Newcomer here and i just finished nightfall, wanted to share because i saw your fics. Unwanted confessions, and idk if you've received these kinds before: dn series made me feel old. These characters mature so fast and were so sexualised since they were young, and later on being only in their mid 20s, acting as if the world will collapse just because they dont have kids or make babies at 24. They gave me white christian religious parents trauma frfr. Their obsession of being liberal but gender roles still being so conservative put the feminism movement back to 200 years ago, i fucking hate every characters in this series except for emory, frfr. Like they can be dark romance rich billionaires and have amazing char arcs but what the fuck was that series? Dn made me believe, rich white privilege people and blonds are really THAT fucking stupid. I'd like to go to the US just to see blond white privileged americans act like rika & winter frfr.

oh, And that wuss ass "lover" guy will grayson who "claimed" to love emory scott so much (🙄) reach out to her yada yada, while fucking around with other women and having threesomes here and there so easily, it was NOT swoony or romantic. He's cheap as fuck, i hate manwhore male characters like him so fucking much. And they just excuse his shit because he was pining for emory, as if he fucking deserves her or somthing. I swear, will grayson does not deserve emory scott, but thats my unpopularopinion. if he had cared enough about emmy, he shouldve fought for her harder. Urgh, i hate weak male characters, such a turn off. All that nightfall plot happening only because he was the weakest of them, yikes. Cant believe he was only ever a man with emory, it's giving "she's only tough when a man saves her" trope, but in reverse, and oh, what does that looks like? Rika fane and winter ashby's arcs! Rika, winter and will, three dumbest characters of the series, frfr. No wonder damon liked them, theyre so similar with one another. Emory scott's patience is truly better than mine.

And Dont even get me started with alex. I hate her in noghtfall. Why did pd butcher her charcter like that? I was shocked, girl! Shocked! Not even banks and rika who treated her like shit initially got a slap, and emmy who didnt even bother got one? In a conversation thats not even about her? The fuck? Where's the girl's girl personality at? Out the window now that her love life with aydin was threathened? Wow. Worse is, they're friends (emmy alex).... i hate pd for this, they just cannot write two pretty female friends who thrive. They always make their male caharcters have amazing bonds with each other, but all fmcs had some sort of internalised misogynistic catfights. If pd can give us willdamon, they can give us rikalaex, banksemmy, alexemmy amazing female frienships alright. Pd just chose not to. And notice how all of their other books, the girls were always around men, but no amazing same-age female presence in their live? Even emmy admitted she was not familiar around woman. Like?? She had amazing relationship with her mom and grandma was compared to the rest no? Why cant we have at least this in this whole disgusting male worshipping series? Istg, there was no reason for pd to build up a powerful and empowering worldbuilding for a women like the horsemen's wives but only to make their same teachers to be men, who never had to know what it feels like to struggle as a woman, ESPECIALLY in their society in thunder bay? This happened in birthday girl, in fall away, misconduct, like??? Its a pattern atp. I hate it. If you have any book recs thathave amazing female relationship between women, please do share, i need some cleansing from all these stupid male chars.

Other than that, i guess i shouldnt have ever expected monogamy or exclusivity in relationships when it comes to pd's books too. These chars are all so overly touchy. I heard about the rikabanks bonus, and it ruined hideaway and corrupt for me. Because why is banks whole ass personality about being jealous of rika, being so caught with damon and kai, AFTER A WHOLE DECADE. does she not have a fucking hobby or go to therapy or something? Stupid as hell. And why is rika being in the centre a.fucking.gain. God, shes dull af, pd just stop! What also pisses me off even more is when people can freely kiss and touch will (like alex, winter to will in killswitch and noghtfall train scene), but god forbid emmy had the same attention or touchesfrom other men, that bitchass grayson starts to act up, as if he fought for her life or something. Fuck him honestly, atleast damon admitted he was a literal piece of shit. I hate people and chars like will because theyre so hypocritical. Never in a million years i would expect to hate will in his own book, but god damn, he really really ruined nightfall for me. Not a single redeeming quality to that fucker. He made me swore so much. I already hated him for his treatment to rika banks and winter in the previous books, and now him with emmy? And just watching emmy getting hurt again again again, not only by her world and herself, but also by will, by his own friends, and by the people associated to his world like aydin and taylor, and never standing by her side through it all? Yea. No. Fuck man, i hate will grayson so much. I wouldve given up on him by the end of the train scene, ngl.

