would you recommend ace attorney
Yes, definitely, absolutely
Some out of context screenshots from the original trilogy
#but to answer honestly. I do recommend it. all first 3 games (I haven't had the time to play the rest so I can't say anything about them)#but ace attorney is a visual novel game. technically 'only dialogue' and that isn't everyones cup of tea#it's very funny tho. and the characters are very likable. the plot is nice (although some parts can get a bit repetitive)#but yes. do give it a try. it's more about the plot than the gameplay if that makes sense#one of my favorite games of all time honestly. give ghost trick a try too if you want. it's very good as well#I guess you should try to go in the games 'blind'. no spoilers. but whatever you want#ace attorney#not art#if you do end up playing it (or watching the gameplay on YouTube idk) feel free to tell me if you liked it :)#I feel like I'm the least qualified person to ask for any kind of recommendation but then I remembered what some of my friends recommend me#to watch/play and I feel better about my taste in media#even if you don't like the game I really recommend you listen the the soundtrack of the great ace attorney

why you should play elder scrolls online in 2023
Okay, I've been considering making posts about "why to play X game I love" but finally decided "what the hell, no time like the present." And since ESO is on my mind today, it gets first dibs!
What is ESO??
It's an MMO set in the Elder Scrolls universe - think Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, etc. It's the Elder Scrolls theme park in the same way that FFXIV is the Final Fantasy theme park. But, in the same way, it's not exclusively for people who have experience with the previous games - it's a fun, immersive fantasy world whether you know anything about previous lore or not.
You should play ESO if ...
You like immersive fantasy worldbuilding. Listen, if there's one thing the Elder Scrolls team can do, it's worldbuild like motherfuckers. Do you want a story that reaches back thousands of years and covers dozens of countries/empires/territories, where you can find lorebooks around every corner, and expansive essays on the internet about the briefest of details? ESO has you covered.
You love overland exploration. This is ESO's bread and butter. The explorable areas are expansive and varied and absolutely gorgeous, and the game is built for the player who just wants to travel and collect things and see the sights. Tamriel has pretty much every biome you can imagine - you want medieval Britain? Head for High Isle! You want an Arabic-style desert? Alik'r Desert is your place! Rugged arctic landscape? Listen, there are FOUR SEPARATE Skyrim areas for you. You're like "I just want weird fantasy things that don't look like anywhere on earth?" Vvardenfell and its surrounding areas have you covered. You can explore as you play the story, you can go on a hunt for the perfect screenshot location, you can find an RP location that fits your character exactly, you can make it your goal to complete every exploration achievement in the game ... you can do it all.
You want a game where exploration isn't gated behind your level. ESO made the switch to what they call "One Tamriel" fairly early in their development cycle - this means that all mobs and quests are synced to your level in the overworld, and you can start or go anywhere you want no matter how low level you are. You can play through the storyline in release order, or you can say "I want to start in the newest expansion," or you can go "listen I'm only here for vampires in Western Skyrim," all of these are valid and possible ways of playing. You don't have to go "man the new expansion looks great but I have to put in HOW many hours to get there??" It's all available to you from level 1!
You love decorating houses. Listen, if there is one thing ESO does better than any other MMO (at least the ones I've played), it's the housing system. You can own ALL THE HOUSES. SO MANY HOUSES. Small and large and every conceivable style! You can buy land with no house on it, and build your own structures! You can decorate without having to learn how to glitch or press six buttons at once! And housing feeds very well into the rest of the gameplay - you earn furnishing plans from pretty much every conceivable gameplay system, so it becomes an excellent reason to go do your daily stuff and explore. And the housing community in ESO is one of the most creative groups I've ever seen, I could watch their YouTube videos and streams forever.
You like MMOs that allow you to play mostly solo. None of the story progression is gated behind the need to group up. There is plenty of group content, but it's all optional. There are bosses across the landscape and in public dungeons that require multiple people to kill, but you'll always come across people who want to help kill them without having to group up. And with the last few expansions, you now have companions - NPCs you can unlock and have follow you around everywhere. They can be set and geared to perform any role - tank, healer, DPS - and the AI is good enough at any of those to get you through pretty much anything overland you want to do. (And as a side note, some of the companion quests are really good, and they've been getting really, really good voice actors for the companions themselves - see: Laura Bailey, Brandon Keener - and they have fun dialogue as you wander.)
A couple of caveats:
If you play for story, your mileage will vary. Don't get me wrong, ESO has some very, very good stories within it! But it's not a linear story a la FFXIV or single player MMOs - it has a main storyline for the base game zones, and each DLC/expansion has its own storyline that sometimes connects into what happened in the base game, but for the most part ESO's story is a fragmented experience, and you have to go searching for the stories that connect most with you. Can you find them? Yes, but be ready to put in the time to look. (My personal recommendations? The vampire story that starts in Rivenspire and continues in Western Skyrim and The Reach is my absolute favorite; Elsweyr is also very good, but is more of a direct continuation of the base game story than anything else, so would probably need that context going in. A good portion of the fanbase will cite the larger Morrowind-Summerset storyline as the best the game has, and it's very good, but didn't quite stick with me as much as the others mentioned.) ESO tends to be more about the story of the world at large than about the stories of individual characters.
And speaking of story, the game is absolute balls at directing you to places where starting the story would make the most sense. If you want to experience the story in a vaguely linear fashion, here's what to do when you create a character - immediately head to whatever city is your chosen faction's starting city (Daggerfall, Auridon, or Stonefalls), and wander around until you trigger the "Soul Shriven in Coldharbor" quest. That starts the base game main story, and is the best place to start as a brand new player. The other tip: the fancy striped quest markers are indicative of the "main" story quest in each zone, do those when at all possible.
And speaking of factions, those only matter if you want to play PvP - and only Cyrodiil and Imperial City PvP at that. Otherwise, it's just flavor these days.
In conclusion:
ESO is my comfort "explore and collect" game - I find it very chill to just wander around, level new characters, dig up antiquities (ANTIQUITIES, my favorite side system, seriously I could look for leads and dig things up forever), collect materials to sell in my guild trader, and vaguely achievement hunt while listening to music or YouTube. The scenery is beautiful, the character creation is robust and turns out very cool looking characters, and the combat system is simple enough that I easily remember how to do things even if I've been away for a little while. And it is free-to-play, after buying the game; you don't need a subscription to access anything you've purchased, you just miss out on a few good quality of life features. (The craft bag, I could not live without my craft bag, seriously.)
Some version of ESO will be free on the Epic Game store starting tomorrow - my assumption is that it will be the version that contains all DLC/expansions except the Necrom chapter, which was just released last month. I highly recommend picking it up if you play on PC, just to check it out, if anything above sounds appealing to you! (And if you want to splurge, I can very highly recommend Necrom - the new class it introduces is maybe my favorite class to play yet, the two companions it introduces are fantastic, and Apocrypha is a fascinating area to explore if you like creepy eldritch horror type stuff.)
If you want to know more about ESO, just give me a shout! And if you're a mutual who decides to try it, hit me up, I have many gifts to give people!

