Btw, being aro, ace, aroace, or another identity that falls under the a umbrella is one of the most queerest experiences I've ever heard of. Like, society has ingrained into pretty much everyone that you need to be in a romantic relationship and have sex? And you go AGAINST that??? That's fucking AWESOME!
Loveless aros, you have everyone, even the aro, ace, and aroaces communities talking about how "B-but, aros can still love!! We love our friends!! Not like those monsters who don't!!" and you're still you, and continue to be awesome??? Amazing!!
Moral of the story: aros, aces, aplatonics, afaimials, and others that fall under the a umbrella are queer as hell and are awesome and fuck aphobes

HEY GUYS SO GUESS WHAT ABOUT VIKTOR FROM ARCANE
HES CONFIRMED ACE!!
BOOYAH
ONE OF US. ONE OF US. ONE OF US.
AND BEFORE SOME OF THE JAYVIK SHIPPERS GET ON MY FUCKING ASS; JUST BC YOU’RE ACE DOESN’T MEAN YOU CAN’T EXPERIENCE ROMANTIC ATTRACTION. ACE DOES NOT EQUAL AROACE.
STOP INVALIDATING AROS, ACES, AND AROACES. WE’RE TIRED OF Y’ALL’S BULLSHIT.
i would also like to take this moment to remind everyone that asexuality is a spectrum. just because viktor is asexual doesn’t mean he’s 100% sex-averse. there are sex-favorable aces. but this also CAN mean he’s sex averse. both are equally likely and it doesn’t matter which one he is, he’s still asexual.
its a spectrum so PLEASE don’t whine to me about how now you cant write fanfic about jayvik smut now or smth. i frankly don’t wanna hear it. you can always write your own headcannons or write something ooc. nobody cares.
im just very happy that we’re getting some ace rep (esp cause viktor is one of my faves TALK TO A WALLLL) in more shows. lets start with some aro (JUST ARO. NOT AROACE. THEYRE STILL DIFFERENT) and also some aroace rep. and nonbinary rep! and so many other identities :)
im loving the progress tho
and hell yea viktor, come join our conquest of taking over Denmark and eat some garlic bread with us. you will prove to be an invaluable asset.
EDIT: I WAS NOT AWARE THAT LINKE WAS A HOMOPHOBE WHEN WRITING THIS. i think it’s super gross that he made viktor ace for the hell of it to try to dissuade jayvik shippers. like please bsfr 😭😭 that’s so gross oml. and just when we thought we actually got some ace rep, it’s just to cover up some stupid shit like this like omfg
thank you to everyone for making me aware of this, i quite genuinely live under a rock and i didn’t even know anything about Christian Linke!
also just wanna take the time to mention i’m not bashing yall for reading jayvik smut 😭😭 like do whatever tf you want man i don’t care

since tomorrow is international asexuality day
shoutout to sex-favorable aces, sex-neutral aces, and sex-repulsed aces. shoutout to demis, grays, cupios, frays, and everyone else in that gray area of the asexual spectrum. shoutout to aces who are still in the closet, aces who are feeling impostor syndrome about their identity, and aces who are out and proud. shoutout to aromantic aces and romantic aces; homo and hetero and bi and pan aces and more. cis aces, trans aces, nonbinary aces...
all flavors of aces have my respect. you all are valid and you all deserve respect.

I know well it won't ever happen, but it'd be great if on FIRST (official) Hazbin (as a show, not a pilot) pride, Al's finally confirmed to be AROACE.
The rejection of Al's orientation in this fandom is crazy and I'm not speaking of fanon, but CANON.
I'm SO tired of people saying "but he was just confirmed to be asexual!", "but the moment with rosie!", "what amir said was incorrect and he apologized for it!", "what faustisse said isn't canon anymore!" COZ-
Viv literally heavily implied on one of the streams Al's aroace, saying:
Oh no, I'm going to destroy the ship. I can't say. I don't want to ruin the fun for everybody. That's why I've been very quiet on whether or not Al is aromantic.
If I give a real canon answer [..] I don't wanna ruin anyone's fun
She knows the CANON answer to that question but doesn't say it aloud coz the canon somehow ruins fanon fun.
I really don't get why viv was then so eager to give everyone right to do whatever the hell they want but never confirm Al as aroace in the same. damn. fear. to ruin shipper's fun. Like? Bro if you gave the opportunity to do everything why hide what will change nothing? People will still ship, people will still play with his orientation (which is valid as long as you're respectful), but you know what it will give instead? Damn REPRESENTATION, damn CONFIRMATION, the damn thing your show is supposed to give.
Not to be rude, but then Husk being pan is non-canon as well (that's faustisse who said he is). And then media literacy is dead once again coz it's obvious Rosie was talking about dating Charlie not bout Al f=cking her. I might sound like overreacting but it's viv herself who is the reason of the war.
Screw fanon, canon should be stated by you, as a creator, giving the canon answers, coz you provide the show, you provide the characters, you provide the plot and lore and you are the one who created the characters the way they are. You can't really affect what people do with them, how they interpret them and how they create stories of them, but you are responsible for giving clearly defined information especially if it plays part in representation of the repressed group of real people.
Coz having actual confirmed aromantic IS a big achievement for us. Forcing him into the closet and taking away the bits of rep we could have is, honestly, a highly unwise choice. Saying fanon is a wide playground on which canon can have minimum influence but never giving specific canon statements is just utterly hypocrite. Aaand hiding the fact that someone is meant to not have any relationships for the sake of fanon (which is somehow much more important than real-life issues of literal erasure of aromantics) is pretty aphobic ngl.

it's been a decade since i began identifying as asexual. i wasn't the most socially attuned kid, so i basically went around telling everyone i was asexual when the topic of crushes came up, not realizing people would think different of me. i didn't really know why conversations would stop in uncomfortable silence when i proudly proclaimed i was ace—i didn't know what being stigmatized for your sexuality actually looked like. in retrospect, i was definitely marked as cringe by a lot of people.
but you know what? i don't regret any of it. people should know aspecs exist. we should never stop talking about our experiences. that's the only way we can become known. it's the only way other people can realize they're like us.
in the decade since i first found out i was ace:
i had a close online friend realize they were also ace.
a conservative, Christian friend of mine told me about their asexuality.
i had a friend (who used to think asexuality was cringe) realize they were asexual before college. we even went to our college's LGBTQ+ center together when school started.
my co-workers have told me they might be aro/ace
my best friend started identifying on the aro and ace spectrum.
a few months ago, a friend of a friend used the word "aromantic" in casual conversation and i was a taken aback. they didn't identify as queer themselves, but they knew what "aromantic" was. i couldn't help being surprised.
for me, "asexual" and "aromantic" used to be words that primarily resided online. they would not be uttered by anyone who wasn't aspec or questioning. (sometimes you'd hear a frustrated allosexual wish they were asexual, but i don't really count that as a good and wholesome mention of aspecs.)
overall, i think the landscape is changing. sometimes i don't realize how much things have changed, but aspec visibility is increasing along with other lesser-known queer identities, thanks to the internet. i see my sexual orientation in demographic survey questions, college professors recognize asexuality when listing queer identities, we can find academic articles about us. i can only account for my own experiences, but i feel like we've come a long way. and the future looks even more promising.
