au where bruce is attracted to his robins and batgirls. he tries not to think about it or act on it, but it's getting more difficult with every new member of his team he acquires. does anyone know? do the robins and batgirls notice his weird behavior? what do they do about it? do they ever find out the truth? who would think it's terrible and who would find it strangely hot/comforting/nice? does bruce ever act on his feelings?

oh my GOD do i have thoughts for AUs like this, i love this shit so dearly, dirtybadwrong Bruce who's trying to keep a lid on it my beloved.

i think the fun of this AU is if characters would notice Bruce lusting for themselves vs would they notice Bruce lusting for a different Robin/Batgirl. like does Dick pick up on it when it's just him and Bruce? no, because it's just. him and Bruce. he and Bruce are weird and complicated and hold endless bounds of nuance. that's just How Bruce Is, and Dick is the "test run", in a sense. he knows Bruce is new to this whole sidekick/family thing and is giving Bruce grace for being rough around the edges. but when Bruce starts looking at Jason or Tim or Cass that way, that's when Dick starts to notice. it's never enough of a suspicion he feels justified to bring it up, but the thought lingers. he's hyperaware and grows less and less comfortable with leaving them alone with Bruce. it's a weird game of chicken, Dick and Bruce staring each other down when Bruce's touch lingers too long. each waiting for the other to say something first. if Bruce ever broke and actually acted on his feelings, Dick would be eaten alive by the guilt of knowing something was up, but never saying something until it was too late.

obviously, Cass would know. there's no world where Cass *doesn't* know, the nature of who and what she is would immediately clock it. but the issue is, Cass doesn't have a good framework of what family looks like. she doesn't really understand familial vs romantic love bc she has no firsthand experience of what a parent's love should even look like. so she never calls it out. she just watches. i'm a fan of Cass believing this is normal and believing she too can express and act on attraction that's vaguely incestuous. maybe it's with Babs, maybe it's with Dick or Tim or Bruce himself. but she recognizes this as Normal and Accepted within the Batfamily, so it severely fucks up her understanding of familial love and i just. man it's my favorite thing about Cass in Batcest honestly, is how you can play with her lack of experience with love, boundaries, and sexuality.

Tim is the fun one for me. because my favorite flavor of BruTim is when Tim knows, as he agrees to be Robin, that there's a non-zero chance that Bruce is going to be Weird and agrees anyway because he's decided it's an acceptable risk. so Tim knows from the get-go because he's expecting it. if Bruce acts on his attraction, i think it's either with Tim or Cass first, because they're the most likely to confront him about it in a way that isn't entirely negative. Tim has accepted it's a possibility and Cass just seeks being loved and touched so. it leads to the first time someone's ever confronted Bruce about it. and the thing is, Bruce really doesn't like confrontation about his flaws. the first time Tim tries to imply he's okay with it, Bruce would lash out at the idea, tell Tim how inappropriate that is and benches Tim for a week. it'd probably take a united front from Cass and Tim to get Bruce to even *admit* to the attraction. still Bruce wouldn't allow it to happen and he brushes them off until finally, the dam breaks. it's fun if there's a cause like sex pollen, but i think it's *more* fun if it's just. a random fucking Tuesday and finally Bruce is at his limit. he has no real reason, there's nothing particularly different about that day's routine. he just sees Tim or Cass striping armor and sighs and gives in.

i don't think Steph, Jason, or Babs would notice until anything substantial happened. not because they're not wicked smart, but just because none of them were looking for it. Jason put Bruce on a pedestal when he was alive, and when he came back from the dead he wasn't close enough to be noticing Bruce's interpersonal dynamics outside of his narrow scope. Steph has no real framework for what healthy fatherhood looks like, so if Bruce's touches linger, if he stares too long, she just shrugs and assumes it's how it is. and Babs was just never quite close enough to Bruce to notice. if and when she notices, is when actual sexual things start to happen between Cass and Bruce. because Cass would see no reason to hide it. Babs would be pissed, but it'd be tricky to navigate. Cass would be an adult, even if she's only 18/19, so technically, she's old enough to be consenting. if nothing else, Bruce is a careful man. even when he breaks and gives in to his desires, he covers his tracks well. he makes sure he has enthusiastic consent and there's no legal recourse that could be taken. age of consent and all that. there's not much Babs can *do* other than try to tell Cass (and/or Tim) that this isn't normal or okay. not that it gets her anywhere, but god would she try.

