I was stuck inside a mall during the zombie apocalypse but instead of people turning into regular zombies, they got super powers. As I was about to get bitten by a humanoid spider zombie, I got saved by Ash Ketchum who was gonna save the world with One for All.

Archangel no more? 🙄

Warren Worthington the third, OG X-Man, was altered by Apocalypse a loooong time ago. Angel became Archangel and for the most part it was a burden, often inscrutable to make sense of, and disappeared once under extreme circumstances. From House of X to Fall of X Archangel was a transformation that he had under control and he used it sparingly to increase his combat efficiency.

He did die at Gambit's hand in Dark X-Men, but like everyone else (except Havok and Magneto) he was resurrected by the Five/Four.

Then X-factor #1 came out and he definitively said he 'can't turn into Archangel anymore.' Also, Frenzy is cool as hell and has been reformed for a decade. I've read every title, including the infinity comics and this is simply not explained.

Here he is in Heir of Apocalypse #1, a From The Ashes mini, turning into Archangel (it's so bad. I don't recommend you read it. Just check out the winner and how ridiculous they look on the wiki.)

Here he is in Heir of Apocalypse #4, still Archangel. It's the last page he appears on and there was zero mention of Apocalypse undoing his transformation or anything else.

What's up with that? First of all X-factor sucks so much - it's sexist, regressive, unambitious and worst of all, boring. It took time to reference why Havok isn't a zombie anymore, but there's nothing like that for Warren. He's been in a coma for 3 issues so there's been no new information. Under a better creative team I'd expect clues or even a slick explanation, but it's pretty obvious this was at best a mistake by the writer, missed by the editor. At worst, it's an example of From The Ashes lack of care for details, continuity and character work.

I have to ask myself 'if the creative team doesn't care about the characters, why should I?' Why should anyone? Either Angel is a bad joke or inconsistent and neither is positive. Sadly, he doesn't even get the worst treatment in X-factor - Polaris is unrecognisable. Gerry Duggan kept her pretty flat in X-Men and Fall of the House of X, but it was at least Lorna Dane. She's worth her own post, though I'll wait until she shows up again, probably tied to railroad tracks with an ACME bomb fuse lit next to her.

From The Ashes is a misnomer IMO - it's just ashes. I hope DOOM wins when that kicks off tbh.

say whatever the hell you will about verlaine's morals but i fully believe that if he knew the clone was down in that fucking facility he would have tried to bust him out too.

like. verlaine's whole thing is that he didn't want the ability experimentation-weaponization to happen to anyone else again. and we know the consideration of whether or not a clone was a "real" person isn't a factor there--he didn't believe himself nor chuuya were human either and still believed in the concept of trying to live in peace. and this is something he believed strongly enough to kill rimbaud over.

but like. the first encounter with the clone, verlaine hadn't shown up yet. and the second encounter happened after verlaine kicked chuuya several rooms over and was distracted with N. so theoretically he never even saw its remains. i don't think verlaine knew the clone existed.

he may not have "saved" chuuya the way he wanted to, but verlaine still got chuuya out. he was successful enough. but if and or when he learned about the clone that would be another miserable regret to sit on him while he rots in that mafia basement i just know it. i just KNOW letting another living thing like he and chuuya fall apart in suspended animation in a laboratory facility deep, deep underground would eat at him.

I want to write a post-apocalyptic short story about a woman living peacefully after the end of things with a dozen cats, and when the Main Character of the Apocalypse shows up, she just cheerfully sends them on their way because no thanks, she isn't interested in joining their ragtag gang of Found Family and taking on the Bad Guys, she just wants to sit in her armchair and read with fifteen feline friends.

Does the Main Character succeed in their endeavors? She doesn't know. Nice kid, but way too energetic.

What she DOES know is that Fancy and Fluffster McPuffington keep trying to break into the food shed. That's more than enough to deal with, it took ages to raid enough stores to hoard all that cat food...

My first impression of Rise is actually a fun lil (long) story! I was really into Ducktales at the time, and Ben Schwartz (Leo's VA) plays Dewey Duck on there! I was watching clips of Dewey on YouTube and cause of that got recommended "Leo's Sacrifice part 2" and went "Oh is that TMNT?" knowing literally nothing about TMNT except enough to recognize that it was TMNT LMAO

So I watched the clip, went :O "DID THEY KILL THE BLUE ONE?!" watched the other two parts, realized it was a whole ass movie, watched the movie and bam I've been stuck ever since.

But yeah, my first impression was literally that scene of Leo getting beaten in the prison dimension HELP

My favorite thing I've made for TMNT is definitely Ashes Ashes, Dust to Dust! Its my fanfic of the apocalypse from start to finish, I've been putting a lot of work into it! Especially about how the deaths are gonna/have happened :3
