I'm going with Shin in this one because I'm not as involved in other fandoms and I don't really remember any hot takes I have in other media

Since he's such a divisive character I think there are so many opinions that are both popular and not so much that I don't know how unpopular my opinions are

Well, I think that Shin doesn't plan his revenge yet and his goal is still to survive because he cooperates with the others and hasn't done anything troublesome in the third chapter. Plus he cares about Gin. I feel like he doesn't exactly hate Sara and Keiji anymore (or at least as strongly as before) but nothing can be said with certainty. And I hope for the best (even though if he learns who Kanna was it's going to be a major problem)

Also maybe I'm cheating because I have talked about this before but I don't think that his portrayal in logic route is necessarily worse than before and also that it's not inferior to Kanna's developement. I don't know how unpopular that is but I've seen complaints about how logic route is bad as we don't get enough of Shin

Of course, Kanna is very active and could be mistaken for protagonist (and that's great! I love Kanna and I love her development!) while Shin seemingly fades to sidelines (personally, I think he wasn't completely sidelined, his arc is simply different from Kanna's), but it is not a bad thing and it makes sense. Kanna was saved due to being cherished as a person, she was loved by the cast and loved them back. Shin's sacrifice helped her understand that she had value outside of simply being useful. While in Shin's situation it's polar opposite: he doesn't really have allies (or at least he probably feels like he doesn't), he was spared to be a tool, Kanna's sacrifice in his opinion was a stupid act of naive kid. Is he supposed to thank Sara? He thinks he should at least show how much he hates her, which isn't justification for evil Joe AI but at least explains his attitude

Well, why wasn't he plotting revenge and was somewhere in the background? Because he's confused and conflicted about everything. Having already traumatised Sara he probably had at least some doubts about completing his revenge (I don't have concrete evidence that he feels guilty after evil Joe AI, but my intuition tells me he does, even if a little). Aaaand Kanna didn't want more bloodshed. Aaaand he met Midori. He has to process so many things he just follows the crowd. Kanna doesn't have such doubts in her route so she can move forward easier. Shin can't contribute as much because he doesn't have energy for that (plus he did help out, he didn't let Sara lose hope that Keiji was alive and overall he participated in discussions)

So his writing in the third chapter is good and makes sense. Emotion route and logic route are quite different but both are more or less natural in how events happen

Well, maybe I should also post opinion I haven't voiced yet: while Shin's "showing collar" sprites are hot, his CG during first main game argument (war of words? Something like that) is superior. Look at it please, it's so cool

DISCLAIMER : i have a lot of opinions in this, and if yours and mine differ, it's because im talking about symbolism, and that's an artistic perspective, so our opinions can be different <3

willel reunion hug. but more importantly the part where el says : "i'm okay". it's the first time we truly get to see how much they care about each other and to what extent. their love is somewhat fate, somewhat circumstance and a whole lot of misplaced understanding, but you can see so clearly here that will was the only one who asked how she was feeling, because he knows how much stuff like this can fuck you up, and she clearly feels so thankful that he Asked and she wants to comfort him so badly, she doesn't want him to worry, because he's had to worry for himself and other people plenty and a good person, a hero doesn't let other people worry for them, and even in a good deed you can see her mindset about how she should be a certain way to make up for all the 'bad stuff' she's done to him unintentionally and now she loves him unconditionally, but she still has trouble showing it and making up for her not being able to 'save' him in season 1 and the only way she can do anything right now is let him know that for once, he doesn't have to worry about someone else. she's okay. she's okay because they're here. her Real family is here now. and it just pains me so much to see how authentically and truly they care for each other, because each of them have their own pain but they recognize the other's so well, and it's almost like they're two parts of the same coin meshed together, but you can't see where they separate. and they are so similiar, but so different, and they carry so much jealousy and guilt and shame, but the eahc one wants the other to be happy, and they know how to do that so seamlessly, because will knows el is rarely asked how She feels about something not related to her powers or. anything in general. just asked how she feels. and el knows will has been worrying about people since the start of time, and it's not just a switch she can turn off in his brain because she wants him to care about his feelings and himself for once, but the most she can do is reduce his tensions, because she's okay. she's fine now that jonathan and will and mike and even agryle, who's grown on her are here. and the way they don't know Exactly what to do, because they arne't fine tuned to each other yet, and even if they were, there are some things you can't 'fix' or 'solve', but you can quell them, and they're Trying So Hard to quell the other's problems and that's what special about them. how hard they try, for each other, for their friends, for their family, and for a world who's never given anything back to them.

