au where bruce is attracted to his robins and batgirls. he tries not to think about it or act on it, but it's getting more difficult with every new member of his team he acquires. does anyone know? do the robins and batgirls notice his weird behavior? what do they do about it? do they ever find out the truth? who would think it's terrible and who would find it strangely hot/comforting/nice? does bruce ever act on his feelings?

oh my GOD do i have thoughts for AUs like this, i love this shit so dearly, dirtybadwrong Bruce who's trying to keep a lid on it my beloved.

i think the fun of this AU is if characters would notice Bruce lusting for themselves vs would they notice Bruce lusting for a different Robin/Batgirl. like does Dick pick up on it when it's just him and Bruce? no, because it's just. him and Bruce. he and Bruce are weird and complicated and hold endless bounds of nuance. that's just How Bruce Is, and Dick is the "test run", in a sense. he knows Bruce is new to this whole sidekick/family thing and is giving Bruce grace for being rough around the edges. but when Bruce starts looking at Jason or Tim or Cass that way, that's when Dick starts to notice. it's never enough of a suspicion he feels justified to bring it up, but the thought lingers. he's hyperaware and grows less and less comfortable with leaving them alone with Bruce. it's a weird game of chicken, Dick and Bruce staring each other down when Bruce's touch lingers too long. each waiting for the other to say something first. if Bruce ever broke and actually acted on his feelings, Dick would be eaten alive by the guilt of knowing something was up, but never saying something until it was too late.

obviously, Cass would know. there's no world where Cass *doesn't* know, the nature of who and what she is would immediately clock it. but the issue is, Cass doesn't have a good framework of what family looks like. she doesn't really understand familial vs romantic love bc she has no firsthand experience of what a parent's love should even look like. so she never calls it out. she just watches. i'm a fan of Cass believing this is normal and believing she too can express and act on attraction that's vaguely incestuous. maybe it's with Babs, maybe it's with Dick or Tim or Bruce himself. but she recognizes this as Normal and Accepted within the Batfamily, so it severely fucks up her understanding of familial love and i just. man it's my favorite thing about Cass in Batcest honestly, is how you can play with her lack of experience with love, boundaries, and sexuality.

Tim is the fun one for me. because my favorite flavor of BruTim is when Tim knows, as he agrees to be Robin, that there's a non-zero chance that Bruce is going to be Weird and agrees anyway because he's decided it's an acceptable risk. so Tim knows from the get-go because he's expecting it. if Bruce acts on his attraction, i think it's either with Tim or Cass first, because they're the most likely to confront him about it in a way that isn't entirely negative. Tim has accepted it's a possibility and Cass just seeks being loved and touched so. it leads to the first time someone's ever confronted Bruce about it. and the thing is, Bruce really doesn't like confrontation about his flaws. the first time Tim tries to imply he's okay with it, Bruce would lash out at the idea, tell Tim how inappropriate that is and benches Tim for a week. it'd probably take a united front from Cass and Tim to get Bruce to even *admit* to the attraction. still Bruce wouldn't allow it to happen and he brushes them off until finally, the dam breaks. it's fun if there's a cause like sex pollen, but i think it's *more* fun if it's just. a random fucking Tuesday and finally Bruce is at his limit. he has no real reason, there's nothing particularly different about that day's routine. he just sees Tim or Cass striping armor and sighs and gives in.

i don't think Steph, Jason, or Babs would notice until anything substantial happened. not because they're not wicked smart, but just because none of them were looking for it. Jason put Bruce on a pedestal when he was alive, and when he came back from the dead he wasn't close enough to be noticing Bruce's interpersonal dynamics outside of his narrow scope. Steph has no real framework for what healthy fatherhood looks like, so if Bruce's touches linger, if he stares too long, she just shrugs and assumes it's how it is. and Babs was just never quite close enough to Bruce to notice. if and when she notices, is when actual sexual things start to happen between Cass and Bruce. because Cass would see no reason to hide it. Babs would be pissed, but it'd be tricky to navigate. Cass would be an adult, even if she's only 18/19, so technically, she's old enough to be consenting. if nothing else, Bruce is a careful man. even when he breaks and gives in to his desires, he covers his tracks well. he makes sure he has enthusiastic consent and there's no legal recourse that could be taken. age of consent and all that. there's not much Babs can *do* other than try to tell Cass (and/or Tim) that this isn't normal or okay. not that it gets her anywhere, but god would she try.