At least in haunting adeline, zade meadows did what he said. Damon was just the guy thatblabbers too much, but do nothing. And even when he had plans, its always with someone else's help? Huh? Cant believe they compared zade to damon. Theyre both scums, but at least zade had creds, and then theres damon, the bland no-skills wolf-like guy.. ughhhh 🤮🤢 i hate when author tries to use shock value to hide their awful arcs, because damon torrance and rika fane were two of their mostshitty ass chars arcs written so far. Plus michael. Michael was like a standee to his friends, but thats a whole nother topic.

Honestly, I have inadvertently cultivated a place for people to send their anonymous rants, so I guess why not? It’s fine.

To be perfectly honest, though, there’s not a lot for me to reply to.

First, thank you so much for reading my fics! And for hating them 5% less that the series. I’m going to take it as a compliment. If it wasn’t meant that way, then let me live in delusion.

Of course, the characters in my fics are a bit more idealized. I write them the way I wanted them to be, which if you read other portions of my blog, is far from what PD has given us. That’s fine, they own the characters; they can write them however they want. But I wrote something that was self-indulgent and soothed over the parts of the series that hurt the most for me, or that I felt were the most intriguing. I wrote them for me first, and posted them in case it helped anyone else. I’m happy that people enjoy them, but I know they’re not everyone’s tastes.

Second, I guess I’ll say I’m sorry about Nightfall. The sour feeling of being let down, I think, is one that most of us are familiar with here.

Ummm. I do think it’s a little weird that you’ve read multiple PD books, and even finished the DN series… especially since you were looking forward to Will. Because I hated Will for the first three books and if I weren’t curious about Emory, I wouldn’t have finished the series at all. I also find it equally weird that your first impulse after finishing a series you hate is to go to the tag of the character you hated the most? I mean, I’ve definitely clicked on hot-takes I know I’m going to disagree with and hate-read things, but it’s not my go-to.

I’m sure the Emory tag is lovely.

I haven’t read any of PDs other books, so I don’t know how they compare.

Maybe if you were to poll everyone who has ever read the series, that would be an unpopular opinion, but I think if you look back about six months on this blog, you’ll probably find a dozen or so messages almost exactly like this. So, around these parts, it’s not such an unpopular opinion. I think most people who message me probably feel the exact same way.

But I’ve already written essays of poorly done character analysis to defend Will, Emory, their relationship, and his relationship with others. There’s not much for me to add to that without just restating myself. I share some of the same opinions as you, and some different ones. I don’t think your thoughts and feelings are very unpopular at all.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had a lot of time to read lately, so all of my recommendations would be old. When I do have the time, I’ve been rereading stuff.

I also don’t have KU, so I’m not familiar with the catalog. I had it at one point, specifically to read Nightfall, and afterward I started a lot of different series, but there wasn’t a lot that caught my attention. I’m sure there are a lot of KU readers with blogs around that would be able to offer you a rec.

I have recently reread the English version of Hana Yori Dango, or Boys Over Flowers. One thing I noted was how amazing the female relationships are. They’re so positive, even when the girls are conflicted. It’s a manga, 37 volumes long, so of course it would take a diagram or a PowerPoint to break down how this is, but it was something I really appreciated on this read through. The girls are all very different, too, without feeling like they're cardboard cut-outs. If you’re at all interested in manga, and I know not everyone is so no worries, I highly recommend it. It’s honestly a superior take on the “4 rich boys who cause trouble” and their romances.

I’ve also been rereading Sempre, which I mentioned before. That’s sort of a mafia romance, but I would categorize it as dark. I’ve been noting how supportive the female relationships are there as well. I’ve really been enjoying that this time around.

And that brings me to a TV show, actually. I’ve mentioned it and reblogged a lot of Leverage stuff, but it truly is a comfort show for me. Parker sits very close to Emory in my heart, and I had hoped that Emory would have some of the same opportunities to develop relationships that Parker had. Parker’s relationship with Sophie is so interesting and nice to watch unfold.

In fact, something I haven’t said before because I don’t think anyone would understand it, is that I had hoped that Alex would become more like a Terra-type character. For anyone interested, here’s an episode. You’d need Amazon to watch it, but it’s probably free somewhere anyway.

Anyway, that’s all I got right now. I truly am sorry that it was such a bad experience for you. You’re welcome to stick around, but I’m sure since you hated so much, you’re ready to move on after unloading like that. But it’s all good either way. I hope you’re on to better and better things.

