Astarion sat with a book, trying to ignore Asmodea as she perched next to him, loudly crunching on an apple. It was proving to be impossible to concentrate under her inquisitive stare.  “Yes?” he said, sighing.  “So does pussy taste like ash to you?”  Astarion wrinkled his nose in distaste.  “Must you be so crass?”  “You’re really going to continue the ‘uptight noble’ act after last night?” she said with a smirk. “And I’m actually being considerate, not crass – it was only after that I remembered vampire tastebuds have certain quirks.” She shifted where she sat. “I wouldn’t shove your face into an ash tray,” she said, sounding almost apologetic, before biting into the apple again.   “Very well,” Astarion said, shutting his book. “No, pussy tastes like pussy. And yours tastes like-”  “The finest nectar, ambrosia of the gods, blah blah,” she interrupted him with a dismissive wave of her hand, talking with her mouth full. “But why?” 

Don't mind me, just writing asinine dialogue that serves absolutely no purpose other than making me giggle, per usual.

A weakness I remember in my public school education in the northeast USA is that it was clear on what the US Civil War was fought over (slavery) but it didn't actually explain why.

Like, really really WHY.

I don't mean the obvious human rights issue of slavery. If anyone is enslaved it should be intuitive to a decent human being that action needs to be taken to secure their freedom. What wasn't discussed in detail was why people were enslaved.

And by 'why' I am not stopping at 'to do work on plantations'; we read about that and saw pictures in our textbooks of how people were packed in on slave ships and tortured with beatings and giant metal collars because it wasn't a choice 'to work on plantations.' I mean like, why human beings who DID choose things, decided to commit to enslaving other human beings.

The answer to that is that wealthy people liked slavery and didn't want to give it up.

Not just in the sense that it's cheaper to not pay someone than to pay them. The obvious inequality suits the wealthy landed class; they won't be removed except by force, and they keep slaves, so to exist in proximity all people must then adopt some kind of framework to subdue natural empathy for other human beings or else just... be unable to tolerate reality.

If you can get people to accept that 'some people are slaves', and that's the normal way of the world, you can get them to accept basically anything.

don't make me say it (i'm saying it): where i live there are three different public library systems with a total of fifteen branches, all union under the afl-cio, in not one of them is signing people up for library cards part of the job description of any librarian, and in the one i worked in specifically it was never, ever, not once that i worked there performed by any librarian. we don't call it librarians day for a reason

90s au where stobin and Gareth and Eddie meet at a bar. How do they meet? Arguing over the bar’s sonic the hedgehog game. For months the two pairs have been playing it separate nights. Eddie and Gareth on Fridays (usually they have gigs on Saturdays) Steve and Robin on Saturdays (the Official start of their Saturdays nights). Both pairs unknowingly having vendettas against each other for the leader board (never the top spot, they accept they aren’t that good and it’s always headed by some guy called jargyle<3)

Anyway one weekend corroded coffin have a gig on a Friday so gareth and Eddie decide to keep their tradition alive but move it along to Saturday. They arrive at their usual time and set up shop at the game, quickly devolving into their routine of each others nicknames, Eddie being Sonic and Gareth being Tails. They are getting In The Zone when Steve and Robin arrive, absolutely OUTRAGED that somebody is at THEIR game and not only that! They’ve stolen THEIR names, Steve is Sonic, Robin is Tails. They plant themselves in a booth and order drinks, ready to pounce on the machine as soon as those two imposters move.

Only they end up maybe drinking more than expected, possibly riling each other up to the point of storming over to the two guys because how dare they steal Steve and Robins Saturday night ritual?! Their names! Maybe even their high score!

Gareth and Eddie are heading towards drunk themselves, losing more money to the machine than they can justify and over the top celebrating when they clear a level. Which is when Robin taps Eddie on the shoulder, spinning him round to explain Just How Rude he’s being with Gareth standing just behind Eddie’s shoulder, sipping his beer and squinting at Steve who is giving Scary Dog behind Robin. Gareth is maybe further gone than he realises because in the middle of Robin’s speech (which is very eloquent and impressive he must admit) he’s whisper shouting in Eddie’s ear ‘hey dude major hottie behind the cool lesbian. Want me to wing man you?’

And Eddie? Eddie slides his eyes over to ‘major hottie’ who happens to have the fluffiest hair and sharpest jawline he’s ever seen and whisper shouts back to Gareth because he too, is more drunk than he possibly wants to admit, ‘oh my god he’s so hot man, I think he might be a meringue. Menagerie? Mirage!’ And goes to extend a hand towards Steve.

Robin, now slightly endeared from being noted as a cool lesbian, turns to look at Steve who has his Loverboy Game Face on and figures she can swing this display of bad flirting into an opportunity to get her Saturday Night Ritual back on track. Nothing is getting in the way of her playing Sonic with Steve, it might just be a little detoured along the way.

I'm very curious, what kind of animation program do you use?