by the time Duke comes along (if we venture out of the pre-Flashpoint era) i think it's a sort of. open secret, in the Batfamily. talked about in nothing but hushed whispers and knowing glances. at some point, they've all had sex with Bruce, caving all for different reasons. some more than others. Tim sees it as a duty, Cass sees it as a way of seeking comfort, Steph sees it as getting Bruce's approval for once, etc. it's never forced on them, but eventually, they all come to Bruce sooner or later. and that's the fun irony of it, i think. they try to convince the others not to, but would go to Bruce on their own well. because complicated reasons they can't put into words. sometimes, Bruce is just a messy man who doesn't realize how prized his Attention to for the rest of the Batfamily. that weird duality of not liking him, but also wanting desperately for him to like you. all of them have dealt with it, at some point. so for Duke, it takes a while for him to understand this... whole dynamic. it's Cass who tries to explain it to him, and he's a little horrified, a lot confused. especially when Bruce starts staring at him a little too long as well. i think he'd only want to watch first but well. they all cave eventually.

also fun bonus if we venture into the Dark Knight Returns universe for my bestest girl Carrie Kelley: there's such a like, "i'm fucking around and i'm finding out" vibe to Carrie. like Tim, she's very proactive in just. deciding she's going to be Robin and she's ready for whatever that entails. (IMO canon Carrie is closer to fanon Tim than canon Tim is but *that* deserves its own post-) like she takes one look at the old man that is Batman and goes yup. he's never fucking getting rid of me now. if Bruce started having weird feelings about her, i think she'd have *fun* with it. she's decided she's in it for the long haul and for whatever being Robin means so. she's almost teasing about it, seeing how hard she can push before Bruce snaps. since it's an older, gruffer Bruce, i think he'd express open annoyance at it first, almost a sort of banter about how Carrie behave. but of course he caves and Carrie leans into it, because there's a fun in having all of Bruce's attention to herself. in the main timeline, Bruce is pretty split with so many Robins and Batgirls, but during their era, it's *just* her and him and she's very proud she's got him all to herself.

That's actually so true. I went into One Piece like. Zoro and Sanji. These are the ones I am sure of it. And that lasted for a little while but Shanks was so silly and goofy and sweet that he was always just sort of sitting off to the side in my mind (waiting to pounce), and it was one of those things where like.

The more I talked about him, and the more I theorized about what he was up to, and the more I looked at him and listened to his voice and found myself comforted by him, the more I was actively digging a hole lmfao. Until I looked up one day and was like........................................I think a future with him would actually fix me.

I'll kinda jaunt around bc One Piece is the way it is (-gestures at Crocodile-, had Kid fever for a while, I absolutely adore Sabo, I'm a lil in love with Mihawk always), but I got blindsided by the mack truck of his wonderfulness early and he's always where I end up coming back to. 2k done for what was originally going to be a 2023 whumptober fic, but my beta and i decided it had too much potential to be shoehorned into something small to fit with my time constraints and has been on the back burner since. I do think this is one I'll finish eventually though. :)

A roar of sound rang out from the cellar.  Clint froze, mid step, eye wide in terror.  What the hell had that been?  It sounded pained, but Clint wasn’t sure if it had sounded human.

He had already been unsettled, forced to camp out in the ramshackle farmhouse. Trickshot had called it a safe house when he had kicked Clint out of the car with a single backpack and grocery sack of food two days ago.  Nothing about it seemed safe – it was literally falling apart. Clint had put his foot through one of the stairs leading up to the porch that surrounded the front of the house.  Then the railing had fallen under his weight when he’d tried to lever himself up.  The dingy, cobweb filled interior hadn’t been in much better condition.  There was no running water or electricity.  

