Thinking about how Prime Defenders s2 was NOT supposed to end as well as it did... The ending Bizly had the biggest plan for was the one where they didn't work with Mal and Ashe wasn't saved and the demons got out and then s3 was going to be fucking apocalyptic (would have loved that tbf). Ashe was supposed to come back as a ghost and William was meant to help her move on. PD kinda did everything wrong (didn't get the book, didn't gather relics) and maybe they released something worse (Mal) but in the end they did what they set out to do. They saved Ashe.

Something I think is extremely interesting thematically when it comes to connecting what Downfall and the ideas it tackled to the overarching narrative of campaign three is that the things Downfall made a point to showcase of Aeor—Cassida, Hallis, the visual of an aeormaton proposing to her partner, the specific and intentional decision to shed light on a far from insignificant amount of the population being civilians or refugees—is that it plays in perfect parallel across from what is happening (and, really, has been happening) to the ruidusborn on Exandria in present.
Bear with me for a moment. Aeor is ultimately a city that was collectively punished for the decisions of its leadership. We could (and, judging by the amount of discourse around this particular topic already, probably will) argue about what the Gods’ motivation for all of this was—whether it be that they could not, in the end, bear to kill their siblings or that they were terrified at the prospect of mortality—for me it is a very healthy dose of both—but for this I am much more interested in the latter. They were scared. That, really, is the driving force behind both this arc and their role in c3 as a whole.
Why I point this out is: It is far more interesting to me, especially as we go back to Bells Hells this week, to dissect the Gods and their decisions not purely on sympathetic motivation alone but as beings in the highest seat of power in the highest social class in Exandria.
So, having established that the Gods (in relation to mortals) are more a higher social class than anything we could compare to our real life understanding of divinity and that Aeor was eviscerated largely because of their fear—what is the difference between those innocents in Aeor caught in the trappings of their autocratic government leadership and a divine war on the ground, and those of the ruidusborn being manipulated both by Ludinus and by the very thing that inspired such visceral fear in the Gods to start with. I would argue very little.
I think of Cassida, doing what she genuinely thought was right and good and would save people, her son, and the object of her worship—and how that did not matter enough to any of them to spare her because of the fear they held at the very concept of mortality. I think of Liliana and Imogen, one of which we know begged for the gods to help her or send her a sign for years on years, and how every single one of their largest struggles could have been avoided had the gods loved them, their supposed children, as much as they feared what they could be. I think of how the thing that did save Imogen, in the end, was a woman who herself existed in direct defiance of the gods will. I think of that young boy, sixteen years old, that Laudna exalted on Ruidus.
I think it’s completely fair to judge Aeor’s overall society as deeply corrupt—it was!—but its leadership and police force are not a reflection of every one of its citizens. Similarly, it is fair to judge the Ruby Vanguard as corrupt—it is!—but its multiple heads of leadership and even the god-eater further are not a reflection of every one of its members.
Notably, and what I think the Hells will latch onto, this did not matter to the Gods. It did not matter that Cassida was trying to help. She was still too much of a risk. Will it matter, what Imogen does? Will it matter, if that young boy is in the blast radius when they decide to take no further chances?
I’ve seen a lot of people say that the Hells will side with the gods and I don’t think I agree. Especially as Imogen has been scolded and villainized over and over for daring to try and save her mother—who herself has been seen by some as an irredeemable evil in spite of her drive being the exact same—her family—but when it’s the Gods it’s justified? When it’s the Gods, it’s sympathetic? Too sympathetic to criticize further than “they’re family”?
I obviously do not think the Gods should die or be eaten or what have you, and I certainly don’t agree with Ludinus (though I find him much more compelling than just a variation of hubris wizard), but when talking about the Gods in Aeor and in present it isn’t really at all about their motivation or their family. It can’t be. Too many people, including our active protagonists, lives have been effected for it to be as cut and dry as “they’re family”. These are your children. They are your family, too.
#critical role#cr meta#cr spoilers#critical role spoilers#imogen temult#liliana temult#ludinus da'leth#does this make sense. I feel like i lost my initial thread somewhere around the middle bc my brain is currently spread very thin#but tldr: it is extremely interesting to me that the fall of aeor is such a perfect parallel to the ruidusborn#i could also go on endlessly ENDLESSLY about how cassida and liliana play the exact same role#and also i could go on even longer on what divinity as a concept even means in a world like exandria#and how trying to compare it to our real life understanding of divinity is a bit fruitless#on the basis that a person can become a god alone but also that they themselves undeniably exist#but its so good. it ties in so well. brennan did a fucking fantastic job at capturing the abject horror of it all#also aabria iyengar if you can hear me PLEASE bring deanna back i will send you fifty dollars#and also hello i very briefly said hello at the live show and wanted to tell you how incredible i think you are but alas#where did these tags go#anyway#WOAH this is long. I should’ve been writing fic. alas.#really I don't think any of the hells are gonna be able to just. gloss over the casualties of it all. but especially mog and ashton and lau#tal has even already said that downfall made some things better for ash and some things Worse so I know I'm not too far off#I have. many many thought on how laudna will see it all too.#truly think she is going to be the most vocally horrified