‼️ Attention Fob Fan Reading This ‼️

A few weeks ago, I posted the fourth annual fob census asking you all to answer a bunch of evil questions regarding fall out boy, and after getting 1.3k (!!!!!) responses, the results are finally in (below the 'keep reading'). I wanted to quickly say thank you to everybody who participated in this, it's so fun to do every year and it makes me so happy to see so many others enjoy it too!! Without further adieu, here are the results:

Disclaimers: Quickly I just wanted to warn that this is a long post- it's worth reading, the results are very interesting! But it's also a lot to get through, be prepared for that! Secondly, tumblr loves to destroy image quality- click on the image to see it better!

Question 1:

For the first question, you were simply asked what era you became a fan. The top 3 results were, as shown: 1. Save Rock And Roll Era (345 Responses) 2. American Beauty/American Psycho Era (268 Responses) 3. During The Hiatus (132 Responses) Not much to say about this one, every year the results are very similar. Most interesting is that over 100 people have become a fan in the last year!

Question 2:

The second question asked you for your favorite era, and the results were, as shown: 1. So Much (For) Stardust Era (550 Responses) 2. Infinity On High Era (191 Responses) 3. Save Rock And Roll Era (170 Responses) The impact of the newest era is clearly seen in this question! Some could say it's recency bias, only time will tell, but regardless smfs era absolutely dominates as peoples favorite!

Question 3:

Question three asked what your favorite album was, and this was one where I was incredibly interested to see if so much (for) stardust shook things up that much... And as shown in the top responses, it did not! 1. Folie A Deux (550 Responses) 2. Infinity On High (270 Responses) 3. From Under The Cork Tree (153 Responses) Last year, the order of the results was exactly the same. As I believe it has been every year... Folie is unbeatable

Question 4:

The next question asked for you to objectively say which fob album is the best, to see if the responses between favorite and best differed, and as you can see, they did: 1. So Much (For) Stardust (457 Responses) 2. Folie A Deux (389 Responses) 3. Infinity On High (297 Responses) It's so interesting to me to see that so many people believe stardust to be fob's best album, but even then do not consider it to be their favorite.

Question 5:

Now that we've gotten the favorite/best albums out of the way, it's time for least favorite/worst, with these being your least favorite fob albums: 1. Take This To Your Grave (375 Responses) 2. American Beauty/American Psycho (371 Responses) 3. Mania (308 Responses) Most interesting about these results, to me, are how much the top three responses sweep in comparison to the rest. While for the last two questions, the results were more spread, these are much more unanimous.

Question 6:

Question six asked for the objective worst fob album, and you responded as so: 1. Take This To Your Grave (517 Responses) 2. Mania (347 Responses) 3. American Beauty/American Psycho (328 Responses) All I have to add here is that the responses are even More unanimous... Tttyg sweep ig! fdjsnf

Going away from albums, the next question asked for your favorite EP, and you all responded as such: 1. Lake Effect Kid (404 Responses) 2. Pax AM Days (337 Responses) Last year, lake effect kid was second and my heart was first- always very interesting to see how things shift, even slightly!

Question 8:

The next question had you saying your favorite album cover art, and you all decided these are the best covers: 1. Infinity On High (664 Responses) 2. Folie A Deux (195 Responses) 3. From Under The Cork Tree (176 Responses) I was very interesting to see where smfs would land, with it falling in the bottom half, not disrupting the top three at all. However, folie moved up a spot, swapping with futct. Ioh reigns supreme though!

Ginasfs (65 Responses) 5. 27 (55 Responses) I have many thoughts about these results and don't want to ramble too much, but will say, most interesting: This is the first time disloyal order isn't first for this question. A big change, I think!

We know now your subjective fav songs, but what about objective best? You all said: 1. So Much (For) Stardust (244 Responses) 2. Headfirst Slide (136 Responses) 3. "From Now On We Are Enemies" (49 Responses) 3. You're Crashing, But You're No Wave (47 Responses) 4. Rat A Tat (40 Responses) 5. It's Not A Side Effect = Heaven's Gate This question changed a lot from last year, with sunshine riptide moving up three spots, and rat a tat, it's not a side effect, and heaven's gate showing up when they didn't before!

Question 13:

With underrated songs come overrated ones, and you all said these were the most overrated: 1. Centuries (330 Responses) 2. Sugar, We're Goin' Down (96 Responses) 3. My Songs Know (87 Responses) 4. Bang The Doldrums (67 Responses) 5. Immortals (62 Responses) Most of note- Bang the doldrums is here, when it simultaneously was voted pretty highly as a favorite song!

