I bind books right- usually notebooks or project Gutenberg classics etc, and occasionally fanfic when I just can’t live without it (or for friends)

Why is it so many people’s first response to be like ‘you should sell that’ NO. NO ITS A CRAFT. ITS FOR FUN. ILL GIVE IT TO YOU. I’ve made over twenty books but I only have 4 to myself. I’ll gift it you. To anyone. But selling that would a) be illegal, in the case of fanfic (rip to my friend to had to listen to my angry rant about the history of fanfic when he said that) and b) defeat the point!!! It’s a HOBBY. I do it along side work, and uni, for FUN. It wouldn’t be fun if I did it for money bc there would be pressure to make everything perfect when half of the beauty of a handmade book is the little imperfections that make them unique and NOT machine made.

Idk about anyone else but I feel so uncomfortable publishing fanfic in the marauders fandom or even talking/discussing HCs and meta etc. like under every post here people are attacking/getting attacked for ships, characterisations, characters- and it always feels like you’re wrong? Im all for individual interpretation and I’ll never yuck anyone else’s yum I just won’t engage with it but apparently a bunch of you didn’t get the memo.

A lot of it seems to be ship wars (y’know what- sure. Ship wars exist in every fandom whatever I just wish people tagged more appropriately), fanon vs canon (which for me is a little blurry bc I gravitate towards canon characterisations but also I can’t pretend like I know much about the ho canon and honestly I don’t want to reread the books because I’m not interested in stuffing JKRs awful and blatant bigotry in my own face), and then there seems to be nearly a generational divide and the handheld superiority complex that goes along with it about what stages of the marauders fandom was the best and how it sucks now. I think this is an interesting one since my main fandom is >15 years old and this issue doesn’t seem to exist.

It makes me a little sad because i genuinely love fandoms and interacting with fandom and writers and artists but yeah i just find it so uncomfortable here. But at the same time i want to interact and see the art and fic and creation that comes out of it but ugh at what cost man.

Also I am. Constantly forgetting how fucking funny Hunter is. We never give him enough credit for how funny he is because his life is so fucked up but I swear 90% of his lines are just bit after bit after bit. He's not even trying either. Anytime he actively tries to make a joke it falls flat but if you just put him in a Scenario he'll find a way to be so over invested and yet out of touch/at odds with whatever's going on. He's so autistic

#the owl house #ramblings of a lunatic #i forget hunters character voice A Lot #plus the most recent ep is always whats most clear in my mind (so rn that's ftf) and he's obvs much more angsty in that one #idk ppl credit thanks to them as the first time Hunter was like happy and silly #but i highkey think asias was the prelude to that. like i think the events of that day are so vivid and special to hunter #precisely bc it's the first time he's interacted with witches his age in a non hostile or strained way #it's the first time on screen we see him have fun doing something that isn't deranged #yeah whatever souls are made of his and willows are the same. but more importantly her gus and the rest make him laugh #that's important for the guy canonically having the worst day of his life Every Day #part of why huntlow appealed to me initially was that it was hunters first taste of like. normal teenagedom #not the romance with willow (cause that's barely an undercurrent in asias) but flyer derby and hexside in general #and that's part of why willow and later gus r like. his safe space #and thus why it's so significant that he goes out of his way to protect (keep them safe) too #anyway enough hunter thoughts for tonight. i love him but this isn't my Brand

I’ve mentioned on my priv twt that Zoro calls Sanji “廚子” (chu zi) in the Chinese translation and that somehow sounds… romantic? “Cook” or コック in English/Japanese sounds like just your average nickname among dudebros but 廚子 sounds like something you’d call your wife (if you’re some grumpy old man). Maybe it’s coz Chinese people have a habit of calling their spouses insulting nicknames (see: 臭婆娘、老婆子 which are just variations of “old hag”😭), so we can’t help but interpret zosan as some boomer “ol’ ball and chain” couple

#it’s always funny seeing westerners view sanji’s attitute towards zoro or men in general as toxic bc he’s verbally mean #but he’s the epitome of a Chinese parent who gives you food while insulting you #him and zoro are exactly how the average old Chinese couple act #maybe that’s why zosan is so popular in China/east Asia #zosan #ramblings #stew watches op

this chapter made me so emo about Keiichi. I still don't really get what his deal is but for him to start out as a bully and a petty rival, and then this??

boy loves his hometown so much that he literally has no greater ambition than to live and die in it. meanwhile his brother has his sights on the NHL; Rou is aiming for the Olympics. is it heartwarming that Keiichi treasures his home so much that he can't see anything beyond it, or sad that he has hundreds of photos of the same factory smokestack that he's already planning to die staring at??

I don't know. but Noda could have easily made Keiichi the hotshot rival who thinks he deserves the best in the world, but instead he made Keiichi a big fish dreaming only of his small pond.

#there's also the extra layer of how these chapters keep casually bringing up how fleeting this all is #19 year winning streak destroyed in a day. the winners? town destroyed in a tsunami in a day #last year's hotshot players now public enemy number one #'your dad would have been the best player on the team if wasn't for the injury in college'#it feels like everyone who goes into professional sports has to acknowledge what a short shelf life there is #you get ten good years maybe twenty and then you have to retire and do something else #keiichi's lack of ambition is kind of surprisingly refreshing. he wants to play for the local asia league team and thats it #you shouldn't HAVE to aim for worldwide recognition! VERY few people will ever get that!#but at the same time. keiichi just keeps saying 'we just gotta win our throne back' but almost everyone else around him is thinking about #what comes after that. what else they want to do.#in the last chapter keiichi looked down on rou because he thought rou was bringing down their chances of regaining the throne #but rou immediately shot back that all keiichi is aiming for is high school while he's aiming for the olympics #like. you cant BE rivals when it turns out youre aiming for different things!#anyway im rambling #its like theres some instinct in keiichi that recognizes this is fleeting this can't go that far. keep your dreams pragmatic #dogsred #manga caps #dogsred caps
