That would be genius! Im so intrigued by the way they’re realigning this series for the show. It’s one of the only good adaptations (of a book/series) I’ve watched in a very long time and I’m so pleased by everyone involved.

I originally was scared but I feel these people truly love the series the way fans do. It’s refreshing

I know right, and I've been seeing Amel's name be thrown out in discussions from book fans, that he is influencing Lestat and that also makes so much sense. But yes going with the idea that drinking Akasha's blood has given him uncontrollable rage or Amel controlling him or both makes the drop scene so much more bearable for me. Because while it doesn't excuse it, it goes a long way to bridgering the gap between book Lestat and tv Lestat. Because at the end of the day it's an adaptation and I understand by making Louis not insufferable like in the books, things were gonna have to be changed. But considering how strongly Lestat felt in the books about harming Louis and how adamant he was that he could never do it. Them changing that in the tv show never sat right with me. However I think if it's because of Askasha's blood, or Amel or both than it could really work.

For me it's one of the best adaptions out there, and it stems from them reading the source material and being fans of it. The amount of showrunners that don't like the source material of their respective show or movie is mind blogging.

i just remembered that torgal and clive both absorb eikonic aether. clive's been around jill more than any other eikon how come he doesn't have shiva powers.

wait what. but it's mentioned several times in the game that charon does business across the whole continent and has clients everywhere. we do sidequests about all the clients she's had from the black... thorn? ones about the leather armor she sold and the sword she sold to that dhalmekien noble collector.

"The lights!" yells Clive and Gav scrambes to knock out a braizer inside the cove. meanwhile the entry to the cove is lines with braziers. the graphics team and writing team did not communicate. so barnaby or whatever his name is went for quantity over quality this time. shame i would have liked a proper round 2 with sleipnir.

uh maybe gav should have been the one to find jill, he's good at sneaking around and doesn't have god powers. while clive probably stands the best chance in a fight against barnabas. joshua can fight just as good but it costs him more.

why are titan's powers working where are you getting earth aether from. 2 fire eikons on a ship hmmm why not fight fire to the ship burn and sink it and fly off with jill (and gav, gav why are you here). historically fire has been the deadliest thing that can happen on a wooden ship. odin flies. that's so not fair. well actually shiva flies too. if we make it only winged eikons get to fly jill shouldn't be able to fly either. joshua! away from the ship! so when odin attacks those attacks are aimed away from the ship. make him hit his own ship. oh nvm. how long does that cut last???

olivier and sleipnir were akashic that retained their forms. askasha are from an overflow of aether, does the aether wash away their wills? hmm so liek darksouls mankind's original state is eldritch and its current recognizable state fleeting.

jill should be covered in scars and she isn't. i remember her saying something like "when they realizes the lash would not make me bend, the took it upon those that would". and this isn't a dominant thing because clive has a scar right there. unless he got it before 15. hmmm maybe this does work.

hmm hitting drake's spine now might be less fortified but barnabas can teleport so he could ready defenses before we get there. storm had 4 mothercrystals and i think 1 or 2 more before the start of the game but ash only has 1? raw deal ash.

huh the deadlands are actually pretty good protection against akasha. the mothercrystals weren't so much sealing ultima, aether, and the akasha in the sense of a barrier so much as they were a constant drain. i guess the deadlands were a side effect of the mothercrystals's drain. and once we stopped that drain all that aether no longer had a place to go. its a flux problem.

ehhhh handing a sword to a person who doesn't know how to use it is a good way to get them killed. how about the bearers provide support and logistics.

i get how the sidequests are meant to be independent stories but dorys, quinten, and isabelle's stories all deal with the imperial government/nobility i think the 3 of them should join forces and achieve much more than what they could individually.

barnabas is like 65. see this is why i was hypothesizing anabella was an ultima agent because she should also be like 60 by the time she died.

so after the beach scene a great many sidequests were don. but from an msq perspective that was a massive waste of time, we came back did nothing and then are going back to the exact beach we left from. well ship repairs and rest for jill and joshua, but the ship was never meant to stay, could have saved the trip.

ash time. on the surface jill's choice is giving shiva's power to clive or not but i think joshua is talking about something a little different. the choice between withholding power that might keep clive from dying, or letting him sacrifice himself and walk the path alone. or maybe it was the choice between what jill wanted and what clive wanted. Clive wanting to save everyone by himself and endanger no one but himself, and jill not being able to refuse him.

