knew that, deep down, youâd been wanting him to ask for so long, âyes.â
He took your face gently in his hands, brushing his thumb over your cheek as he studied you intently. It was almost ridiculous just how far gone he was for you, âyouâre so beautiful.â
Before you could argue with him, and he knew you well enough to know that you would, he leaned in and brushed his lips against yours. It was gentle at first, testing the waters to see what it was like for both of you. You couldnât help but lean into him, sighing softly at his touch. That seemed to be all he needed in order to deepen the kiss, and you wrapped your arms around him.Â
Neither of you wanted to break apart and only broke apart very reluctantly when you were desperate for a breath of air. The two of you exchanged shy, but happy smiles before laughing. You opened and closed your mouth, trying to find the right words but there didnât appear to be quite anything to properly convey everything you were feeling. You touched his face, ghosting your fingers along his freckles. He put his hand on top of yours and squeezed gently, âI know.â
âOh,â you looked up and a few drops fell on your cheeks, âletâs get out of here.â
âWant me to take you home?â
âI want you to come with me,â you whispered, âI donât want to say good night just yet.â
âMe neither,â he opened the door for you and helped you inside before gently closing the floor and going around to slide into the driverâs seat, âdoes this mean I can kiss you all the time?â
âYeah, Stevie,â you grinned at him, âyou can kiss me anytime.â
âGood,â he pressed a kiss to your forehead, ââcause Iâm going to be doing that a lot.â

The âorange peelâ theory! :3
w / Eli Clark , Aesop Carl , Victor Grantz & Naib Subedar !
A/N : this is a short little scenario! and I don't know if anyone has done this already.
Warnings - none ?
Eli Clark <3
You and him are relaxing at the starting table waiting for the hunter to arrive so the match can start. You had asked the small patroller to bring you a small piece of fruit. It had brought you back an orange.
Eli watched you stare at the orange for a moment to before speaking. âWould you like me to peel that for you my love?â His tone was soft, honestly making you melt at his offer.
âYes please, if you wouldnât mind. I donât really want to have sticky hands before the match.â You saying handing over the orange happily.
He does an okay job peeling the orange. It has a few scratch marks on the slices themself, but overall your thankful you dont have orange peel stuck in your nails or juice staining your hands. Youâd definitely ask him again.
âThank you!â You say plucking the fruit from his hands, even giving him a few slices.
Aesop Carl
He was in the middle of doing nothing, maybe messing around with his coffin doll a little dressing it up and stuff, but he quickly dropped what he was doing to attend to you.
You greet him loveingly as you quickly approaching him, orange in hand. He put his tools down turning toward you. âCould you peel this orange for me pleaseâ You give him a big smile holding it out.
He raises his eyebrow slightly in confusion. âWell, yes I guess I can, but why donât you want to?â Though he asks he still takes the orange from your hands.
âWell you know, I just don't want orange all over my hands, and it a win cause I get to see my lovely boyfriendâ His face an ears turn slightly red. âAh, I see.â
Aesop doesnât peel the orange with his hands through he turns around grabbing his scalpel and just cuts the peel off in a cute swirl.
It would've been even cuter if he hadn't cut off most of the edible part as well. You think next time youâd have better luck just peeling it yourself.
âUh, thank you!â You take the orange from him kissing beside his eye before taking off. He shakes his head as you disappear as fast as youâd appeared.
Victor Grantz
Victor was in the middle of writing a letter when you put your orange down beside his letter. âVictor, may you please be a dear and peel this orange for me!â
You said it so nicely and who is he to decline such a polite request from you. He smiles at you as he picks up your orange with a nod.
The way he peels the orange is perfect. He didnât accidentally puncture it with his nails and manage to remove most of that yucky white part.
He even pulls apart the slices for you, putting them in a heart as he pulled them apart. Youâd definitely come to him again if you needed any fruit peeled.
Kissing his on cheek you take half of them leaving the rest for him. âIâll let you have half since you're working hardâ
Naib Subedar
âNaib-â You don't actually get to finish before he takes the fruit out of your hand. âThank you.â He says graciously, at least so you think, before taking a bite out of the orange, rind and all.
You sputter, eye twitching as you stare at him munch on your orange. âThat-â He cuts you off again thinking your going to comment on him eating the rind.
âIt has more nutrients if you eat the outer part as well.â his mouth is full and he respond. The juice of your orange dripping down his chin.
You stare as him as he finishes off your orange. He has the audacity to thank you and kiss you not even before wiping his face.
You don't ever ask Naib to peel nor cut fruit for you again.
Not proof read! So sorry if there are errors :3

âI fucking hate you, leave me alone!â You scream at your apartment door, hearing Wade on the other end banging harder. You didnât mean any of the words, you wanted to take them all back, you wanted to say youâre sorry and move on. Your hands reach out to tangle in your hair, pulling roughly at the root. Growls of agony and pain tear from your throat as you drop to your knees on the plush carpet, rocking back and forth. âLet me go, please let me go!â None of your words made sense, they felt foreign on your tongue as the pounding got louder, as the screams turned sour. The world faded to black as your head hit the carpet, your throat raw â straining against your sorrows. Footsteps echoed like snow on a winterâs night; The silence was not comforting. Bloodied fists fell beside your face, and Lauraâs soft words lulled you to sleep. âWe will be here when youâre ready. Please, take care of yourself.â
No one expected that a day full of laughing and bonding would take a hard left turn. No one knew what hid beneath your surface, they never realized how bad it was getting. All they saw was smiles and sunshine radiating off of you, never knowing they were caused by pain. You thought you were getting better, that you werenât faking it this time â unfortunately your brain never got the memo. None of your words held any meaning; You knew that but you were worried your friends might not. Then again, day one you did tell Wade to not get attached â that was for his own sake when one day you were no longer here. It was an unspoken song in your head â it never rang true but certain times felt like it would, that it may.
Peterâs party was supposed to be fun, celebrating his anniversary of a year with B-15. A full day planned by Wade and Laura. Logan and you were made to keep them both busy for a while, while Al complained about the constant smell of latex balloons. A day you had been looking forward to for weeks; Spending time with Logan while also not feeling pressured into anything. Wadeâs constant comments about you two shacking up held some tension between the two of you, sometimes making it awkward to even say hi to him. But this was supposed to be a turning point for the best, the manic episodes a thing of the past. You were finally healing, so you thought. Alas nothing stays the same forever; A little chaos thrown into a beautiful painting can sometimes turn the colors muddy.
Thirteen days it has been since you left your apartment, almost a full two weeks since you spoke to anyone. Text messages gone unanswered, calls gone silent. Knocks at the door becoming few and far in between as the days grew longer. The care packages dwindling down to one every other day than ever four hours. They did care, it wasnât a bullshit excuse your mind made up, deep down you fucking knew and yet? It didnât feel right. It was foreign of a concept; A group of people looking out for you because they care. You had been in with every wrong group possible that it ruined any singular chance of trusting their actions. Happy endings were not in your card, so you had convinced yourself. Episodes like this became your only friend, constantly reliving the worst moments over and over until you couldnât cry anymore. The utter pain on Wadeâs face as he cried for you, as Laura tried to help you, as Al reassured you, as Logan held you, were too much to constantly see. The distance was necessary. But never, never would they give up on you.
Over the last two weeks Wade has come by and sat outside your door, recounting missions and how they went to reading the newest Booktok craze in graphic detail, never spearing a moment to see if he could hear you laugh. Instead all he heard was sobs, self-hatred, and pain. It gave you the time to process your rage, to understand it cannot be pointed towards others who were only trying to help, to figure out a way to explain how sorry you are. But you never needed to, because Logan did â and they made sure they let you know. Out of everyone, Logan was rooting for you the most. Looking out for you, making sure no one came to disturb you when he heard your wails of sorrow, letting you feel rather than cause any discomfort. It killed him silently to hear you like this, not to be able to hold you through it, he wanted to do so much more.
Every text that you stomached to read from Logan was always reassuring, never condescending or jokey. Between small quotes he heard over his life of resilience to funny memes he stole from Wade, he was your cheerleader in every way. It helped you to know, even if you didnât respond. It gave you the confidence to finally get up and take a deep breath, to understand what you were going to say. That was your plan for today and nothing was going to stop you. As soon as you realized in the early afternoon, you spent the rest of the time cleaning up your apartment, taking a shower, and getting your best comfy clothes on to have a sit down chat with everyone. It felt like everything was going to be okay â you felt like you had control over your emotions; This time it would be easy to convey what sparked your episode. Taking a deep breath you opened your apartment door as walked across the hall to Wadeâs, keeping your hand steady as you knocked.
The controlled, hard thuds rang through your wrist as you heard a groan come from the other side, inaudible mumbles coming from Althea. A small smirk played across your lips as you heard her rambles, knowing how feisty the older woman is. The door to Wadeâs apartment opened quickly as she stood facing you. Seeing Al after a few weeks of going MIA made your throat dry up, only hearing her words of reassurance as you had a breakdown. Instead of speaking you stared at the woman, fingers slightly trembling. Al let out a sad breath, her shoulders slumping slightly. âOh honey, come on in.â How she knew that it was you wasnât even a question in your mind, just her gentle nature of feeling you made your eyes misty. Al left a decent gap between her and the door as you crossed over the threshold, staring into the comfortable space.