2. will saying that he and el will fix her diorama together. will has grown used to things needing 'fixing' and believing that he has to fix them himself and most times he thought those things were Himself, and he gets that this goes deeper than a project, than a diorama. because el is still holding onto hope that her dad is alive, and will gets how dangerous hope Is, but he also knows what it feels like for your hope to be squashed, literally and metaphorically. one of my favorite personal thoughts is that this scene resembles will's castle byers scene with a few exceptions, but i won't get into that now. and there's a possibility he doesn't know about el's struggles with morality and violence and her powers and brenner and being a hero or a monster. but i like to think he does, so for me, her calling hopper a hero, and that being denied by angela, it means something. hopper did something great, he saved many people, possibly the world, but she can't tell angela that, but even something still heroic like saving people from a mall fire being undermined by angela, it interferes with her perception of heroes. now heroes have to be Big and Invincible and Strong and they can never be weak, and they have to save the world and sacrifice themselves in an instant to be a hero, but will Helps her. more like, he tries to, but clearly el realizes something, because at the end of the season her motive is to save max. just max, not the world. and i think she's understood will's definition of a hero now. someone who does anything for the people they love. someone who saves people, not a world. and this scene is very symbolic to me of their relationship, because el is broken, shattered. and will is helping fix up the pieces; the pieces being made up of a diorama and what a hero should be and what a father should be and what a father feel like and special powers and who she is with and without them and not knowing who she is and being bullied for not being normal when that's all she wants to be so, so badly. and will is helping, trying to help, whatever. it's still new to her that someone would want to unpack her and still love her as, if not more, deeply as they did before. anyway will is helping! her! fix! it! THEY'LL!! FIX!! IT!! TOGETHER!!, OKAY!!?

3. will calling jonathan and himself her brothers, her family. there's something about this scene, not because i think it's a very important scene symbolically or metaphorically, or that it's very neccesary to analyse to understand their relationship, but my reason for loving it is because it's the final nail in the coffin. they are family, they are siblings, and nothing will ever change that. also i love noah's acting in this and the way he says "we're family" like he actually, really believes it. because that means el's dream has come true. she wanted people who'd accept her with or without her powers and actually give her autonomy and think of her generally without regarding her powers, regardless of wether she has them. and these people, they don't consider her when the world needs saving, or when they need something drastic or using her for powers, these are people who ask her for opinions on the colors and shading for their new project in school. people who call her to ask if she needs a ride to school and if she wants to smell his shirt to see if he smells like the green plant el had caught him with once which is a herbal tea leaf. people who just want to know if she's okay and people who will fix dioramas and life and morals and autonomy and her perception of herself and the world and how It percieves her and a situation in general. people who will hug her and not want to let go. people whose heads she can cradle because another one of the people taught her that. and i especially love how will used his hands here and interrupted jonathan, because he doesn't normally do that, but that's his sister. that's el out there, in jail, getting headshots taken. and he can't be assertive most of the time, but for el he would burn down worlds and do anything to make sure she's safe. and he teaches her this, that being a hero is not about saving the world, it's about saving the people you'd do anything for, and she is one of them for him and he is one of them for her. and it just really drives the point home. that, you Know that they're family and they're brothers and they would do anything to keep her and make sure she's safe, because that's all that matters to them. not her powers, not her lack thereof, not her hair, not her normality. the only thing they care about is Her. her safety and her feelings. and that invokes something very emotional within me.

This is my baby. I've been working on this for the past month or so. It's a 6 chapter story (might turn them into 8) and I'm just halfway through the second chapter asdfghjkl but I have the entire outline of the fic written down and I can't wait to share this story! I'm super excited but super scared because multi-chapters are hard D: I'm going to publish it once I have it all written.. which, hopefully, won't take me too long 😅

El turns to look at him and her voice carries a heaviness he hasn’t heard in a year. “Do you feel him?” His hand instinctively goes to the back of his neck. There’s no shiver, no goosebumps warning him that something is wrong. There’s no weird feeling telling him he can feel him, because he can’t. Vecna’s been silent for over two years. “No,” he replies. “I can’t. It’s just a sensation, but I can’t feel him.” “It’s probably the anniversary effect,” she replies, hand slipping into his. He holds it tight and finds the strength he needs in his sister’s hold. “You’re probably right,” he replies. “Halloween has never been the nicest holiday for me. Or the week right after it.” “Don’t worry. You have all of us to support you this week,” she says and giggles at her own thoughts that she quickly decides to share. “And you’ll definitely have Mike.” Will rolls his eyes and El pokes his side until she’s full-on tickling him. “El! Stop!” She giggles and he knows she’s had only a couple of drinks, but tipsiness looks good on her. She’s carefree and happy and giddy. Will wants to see his sister like this forever.