"I'd certainly say more than ok, but I don't want to start gushing. I think that'd probably be embarrassing for both of us." she laughed, before feeling her cheeks flush at the sweet comment. "Ok, now i know you're messing with me because there's no way." But still, their words definitely made her falter. "I'd offer to buy you a drink, but since it's an open bar... Can I get you a drink instead?"

. continued from this | @musesofchaos--Uchiha Itachi
Tumblr media
It had only taken seconds for the door to be answered, but for Ame, each second extended into infinity. He was...nervous. Yes, nervous. What it was Uchiha Itachi? Was if it was not? He did not know, for once he did know.
As the door was opened, Ame flinched and stared at the man on the other side who stared back as if looking into a mirror. It was Uchiha Itachi. And yet, he looked different from the photographs Ame had seen of him in his textbooks. But, it was him, not a doubt.
As Itachi inquired Ame if he could help him, all of sudden, the boy's mind went blank. He had written down and memorized everything he wished to say to Itachi but for once, he could remember none of it.
"I..." Ame uttered after a moment of silence, clearing his threat. "I apologize for disturbing you. You are Uchiha Itachi, yes? I am Katsu Amaterasu--though, I go by Ame." He paused, trying to remember so desperately what he wrote but nothing came to him. So, he decided to improvise and get to the point--and get to the point he did.
"And I believe you are my father?"

WHERE: maiden alley cinema WHEN: 21st august WHO: anyone! ( @anchoragestarters ) CAP: fully capped, no longer accepting replies!
If there was one thing that Ash Yoon didn't like (and this should come with the understanding that there were in fact a great many things that he didn't like and he was frequently glad to tell people so but also that this was something he particulated hated), it was the feeling of being watched. Growing up, nothing had been drilled into him by his father with more vigilance than the idea that he needed to avoid suveillance at all cost and now there was this thing in his apartment, just staring at him. Maybe he needed to stop personifying it. Not important. What matters was that he'd returned to the apartment complex with full intentions of marching into his apartment and falling face first into his couch. However, before he could even get to the elevator, he'd overheard chitchat in the hallway about a certain clap-operated surveillance system failing, complete with rumours that a few residents had been locked in their apartments. His response to this news had been a simple, internal, 'fuck this, I'm not dealing with this' and a quick heel turn back out the door.
"Y'know what? Fuck Clappy," said Ash, speaking aloud for all to hear, as he dropped to a low squat in the middle of the cinema's lobby and tore open a box of Milk Duds. Don't ask when or how he got those. (The trick to swiping stuff was to pretend you always had it.) Some might call this an outburst but he was more than happy to have his feelings be known. "I hope Clappy dies."