A little more beta stuff was leaked recently- this time focusing on Legends Arceus and Scarlet and Violet.
So first off, I won't link anything outright to my blog just in case. Find it on Twitter, YouTube, or Reddit.
Second, there's nothing about beta Pokemon so far- and I kind of doubt there will be in the files given the games were rushed to a degree. But it is strange, both have elements in them that could have changed the final games a bit- probably Arceus moreso, as SV's is more on the graphics side.
Third, i am not a leaker nor do i personally have access to the builds- this is strictly commentary on *videos* you can easily find yourself. This is simply just thoughts I have- some may agree or disagree, I'm not arguing.
That out of the way: Legends Arceus
So first of all, we finally have confirmation that the modern bedroom found in LA's game files (as in the final distributed product) was indeed a remnant of what would have been before the official beginning we got. There were storyboards with it that depict the player watching a professor give their "Welcome to the World of Pokemon" speech, then it zooms out to reveal the player was playing a game on TV, they take a break to scroll on their phone, then digital shenanigans happen on the phone and the player gets sucked into a whole in reality.
This is old news to some- but there's also unfinished animation that depict this, basically only modeling the player and the tv- the rest is grey. It seems to be an idea they were serious about, but decided to cut it- I think it's for the best tbh. I never have liked GF's "kids and their smart phones" rhetoric and this made it seek like we'd rather be on our phones instead of playing the game.
Onto gameplay, there's footage of beta Hikari (has a headband instead of the bandana) and a Unovan Zoroark running and JUMPING around in the field. They battle with a Luxray in what appears to be auto battling with some limited commands from the trainer. This actually validates certain leaks for Legends Arceus and perhaps maybe even pre SwSh? Anyway, they claimed GF were debating intensely on a new battling system, and I believe one even compared it to Digimon World Next Order- this certainly matches the description, imo, but definitely dumbed down and in early phases. These rumors would persist a while during LA's marketing phase, so the decision to change to the system we have must have been last minute.
On a personal note, I know there are a lot of fans that are tired of the turn based battling system, but I'm personally glad we didn't go down the road of auto battling. It looked awkward to watch, and also it would make catching pokemon hell because there'd be a chance to knock it out when it's in the red. It does need work for sure- but I would argue it just needs work on an animation, camera, and overall aesthetic angle rather than try to fully shift things to a new system you know they wouldn't get right for a long time.
Back to the facts- there also appears to be a very early and very janky ability for the player to ride their Zoroark? I think? At the least, although both models are running on top of each other (developer beta, keep in mind), the player DOES seem on top of Zoroark, who does seem to gain a massive boost of speed in response.
Side note- this does harken to the supposedly canceled game: Pokemon Rodeo, where you ride Pokemon around. I believe footage showed the area where Scyther hang out in LA, and the project had been worked on since 2019. Perhaps they wanted to try to implement it in LA, but they scrapped the idea for accessibility via the ride system.
It's also clear they wanted to do something with Zoroark all the way back here- they weren't kidding when they said Arceus would be a very experimental game, it seems.
Onto the next game: Scarlet and Violet.
Scarlet and Violet beta footage doesn't really glean much other than a similar build of the final product (and let's not kid ourselves, the game is clearly unfinished). However, there is 1 unused music track, I think, towards the beginning of the game.
There's also a much different LIGHTING and SHADOW system compared to what we got in the end. It honestly looks way better than the final product, and it meshes with the environments WAY better imo. Most likely it was changed to the inferior one for performance purposes, as the game did somehow run slower than before (in an emulator, but still).
Personal take- I know some people's gut reaction is to immediately blame the Switch for being "under powered," but do keep in mind it could handle BoTW, ToTK, Xenoblades 1, 2, and 3, and more while still handling pretty decent shading. It is curious, however, that ported games such as Red Dead Redemption or Fate/Samurai Remnant might have some issues in a similar manner (there are some leaks of pc versions of some of these games being leaked, but they require very specific pc builds that would make them harder or impossible to run on much besides dev kit or Switch hardware). I don't know if this would be an issue with creating with the Switch 2 dev kit and having to downgrade- we know that from other leaks, GF had been experimenting with improved performance on Switch 2 dev kits as of one of the earliest Indigo Disk leaks- circa Dec 2022 or early 23. However, I don't think they had the kit during early SV's development, as it started in 2019 or so after SwSh ended development, and the Switch would only be 2 years old at the time- I think this is simply poor management and direction from people TRYING to get that BoTW look, but not wanting to update their tech or habits to properly accommodate it and not wanting to take their time with it. I think we all understand there was just a maelstrom of things going wrong for SV's development from the Pandemic, to trying to follow their same flawed release cycle, bad management, etc. It's a tired topic at the least.
As far as other things in the actual build, there does appear to be a... well, honestly? BETTER pop up menu for the bag and menu. It's stylized in a pretty unique way that feels nice and organic to the game vs the final product. The bag menu sort of overlays to the regular game like the finalized start menu does, but cleaner.
I can only guess this was changed because it affected performance somehow- perhaps related to the game's strange habit of being lit up when the battle menu appears in the final product, or maybe just another slow down like usual. It's too bad, it looks really good.
Between the bag and the lighting system, I hope both come back for gen 10. There's serious promise behind both.
As for anything else worth noting- like the LA beta, the SV beta has a lot of unfinished areas, nothing really worth noting on that angle.
But picnics- those loaded way quicker before, despite the game running slower on emulator. And sandwiches? Well, they were planned back then, too. It does appear to be an earlier build, as the guy was somehow tossing eggs from UNDER the sandwich to the bun, and underhand throwing the top bun on top instead of the finalized orbital drop method we have for both.
The only other things worth noting is that the player had a Lucario and Staraptor on their team (the Lucario is interesting considering Unovan Zoroark was in the Beta LA build). However the menu displays other things instead, such as Charizard (of fucking course), Poliwrath (not available in game until Teal Mask), MUDKIP (wouldn't be added in until ID dropped), and Nidoqueen- who isn't available in the final game AT ALL. Of course, these are just menu sprites and none of these actually appear in the videos- in fact, other than the creepy blacked out Koraidon, Staraptor, Lucario, and I think Staravia flying around, I don't think there was a SINGLE other Pokemon visible in the overworld.
Oh, and it does appear that the initial uniforms were planned very early, as the blacked out model matches the overall shape. Personal note- I hope they got that out of their systems. I hated it so much, and it was probably another time saving measure planned from the beginning.
Final thoughts: it's interesting hoe the beta build seems to be Scarlet- idk if there's one for Violet specifically, but looking on it, a lot makes more sense from a Paradox design and story angle if you just assume Scarlet is the canon game. It's easy to think of how a Great Tusk can kill a man in Area Zero 200 years ago, not quite how a robot could- and the final explanation certainly doesn't provide satisfactory explanation as to how it arrived there before the time machine was built.
As for appearance: Some of this makes me remember an official game freak reveal of early SV at Game Freak's CEDEC 2023
And this is officially revealed info. The Snorlax is definitely photoshopped in, but the shading and rock textures look a lot like this beta build. It does look better than the final build, there's no real arguing with that.
Again, I'm hoping whoever in charge thqt needed to learn a few lessons DID, because some devs were clearly TRYING to make some ambitious ideas work but just couldn't on the time alotted or the programs used. I think I heard they wanted to transition to Unity or Unreal for the next games anyway, so maybe programming it will be easier going forward and we can finally achieve these graphics they wanted. Probably not with ZA, but it'd be a nice surprise for Gen 10 or something.
That's all. Have a nice day