I think listening to so many audiobooks has ruined my expectations on "normal" reading?

I read on and off all day and *only* read 100 pages. Which logically i know is a lot but also only 1/5 of the book.

where as I can finish an audiobook in a day or 2.

why am I being weirdly anxious over being a "slow" reader now 😣

for what it's worth, I too used to read actual physical books constantly and now am mostly an audiobook reader. I don't think there's anything wrong with changing as your circumstances and preferences change, and wouldn't worry too much about being a "slow" reader. it makes sense to be anxious about it, since in school we all got tested on reading speed and it was equated to intelligence and "overall academic potential"—but that's nonsense.

outside of school, reading is really about a thousand things and none of them are speed. Read for enjoyment, or personal growth, or curiosity, or to challenge yourself—but as a race to finish the book? seems kinda like missing the point.

hiiiiii I have a question about sara, if thats oke, they seem really cool!

what was their life like before, yknow, AM and whatnot? alsooo what is her relationship with AM, cause it seems really interesting!!

Before AM? Well...

She... doesn't really remember. Sara unfortunately has no memories of her life past when she "woke up." She doesn't even really remember who she is outside of their name, but this could very well not even be their real name. With no memories, all they could do was travel the world and try to survive alone. It's kinda not surprising they ended up bitter and apathetic when you learn this.

As for her relationship with AM? Complicated.

When Sara's forced to be stuck around the other survivors, they're constantly at each other's throats. They aren't the only ones she'll pick fights with; she'll gladly pick a fight with AM which leads to her getting a lot of brutal punishments. The punishments don't stop her, but they get her to be quiet for a short while.

When they're alone, away from watching eyes, it's easier. They find each other to be intriguing and tolerable, and call themselves "business partners." Aka: Sara makes everyone's life a living hell, and she's allowed to have peace sometimes. She likes to tell AM stories about what life was like on the surface. It gives him ammo to use against everyone for the most part, but also it's just... intriguing. She's an enigma, and it's intriguing to him.

He does wonder about the memories she lost before she woke up. But for some reason, he can't find them...

if one thing is true, it is that ohio state hates university of michigan. the feeling is definitely mutual. the two schools have been rivals since before you can remember. all you know is that you cannot associate with someone from michigan. you were raised a buckeye, and you will stay a loyal buckeye, right?

well, being a loyal buckeye is really damn hard right now.

it is not an abnormal thing for you and your friends to go and support the sports teams at your school. most of the time, it was football games. sometimes, it was hockey games. and now hockey season is starting. the stadium buzzes with energy at the first rival game of the season. it’s the beginning of october and the beginning of fall, which you believe is one of the best times of the year. the air finally starts to become crisp after a blazing summer. it couldn’t be a better time for a hockey game. so, you and your friend decide to go to the game for the atmosphere.

just here for the atmosphere, you try to remind yourself now. you also happen to be questioning in your mind why a hockey player just tossed you a puck. a michigan hockey player. there is no way that he thought you were a michigan fan because, first of all, there is a very minimal amount of michigan fans. you’re literally at your home arena. second of all, you and all of your friends are wearing ohio state gear. who does this stupidly gorgeous wolverine think he is?

while all of your friends start squealing because of this boy’s gesture, you sit there in shock. you look at the puck that rests in your hands. you don’t snap out of your confused daze until one of your friends nudges you.

“you think he’s cute?” she asks with a small smile on her face. her words are teasing and her smile is smug.

of course, you think he’s cute. how could you not? he is tall, has curly hair that you can see peaking through his helmet, and you note the little smirk that he had on his face as he skated away from you.

“he’s not bad-looking,” you answer. you can’t stop a small smile that grows on your face as you look down at the little gift.

during the game, you and your friends find out that this boy’s number is 43 and his last name is hughes. you can’t deny that your eyes follow him almost the whole game. you try not to let them wander, you really do. upon finding out his last name and jersey number, your friends are able to find his instagram account.

“you guys are actually insane,” you say with a snicker.