You could tell that Wade and Laura werenât around, considering how the pull-out mattress wasnât out still and Wadeâs door was wide open. But you knew he was here. As Al closed the door behind the two of you, the third door of the right opened quickly, the wood creaking against the hinges. Standing in the doorway with warm eyes and a stoic stance was Logan, staring at you like he was in disbelief. He didnât move, he didnât blink, instead he kept his eyes on your face. Your hair was tucked behind your ears and away from your features; Loganâs eyes trailed over each part with a soft smile on his lips, relief coursing through his veins. âHow are you doing?â he asked calmly, not moving a muscle as he gauged your response. The tranquil state you were previously in started to crumble at those four words, your eyes growing tight and blurry as you stared into Loganâs hazel eyes. Your fingers began to shake as your heart raced, a sob threatening to tear from your throat without warning. All you could do was shake your head at Loganâs question, blinking your tears away. Without a thought, you moved fast into Logan as you wrapped your arms around him, pressing your face into his flannel. Everything you had been holding onto for two weeks was already coming out; The dame officially breaking as he held you. âI got you, sshh â youâre okay,â Logan responded as he rubbed your back, tightening his hold on you as you cried.
Logan slowly shuffled you backwards into his bedroom, letting the heavy door shut on its own as he held you the entire way. Due to how lost you were in his sweet embrace, you didnât realize that you were now in Loganâs room or better yet, laying with him on his bed. Positioning you to face him, Logan never let you go as he pulled you close to him, letting your face press into his neck as he pulled the comforter over the two of you. Short, sweet hums left his lips as he rested his cheek against the top of your head, letting your subconsciously link his thick legs with yours. âIâm proud of you for coming over, you know that?â Those words warmed your chest as you felt your body shiver, the praise meaning everything to you. Pushing your face deeper against the crook of Loganâs neck, you belted out a wail as you gripped his shirt, just knowing it was starting to soak with the runoff of your tears. You shook your head against his chest, slightly digging your nails through his shirt.
Over the last year you watched Logan transform from gruff and rugged emotionally to happy and prideful. Though that hardened shell of his would never leave, he seemed to be a lot lighter mentally. After he became the new anchor being, new resident of Earth-10005, and the new friend of Wade, which all still was confusing to your human brain, he realized that life was so much more than reliving your past â and learning to move forward from it. It was a slow journey for him but, he found solace in the understanding and knowing. Which is why he didnât hesitate to grab you and pull you close, knowing this only mirrored what you did for him all those months ago. Being on the receiving end of it felt bizarre for you, but it felt like home. You didnât want to believe it, but it was true. âYou shouldnât,â a low whispered escaped through your sob as Logan trailed his fingers over your back, drawing small shapes against your hoodie.
âBut I am, itâs a big first step.â It was true in a way, the first step was always the acknowledgement. Just leaving your apartment was a great first attempt, and now you were really making strides. âWe love you so much, I love you, sweetheart.â Hearing Logan say that caused your heart to clench; The game of cat and mouse of feelings you two have been ping-ponging over the last year reached its peak quickly during this whole time, realizing you two were in silent cahoots â there never needed to be a talk about labels when it happened to naturally. Neither one of you would admit it but, you were together way before any of this went down. Swallowing down the smartass retort wanting to slip off your tongue, you sank your nails a bit deeper into his shirt, feeling his hiss come out. âDonât say shit you donât mean, Lo. Do you know how to love?â
You hated yourself for those words, knowing you didnât mean it but let it go anyways. A typical defense tactic to push people away. Logan knew it too which is why he never responded, only snickered at your persistence. He knew exactly how you would react, knowing from your past conversations about your previous episodes. Running his beard across the side of your cheek, Logan nodded against your face as he spoke, âI love Wade. I love Laura. I love Al. And most importantly, I love you.â Hearing him say again that he loved you shouldâve been one of the happiest moments, knowing you both were making great strides in your relationship, yet it left a burning hole of lies in your chest. You scoff at Loganâs declaration, a fresh wave of warm tears cascading down your cheeks as you push your face further into his burly chest. You tried so hard to mask your cry with a cough but, Logan knew better. The words holding their true meaning, the truth snaking its way through your brain. Shaking your head against his pecs, you inhale a deeply, smelling his shower gel and natural musk flooding your nose. âYou donât love me, you barely know me.â
Logan smiles softly above you, trying not to roll his eyes at your clear avoidance of the talk you were about to have. He found your stubbornness endearing, seeing a bit of himself within you. He was the same way after all, never acknowledging or wanting to accept but always question, always avoid. Hiding and not accepting the truth was easier than healing at times. Logan placed his lips to the top of your head as he kisses it gently, rubbing his large hand up and down your back. He never let his lips pull back your head as you let out his words, wanting the warmth of his breath to sink in, hoping that would help you to understand the truth over the lies your mind was telling. âThen give me a chance to.â It slipped out between his lips so naturally you had no time to adjust, hitting you like a ton of bricks.
You stop in the moment; Your breathing, your crying, your whole body. Loganâs words sank deep within your soul, causing a bloom of emotion to burst within your chest. The truth was burning your nerves one by one, every fiber alight and refusing to be put out with your self-doubt. Every stage of grief you could possibly feel ran through your with cold fingers, awakening you for what felt like centuries. Trembling hands grip tighter at his flannel tighter, pulling him close and pushing him away at the same time. Your brows furrow as you scan the darkness within, trying to find a reason why he shouldnât. All you could find was positive after positive with Logan, remembering how he tried to do the same to you and you refused to give up on him. Now it was your turn, but stepping into the unknown scared you more than anything else. Opening yourself up to him, was terrifying. âDonât push me away, please.â Logan whispered into your hairline, feeling his own soul hurt for you.Â
âThatâs all I know how to do.â It wasnât a lie persay, but it wasnât the whole truth. You never pushed away the gang, not ever. Anytime you were mildly upset you made sure to be with them, and they stayed with you through it all. Even the times you got annoyed with them, you never gave up on that friendship. You knew deep down youâd never push them away, in fact it was funny to you how you even thought that. As Wade had one said, we are like herpes â we never leave, sweet cheeks. âLet me help you break that cycle.â You wanted to believe Logan, trust his words and actions of the man you love. But it was fear inducing to do so, because every what if made its way out of the wood works, chiming in their two cents. What if he leaves you? What if he moves on? What if he is saying this just to make you happy? What if he doesnât mean it? What if he just feels sorry for you?
The offer to help you break the cycle was what set you off, tearing yourself away from Logan. Sitting up roughly on his bed, you bunched the comforter down at your hips, placing your head in your hands. The fresh wave of tears was threatening to spill over as you shook your head, your knees trembling with every inhale. âWhat if it canât be broken, Logan?â You pan your eyes up at him, your bottom lip quivering. âWhat if thatâs all Iâm ever going to be destined for? Healing others while I hurt myself. I donât know if I can be fixed, or changed or-â Logan abruptly stopped your spiel as he reached for you, holding your face within his hands. The gentle flecks of golds and emeralds swimming in his irises caused your heart to flutter, his natural beauty causing your cheeks to warm. He stared at you like a man in love, needing you to know just how precious you are.
âI said the same thing about myself, for fucking years. I refused to believe I could be happy, in a better place mentally, I didnât want to be happy. I wanted to hurt, knowing what I did to cause pain to others. I believed I deserved it. Not a day goes by where I sometimes slip into my old routine. But I remember that people do appreciate me, they do love me - even if I donât want to believe it.â You noticed how Logan wasnât aware he was crying with you, his tears slowly falling from the inner corner of his eyes as he spoke. The hold he had on your face growing harder, not in a painful way but in a comforting one. Every word he spoke he wanted to sink in, to show you if it wasnât the end for him â it wasnât for you either. âBut-â you chimed, trying to find a reasoning but coming up short. âNo buts, just feel. What do you want, sweetheart?â
The question held a lot of meaning, a lot of endless possibilities that you werenât able to explore in your lifetime. For the first time in so long, you felt like you finally had a choice over your own decisions, not your mental health. The way you stared at Logan, with admiration and hesitance caused his heart rate to speed up, his palms growing clammy at what you may say. He could smell your fear, hear your heart pumping at an abnormal rate. Placing his wide palm against your calf, he rubbed over your leggings with languid strokes, helping to coax your answer out. The feelings finally setting in, everything hitting its peak, knowing you were not going to be hitting rock bottom again. âI want to be happy.â It didnât sound real coming from your mouth, foreign against your tongue as Logan painted his face with a slow smile, admiring your strength and truth to wanting to be happy, instead of staying in that darkened space.
âLouder, darlin.â Logan coaxed with a gentle smile, pressing his lips to your temple as he took a deep inhale. He liked to believe that was his way of ridding you of this pain, inhaling it so he could hold onto it â so you could feel at peace. A small grin made its way upon your lips as you closed your eyes, sinking into his touch deeper. His arms came to hold you against his chest, peppering kisses along the left side of your face as you exhaled. âI want to be happy, Logan.â This time it felt real, felt right coming from you. Your tears dried up quickly, the sticky residue still on your cheeks as you started to get back on your metaphorical feet. His kisses caused your stomach to burn with love and passion. Grabbing at his right hand, you pulled it to your lips as you kissed over where his claws would come out, showing him how even something so deadly deserves care.