From @mrtobenamedlater for the Halo ask game
💕🌌📷
💞 - favourite moment in a game?
From a story-telling, cinematic p.o.v., definitely this one in Halo 4:
Just the bittersweetness of her finally being able to touch him, his confusion, the first time I'd ever heard him stumble over his words, the realization that she wasn't coming back with him, had sacrificed herself to save him... All of it, man. Just right in the heart, oof!
From a gameplay p.o.v., saving 3 Echo 57 on the mission ONI: Sword Base from Halo: Reach. The troop transport Warthog is supposed to explode before you can get to it but there's a way to zoooooooom over there (Acrophobia skull works best) and stun it with a charged-up plasma pistol so it doesn't cross the invisible line where it'll blow up.
Me: This is for your own good, marines. Trust me, you don't want to keep driving that way! *ZZZZZZZAP*
You make the driver get out so you can quickly but carefully drive it out of there, avoiding a few other invisible lines that will ALSO make it blow up. Then you can bring it back, fill it with marines, and take it through almost all of the rest of the mission! I always save my 3 Echo 57 marines if I'm not doing a speedrun or something else that keeps me from doing so! 🤗
(Yeah, it always looks like it's on fire but it's just cosmetic. It has the same health as any other Warthog as far as I can tell. 😎👍 Also, please pardon the ABSOLUTE POTATO QUALITY. I chopped it out of an existing GIF and that did it no favors, eek!)
🌌 - what made you interested in halo?
I've always had an interest in video games but no way to play them, so when Youtube walkthroughs/Let's plays/etc became a thing, I watched a LOT of them. One of them was Halo 4 (where I imprinted on that version of Cortana, lol). Fast-forward many years later to the first commercial I saw for the tv series, thought it sounded interesting, and watched it when it came out. As soon as I did, I seriously WANTED to play at least one of the games. Found the MCC on a rad sale at Steam and decided to see if my old man (previous computer) could play it. He could and the rest, as they say, is history!
📷 - 'aesthetic' photo you associate a halo character with
Hee, thanks so much! 😎👍💖
#halo#halo the series#halo paramount+#halo: reach#if i ain't saving#3 echo 57#then i always come back later and pause at its burned out shell and mentally#press f to pay respects#😜👍#halo ask game#ask game#cortana#mrtobenamedlater#ageless aislynn

Get to Know Me - Sims Edition
i am so late to this but thank you to everyone who tagged and mentioned me!! i loved reading your answers, i love being nosy.
let me get this first q out of the way:
Who's your favourite sim that you've made?
it's a tie between my 2 little meow meows pictured above 🥺
amir because he's the oc i'm most attached to and have most fully developed
vlad because i just love the way his sim turned out and he's such a fun character to think about
if they ever met, vlad would be like "greetings." and amir would be like "bro what the fucckkk" 😭
speaking of vampires i also love the idea of au-vampire-amir being this ashamed, existential crisis having vegetarian vampire who struggles with controlling and hiding his bloodlust.
i never get bored coming up with ideas for those 2.
rest of my answers below the cut :3
What's your favourite Sims death?
it's been YEARS since i intentionally made any of sims die. i barely do gameplay these days and i am attached to the sims i make. but when i used to play sims chaotically, i preferred to "accidentally" murder sims by fire instead of deleting the pool ladder. i would furnish their houses with the cheapest stoves and fireplaces, and sit back and watching the inevitable unfold... it was the final destination fan in me.
Alpha CC or Maxis Match?
i can't live without alpha hair and i love a well done piece of alpha clothing.
Favourite Mod?
CmarNYC morphing penis 😐
for a sfw mod, pose player was truly a game changer, can't play without it.
First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack?
i never bought any of them 💅 the first one i p*rated was late night because umm a fancy city, bars and clubs, celebs and vampires, 2000s hoe clothes... what more could you want!
Do you pronounce live mode or aLIVE or LiVing?
a-live!
Have you made a simself?
no ❤
Which is your favorite EA hair color?
if we're talking about TS4, i think the ginger hair colour is okay and the grey too. for TS3, i don't use any of the default hair colour presets.
Favorite EA hair?
i've tried so hard and i just cannot enjoy any of them compared to the alpha cc hair available. in my opinion this is the least offensive one, the "teddy" from the store:
Favorite life stage?
young adult
Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?
i'm in it for cas and the storytelling medium
Are you a CC creator?
hehe...
Do you have any Simblr friends or a Sim Squad?
i consider all the people i frequently engage with to be my simblr friends!! 💗
Do you have a YouTube for sims?
i've considered recording, editing and uploading speed CAS videos but it seems like a lot of effort 😭
How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?
i've always preferred creating masculine male sims/characters, that hasn't changed throughout the years. i've learned how to take better pictures, how to style my sims better, how to create the kinds of clothes i want to style them in, and i've learned my preferred slider settings and facial features/proportions. i make the same "genre" of male sims over and over and over again, so my style hasn't really changed, but my skills have improved and i've solidified my aesthetic which i am proud of :D
Who's your favourite CC creator?
i really can't pick a favourite because there is just so much sheer talent and a thriving cc community even today, but if i had to pick one, i would say rustynail. i used the shit out of their cc back in the day. everything my sims wore was straight off the runway darling... rusty brought glamour and high fashion to the sims! an inspiration.
How long have you had a simblr?
since even before 2013 😭 tumblr was my main social media for many years LMFAOOOOO and i made a simblr after following many ts3 blogs, being wowed by their screenshots, and i wanted to join in on the fun and wanted to download all the cool cc people were making... that was the start of my ts3 obsession !
How do you edit your pictures?
i use a gshade preset i made, then i mostly just crop and add text in gimp. i don't have the patience to edit my pics.
What expansion/ stuff pack is your favourite?
late night duh and seasons is a close second because it just makes the game so much more immersive and beautiful. pets is also a top one because it adds so much to the game, it's such a well thought out pack in my opinion, and what life simulator can be complete without pets?

