so... my birthday's tomorrow. and i had time to chill. naturally, i went down the tumblr rabbit hole scrolling (more so, scrolling through various jing yuan tags cause i'm an unrestrained simp)
stopped and read a few fics about 'daddy!kink' jy but couldn't shake it out of my head that he's:
one) an old man;
two) a character ethnically based off of chinese culture;
three) probably never knew of daddy kinks as a thing because of the asian perception of fatherhood.
now this isn't to say that asians don't have daddy kinks...
but dude. asian child raising involves the same role expected of fathers with an additional, dedicated role of permanently scarring and scaring their child in their efforts to raise them to standards of perfection.
(like ensuring their child cries bitterly as they help them with their math homework and constantly comparing their child to other children in the community and boasting of the 'ease' of life now as opposed when 'they were younger and had to hike mountains to get to school -')
poor old jing yuan is just looking at his lover wondering, 'she wants me to call and act like what in bed??!' dude still has ptsd from jingliu's relentless training, and that's 'mother' (figure) right there. jy is probably close to tears on the inside, wondering how effed up his poor lover's childhood must have been to want to call him 'daddy' and him to call her his 'baby girl.'

Where did any valid, non-Israeli sources report that Hamas actually raped anyone? Also if the leaders of Hamas are billionaires then why the fuck are they barely armed and actually willing to negotiate with Israel? You people devour any piece of propaganda to support your racism and vitriol against innocents. Don't spew nonsensical hatred and then try to backtrack saying you're not trying to come off as aggressive, you know exactly what the fuck you're getting at.
A 75 year genocide in the making and children who grew up under tyranny want their people's freedom take matters into their own hands, and you all take the side of the oppressor. Calling them terrorists and rapists. Wallaahi billaahi I cannot for the life of me understand you cadan and your genetic tendencies towards hatred and bigotry
"pro-terrorist encampments" what in the actual fuck is wrong with you?
I sometimes forget most of you missed 9/11. Terrorist attacks happen on a weekly basis around the world, you're insulated for the moment. But yes, you're rooting for terrorists. Did you not notice that part? You skip past their war crimes and support their war - and when they lose its someone else's fault.
Did the Iranian people's movement of 'women. life. freedom' not resonate enough with you? Was it too, idk, democratic and liberal or something? I didn't see you staging mass protests and encampments to keep that movement for liberation in the media and pressuring for change to finally come. But you're happy to cheer on the start of a war and then complain that wars cause death, like this is fucking news to you. You support terrorists and their ambitions to establish a totalitarian state. You want to hand over power to Hamas, have you got any idea what it's like to live under that regime? You tell Jews to leave Israel but none of you are leaving North America. Hypocrisy and gullibility are what's actually fucking wrong with you. And in the long run, it's not going to protect you.

First off, giving up an old bad habit is difficult, that I know; however, it is not impossible. I've had a lot of difficulties in my life where I repeated the same habit over and over again and I thought for me I would never overcome them. But you know what changed? trying. I tried my best every day and even if I failed, I slowly accepted that I am not perfect and I am only human. That is who we are, and that is why Allah the Almighty is so merciful, because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala himself knows we humans will slip up and fall. But listen, it's not impossible and as annoying as it is, as long as you keep trying, keep having that good intentions of becoming better and to do better; trust me those habits will be history.
Whenever we do something for the sake of our lord, everything works out, everything clicks together. These habits you have won't be vanished for one day of course, or a week, it's a process--a journey that we all need to accept. Think of it as a fitness journey, you won't get fit in one day. These things take time and after feeling so negative about myself I realized as long as you try, asking Allah for help, and doing the most you can--it is possible.
I hope these tips do help you, and everyone is different as everyone has different struggles and bad habits. These will either help you or guide you to overcome those habits in your own way. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make it easy for us.