âGive yourself permission to.â Logan smiles genuinely as he cups your cheek, running the pad of his thumb over your skin. Reveling in his touch was the only thing you could do, watching him with hearts in your eyes as you smiled. Having someone like Logan be so patient with you, caring for you like no one before has, made you feel safe. It made you feel like things were really going to get better, and now they were. He was right, you needed to give yourself over to your own happiness, and welcome it in. It was a scary thing to adjust to but, you deserved it. The torment you had been putting yourself through, dealing with crisis after crisis and believing every mean word to be true, you deserved this much needed break and acceptance. Logan pressed his forehead against yours as he closed his eyes, wanting you to take in every word deep within your soul. âIâll be with you, every step of the way. I wonât give up on you.âÂ
That was all you needed for the tears to start again, this time though â they were different. They were sweet this time around, not sour and hateful like earlier. This time they were cool to the touch, not scalding hot. Hearing the love of your life say that, meant the world was healing. You were silently giving yourself over to Logan fully, letting him help you instead of shutting him out. Welcoming him in during your time of need was what the world gave you, and you were never going to take it for granted. Sighing out into his touch, you sniffed back a few tears as you cleared your throat, knowing another cry would slip out sooner. âNo oneâs ever told me that.â
It broke Loganâs heart to hear that, knowing people gave up on you too easily during your time of need. He couldnât bear the thought of you alone in the world, dealing with the demons on your own; He needed you to know he would make sure you never fell down that path again. Leaning into you, Logan pressed his plush lips against yours, letting the slow hum of the central air drown out the loud voices in his mind. Just like that the world stood still, in this moment it was just you and Logan â no one else, no other thing. Time stopped to let you both take this all in, to realize two souls were converging into one, and the path ahead was twisting together for the two of you. The soft nature of the kiss felt like it could heal all of your wounds, and deep down you believed that it did. Logan was stitching together every slice in your being, healing those jagged scars, stitching your soul into one again. âGood thing Iâm not no one,â Logan smiled against your lips, stealing a few sweet kisses as he nudging his nose to yours, making you look up at him. âIâm someone to you.â

Andyâs voice sounds like oil even through the phone.Â
âWell?â The expectant word rolls off his tongue. âIâm waiting.âÂ
Itâs hard to speak, like the words are stuck in your chest. You lick your dry lips, casting a nervous glance around the phone store.Â
âI want to talk.âÂ
âYes, Honey. You said that already.â
âIâI want you to stop hurting people. You have to stop, Andy!â The phone trembles in your clammy hands as you readjust your grip on it. Ari is still asleepâor at least, he had been when youâd crept out from underneath his arm after heâd fallen asleep. Otherwise, heâd surely have stopped you. From across the counter, the employee gives you a frustrated glare. Itâs almost closing time, and you donât exactly have spare minutes to skip around the point. Youâd also promised her a saleâwhich you absolutely were not going to follow through on either.Â
âYou know why Iâm hurting people.â He sounds like heâs going to say something else, but the grainy sound of an infantâs cry derails him. Your chest clenches, and tears gather in the corners of your narrowed eyes. âSee? Look who youâre hurting, Honey. All this foolishness, and all youâve managed to do is hurt everyone around you. You hurt our daughter.â Andy sighs. âAnd yourself. Youâre quite good at that.â
You take a deep, trembling breath. It doesnât matter that it isnât true, that none of it is true. It doesnât matter that heâll think itâs his idea. Itâs better. Better if he does.Â
âYouâre right.â The words feel like glass on your tongue. âYouâre right.â The sound of him clucking his tongue through the receiver is enough to raise your hackles. You want to hang up the phone, to press the end call button and leave. You want to say itâs your devotion to Dove that keeps you on the line, and mostly it is. But thereâs the part of you that Andy ownsâthe part you expect heâll own forever that believes him. âI⌠Iâm sorry.â You hate that part of you that really is.
âIâm sorry for everything.â Thereâs no response, but you know heâs still thereâyou can hear Dove gurgling against his shoulder. âItâs my fault. I got scared, Andy. IâI hate it, without you.â You hear his thoughtful hmm thought the receiver.Â
âThen tell me where you are, Honey. So I can come and get you, and this whole ugly mess will be all finished.â You donât want to.Â
âIâI will, but you have to promise me you wonât hurt anyone else. Promise me, Andy.âÂ
âTell me something, Sweetheart, who is Ari Levinson?â
Youâd called Andy with the resolve to give him nothing. To placate and pacify him until he allowed you to see Dove again. What you werenât prepared for was him knowing about Ari. Your chest tightens as his words ring again in your earsâPromise me you wonât go back. Promise me.
Iâm sorry, Ari.
Your non-answer is enough to make Andy sigh.Â
âSo you do know him.â The displeasure in his voice is easy enough to hear, and it fills you with cold dread. Heâs trained you that way, made you hyper responsive to every one of his moods. You canât help it now, your body tightening like a piano wire at the sound of his disappointment.Â
âI really thought you would keep better company, Honey. Dishonorable discharge, manslaughter, criminal intimidationâŚâ Andy trails off, clucking his tongue. Your heart is pounding, your trembling, clammy hands gripping the phone so tightly your fingers hurt. Manslaughter? Intimidation? Ari hadnât told you any of thatâbut you suppose you hadnât really asked. You know Andyâs only doing this to make you unsure, to shake up your footing and keep you guessing while he gathers all the cardsâand heâs good at it. He chuckles at your silence.Â
âOh Honey. He didnât tell you, did he?â Andy doesnât even bother hiding his amusement. âIâm always telling you you canât just trust anyone off the street, Honey. These people youâre with, theyâre not good people.âÂ
Youâre not good people, you think savagely, though your resolve crumbles as you hear Doveâs sleepy wail through the phone. She needs you, and your whole body aches at the thought of being unable to fulfill that need. Andy clears his throat.Â
âIâm going to ask again, Honey, and I really want you to be honest with me when you answer. Who. Is. Ari. Levinson.â
âH-he just helped me, thatâs all,â you mumble. âIrâmy contact, she⌠she knows him. I donât really⌠I havenât spent much time with him.â Andyâs always been good at knowing when you lieâand you wait anxiously to see if heâll taste the mistruth in your words. The silent seconds tick by as you hear him quiet your daughter and sigh deeply.Â
âIf I send Robert to get you, Honey, youâre coming home this time. Understand?â
âI-I want to come h-home.â The word feels like acid in your throat, but you want to swallow it back down anyway, so he canât hear it. âI need to come home. I-I miss Jacob.â You doâthat part, at least, is true.Â
âHoney I want that more than anything. Itâs going to be good, better, Sweetheart. So much better than before.â His words do everything but reassure you. âYou donât know how good it feels to hear you say that.â  You imagine him in his office, standing in front of the fireplace. Itâs so clear you can almost see it, instead of the dingy used phone store. âHeâll be there tomorrow morning, early. Train station.âÂ
âI-Iâll be there.â
âI know you will.â
âYou promise if I do thisâyou wonât, you wonât hurt anyone else, right?â You hear the line clicking in his silence.Â
âI promise.âÂ
âÂ
The walk back to the shop takes you twice as long, probably because you keep stopping, staring ahead of you silently as your thoughts boil over and out of control. Youâd promised Ariâand youâd known, even then, that you would break it. The sight of Ireneâs face, his wound, it had all made your decision as easy as it could possibly be:
You were going to get Dove yourself.Â
Youâd underestimated Andyâs connections, and two nights ago was proof enough of that. Pronge was proof of that. If you donât go back now, you know they wonât survive another encounter. And Andy⌠you know he can spin it. Just like he had your disappearance. He wouldnât let you go, he never would. Heâd make it cost too much. It already cost too much, you think to yourself, clenching your fists angrily.Â
It feels like no matter what you do, no matter what you choose or how hard you fight, you just. Keep. Losing. You come to the dead end street where Zemoâs abandoned-but-not garage sitsâbut you walk right past it. You canât go back yet, you donât have your story straight. Hell, you donât even have your own fucking head straight. You canât face either of them right now.Â
How do I tell Ari?
You donât want to think about how devastated heâll be, how angry. You doubt heâll understandâyou canât leave Dove with Andy, alone to twist her mind and shape her into God knew what. No, you canât do that. You canât even consider it. You didnât want to leave Jacob either, but you knew you couldnât manage two babies, not when Andy had barely let you escape with one. Ari will blame himself, you know that much already.Â
But knowing heâll hate you is far better than knowing he was dead because of you.
Itâs a gray day, and the off-again-on-again rain has managed to soak through your borrowed sweatshirt. Once you round the large, empty park at the far end of the neighborhood, you decide to head back. You donât really feel much better, but you know you canât stay out by yourself much longer. Once you round the corner and turn onto the block, you spot Ari standing outside, in front of the closed garage door bay.Â
âWhat are you doing? Where did you go?â He asks, frowning down at you worriedly. âYou canât justââ Ari stops himself, and blows out a harsh, frustrated breath. âMouse, you know he isnât going to stop.âÂ
You look down at your feet. âI know.â He steers you back inside with his good hand.Â
âLetâs go over the plan again.â You canât help but roll your eyes. He canât see you, but somehow, Ari knows. âHey. Come on, humor me.âÂ
âFine.â You lean against the dusty front counter as you watch him close the door and lock it behind him, lowering the security grate before bolting that, too. âStep one: Canada. Step two: new identity. Step three: Come back, get Dove.â You know this is what they want, what they say is best, safest.Â
And you know theyâre right, it is whatâs safestâfor you.
