💞 - favourite moment in a game?

From a story-telling, cinematic p.o.v., definitely this one in Halo 4:

Just the bittersweetness of her finally being able to touch him, his confusion, the first time I'd ever heard him stumble over his words, the realization that she wasn't coming back with him, had sacrificed herself to save him... All of it, man. Just right in the heart, oof!

From a gameplay p.o.v., saving 3 Echo 57 on the mission ONI: Sword Base from Halo: Reach. The troop transport Warthog is supposed to explode before you can get to it but there's a way to zoooooooom over there (Acrophobia skull works best) and stun it with a charged-up plasma pistol so it doesn't cross the invisible line where it'll blow up.

Me: This is for your own good, marines. Trust me, you don't want to keep driving that way! *ZZZZZZZAP*

You make the driver get out so you can quickly but carefully drive it out of there, avoiding a few other invisible lines that will ALSO make it blow up. Then you can bring it back, fill it with marines, and take it through almost all of the rest of the mission! I always save my 3 Echo 57 marines if I'm not doing a speedrun or something else that keeps me from doing so! 🤗

(Yeah, it always looks like it's on fire but it's just cosmetic. It has the same health as any other Warthog as far as I can tell. 😎👍 Also, please pardon the ABSOLUTE POTATO QUALITY. I chopped it out of an existing GIF and that did it no favors, eek!)

🌌 - what made you interested in halo?

I've always had an interest in video games but no way to play them, so when Youtube walkthroughs/Let's plays/etc became a thing, I watched a LOT of them. One of them was Halo 4 (where I imprinted on that version of Cortana, lol). Fast-forward many years later to the first commercial I saw for the tv series, thought it sounded interesting, and watched it when it came out. As soon as I did, I seriously WANTED to play at least one of the games. Found the MCC on a rad sale at Steam and decided to see if my old man (previous computer) could play it. He could and the rest, as they say, is history!

It honestly became my comfort game when I was little. It was the first 'adult' video game/first-person shooter I ever played. That's the most I remember after 12 years of being apart of the fandom.

a brief rundown of it is taking that whole "guardian of this world" concept, and being an embodiment of dreams, bravery and light.. then making it into a silly forest spirit,,

some inspos are sky children of the light, over the garden wall, adventure time, and zelda . again , weird mix , i knowwww . but!!!

i would need an entire doc to list all the things i've written on him thus far but i'd love asks/questions (and perhaps suggestions!)

Luo Binghe could almost believe that the kind stranger who'd fished him out of the icy Luo river, drifting lifelessly down the stream as he passed out from exhaustion after finally clawing his way out of the Endless Abyss, was some sort of divine being.

He had the most beautiful face Luo Binghe had ever seen on anyone in this life, his voice soothing and calming like a balm, and his hands were so soft and gentle as they dressed his wounds that Luo Binghe couldn't help squeezing his eyes shut and getting lost in the fantasy of resting in his mother's safe and loving embrace, back before everything went wrong.

The illusion shattered the moment the man brought a foul-smelling bowl of soup to his lips, gently coaxing him to eat and replenish his strength.

... When Luo Binghe regained his senses two hours later, his body still shaking uncontrollably with the effects of the bizarre concoction that made even his heavenly demon blood freeze and boil in his veins, he turned to gaze at the man and found him spluttering apologies with a mix of shame, embarrassment and anxiety clearly written on his handsome features.

i need to know your effie thoughts for the ask game actually i literally can’t stand her and ik u can’t either. lets hate together

ooohhh... the primal, primal hatred within me has been unlocked. this post gets the fancy layout out of my disdain. my stance on effie is utter hatred, and that's not just because of hayffie (and if you ask me about them, i'll give you another response,) but because of *who* she is.

