Denmark and Sweden do not hate each other. They did at some point, but they've long since gotten over all their main grievances.

Denmark cares about Sweden just as he cares about the other Nordics.

Sweden understands that Denmark is no longer the collected, stoic individual he was when he was younger and knows when to sort of lean in his place to give Denmark the room to be chaotic.

They're more like brothers than the whale brothers are.

Contrary to what one might think, Denmark is actually the peace-keeper of the two. Sweden is the one who might try to pick a fight by being passive aggressive for seemingly no reason.

They don't get into full on brawls anymore (because Sweden's kids and Iceland would freak out) but they have other ways of getting under each other's skin.

The most annoying of which is trying to parent the other's kids.

Denmark once jokingly told Ladonia that he was adopted (as one does) and was shocked when Ladonia literally broke down sobbing and demanding the 'truth' from Sweden for like a month straight. Sweden was not happy to say the least.

Sweden tries to teach Iceland how to drive, but he is not a good teacher because he's always super stressed about anything happening to the car that he ends up just yelling 99% of the time. Not a fun experience for Iceland, and it definitely bothers Denmark.

The kids end up having to tell them to stop being jerks because Norway finds it too funny and doesn't care enough to intervene and Finland doesn't want to risk having to mediate.

They're also both absolute dads.

Polo shirts and cargo shorts are basically their uniform in the summer.

They argue about literally everything.

Denmark's driving, Sweden's cooking, everything.

Norway will side with either of them randomly just for the fun of it.

Their gifts to each other on holidays and birthdays are always incredibly passive aggressive.