As a big sibling with a lil sib with epilepsy, when they read TBC they Honestly thought if they got struck with lightning reciting the lord's prayer they'd be cured like Shadowsight is from their epilepsy. I had a discussion with them on how that's not how it works, but ge was so upset they took it away from Shadowsight that he hasn't picked the books back up and has stated that 'he hopes Ashfur wins and starts a new religion.,'
I do not even know how to respond to this besides saying that your little sibling is 100% right to be pissed and I now also hope Ashfur wins and starts a new religion.
#Legit I did not know that Shadow's epilepsy being taken away was so deeply upsetting to SO MANY people#I put it back because putting it back was just the right thing to do (even asked the small following I had at the time what type to portray#(they picked the full tonic-clonics. I would have just done localized or absence if they'd asked me to)#And I did all that research for one single anon who asked for an epilepsy herb guide#So holy cow I didn't know that SO MANY people were snubbed and upset by canon's choice to do that. I'm so sorry#Your little sib isn't missing anything btw they do just go on to confirm that Shadow no longer has seizures.#In book 4 of TBC they say that it was all Ash all along and that's what they've stuck with into ASC#I'm sitting on an essay about... That plot thread. The Ashfur Grooming one#But it's in my drafts because I was a bit afraid of controversy#because i think it was written poorly. Even on top of Book 4's pivot to retcon away Shadow's seizures#I know a lot of people like and are invested in the grooming subplot of TBC. But. I think it was executed AWFULLY#and its really telling that THIS is the plot they tout as grooming *by name* in-canon.--#--and that Shadow has to 'pay' for what he 'did' in some way as if there was ever a choice in the books they wrote--#--But seemingly didn't even seem to clock that what was happening in Spotted's H was grooming until there was intense backlash#and a big part of my contention is the way that Book 4 suddenly tries to retcon that Shadow was groomed from the time he was a child#when it was actually part of book 1 that Shadow was able to personally tell the difference between a real vision and Ash's suggestions--#--BECAUSE he didn't have an accompanying seizure#So like... just know it's also NOT just 'you' if you connected to the character that was epileptic. It WAS there. It was a BIG part of him#Book 4 retconned it so that his epilepsy was part of a long scheme when before that point it was part of him#''ohh ur destiny is to see into the shadows'' BULL SHIT!!#bone babble

Things had been going good for some time now. She owed so much to Blue for taking her in when everything seemed to be caving in. When she felt like her only way out was to surrender herself over to those who would just torture her to understand her. These days that notion seemed to stupid. It wasn't easy at first, the constant battles of trying to not burn down everything around her seemed impossible. But now, now she couldn't even remember why she couldn't control it in the first place.
Being able to control it let her be able to find a job and contribute some way to the home that Blue had invited her in to. Let her make her own when she had no where else to turn to. So when things were slow at the book store, she requested to take off early, stopping by the store to grab groceries to make something. She wasn't a cook, but she was going to try her best as a small token of gratitude.
Smiling as she entered the kitchen, she called out. "Hey, I'm home early I was thinking abou-" Her words disappeared as she froze in the doorway at the sight that was before her. Hands dropped the bags they were holding with an audible loud crash as things spilled out. Her hands were hearing up from the sudden surprise and if she didn't control this she'd burn this room down. Tears welled in her eyes as she forced herself to breath.
She wanted to hold him but didn't know if it would hurt him. She wanted to ask him what had happened. When had this happened? He didn't look like this when she left for work that morning. She wanted to do and say so many things but all that came from her mouth as she lowered them down slowly and placed them on her abdomen under her shirt to control the small flames that came from the surprise, was a meek, small barely audible, "Blue?" Unable to reconcile the vision before her with the man she knew.

❓️What are your real feeling for Jeremiah?
SEND ❓+ A QUESTION AND MY MUSE HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO ANSWER TRUTHFULLY
He hesitated to answer the question for a long time, confronting and reflecting internally on his own feelings that he's been trying to ignore in the years, only at ease to know his truthful answer will simply be lost to the void if he spoke here, no one needed to know, no one needed a mess he'd create.
"...I love him. In its simplest forms of the term, and its most complicated forms of the term. He was the first person I met here and despite whatever tough exterior he pretends there is, all I saw was kindness and understanding, -or maybe it was just pity I don't know. But then we got closer, helped me through that year of sobriety, always hanging out with the Roses, subconsciously always by his side when we all hung out. I knew it maybe two years back (though JP is convinced he's seen it ever since the beginning, I've always denied everything to him, but I see the way he pushes and nudges), but I've just ignored it, painted the feelings as just the same love I had for Charlie and JP. That was easier to lie to myself that way anyways to avoid any pain. ..I love Jeremiah enough to know he doesn't deserve a mess of this problem if I was to be selfish about my feelings. I don't deserve to be selfish here. Plus, whatever he has.. going on with Sada, it's not my place to be selfish. He doesn't need anything else ruined for him in his life when so much already has. The friendship we have is good -is enough, Charlie and JP both say Jer's better with it, and so am I.
I love him - undoubtedly, unequivocally and unquestionably so. And I love him too much to be a person to ruin our friendship and ruin something in his life again. Until that changes, this is enough." @jeremiah-rose

