Vent ahead 🔫 : nothing really has changed within the fandom, except there’s new people, new massive amounts of mlm pairing, a bunch of headcanons that everyone seems to fight over each other about on a tumblr and other places and one thing that has changed is how people perceived certain characters…

Germany in my eyes, is no longer HRE, HRE is the predecessor of Germany , HRE loved chibitalia who he thought was a girl. That is no longer though a existing concept it’s long gone, Germany in my eyes finds Italy to be that annoying friend that he deals with. And Italy in my eyes is a big flirt with men and women, but mostly women and in my canon, he’s actively looking for a wife. Germany… is an awkward ass demiromantic, and he too in my canon is looking for a wife, And if I want to self ship with Germany fucking my s/i’s big beautiful juicy ass, then he’s gone do it~ and I’m gonna draw about it, write about it because I love it and my bf loves it and yeah~ in my canon, he’s in a complicated thing with Malka (Israel Chan) and he also seems to be very attached to my s/i Bridget, which makes a very fucked up love V. … (but anyways, I’m shooting off to something here on my rant )

i have talked about him in detail the last few days but! he is literally my favorite character in the entire world of all time. there is not a day that i dont think about him. ive cosplayed him six billion times. i cry when his awful character songs come on because i get so positively overwhelmed. he means the entire world to me. when i was at my lowest i would think about him and it was genuinely life saving. nobody loves him like i do. he is my world. my lifeblood. my everything. in the most not normal way possible. i went through the hardest childhood ever and then seeing a child character in a rough situation be so headstrong and aggressively determined to live and prosper and get what he wants was so life changing for me that it fundamentally changed who i was as a person.

i ADORE sealand. canon and fanon. there are some fanon interpretations that piss me off but usually i am so not picky because that is my little guy, my baby, and i am just so glad that he was included. i love that people play with various ages for him, various senses of maturity, various situations and responsibilities. he is at such a flexible age, and the common theme of growing up is so prominent with him, that he works no matter where you throw him in time.

i do wish people made him more of a troublemaker, though! he doesnt get enough love for this to be a prominent thing but i dream of the day of seeing him get up to mischief and shenanigans. i have this idea of him and prussia dicking around at world meetings together and neither of them are supposed to be there. let him have more friends, let him talk to more than sufin + nordics + uk. he would absolutely go door to door pitching for recognition. he would get up to so many funny little things. put up fliers around the world about buying a title on his website. call world leaders to ask their opinions of him. get in fights online about himself.

i know some people hate putting characters in bad situations, but i think he makes for such an interesting character in bad situations. the same way the hunger games, and dystopian ya novels, are so interesting. putting a child in adult situations and making them manage growing up and facing the world and how to incorporate and change their current beliefs about the world is Awesome. he is so determined and has such a strong desire to Live that it is fun to think about what it would take to crush it, but it is also so inspiring to watch it thrive. it means so much to see him live through adversity. i love him. i love him so dearly.

HE GETS NOT ENOUGH LOVE AT ALL. so pathetic, so funny. him and sealand make such awesome foils. i love their rivalry. he is like an angry little wet cat. desperate for approval but embarrassed so easily, what a funny little creature. i dont have many complex thoughts about him (i used to have more but they have been forgotten to time) but i do love him dearly and i think the irl ladonia is funny as hell. i love the micronations and i am desperately starved for more content about them, canon and fanworks both. but nobody loves me enough to do it and im too damn busy to do it myself. :(

England's favorite movie genre is *Horror,* though less of the hack-and-slash, but more of the thriller and suspense types. He's not ticklish. He's also a cuddler. Wait, aren't all those canon...? 😉

Okay, fine. For Austria, I headcanon him to need a cane, and he may have some trouble/flare-ups with moving/moving quickly and he needs a patient, easy-going companion. He's also a ‘One Person I Need and One Person Only' kind of guy, but if there's a +1, he won't complain too much.

I used to headcanon the hair curls/cowlicks on him, the Italies, America, etc. were like whiskers on a cat. They use them to feel around or sense somethings in the breeze. Or something.

This asks for a personal headcanon, you get a bunch.

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves (chars you’re neutral on are fair game, as are chars you dislike).

I don't hate any of the canon characters! I only hate Uke England and he's not canon so This one's a bit tough. I'd say I'm leaning on the positive side of neutral with anybody with not a lot of screentime in a large cast such as this.

Uh, let's just grab someone random—Bulgaria. He seems like a funky little fellow (affectionate). I imagine he cosplays with Canada and Japan. He's just a dude trying to get by in a crazy world. 🙏

I - Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?

Stopped me from liking any fandoms? No, but I do have some fandoms blocked so they don't clog up my dashboard. Some fandoms I'm okay peeking over and getting the popcorn, like Good Omens. That seems like a good time. Other fandoms I don't care about in the first place, such as Game of Thrones, or Homestuck.

M - Say something genuinely nice about a ship that you don’t ship (or its shippers, or anything related to you).

No prob! As much as I don't like some things, I always try to remind myself of any good little nuggets I can find that would make people like it in the first place. Always good to have all the information before seething over something properly.

I don't ship RusPru, Russia x Prussia. But that makes some damn fine fun times in Cardverse. Always a fan of a jokester messing around with the monarchs.