Haven't Seem Them Live Yet (353 Responses) 3. 4-6 Times (138 Responses) 4. 7-9 Times (42 Responses) 5. 10+ Times (37 Responses) Last year, a majority of people said they hadn't seen them live, so it makes me really happy to see now, a majority has! And i hope those that haven't get to soon!

Continuing with the tour theme, specific to this year, I asked what your favorite medley song was, and you all said: 1. Spotlight (New Regrets) (272 Responses) 2. Byakuya is an important figure in many senses, but especially because of his relationship with Rukia and his character development.

or; i write a byakuya character analysis and you read it!

Byakuya is a prideful and very wise character, he is the captain of the 6th division and the head of the Kuchiki Clan at the time of the story. He is far more over-hated than deserved at the beginning of the Soul Society arc, as many people see him just for how he treated Ichigo and Rukia, letting his sister go on to be executed rather shamelessly.

However, part of the reason for Byakuya being so cold when Rukia returned to the soul society was his late wife, and Rukia’s older sister, Hisana. She was a commoner from a crime-ridden district. Byakuya had broken the rules just by marrying her, which affected Byakuya’s prideful image of himself. It wasn’t long before she had fallen ill with no chance of saving her.

Her final wish before she passed was for Byakuya to treat Rukia as his younger sister, and to let her call him brother. This can be seen in chapter 179, where he tells Rukia about her sister and the reason for his distance and coldness towards her since she had been brought in and returned from the living world. “Marrying somebody from the Rukongai was against our laws. Many in the family resisted. They said it would sully our reputation.”

Byakua believed he was letting his family down by marrying a commoner and then proceeding to bring in Rukia, “that is why after I took you in, I swore at the graves of my parents that I would never again break the law. I swore from then on I would uphold it whatever the cost.” That cost is his relationship with Rukia. He was both cold and distant to the young soul reaper, purposely keeping her out of a seated position within the Gotei 13 before Ichigo’s arrival.

Jumping back just three chapters before 179, in 176 and 177 Byakuya saves Rukia from Gin, taking a sword to the chest. This in itself is a big growth for his character as he moves past his barriers. Should he uphold his parents' wish and the law or his late wife's wish? He chooses the latter, thanking Ichigo indirectly as Rukia and Unohana sit at the injured Captain's side after the battle.

Both Ichigo and Byakuya learned from each other, Byakuya especially in their second fight during chapters 152 and onward. Ichigo is confronted by Byakuya, who asks why he is so insistent on saving her, Ichigo seems surprised by this, asking Byakuya questions of his own.

“There's something I want to know myself. Aren’t you Rukia’s brother? Why won't you save her?!” (153)

Byakuya does little to answer him, brushing off the question claiming Ichigo would not understand regardless if he told him, which most certainly has something to do with Byakuya’s views on laws, his honor, and his pride. Ichigo however does not let up and continues to bite at Byakuya’s pride and honor, “Execute your own sister? That's twisted. I don't give a crap about your sense of duty or your honor. I won't let you say that in front of Rukia ever again.” (160)

“Your so-called honor demands that you kill Rukia. If that's the case then stepping on your honor is the reason I achieved bankai!” (162)

“The Kuchiki are one of the four great noble houses. We have to set an example for all soul reapers, if we do not uphold the law… who will?” (167)

After the battle Byakuya realizes just how far Ichigo was willing to go, telling Byakuya if he were in his place, he would fight the law, and fight to save Rukia even if it meant going against what he stood for. After Ichigo says this to him, Byakuya pauses for a moment, reminded briefly of Kaien Shiba, “I was never his enemy. He's been fighting the laws of the soul society. He’s similar, to the one whose ferocity I found distasteful”

This turns Byakuya away as he gives up on his pursuit of Rukia, giving Ichigo the battle.

“Your ferocity has broken my sword. I will pursue Rukia no more. The battle is yours”

His defeat to Ichigo was one of the most important things when it came to building his character. It let him rediscover himself and the love he held for those closest to him. He had severed his relationship with Rukia, placing the law above her. Hearing Ichigo speak so strongly he once again remembers the freedom and enjoyment that came with placing those closest to him above all.