I have seen a video of someone asking a scholar why do I still commit these bad deeds/habits if I am performing my five daily prayers? and the answer to this was the quality of your namaz. Do you rush into prayer, are you zoning out, are you not on time for namaz, and etc.
There is of course a lot to this but the quality of your namaz and how much time you spend with our lord does affect our hearts.
One of many ways to re-connect with our lord to become better with our daily prayers are:
Performing your prayers on time (I understand how our laziness could get in the way or how we are so into whatever we were doing before and cannot detach ourselves from this but, a quote I read and did help me at times like this was "Put your time and effort to Allah, and Allah will put his time and effort to you too.")
Recite a dua/surah after your namaz (Ayetel kursi, a repentance dua, La ilaha illallah, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul hamdu, yuhyi wa yumitu, wa huwa ala kulli shay'in qadir, and etc.)
Perform your wudhu 15-10 minutes earlier (Let me tell you when I did this it was so effective. When you perform wudhu earlier, you are in a clear-minded state and are purified. Along with you being on time for namaz, this additionally helps you become more focused during namaz)
Perform Dhikr (Subhanallah, Alhamdullilah, Astaghfirullah, La illaha illallah, Allahu Akbar)
Learn the meaning of what you are reciting (When you learn and understand the meaning of the surah/dua's you are reciting, being focused becomes easier and the connection becomes stronger)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⤑ 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔
Create distractions for yourself to not commit those deeds/habits!
Do what you love and enjoy (Go back to those hobbies you used to enjoy! or hang out with your friends and family.)
Educate yourself (Look up interesting things; Learn something new; Watch an islamic podcast)
Get to work (If you have any outstanding work or homework, get straight to it.)
Learn a new surah (Let's say you REALLY have nothing else to do, then what better way to spend that time in something worthy--learning a surah!)
Go outside and enjoy nature!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⤑ 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑯𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒔
Along with giving up those bad habits, create new good habits to incorporate in your day-to-day life!
Each day, add something in your routine--even if its small! For instance, get back to that skin care routine you were so lazy to do; or go on that walk you kept saying later to; or even folding your clothes and organizing your closet. Each time you add a good habit to do, you become distracted to those bad habits, have less time do commit them, and on the long run you are creating habits for a better difference!
With this in mind, please do not do everything at once. To prevent a negative on-going cycle, just like that book "Atomic Habits" said, that "If you can get 1% better each day for one year, you'll end up with 37 times better by the time you're done."
A habit to always include and progress even more is repentance! Recite and repeat Astaghfirullah; Ya Gaffar and Ya Gafoor; as well as the repentance surah's! Before doing anything, always say Bismillah and whether you're doing chores or scrolling on your phone, always say Astaghfirullah. This helps you be more aware of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala!
And lastly, remember you can do it!
: ̗̀➛ Allahumma musarrifal-qulubi, sarrif qulubana 'ala ta'atika
O Allah! Controller of the hearts, direct our hearts to Your obedience.

"We are, the employees of Allah, after all."
What is the parameter of success in our work? Of your writings, your artworks, your social media posts?
As someone who's into art and writing, I was in my quest to answer that question. In medical school, I am so accustomed to diagnostic criteria with which we are able to diagnose diseases for our (future) patients. When these boxes are tick, they summed a certain score sometimes indicating severity.
Yes, a quantifiable parameter would be an easier answer to the question. But is it the same for this case?
Until one day, Allah led me to an instagram post by Farah Qoonita, whose words haunted me until now.
Is it determined by the number of copies your books sold?
Or the amount of views and likes in your posts?
Or the cheers and chants of your name that you received?
Or the rows of awards on your shelf?
These lines sting.
No. Alas, they are not the indicator of success.
I then see myself on the stage during talkshows. I remember the compliments I received, admiration look I saw. Shaytaan it is. Playing tricks on my heart, to deviate my intentions. That for a brief moment, I was indeed: feeling proud of myself. Astaghfirullah.
This similar case occurs for social media posts. Likes, comments, saves, shares, reaches, new followers and so on! (Do you know, how much youtube videos discuss hacks to gain more of these by breaking Instagram algorithms? Are these what our generation is only after?)
It is when.. the praises are addressed, not to you, but rather to The One whose all praises belong to.
It is when.. admirers admire, not you, but The Creator of sky, earth and all in between.
It is when.. enthusiasts wish to be in vicinity, not with you, but with The Almighty.
As the story of Prophet Sulaiman (PBUH) and the Queen. By the Prophet Sulaiman's crafted castle, impressed she became. No, not to his figure. The Queen prostrated and believed. To Him.
This is, the highest rank of work.
Today, Ustadzah Faiza disclosed her story of her journey in understanding this concept. The wisdom she attained was,
"Create, share and tell. However remember! We are nothing but employees of Allah. We work not to introduce ourselves, but introduce Him.
Shift the center of focus, to The Almighty. Let ourselves play the only role to be intermediary of His messages.
This is the pledge, from the very beginning.
And wait for His Wonders of Guidance."
Today.
We are filled with digressed intentions.
We seek only popularities within earth.
Had we not dream of being acknowledged throughout the Skies?
Astaghfirullah.
-h.a.