The walls of the ratty gym were now laced with large holes and claw marks, appearing as if a wild beast had ravaged the place. Laying on the concrete floor was a torn-up punching bag, and it was a rather heavy and sturdy one, too.
The red-haired man who lurched over the ripped punching bag was seething with an unbridled rage, far worse than how he was before. Iori had pictured himself tearing that little punk to pieces to help alleviate said rage. It seems that this wasn't enough, however - Iori will make sure to put Ash through as much pain and suffering as possible before he tears off his head.
As the tournament was drawing nearer, he knew that he had to compensate for the loss of his flames by training as hard as possible. Since then, he found himself oscillating between himself and the more savage side that was created by Orochi. For days on end, his mind was foggy, and even his band mates were concerned about him, as they knew that something was off. He often skipped rehearsals and isolated himself from the world more than ever before.
Except when it came to visiting Chizuru, who was completely helpless without her family's treasure. He would often stop by to check in on her to make sure that she was recovering from the incident. The last time he saw her, however, resulted in a phrase that wormed itself into Iori's brain.
You will finally be able to live a normal life again.
That did absolutely nothing to assuage the rage that was slowly brewing in his psyche. He hasn't been feeling normal since his magatama was stolen, and he was supposed to be grateful for it?!
This malaise has been plaguing him for days on end, and it came to a boiling point.
At this point in time, both the man and his inner beast were now one. And they wanted to spill the blood of the individual responsible for all of this.

how do you imagine will and anya's relationship to be in season iii? her and hannibal? did her and hannibal keep in contact while he was locked away in prison? does she blame will for the reason hannibal is incarcerated ( even tho he surrendered himself like the ultimate simp )? // @devilswill
Tumblr media
Buckle up, boys! This will be a long one!
Okay, I think to fully answer these questions we have to first consider the way Anya unconsciously attaches to people in general. First of all, she is and has almost always been very co-dependent and anxiously-attached. She’s really sensitive to real and perceived rejections, and terrified of being alone. This, of course, stems from her trauma but also a singular lesson ingrained in her very, very early on: everyone and everything she loves can and will be taken from her by the person who holds the most power. Now some might take this to mean you’re safest if you hold all the power but Anya never held any illusions that she was capable of that. So, instead she employs the trauma response of fawning. Anya attaches herself very deeply to the person who she believes holds the most power in her life and models herself after what she thinks they want. This does two things for her: it ensures her safety, and it ensures that she won’t lose the person she loves because no one can take them away. For her first three years of life, her mother was this person, of course, and then her father killed her mother and he became that person to her, and then the FBI removed her from his home and influence and Hannibal became that person. Her sense of self is based off this person, as well as her sense of morality because she sees morality in terms of what will or won’t get her in trouble with this person, and after 14 with society itself as it is the most powerful entity and she fears the captivity that comes when society rejects you.
Will himself is something of an exception to Anya. All her life, there has been one person to please. She has interacted with a few people here and there over the years, made some brief and fleeting friendships that never got too uncomfortably deep. Will is the first one who does actually get to know her on a deeper level because he is the first one to care enough to push into the darker parts of herself, the parts she normally keeps hidden because society won’t understand and if society can’t understand then it will undoubtedly reject her. But he’s still not Hannibal. Will hasn’t known her as intimately or as long and still chosen to stay the way Hannibal has. There’s a part of her that won’t completely trust Will because of that and she won’t for a long, long time.
So, yeah, when Hannibal is incarcerated, Anya is pissed. At the FBI for physically “taking” him from her, at Hannibal for turning himself in and essentially choosing Will over her, and especially at Will because she sees him at the center of it all. The FBI would not even be looking at Hannibal if Will hadn’t pointed so many fingers. Hannibal wouldn’t have given himself up if Will wasn’t there to make him feel he should. And to make it all worse, she won’t expect it because Will is not the one who holds the power. The FBI did, but that was figured out already. Hannibal should have been “safe.”
At the same time, though, she’ll be desperate. She cannot be alone.
And yeah, Anya totally visits Hannibal in prison. After all, her moral compass is also his. She was raised on killing, she has no objection to it. Cannibalism isn’t even that much of a stretch to her, all things considering. If you kill it, eat it. Like a pig, or a cow, or a chicken. It makes sense to her at a surface level and she doesn’t want to dive deeper than that. But his choice to give himself up for Will instead of run for her feels like rejection and that is terrifying. He will feel more distant not just physically but also emotionally and for the first time in a very long time, she’ll be scared of him leaving her entirely, maybe even taking Will with him somehow and leaving her with nothing once again. Anya will worry each time she goes to visit that he won’t want to see her anymore and she’ll worry each time she leaves that it will be the last for one reason or another. And this will play apart in pushing her back towards Will again. She has to have someone, anyone at this point, and she’ll be grasping and scrambling to hold onto both of them for as long as she can.
Of course, she not very conscious of these motivations. Anya just sees her attachments to them as love, and it is. She loves them more than anything else in the world. But her love will always be damaged from those fourteen years of trauma and if no one forces her to see it, she never will. Anya won’t want to dive that deep into herself and she won’t stumble upon the revelation because it is also partially hidden by her struggle with impulsivity and the actions that don’t seem to be driven by any motivation or thought process at all.