Another important fight within the series would be Byakua’s fight with Zommari, the 7th Espada. After coming to Rukia’s aid, saving her from being finished off after her own battle, Byakuya takes on Zommari. Across the duration of the fight, Zommari takes over Rukia, aiming her blade at her throat, to which Byakuya binds her in place–keeping her from further harm. By the end of the fight, Zommari is furious with Byakuya, saying he had no right as a Soul Reaper to slay hollows

“What makes you think I'm acting as a soul reaper? I'm going to slay you because you aimed your blade at my pride.” (302)

That pride being Rukia.

The seventh Espada acts as a parallel to Byakuya during the earlier chapters, Zommari is blinded by his power and pride, and Byakuya even tells Zommari that the reason he had lost was due to his arrogance. The fight shows more growth between the two, the pride is no longer his strength but his love for Rukia and so when Zommari threatens to kill her, Byakuya strikes him down.

He didn’t kill the Espada because it was his duty as a soul reaper, but rather his duty as a brother.

At the beginning of the Quincy invasion, Byakuya is up against the Sternritter Äs Nödt, who holds the power of fear. Fear wasn’t something present in Byakua’s mind, as when he had become a captain and the looming burden of leading the Kuchiki Clan, fear was something he had to suppress. As a Soul Reaper, one cannot fear a battle, as it is their duty, so when Äs Nödt presents this concept of fear Byakuya is mistaken.

“Fear..? That is absurd. There is no battle without fear, I've overcome it every time I survived a life-or-death situation” (501) He believes it is something he has already overcome. While he may have, the true thing he fears is losing the person he cares most about, Rukia. The image of Rukia that Äs Nödt implants into him causes Byakuya to freeze, leading to his ultimate defeat.

Later, further into TYBW, there is another big jump in Byakuya’s character as he encounters Äs Nödt again, while Rukia is the one fighting. When he arrives, he catches Nödt by surprise, weakening the Sternritter as he goes on to praise her, “Rukia, as I was coming down here I kept feeling your spiritual pressure. You’ve become strong Rukia.” this praise also comes from a place of acknowledgment, Byakuya had overcome his fears and insecurities, which made it clear how Rukia felt. it was easier to acknowledge that Rukia had never felt properly acknowledged for her strength by her brother, though this changes during this fight.

“My brother... my brother thinks I've… become strong” (569).

During this panel, it is easy to tell that his words have a large impact on her as tears form in her eyes and brief images of the past are visible. Past events in which Byakuya was colder, and less kind to her. Nonetheless, the fight continues, it is brief as Byakuya watches Rukia perform her bankai, leading to more praise from her brother “That was a magnificent bankai, but it’s a difficult bankai. Half a misstep and you lose your life. It’s a perilous bankai. Handle it with caution, never be impatient” (570).

It is clear how much Byakuya has grown to admire her and her capabilities, clear in not only his actions but his words too; “Let’s go Rukia, let’s go protect the soul society” he has swallowed his pride and moved on to treat her as an equal, no longer looking down at her in the eyes of the man he used to be.

Overall, It openly shows the amount of change he went through both as a Captain and a brother.

Victoria is tall, at 176 cm/ 5’9, though she likes to wear heels that add to her height.

Blaine is tall too, at 178 cm/ 5’10, but she/ he doesn’t really care too much about that. (It absolutely irritates Victoria though…)

Elexis is at average height, though he is the shortest out of all the ROs, at 169 cm/ 5’6.

Seraph is the tallest out of everyone, at 184 cm/ 6’0, and they’re pretty used to towering over everyone at this point.

Brooks is around average to tall, at 173 cm/ 5’8, and he thinks it’s a decent height.

MAG 177: Wonderland

So I’ve heard this episode thrown around vaguely and heard about Dr David, who was sone gaslighting doctor but I never really paid attention. But guys holy shit I cannot stress to you all enough on how terrified I was. I was circling my kitchen island and grabbing water every 10 seconds. Something about this freaked me out. The second-person, the way Dr David belittled and threatened and his cherry attitude I hated it. I was shrieking.

But also Helen!!!! <33 I wonder what’s her game, offering Basira a one-way ride to Daisy. It certainly wasn’t out of the kindness of her own heart. Did she want to trap Basira maybe in her hallways? Or did she know Basira would decline and wanted to sow a little seed of distrust in the now trio. I wonder why Basira declined. I thought she would totally abandon Jon and Martin. Either way, crazy episode.