if all you're going to do is resupply and wait in the next village, then you totally could have gone with joshua instead of leaving him alone.

the other eikon fights have been giant epic spectacles, just compare with the previous Bahamut fight. But Odin's fight ended in a whimper not a bang and I rather like the contrast, it's anticlimatic and that's great.

oh hey dion and terrance are both alive. well isn't that sad, only just reunited and dion is trying to die to atone for destroying twinsides, sending terrance away. what worth is a life debt when you're trying to get killed.

if the Mothercrystals are Ultima's, maybe they were draining aether to revive Ultima. ifrit-phoenix as a vessel to cast the ultimate spell. the central relationship in the game is between clive and joshua.

i know in cutscenes joshua is the one with barrier powers. but there was the tutorial and cutscene where ifrit learned how to make barriers too.

yeah of course clive and joshua have to go it alone. don't defend the door! let the door defend you! use it as a chokepoint! make your enemies push open the door every time they want to get through.

a couple of theories have been floating around about the marius painting and rashid’s remark that he serves a god. one is that all the events leading up to the prince lestat series have already happened in show canon. lestats been a rock star, akasha woke, etc. ive also heard that the penthouse belongs to armand, hence the marius painting or that it belongs to lestat, who having already drank from askasha so much, has become the strongest vampire and has set himself up as a god to his servants.

Ooh, yeah, maybe. Like maybe Rashid really works for Lestat and for Louis more by extension?

Using the Elements in Your Spells (ft. Avatar: The Last Airbender)

In my last post, we talked about correspondences and how they can add power to your spells. As a witch, one form of correspondences that you will probably work with a lot is the four elements.

These four (or five, depending on who you ask) elements are the building blocks of the natural world, and everything on earth is associated with one or more of them. Because of this, the elements can serve as a kind of ��correspondence cheat sheet” for new witches. For example: you want to do a spell for self-love, and you know that water is associated with healing and love, so you choose herbs and crystals for your spell that are associated with the water element.

Connecting with the elements can also be a spiritual experience for many pagans, but today we’ll be focusing on their uses in magic.

Air

In her book Wicca For Beginners Thea Sabin says that, “air is masculine, light, and cerebral. It corresponds to… birth; youth; enlightenment; inspiration; communication; writing; mobility; and computers and electronics.”

Invoke in Spells For: increasing mental abilities, gaining clarity, travel and movement, new beginnings, spirituality or spiritual development, creativity, inspiration, communication

Magical Tools that Represent Air: incense smoke, feathers (make sure they’re naturally shed and ethically collected!), a fan, bells or chimes

Colors: yellow, gold

Speed: very fast (but the results may not stick)

Cardinal Direction: East

Season: spring

Herbs/Plants: rosemary, lavender, lemongrass

Crystals: fluorite, kyanite

Animals: birds, insects, and any flying animal

Example of Air in a Spell: banishing something you want to be rid of by taking a pinch of cayenne pepper in your hand, whispering your intent, and blowing the pepper off of your hand and out a door or window.

learn something new!

express your creativity by drawing a picture or writing a poem

Speed: very slow (but results will last a very long time)

Herbs/Plants: all plants are at least partially associated with this element, but some especially “earthy” plants are sage, coffee, and patchouli

Crystals: all crystals are associated with earth, but some especially “earthy” stones are moss agate and bloodstone

Astrology: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Tarot: the suit of Pentacles (sometimes called the Coins or Disks)

Example of Earth in a Spell: Writing a wish on a bay leaf and burying it in the ground to “plant the seed” for manifesting that desire. 

Ways to Connect with Earth Energy:

practice grounding your energy,

do some gardening, even if it’s just getting a houseplant

spend time with your loved ones

play with your pets

donate money to a worthy cause

You may or may not choose to work with a fifth element, called spirit or aether. In Wicca, spirit is associated with deity, which unites the other four elements. In other Western occult traditions, the element of spirit represents the underlying spiritual force that exists within all things. In the book You Are Magical, Tess Whitehurst phrases it this way: “Ultimately everything is pure spirit element temporarily masquerading as something else.”

Because of its limitless and undefined nature, it can be hard to nail down correspondences for spirit. You can invoke the element of spirit to strengthen your connection to the divine, work with your ancestors, or connect more strongly with your own spiritual power.

You can represent the element of spirit in ritual with sacred symbols, such as images of deities, or with sacred geometric shapes.