Clint did not appreciate being left there.  He wasn’t even one hundred percent sure why he had been.  He thought Trickshot had said the place was going to function as a dead drop sometime in the next week and to make sure he wasn’t seen when it happened.  Clint guessed he was there to make sure whoever left whatever it was didn’t have a change of heart and come back for it before Trickshot could come back.  Clint had a cellphone he wasn’t convinced would get any signal to use when the thing arrived, but he had been forbidden from turning it on until it was time to call Trickshot for retrieval.  He couldn’t waste the battery since there was no way to recharge it.  The whole situation sounded stupid to Clint, but, as he was frequently reminded, they didn’t keep him around for his brains.

The dim light showed broken boards directly below the hole and sitting several feet back from them was a man.

A man with lank, dark hair and a black mask covering the bottom of his face.

Clint jolted away from the hole, unnerved.  When he moved back to where he could see the man again it was with his arrow nocked and ready.

“Uh, hello?” He called down, grimacing as his voice shook. There was no response. “You okay down there?”  Still nothing.  And what a stupid question. Clint could see the unnatural angle of the man’s leg, it was clearly broken. 

“I wasn’t expecting any company, uh, are you in the right place?”  Nothing. As far as Clint could tell the man’s expression didn’t waver.  “Are you … a delivery person?” The question felt stupid even as it slowly tumbled from his mouth.   Trick had seemed to think the item he was waiting for was going to be deposited on the porch.

“Can you hear me?” Clint tried next.  The man gave the tiniest of head jerks to indicate yes and Clint wondered irritably why the man wasn’t speaking.  Maybe that mask had something to do with it, but in that case why not take it off?

“I’m, um, I’m not sure how to get you out of there,” Clint finally said after they had stared at each other for several minutes.  The silent staring was absolutely freaking him out, but Clint didn’t figure that was a reason to leave the man to suffer down there.  Clint realized he was still pointing an arrow in the direction of the man. He guiltily shoved the arrow back in the quiver at his hip as a blush suffused his cheeks.  At least it hadn’t been drawn, right?

“I guess, maybe I can look for a ladder? Or a rope?” Clint started casting his gaze around the room, considering, as if what he needed would magically appear. “Can you even climb up if I find something?  The doors out are jammed closed.

The asset sat on the hard packed dirt it had fallen onto, unmoving.  When the kid had gone far enough that even the asset’s enhanced hearing couldn’t hear him any longer it reset the broken leg.  Because the pain was expected this time it managed to hold in the sounds of agony, unlike the shameful noise that had burst from it when it had struck the ground.

The asset took stock of its surroundings; there wasn’t much to see.  A few shelving units with jars and boxes spread out along them, a pile of coal in one corner and cobwebs hanging everywhere.  It stared at the doors the kid had referred to but knew better than to walk on the leg until it had healed some; the doors could be tested later.

It wondered if the inadvertent captor would offer nutrition. 

Before long the guileless face was poking back into view. 

“Couldn’t find anything worthwhile. I’ll have to scout around and find a neighbor to steal from.” There was a long pause while the kid gave the asset a chance to respond — which was not allowed. “So, looks like you might be down there for a bit. Catch!”

A water bottle was tossed down; the asset reached out to snag it, and a second bottle and pre-packaged sandwich followed in quick succession. 

The asset wasn’t allowed to remove the mask where people could see. The asset considered the instinctive thought. That was the handler’s rule; it was attempting to escape the handlers. Did the rules still apply if they weren't around to enforce?

For the purposes of this, let's assume Hector is alive and not dead. Maybe this is when Hector, Max, Volumnia, Gloriam are in their Academy / University years.

5 facts:

Max is an excellent shot at archery until Hector is around. Then he suddenly needs lessons on how to improve his posture. Hector eventually found out and didn't speak to him for like a week.