Oh this was depressing. I liked how Martin and Basira made Jon go into the tool closet, I thought that was funny. But damn…Tyler :(((

I also think it’s crazy that people were just…created. The entities can do that?? Just make life?? Or reflections or whatever. Is there no limit? Sorry for all these rhetorical questions, I just have many of them

Also! At one point, Basira asked who is in charge here and Jon said, “Not anyone you’re familiar with. We won’t be meeting them.” And “he’s in the, uh… Main Processing Room.” So now I’m thinking about who could it be. There was a statement about a guy who worked at a slaughterhouse (MAG 30) and Tom Hann was always a big name for The Flesh. I can’t remember if he died though. If he didn’t, then he could be in charge of this factory. I’m just theorizing though.

Emmy might find herself boring, but ive always been a busy body reader so i would eat up everything about her personal and professional life in sf. I still hated will there, but thanks to you i hated him 5% less

KO, you've underestimated a loyal hate reader's journey of hate reading 😂 i love pd's writing and i love some of their books that were not DN because of the chemistry of the main lovers (theyre not bad as many have said actually), but i still hated the ongoing misogynistic dynamic that they always had in their books. Its like having an author that you majorly like what they do, but their side mistakes were big enough to irritate you so you remember them, kinda thing. Do you have these kinds of author that feel like this towards? To answer this simply: pd's books are like worms for brain for me. Like when i read books by Colleen hoover, or hd carlton, sophie lark, lauren asher, or susanne valnti &peckham. It's the kind of toxicity you need from time to time but still get mad and disappointed by your low expectation at their shit ass plot and mfcs and fmcs anyway, yk.

4 thank you so much for your recs, i also actually grew up watching hana yori dongo! I watched the kdrama version too but idk if i'll watch the thai version. I have less patient for dramas now unfortunately, and the last drama i watched was "celebrity" on netflix, and i still havent finished it, even after 3 month ☠️ I used to love kdramas and lee minho was so popular back then, so i also watched him in "the heirs" too. Ohmygod his hairsyles in both dramas (boys over flowers and the heirs) were so funny, but i remember enjoying these stories a lot. I believe these two kdramas were released during the time where kdramas were having a lot more angsty romantic relationship than platonic ones and they both stood out among many others, not only because of lee minho, park shinhye and bunch of k-idols acting there, but also because of the friendships and platonic relationships shown that were fun to watch. It's a break from other dramas like moon embracing the sun, or my love from another star that were romance-heavy, yk. But tbh, i prefer my love from another star and moon embracing the sun more than bof/hyd and the heirs. If there are two recs i'd like to give you, they would be "hotel del luna" and "sky castle". God damn, i cried in every single episode watching these two dramas. They really touched my soul, everything was so good!

Seems like a mafia gang story? I need to be in the mood to be reading mafia stories because my first ones were from reading kpop mafia fanfics from years ago and the latest and the last one were the made series by danielle lori. The made series were entertaining but i noticed that i didnt care much about mafias? Hahahahah idk, and idc much about vampires, and wolf stories either, but i like faes. Not Sarah j maas type of faes, but holly black's and cassandra clare's. The ones that are beautiful, creepy, complicated and loves/have to lie but cant. So yeah, thanks for recommending sempre!

I'll pretend nightfall alex never existed, and nightfall will grayson fucking died a gruesome death, becoming of two stupid selfish best friends who think theyre the only suffering in this world. You know this reminded me of a quote by madeline miller's Circe that really fits will's selfish behaviour especially in blackchurch: “He showed me his scars, and in return he let me pretend that I had none.” thats exctly how i felt throughout blackchurch. Like their stories are not dark romance so tat cleansed me from devils night series a bit, and they are so fun to read! They gave me melanie harlow's vibes. If anyone's interested, i suggest checking out Blindside by Kandi Steiner, Right Move by Liz Tomforde, and all of these four authors backlogs tbh. Kandi Steiner even have like a college frat series? Which i havent checked out but it sounds fun, and its called Palm South University series.

Hey!! Okay. This is very helpful! Thank you for the insight. I’m not a stranger to hate watching/reading and (used to) do it frequently. And I would complain to all my friends about all the horrible stuff that was happening, but they knew I was having a good time.

It’s harder when I don’t really know who I’m talking to, to tell if I should take it seriously or if they’re enjoying the trash like me. We’re completely on the same page in that case so ignore very thing I said about not getting it. If you’re having a good time hating it, I got you!