I personally also animate and use a program called Blender, it's both good for 2D and 3D animation and is both friendly for beginners and more experienced people, once you start understanding all of the controls

(Also, your animations look amazing and I love your content!)

ooh okay, so if you'd asked me this about two or three months ago i would have said procreate, (which is actually what i still used for this one bc i procrastinated trying other programs even after i snagged them... oof.)

anyway a few months back i was introduced to a program called toonsquid, which is an ipad app. it's probably one of the most intuitive (for a procreate user anyway) animation apps i've ever seen. i've never really got on well with flipaclip no matter how hard i tried, so i was blown away by the capabilities of toonsquid in comparison (i was even able to transfer a brush or two into it, tho i did have to manually edit them so they would behave). that's what i used for the animation i just posted.

it's paid, but i personally don't mind that since it's a one time purchase atm and not a subscription model. there are a bunch of youtube videos out there for tutorials too, so i've been having a great time now that i finally gave in and swapped. i've heard a lot about blender over the years, but since i do basically everything on my ipad i've never had the chance to test it.

(thank you btw!! they're definitely not where i want them to be yet, but swapping to a program that actually imports audio has been a godsend ;; lipsync is so much easier that it hurts lol)

honestly there've been more rodent-related asks than sans asks, so i'm not too bothered! it's just people being curious and playing into ebony's caginess regarding all that, especially since it would make sense to assume he's closer with his brother than the other characters he's talked about. i think most folks are generally understanding the This Aint About Him vibes i'm putting out, but they're also just responding to some of my own cues which i certainly can't find issue with ;>

after this next one that's just gonna be a funny lil one-word de-escalation i'll probably still dial back on answering the ones that aren't relevent to ebony specifically, just to try to move The Lore along more smoothly. same with all the rodent talk lol

also its important to remember that even tho it probably looks like i'm getting a lot of things about the same topic, i'm still the one choosing which questions to answer! i have other options, but i generally go for the ones that I can make interesting via worldbuilding, Funny, or story/character hints. i only bring this up because i imagine the official Q&A likely had similar logic- god KNOWS toby got wayyyy more questions for that than i have within the last two weeks lmao (also there was only 1 question about sans in that anyway???)

Oh ya I’ve heard Türkiye is having some elections today, how’s that going? :D

it’s on sunday!!! ive spent the entirety of this morning crying over election coverage LOL. this is the single most important event of my life. yk how every politician says the next election is the most important one so everyone should go out n vote? thats the situation here but quite literally.

on one hand you have islamic extremists (erdoğan. one of the “parties” that support him is literally formed from an extremist cult. the only reason they haven’t all been put on trial is bc erdoğan supports them and he’s only got the extremists’ support left. and also bc years back he declared a nationwide state of emergency and quickly passed multiple laws in succession where. he’s no longer the prime minister but “the sole leader” of turkey. yeah)

and on the opposition there’s a coalition of 6 parties, literally all the major left parties with some nationalists, with their joint candidate kılıçdaroğlu. CHP (the main opposition party) has been center left lately, but its the actual fuckin party that first turned turkey into a republic from a sultanate. its huge. compared to US politics the average left wing party is actually pretty fuckin left here LOL. and they havent won the govt since 1950s (last peaceful n prospering decades of turkey) AND. THEY ACTUALLY STAND A CHANCE. all the polls point towards kılıçdaroğlu winning the elections

and you have no idea how bad it’s been here for the last few years. god. there’s so many shit thats wrong in the country because of the current government. civillians getting arrested for tweets criticizing erdogan, not being able to afford anything, being unable to pay your rent, erdogan (WITH HIS SINGULAR DECISION) withdrawing from the istanbul convention, the femicides being the highest it has ever been since the entire history of the turkey, murdered religious minorities and murdered journalists, tens of thousands of people left alone to die after the earthquakes back in february. its pretty fucking scary living here unless you’re a cishet sunni muslim man.

everyone i know that can afford it has been fleeing the country. sometimes it feels like thats the only option you have unless you want to get killed as a 20 something year old trying to make ends meet. i’m only 20 yo myself and the past 8 years has brought me and everyone under 30 to such a place where the only thing we feel about the future is hopelessness. i feel like ive aged 10 years in the last year alone and i bet anyone thats lived under a similar govt can relate. my countrys politics alone has been robbing me of my youth and my will to live.

AND. DESPITE ALL OF THAT. i have hope for the very first time. i have hope for a better future now bc of the opposition candidate and i have faith in him to deliver his promises. everything thats happened since january he’s been dealing with with grace, and him + mayors from his party actually do shit.

so yeah. the entire course of turkey is gonna change this sunday. if we were to lose this would be the last democratic elections held (the last elections held, period) before erdoğan fully converted the country into an autocracy, and when kılıçdaroğlu wins its gonna become a socialist state, as socialist as it’s ever been since the 1950s. pretty fuckin big stakes