You've been streaming for a while now and thought that "Hey, the manifestation of the King in Yellow's fears has to know some stuff." So i am asking you as your Labia Legionnare, do you have any advice, tips, and tricks to streaming?
This might sound cliché but it is true: You have to enjoy streaming to stream. You need to look forward to it, savor it, because you’re going to be there in front of whoever wants to watch for at least some hours. If you don’t enjoy the idea, then you wouldn’t be streaming in the first place.
Now, with the most basic of basics out of the way: Please, for the love of god, interact with your chat. Understand this: The viewers that’ll stay with you are interested in a fun atmosphere, a fun rest of chat, a fun streamer. Nothing kills my interest in a stream faster than a streamer than doesn’t interact. I don’t care if you have to play in a smaller resolution to see chat or something (I do this as a single screen gamer) or if you have to play worse, interact with chat. If I want to watch gameplay, I can just open Youtube. If Im watching a stream, it’s because I want to experience a live player and host.
Be consistent but don’t overdo it. Don’t stream every day unless you’re sure you can do it without burn-out. Have a schedule, even a loose one.
Try to have your own brand. This is a combination of everything prior tbh, but you gotta make streaming your own thing. I like to play-fight with my stream a lot and act overly arrogant about things so chat will desire my downfall, as well as doing things the hard way so there’s stakes. I fill the overlay of my stream with quotes of chat members I found hilarious and with “guests” like Keyboard Mashing Lappland or Kamen Rider Agito. Think of your stream as your little bar people come into, with its unique atmosphere. Yes, your activity matters, but you matter a lot as well: What is your stream identity? Are people cooling on stream? Etc etc.
Ask me the same question again at my Twitch when I’m live, after I return from Japan! I’ll definitely have An Answer then as well, similar but likely meatier than this.

i defeated/completed Indigo Park
im not used to playing games this big, i mean were talking almost 9gb here
i dont play enough horror games. even then, most of my experience is with action horror like idv where its more of a theme, and rpgmaker games. mascot horror is a bit outside my wheelhouse, but i am aware of it. who couldnt be? i can only imagine its the genre when you wanna make a profit going indie. while the genre itself was popularized when fnaf really took off, this format of a setpiece-heavy horror fps with light puzzle elements was really popularized by poppy playtime. and garten of banban. and rainbow friends. and-
anyway, ive been told that this project is headed by the youtuber UniqueGeese. i cant say im familiar, but it looks like theyre really experienced when it comes to mascot horror. its really neat to see someone with roots in critique and transformative content break out and make their own game. judging from the sheer quantity of videos, he sure seems to know what hes talking about, so its neat to see how the experience of a player translates to developer.
either way, it feels like this was a passion project, not a cash grab. sure, its free, but so is a lot of first chapters. it reminds me about how gacha games give you a bunch of free rolls when you first sign up. well, thats an unfair comparison (at least in indigo parks case), this feels more comparable to a demo for a full game. its not just an enticement, so it feels easier to pay for the rest of the game incrementally instead of watching youtubers play, it feels like a surface-level experiment to give the inevitable next episode something to build off of
so hows the game, anyway? well, its short. the credits rolled about 50 minutes in, and i was taking my time. there wasnt really a gimmick or anything, either. like, there wasnt a thing to make the gameplay stand out or make the puzzles unique. hell, there werent puzzles, the closest was turning around to see a missing gear or two. its refreshing to see something so straightforward, but im worried than not having something special and distinct will make it get lost in the crowd. which is a shame! i had a lot of fun, and id love to see a chapter 2. all i ask is that there be some more accessibility options. i really appreciated the subtitles, but maybe some mouse sensitivity settings would be nice. other than that, just a really solid and charming horror game!
also, full and somewhat nsfw disclosure. the only reason i know about this game is because furries i follow are down horrendous for rambley. they either want to fuck the shit out of him or get transformed/hypnotized into him. i have no idea if this was on purpose? like, when i look at that gangly blue thing from poppy playtime, i think "oh its a cute thing thats scary-fied, for the demographic of kids that wouldve loved sonic.exe and creepypasta a generation ago". its just transparently targeted, yknow? with rambley, i have no idea. like, hes cute in a mascot way, but i think its the personality that mainly draws people in. hes a cute little fella who loves trains and wants you to have fun, and also he sounds like basketball from bfdi. he might count as a shortstack too? hes targeting such a niche that i dont think it could be targeted; like, roald dahl didnt know about inflation, he just invented a new subgenre of kink by accident. i dunno, honestly hes not really my type, but more power to you if you wanna ride his train