At one point, half the school thought these two were dating or something (Gloriam's fault) due to things like how Hector is the only one to call him 'Magnus'. Max was in no hurry to correct people, but internally dies when Hector unknowingly shuts it down.

Was Max's VP when he was student council president. Was great at it, but hated it so much he was like: politics isn't for me. Thus Max's dreams of future!President Ravinstill + VP Dovecote were destroyed... 😔

Volumnia once referred to Hector as 'my Hector' (ie. they were lab partners for like 1 semester) and Max was just very clingy that week around Hector.

Hector thinks he has great luck because he somehow always manages to buy the last lemon tart after his labs. (Max has threatened the bakery with closure if they don't set one aside just for Hector on Wednesdays).

Strike's an ADHD riddled cat who tends to go with the flow and leave spaces in the plans where they can adapt, while Gort is obsessive and over-controlling with every fine detail ("Oh you think this part of the plan here could have multiple possible ways it plays out? Excellent, let's write them all down and make charts for different possibilities")

So while Strike likes a good, well thought out plan, he thinks pondering over too many fine details can do more harm than good, in which case yes, he does sometimes tell Gort to shove his charts where the sun don't shine. The solution tends to be either starting an argument to distract babygurl, or it includes a lot of ~kissing~ while babygurl keeps complaining that he's actually too busy

Sleep, huh? We don't know her around these parts.

Once upon a time, Yein was a light sleeper, but nowadays, being ashkin means they don't really sleep like most understand it. Rather, Yein goes into a deep meditation.

To assist with this, they've learned to take specific drugs from Odette (@ahollowgrave), who has had far more experience navigating life while being on the opposite end of it. Even in their unlife, true rest comes with difficulties; seeing and hearing ghosts tends to really mess with relaxation! Their mind needs a lot of assistance to settle, which is certainly still a necessity for their mental well-being, even if their flesh no longer deteriorates.

After I had a general sense of the idea for the series (Sukka thinks they're dating Zuko too, Zuko thinks they're all just great friends), I hashed out rules for writing Zukki in this AU:

Sukka is very touchy-feely vs platonically affectionate with Zuko and he notices - so there is a whole lexicon of touches that Sukka would use with each other vs Zuko (arms around the shoulders, leaning, legs in the lap, but no touching of intimate areas)

Zuko is always being included but not realizing it because he always anchors into the different ways he's treated vs Sukka

There needs to be not just Zukki time and activities but dedicated and separate Sukka, Zukka, and Zuki times, with separate activities each pairing do with each other

Sukka is happy that no one is alone for too long given how busy they all are, and they try to make a point of ensuring it and are under the impression Zuko is doing the same (Zuko thinks he is facilitating Sukka time)

They're busy - all three of them being able to spend extended time together is actually relatively rare and a treat, and they tend to celebrate multiple things all at once when it happens and generally just be excited to be together

Sokka is quick with the pet names and "I love yous" (and Zuko writes it off as his general inclination for nicknaming things)

Zuko is very nervous of crossing relationship boundaries - he sometimes feels that he'd take and take and he can't bear the idea of asking for more than they're comfortable giving, or of them pushing him back over the line

Whenever Zuko gets nervous about crossing a relationship boundary Sukka reads it as them crossing a physical discomfort line and backs off

Zukki all had a weird Thing going on before the Comet - like cuddling and touching and sleeping in each other's bedrolls, but it was such a time of high emotional stress that Zuko wasn't really in a frame of mind to act on anything and for him it was always unclear what their relationship was, and afterward, their weird Thing kept going on so that Zuko was caught off guard when it transitioned to sex for Sukka

Zuko can't ever signal prior to actually getting together that he knows threesomes could be a thing (because a few people noticed, Iroh left that out of his otherwise incredibly thorough birds and the bees talk :))

☔ Arg a fic concept I want to explain and share? Honestly, I have so many. And when I mean so many... *so many*.