Do you have more muslim sam headcanons? 😭
I adore you 💞💖💗💕💞💖💗💕💞💖💗💕
and yes here you go:
he is super obsessive about doing wudu correctly and praying every rak’a correctly so if he catches his mind wandering in the middle of it he starts over from the beginning
type of american muslim to ask abt pork cross-contamination when he eats out (dean bullies him ruthlessly for being Prissy about it)
doesn’t cuss while fasting during ramadan and if he accidentally does he’ll automatically cover his mouth and go “astaghfirullah” like 5 times (again dean bullies him ruthlessly for this)
fasts even when he’s sick against the advice of all the muslim Q&A sites he frequents
type of guy to beam at a hijabi girl in public (mozlem american solidarity but she doesn’t know that)
never misses fajr prayer no matter where they are. he’s prayed in some really weird places/positions before.
makes duaa in both english and broken arabic and owns several editions of the quran in english, simple arabic, and classical arabic.
dreams of the kaaba sometimes
cries while listening to recitations of surat al baqarah (“the cow”) and surat al rahman (“the merciful”)
TL;DR he’s a more pious muslim than I ever was lol. I like to take the spark of magic I used to feel as a child on long ramadan nights after iftar with my family and let it run through sam’s entire being. or whatever <3

Okay, you see me on that because that's the only thing I have opinions on. I feel like next year is a better bet just because there's near certainty she'll be #1, which she deserves and was unfortunately not gonna happen if she declared this year. Her possibly getting the natty like she wants and getting more experience and media attention now that cc is gone is a positive too but I feel like people think there's no shot at them winning so they're complaining about everything I guess they think this season will make her draft stock lower or something idk the only thing everyone agrees on is that she don't be aggressive enough but no one agrees on what to do about it hence the fighting. I think the disconnect could be that some people are coming at it from a Paige focused point and others from a general Uconn focused point if that makes sense idk how to explain it better. Which I get because I got invested through Paige so I'm definitely interested in her and seeing her be great, but she doesn't win unless the team wins.
i think (and full respect to charli my texas sister) if paige had been allowed to do a one and done like they do in the men’s game, she would’ve been the #1 pick in the 2021 draft
uconn dropped in the final four that year to arizona, she did not win a natty. she STILL would have gone #1, and i’m sure you can find me a number of ppl who agree on that.
i think there is very little paige can do to lower her draft stock other than get injured again (astaghfirullah)
i’m always gonna come at shit from a uconn perspective bc i’m a uconn fan before i even knew paige existed, but i can’t help but honestly think they’re the same thing here
like teams already know paige is a dominant point guard. they knew her ability to pace the floor and distribute the ball YEARS ago, they knew it coming out of HIGH SCHOOL. she’s displaying smth now that a lot of #1/top picks in the last couple of years have really lacked and that’s versatility. obviously, paige is not going to be a big when she gets to the league - she’s hardly one now. but her off ball movement, her defensive game, geno is putting all of that on display. so, yes, it helps uconn win, because PAIGE BEING ON THE FLOOR helps uconn win. but it also increases her draft stock imo.

Any opinions on the integration of Inshallah and related terms and phrases into modern shitposting lingo?
I've addressed this before. I don't mind it and most Muslims don't mind it either since it's become so normalized around social media that some see it as an effective way to introduce the Islamic religion to non-Muslims. After all, Islam is not a closed religion.
With that said, I do think that the joke has been done to death that I just don't find them funny. You either hear "Inshallah" or variants of it, such as " Alhmadulillah or Astaghfirullah." and it's just the same joke or meme. For a Muslim, those jokes are basic and barebones as opposed to how jokes are being shared in Muslim spaces. Futhermore, there's also the issue of Non-Muslims not utilising the terms in their proper context, which makes them kinda... embarrassing, haha. For example, some will just add "Inshallah" at the end without knowing what the term means, hoping for it to deliver somehow.