Andy has a long memoryâand his patience exceeds that of a fucking saint. Heâd waited eight years for you. You donât want to know how long heâs willing to wait to put another bullet in Ari. And somehow, you know that if he comes to do it himself, he wonât miss.Â
âGood. I know itâs hard right now. But I promise you, I will be with you every single step of the way, okay? We are not giving up on Dove.â Ari cups your chin with a tenderness that brings burning tears to your eyes. You blink them back, burying your face against his chest.Â
âI know.â The rough fabric of his sling against your cheek strengthens your resolve, though. âThanks, Ari.âÂ
âYouâre welcome.â He kisses the top of your head. âNot the biggest fan of Quebec but Montreal is nice. Maybe weâll go there, first.â Andyâs voice echoes unpleasantly in your head. Dishonorable discharge. Manslaughter. Ariâs laughter falters. âWhatâs wrong, Mouse?âÂ
âN-nothing.â You shake your head, attempting to clear it of the ghosts Andy had put in it. âDid you go to Montreal while you were in the army?â You ask, and his expression darkens, just a little.Â
âNo. After, actually. After I left.â The why hangs unspoken in the air between you, and you hesitate to breathe it into existence yourself, no matter how desperate the desire. âI told you about my sister. Her husband.â He sighs. âI wasnâtâI wasnât alright. When they died. Iâm probably still not, but it⌠I was angry. I wanted to kill him, Mouse. I wanted to hurt him like he hurt them and I wanted him to know why.â
âDid you?âAri doesnât look proud. He looks⌠sad. Like he doesnât want you to know, like heâd rather lie instead of letting a single shred of the truth pass his lips in this moment. But Ari isnât a liar, youâve learned that well enough.Â
âYes.â Heâs looking at you but his eyes are so far away that you know he isnât, really. You donât know what heâs seeing, but you know it isnât you. âI did. I know I should regret itâwhat I did. But I couldnât. I canât.â You arenât afraid of him, even though perhaps, you know you probably should be. And yet, even amidst his confessions, all you feel is safe.Â
So safe.Â
âI went to Montreal after that.â
You donât know what else to say, but you wrap your arms around him, the tips of your fingers barely touching around his broad back. Itâs the only thing you can think to give him in this moment. Words may fall short, and you know that he will dwell on them tomorrow when youâre gone, dissect them with the same stubborn diligence he shows you at every opportunity. But this, this he wonât be able to deny, to spin.Â
Ari hums, squeezing you affectionately.Â
âMind if I change the subject now, Mouse?â He asks, sighing the words into your hair. âBesides, if we stay out much longer, Ireneâs liable to come looking for us.âÂ
âToo late.â Her irritated voice makes you jump. âWhere did you get off to?âYou swallow thickly, hoping Ari doesnât hear it.Â
âI just took a walk.â In the beat of silence before Ireneâs response, you can practically hear her roll her eyes. You turn to see her doing just that, and you wonder briefly if your powers of prophecy might lend themselves to something more useful. She jerks her head toward the office.Â
âWell, walk yourself in here a minute, would you? Weâve got to get these tickets sorted.â Ari snorts with laughter. âThat was good, right?â She grins, carding a hand through her silver-blonde hair. Irene hasnât been nearly as forthcoming as Ari with informationâlike she almost doesnât want to know you, or like sheâs afraid to get close. The disapproving look she fixes Ari with only further substantiates your theory.Â
Reluctantly, you follow Irene inside.Â
â
Andy takes a long, slow sip of his scotch, holding the liquor on his tongue before swallowing. The ice clinks gently against the glass, and after a moment, he sets it down to ponder the object in his other hand.Â
Your ring is beautifulâa classic marquis cut diamond, flanked by alternating long and short baguette cuts. It fit you perfectlyâheâd had it made for you, so of course it had. Large enough that other women made a fuss over it whenever they saw it, but still classy, not ostentatious.Â
Youâd left it on the dresser, next to the ankle monitor you managed to slip off without tripping the alarm. Andyâs lip curls, and he downs another mouthful.Â
Letâs see her take off a goddamn chip.
The sound of tiny footsteps outside his office door makes Andy turn, just in time to see Jacob poke his head around the doorframe. Heâs nearly four now, and he can reach the handle without standing on the tips of his toes, now.Â
âHey, bud. What is it? You know youâre supposed to be in bed.â Jacobâs lip trembles.Â
âDaddy, I had bad dream,â he replies shakily, rubbing his watery eyes with the back of his chubby hand. âWent for mommy but she not there.âÂ
It takes everything Andy has not to blame you, but he swallows the urge. You canât help itâyou donât have his vision, his foresight. You donât see how much he needs you, how great you could be together if you would just let him lead you. Heâd tried to replace you with Laurie, and look how that had turned out. No, Andy had already tried back-up plans B, C, and D when what he really needed was just to try A one more time.Â
âDaddyâs sorry to hear that, Jake. Would you like to come sit with me?â He nods, sniffling. Andy hoists his toddler up onto his lap, rubbing his back with a gentle hand. âWhat was the dream about?âÂ
âThe bad-glasses-man.â Jacob says seriously, turning his glassy, terrified eyes to his father. Andyâs face remains passive, but inwardly he rages. Prongeâs comings and goings are easy enough to hide from the rogue paparazzi and the plain-clothes cops he knows are lurking just beyond the property gate, but significantly less so from his son, apparently.Â
âWhoâs the glasses man?â He knows the answer, but he needs the confirmation. The question alone is enough to upset him, and Jacob begins to fret, his eyes watering as he shakes his head.
âI donât like him. His face is red.âÂ
The night heâd brought Dove back, heâd been practically covered in bloodâthe only clean thing was the goddamn baby. Andy didnât ask where the hired muscle was, and Robert did not volunteer the information.Â
âYou know that was a dream, donât you, tough guy?â Andy says, wiping the tears from his sonâs chubby cheeks with the pad of his thumb. âWhen you go to sleep, you have dreams. And what we see in our dreams isnât real, remember?â
âI âmember, daddy.â Jacob still looks rather upset, though, and Andy wonders what else he hasnât managed to hide, what other loose ends he hasnât managed to tuck. âHimâs scary.â
Heâd been planning of disposing of Pronge anywayâpassing along ânewâ evidence to his friends in the DAâs office in Florida would be more than enough to have a needle in his arm before he could so much as kick dirt at Andrew Barberâs pristine legacy.Â
âItâs okay to be scared, Bud. Thanks for coming to see meâthatâs what dads are for.âÂ
âAnd moms.â Jacob adds seriously, and Andy smiles and nods in agreement though his free hand clenches against the seat where his son canât quite see it.Â
âAnd moms.âÂ
â
Dinner is takeout, with Ari meeting the delivery driver three blocks away, just to be safe. You can feel Ireneâs eyes on you the whole time heâs gone. You wonder if maybe she knows somehow, if sheâs figured out your plan just from plain experience and observation. Her face is still a mess of bruising, but the swelling around her eye has gone down enough for her to squint out of it, which is what sheâs currently doing as she looks at you. Her nose is still red and angry, the bruised, veiny skin peeking out around the bandage and splintâPronge had broken it.Â
âIâm sorry.â You feel compelled to apologize againâafter all, youâre responsible. Sure, Robert had been the one to break it, but you feel like you might as well have driven your own fist into her face for all the difference it made. âI didnât know Andy would⌠that he would call someone like that.â Youâd thought you knew Andy, that you understood him, who he was. And that had been why youâd let him back in.Â
But you hadnât, you see that now. Not even a little bit.Â
Irene snorts. âRobertâs a parasite. Iâm not surprised heâs got himself mixed up with a big fish like Andrew Barber.â She crosses her arms. âHeâs always had a talent for finding garbage.âÂ
âYou know him?â You ask, grimacing. Ireneâs scowl deepens with regret, and she looks away. Sheâs by no means a small woman, broad shouldered and tallâbut she looks somehow diminished.