You do not have to work with spirit to do magic. I personally only work with the four classical elements, and do not include spirit or aether in my practice. However, many witches do choose to incorporate this fifth element and find working with it very fulfilling. The choice is up to you.

One last note: this post focuses on how the elements are divided in Western magic and occult traditions. Different cultures classify the elements differently. For example, in Hinduism the elements are earth, water, fire, air, and either void or Askasha (aether). The Chinese elements are fire, earth, metal, water, and wood. If you do not resonate with the Western division of the elements, feel free to investigate other ways of classifying natural forces.

God (Owl): God is Garrett familiar. God has been a little secret of Garrett’s only his close family knows. He’s had him since he was 20. Garrett often turns to God and has been for 872 years. 

→ History Garrett had a tough life before he was found by Ronan. His mother and step-father hated him and made his life miserable. At first he tried to be everything they wanted him to be and expected from him. Under their daily pressure his strength slowly died down, leaving him numb, and unafraid of what they or others thought of him. This drove him into acting reckless, being uncompromising and using intimidation against those who thought they could walk all over him. He was 11 years old when he killed one of the neighborhood dogs by mistake. Seeing the blood rush out of its body triggered something in Garrett. He continued down that route, killing and experimenting with any small animals he could find, until the day his step-father took him hunting. He was Garrett’s first human kill. It continued to the annoying baby next door, random strangers in the streets, boys at school and finally his mother.

He was running from his town's people when Ronan found him. He had apparently temporarily deactivated all of the local wards for a few seconds without knowing. But it was enough to alert Ronan, Kaylor and Roman that there was another warlock or witch close by. They had been close by because they were tracking rumors of someone that shared their marks and possibilities of them being a necromancer due to the increasing amount of death within the town limits. Garrett was skeptical at first but the man teleported him away from the angry mob of people closing in on them. He caught a glimpse of Ronan’s world and power, and Garrett wanted in. 

Kaylor and her husband, Bee, suggested that Garrett get a familiar as he struggled with his magic. Garrett wasn’t quick at picking up magic like Ronan, Kaylor and Roman were. It took awhile but Ronan was sure he wasn’t an elemental, mental, or a necromancer, evocator or therinologist after trying to test his power. They were also lost at why he was immune to physically created magic. While some magical powers were recorded, they were still working on figuring most powers and why some powers manifested later on in life. Garrett fell in this category for decades. He focused more on long distance teleportation, conjuring, enchantments and scrying. It wasn't until Garrett disintegrated an object did they finally figure what he was and focused on him catching up.

 Garrett’s need to kill died down drastically after meeting his brothers and sister. While his magic did make it easier to kill, his interest winged away from it and more towards sex and magic. He was forever young, accumulating money and had godlike powers. He laid with men and women alike. Waltzing into city after city breaking hearts. Jia Hu saw right past all of that when they met. He was a mentee under Ronan and was constantly in Garrett’s space. He didn’t mind sharing his space with Jia, Garrett pursued him and they dated for nearly a year before Garrett found himself afraid of where their relationship was heading. Jia was his first serious fling and Garrett couldn’t fight the feeling of love growing over him. Garrett left for Italy, to mentor briefly under someone else besides Ronan and Kaylor. When he returned, he and Jia picked right back up where they left off. This started the pattern that varied from Garrett or Jia leaving for a few months with the longest separation being 10 years. 

→ The Present Garrett has been working on his relationship with Jia. Things have been going well and Garrett is unsure if it is the calm before the storm or if they’ve both grown past their fears. While working on keeping their bond strong, Garrett has taken up learning more about charms and started showing more of an interest behind the craft. While he usually focuses more on spells since he is immune to physically created magic, Garrett has been tinkering with charms. He figured he had a hack for placing curses on charms that are not easily detected and are untraceable. He has been doing this in his free time and has yet to share the news with Jia, his local charm master lover. 

Garrett has been thinking of taking on a mentee, however, with his power of magical disintegration, it's been hard to find a mentee that shares his powers or is solely interested in ways to break down bonds, potions, charms, shields, wards, etc. Ronan and Loland's new addition, Altair has not helped his thoughts either. Everyone knows when left to his thoughts it can be dangerous. Garrett's thoughts are leading towards wanting to steal, or possibly adopt, a witch or warlock child to train in all his glory. Those thoughts are still at the forefront of his mind but he plans on playing caution around his family and Jia; not knowing what their reaction would be.