Oof Alex. Now that I know where you’re coming from, I can completely agree. I’ve been re-reading and analyzing her intro in Nightfall and how weird it was; how it derailed everything in the worse way. Sometimes, when writers are stuck on where to go with a scene or plot, there’s a tactic that’s recommended: have someone walk in with a gun. It causes enough of a upheaval to keep the plot moving. I’m not sure if that was what Alex was supposed to do, but it really didn’t work for me for a lot of reasons.

Yes! She had to work so hard just for a little, and what killed me the most is reading her scenes where she agrees with them.

She has the moments of clarity, where it seems she remembers why she did what she did, and she's not sorry, and that she wasn’t to blame for what happened to Will. Then next minute… she’s back to blaming herself for no reason? I’ve said many times before that Emory’s guilt is misplaced, and at certain times, it can’t be ignored that it was really PD pushing this “Emory deserves this” narrative, but I just can’t jive with it at all. There's a question on her good reads page where she says that she thinks Will is the most justified in his hatred.

And just... no. He's not. Literally none of them were justified in their hatred. They had the right to feel wronged. Sometimes we feel wronged, even if we carry some of the blame for what happened. But to say they were justified is just over the line. I really wish PD had more balance when it come to assigning blame. I think this series would have benefitted if one of the themes of the story was that everyone makes decisions, and right or wrong, we have to living with them. These are the consequences.

Like their stories are not dark romance so tat cleansed me from devils night series a bit, and they are so fun to read!

A Jewish cemetery right near where I used to live, in my city, got vandalized. 176 gravestones damaged, knocked over, broken. That’s 176 people who used to be alive and part of the community. 176 families whose loved ones had their place of rest desecrated.

The worst part is, I don’t know whether it was a bunch of right-wing assholes with an antisemitic stick up their ass, or whether it was some sort of misguided leftist act of “resistance”. People say “oh if you’re not a Zionist then you’re safe.” For how long? How long until the window of what’s considered “valid” shifts? How long will it take before Zionist just means “Jew”? Has it happened already?

If they haven’t already, people are going to ask “well, how many people in that cemetery were Zionists?” and then think that the answer is going to make a difference.

hi libelelle! since ur the bird expert, is there a reason why despite being closely related to reptiles most dinosaurs (including birds) are endothermic (warm-blooded) while most reptiles are ectothermic (cold-blooded)? ik dinosaurs being endothermic mostly came from their sheer body mass requiring it (and also why they had feathers), but how did it become so split from reptiles which have primarily remained ectothermic for millions of years?

WOWW this is a really good question and im flattered you'd cme to me to ask it : ] im not technically an expert (YET.) but i can give you an answer!! or at least some interesting info on the topic

first, dinosaurs weren't ALL endothermic, as you know. there is evidence that suggests that many of them were mesothermic (as in, capable of regulating their temperature but not consistently and only to a certain extent) [x] In fact a early birds are believed to have had low metabolic rates as well, being a sort of transistional state between thermal types which allowed the subsequent evolution of flight [x].

the reason for WHY birds are endothermic is debated. Its pretty costly as a strategy, because it relies on burning precious energy to keep the organism heated. As with much of science, there are multiple theories floating around regarding the purpose of endothermy as an adaptation. From what i have gathered from my admittedly hurried and ultimately limited research there are a couple theories that stand out in the debate: one that claims endothermy evolved to expand the organisms thermal niche (basically the temperature range that an organism can tolerate/exists in. apparently not a well defined term [x] if you want to read about that.) and the other claims that it was evolved for increased aerobic capacity (which is basically maximum efficient oxygen usage; this can be a measure of an organism ability to maintian strenuous activity (like. yknow. flying)

A study done on endothermic fish [x] used the repeated evolution of endothermy in Tuna ans their migration into colder waters as evidence for the former, that endothermy evolved as a way to expand an organisms thermal niche. If you ask me, in terms of birds, if we're using this model then likely endothermy evolved in dinosaur ancestors in order to expand from warmer regions into colder region. Dinosaurs existed over a very long period of time, evolving something like 230 mya, and during the time they were alive there was a lot of things happening climate wise (pangaea splitting for example) so theres no doubt that there would have been opportunities for organisms to expand their niche into these new conditions. This is just me spitballing though, im no expert.