âS-sorry, I, I shouldnât pry. IâI know weâre supposed to keep the interpersonal stuff to a minimumââ You ramble apologetically to fill the awkward space your question has left, but Irene cuts you off.Â
âHe was my first partner. Before lover-boy,â she adds, snorting. Your cheeks heat. You canât stop your face from contorting in confusion. âHe was my transporter, till he turned one of my girls back over to her husband.â She looks down at her hands. âMy last girl, before, well, you.â Ireneâs laugh is dry, but not bitter.Â
âI didnât know I was your one last job,â you reply. âWhereâd you meet Pronge?âÂ
âWhat can I say? Your email was very convincing.â Your chest hurts at this, bad. You want to tell her, tell her everything, your phone call with Andy, your dealâbut you donât. Sheâll only try to stop you. Sheâs already suspicious of you, you knowâyou canât be the first to think about going back, to weigh the pros and cons and find the latter holds more water. Instead, you watch her tug the chain out from beneath her collar with her thumb.Â
âMilitary. Same place I met Ari,â she adds.Â
âYou were all there together?â You ask incredulously, and she actually laughs, shaking her head. âIn the army?âÂ
âNo, no. Six degrees of separation, type thing.â The chain link rattles as Ari pulls it up, and you turn to watch him duck underneath before lowering it back down and snapping the padlock into place to keep it shut. âDidnât even know this prick till I needed an east coast cover.â She jerks her thumb at him as he sighs, shaking his head.Â
âTalking about me again, ladies?â He says, putting the bag down heavily on the counter. âDonât stop on my account.âÂ
âWasnât going to,â Irene retorts. âAnd we werenât Army.â She scrunches up her nose with distaste. âThat, there, darlinâ,â she points at Ari. âIs a Marine.â She turns her accusatory finger back on herself. âMarine.âÂ
You offer her a wry smile. âIâm not sure what the difference is, butââ you hold your hands up placatingly as her face screws up with offense. âI do believe you that there is a difference.âÂ
âDamn right.âÂ
Ariâs hand finds the small of your back as he passes by behind you, and you donât jump at his presence.Â
âThereâs not really that much of a difference.â He murmurs cheekily, and you stifle a giggle, biting your lip. âJust so you know.â Ariâs lips graze the shell of your ear, and your whole face goes hot.Â
âI heard that, asshole,â she snaps, jabbing her finger in Ariâs direction again. âThere is.â Irene eats alone, waving her hand and shaking her head as she shovels food out onto her plate. âNo, no. I need time away from you two. No offense.âÂ
âNone taken.â Ari replies, slinging an arm around your shoulder. âYouâre in a shit mood anyway.â You donât have to see Irene flipping him off to know itâs happening, but you peek over your shoulder anyway, and snicker with laughter as she proudly presents her middle finger. Ari ignores her.Â
You eat in companionable silence, before Ari, elbows you gently.Â
âYou sure youâre okay?â He asks, and your chest fills with that too-familiar-ache. âReally?â
âIâm fine.â You donât know if he believes you, but he doesnât ask again. Instead, he does something else entirelyâAri dotes on you. He reminds you to finish your food when you push it away half-eaten. If not for me, then for Dove, Mouse. Canât make milk for her if youâre starving. And when youâre done, he takes your plate, tossing it in the trash for you. Youâre still wired, however, electricity running under your skin as the hours wind down. Itâs all you can do not to pace.Â
Andy had taught you that you couldnât have your cake and eat it tooâbut goddamn do you want to. You want your daughter, and you want Ari. It feels unfair that you canât, mostly because it is. Andy gets to have it all. Do it all, and what do you get? To crawl back to him on your belly because heâs still. Fucking. Winning.Â
Ari places a hand on your thigh, stilling it. You hadnât even realized youâd been bouncing it nervously, staring off into space. His concern cuts through the noise of your anxiety.Â
âYouâre going to drive yourself crazy.â He grasps your hands. You sigh.Â
âI know.â You hang your head. âIâI canât stop thinking about Dove,â you admit, hanging your head. âHow she needs meâŚâ Ari squeezes your hands together, his larger ones enveloping them.Â
âYou need you.â He strokes the backs of your hands softly with his thumb. âYou realize that, donât you, Mouse?â You try to resist when he tucks a finger underneath your chin to make sure youâre looking at him, and when you do, you find his eyes shiny with unshed tears. âPlease tell me you understand.âÂ
âI understand.âÂ
You want toâbut you donât even know who you are anymore. Without Dove, you feel adrift; sheâd been your anchor, your purpose and drive. You needed to protect her, to get her away from Andy and keep her safe and whole and good. You reasoned you could fix yourself after, duct tape was good enough for you. But now that he has her again and your plan lies in ruins around you, you donât even know what youâre doing this for. The various splintered pieces of you held in place by thin tape are falling apart again, and you donât have another way to make them stay together.Â
When Ari pulls you to his chest you go willingly, tucking yourself against his chest. He smells like pine musk and rain and just a hint of sweat, and you bury your nose in the folds of his shirt. You want to remember him, remember every moment youâd spent with him because they were precious. Of course only you realize it as you stand upon the precipice of never seeing him again, but you canât change that now. Youâre okay with it, trading the feeling of Ariâs solid body against yours, the surety of his presence, for knowing heâll get to keep breathing.Â
Heâs worth that to you.Â
Ari presses a kiss into your hair.Â
âI fucking swear I will do everything in my power to make sure that he never hurts either of you again.â It breaks your heart to know that no matter how hard he tries, Ari will never be able to keep that promise.Â
I think I love you. âThank you.â Iâm sorry.Â
âLetâs get some rest.âÂ
You swallow against the tide of words that threaten to come crashing out of your mouth, and nod instead. He leads you back to the makeshift bedroom, and climbs into the cot beside you. He holds you, tucking your head beneath his chin as, for the last time, you fall asleep beside Ari Levinson.Â
â
âYou look like shit.â Prongeâs voice is mocking. You glower at him from across the empty parking lot, but you donât get any closer. You hadnât been waiting there long when the sleek black car had pulled into the lot, with Pronge oozing out of the driverâs side door. âWhat? You get cold feet all of a sudden?â He doesnât have to yell to be heardâthereâs no traffic, no people. The train station is practically a ghost-town at this hour, so thereâs no one to overhear, either.Â
âNo.â You narrow your eyes at him, before reluctantly stepping forward. You see no reason not to be honest. âI just hate you.â He grins at your admission.Â
âHappy to see you too, Sweetcheeks.â Pronge throws open the door to the black sedan next to him, and jerks his thumb at the back seat. âNow get in. Your hubbyâs eagerly waiting for you a three hour drive back to fucking Boston.â He sneers. âWhat, you deaf too? I said move it.âÂ
Youâre halfway across the lot when the sound of your name makes your eyes widen. You turn, and behind you is Irene, leaning against the gate as she pants. Your own eyes widen with panicâsheâs not supposed to be here. You swear sheâd been sleeping not forty-five minutes ago, though the steady rise and fall of her chest in the dark had been your only indication. Ari doesnât seem to be with her though, and you wonder if sheâd rushed here straight out of bedâshe isnât wearing any of her gear, and the knife you know she keeps in her belt is nowhere to be seen.Â
âWhat the fuck are you doing?â Irene looks from you to Pronge and then back again. Your chest aches as the realization crosses her face, betrayal settling in soon after. âYou canât do this.âÂ
âOh but this is delicious,â Pronge drawls, stepping around the open door. His greasy hair hangs limply into his face. âSheâs going home to daddy.â Â
âThe fuck you are,â Irene retorts. âYou know you canât.â She isnât even talking to Pronge anymore, just you. âYou can drink poison knowing itâs poison, but youâll still die. Andy is never going to let you go, you know that. You told me what it was like in the basement. Itâs going to be ten times as bad if he gets his hands on you again.â Irene fixes you with a pleading, earnest look. âPleaseââ
Youâve heard gunshots beforeâplenty of times, nowâbut this doesnât sound like one. Itâs why you donât understand it when Ireneâs chest erupts in a spray of dark, warm red. You can smell it, like burned, raw meat. It dribbles out of her mouth as she stumbles forward and then falls down onto the dark pavement, twitching. You clutch at your face with your hands as the scream that had built up in your chest emerges as a wheeze.Â
You look at Robert, watching with horror as he stows a pistol with a long silencer attached back into his filthy jacket. The blacktop is slick with morning dew as you race across it, slipping and skidding until you reach her.Â
âHelp me!â Irene is gasping and twitching, her eyes rolling wildly as you push her onto her back, pushing your trembling hands against the hole in her chest. âWhat-what do I-I donât know what to do, Iââ Jerkily, she lifts a hand to your face, smearing your cheek with her blood.Â
âR-ru-un.â She coughs up more red, darker, thicker. You sob as you attempt again to staunch the bleeding. It doesnât help, though, bubbling up out of the wound and over your hands to pool on the ground beneath you.Â
âNo, no, please, he promised, he promised heâhe promised,â you babble uselessly as she spasms again and then goes completely still, her eyes locked on the brightening sky above you. âHe promised. Andy, he promised.â You look at Robert as Ireneâs head falls back against the pavement.Â
âI guess thereâs one cherry that Barber didn't pop.â He is on you in an instant, closing the gap between you with a few careful steps. You canât move, though, canât think as his wiry fingers dig into the meat of your shoulder, dragging you to your feet. Irene needs help, she needsâ
âNo, no, I, I have to help her, Iââ Youâre babbling uselessly as he shoves you into the back seat, and when you go for the handles on the doors, nothing happens. âLet meâlet me out! No, no, he promised, andââ Pronge ignores your wailing, sliding in behind the wheel and starting the car. If anything, heâs enjoying it, grinning as you sob and beat against the windows with bloodstained hands. You cry and scream until your throat is raw, watching her body disappear, eaten by the cityscape as you move away through it.Â
After a while, you curl in on yourself, wrapping your arms around your knees and laying down on the cool, clean leather.Â
He promised.Â

stuck in your web ââ jake sim ⥠spiderman au
â
wc 1.3k warnings none note @soobnny u inspired me to write this while i was on the plane iâm actually insane my brain is rotting w spidey bf jake (proofread but idk if there r any mistakes rip sry pookies)
Not even your blankets could stave off the whisper of cold wind that followed Jake in through the window, a chill that was just as quickly chased away by his embrace. He slid in beneath your comforter, a drawn out sigh leaving his lips, one of which you learned as you turned around, was split and crusted with blood. Your hand found his cheek in the darkness, the other reaching out blindly for the light switch.