“we just found your future boyfriend on instagram, so you're welcome,” one of your friends teases sassily.

the game goes on and the whole arena is filled with chants and overwhelming school spirit as ohio state finishes off the game, winning 4-3 in overtime.

this is not good for luke. his mind has gone into a spiral of what went wrong and what the team could have done better when he remembers his bold actions during warmups. the truth is, luke isn’t some cocky hotshot hockey player. he is just an awkward college student who happens to be pretty darn good at the sport he plays. luke is charming and charismatic. he knows this, mainly because he has been told by other people. he just isn’t all that confident in using these abilities quite yet.

luke can already feel the regret bubbling inside of him because of his previous actions, certain that he has zero shot with this girl. what are the chances of him even seeing her anyway? well, apparently very high because he does see her again.

you had let your friends encourage you to wait outside the locker rooms to see if you could find the boy that they so desperately want you to meet. and then they left you. they left you wandering outside the locker rooms anxiously by yourself. in their minds, it was a way to get you alone with luke. in your mind, it was downright mean. the only people who really stand outside the locker rooms are family members and girlfriends, which you are neither of. you feel out of place and you honestly hope that luke comes out of the locker room just so that you don’t have to hover awkwardly for much longer.

then, your prayers are answered because out walks the same hockey player that had so shamelessly thrown a girl on the opposing school’s team a puck earlier. only this time, the boy looks much less intimidating. he actually looks quite friendly. when he walks out of the locker room, he is talking with one of his teammates. he looks exhausted and a bit beaten up from the loss that his team just faced, but that doesn’t make him any less attractive in your eyes.

luke sees you and immediately recognizes you. he couldn’t forget such a pretty face. honestly, that is probably the only reason that he gained the confidence to toss you a puck in the first place. seeing you smiling with your friends and looking so gorgeous while doing it made luke so desperate to try and flirt with you.

now, luke is a tad stunned. he sees you and just freezes for a moment. he decides to approach you after a few seconds of you not noticing him.

“hello,” you hear a male voice say after clearing his throat. you spin around to see the captivating wolverine from earlier.

“oh, hi..” you reply softly. both of you seem too shy to speak to the other properly.

“thanks for the puck,” you speak up, now looking up at his taller frame.

“oh yeah, no problem. i’m sure you get that all the time being as stunning as you are…” luke says back. his demeanor is still very bashful. although, he can feel his confidence swell as the conversation flows on because there is no way that he is losing his chance with you.

you find his attempt at flirting a bit amusing but still sweet. his continuous attempts to impress you and try to hold the discussion with you are honestly adorable.

“not usually, and not by anyone i would want to get to know anyway. i could make an exception for you though,” you respond, a pleased smile finding its way to your features.

“do you want to get to know me while we get lunch then?” luke asks. very smooth transition, luke. very smooth indeed.

“our schools are three hours away from each other you know…” you say. your words are meant to be taken almost as a warning. not just a warning to luke but to yourself as well.

“i have a feeling i’ll be in it for the long game,” the boy simply replies with a little grin and slight shrug. his casual answer eased you a bit and let you know that he wants to make it work out if you also want to.

you have literally known this boy for a whole two minutes of your life and you are already thinking about if you could go long distance with him. i guess he really did catch your attention on the ice.

“i’m luke by the way,” he says.

“y/n,” you reply.

you don’t dare to tell your family what school luke goes to if you guys do end up making it work.

they're so quiet. the only thing you can hear is their soft breath, maintaining a constant rhythm. they generally prefer to bury their head in your shoulder, but they're content just laying next to you. they're so easy to sleep next to. they probably completely shut off while they're asleep?? you will not feel a single thing. no water necessary. no bathroom breaks. they save feeling sick until the morning. in addition, a kiss on the forehead is the last thing you see before you fall asleep and the first when you wake up in the morning. all in all, they're super sweet—maybe, in a way, pretty old-fashioned. i give a 100/10.

SO touchy. literally can't go more than ten seconds not being next to you. probably have a quiet, whispered conversation with you before bed—about anything at all. it's mostly to distract from the fact that they're feeling you up, but they still listen to every word you say. they mumble replies with a teasing voice as their fingers dance up your back, resting at your shoulder. nuzzling their head in your neck while lightly kissing you there. (maybe biting if they're into that...) if you want to get up to get water, they probably make you stay where you are so you stay comfy. they'll do everything for you. you want a massage at 3 in the morning? go ahead, ask. they won't refuse.