by the time Duke comes along (if we venture out of the pre-Flashpoint era) i think it's a sort of. open secret, in the Batfamily. talked about in nothing but hushed whispers and knowing glances. at some point, they've all had sex with Bruce, caving all for different reasons. some more than others. Tim sees it as a duty, Cass sees it as a way of seeking comfort, Steph sees it as getting Bruce's approval for once, etc. it's never forced on them, but eventually, they all come to Bruce sooner or later. and that's the fun irony of it, i think. they try to convince the others not to, but would go to Bruce on their own well. because complicated reasons they can't put into words. sometimes, Bruce is just a messy man who doesn't realize how prized his Attention to for the rest of the Batfamily. that weird duality of not liking him, but also wanting desperately for him to like you. all of them have dealt with it, at some point. so for Duke, it takes a while for him to understand this... whole dynamic. it's Cass who tries to explain it to him, and he's a little horrified, a lot confused. especially when Bruce starts staring at him a little too long as well. i think he'd only want to watch first but well. they all cave eventually.

also fun bonus if we venture into the Dark Knight Returns universe for my bestest girl Carrie Kelley: there's such a like, "i'm fucking around and i'm finding out" vibe to Carrie. like Tim, she's very proactive in just. deciding she's going to be Robin and she's ready for whatever that entails. (IMO canon Carrie is closer to fanon Tim than canon Tim is but *that* deserves its own post-) like she takes one look at the old man that is Batman and goes yup. he's never fucking getting rid of me now. if Bruce started having weird feelings about her, i think she'd have *fun* with it. she's decided she's in it for the long haul and for whatever being Robin means so. she's almost teasing about it, seeing how hard she can push before Bruce snaps. since it's an older, gruffer Bruce, i think he'd express open annoyance at it first, almost a sort of banter about how Carrie behave. but of course he caves and Carrie leans into it, because there's a fun in having all of Bruce's attention to herself. in the main timeline, Bruce is pretty split with so many Robins and Batgirls, but during their era, it's *just* her and him and she's very proud she's got him all to herself.

They throw the papers onto Viago's desk.

"No, Viago!" they bark. "I mean it. Get someone else."

"Don't be childish," he says, disdainful. "All of us have taken unpleasant contracts at one time or another."

They narrow their eyes at him.

"You don't want to do it, either. He gave it to you, didn't he? Because of that shit with the merchant. And now you're dumping it on me."

Conspicuously, he doesn't protest.

"Why? You know there are sadistic fucks in this House that'd jump at the chance."

Viago looks down.

"They couldn't do it," he says, quietly. "They do not have your skills; the training I gave you. He knows that. Anyone else would be killed."

He looks back at them, eyes piercing in the shadows.

"He's setting me up to fail— an excuse to be rid of me."

Leth folds their arms across their chest.

"You're paranoid. He's just pissed at you."

He glares at them.

"I am—"

"I know who you are. But that doesn't mean the Talon's trying to kill you. Why would he? You're an asset— and he has to know what would happen, if he did."

Viago huffs.

"Your revenge would do me little good."

"Would do wonders for me, though."

He frowns lopsidedly at them.

"You still haven't explained why you can't do it," Leth points out. "If I can, I know you're capable."

He looks away from them, out toward the city. Folds his hands together on the desk.

"Vibora…" he says, sounding lost.

Leth watches him carefully for long moments; reading what he cannot say in the lay of his face.

They were right, to begin with— he doesn't want to. But he is not simply delegating an unpleasant task, no; he's… tired. Enervated by this endless dance.

He must be better than all of them, to prove his worth; to silence the rumors that he is no more than a spoiled, rich child leeching off the indulgence of House de Riva at the King’s behest.

He takes more contracts than anyone. He guards himself assiduously; he prepares for every conceivable eventuality. He has done a thousand unpleasant things without objection.

He wants Leth to take this burden from him, to remove the weight of yet another malefaction.

But he can't ask them.

No one has ever taught him the words he wants for now. The vulnerability required to reach for help is beyond him, though he has such need of it.