âNo, donât,â he grumbled halfheartedly, pressing his forehead between your shoulder blades in a lazy attempt to hide the lasting damage of his latest fight.
Your fingers closed the switch and you turned your bedside lamp on despite his protests, propping yourself up on your elbow to better survey his injuries. Jake had made a terrible habit of assuming that slipping into your bed and just having you in his arms would solve all his problems, emotional and physical. As much as you despised the fact, that wasnât true.
âLet me clean you up?â
You asked softly, brushing his bangs away from his face lazily, wincing as you felt his ordinarily soft hair crusted with somethingâ blood, or dirt, you werenât sure. In times like this, it felt like there wasnât much you could offer Jake, and an inescapable feeling of helplessness swelled and formed a lump in your throat. Heâd reassured you time and time again that your company was enough, but you figured the least you could do was clean him up to the best of your ability.
âNo, letâs just go to sleep, Iâll do it tomorrow,â Jake mumbled, his eyebrows furrowed cutely and his words muffled by the soft cotton of your pillow.
You rolled your eyes, and gathered the motivation to slip out of bedâ Jake let you go without any coherent protest, and you padded into the bathroom. The routine youâd adopted was methodical and you had to admit there was something therapeutic about itâ saline solution, a glass of warm water, a flannel and the Hello Kitty bandaids Jake claimed to hate but never stopped you from putting on the lesser of his injuries. His arms wound around your waist as you perched on the edge of the bed, pulling you close enough that he could rest his cheek against your thigh.
âIâll sleep easy knowing Iâve helped you, even a little,â you hummed quietly, running your hand through his hair, trying not to tug when your fingers caught on whatever it was that had gotten stuck, presumably during his fight.
âYouâre helping me by being a good cushion,â he huffed, his breath fanning warmly across your bare skin and it was almost criminal how endearing he could be without trying.
âJake.â
He sighed dramatically, shuffling to sit up in front of you, still in his spider suitâ the webbed material had become oddly familiar under your fingers and it was with practiced ease that you peeled the suit away from his skin. Your heart was caught in your throat as you revealed planes of tan skin, terrified youâd come across an injury that couldnât be fixed with pinkâpatterned plasters and a gentle kiss. Jake reached for your hands, grabbing your wrist and bringing your trembling hands to his mouth, pressing a gentle kiss to your knuckles.
âIâm fine, reallyâ just a couple scratches.â
His reassurances did wonders to comfort you, and you swallowed down the anxiety in your throat, nodding and offering him a small, sleepy sort of smile. You traced the ridges of his collarbones, your fingers dancing over divots and muscles that contracted instinctively under your gentle touch. Jake slumped, relaxing into your assessment of his injuries, and it gave you a rush like no other knowing you were the only person he trusted with this.
âKeroppi or My Melody?â
You asked, a laugh dancing on your lips in the form of an amused smile as you held up his optionsâ a square plaster with Keroppi depicted on the beach, or My Melody sat with a character you didnât know the name of.
âKeroppi,â Jake murmured after a moment of contemplation, and you averted your attention from his pretty face to focus on peeling the paper backing off the plaster.
There was a cluster of small scratches along his ribs, raw and aggravated, and you frownedâ Jakeâs thumb reached up to push gently at your frown, and you bit the tip of his thumb playfully. He laughed, and the sound of it was the only plaster needed to soothe your worried heart.
âI can barely even feel âem, you donât need to look so worried.â
ââs my job to be worried about you, Jake.â
Jake let out a quiet huff, his bottom lip jutting out in a stupidly kissable pout, âitâs not your job, but itâs one of the many reasons why I love you.â
You were grateful to be sat with your back to the lamp, knowing the blush on your cheeks wouldnât be illuminated.
âI love you too.â
âI know.â
You went through the motions of cleaning the rest of his injuriesâ thankfully, none of them were more than shallow scratches, and some warm water and a cloth had them mostly sorted. His torso was an array of carefully arranged Hello Kitty plasters, at least twelve pastel coloured, cartoon faces staring up at you with unseeing eyes. The only injury you hadnât dealt with was his split lip, and Jake frowned when he realised youâd insist on cleaning that too.
âYnnie, canât you just kiss that one better?â
He pleaded, looking up at you through his lashes with the puppyâdog eyes that ordinarily would entice you into folding to his whims. You shook your head, placing your palms against his cheeks and squishing gently, forcing his lips into a pout. You leaned forward and kissed him softly, allowing the tension to bleed out of your rigid shoulders once youâd seen for yourself that he was truly okay.
âI canât kiss it better, but I can kiss you anyway,â you murmured against his lips, pressing another chaste kiss against them before you pulled away, the warm, damp cloth in hand.
You cleaned the small cut as carefully as possibly, and if a minute or so of that time had been spent admiring the slope of his cupids bow or the criminally enticing pink of his lips, that was between you and God.
âYour pyjamas are in the wardrobe,â you prompted himâ they were technically yours, but they had become a staple of Jakeâs postâfight routine.
He rolled out of your bed still pouting, nearly taking your duvet with him before you tugged it back, hiding a giggle behind your arm. Jake threw his spider suit into the depths of your closet with the internal promise to grab it when he woke up, and suited up instead in fluffy Cookie Monster pyjama bottoms and a shirt he was sure had once been his. When Jake crawled back into your bed, he flopped onto your chest with no regard for your need to breathe.
âIf college doesnât work out, I donât see why you couldnât pursue a career as a mattress,â he mumbled, situating his cheek against your chest and ensuring he could feel the steady pound of your heart against his ear, âactually, thatâs a terrible ideaâ I think if you ever let anyone else lay on you like this, I think Iâd throw up.â
You let out a huff of laughter, your hands tangling in his hair like they belonged there, your eyes crinkled in amusement. Jakeâs weight was familiar, and you relaxed under him, fumbling blindly for the duvet to pull it over both your bodies.
âNot a career path âm considering, so you have nothing to worry about,â you whispered against the top of his head, your statement punctuated by an unfairly soft kiss. Jake propped his chin up on your sternum, looking up at you expectantly.
âGoodnight kiss?â
You rolled your eyes in feigned exasperation, and leaned forward enough that your lips met in a sweet kiss, though you were mindful of the split that would take at least a few hours to scab over.
âYouâre such a baby.â
âYour baby.â
âYeah, mine.â

Carmen had never felt true love before. He didnât think heâd ever know what that felt like. Heâd heard stories of parents meeting their newborn babies for the first time, saying that âit was an indescribable feeling of holding the entire world in the palm of your hands.â And that to him, sounded like bullshit.Â
It was sweet and all, but considering the way his mother and father treated he and his siblings growing up- that moment was fleeting at the very least.Â
That was what heâd thought, until that is- he got the call that would change his life, forever.Â
Sugar and Pete had kept the gender of their baby a secret, Carmy was very excited for them, and though Pete wasnât his favorite person- he knew in his heart heâd be a great dad. Better then he could ever do at least, so that had eased his mind for the new blood of his family.Â
Pete had called to inform him that Sugar had given birth, finally, he thought to himself. He didnât realize that the labor process could take days. Sugar had went into the hospital on Tuesday, in the early afternoon when her water had broken- it was now 4 pm Thursday evening. It was about time for the kid to make an appearance.Â
Heâd made his way down to the hospital right away, no questions asked. It was Sugar after all, and after Pete had told him she wasnât having any visitors, but had requested that he specifically come see her- he wasnât gonna let her down.Â
Heâd even stopped at the 24-hour deli convenience store on the way, getting her a club sandwich that sheâd been moaning about not being able to have for months - something about pregnant people not being allowed to have lunch meat? He wasnât sure what that was about.Â
When he got in the room, it was so quiet, he could hear his heart thumping in his ears. He wasnât sure why he was nervous- itâs not like the kid was gonna have an opinion on himâŚyet. But still, he knew first impressions were important. He also didnât want to fuck anything up, he wasnât very sure how to hold a baby- heâd never held Eva when she was young, and he heard babies necks were super floppy, so he was really nervous heâd hurt them by mistake.