LOUD. that's all you really need to know—but you can barely sleep. it's like they don't need it. they'll stay up for hours on their phones, talking about the videos they're watching, what they did—anything at all that they can think of. you'd believe they'll eventually get tired and toss in the towel, but they could pull 10 all-nighters in a row if it meant you'd listen the whole time. other than that, they're usually pretty cuddly. They'll grab onto your arms and scrunch into a ball position, their knees nearly at their chest. They'll probably talk to you like that until they realized you've dozed off. Once they do, they kiss you on the nose and cuddle against you, letting out an unbelievably loud sigh. almost comically so. (it might wake you up and you'd have to fall asleep all over again...)

sarcastic and mean. can you even get more mean than these guys?? they (lovingly) insult and tease you before dragging you into the bed, tightly holding you against them. they'll most likely hold the back of your head by tangling their fingers in your hair, keeping you steady against their chest. to hear their breathing. they might give you a kiss on the forehead if you get lucky. if you decide to tease them by refusing this kiss, they'll probably spread their limbs across the bed to make sure you've got no room, and that you'll have to climb on top of them to be able to lay down comfortably. that's better than a kiss, in their opinion. you're wide open for sarcasm, teasing, and letting them be the meanies they are.

despite his strong and gentle demeanor, he will giggle and watch you happily. in fact, he actually HELPS you pull off pranks. ranging from replacing all of venti’s sugar with salt, painting on the hull of beidou’s ship, or snatching masks from fatuus, you’re having fun alongside him sometimes!!!

he treats you super well, lavishing you with yummy treats and delicious tea. he makes a little room for you somewhere in the inn, and always makes sure you’re happy and well taken care of.

RAIDEN:

you’re jester’d by her after miss sara almost puts you in jail. thankfully, your silly demeanor and joyous attitude captivated her. so you get to go free! as long as you can provide her some entertainment sometimes.

she actually doesn’t have you entertain her that often, just kinda keeps you around like a cool rock. more often, you’ll find yourself entertaining her guards and her loyal followers instead. which is still nice!

she’ll try her best to take care of you, but ultimately ends up just plopping you in the hands of the people she trusts. she isn’t too fond of your pranks but she loves your performances, so you’re equipped with props and costumes :3

NAHIDA:

you’re jester’d by her after you were grabbed by the scruff by a forest ranger, gently being ushered back into the city like a lost cat. which you might as well be! she saw you, you told her a few jokes and gave her some candy, and she got somewhat attached

she really likes your jokes!!! simple puns only, and the occasional riddle. a lot of the time, she’d actually be telling YOU riddles! sadly they’re very hard to figure out so good luck. you get to teach her about certain jokes but you have to explain the punchlines 50% of the time

life with her is very simple, she holds you as an equal (maybe even as a sibling figure?) unlike other archons like raiden or mavuika. you entertain her, and she entertains you! like a nice equal exchange of knowledge in the form of silly jokes.

FURINA:

you’re jester’d after being caught by the guardes for breaking some obscure law, probably related to a prank you pulled. you’re dragged into court (which breaks your silly heart…), furina sees you, and VERRYY dramatically calls for a halt. she runs away with you(and neuvillette on your tail).

she treats you like a secret, not in a weird way but in a.. whispers to you to go and check out the magazine selection and sends you off like her personal little scarab. it’s very obvious you two are hanging out because BOTH of you became 10x more dramatic, but she refuses everything.

your living situation is like roommates, despite her holding some power over you. neuvillette insisted that you get a separate apartment but you both complained enough to where you got to stay hanging out. you’re like best friends!! you eat sweets together, hang out, etc. she even teaches you some of her super secret acting techniques!!!

MAVUIKA:

you’re jester’d after you become hopelessly lost in natlan, miserably jingling across the floor, and winding up in a family of saurians. she finds you all sad and weeping and ue ue ue, and takes you in like a little baby birdie.

actually, you don’t do much entertaining with her! when you do, it’s usually her trying to train you to become strong. thankfully your little kicks and sad punches don’t do much to her. so to cheer you up, she lets you tell her riddles and stories and jokes. turns out she is a SUCKER for puns.

you get to hang out in natlan wherever you want, like tossing a bird in the air and letting it fly away for a bit. your best nap spot is in a very cramped little cave, all cozied up with one blanket to make the edges less sharp. surprisingly it’s very cozy! you can even curl up above on the rocks like a lizard!!!!

TSARITSA:

you’re jester’d by her after a few fatuus find you all sad and wet in the city, jingling about and being a general disturbance to the peace (as god intended). you’re dragged all the way to the palace, to get judged. you’re not put in as a harbinger but you get to be a fool one way or another!

speaking of harbingers, they either love you or hate you. the tsaritsa will always ensure your safety from the weirdness of dottore and the edginess of signora, but you can’t help but be a little upset by them. she’ll wipe your tears and allow you to dance around the palace to help you feel better :3

you get free reign over the palace whether the harbingers like it or not. curled up on lab tables, hunched under chairs, maybe stealing a fatuu grunt’s bed, etc. and they don’t get to say anything bad about you because you’re the tsaritsa’s special little jester! pierro is still upset that you stole his cool nickname though
