Once colonel caleb finds out you’re pregnant after so many nights of reckless fucking, unprotected and willing to have you pregnant—he’s so fucking ecstatic. Seeing you approach him and reveal the pregnancy stick, the two lines confirming the presence of life in your belly where his many, many creampies took root, had him looking blank, making you worried he wasn’t as joyful as you thought he would be at the thought.

But before you could open your mouth to ask him a thing, he’s swept you off your feet, strong arms—bionic and muscle—wrapped around your torso beneath your arms, crushed into his body. Caleb’s face nuzzled into the column of your neck, nose and lips burying themselves impossibly close. His breath was heavy, hands clinging onto your shirt before he finally spoke.

“We’ll never be apart from each other ever again, you hear me? You’re attached to me, body and soul—like I am to you,” he whispered hotly, moving his head down the slop of your neck to rest his forehead against your shoulder, staying still in how he had you now to fight against the stinging that had begun to bloom in his eyes, jaw clenched and brows furrowed with effort.

All sentimentality aside, he’d most definitely whisper endless praises by your ear that exact same night while fucking you so lovingly, calling his good girl—his only girl—for how obedient you were when you took his previous loads, thanking you reverently for giving him the best gift he’d ever ask for—the best gift after your reappearance into his life, of course. He’s never more thankful for anything other than you.

How do I start making an AU like yours? What do I have to do?

Break your dominant arm (pls don't) so that for 2 months you are unable to draw and the will of drawing those characters rotting in you head physically pains you so much that when they will remove your cast your silly first comic will end up in drawing dozen of panels everyday because the characters just keep you insane

Have perfectionism issues that everytime you make a project you actually want to put effort and construct a linear story instead of doing ONE THING and just let the thing BE one thing (again, pls don't)

Have a workaholic obsession (once more, pls don't) that makes every waking moment you pass without doing something productive, even for a hobby project, feel like you're wasting time.

have insomnia so that you have more time to draw (for the final time, pls don't)

Bonus tip: read around 2 millions of words of slow burn/enemies to lovers fanfiction a year to learn by heart every single possible story structure so much that you have it tattooed in your head.

Everyone keeps on saying that Lan Xichen may be an ignorant fool, but at least he is a good brother to Lan Wangji and a good friend to Jin Guangyao and Nie Mingjue, but is that really true?

Lan Xichen allowed the Lan Clan to participate in the First Siege of the Burial Mounds, after he knew of Lan Wangji’s feelings for Wei Wuxian. He even told Jin Guangyao of Lan Wangji’s feelings for Wei Wuxian, which Jin Guangyao later on used against Lan Wangji in Guanyin Temple.

And when Nie Mingjue told Lan Xichen about how he was stabbed by Jin Guangyao, he just ignored his warnings. Jin Guangyao doesn't even like Nie Mingjue either at that point, not to mention Nie Mingjue also wanted to kill Jin Guangyao several times too. And yet Lan Xichen still wanted the two of them to get along, knowing what had happened in between them.

What do you think about this?

Unfortunately, Lan Xichen has a type of smug, overconfident ignorance I like to call “mother knows best” syndrome: he thinks that he is the most rational person in a group of people who all seem (to him) to be operating at extremes, so it is up to him to play moderator and peacemaker as the “least biased” person. On top of that, because he thinks of himself as the “most rational” person, he also easily justifies disregarding the opinions or knowledge of others as “uninformed” if it doesn’t fit into his own view of things. And tbf, no one had ever challenged him on it in the story until Wei Wuxian’s resurrection. @jiangwanyinscatmom actually had a really good meta about how the story of the Twin Jades’ parents actually affect Lan Xichen’s ideas around reliability/rationality in regards to romances vs. friendships, but I’ve never approached it from that angle to be able to explain it as eloquently as they have.

What I will say is that as bad as those above character flaws are—and we see how badly they implode on him by the end of the novel—what makes it sad is that unlike other characters, Lan Xichen is actually trying to do right by his friends and family. He saw how close Nie Mingjue and Jin Guangyao were prior to Jin Guangyao’s betrayal and wanted them to regain that closeness. He saw how much Lan Wangji appeared to change around Wei Wuxian and encouraged that relationship until it seemed like Wei Wuxian was actually harming his brother, instead. In another setting, Lan Xichen’s ego could have just been addressed through actual conversation, but instead he got stuck with Jin Guangyao early on—who was the #1 driver of every bad thing that ever happened to Lan Xichen—and his refusal to accept anyone else’s input that differed from his own led to the deaths of real people. And now he has to live with that, but the good thing is that he does.

"It's been two days. Come on. Time to go." Simon hauls you up from the bed, ignoring your complaints about not wanting to go to the hospital, taking you into the car as he takes the kids to school.

"Mommy?"

"She's fine. Lost her voice, sweets." Simon hums, stopping at the elementary as the two kids hop off. Your son reaches for your arm to squeeze like Simon does before leaving, earning a smile from you as he follows his sister. Simon stays until both of the kids have made it inside the doors.

"Don't wanna go." You rasp, wrapped up in too many layers to be comfortable, grumbling as he holds a hand to your forehead.

"Your body says otherwise."

You huff, letting Simon drive as he brings you to the hospital, all of your files out as you wait to be diagnosed, sitting there grumbling under your breath as you rest your head on Simon's shoulder, eyes closed as he tells you to rest up. The doctor runs a handful of tests on you and you wait with Simon in the room, eyes closed as you scroll through his photo gallery. There isn't much to look at other than photos of you and the kids.

They run a handful of tests on you and ask you if you're comfortable with drawing blood, to which your eye twitches and Simon soothes your arm, letting them know to find your vein in one jab since it hurts you.

When you finally emerge out of the hospital, Simon's sure to get you that meal you've been moaning about wanting since getting sick.

A small treat for being so brave.