Their world has filled him with loss ∴ he overflows with pride.

Leth's gaze softens.

"Alright," they say, quietly. "It's alright— I'll do it, Viago."

They lean over the desk, putting a hand near where his still lie folded.

"Promise me something," they say.

He nods.

They know he would give them anything, now— but they would never take it.

☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?

oh boy do i hahaha

firstly is a Reading The Books fanfic - i even have a doc filled with ideas, such as whose pov it is each chapter, which chapters I'd do, who I all want to be there, ect ect.

There are a lot of really good RRverse reading the books fics out there, but none of them have really been able to truly capture the system of the gods we see in ToA (besides fics written by ToA fans, such as Gods' Eye View or The Human Within The Sun.)

Furthermore, besides ToA fans, nobody ever does ToA in their reading the books series - for various reasons. I just really want a reading the books series that drags the broken system into the spotlight for everyone to see, and ToA is the ultimate straw to break the camel's back for this.

plus, I know people are fond of making the gods like a happy-ish family (especially with the demigods) but let's be real here - it's way more fun when we lean into the canon implications that the gods compete with each other, and do to a point essentially treat their kids as commodities (with exceptions, at times. no god is perfect in the rrverse).

plus plus, the ToA fandom has cooked up EXCELLENT theories and I think a reading the books fic would be a GREAT way to bring all those ideas to life! Such as the twins being aware the di Angelos' are Hades's kids, and that's why Artemis is so pushy with Bianca joining the Hunt! Or Estelle being an omen of the end of times - a secret Apollo keeps to himself post-ToA, and perhaps the revelation of Estelle's existence kickstarts the #REVOLUTION like it does in the fic Over The Palisade!

you all know how I love to dig into characters, and this would be the PERFECT fic to do that.

but that's not going to happen anytime soon lmao - these fics are time-consuming, and require lots of time and dedication, neither of which I am equipped to handle at the time.

perhaps years down the line I will. we shall see <3

Anya sleeps on whichever side of the bed is closest to the window, this comes from when she was younger and had to always be ready to run—either from her 'boss' or people after him.

She LOVES frozen yoghurt, get her some of that and she will put you down on the very short list of 'they can't be that bad they got me yoghurt'—Yes this is a real list she has. She has different lists for different categories she puts people in it's like a hobby to go with her people watching.

She feeds stray animals and once she's in Hope County she sets up little nooks for them everywhere, usually where she thinks people don't usually go because she doesn't want them to be bothered.

She's good with kids but she get's reminded of her little brothers very easily so she avoids them when she can, she misses being a big sister.

Before she and Mary May dated she would recite russian poems to her and never translated them faithfully because they were all small confessions in their own right, small outlets to get her feelings out without actually having to face Mary May's reaction.

3. What is your OC’s worst memory?

He doesn't truly remember it but it was the year he's spent at Kressa's. He was hurt, confused, with severe brain damage, and, worst of all, completely helpless. Most of the scars he has are from Kressa (minus those on his face and throat) and he still has pretty bad flashbacks that are only worse because he can't remember. He's never been at someone's mercy like that before and he never wants to be again.

14. Would your OC let themselves be forced into a loveless marriage?

He'd agree almost for the laughs of it, he doesn't care for romance, more if he'd find the other person interesting. If the other person would also be forced into the marriage, he'd find that entertaining, the more they disliked him the funnier. Once they'd become boring to him, he'd find a way to become a widower real quick though.

27. How does your OC deal with rejection?

Depends on what it was he wanted that he didn't get. If he gets rejected for sex or something like that, he shrugs and takes it well, if it's something where he actually did want something, or if he expected to get it, he can get very shitty real quick. Doesn't take that type of no for an answer and attempts to manipulate the person into giving him whatever it was he asked for. He's pretty good at convincing people his wants are their ideas.

This question did stump me because I think pretty much all of my ships are non-modern and I struggle to imagine them in situations with modern music. So I'll just pick one of my go-to songs I listen to for setting the vibes when I write soft scenes of confessions, with lyrics that I think represent the ships well.