âHey..â he said softly, and Sugar sits up. She looked utterly exhausted, she was pale, her hair was knotted and sweaty all stuck to her forehead, and her eyes were bloodshot from either pain or being so tired, he wasnât sure which.Â
âBear! You came!â She said quietly, opening her arms for a hug. He walks over to her, carefully wrapping his arms around her as he wasnât sure if her stomach would be hurting or not, and kissing her cheek lovingly.Â
âYâre amazing Sugar, you did so good, thats fuckinâ crazy- you had a baby, Sugâ he tells her, rubbing her arm gently. Carmen didnât know much about pregnancy and birth, other than what heâd learned from Sugar over the past year or so. The only thing he really knew about the birthing process was what heâd seen on TV, and the fact that birth hurt like an absolute bitch, and that there was no way around it.Â
âThank youâŚis that-â she asked, picking up the bag heâd placed next to her on the bed. He smiled a bit, pulling the sandwich out.Â
âClub sandwich. Donât say I never listen to youâ he teased and she pouted, tears filling her eyes and she pulled him into another hug.Â
âYâre the best Bear.â She said. âSorryâŚIâm gonna be hormonal for like..another yearâ she laughed a bit.Â
He chuckled softly, rubbing her back. âIâm used to it by now.â He teased.Â
The door opened, and a nurse wheeled in a bundle of white striped blankets in to the room, lying in a bassinet.Â
âOh! Uncle is here! Okay so baby did great, theyâre all set. We got all the bloodwork we needed, took their k shot, everything is looking wonderful. Iâll let you get acquaintedâ she said, being sure not to give away the babyâs name or gender before they were ready, leaving the little bundle next to Sugars bedside before heading out and closing the door quietly behind her.Â
The baby coos, making sweet adorable little noises. Carmen took the bag of food for Sugar, placing it on her bedside table as she carefully picked up her baby, cradling them in her arms.Â
Carmen was in awe. Everything about them was soâŚtiny. So pure, so untouched by the world. He carefully nudged the blanket down so he could get a better view of their face, the babies teeny little hand peeking out. He couldnât help the small gasp that escaped his lips as the babe curled their whole hand around his forefinger.Â
âSugâ he whispered, tears pooling in his eyes and falling to his cheeks before he could try and hold them back. âOh godâŚâ he said softly, stroking the baby's tiny fingers with his thumb.Â
âMichael Anthony Lombardiâ she said softly. He looks up at her, jaw dropped.Â
It was totally something sugar would do, so sentimental. Naming her first son after her 2 brothers. But now, Carmen felt even more attached to the little guy. He was carrying his name- he had to take care of him, protect him, the same way Michael had done for him.Â
Carmen sniffles, kissing her head and resting his cheek on top of it as he looks down at the beautiful little baby. Well- maybe not beautiful physically- yet. Carmen always thought brand new babies looked fairly weird, of course heâd never tell Sugar that, though.Â
But, beautiful in the sense that he knew what this baby meant for them, for their family. It was a brand new beginning, and maybe- just maybeâŚthis would be enough to get his mother to clean up her act enough to be the grandmother for this baby how she couldnât be a mother to he and his siblings. âNice to meet you, Mikeyâ he said with the kind of smile that made his eyes crinkle, vision blurry with tears.
It had been about 6 months since you and Carm had met, and one of the things you loved about him was what an active, engaged uncle he was with his little nephew, Michael.Â
Heâd grown plenty now since the first time he and the little cub met, being âa whole hand and a thumbâ as Mikey proudly told you the time youâd met the little firecracker at the first family dinner youâd attended.Â
That little boy was Carmyâs sun, moon, and all of his stars. He was constantly spoiling him with new toys, clothes, taking him out for âMikey and Bearâ days, the kid was the lockscreen on his phone for crying out loud. If you werenât dating him, with the way he talks about that boy- youâd think he was a single dad.Â
Sugar very much appreciated it though, she never wanted to stop working when sheâd gotten pregnant, so being able to balance four different days off with 3 adults, rather than just split the duties between her and Pete- it helped their lives as a couple run a lot smoother overall.Â
It took a while for Carmy to even introduce you to Mikey. Heâd been nervous, reverting to his old ways of âwaiting for the other shoe to dropâ and nothing would crush him more, then introducing his favorite little guy to someone, getting him used to them, and then them leaving him.
He could handle that rejection- but he damn sure wasnât gonna subject Mikey to that same pain. If there was one thing Carmen swore, it was to protect the child with everything he had.Â
This was the third time youâd be meeting Mikey. Carmy had asked if you wanted to take him to the park together for a picnic after heâd picked him up from school, and of course you agreed. There was no better way to spend the afternoon than sharing snacks with your Bear under the shade of oak trees from the late spring sun, and chasing around Sugars mini-me until he clonked out on the blanket for a nap.Â
When youâd arrived to the park to meet them, you spotted Carmâs large black blanket with his backpack and 2 matching big and small Nalgene water bottles, adorned with stickers from different water parks and amusement parks theyâd been to together, but he nor Mikey were nowhere to be seen. But you couldnât miss them with how loud Mikey was being.Â
âNo! No! I call foul!!â Carm laughed boisterously. You continue on, seeing them come in to view past the blockade of a large tree- to find Carmy rolling in the grass as Mikey tackled him for the football he was holding.Â
âThe Cub takes down The Bear at the 20 yard lineee!!â Mikey shouts ferociously, jumping up and pouncing on Carmys chest in a bodyslam.Â
Carm groans, âOhhh you little cheater- when did we start wrestling?! They donât do bodyslams in football, kidâ he wraps his arms around Mikey, caging him in and tickling his sides, causing him to squeal and laugh wildly.
âWow! Uncle Bear has been lacking at the gym, thanks for takinâ care of my light stuff Mikeyâ you said teasingly with a big smile.Â
Mikey quickly got up, running over to you âBlossom!!!â he squealed, crashing into your waist, nearly knocking you over in the process. Blossom had become your nickname in the family, since the first time theyâd met you, Carm insisted youâd smelt like cherry blossoms, to which Sugar and Richie agreed, so from then on- you were Blossom.Â
âWoah! Kid youâre getting strong huh? Peewee football training been gettin intense?â You give him a big hug.Â
Carm chuckled, getting up and dusting the grass and leaves from his hair and shirt, coming over and greeting you with a peck on the lips. âTell me âbout it- Thanks for meeting me, kids got crazy energy today.â He said, ruffling the boys curly soft brown hair lovingly.Â
âNowww can we eat our lunch?â Mikey looked up at him, his pretty blue eyes sparkling in the afternoon light. He really did look like Mikey, and Carmy mixed together in the best way. The Berzatto family genes were mighty strong, at least on the menâs side.Â
âYes Cub. YâknowâŚyou scammed me into a happy meal before we got here, how can you be so starved?â He teased, causing you to giggle.Â
âAgain? Wow Carm, youâre going softer and softer as the days go byâ you teased, sitting down with he and Mikey on the comfortable blanket under the shade of the trees.
âWell itâs hard to tell him no. Did you know he got a 100% on his spelling test tâday? Mikey, tell Blossom how to spell âwaterâ â he told him with a grin.Â
Mikey looks over proudly âw-a-tâŚâ he stops for a moment, looking at Carmy nervously.Â
âYou got it bud, keep goinâ- sound it out, whatâs next?â Carmy encourages gently.Â
âE! It's E! w-a-t-e-r!â Mikey finishes proudly and you both clap for him excitedly.Â
âOh my goodness! You are such a smart boy. Good job Mikey!â You gush, giving him a high five.Â
âThatâs right the smartest. First spelling test of the year, and you nailed it bud!!â Carmy praised, hugging him and kissing his head sweetly.Â
âMommyâs gonna be so excited!â He said, sitting crisscross as he opened up his pb&j Carm packed for him.Â
âSheâs gonna be stoked, Cub. Absolutely stokedâ you told him, taking the sandwich Carm had offered you.Â
âOh! Blossom I learned a new joke- listen, so you say whoâs there when I say âknock knockâ got it?â Mikey asks and you nod with a smile.Â
âAlright, thank you for my lines ahead of time, Cubâ you joked, earning a chuckle out of Carmen who had surely heard this joke one million times since heâd learned it, considering he saw the kid no less then 5 days a week.Â
âKnock knock!â Mikey said, looking at you expectantly.Â
âIâm doing the dishesâ you said, causing Mikey to burst into adorable giggles and Carm to follow suit since he couldnât help himself when Mikey got started.Â
âNooo! Blossom!â He giggled âyou say âwhoâs thereâ this time, ok?â He said and you nod.Â
âOkay, okay. Iâll make sure to be not so busy this time.â You teased with a giggle.Â
âKnock knooock!â He said again.Â
âHold on just a second! I need to feed mister mittens- my cat!â You said and he laughs again, shaking his head.Â
âYou promised! Blossom! Itâs âwhoâs there!â â he giggled.Â
âOkayyy! Okay! Whoooos there?â You oblige.Â
âHarry!!!â He said happily, popping a grape in his mouth.Â
âI donât know a Harry- so scram!â You teased and he laughed so hard he snorted, causing you and Carmy to crack up in a fit of laughs together.Â
âYouâre bad at jokes Blossom, here watch, Bear will do it right fâme. Bear, knock knockâ he looks over at Carm.Â
âWhoâs there, Cub?â He said, taking a bite of his own sandwich.Â
âHarryâ he smiled big, âlisten blossomâ Mikey urges, causing you to giggle.Â
âHarry whoâ Carm said with a large grin. âHarry up and open the door itâs raining out here!!!â Mikey said, bursting in to a fit of giggles which of course caused you and Carm to join.
âReady or not here I come!â You hear Carmy say. You hold your finger to your lips, holding Mikey tightly in your lap in the tube slide so you both wonât fall and give up your ingenious hiding spot the two of you had come up with.
âShhh! We gotta be quiet Cub or heâs gonna find us- the bear will eat you!â you joked and he covered his mouth quickly to contain his giggles.