So the never to be written fic would dive into how each clan would acclimate into Konoha. Specifically between the Uchiha and Senju. They would have to get to know each other without the ‘oh hey we’ve killed each other for so long! But *poof* it’s all good!’ No no, they must go through this.

This would be a slow burn between Tobirama and Madara, and feature Hashirama and Madara friendship.

How did Wendy get her courier job? 👀 If its not a spoiler for your story (if it is give me any headcanons/lore you want to instead)

The Nashes adopted her! Well, kinda.

By the time she met them Wendy was 5 years out of the Legion, so she wasn't really helpless. She was a pretty good hunter and a decent fisherman (still is) and survived mostly by hiding and hunting. With NCR influence spreading across the Mojave it became really really hard for a person to live independently without being claimed a raider and a squatter and getting shot (even if youre just a random homeless teenage girl), so she kinda moved into more close spaced area aka. started to just steal shit from people and live in their attics. That's how she met Nashes :)

They let her Wendy and employed her! She really liked her job & Johnson and Ruby. I like to think she reminded them of their son 😭.

Also she didn't deliver the package to the Divide in my canon. Wendy did walk the Lonesome Road™ but Ulysses called for her for different reason. I'm thinking about 'the sins of a father' type deal, but it can't be ALL about Aletus being a fucking dick. Or can! I'm still thinking about it, but one thing i know for sure: she knew Ulysses before the Divide and he did too.

Thats the only DLC that my Courier was a part of. With all respect, Old World Blues sucked ass (i hate the PENIS VAGINA CUM jokes that both OWB and Fallout 2 are build upon. It's just not funny and it's hard to focus on what little serious lore the campaign has with these annoying ass robots screaming about penises all the time 😭 Im sorry OWB fans I really tried to like this DLC) and I refuse to believe Honest Hearts are real. Dead Money is much fun but it would be really uncharacteristic for Wendy to try and believe the Sierra Madre stuff. She's a very simple person and she doesn't care about money :)

Also yeah Wendy totally kept in contact with Nashes post-canon and even frequently left little Sharky with them! He totally thought they were his real grandparents until he was 15.

A small small detail I just can't resist telling about!!! In his courier au, Aletus found this self-porktrait of wendy in Nashes' house. After he killed them. Because that how justice looks in the eyes of an unjust man.

Bailey looked at the open closet of the room they'd been given (and wasn't that just its own unbelievable kindness, that the heroes would give them a room rather than a cell) with a giddy mixture of awe, gratitude, and disbelief.

"You... you got all this for me?" they asked, voice thick with emotion as they trailed their hand over the soft fabrics.

The closet was filled, filled, with the softest, most comfortable clothing Bailey had ever seen. And all of it looked like things they'd choose to wear, even! There was a mix of feminine and masculine style clothes, and a hefty dose of pieces that could go either way. Soft cotton dresses hung next to sweatpants and t-shirts.

"I hope it's all okay," Foxfire said, sounding unsure. "I picked a lot of it out myself, so if it isn't your style, that's on me. You, um... you mentioned that your style of clothes was something Slipknot took from you. I wanted to... it's stupid, nevermind. Pull out whatever you don't like or doesn't fit and we can exchange it for something that works better, alright?"

Bailey turned to the hero, still holding a hoodie. "It isn't stupid. This is... Foxfire, this means so much. You— you did all this, just for me?"

The hero shrugged, like it didn't really matter, when this was easily the kindest and most thoughtful thing anyone had done for Bailey in years. They looked down, refusing to meet Bailey's gaze. It was hard to tell on their olive complexion, but Bailey thought Foxfire's cheeks were more pink than usual.

Were they... embarrassed?

Bailey didn't have the mental energy to figure out what that meant right at that moment. They tucked the information away for later review.

For now, they pulled on the hoodie. The fabric was the perfect weight and texture, soft and warm against their skin.

It was almost like a hug.

They're both oblivious bisexual disasters who think the other couldn't possibly be interested in them. And I desperately wanted to have Bailey get a proper hug from Zera, but the characters refused to cooperate. So for now, hoodie hug substitute it is.