Princes: Skin - Marika Hackman (there's literally So Many I have for princes but this is the one I listened to most when writing Stay)

MalMiq: Unconditionally - Roniit (there's also so many for MalMiq but this is the first song on my FoR playlist for a reason)

🤔What are some words or phrases you find yourself overusing?

Oh there's so many, I think right now my biggest nemesis is the word "as" purely because of how I write in past tense. I've been trying to use it less to make my sentences more dynamic and interesting but ough it's hard.

Not necessarily a specific word or phrase but if I write for the same ship enough I will reuse the same gestures of intimacy between them repeatedly and even certain phrases they say to each other unconsciously. This is what kills me in the editing process is I'll be reading a scene and realize 'oh this sounds exactly like the scene from X fic'. It happened with Princes, it's currently happening with MalMiq (how many times will there be a focus on Malenia's thighs? So many and with no plans to stop), and I'm just trying to tell myself it's fine, people who read multiple of my fics probably don't mind it and people who only read one will be reading it for the first time. I always try and make it unique though as best I can by either the situation or emotional crux driving it so even if the actions are the same the underlying motives and meanings are different.

🦗Do you write in sequence or jump around?

I very rarely write out of sequence, it's partially why I don't feel too uncomfortable posting long fics chapter by chapter, but it does mean I don't get the opportunity to go back and make minor adjustments to prior chapters to better foreshadow certain things. For example in RM because I posted it all after I finished writing I went back and added small references to Knight General Godwyn in the first few chapters so his appearance was else jarring when I did introduce him. I'd do the same thing for FoR if I wasn't posting it chapter by chapter, like including a mention of Siluria's lessons instead of introducing her presence so late, but usually it's minor things like that.

Otherwise I either have a very strong vision of what I intend to write in terms of major plot beats (even if my outlines and notes are uh frighteningly sparse and vague) and/or I trust myself to be cohesive as I write. Usually this means going back and re-reading previous chapters while writing the next one, which is why updates take longer and longer the deeper I get into a long fic.

☕Coffee or tea while you write?

Coffee for sure, I'm not a tea person at all. I also basically only drink water, coffee, and energy drinks though I'm trying to cut energy drinks back out. I'm a terrible host because all I ever have for guests is water or coffee lol.

⏳If you could go back in time and tell your younger writer self something, what would it be?

Oh I'd absolutely tell my younger self not to take a 10 year break from writing and that as busy as I am, it's worth it to continue doing something I love and not to let work/life trample on my hobbies. It's still one of my biggest regrets honestly, and I think of how much I could have accomplished in those years, but it's fine now I'm just glad I'm back to doing a hobby I love. 😊

That's actually so true. I went into One Piece like. Zoro and Sanji. These are the ones I am sure of it. And that lasted for a little while but Shanks was so silly and goofy and sweet that he was always just sort of sitting off to the side in my mind (waiting to pounce), and it was one of those things where like.

The more I talked about him, and the more I theorized about what he was up to, and the more I looked at him and listened to his voice and found myself comforted by him, the more I was actively digging a hole lmfao. Until I looked up one day and was like........................................I think a future with him would actually fix me.

I'll kinda jaunt around bc One Piece is the way it is (-gestures at Crocodile-, had Kid fever for a while, I absolutely adore Sabo, I'm a lil in love with Mihawk always), but I got blindsided by the mack truck of his wonderfulness early and he's always where I end up coming back to. Not 100% sure on the definition of retirement blorbo but I do think he's the one for me.

I have conflicting feelings about Jason, too, but people talking about him negatively like this is kind of rare. I mean, with giving examples lol. There are a lot of people who don't like him, I know, but nobody goes on a ramble. I want some amazing rambles, you have no idea. But I guess I do get it, some Jason fan might come into your inbox and try to fight about him. Kind of like a divorced parent about their kid :/

"divorced parent defending their kid" is such a funny way to frame the kind of fans that climb into your inbox and get mad about it thank you I love it. Also to be clear, y'all (general) are getting one chance. I get something nasty in my inbox and it's getting deleted and anon is going off. Don't fuck this up for everyone.

Unfortunately my feelings about Jason boil down to: I don't believe in the death penalty as a way to fix society, and I certainly don't believe in it just because some snotty nineteen year old is like, really passionate about it.