Decemberween '23 — This Year's ASMRtists
If you’re not familiar with it, ASMR is an abbreviation meaning ‘autonomous sensory meridian response,’ a science sounding name for a reaction that some people get to a range of stimuli. This effect can be caused by a whole host of triggers but at least in the community on Youtube there’s a body of people who engage with it because of its ability to affect relaxation and restful mindsets. If you’re not familiar with what this looks like, it looks like a bunch of people making long videos with a strangely hushed affect.
And I watch and listen to them, to help me relax!
If you are familiar with it, hey, here’s some of the artists I’ve been watching this year, as the ASMR effect shifts around in my head and how I respond to it. One thing that people who don’t experience ASMR might not realise is that you can rely only on the effect being modestly unpredictable. Some stuff may cause it reliably for months and then suddenly, nothing. It pushes me to partake of new things regularly, and to that end, every year, I try to look at what artists are ‘new’ to me that I haven’t mentioned before.
Here then are four artists that I started paying attention to this year:
ASMR "Criminal" Lawyer Gets You Out of Trouble | BETTER CALL SAUL Parody

I feel like I’ve watched more Amy Kay, like maybe I watched her years ago and I never got around to mentioning her. That’s probably likely, because she has an entire queer-read story about you being some variety of monarch, who started out being referred to as a dude, and then as the story evolved, the woman you’re talking to starts referring to you differently. Then eventually the series splits into two threads, with one half referring to ‘my lord’ and the other ‘my lady.’
Oh and then a cult got involved, it was an interesting story.
Anyway, Amy Kay does a lot of different types of video. Some of it is very mundane, some of it is very fantastic, and you’ll know if it’s the kind you respond to. Also, and this shouldn’t be a thing, but in the ASMR space, there’s a common responsiveness to media trends. When a Harry Potter movie comes out, a lot of people will make Harry Potter themed videos. It’s just a heavy trend, and I try not to hold it too much against the artists who are algorithm-responsive, but I am grateful when I see people fade out on it.
Amy Kay does have some videos about Harry Potter content, but it seems to be a thing of the past for now.

Cosmo is an ASMR puppet. Cosmo is not unique as an ASMR puppet, but Cosmo is a puppet that does ASMR. And it’s a big friendly kind of puppet. You’re not going to see stuff that you won’t see from other ASMRtists by the way. Cosmo does roleplays about Recent Events (hi, Barbie Movie Tie In moment) and Cosmo does hand-focused gameplay videos (like Solitaire and Rush Hour), and Cosmo even does draw-along and ramble videos. In every way, Cosmo creates the most typical and normal content any middle of the road ASMRtist can produce, except for the alienation that comes from Cosmo being a puppet.
Alienation is important to me in ASMR. Roleplays don’t want to be realistic because they can’t be. Sometimes there are people who aim for normal, everyday kind of vibes, or expected behaviours, but because ASMR content is fundamentally weird (why are we all whispering?), the closer it gets to normalcy, the less likely it is to land for me. Give me something weird, give me something that recognisably can’t be real, and let me patch the gap in reality myself.
Cosmo’s great, and Cosmo isn’t real, but Cosmo exists and is my friend.

I’m really selfconscious about my ASMR habits, especially since a lot of the ASMRtists I follow are very attractive women, some of whom are markedly younger than myself, and that makes me feel… oogy. It does mean that when I find myself responding to an ASMRtist who isn’t a pretty white girl, I try to make sure I mention it, and share their work. In this case, ASMRdido got on my radar through long, patient, whispered explanations of mathematical game concepts – particularly, the Monty Hall problem.
The other thing he does that I find useful for study is long (long) videos of playing a softly sounded, wood-and-velvet game called Close the Box. Close the Box is a great solo game because it underscores how little pieces you need to make a game out of something and still make it engaging.

And finally, Lloyd’s ASMR is a channel that’s… I think deliberately weird. Lloyd really turns up the ambient sound so if you don’t like the SHHHHH of an empty room, you might not like these. They’re slow, deliberate videos, and usually you can see the structure being something Lloyd has props for, reiterated in a new form. Door to door salesman, visiting a store, visiting an old style store. It’s a bit like a comprehensive library in that if you like one thing you can probably find ten or twenty versions of the same thing, even if they don’t make sense. Like you don’t get door to door bakery salespeople.
Lloyd is someone I like because of his gentle demeanour and I like the way that I, forgive me, don’t have to pay much attention. There’s not going to be a really funny joke or something I need to respond to, the way that (say) survey question videos invite me to. I know what I’m getting and I know there’s a reasonably large quantity of it, but also that it’s not about to impress me. It’s just sweet background noise and I’m not going to need to be afraid of something shocking or funny happening.
There! Here’s some stuff I’ve been listening to this year and I think makes my ability to focus and study better.
Check it out on PRESS.exe to see it with images and links!

so Sonic Superstars came out today. I got it. I played it, or, most of it. even recorded myself playing it all blind. my first time doing a blind LP of something so topical, new, fresh.
"how is it?" a lot more weighty an adventure than Mania, for better or for worse. I think it neatly combines the Sega Genesis gameplay with the creativity of the Game Gear and some definite feelings of Sonic Advance. as a game, it feels like a much more honest try at what Sonic 4 ought to have been. graphical style and music especially. I love the music.
"but?" but, like Mania, it has a stupid difficulty spike. unlike Mania, this one is near the end of the game, so that at least makes sense. but also unlike Mania, Superstars goes way way way harder on the difficulty. for, like, a grand total of two boss fights. one of them took me like ten tries, and I started getting frustrated, but I snapped out of it and figured it out and won by the skin of my teeth. the other is the final boss. I've been at it for 40 minutes now. it is a very.. Sonic Rush kind of boss. you have to wait for the chance to hit him. wait for a long time, very slow attacks, that tend to hit hard and can one-hit you. with several phases of this. I got him down to what I hope are his last two hits, three times. died miserably every time. each time this happens, I feel drained, I feel very little desire to try again, because I have to restart the entire damn fight, and it just.. wastes... so much time. and I always forget the nuances of the attack patterns by the mid-fight, let alone the end-fight, because there are so many attack patterns, and missing one hit means waiting and dodging for like another fucking minute.
god. it's. a little bit what I was afraid of. when I do finally put up these videos on youtube, I have every intention of cutting out the bulk of my repetitive frustrations. it's not fun. I refuse to believe it would be fun to watch.
I had a really good time with so much of the rest of the game. I like it a lot more than Mania, though I mean, that is partly because I have a weird opinion of Mania anyway (I got colder to the game over time). Mania pandered to a nostalgia older than me. Superstars panders to my nostalgia. but I'd. love to be done with it already. it's not a long game. like three hours, if you don't get stuck on the final boss.
maybe I'll just listen to some of the game's music for now. and reflect on the nicer parts of my experience. some really freaking cool levels. and the music for the final level is perfect!!!!