Princess, Interrupted || closed with tarnishedxjudgement
@tarnishedxjudgement
“Because... if you are going to sell me to the enemy, then you should at least grant me the comfort of a friend whilst I’m there, father,” Ashelia said firmly, staring the old king down.
“Ashelia... Sir Ronsenburg is needed here and at war’s front,” Raminas said wearily. He was already dealing with immense guilt over the arrangement for his daughter to be held in Archadia’s capital to ensure Dalmascan loyalty, and Ashe’s resistance to it was not helping.
“Why? My being shipped off to Archadia ensures the fighting will stop,” she shot back.
“Because this arrangement is a precarious and delicate thing, my dear. You do not understand,” Raminas replied.
Ashe huffed. “If I do not understand, it is because you forbade me to be in your war room while it was being discussed! Also, I do understand, because unlike you, Basch does not think women so fragile of mind that they cannot learn of such things.”
“Then understand that your duty and your place right now are to do this in Dalmasca’s name and for her people. Please... do not make this more difficult than it must be,” the king sighed.
“I’ll need guidance,” Ashe said.
“You will be alright, my child,” Raminas said.
“I’ll need protection,” she tried again.
“They’ll not harm you,” Raminas insisted.
“You don’t know that!” Ashe exclaimed, feeling a pang of something in her chest. Was it panic? No, she wasn’t going to be a scared child. “I don’t know that.”
Raminas sighed again... because she was right.
“Grant me Basch and I will do my duty, as you put it, without further objection, father,” she challenged. As strong as she knew she was, the idea of going to live in Archadia alone without a single familiar face when she had never even been outside of her own country before had Ashelia beyond terrified. Basch was her dearest friend, her rock, and her voice of reason. She needed him with her. Her gaze turned a bit vulnerable, much as she wished it wouldn’t. “Please, father.”
Sending Sir Ronsenburg to Archadia would make a serious dent in the leadership of the Dalmascan military. However, he knew it would affect the knight captain’s performance to have the princess abroad with the enemy, whether the man admitted to the distraction or not. And perhaps it would ease some of the old king’s worries as well to have someone like Basch looking after Ashelia. “Very well. He will accompany you there,” Raminas said, not speaking as to whether he would stay.
- - - - - - - - - -
It was hours to Archadia by airship, especially the Durga class cargo and passenger ship they had been granted for this particular trip. Something unmistakably civilian was needed to avoid any and all aerial misunderstandings. Even so, the ship bore Dalmasca’s banners on its carapace. As they neard their destination, Ashelia emerged from her room and came to stand with Basch to see the empire on the horizon, its capital coming into sharper focus.
A quivering sigh, forced out through her nose, caught Basch’s attention. He turned to see Ashelia’s wide eyes welling up with tears, even as they gazed out the large window at Archadia. He watched as her expression otherwise remained unchanged save for a thick swallow, and she blinked repeatedly to rid herself of the tears she never allowed to fall. Basch’s own eyes fell for a moment, and then he turned back to the view past the glass himself, not calling attention to her moment of fearful vulnerability. She hated when someone pointed out that she was crying.
“Steady,” he whispered to her, and out of his peripheral vision he saw her turn to look up at him. “You represent Dalmasca here. Show them her strength through your own, my lady.”
Ashelia smiled softly and nodded. This was precisely why she had needed Basch with her. His words had already replaced the terror and despair in her heart with resolve and pride. As the ship slowly docked, Ashelia tried to prepare herself for anything and everything that might greet her once they were boarded...