effie to me is a character who is unmulti-faceted, and uncomplex. she's a capitol-born woman who goes into the work of an escort in order to reap district children and prepare them for the brutality of the hunger games. this, she takes pride in. she revels in her role, finding pleasure in the possibility of moving up the ranks to a “better district,” and only sees twelve as a breeding ground of “barbarism” and “savages.” (her words.) when faced with the role of a responsible adult, she fails. she fails to firstly, assure the safety of katniss and peeta in a situation where their mentor is checked out and totally inebriated and not in a state where his well-being is at its best. he in slavered in his own vomit and bile, barely able to get up without assistance. in response to this, she hops over his doubled-down body and walks away.

doesn't call for assistance from a capitol hospitality member, doesn't attempt to help haymitch herself. she leaves two kids being sent to the slaughter to divide responsibility that *she* should've taken up, to then carry their mentor to the bathroom in order to help him clean up, because as aforementioned, he's in no state to take care of himself. she neglects to be of any assistance, and priss or clean-freak aside, she *failed* to be the reliable adult in that situation.

she then goes on to tell katniss, a girl who comes from the poorest part of her district and is a girl of color, who is HEAVILY if not canonically hinted to be a native american (judging appalachian history and heritage and her description,) that the two seam children who came before her circa to the 74th games ate like “savages," a well-known word that discriminates against the indigenous and is a violent stereotype based on cruel assumptions of a minority. with the context of the seam children being impoverished, skinny and malnourished, effie discriminates against children who usually have no winning chance. they die in the bloodbath every year. she assumes the most heinous thing of this tributes, who are *children.*

as an escort, she plays the role of an oppressor. she is open and willing and a participant in the death of district children, and it is of her liberated autonomy to do so. despite then realising how she's been indoctrinated by the capitol when it comes to the games, and finding sympathy for the rebels and partly having an understanding of the political uproar relating to this, she's never been likeable to me. she acts as a reaper in both the escort sense and the symbolic sense as she is constantly choosing who is for the butcher — who will die at the hands of the games.

the movies twist her into something more sympathetic and rebellious when it doesn't really lie with her persona, doesn't really appeal to me that she would get her hands dirty for the cause and be so collaborative with the people (the rebels) who are against her and her very being. adding to this lightly, effie and haymitch are a contrasting pair. she is the enemy, and she is (like any escort and any capitolite who isn't a full-blown rebel like plutarch,) the oppressor, while haymitch is an example of the opressed.

the tributes are murdered by panem out of a penance for the prior rebellions, and yknow. being complict in all of that, effie *is* a second-hand murderer. that's how i spin it, anyway.

Ghost sighed slightly behind his skull balaclava. "Sure I'll recognize him by all the bruises on his knuckles," he said dryly.

"YOU SAID TO BE HONEST, STOP HITTING ME!"

John heard Kai's shout from the hallway outside of the Spartan quarters and shoved the door open to see—

He blinked. For a solid moment, he wasn't quite sure what he was seeing, actually. Kai vaulted over her own bed, being pursued hotly by Vannak.

"That wasn't honest," he said grimly. "You're just being mean."

"Look, it's not my fault that that penguin documentary was kinda lame and—"

"IT WAS NOT!" Vannak bellowed back and took a swing at her that would've definitely put a marine in the infirmary for a month, if not in the ground, permanently. For Kai, it would've at the very least mussed her hair. "Those penguins are adorable and—"

"Lame. Laaaaaame," she singsonged, ducking a flurry of punches, then doing a very impressive parkour run up the wall into a backflip that sent her soaring over the enraged Spartan's head.

"THEY'RE NOT LAME, YOU TAKE THAT BACK!"

John looked over at Riz, who was calmly sitting at a nearby table, reading something on her padd. She met his gaze, shrugged, and then went back to reading.

They crisscrossed the room rapidly, with Vannak coming close to getting his hands on her but, ultimately, Kai would manage to slip away at the last second. The entire time, she continued to issue penguin insults that, for some reason, the other Spartan took extremely personally.

John opened his mouth, about to say… something. Then he gave a slight shake of his head.

"I have paperwork to do," he announced to no one. "Don't I, Cortana?"

"I can find you some, Chief."

"That would be great," he said and just turned around and walked away.