September 24th, 2024 - boring
+ ° . ๑・° ⊹ . + ° . ๑・° ⊹ . + ° . ๑・° ⊹ . +
Nothing really happened. Tuesdays are always boring.
At least I have a new friend to talk to.
I got angry at my mother and she was mad at me. We basically keep going with our day and talk like nothing happened.
I hate it, but it's better than nothing.
Beach House uploaded all (or at least most) of their music videos from "Teen Dream" to their YouTube channel. I didn't know they made so many of them.
The video for "Walk in the Park" is... unexpectedly bizarre. But it works. Like, I get it. I think.
I still have to watch the rest.
Well, I watched "Take Care". I always cry with that song. For different reasons.
Lately I've been watchinf lots of gameplays of old computer games by Flipline Studios. You know, the ones who created Papa Louie and all the related games, Cactus McCoy, Jacksmith.
Do I sound crazy? Maybe not.
I wish I could play those games again.
I guess you won't need this anymore.
So what's the point?

I never played baba is you, but I watched videos of people playing, and tried to solve the puzzles before the youtuber did. The later levels in baba (after the first big twist) were confounding to me and I couldn't solve them in my head at all (aside from the smaller simpler puzzles, which I could sometimes do). But levels before the twist usually were solvable for me. The game doesn't rely much on precise movement or niche interactions, almost every solution is an obvious consequence of word definitions. The hard part is usually noticing which combination you need in order to set up a specific situation. Early on, it's even simpler, and you usually just need to notice one single possible sentence which would solve the level. Like, in the early lava level, you just need to notice that you can move a word that allows you to create "lava is melt" or "lava is baba". Later levels require multiple sentences to be created at different times in the level, and the key is knowing WHICH sentences you can create which would be helpful, what order to make those sentences in, and where in the level you make them. But generally, it feels like it ramps up slowly. I rambled a little long there, let me switch to talking about bean and nothingness.
In bean and nothingness, I've only completed the first 2 worlds, so keep that in mind. Baba puzzles feel pretty open ended, like there are always more things to try. In bean and nothingness, once I've tried a few things, it feels like I've exhausted all of my options and it's really difficult to motivate myself to keep walking around an area which is not very dynamic. Puzzles this difficult weren't very common, the rest of the puzzles I found fairly easy, with less than 4 of them actually posing a challenge around my level. Having said that, I still had fun with all of the puzzles except for one that was a large square with a bomb bug in the middle, and 4 rollers on the outside. That one was fairly easy to see what I was supposed to do, but the challenge of moving the rollers around on the outskirts was just exhausting to me. I gave up on it after messing with it for 5 minutes.
You also convinced me to play microban 1, and I played through to around level 120. I found the game very easy up until around level 80, which took a really long time because I have just been playing it on my phone when not doing anything else. Most levels after 80 were also very easy to figure out and took less than a minute. I think less than 10 puzzles in the entire 120 took me more than a minute, and at least 5 of those only took so long due to the tediousness of moving around so slowly with mobile controls. The puzzles that actually took me longer than a minute to figure out usually took me 10 minutes or more, and I had a great time solving them. But these only started showing up after level 80, and many levels after 80 tend to just be more tedious and larger rather than necessarily more difficult.
Actually, the experience of going through these simple levels for so long reminded me of void stranger. The atmosphere and artstyle was quite a bit worse, and the lack of music certainly impacted the experience, but the gameplay loop of solving tons of really short and simple levels was very reminiscent. I enjoyed void stranger more, I'd say. The earlygame was more fun because the tile moving mechanic was novel and the atmosphere was great at motivating me, and once I got into the lategame of that, there were far less 'easy but super long' puzzles and more 'short but extremely difficult' levels. To bring this back to bean and baba, I'd say void stranger felt more like baba in how open ended it felt, while microban felt more like bean with how limited my options felt. I'll say that when it comes to the easier puzzles, I liked bean and nothingness more than microban, but when it came to the puzzles that stumped me, I liked microban more than bean and nothingness. Now, to be fair, I haven't finished either bean or microban, and I never technically played baba myself, so take these opinions with a grain of salt.
to people who started playing bean and nothingness from my video & still haven't watched it, hows the game so far?