âWhere are youuuu!â Carmy called from the other side of the playground, you giggled quietly to yourself.Â
âWe picked a good spot bud!â you whisper proudly and he nods, hugging your arm sweetly. Leg suddenly cramps up from being in such an awkward position in a tube meant for children much shorter then you, and you gasp quietly, moving your foot to relieve it but in the struggle- your flip-flop slips off, sliding down the tube slide and you hear it thump on the ground below, blowing up your hiding spot.Â
You and Mikey look at eachother as you hear Carm laugh, âOhhhh! Dead!! Youâre both dead!â he said and you quickly lift Mikey behind you.Â
âGo Mikey! Save yourself heâs gonna eat you!!!â you laugh and he scrambles out of the tube as Carm climbs up from the bottom, grabbing your bare foot.
You squeal in laughter as he pulls you down the slide by your feet, catching you at the bottom and kissing all over your face and neck, nibbling as he goes. âYouâve been caughtâ he growls playfully, pinning your arms above your head and kissing where your shirt rode up over your stomach leaving playful lovebites on your hips.
âHey!â Mikey yells, running up and hugging Carms leg, hanging on it like a little monkey. âThats my best friend! Leave her alone you big grizzly bear!â he yells through his giggles, playfully hitting Carmys leg.
âOhhhh youâre dead Cub, dead meat buddyâ he pulled away from you, scooping Mikey up and swinging him around. âYâthink yâcan just beat up yâre best uncle mm little man?â he holds him upside down by his legs holding him carefully and dangling him in front of your face causing him to laugh wildly. âI present your savior Blossom, heâs been defeatedâ he sways him teasingly causing him to laugh more.
âOh noooo! Cub! The Bear got you! I forgot to tell youâŚ.he and I were working together in secret- mwahaha!!â you laugh evilly, tickling his exposed belly and he wiggles screeching in laughter.
âNot fair- Not fair!!!â he said between giggles. Carm carefully laid him on your lap so he wouldnât get sick from being upside down and checks his watch for the time.
âAlright- we got 15 minutes, do we want swings, slide, or playing a game?â Carmy asked, causing Mikey to whine.Â
âNoooo! Bear! Itâs not time yet!!! Itâs not even darkâ he pouted, pointing at the sun, causing Carm to smile.Â
âYâre right, its not dark, but beinâ a big man in kindergarten means you got big man responsibilities now, like goinâ home and doinâ homework wâDad yeah? Heâs gonna be waitinâ on you, Dadâs not a man I can reason with mâfriend, Higher rank on the totemâ he ruffled his hair.Â
âFiiiineâ Mikey grumbled. âI wanna do swings, race me-â he jumps up from your lap, sprinting towards the swingset.
âWha- hey! Youâre supposed to say 1,2,3, go! Those are the rules cheater!â Carmy laughs as he jogs after him. You slipped on your flipflop, going after the two boys.
âI beat you! See Blossom my new shoes make me so fast!â Mikey called to you proudly, hopping up and sitting in the swing as Carmy finally caught up.
âI did! Super fast Mikey!â you agreed with a giggle making your way up to the swingset.Â
âOh! Oh! Blossom, letâs see who can get higher!â Mikey said happily and you oblige, sitting on the swing next to him.
âAlright, Bear- youâre the judge I guessâ you smiled, starting to pump your legs.
âIâm a tough critic, I expect perfect form outta youâ he teased, sitting down on the picnic table in front of the swingset as he watched.Â
âIâm gonna winâ Mikey said confidently, already getting a few feet higher then you had.Â
You giggled, âYeah- cause you had a head startâ you counter, pumping your legs harder trying to gain more momentum.
âItâs lookinâ good for Mikey babe, keep it up kid yâre doinâ greatâ Carm encouraged, resting his hands behind his head and stretching his legs out as he watched.Â
âBear can I jump off and you catch me?â Mikey asked hopefully to which Carmen laughs.
âNoooo way kiddo, Iâm not takinâ a trip to the ER tânight, I got work in the morning and either iâll end up hurt, or yâmother will kill meâ he said, causing you to laugh as well.
âYouâre gonna break your neck kid, donât do that at school, did that once as a kid and I broke my ankleâ you giggled, gasping as your flipflop flew off once again and hit Carmen right over the top of the head, causing you and Mikey to burst out in a fit of giggles.
âHey!â Carm said, rubbing his head jokingly with a chuckle.âThose things are proving to be a horrible choice of park footwear, babyâ he snorts, setting the shoe next to him on the bench for when you got off.
âIâm sorry! My work shoes were a worse choice and these are all I had in my lockerâ you giggled, the wind whipping your hair as you get higher and higher in the air.
âBear! Bear! Look how high I am!!!â Mikey said proudly to which Carm nods with a big grin.
âThatâs right bud! Yâre so high right now, bet you could touch an airplane if it was flyinâ over huh?â he said, digging his phone out of his pocket to take a video. âSay hi to Mommy!â he said and Mikey laughed happily, waving at Carm.
âHiiii Mommy! I love you!â he said sweetly with a giggle. âAm I beating Blossom? Huh Bear? Am I higher?â he said and Carm chuckled.
âMhmm- sorry baby, I think Mikey has ya beat this time around,â he said, ending the video and slipping his phone back in his pocket.
âWell how could I beat the best huh?â you mused, stopping pumping your legs so your swing would slow.Â
âI told you!â Mikey giggled, digging his heels into the woodchips to come to a hard stop and running up to Carmy, giving him a big hug. âCan we get ice cream bear?â he asked and Carm laughed, shaking his head.
âYou donât stop, huh kiddo? No ice cream, Itâll spoil yâr dinner. How âbout, if yâreally good at school this week- When I get you on Friday, weâll go you ân me yeah?â he pats his back and Mikey nods with a pout.
âPinky promiseâ He holds up his pinky and Carmy hooks his own around it, kissing Mikeys hand, and Mikey kisses his.Â
âSee? Dealâ he ruffled his brunette curls and got up, grabbing the flip flop and coming up to you, crouching down grabbing your leg and kissing down your calf causing you to giggle before he carefully put the flip flop on your foot.
âI want a piggyback!â Mikey said, jumping on Carmys back to which he caught his balance with his forearm.
âWoah! Okay! Alright piggyback it is bud but yâgotta tell me yeah? We donât want anyone gettinâ hurtâ he told him, hiking him up on his waist as he stood up, Mikey wrapping his arms around his neck securely.
âOk Iâll tell you next timeâ he replied. You hopped off the swing, taking Carmyâs hand and interlacing your fingers as you walked, swinging your hands together happily. The weather was absolutely perfect today. Not a cloud in the sky, perfect humidity, 72 degrees, you were surprised there werenât more people here at the park other than the fact it was a Wednesday afternoon.
The three of you made your way back over to the blanket, and Carmy gently sets Mikey down to fold it up and pack up his backpack with the remainder of the food we couldnât finish. âBlossom look! Look! I can jump so high in my new shoes!â Mikey said, tugging your pants to look at him and you obliged, keeping him busy as Carm tried to get everything situated to pack into the car.Â
âAlright little jumping bean, time to go home dâyou wanna race to the car, or Iâll carry you?â He asked, putting on his backpack and carrying Mikeys for him.
âRace- 123go!â Mikey said quickly before taking off and you laughed. Carm shakes his head with a smile, holding your hand as you both walked after him to the car.Â
The ride back was full of laughter and singing Bluey songs, of course. That was Mikeyâs favorite show at the moment, and you couldnât help but smile at the way Carmy sang with Mikey along to every word. Carmy had even gotten a little Bluey air freshener that hung on his rearview mirror, just another little piece of Mikey that hung around, alongside his carseat that permanently lived in the back, the polaroid of him, sugar, and Mikey on his dash, the many toys scattered along the backseat. It was more than clear that the little guy held his entire heart in the palms of his hands.Â
âAlright buckarooâ Carmy said as he pulls into sugars driveway. Mikey unbuckles himself, flinging forward and wrapping you into a hug.Â
âBye awesome blossom, thanks for playing with meâ he said sweetly. You smiled, ruffling his hair and wrapping your arms around him.
âWeâll do it again soon, bud. Be good yeah? Listen tâyour mommaâ You told him, patting his back. Carmy got out, grabbing his bluey backpack for him, helping him out of the car and carrying him up the steps, opening up the door and heading in to drop him off.
You opened up the center console, digging out Carmâs cigarettes and a lighter, knowing he was gonna be craving one bad when he got back in the car. Sugar didnât even have to ask, as soon as the baby was born- if he was gonna be around the baby he wasnât smoking until after heâd left, so there was absolutely no chance of any secondhand smoke being passed on to him.
Cracking the window, you lit it, taking a drag as he shuts the door behind him and comes back to the car. You offered the cigarette between your fingers and he smiled, taking it after he buckled his seatbelt. âHave I reminded you today, how much I love you my perfect angelâ He leaned in, giving you a sweet lingering kiss on the lips.Â
You smiled, humming softly at the sweet gesture. âYes- well- not in person today, but, you did text me - good morning, I love you when you went to work, so that countsâ he smiled as he took a drag, backing out of the driveway carefully.Â
âWell, I love you baby, What are we doinâ fâr dinner? Am I cookinâ er we goin out?â he cracks his window, ashing his cigarette before having another drag, resting his tattooed hand on your thigh, stroking gently as he drove.
âIâm in the mood for some Berzatto Family Pastaâ you hum, resting your hand out the window to feel the cool kiss of the spring evening breeze. âFamily pasta it is, Blossomâ