Also Prussia, as cocky and on-top-of-the-world as he made himself to be, brought down and scared of somebody else...hmmm. :) That's a good thought to chew on.

E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what?

Back in the Day™ I've done nothing but write crack fics. Nowadays, I have an itty trilogy of the Allies all sharing a tent (omg and there was only one tent) that I'm quite proud of, it's exactly like an episode of Hetalia, and that is cracky and hilarious on it's own!

Or. You know. A whole-ass USUKUS monsterfucker series.

No one asked, but I still delivered!

I try to rely on canon as much as possible when consuming or creating Fanart, fanfiction, or (rarely) cosplays for any fictional characters, but that doesn't mean I'm immune to inserting my own headcanons and fanons into characters

I like the Catholic Guilt™ view of his character simply because, as a Catholic woman, I can relate immensely lol. Also, the Teutonic Knights have such a fascinating history that is super fun to explore through Prussia's character! While my specialty as a history major is in American history, it is fun to dabble in medieval history every now and then.

I lean ever so slightly towards the "literal war maniac" side of his character ONLY BECAUSE, historically speaking, war and Prussians kind of hand and hand. That's not to say that they were at war with neighboring countries ALL the time (nor that other European nations didn't have a large military presence), but Prussian society relied heavily on the military. They basically structured their whole way of life around war and expansion at a certain point. For my Prussia, I like to imagine that he is a guy who loves a good fight when it's presented to him or jumps on the opportunity to jump into a fight when ready to do so, but he's not gonna walk out in the streets and pick a fight with some nation for no reason at all. (Also, I think that Prussia has absolutely killed someone before, but that's a topic for another day).

So yeah, that's my general interpretation of Prussia! This was honestly a lot of fun to do, and I encourage anyone else who wants to do this to give it a go (no pressure, of course). Let me know what you guys think!

26: Who would be the one character you would love to meet?

Prussia!!! I'd love to meet Prussia, even if meeting him would really just be him bragging about how awesome he is. I think I'd love to learn about his history as a nation and the effects of dissolving and things of that nature. Plus maybe if I'm nice enough he'll introduce me to Gilbird. I'd enjoy that day a lot.

30: If you had the ability to change your height, shape, voice, clothing, and even gender, who would be your dream Hetalia cosplay?

My immediate thought was America and I got really excited. I absolutely would love to do him or Canada, or even Italy or Liechtenstein. They're so sweet and I'd have a lot of fun being them. Would also like to be Prussia, that'd be cool. I need to actually make this a reality...

What's your favorite part of the festival?

I lost the friend circle I had for the longest time, despite the fact that these are ironically the same people that got me into Hetalia in the first place, because I found out too late that they’ve been judging me for still liking it 10 years later. It’s one thing to be polite, but it broke my spirit that it they judged me for it, regardless of how polite they’ve been. All that despite the fact that I have publicly (and loudly so, because God knows how tired I am of people reducing me into an apologist) shut down fellow fans for the fascist undertones in their cosplays and fanart. I was in the Hetalia Day cosplay panel the year a young one from the audience asked the GAP trio (Germany, Austria, Prussia) their thoughts on Hitler — we circumvented the question our own ways if that helped.

You’d think that would be laudable for a veteran fan to achieve, but no, instead we’re made laughable for it. And at the end of it all, none of that apparently meant any inch of goodness in me to my longest friends. Until now, I still struggle to admit that they aged into bad friends. Some of the happiest times of my life had been with them, after all. One of them was that token academic overachiever of the squad, an avid bookworm, and an incredible writer, whom, despite all their brilliance, was proud that we’re no longer friends just because I “defended” Hetalia.

One of the most painful things I was told — not by the same friends — was that I had to accept that not everyone’s gonna accept me. On the one hand, we could give the benefit of the doubt that it was the common mistake of “acceptance = approval” when it wasn’t. On the other hand, if we were to believe they meant what they said with full understanding, then I’d dare say that said more than enough about what kind of terrible company I was with. As I told a moot, acceptance is not a feeling, it’s an act. You just do it.

If I might play devil’s advocate, try making that advice to someone who was BIPOC/queer/disabled/etc., and understand that that kind of statement was what fuels the fire of racism, queerphobia, ableism, etc. (I had really bad friends…)

I’m sorry for the trauma dumping, if only to get around to how I am making peace with being a Hetalia fan. Even with the more historical flavor of fanworks, there’s still so much lingering double standards, and until now I resented it all so much, on top of the never-ending and annoyingly reductive accusations that Hetalia (by itself) makes fascists out of people. We don’t win, and I’ve accepted that maybe we just won’t ever win. And that’s fine, because I’m not out here to win, I’m here to have goddamn fun. And if people refuse to celebrate that because of their opinions — regardless of their media literacy proficiency — that’s their loss, not mine. Sorry also for the Catholic moment HAHA, but when the Nazarenes rose up and intended to kill one of their own, Jesus walked straight through their midst and simply left. As painful as it is when it happens, why stay where we will never be accepted? And maybe that’s why I’ve stuck around in this circus for so long, because at least I found that here, gfdi.

If we’re all gonna be losers, let’s at least have fun being losers, no matter how senseless the world gets.