Also his fans can be really fucking annoying. (<- not exclusive to Jason however)

As a character he's interesting, because most of the time he's a straight up villain! He didn't come back wrong, he came back and decided to become wrong, because the world didn't greive him the way he thought was right. He's selfish and stubborn and self righteous, he's only half serious about fixing Gotham at all and mostly interested in consolidating power in a way that looks like he's helping, if you tilt your head and squint real hard, he kills people because he thinks crime can make you irredeemable while insisting if Batman truly cared he would do the same, all while ignoring the fact that he would be one of the first to die, by his own criteria.

He has good intentions, sometimes, maybe, if you blink and it's Tuesday and the writer wants to do something "different" but mostly he cares more about some convoluted revenge plot that is doomed to failure then he does about following through, and he is his own worst enemy because of it.

He decided he could buy the moral high ground with blood and now he's up to his knees and drowning in it.

But specifically "Batman would be more welcome then Red Hood"? I'm referring to the fact that Batman beats you up and puts you in prison, and then WE or a related subsidiary is willing to hire you when you get out. There are multiple canon examples of Batman/Bruce offering ex-goons/henchmen positions at WE, including health care and chances to move up. Red Hood offers you a bullet to the back of your skull, or a chance to be a henchman for him. The options he offers you are die a criminal or, sometimes, join his gang.

I think the choices between the two are obvious.

She’s really young here - it’s one of the times Mina ran away from the Chantry back to the Grand Necropolis. She’s probably between 5-7 years old.

29. MW!Rook exploring a new part of the Necropolis.

“Hey, wait!” the man’s voice echoes, following her. Mina’s feet scrape against the rocky soil as she runs, but she barely feels it. She scrambles up the craggy rock face, nimbly avoiding weak spots, her prize - a small fabric bundle - dangling from her teeth. Reaching the top, Mina continues running, not even pausing to look around. She runs up multiple sets of stairs, around buildings and statues and through multiple rooms before finally stopping, out of breath. A few wisps float down, watching as Mina creeps around a marble pillar. She takes the bundle out of her mouth, pushing her hair out of her face with her other hand. Peeking into the room, heart still pounding, Mina is surprised and delighted to find it’s a brand new place!

There’s a huge empty space in the middle, with a big stone table and some sort of short fence around the edge. Mina doesn’t see anyone, so she keeps running, scampering around the edge of the room. The wisps follow, bathing Mina in bright blue light. Her breaths come quicker & her eyes dart around the room as she hisses at the wisps, baring her teeth. They flee, leaving her in the comfortable cover of darkness once again.

Clutching the bundle to her chest, she scurries up a set of stairs, dust billowing up around her. There’s a small bench along the wall here, but Mina doesn’t bother with it, scaling a nearby pillar instead. At the top, she stretches, trying to find a handhold on the marble ledge above her. Her heart feels like it’s going to burst out of her chest, and her ears are filled with a loud, rhythmic whooshing noise. She clenches her teeth around the fabric, closing her eyes for just a second - and then she pushes off the pillar, half-jumping, half-pulling herself over the ledge.

Mina rolls over, lying flat against the cool marble floor, breathing heavily from her nose. After a moment, she sits up, scooting backwards until she can no longer see most of the room beneath her. Satisfied, she finally sets the fabric bundle down, tugging at the knot until it comes undone. Opening it, Mina eagerly digs through the layers of rough fabric and eventually, fine linen, her mouth watering. Within seconds she’s crouched over, holding the soft doughy crescents in both hands, tearing into them with her teeth. Her mouth fills with the sharp tanginess of fermented cabbage, awakening her tastebuds. Each bite has a slightly new taste: soon, smooth, earthy mushrooms and sweet, jammy caramelised onions join the melody of flavours.

It’s over all too soon, and Mina sits back on her heels, licking any traces she can find from her fingers. The human man she stole from this time had good food. Much better than some of the other people she finds here. It would be really good to have it again, so Mina tries to remember what he looked like. She thinks he had pretty light hair, like Sister Irena’s. He definitely had really big ears. She remembers those the most.