The Astrological Houses Challenge part 1/12
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* The First House of Twelve *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
A challenge to inspire sims 4 gameplay, blended with astrology!
THE FIRST HOUSE
“The first House is the House of self. This includes self-awareness, the physical body, personality, appearance, self-identity, self-image, early environment, and beginnings. It's how we initiate, how we’re impulsive. Any planets in this house will greatly influence your personality and how others perceive you.”
Since the first house is a comfortable place for Aries energy, and Aries is ruled by Mars, let’s pretend this sim is also influenced that way. That adds some aggression, drive, athleticism, passion, independence and courage.
Traits: Hot headed, Athletic, Self-Absorbed (basegame- self-assured)
Aspiration: Serial Romantic. (But this sim may have a change of heart/aspiration and change to Bodybuilder Aspiration)
Career: Secret Agent: (You may decide the branch, but it has consequences)
This sim has a life story, challenge goals and more optional aspects included in the image below!
What Will Their Life Be Like?
You’re making a sim who’s life revolves around themselves, for the good and the bad.
You always came in first, so it’s hard to slow you down even now that you’re a Young Adult. You had to be independent as long as you can remember, but no friends or family means more time to focus on yourself, right? Since you have so few lasting connections, when you finally marry a Good sim, you are completely inconsiderate to their feelings. You look into your backyard whenever you need a pick-me-up, as the planted roses of your favourite colour tell a secret story only you can understand. Will this Sim ever have a change of heart? Will they learn to love anything more than themselves?
Goals:
Start in a starter home
Marry a sim with the Good trait, but remain unfaithful to them.
Keep a garden in your yard, and grow a rose each time you woohoo a new Sim
Rekindle your relationship after being caught cheating by your spouse
Get in 3+ physical fights as a young adult
Go jogging or to the gym at least once per week
Purchase the Brave Reward Trait for 8,000
Earn the Adrenaline Seeker Lifestyle (basegame-replicate the thrilling activities, exploration, aruging, public woohoo, VR, etc.)
Earn The Spice Hound Trait (basegame-eat spicy or adventurous foods)
When you reach the appropriate career level, decide between Diamond Agent of Villain. If you pick Diamond Agent, you must switch to Bodybuilder Aspiration and abandon your Serial Romantic progress. If you pick Villain, your spouse leaves you for good and you don't remarry.
Reach lvl 10 of the Secret Agent Career
Complete the chosen aspiration
Have only two children
╱╲❀╱╲╱╲❀╱╲╱╲❀╱╲
EXPLAINING OPTIONAL ASPECTS:
Technically every part of the challenge is optional. Especially these parts, so take whatever you like leave the rest! This is more about inspiring gameplay than being a strict challenge.
SPECIAL COLOUR: This could fun for berry sims or just colour inspiration for things like clothes, hair, home, etc.
APPEARANCE: There are stereotypical physical features for signs, I used a mix of ascendant physical qualities, ruling body parts and general characteristics to decide this.
REQUIRED GENETICS/SPOUSE: If you want your next heir to reflect their astrological sign physically, you'll have to marry someone with those qualities to keep it genetically realistic!
THE NEXT HEIR: Specifies which season they should be born in to reflect their sign
CREDITS
A lot of my info is from The Only Astrology Book You Will Ever Need
My House Descriptions are from Astro Library
The cute Astrology wheel I am using is by DearHoroscope
I was watching this youtube video by Rosebud when they mentioned a Zodiac Legacy Challenge by Cowplant-Pizza! This instantly gave me the idea to combine the houses/signs/planets into a challenge! I'm avoiding reading through there's as to not influence my own challenge but from what I've skimmed so far it looks amazing and I can't wait to try it out!
OPTIONAL MODS:
The Personality Mod By MissyHissy allows you to make this sim a Romance Sim with a custom reward trait
The Zodiac Signs Mod By Radiophobe allows you to make this Sim an Aries with a custom reward trait
╲╱❀╲╱╲╱❀╲╱╲╱❀╲╱
More parts coming soon!