On the other side of the coin, one study compared 176 species to study the evolution of metabolic rates[x], which came up with some evidence supporting the aerobic model. Admittedly a lot of this went over my head (i am still learning) but essentially this study provided evidence to the mechanism of the evolution of endothermy under this model. definitely saving this article so that i cant read it thouroughly when i don't have school lighting a fire under my ass. This study aside, in the context of birds, having a high metabolism/aerobic capacity is major for birds, because flying is a very energy intensive skill. Flying requires that they both use oxygen extremely efficiently (look up the respiration system of birds some time. theyre olympic gold medalists in breathing) and that they can use energy efficiently as well. The aerobic model explains the evolution of endothermy in the context of being able to maintain such intense activity so often. The study that proposed this WOULD be really interesting to read but i'm having troubles getting to it thanks to paywalls. growl. heres the link anyways, if you want to look at it [x]. ALSO an interesting theory I saw suggests that the advantage of endothermy arose as an adaptation for caring for ones offspring [x], something that being active and warm gives enormous benefits to. Basically, because endothermy allows a bird to control the incubation temps of their eggs and allows for an organism to be more active, endothermy guarentees higher sucess hatching and feeding their chicks. and since reproductive sucess is one of if not the most important thing when it comes to evolution, endothermy evolves in order to facilitate this.

X-men short summarize. (Part one)

The relationship of Scott Summers and Madelyne Pryor.

Hello everybody today, I will be shortly summarizing some of the moments of the relationship and marriage of Madelyne Pryor and Scott summers (Cyclops) I will be going through issue #168 (skip 169)-176 at their honeymoon, enjoy the cutest relationship yet most complicated ever!

Uncanny x-men 168

Our story begins in Anchorage, Alaska(the birthplace of Scott Summers) the Summers family consisting of Scott, Alex (Brothers), and Christopher Summer(Father) arrive at the airport to meet Scott and Alex's grandparents. Suddenly Scott drops at the sight of a beautiful woman who has an uncanny similarity to Jean Grey saying she's there to pick up the Summers family. Scott is beyond shocked by her resemblance to Jean, his mind rushing with emotions and thoughts of who she is. The woman then formally introduces herself as Madelyne Pryor.

Uncanny x-men 170-

Off screen: Presumably the next few weeks the two meet and talk, slowly falling in love with each other, until Scott asks her to be his girlfriend.

The next time we see them is In Reindeer Falls, the new happy couple dance the night away. As they dance even when the music stops, being as happy as the couple could be.

But unfortunately, Scott doubts, and his mind rises up, The uncanny resemblance still bothering his mind of this woman he fell in love with. He starts pushing Madelyne away, feeling guilty for pursuing a new relationship. Madelyne, seemingly concerned, and worried about her new partner asks what's wrong and Scott tells her about Jean, even pulling a picture of his old lover to his new lover, and handing it to her, this revaluation shocks Madelyne, as she sees a woman who looks like her, She then starts to take it in, affecting her a bit from the photograph.

Scott decides his feelings for Madelyne are real and he wants to be with her, enjoying her company, maybe it's time for him to move on. After a few more moments of silence, the two reconnect, with Madelyne, asking if the bond growing between them is actually real or not. They decide to start dancing again.

Cutscene to Madelyne and Scott, having a more intimate moment, and the sun flashing, in Madelyne's face, she attempts to steal Scott's shades, with Scott quickly reacting defensively, smacking her hand, and quivering away. This enraged Madelyne, and quickly demanded answers from Scott saying they knew each other for weeks yet she still hadn't seen him without those shades! Scott finally though hesitantly tells Madelyne that he is a mutant and shows her his optic blast power by shooting a coin, he asks her if she still wants to stay with him in she responds for him to stay with her as they hug it out in the end.

Uncanny X-men 171

In her home in Alaska Madelyne is struggling in her sleep, soon she awakes from a terrible nightmare, one that makes her tear up, and calls for Scott for an embrace that could comfort her nightmares. After a bit of comfort, she explains that she was dreaming about a plane crash she survived. Everyone else on board died, and she was the sole survivor of the crash, but there was a key detail Madelyne added which bewildered Scott, raising further suspicion he had. The plane crashed not just on the same day, but at the same moment that Jean Grey died!

Uncanny X-Men 172

Scott with his suspicion growing off the charts, sneaks into his grandfather's office in the Northstar airlines and digs through files filled with North Star employees' information. He has found Madelyne Pryor's file. He believes Madelyne is more connected to Jean Grey since more and more moments are happening for him to believe this cause, like their first date when she said she read minds or her refusal to talk about her past. Scott's brother, Alex, shows up asking what Scott is doing and asking him if it's worth destroying the relationship he has with Madelyne, in which Scott reeks of desperation and demands the truth about this woman.