As she settles into the corner of her newfound hideaway, sleepy and content, Mina smiles, pleased with herself. She didn’t get caught, even though the people she found today saw her, and she found a new place! And she even had really good food! Tomorrow she’ll have to find something interesting to show the wisps, to make up for scaring them off today. Maybe some cool bones or a really big beetle or something…

it's just an excuse. it's obvious that lois knows who he is — and, idly, he can't help thinking that the bsaa's done a pretty shit job of covering up their whereabouts if she'd been able to find him. a lot of good hiding does when one stubborn reporter decides to go looking for the truth, it seems. still though, if she can find him, what's to stop all the others from doing the same?

a short pause, followed by, “ ... you should probably leave it alone, though. you don't want to get mixed up in all that. ” that warning alone is more of an admittance than he should even dare to give, but he doesn't want any more innocent people getting wrapped up in all this bullshit.

Sukka is very touchy-feely vs platonically affectionate with Zuko and he notices - so there is a whole lexicon of touches that Sukka would use with each other vs Zuko (arms around the shoulders, leaning, legs in the lap, but no touching of intimate areas)

Zuko is always being included but not realizing it because he always anchors into the different ways he's treated vs Sukka

There needs to be not just Zukki time and activities but dedicated and separate Sukka, Zukka, and Zuki times, with separate activities each pairing do with each other

Sukka is happy that no one is alone for too long given how busy they all are, and they try to make a point of ensuring it and are under the impression Zuko is doing the same (Zuko thinks he is facilitating Sukka time)

They're busy - all three of them being able to spend extended time together is actually relatively rare and a treat, and they tend to celebrate multiple things all at once when it happens and generally just be excited to be together

Sokka is quick with the pet names and "I love yous" (and Zuko writes it off as his general inclination for nicknaming things)

Zuko is very nervous of crossing relationship boundaries - he sometimes feels that he'd take and take and he can't bear the idea of asking for more than they're comfortable giving, or of them pushing him back over the line

Whenever Zuko gets nervous about crossing a relationship boundary Sukka reads it as them crossing a physical discomfort line and backs off

Zukki all had a weird Thing going on before the Comet - like cuddling and touching and sleeping in each other's bedrolls, but it was such a time of high emotional stress that Zuko wasn't really in a frame of mind to act on anything and for him it was always unclear what their relationship was, and afterward, their weird Thing kept going on so that Zuko was caught off guard when it transitioned to sex for Sukka

Zuko can't ever signal prior to actually getting together that he knows threesomes could be a thing (because a few people noticed, Iroh left that out of his otherwise incredibly thorough birds and the bees talk :))

Who handles my fussing and overbearing possessiveness easily and loves me just as fiercely in return. You know it as much as I do, nephew. I love with my whole heart. They will become my stars and guiding light. The very reason I breathe. So when they gossip about how picky I am, they aren't entirely wrong."

Katsuro reaches out, fingertips touching Tobirama's cheeks, and he leans into it. Leans into that unspoken ask for honesty and offering of unconditional love.

"So, who holds my nephew's heart that you are weighing your options more seriously than any experiments you've run?"

Madara.

"Another alpha," Tobirama says, watching his uncle process that information. Watching with scrutiny, although his heart pounds in his chest. His uncle's fingers still haven't left his face. He knows his uncle would never hurt or yell-

"That doesn't answer who, pup," Katsuro says, golden eyes glittering in amusement.

Tobirama sighs in relief and nuzzles the hand still there. "Madara," Tobirama lets the word slip through his lips like a breath of fresh air. "I know it'll make waves if Madara accepts, but my heart has chosen."

Katsuro huffs out a laugh and pats his cheek before pulling away. "Once a Hatake finds their heart, they will take no other," he agrees. "I will help you even if it's just support. But before all of that, you must approach your heart. Then you tackle the rest."

☔ Arg a fic concept I want to explain and share? Honestly, I have so many. And when I mean so many... *so many*.

So the never to be written fic would dive into how each clan would acclimate into Konoha. Specifically between the Uchiha and Senju. They would have to get to know each other without the ‘oh hey we’ve killed each other for so long! But *poof* it’s all good!’ No no, they must go through this.

This would be a slow burn between Tobirama and Madara, and feature Hashirama and Madara friendship.

Hatake lineage for the Senju Brothers - Ft a more feral Tobirama.