This Week In BL - Lots of comfort hugs & car kisses
June 2022 Wk 1
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying the most.
Ongoing Series - Thai
Triage (AISplay Mon) Ep 5-6 - This is not just a time loop show anymore. The way they’re unfolding this narrative is more like a mystery. And so far that aspect is working better for me than the actual mystery did in sister-show Manner of the Death. This drama keeps improving every new ep, which I didn’t expect from a groundhog day premise, they usually get more dull not more exciting, it’s smart, I like that. Also Fiat blond is v cute.
Dear Doctor, I'm Coming for Soul (iQIYI Weds) Ep 11 - Metha is finally on their side to uncover the sins of the past and expose the bad guy who defamed daddy. Redemption arc! Meanwhile, side dishes got an “around the back of head not at all a kiss” kiss. I haven’t seen that from Thailand since Make it Right! Retro “we not gay” camera action used because the actors aren’t comfortable with each other. Tut tut.
Sky in Your Heart (Fri YouTube) Ep 1 - Is it derivative? Yes. Do I care? No. There’s so much Thai stuff these days, that I think we’re going to get more & more works that derive more & more plots from previous successful shows. So, yeah, this is basically Tale of Thousand Stars only shorter run and faster paced. And I’m not mad about it. So far I like this 2nd installment in the series a lot better than Star. I think this story is cleaner, the characters better portrayed, the conflict more understandable, and in general it feels more mature. Also I guess this should be added to my short list of BL‘s that are told from the seme’s perspective? Linguistically: these two are formal with each other using pom/khun.
KinnPorsche (iQIYI Sat) Ep 9 - Big is my favorite best boy, but he's getting so much screen time for so little plot-use payout there’s a good chance he’s the mole. Meanwhile, Pete is sent into the viper’s den. I liked that this episode was mostly manipulations and plot. I think Tawan is a good character, well cast. So for me this was one of the better episodes we’ve had. On Wik & Chay as a couple, I’m going to be controversial with this statement: It was a mistake to switch out Gameplay. He and Jeff just have MUCH better chemistry together. I suspect they did it because they wanted a younger, more innocent looking actor for Chay, but these two just aren’t working for me as a couple. I get nothing from them and they don’t seem much connected to the rest of the show, either. I never thought I’d say this about a Jeff plot line, but, its boring me.
Close Friend 2 (Viki Thur) Ep 5 - Pierce finally comes out, and it goes as smoothly as expected. Workplace homophobia and further conflict still abound though. It’s fine, well acted and directed, just not really my kinda plot.
My Secret Love (YouTube Sat) Ep 2 - Being forced by a university to be a BL couple is ABSURD, but it is giving them permission to lampoon tropes which I kinda enjoy. Otherwise it’s VERY awkward with poor chemistry across the board. I do not like the lead couple, tom/jerry is one of my least favorite dynamics (it always seems mean spirited). I already have 2nd lead syndrome and he hasn’t even really been introduced. So far the leads remind me of My Boy (which I DNFd) X BonDuen from My Engineer (who I dislike). I prefer the sides. Specifically the closeted LTR couple (Longa & ?) they use rao/ter together, which I find VERY cute. (Look, the names are hard since what I am seeing in captions isn’t in the MDL listing.) I’ve watched worse BLs for better side couples before (cough cough Brothers), so we shall see how this goes...
Thai BL - Finished this week!
La Cuisine (GaGa Sat) Ep 13fin - Honestly, I enjoyed it but it is awful slow. Thank goodness GaGa has 1.5x speed option. It also takes the faen fatale archetype to the next level of extreme evil. Everyone got a cute couple ending, even characters I didn’t really recognize, couldn’t remember, or showed no chemistry. But hey, shrug. Also, Sky & Phai = unexpectedly great kiss. Why did we not get their thread (and Kitty’s for that matter) throughout the show? It would’ve helped with the pacing a lot. (Honestly, these two actors probably should’ve played the leads, IMHO). In the end, la cuisine is sweet and kind of pure and like Thai desserts perhaps a little too time-consuming for the Layperson. Because of the pacing and the focus on the bad girl character, I did dock it a point. But if you like stuff in the Oxygen vein, then this show is for you, and far better than most Thai BL pulps. However, I suspect that I enjoyed it more than many would. Full review here. 7/10 RECOMMENDED WITH RESERVATIONS
That’s My Candy (Viki Tues) Ep 6 - Amnesia trope. Sigh. And then I guess a reboot for the romance and because they are older they can make it work this time? What did I just watch? This was terrible. Full review here. 3/10 NOT RECOMMENDED
Meow Ears Up (GaGa Tue) Ep 8fin - I liked this BL and found it sweet, I’m not opposed to the catboy (pet) trope, but I guess it was trying to be too Japanese about it while the set up was all sweetness and Thai style, because they fudged the ending. For me, that’s a fatal flaw, 4/10 NOT RECOMMENDED (full review here)
Cupid's Last Wish (YouTube Sun) Ep 10fin - This is one show where I didn’t mind the one year time jump at the end it contributed to a very very strong final episode. In fact probably the best ep of the series. It wasn’t enough to save it for me. But it certainly did excel. EarthMix gave a really good final kiss too. Still I never liked this show nor really enjoyed myself mostly because of Win’s character, no full review, 6/10. WORTH WATCHING FOR SOME, BUT FLAWED
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Fukou-kun wa Kiss Suru Shikanai! AKA Mr Unlucky Has No Choice But to Kiss! (Japan GaGa *rec* & Viki Fri) Ep 7 - Is this turning into a tradition, where we get the opposite POV in the penultimate episode of a Japanese BL? Regardless, it was really nice to get Naoya’s perspective. I’m still really liking the show, I’m not sure if it has a story arc at all, but that’s Japanese romcoms for you, quite frankly.
Plus & Minus (Taiwan Viki *rec* & GaGa Fri) Ep 9 - This one is waffling a bit, I think I’ve decided to think of it as more of a soap opera - Taiwanese style, then an actual show with a proper story or anything. It seems very episodic. I actually like the main couple a lot more than the side couple, which is not normal for me.
Love in Spring (Korea grey) Ep1-4 - It’s very Korean historical comedy, much more so than the historical KBLs we’ve had so far (Tinted with You, Nobleman Ryu’s Wedding). It is, unfortunately, also a bit over acted (especially the whipping boy trope driven “bad guy.”). To be fair, there is a lot of scenery chewing going on. The cross dressing is definitely played for laughs, and there is a Cindefella element as well. Bad wig warning. There’s a lot of voice over thoughts, people explaining what is going on to the viewer (we KNOW), and also talking to themselves as exposition. None of this is good. But it’s a big cast and high production values for such a crappy script. I will stick with it if I can and definitely watch if it gets picked up for distribution.
Getaway (Singapore Mon YouTube) Ep 2 - didn’t drop? Or I didn’t catch it, but then again I don’t know what their schedule is. Weekly? Every other week? Monthly?
Gossip
Korean production studio Silkwood (Peach of Time) announced 3 new BLs:
PT is Love: friends of 10 years who’ve been hiding feelings for each other enter the same university. Plus MURDER.
Love is like a Cat: A new star, called the Cat Prince for his cold arrogance, goes up against a charismatic puppyish director.
Space Bakery: A spaceship crash-lands into and destroys a small bakery shop. Of course this means the alien and the baker end up living together. At the same time, other aliens-in-hiding all around the city start hunting for them.
That last one tho. Woah.
Casting finally announced for Japan’s long awaited (by me, anyway, it’s AGE GAP!) Wash My Heart AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry (manga by Yuzu Tsubaki). It’ll star Kusakawa Takuya (Rokkaku of Cherry Magic) and Nishikagi Sho (bit part in My Love Mix Up! also in Muchuu-sa, Kimi ni). Premieres on July 6 on TV Tokyo, no word on international but irozuku is going to sub it!!!!
Plot: Middle-aged former corporate drone, Akira, now peacefully runs his grandfather’s beloved coin laundromat. One day, high-school student, Shintaro, stumbles in and despite the age difference they became friends. Then Shintaro finds out that Akira is gay...
New Taiwanese Bl announced My Tooth Your Love (from Result Entertainment - We Best Love series) with script by Lin Pei who loves VERY traditional yaoi tropes, she’s the writer of HIStory1: Obsessed, HIStory2: Right or Wrong, HIStory2: Crossing the Line, HIStory3: Trapped, WBL, & See You After Quarantine?!! Stars Andy Wu (Amensalism), Yu Jin, Michael Chang, and Alex Chou (composer/musician and the other bartender in WBL).
In Case You Missed It
Japan’s movie adaptation of Miso's Koi Kogare Utae AKA Sing In Love released in theaters, no word on international distribution. About a teacher who encounters a mysterious man from his past, who is strangely obsessed with him.
Love Mechanics is coming to WeTV end of this month (?) but they are pretty bad about English subs and international distribution, so we are hoping GaGa saves the day (like they did with My Ride). But it’s Viki who has the original En of Love Series. Who knows where it’s going. Fingers crossed.
Next Week Looks Like This:
All three midweek shows end their run next week. Much anticipated Thai BL Check Out is about to start. Rumor is it will release to their YT channel but the eng sub version will be behind a paywall. I’m willing to bite, but it better be REALLY good and I intend to watch without subs first. We already KNOW the chemistry is on point with these two, though.
This week’s best moments?
I love how practical and bureaucratic the reaper business is in Thailand. I bet they have spreadsheets. I feel very seen. (Dear Doctor)
When a show reviews itself (Mr Unlucky).
Plus and Minus the head cradle hug, a favorite of mine.
Truth bomb on Close Friends 2.
Look I just find sweaty gym bunnies coming out relatable, okay? (Close Friends 2)
Well, La Cuisine, that couple and kiss CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. But hey, we’ll take it, while simultaneously feeling like WE WERE ROBBED.
